Amar Friday Jan 11, 2008 Finally, an aha! moment!

There are a couple of overlap scenes that I will skip.

Then, Azul and LF are talking about starting a new family. Silvana overhears from the hall. They are in the hospital, I guess, but I don't know why Silvana is there. She smirks triumphantly.

Gloria goes to see Chucho and asks him to save her from herself. Efrain and Julio joke about something, like he can't keep her away with a baseball bat.

Azul cries to LF how awful her life is--her family abandoned her. Her husband loves someone else. If you still love me, she says, I will be Azucena for you. With Silvana still listening, LF proposes marriage. Azul smiles goofily, Azucena style.

Diego suddenly shows up, and Silvana feigns illness and quickly takes him away so he won't hear anything of Azul. Chance number 1 for someone to catch on--chance lost.

Gloria tells Chucho she needs forgiveness for having done a bad thing. She seems to be going through her whole history of having been an actress and abandoning her daughter.

Silvana now discusses her relationship with Diego. She wants to take it slow. They will have separate bedrooms. She will not bother him. The baby needs family.

He says he's not in love with her, but she is a good woman (idiot!) and the mother of his child. Silvana now says she doesn't want to hurt Caty. She will back off and leave Diego in charge of the little moppet. Wow, that's great, Diego says. He also mentions Frijolito, and Silvana's radar goes off. Danger, Will Robinson, Danger Danger.
No, it's okay--the Little Bean will be in the slammer for two years. She breathes a figurative sigh of relief. Why is Silvana being so nice here? She must be up to something.

MS is now talking to LF. She spurts out "Jesus Mary and Joseph, why are you with that woman and her child?" Now, I'm not Catholic, but would a nun really say "Jesus Mary and Joseph"? Anyway, she does seem meanspirited, too. LF defends his actions, in that poor Azulcena has been abandoned, etc.

Silvana is now talking to Diego about returning to her career.

Lidia is in her office with Efrain. He tries to be the apologist for Tavo.

Mario and Ceci are out together, when Mario receives a call from LF about Azul's pregnancy problem. They'll rush over to help. Maybe now Ceci will see Azul.

Tavo is now at Clemi's house with the whole family assembled. The doorbell rings, and it's Efrain bringing Lidia over for a surprise proposal. A long boring speech occurs, which I fast forwarded through. Now they are back together and getting married. Who cares.

Oops, chance number 2 fails. Ceci decides not to meet Azucena--it wouldn't be right while she is ill. She'll wait. Mario fears it's because she doesn't want to see LF, but she assures him that's not the problem.

Silvana calls Bruno, the Perez Hilton of this show, to give him the scoop that she and Diego are getting married. But Diego doesn't want much publicity, and he won't be interviewed. Manuel worries that Azul will see the story on the news. Don't worry, Silvana tells him. She's been poisoned with the idea that Diego doesn't love her, and since Frijolito is in jail, the secret is safe.

LF, Azul and LF's mom have a coffee klatsch. Mom is still very negative to Azul. Azul says she is going to call herself by her new name, Azucena. LF wants to confront Diego, so they can straighten things out so the baby is legit. It's not clear if he wants Azul and Diego to get divorced so the baby will be LFs, or he wants it to be Diego's legitimately. Whatever, any talk of his contacting Diego sets of a bad reaction by Azul. He must not let the past intrude! He agrees not to contact Diego.
Chance number 3 gone!

Diego goes to tell GSD, Emilia and the others about his impending nuptials. They are underwhelmed.

Cut to Silvana in a restaurant. She is entertaining the waiter with her discussion of what she is going to eat since she's now eating for two.

Silvana has another discussion with Bruno.

LF and his mother keep arguing. He decides to call a lawyer.

Azul wanders around outside talking to a nice Holstein. Maybe it was better not knowing the past, she says. LF comes over and kisses her tummy. The cow moos.

Chucho now interrogates Silvana about Gloria. He says he knows something is not right with Gloria, and it's all Silvana's fault. Just as he leaves, Manuel comes in. Silvana scolds him for showing up at an inopportune time. He says too bad--he needs money. No way, she says.

Mario now calls LF to say he is getting married. LF tells Azul. She is very excited--can't wait to meet the girl.

Silvana calls Gloria to get her to go shopping for maternity clothes and a wedding dress.
Silvana then tries to get Manuel to go see Lidia and to leave her alone.

Azul sees the news of Silvana's wedding on TV. Oops. She decides she's going to sleep with LF.

Silvana is trying on clothes with her mother. Somebody videotapes her surreptitiously. Gloria is ecstatic about the baby, etc. Silvana coyly asks if she has decided to keep helping. Why, says Gloria. Silvana reveals that Chucho came to see her. If Gloria reveals anything, Silvana will go away and Gloria will never see her again? This part is not clear to me. Help, anyone.

