Pasion Friday Feb 1 - The help at the local store just got a lot better looking

I apologize in advance for a less detailed than usual recap, but I procrastinated and now I want to get downstairs and watch the Super Bowl, I’m recording it and it must already be halftime by now.

Jorge tells Marcelino to tell the Dariens that they have lost the rights to the mill and store, he wants to put the family in ruin.

Mario has Vasco tied to some machinery in the mill, he is torturing him to find out more about the ED card and Bernabe, etc. Vasco swears that Bernabe acted on his own. Ric arrives and asks questions, Vasco cries and says he’s sorry. Ric tells him to find Bernabe and say nothing to Camila about the card actually still existing. Ric and Mario leave and Jeremias sets Vasco free.

Mario makes some crack to Ric about him being whipped and Ric yells at him. Mario tells him he has changed and rides ahead. They arrive at a shack and find a servant, who tells them that the boss of the hacienda was killed. They found him in the road dead. He claims to know nothing about any cart. Mario and Ric know that he knows nothing because he has been TOLD to know nothing.

Back at Ric’s house Fran tells Lis that Ric left early, who knows where. Lis wants to invite Camila to the house for dinner. Fran is up in arms with Lis these days.

Some peasants walk down the street with a body to bury, must be the boss that was killed. Ric and crew stop to let them pass. Ric makes the sign of the cross, the other pirates just watch.

Ric and crew arrive at a busy plantation/hacienda or something, the boss knows nothing, nobody is allowed to sell things without his permission and nothing of the sort happened. That’s his story. Ric realizes that nobody is going to say anything. They cross back where the burial is taking place, Ric stops to talk to the widow. She says her husband was delivered to her dead by some servants of Alberto. She doesn’t know how he was killed.

Camila and Jimena leave home to go work at the store. Camila still looks way hotter with her natural hair. We see Fortunata in the square getting some gossip.

Ursula talks to Sofia and tells her she isn’t happy. She opens up and explains how lonely she is, there isn’t anyone around for her to be friends with, her first marriage was awful, she feels so alone and sad. Sofia ends up promising to take a trip with her to the capitol. Fortunata runs in with the news of what happened to Justo and Sofia is muy impactada.

Fran and Lis show up at Camila’s house and find out that Camila is working at her father’s store. The servant tells them that Justo is dying. I guess Cleo wasn’t the only chismosa working there.

Mario says that they need to hold Alberto down, start cutting him up, bit by bit, until he tells where Ric’s money is. Ric says “Cierto.” Mario is VERY pleased with this answer, as opposed to Ric’s usual “well uh let me check with Camila first.”

Fran and Lis have lunch outside, Lis comes up with another fantastical situation that can bring her and Ric together. Something about him getting married with the wrong name, and if she makes friends with Camila Ric will see how nice she is. Something like that. Lis wants to go to Ofelia’s to check up on Justo. Just then Santiago shows up and offers to escort them to Ofelia’s. Fran breaks off a couple of awesome eye roll/sighs here. Santiago offers his arm to Lis and they walk on.

Sofia is at Ofelia’s with Fortunata. Ofelia and GRita give Sofia the lowdown, then Ofelia takes Sofia in to see Justo. GRita offers Fortunata a snack, Fortunata says sure and orders enough food for a meal. GRita looks at her like “damn, how much do you eat for a MEAL?”

Sofia goes in to see Justo, the camera work makes it look like when long lost lovers reunite, and I’m still convinced that this is the case. Justo tries to talk to Sofia but isn’t able to very well, of course. Sofia sits and talks with him and promises to take over the wedding planning. She tells him that he better not leave her all alone. Oh yeah, these two are in looooove. There is some crying, as would be expected. As much as Sofia is crying, Justo is smiling, he is more happy to see Sofia than he was at any of his other visitors.

Out at the table, Fortunata is horking down a tableful of food. Fortunata talks about the upcoming weddings and GRita of course has to make some crack about Camila, which gets a dirt look from Ofelia. THEN – Santiago shows up with Lis on his arm, you can imagine the look on GRita’s face. Sofia comes out and is ready to go, dragging Fortunata away from her food. She tells Santiago “come see me, we need to talk.”

Ric and crew arrive home, Manuela is there looking for Lis. She looks uncomfortable talking to Ric as he pries information from her about Alberto, not getting much more than that he is on a trip. A servant tells them that Lis isn’t home, so Manuela beats a hasty retreat. Ric, for some reason, acts creepy and won’t let her leave for a few seconds, then gets out of her way. I guess he wants any reports back to Alberto to be that he seems dangerous.

