Amar Sin Limites: Thursday Jan. 3, 2008---"The Moppet Lets her Thoughts be Known and the Show Drags On."

Just to note, we got the offical Univision commercial telling us when Amar grand finale is, it is set for Friday January 18th. Sad to say, I'm so glad to know that the end is near.....

As per usual, we start today’s episode with re-showing the end of yesterday’s show…. Diego and Caty talking in the park…..Bruno telling Silvana that he’s got photos that can destroy her career……Julio and Arnie rehashing their wanting to help children…..Diego and LuisFe meeting via the Mother Superior …..Silvana showing Frijolito a picture of Diego and Manuel and threatening harm to Diego if Frijolito doesn’t keep his mouth shut.

Frijolito tells Silvana that she’s going to pay one day for the bad things she’s been doing (how wise our young orphan is in the ways of karma). This karmic reasoning goes in one ear and right out the other, Silvana threatens to harm Azulcena if Frijo doesn’t cooperate. He doubts she’ll be able to hurt Azulcena because she’s living with the nuns. Nope, Silvana informs him, Azulcena is with us. She proceeds to call Manuel and orders a phone photo be snapped of Azulcena as proof to the Little Bean. Manuel tells Silvana that earlier Azulcena got hold of the phone and tried to make a call, but the problem was nipped in the bud. Manuel takes the photo and sends it to Silvana.

Diego is all friendly with his unknown rival. LuisFe, Diego and MS talk about Frijolito. Diego tells MS that Frijo came to see him at the house and wants to know if she knows what he could have possibly wanted. MS states that only Frijolito knows. LuisFe adds that Frijo has something important to tell them both.

After showing him the photo, Silvana tells Frijolito to come to the dark side. He says how could he join her when she’s threatening Azulcena. “Well”, Silvana says, “Azulcena isn’t so sweet and innocent. Actually she’s a murderer. She, along with her husband, killed my son and Caty’s mom.” She pulls out newspaper clippings just to prove it. **Has she just been carrying these around in her handbag for who only knows how long? She really is a whack job.** Frijo says, if Azulcena is bad and you’re good how come you got me locked up in here? Silvana diverts attention from truly answering that by promising Frijo that when she gets him out of there he can come live with Diego, Caty and her.

Efrain and Tavo discuss what went down with Lidia and her shopping for an engagement ring. Efrain thinks that Tavo should just give up his “test” and realize that Lidia truly loves him. Tavo’s not so sure. So Efrain says you need to stop your stupidness or else. Even if it costs his friendship with Diego, Efrain is ready to spill the beans about Tavo’s little set ups to trick Lidia.

MS and Diego find out from the lawyer that most likely Frijo will get six months in juvie for the crime. Diego says he needs to talk to Frijo and the lawyer goes to arrange it. MS is upset and Diego gives her a big hug.

Frijolito turns to the dark side and agrees to help Silvana. Her first test for him is to call Azulcena, assure her all is well with him and tell her that no one wants to hear from her again. Manuel and Azulcena are in Guadalajara at a restaurant when the call comes in. Manuel’s been trying to get Azulcena to eat, she can’t. Frijolito follows Silvana’s orders and you can tell it really hurts him to say these things to Azulcena. They hang up the phone and Diego, MS, and LuisFe walk into the room.

Arnie visits Emilia and he fills her in on what happened when he and Julio went to help at the orphanage. He decides that some retail therapy will help and tries to get her to go shop for some baby stuff. She tells him that she can’t. He notices that there is no baby stuff in the house. She doesn’t want to jinx things and get stuff for a baby that might not make it through the high risk pregnancy. Arnie comforts her, but thinks she’s only creating more stress by worrying so much.

LF, MS and Diego urge Frijolito to talk about what happened. So Frijolito, towing the Silvana stated line, fesses to the crimes he didn’t commit. Diego and MS go to see what can be done and LF sticks around to talk to the kid. Silvana hovers, so LF isn’t able to get any more info from Frijolito. LF asks Silvana if she knows where Azulcena went, she tells him nope. Diego returns and states his commitment to helping the orphans. Silvana says don’t you worry your pretty little head over the orphans, I’m taking care of it all just like we agreed. Diego’s like, whatever and then he and LF give a little subliminal public service announcement on helping orphans.