Manuel shows up at home and complains to his ex about Lidia. How could they not invite him to the wedding? Well you're a creep--remember?
She reminds him that Lidia forbade her to contact him. She got married on the spur of the moment and it was only a civil ceremony. Now she is on her honeymoon.

Ceci and Mario go for a ride. He has blindfolded her. They stop on the side of what looks like a bucolic interstate highway with lots of traffic going by. He lets her out and removes the blindfold. How romantic!

(I'm from the hippie generation, and I really don't understand the new cult of over-the-top weddings and elaborate ambush marriage proposals. (we already had one earlier in the show with Lidia). I especially find blindfolding creepy. There's a lot of pressure on men to come up with these original ideas. They're so "original" that certain venues now have made it into a business. For example, at NYC's Rockefeller Center skating rink, according to an article I read the other day, they will now clear the rink every hour for someone who rents the rink for a surprise proposal. This is so popular it goes on all day, apparently. Well, that's my rant for today. I was married at City Hall.)

Anyway, Mario reblindfolds Ceci and takes her into a wooded glen for a real proposal. Ceci says yes.

Meanwhile, Diego and his family are assembled in a restaurant for dinner. Mario comes in drunk. There is an altercation. Silvana says that she couldn't find a nice wedding dress, and she wants Diego to make one. Everyone looks uncomfortably impactado.

Finally, Ceci and Mario go to see LF and Azucena. At the very end of the episode, Ceci spies Azul kissing LF. She is impactada. Aha!

Thanks for the recap, Nina. This had to have been the most frustrating and dumb episode yet. All those missed sightings. Give me a break! Especially when Azucena & LuisFe tiptoed past the blindfolded Ceci in the glen after they had set up the table for the lovebirds. Well, at least Ceci finally did see her. I'm afraid to see how the writers will handle this.

Silvana is worried Chucho might get the truth out of Gloria and then tell Diego. That's why she's still pressuring Gloria with going away and not letting Gloria see her or the (supposed) baby. I believe Bruno was the person videotaping her, maybe for an "exclusive" for his paper. I guess they're not too many "A-listers" in that town.

I got a laugh from your description of the nice cows mooing in the background while LuisFe was mooning over Azucena. What was needed were those sarcastic "Happy Cows from California" who would have thought bubbled: "Don't tell me that idiotic Azucena is back!" or "How embarrasing to have to be an extra on this stupid show!"

did I miss something with this jprogram. If azul knows diego is her husband; how come she wasn't taken straight to him. she's been missing and presumed dead. I would think they would let him know that she was found and alive???

Don't tell me that idiotic Azucena is back!"

Haha, Jestena. Thanks for the info. I still don't understand Gloria, though. Doesn't she now know there is no baby?

Anonymous, you didn't miss anything--it is ridiculous. However, for the first few weeks, no one knew she was Diego's wife. When Silvana finally learned about it, she began getting in the way of a reunion by telling everyone that Diego doesn't want Azul. You'd think, however, that Azul would want to see for herself. Also, as in this episode, it seemed that Luis Fe wanted to do something finally, but he was stopped by the stupid writers.

As far as I know, Gloria still thinks Silvana is pregnant with Diego's baby. But that's no reason for her to continue hiding Azul's existence, not just from Diego but from her grieving family and friends as well. Gloria was never presented as a bad person and it seems out of character. I guess the real question is: Why are we trying to make sense out of these situations which are preposterous even by novela standards?

god its good to be back again!
Now let me start by saying,
well for once my reading was right that Ceci would be the first to find Azul, thats all i know as whats to come besides two other things which i keep to myself.
i wonder what will be Silvana's fate ? After all besides my missing out awhile back Silvana was the one after Diego but light on being crazy and had lost her child to Mo runing it and his wife off a cliff, I bealive at the time we first got to know Silvana she had just got out of some clinic and her husband left her and she was homeless. Now after that it was only until she came rubbing on Diego's shoulder i got back on track seeing her again the rest before i dont know what became of her. And last i checked Silvana was fakeing on having a baby wasnt she plaining to steal it from Azul. I have to wonder what really can go down in 5 hours? depending on the balence (my bad spelling) some dumb moments im guessing the fluff as i have seen in many finales that are only an hour!
great recap!
Im glad the next show will be recaped as well!

I insisted on watching the show late Friday because I just knew, I KNEW that something had to happen. Instead I spent the entire episode yelling at the TV. The writers have gone way over the edge from "dramatic tension" to "I don't really care, can we just get this over with." As much as I'm thinking it's finally over because now Ceci knows, I have no faith left--the writers will probably still find some way to mess that up. ARGH!

I do, however, appreciate the recap :) I should have played the "another chance lost" drinking game!

Thank you for the great recap. Although I miss just about every other episode, I keep going back because I think something important is going to happen that I shouldn't miss.