Fran and Lis leave, Santiago is very nice to them so of course GRita is grouchy. He offers to walk them home, they decline and GRita STARES at Santiago. Lis asks Santiago to let Camila know that she is invited to Lis’s house for dinner, GRita says “I’ll tell her.” Then they get in the same old fight, this time she’s jealous of Camila AND Lis. Santiago tells her that she is truly, truly crazy.

Lis and Fran run into Manuela on the street, Manuela delivers news that Ric is home and delivers a letter to Lis from Alberto. Lis demands that Fran read her the card right away, yes here in the middle of the street. We see Alberto writing the letter as it is read, rather than Fran’s voice. It is like a teenage love note, “I’m going on a trip, but I wanted to say goodbye to you first, I’ll miss you and hope to see you when I get back.” He laughs as he writes it, I’m not sure if he thinks it is funny or if he’s embarrassed to be writing such sappy crap. He finishes by saying he wants to get to know her better. Lis of course says “no I won’t marry anyone but Ric!” Fran rolls her eyes again and Lis spins some more fantasies about how she and Ric will end up together. Fran tells her to get with Alberto since he is powerful and can help them. Fran calls Lis stupid and they go home.

Ric and Mario try to figure out where La Font might have gone. They figure that Foreman has purchased gold that has been stolen from the caravans. They want to figure out how to see what’s up with the whole thing and prove it to clear Ric’s name. Ric asks Mario if he is with him, Mario says he has to think about it. Then he smiles and says of course, to the death. Lis and Fran see Mario in the hall, he says Ric is in the room. Fran and Lis agree that they hate Mario. Lis talks to Ric, Ric says Camila probably won’t come to dinner with all that happened to Justo. She wants to know where Ric went, Ric finally tells her the truth about his money getting stolen. Does Camila know? Yes. And she doesn’t care? She cares, but it doesn’t change their relationship. Ric turns the tables and asks if Manuela gave Lis the card she had for her, Lis says “what? Oh uh yeah she gave it to me, whatever.” Ric asks if La Font is after her, she says no. Ric knows better.

Ofelia brings Santiago a drink. He glugs it down thirstily. He tells her that the porno twins are out on a job and Ascanio is helping at the store. He confides in her that GRita is driving him nuts. She makes excuses for her but Santiago says no, it’s not her being pregnant or normally jealous, she is off the deep end. She changes the subject and asks if he is going to see Sofia. He says yes, why? She plays innocent and says she’s just worried about him running into Jorge. He says she must just want to talk about the Vasco/Ines wedding. Ofelia says that Ines still wants to marry Vasco even after the ED card fiasco, she loves him.

Jorge enters the store and sees Jimena up on a ladder with a lot of leg exposed. He checks her out (I agree with him here, nice leg) and she finally notices him. He wants to know where Camila is, she’s in the back with Ascanio doing some work. We see her in the back room trying to explain some stuff to Ascanio. Jorge enters and is surprised that Ascanio knows how to read and write, how nice. Jorge wants to talk to Camila, Ascanio leaves and Jorge tells her that she sure has a lot of guys looking out for her! Yes, she looks way better with her regular hair. Now I remember why she was hottie lawyer on Duelo and not ‘bad wig’ lawyer. Much better. Jorge wants to talk to her about Justo.

Outside, Ascanio and Jimena fret about Jorge and Camila being left alone, but there was nothing Ascanio could have done.

Jorge says he has unfinished business with Vasco about Ursula and Justo is old. He also has a lot of doubts about Ricardo and Ric refuses to show him proper deference and respect. Jorge says Ric claims to be a businessman, but he thinks he must be a thief or pirate. Camila angrily denies it but Jorge tells her to shut up. He says that Justo isn’t going to work out for him any more, he’s giving the business to someone else. Camila is upset of course, Jorge says it’s just business. She says it’s because of the earthquake, not poor business. Jorge doesn’t care. But…. He might be convinced differently if he gets the proper attention….

Monday – Santiago must have run into Jorge at the palace after all, the guards arrive at the forge to arrest him. Also, Camila begs Ric not to do anything rash against Jorge, Ric says that the only way to stop some men is to kill them.

Ferro, amigo, why are you apologizing for watching the Super Bowl over recapping? If you didn’t watch the Super Bowl over recapping, we’d be wondering about you. Thanks for the great recap! Love that title!