Frijolito is approached by another little juvie. He wants to know what went down. Frijo he had to lie to get out, but it’s worth it because he’s going to be adopted. He adds, for the audience’s benefit, that once he’s adopted he’ll make sure that Diego and Azulcena get back together.

Lidia and Tavo bore me…oh I mean they are out to dinner. They love each other, blah, blah. Lidia gets a call from Ceci, they are getting together later to discuss the plastic surgery insurance deal. Manuel’s name comes up, but someone help me out here, all I got out of it is that he was supposed to meet with them but will obviously miss the meeting. Is that right?

Back in Guadalajara, Manuel is tossing back a few and tries to get Azulcena to join in. She says, “no way, I’m pregnant.” **Shame on you Manuel, that is your grandchild!!!**

Mario tells Ceci that Azulcena left LuisFe, so he’s now free. Ceci says as if I care. Mario tells her all the things he likes about her and that he’s liking her more and more each day. He goes in for a kiss and LuisFe shows up.

Silvana and Diego return home and Clemi is there with Caty. Diego fills Caty in on what happened with Frijolito. Clemi mentions Silvana getting Manuel the car and him missing the meeting and how upset Lidia is going to be. Silvana says him missing the meeting is her fault, she’ll give him a call and see what’s going on. Before she can do that, Clemi corners her and demands to know why she told Caty that Ceci had designs on Diego. Silva says that’s not what she said. She claims that she told Caty that it was inappropriate for her to be messing with Ceci’s love life. Clemi doesn’t believe a word of it and tells Silva that next time something like that happens, she’s going straight to Diego. She adds that Silvana used to sit well with her, but if she keeps it up she’s going to find out what it is like to have Clemi for an enemy.

Meanwhile, Diego’s calling Manuel from the other room. He’s passed out on the table and Azulcena picks up the phone. The tension is building (or so the background music cues us to think), will Azul answer and will Diego recognize her voice? Will she recognize his and regain her memory? Before she can speak to Diego, Manuel comes to and snatches the phone out of her hands. Diego gives his dad the riot act for missing the meeting and lets him know how hurt that Lidia will be. Diego basically lets Manuel know that he’s worthless as a father and constantly a disappointment. Manuel looks at Azulcena and says I’m not so bad, in fact I’ve got your happiness in my hands. Diego wants to know that that means, but blows it off to Manuel’s being drunk. Silvana walks into the room and is afraid that Manuel might have said too much. She demands that Diego tell her what Manuel had to say. Nothing.

Ceci decides to leave now that LuisFe has returned. Mario walks her out and asks if it bothers her to know that Luis is now essentially free. She says that Luis was interested in another and she knows that. If she were to try to get back with Luis it wouldn’t work, because he’s still all wrapped up in Azulcena. It reminds her of Diego and Silvana. Diego’s with her now, but still in love with Azul. Diego and Silvana’s relationship is all messed up and Ceci has no interest in having that type of relationship. Ceci leaves and LuisFe decides to look out for Ceci. He indicates that Mario has been somewhat of a player and that Ceci is a sweet, wholesome girl. He doesn’t want Mario to mess with that. Mario says if you were so concerned with her well being why’d you break her heart? OK, he didn’t say that, but if I was writing the scripts that would have been what he said. Instead he tells Luis that his feelings for Ceci are genuine and that he feels for Ceci the same way that Luis feels for Azulcena.

Silvana sets her sights on Caty (because she hasn’t reached her daily quota of threats). She wants to know what Caty was telling Clemi. Caty says she was just telling Clemi what happened and did that because she didn’t believe a word that Silvana was saying about Ceci. (My notes are sketchy here, so I don’t know if I missed any other revealing details)..the conversation ends with Caty telling Silvana that she doesn’t like her and that her Papi doesn’t love her and no matter how hard Silvana tries, she’ll never measure up to Azul. The moppet knows how to make an exit. She skips out of the room as Silvana says, maldita esquincla (damn brat---does anyone know if esquincla is related to esquina and the whole putting naughty children in the corner?).

Clemi and Diego discuss Manuel which leads her to telling her son that she’s lost faith in Silvana. She tells Diego that she’s seen Silvana give Manuel money, then there’s the whole thing with the car and also she’s seen them talking in low voices, like they are up to something. She’s also observed that Silvana’s attitude toward Caty has changed. Diego says that he’s noticed and been thinking the same thing. He thanks his mother for talking to him because it has helped him to see things more clearly.