Anyway - when Silvana orders breakfast and she has that little conversation with the waiter who asks her if she would like some fruit, she says she's eating for two so bring me the American breakfast - like the works. Are they trying to tell us something?

After Nico's death, was Silvana in a mental hospital? I didn't see the beginning of this novela. Complete insanity is the only explanation for her behavior. The only resolution for the mess she has made followed by a sorry cast of other characters is for her to get hit by a train. OK - I don't really mean it, but, these last few episodes have been so frustrating, that evil thoughts like that come into my head.

From lower Ala

this novela is rediculous, such as the "almost" seeing each other but something happens. azul has to know that silvana is evil by now, After all she was being held at silvana's place with her mother. So why wouldn't she begin to figure that silvana could be lying about diego not wanting her. Also the person feeling guilty about silvana getting hit by a truch or train; rotf. What wasw the name that soap last year where the woman committed suicide at the very end. Was divorced from her husband but still wanted him. Got preg by him using the date rape pill. Switched babes in the hospital, with the women he loved, etc. I thought she was the worst; howsever, silvana is worse. I can't stand her smirks. I would ted to believe she will flip and wind up in a nut house cause there is no way that they get married in novela land. It is always the two stars. SOOOO, how does she handle the rejection. My questions are will azul find out all she has done to manipulate diego and her? Or will the program end abruptly with diegeo and azul back together and it is up to our imaginations what would have happended afterwards??

Yes, at the beginning of the novel, Silvana was just released from a mental hospital and was living with Emilia who is her ex-sister in law. Her husband ditched her when she went crazy after Nico's death.

Azul/cena does seem dumb for believing half of what Silvana said. On the other hand, Silvana has been showing her newspaper articles that would seem substantiate the fact that she and Diego have a relationship. Also, that the only other family member she knows about (her Dad) doesn't care about her. Silvana claimed that Diego wanted to kill her, I think. So if she risks going to check Silvana's story she risks getting killed. Plus there is probably a jealousy thing--even if she thinks Silvana is evil, she's pregnant with her supposed husband's child. No matter what the circumstances, that is pretty much gauranteed to piss off a woman.

On Gloria--I don't think she's evil, just extremely weak and immature. We've seen her float off on the merest whim and she's supremely motivated by the guilt of being a bad mom. Remember the whole competition between her and Isela? I am guessing that Chucho won't have to pressure her too much. She's going to spill the beans soon.

Should be interesting to see how this all turns out.

Oh and not only does Gloria still think Silvana is pregnant, LF doesn't know that Diego is Azul's husband yet because she refuses to say. I was wondering if Azul would meet Diego in full hate mode. She still could. Poor Diego, I would almost feel sorry for him.

The main question I have is how is Azul's amnesia going to disappear??Even if she meets Diego and the others, she obviously won't remember them. That means she won't feel anything for Diego.I guess there's always the possibility, like when Hipolita (Alborado) sees her son, seeing Diego or Ceci or Caty will bring her memory back.

I think Silvana was eating alot because she is probably trying to fatten up since she's supposed to be pregnant. Probably Gloria hasn't figured out Silvana is lying about the pregnancy. Silvana certainly hasn't told her.

I think you guys have guessed at the two possible endings -
1) Azul sees Diego and magically recovers her memory
2) The ending flash forwards to many months later with Diego, Azul, and baby all nice and happy with no explanation, like the ending of Duelo.

Or maybe Silvana will lose it completely and hit Azul on the head thereby restoring her memory on the spot. Silvana would then get carted off to a padded cell and everyone lives happily ever after. Fin.

The novelas would be so boring without your site

Ha-Margaret I think you are dead on about the explanations for the characters seemingly odd/uncharacteristic behavior. I mean we're not really supposed to expect these things to happen in real life - but in a telenovela real life, it all makes sense. Then again fact can be stranger than fiction so maybe these things could happen in real life! :)

But I agree, especially about Gloria, because her desire to prove her mother's love sort of trumps all other thoughts and it's not unconceivable that it would blind her as to the effect of her actions on others - because they have painted her as somewhat self absorbed, even though she's not mal.

Ninak -As for the "Jesus, Mary & Joseph", I've heard a nun and plenty of other very devout people say that. It's actually not perceived badly I don't think, in fact more of a polite way of exclaiming, as an alternative to "Holy sh*t" or even "Jesus Christ" which for some reason is more like taking the lord's name in vain. Go figure. Anyway, as to why one over the other, well maybe someone else knows. I mean, saints are often invoked too, without negative connotation, so this is not that different.

Thank heavens for the last minute...finally someone from the old life recognizes the new. I sure hope they don't bounce around this one too!!!

Anon 7:33, I removed your comment because it was a spoiler. This is a no-spoiler zone. Many of our readers do NOT want to know what's coming up. They prefer to speculate.