For once, Ursula was almost believable when she told her mother how miserable she is. Any bets on whether it was for real or not, anyone?

“The servant tells them that Justo is dying. I guess Cleo wasn’t the only chismosa working there.” LOL. Exactly my thoughts when I heard it.

“” Mario is VERY pleased with this answer, as opposed to Ric’s usual “well uh let me check with Camila first.”” LOL! I love the way you translate stuff, Ferro!

“GRita offers Fortunata a snack, Fortunata says sure and orders enough food for a meal. GRita looks at her like “damn, how much do you eat for a MEAL?”” ROTFL! It’s obvious, no need to even ask.

Jorge is a super sleaze. I hope Ric gets his way with Jorge. (Matandolo or something equally feo).

Jeanne

Thanks, Ferro! Another good one. Hope you got to see the last half of the game which was the best part, anyway, from what I understand. > ;>)

Funny recap! Now we know gRita is just plain jealous no matter what female is paying attention to Saintly!

It's great to get a male perspective on things that go on with this story!

And I agree with cpt. jenny cash, Whore-hey and Rooster-hair have got to go!!! The sooner the better!

Thank Goodness babe lawyer gets to wear her own hair again!

I know it sounds mean, but I wasn't sorry to see Vasco get thumped a bit for his part in the letter fiasco. Maybe he'd behave himself better if he was occasionally pummeled instead of just scolded then forgiven.

About Ursula, my first thought when Sofia was told about Justo was that now Sofia will NOT be taking Ursula to the capital as she'd rather hang out and worry about Justo. Ursula will blame Justo's family for spoiling her trip and will be out to get them with renewed vigor.

GRita...Gah!!

Great recap Ferro! Hope you enjoyed the game.

Thanks Ferro for the recap :)

Howdy =)

Awesome recap as always.

Margaret: In response to your question about end of Thursday/beginning of Friday discussion between GRita and Jimena regarding Santi chasing Camila (or vice versa as GRita originally said), Jimena finished with "and it's understandable." I did a little snap on my couch to Jimena's awesome candor. Would you blame Santi for wanting to cheat on someone who's so difficult? Ok, yes, one shouldn't cheat but one is allowed to think about it if they're miserable and their spouse is suspicious of anyone you say "hello" to.

Mario does pose an interesting question to Ric: If he gets cleared for the murder and pardoned for the piracy and chooses to become a rich merchant in SF (or wherever), what happens to all those guys who will not get pardons? La Paisana has mentioned that many pirates are now holding up caravans 'cause there simply isn't money to be made at sea. What are the chances that these former pirates can relocate and start jobs when their only training is robbery? I think this is what Mario is currently holding against Ric, though frankly they could keep doing what they're doing if he were to become captain, they just wouldn't do it as well, especially if he gets Foreman pissed at them for exposing Jorge & Co.

Just some pondering for the next one ;)

This is a very good recap, and it sure had plenty of details. I think Ursula was sincere in expressing her misery to her mother, but, her personality is pretty much fixed at her age. Maybe she'll be the character who gets hit on the head followed by amnesia then followed by a complete personality change. That might do it, Ms. Jenny.

And as for Mario, he has some deep dark secret, and I don't think it just has to do with getting a job and making money. Anyway, Ric has expressed the idea that no matter what, he will take care of his men by giving them money. Of course, he doesn't have any to give away now, but, that tide should turn.

I also keep getting the idea that he's going to plant a mole in either LaFont's or Jorge's house, like Lisabeta. What do you think of that?

From lower Ala

Thanks, Ferro. Were you happy with the outcome of the game ? Well, at least it was a blow to sibling rivalry, and now both Manning boys have a Super Bowl ring. They did their daddy proud. I think that Jimena may be up for Employee of the Month. I'm surprised that she and Ascanio o o didn't think up some excuse for her to burst in on Jorge [nasty old perv]while he was in the office intimidating Camila. Since she seems interested in him [por que ????] , maybe she could offer to take Camila's place. I keep looking at Mario and thinking that he reminds me of someone. Then, last night I was watching Alborada and noticed Luis's long hair, mustache, and goatee..bingo....a more refined version of Mario. Poor Justo...in bed recovering and Jorge has decided to ruin him and his family just because Camila will not put out for him. I hope that Jorge and Bouffant suffer directly at Ric's hands. Do you think that Ric will try to steal his fortune back??? Also, has anyone noticed that Vasco's hair is looking a little better???...not as frizzy. Ric did seem to be trying to scare the skittish Manuela a little to send the message back to Bouffant that Ric is a dangerous hombre. Thanks again, Ferro. P.S. I was surprised to learn that Sarah Brightman originated the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. Her new studio album ''Symphony'' features Fernando Lima [who, by the way, I think is the singer at Diego's wedding in Alborada ...a thin dude with a looong braid !!!]