LF blathers on to Mario about Azulcena and how he’s upset that she just up and left without thinking twice. Mario says that LF needs to accept that he’s lost Azulcena because she’s returned to her former life and is now with her baby daddy. LuisFe is confused because how could she just forget a love like they had. Mario says he doesn’t want LuisFe’s new single status to automatically convert him into a rival for Ceci’s attention.

Manuel está borracha. Azul says he’s in no shape to drive.

Gloria visits Silvana and lets her know that her feelings were hurt that she and Chuco weren’t invited to the engagement party. Diego comes in and asks Gloria about the conflicting stories he got from Chuco and Silvana. Gloria covers for her daughter and she invites the couple to come out to dinner with her and Chuco.

Alfredo returns home and Emilia is sleeping. Arnie fills his dad in on what happened when he suggested shopping to Emilia. Alfie confirms that he’s been cautious about planning for this child because the risks are high. Arnie says that Emilia and Alfie shouldn’t suffer through this pregnancy, they should enjoy it. This child is a blessing and its coming needs to be celebrated. Alfie tells his son that he’s right!

Silvana’s getting ready for the party and the maid asks if she’ll be wearing Caty’s bracelet. Silvana essentially says, as if I would wear that trash with my haute couture gown. Caty overhears the whole thing and once Silvana heads out, Caty marches upstairs to take her bracelet back. **I might add Caty was wearing slippers on the wooden steps, it looked dangerous and I could only foresee a terrible fall, as we all know in true novela fashion—someone has to fall down the stairs at some point in the story. Since they haven’t been too original in the plot department I thought for sure our little Caty was a goner and we’d have the distraught father scene, but thankfully nothing happened to the moppet.**

This is juxtaposed with Azulcena looking at her Caty bracelet and saying it is the only thing of value she has because it is her only connection with her past (I think the baby is a rather big connection as well, but I suppose I’ll cut her some slack and assume she was only referring to material possessions).

Gloria tries to talk to Silvana some more about what’s going on with her and Diego. Silvana isn’t interested in talking. Gloria presses the issue and Silvana accuses her of emotional blackmail. Silvana tells her mother that in all actuality she doesn’t need her around, so if she keeps it up…..Gloria says she knows they didn’t always have the best relationship, but she’s trying. Silvana tells her that it is too late for it and Gloria asserts to her that it is never too late to change the path you are on.

Diego goes in to say good night to Caty before he heads out to dinner. Caty tells him that she does not want him to marry Silvana. Speak of the devil, she’s listening at the door. END OF EPISODE--- Just a question, earlier in the episode when Clemi and Diego were talking about Silvana, was she eavesdropping on that conversation too? Or am I mixing it up with the ending? Please shed some light on this if you know.

Thanks, Cathy for hanging in there abd doing a great recap. Silvana must pay. What will be her fate for her wicked deeds ????

Yeah, Thanks Cathy!

In the extension to this show we have gotten far too many personality transplants. Aside from Psycho Silvana and Amnesiac Azul, Tavo is now kind of creepy, Lidia who was a slutty golddigger is now completely virtuous, Ceci, Azul's slutty, if appealing freind is now wholesome and restrained.

Thanks for the excellent recap. I'm glad to know this is finally coming to a sad and painful end (and I mean sad and painful for us viewers, not for the characters! We all know this should have ended when Rene Strickler got bumped off!). This extension has just been the worst!! I'm really hoping Diego will grow some hairy walnuts and kick Silvana out BEFORE finding out Azul is still alive. It's what she deserves and would make a man out of him. However, considering the crappy ending we got with La Fea, I'm not expecting much here. Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed to the very end. My thanks to you recappers who have managed to hang on for so long. You're the best!!!

Right on about the personality transplant situation Margaret! It's like we're suddenly watching a totally different (and far crappier) show. Will there be a spin off starring Frijolito and the nuns?

I have to admit, I have been moonlighting and watching Pura Sangre instead. Picked up an excellent expression on the foro for that show.

Friday they had a party and a couple of the female characters had indescribably bad hairdos with long flat bangs for some reason.

One of the foro gals said, "Las peino la vaca" (the cow did their hair - meaning it licked them on the head.) Had to share that as it struck me as funny.

Kate Perez, missing Andres, Mau, Ivan and Leonarda.