I'm so sick of horny Jorge. He's really pushing Ric to the limit and he better be careful because Ric is no one to mess with and if he even thinks about putting a hand on Camila it's all over LOL. Guess Santi is in deep trouble per the previews. Looking forward to seeing how Ric is going to deal with everything from Jorge to LaFont to his lost treasure, and Santi's jealousy.

In the previews, it looked like Ric was trying to stop the procession taking Santiago away. Will he actually try to help Santiago ? I think that if Santiago is arrested for something [QUE??] , Sophia will bring out the fact that he is Jorge's son. Then, things will start to rock and roll.

I don't know how you arrive at quotes for the sidebar but I would like to nominate a quote from Margaret: "Because you're a whiney whimp and he's a hawt pirate!" !-)
This show sizzles even when Ricardo Frightenes me. When Mario was 'interogating' Vasco. Vasco is relieved to see Ricardo arrive. But Ricardo winds up demanding to know where's the letter. I was afraid Ricardo was going to have Vasco's nose sliced open. And later he tells Mario well he's probably a good person, besides, Camilla loves him. Wha.aah. I had forgotten Antillano is still in the mix.
And the hand signals or sign language is SUCH A TURN ON. %-)

Yeah, I think Ursula's sadness was sincere. But that doesn't mean that she wasn't using it to manipulate her mother. I don't think she was, but I wouldn't put it past her either. In any case, it's actually an excellent idea to get her out of town for a while. If she meets a hot guy or decides to run away and join the service, so much the better!

I don't think Jimena "just noticed" Jorge. I think she put that leg on display specially for him, seeing as how she spent the rest of that scene striking poses for him! While I don't think she has any intention of betraying Camila right now, it's possible that things could change later, perhaps as a result of one of those misunderstandings that can happen only in a telenovela.

Funnily enough, the scene between Sofia and Justo made me LESS sure that they ever had a thing. It sounded more like a bittersweet "it's too bad we couldn't be together, but at least we could be bestest friends."

LOL, when I said "join the service" in reference to Ursula, I actually meant "join the circus." I don't think the service would have her. :)

Mad Bess -- Fernando Lima also has a CD with the Pasion theme song on it. It is called "Pasion" and is being released tomorrow. I ordered it because his voice intrigues me. I think that this is his first internationally released CD. Looks like that bit part in Alborada gave a nice boost to his career. On February 16 he was in concert with Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli in Vienna.

I meant January 16.

Julie I agree with you about Justo/Sofia, I guess I didn't mean to say that they had had some torrid affair in the past, especially with how uptight people were then (you hold somebody's hand and you have to get married), just that they obviously have had feelings for each other that weren't so secret. Or maybe they were sort of secret sort of not secret. If you know what I mean.

Thanks Ferro for a "well told" recap. Any speculation on what Santiago was nabbed for? I'm not sure how I feel about this turn of events.

My speculation from the recap stands - There are concerns from Ofelia about Santiago going to the palace to see Sofia as foreshadowing, then later the guards are around to grab up Santiago. I expect that while he was there he did/said something to REALLY piss off Jorge, who is thisclose to having a downright tantrum due to things not going his way lately.

I've been wondering how "secret" their friendship could be. They spend a lot of time together. On the other hand, how much of this open friendship do you think Jorge would tolerate? It seems odd that he's only just now starting to really mess with Justo. It'd be really weird if he was the last person in town to know that his wife and Justo spend a lot of time visiting.

I think he was always too busy chasing other women and being glad that his wife wasn't around. But you're right, if Justo was around too much Jorge might have set his sights on the Dariens earlier.
Whenever I see Jorge now, I laugh at how pitiful he is, trying everything he can just to have sex with Camila, and still can't make it happen. Camila is his white whale. After all this buildup, if he did ever get her alone, he would probably fail to perform yet again.

Would one of the recappers please post the Feb 1 recap to the sidebar (delicious)? It's not showing up on http://del.icio.us/caray/Pasion .

Thank you!

When Ric was saying "He's a good person and Camilla loves him", I thought he was referring to Justo not Vasco. Mario had just asked how Justo was doing and whether Ric thought he'd survive.

Pasofino, if we have to have an amnesia plot line, I’m in total agreement that Ursula should have it. gRita would be a good one, too. I am hopeful that Mario is a Duke in disguise who has been run out of Spain for similar reasons to Ric getting run out of the Mariana. They definitely need a trustworthy mole in Bouffant’s or Jorge’s houses.

Julie – “join the service/circus” LOL! Jimena is playing with fire if she messes with Jorge. Mario has a thing for her and I wouldn’t want to cross Mario.

Jeanne

I was thinking Santiago for the amnesia plot. Maybe then he'd finally forget his obsession with Camila.

A few weeks ago I said that Santi only ever wore the green scarf at the forge, never at home. I guess I was wrong about that. gRita must not know where that scarf came from - otherwise I'm sure she would tear it into pieces and bury it under a tree. (Preferably a different tree than the letter from Camila, otherwise who knows what would sprout from those mingled shreds!)

Thank you Ferro. Oh, so that's why Ricardo was getting into Manuela's personal space! That was another scary moment in the episode because his behavior was aggressive. Now just how would he explain that to Cami if she saw that! ...I was just ...working her fear level so she would tell her father...hum.mmm.

I agree with you Pasofino about Whorsela's personality. Yes she believes what she is telling her mother. However, when we first met her she was scrawled across her bed paging thru a book of French pornographic art drawings. I imagine even in a larger city she will repeat her behavior scoffing at the behavior of Manuela and people like her. Her drive is toward what feels good, physically.

Jimena, Cami's bestest friend betray her?! Never. And I will remember for a long time how Jimena schooled GRita, and then walked off with a noisy savoring lick of her thumb, tossing it at GRita. What a kiss off!

Who caught the justification for Jorge to close down Justo's store and mill? Unpaid taxes? Jorge owns the enterprises and Justo was just a mgr? I didn't catch how he could get away with that and not cause a community mutiny.

Jestina: OH! They were talking about Justo? I feel more at ease then.

And Julie, I thought you were referring to another service, the service industry. I previously thought about both her and Vasco working at the bordello where they'd find true fulfillment I think.

Mano Derecha, yep, Jorge is using the excuse of unpaid taxes. Which, of course, Justo can only pay once his customers have paid their accounts up. Something that was said, either by gRita when they were discussing why a woman couldn't run the store and deal with male vendors and customers, was an allusion to said customers being behind in their payments.

My guess is that the Señores like Gonzalo and Mateo have accounts, and are late with payments because after all Justo is a mere tradesman and can't do much about the Señores anyway, because they are Jorge's BFFs. So, the cycle goes like this: the Señores owe, know they don't have to exercise themselves about paying on time, Justo doesn't get paid, he doesn't pay his taxes because he has nothing to pay them with, and the earthquake made it all worse.

Yes, the concessions were "owned" by the lords and the lords then also collected taxes off the so-called profits. Nice deal, huh?

Jeanne

Oops, take the "either" out of the sentence about gRita's comment.

Jeanne

Julie, thanks for clarifying that Ursula (whoresula, as she's been dubbed), should join a circus and not the service. There is a huge difference. As a retiree with 20 years of military service I like to think that the service is still recruiting only women of highest standards and morals.

Yes, Ursula couldn't cut it in most places, much less the circus! I think she was sincerely crying for herself and how victimized she feels. She's feeling so sorry for herself, looking for sympathy, but I don't think it'll change her behavior.

LOL on the exposed leg scene! I guess looking at half exposed breasts has become mundane.

The talk around town is that the folks aren't too fond of Jorge, so it may be easy for Ric to find a mole. I think he'll plan a robbery once he figures out where the treasure is...
jb--Iron Jack Cash

You know, Ursula and Camila could get together and discuss their disgusting first husbands - from the sound of it, Ursula's was nastier but Camila's situation was worse (couldn't run home to daddy).

I think Jorge wants to ruin the family because Camila won't give him what he wants and Vasco has been having fun with Ursula ... and is going to marry Ines. And it looks like Justo and Sofia have been close, affectionate, but haven't been lovers. I think she's respected her marriage vows, as did he, even in the face of Jorge's flagrant infidelities.

Loved the return of Antillano! Maybe he - or Don Gaspar - can get a blanket pardon for all his crew and they can find some kind of "honest" work.

And how long is Santiago's green scarf going to last? he wears it pretty much non-stop, working at the forge, and it's been more than FOUR YEARS! Even if it hasn't been washed - ew! - it has to wear out. Or maybe just rot off his neck.

Toddson

While I don't think that Jimena would ever betray Camila, I do think she would SPY for her. They could make it look like they had a falling out and she could be the mole in Jorge's house....! Just the idea that she would be there would bring Mario around to figuring out that he really DOES feel soemthing more for her, too!!

Santiago doesn't appear to be a bum or a street person. So, assuming that his hygiene is equal to the other household the green scarf probably isn't so filthy that it would rot off his neck. Since this is a story about pasion, I think wearing the scarf is supposed to show the sentimental value that the scarf has for him not what a pig he must be for wearing somthing day in and day out for 4 years without washing it.

There seems to be a loss of money theme happening....all the good folks are losing their cash. Ric's treasure is stolen. Camila has lost a big chunk of her fortune to Bernabe, and Justo just lost his business to the evil Jorge. How will they survive??? I don't think that Camila has enough money to save everyone. Ric really does not want to return to pirating [no matter much we'd like to see him wearing black , looking cool, and hanging off the bow of the ship ]. Ascanio o o is probably not making much as an apprentice. Jimena has nothing but her many charms . Vasco is pretty much worthless , hopeless, and clueless , so we can't count on him to save the day. Now, Sofia loves/likes [whatever] Justo [maybe they were childhood buds or something], so it's possible that she will come to the aid of all the good people Jorge has screwed over. And, what will happen if Santiago takes his rightful place as son of the don instead of his current position as son of a gun ???? Can't wait for tonight's episode. I hope there are lots of scenes of Ric and Camila ''consoling'' each other.

Bess - Sofia actually said to Justo, as he was lying there in bed, "remember when I arrived here with Jorge?" So that rules out childhood buddies. I'm probably reading too much into a possible old romance, they didn't know each other until she was married to Jorge, but obviously they have become close over the years.

Sofia probably became disillusioned and depressed very soon after she married Jorge. (It couldn't have taken too long!) Maybe Justo was the only (or first) person who was nice to her.

Or maybe she was sort of a spoiled brat then, and Justo taught her how to be a human being. Sort of like how Santiago seems to bring out a temporary glimmer of humanity in Lis.

Now I'm intrigued too!

Thank you ferro for the quickly written very entertaining recap.

About the Rico and Manuela conversation, I didn't think he was trying to scare her, but was subtly trying to get information from her on Alberto's whereabouts. If I remember correctly, Manuela and Rico were discussing Alberto's trips, and Manuela was asking Rico questions about Spain and how far away it was.

J.R. :)

Re: the scarf- All I can say is, if I were gRita and I had lived in the same room with my sister for years (which I did long ago), I would KNOW her green scarf. That would really frost me when I noticed it. gRita is so self-absorbed she's not paying attention to everything, just the mos obvious ones--and she's attaching too much significance to things that aren't even important. If she figured out the scarf she'd really be off the deep end.

Jeanne

When Ric returned to the small funeral of the dead man, didn't he give one of those handy little pouches of coins to the widow? Just building up goodwill in the neighborhood, I guess.
I think Justo & Sofia have an unfulfilled love for each other. Sofia was telling Ursula she'd always liked the common people better than the uppity nobility (perhaps because she has common sense). I'd like more back story on their relationship and how it developed.
I liked Mario keeping Ric in suspense for a moment about whether he was with him or not. Just to remind Ric that Mario's a valuable guy.
La Paloma

Yeah, that was cute. Ric was temorarily impactada tambien!

I keep hoping that once Jorge bites it, the Widow Sofia and Justo will finally hook up. I wasn't dead-set (pun not intended) on seeing his comeuppance take that route before (wouldn't have shed any tears if it had, but I could have settled for eternal humiliation, being run off, somehow being reformed - ha), but after last night, I think the scorpion pie-cart needs to stop at his place right after La Bouffant's.

I could see Ursula joining the service. As a camp follower.

Finally got caught up with this episode. I thought that the scene with Manuela and Ric was funny because she was charged with getting info about him but he manages to get her to cough up quite a bit of info about her Dad. If he finds out, she's not going to fare well. I thought Ric's intimidation was partly to send her a message and partly as a tease--I think she knows he wouldn't hurt her but she's so timid, it was like he was mocking her timidity. I've seen how some guys like to do that to mousy girls.
