juan q-3/12/08 -Que Viva Juan and anthuriums!

Que viva Juan!!! The cheer hear round the pueblo. Strike up the band and dancing ensues and Juan tells himself how thankful he was for all this and that something changed that day for the whole town, that they heard the name of their pueblo on such an important television. He says the thing that filled his heart the most was to see his son looking at him with such pride.

Pau yells at Cl to stop throwing such a tantrum and come back to bed. Cl says he's flesh and bones and as such can't help but feel rage and jealousy for that guy with his Cara de Bobo (face of an idiot). Pau mostly ignores him and says fine then do what you want and she goes back to bed.

Juan promises that was just the first look at what awaits the crowd and the town; prosperity like they've never dreamed. But, it will come with hard work, and putting your heart into your dreams and your dreams into your heart. It's so cute how Juanito echoed Papa's gestures the whole way. Juan tells himself something along the lines that he's thankful that all this worked out, that he sent everyone out with their butts on the floor (backs against the wall?), and God lent them a hand to make it all come true.

We now proceed to the contest, where juan as MC is introducing the judges in front of the kaleidoscope background, including Andrea & Rachel from the tv program, and Emir Pabon.

At the same time to Vivaldi, Ana with Nid is opening her gallery with a ribbon cutting. Everyone thanks Nid for her efforts with this (if they only knew). Perafan rightly says that Nid owes them much more and he gets the shoe stomp.

Back in Achi, Juan is saying how Molo really worked hard to gather enough contestants and he even found Miss Tanzania wandering around lost on her way to Cabo San Lucas and convinced her to join in but now he tells Juan that she won't go out in a bathing suit because it's against her religion. Well, maybe. Just then Erlinda shows up noticing they have some problems. She tells them she decided to compete and she drops her wrap for them, showing off quite a lovely swimsuit physique. Very lovely indeed. The boys are of course impactados!

Back at the gallery opening, Nid is proclaiming how none of the waiters wouldn't even slip her a little, they just kept bringing her mineral water. Ana recites that she is one of those who thinks Nid abuses alcohol. They chat about MArely and Fer and Nid is sure that Mar will break it off soon.

Juan thanks Delfi as a member of the judging panel and puffs up her CV just a little saying this was the only way to keep her from trying to compete. He thanks the Colonel and the crowd throws lettuce at him, and he thanks the Padre, who is beautiful on the inside.

Nid continues that Mar isn't in love with Fer and that is a disaster for a Cachon so the marriage won't work. They spot a good looking gentleman and follow him with their eyes. This guy is just hanging around Televisa too much. He was in Amar sin limites, now in Diablo con Guapos, and now this. Hope he gets paid well. Ana thinks he's maybe a foreign press invitee so she will go greet him. Nid says, no, I'll do it. Turns out as soon as he finds out she's not the artist, he goes to introduce himself to Ana. There is a lusty pause.

He is very interested in her work, and though she offers to send him a catalog via e-mail, he wants he to travel to Miami to exhibit her work. Ana says it depends on the dates, but Nid interrupts that Ana can go, but nowhere without Nid digo Brigitte.

Back at the contest, Juan announces an average girl, then a large girl, to which the judges remark that they thought this was a beauty contest. Juan then announces Lorena, and the judges remark things look like they are getting better. Juan then announces Herlinda, who looks lovely, and her brothers get up to cheer. They summon their pa, who arises with a different sort of enthusiasm. He shoots his gun in the air after running on stage to yell at Herli for parading so uncovered. The judges hope this is part of the show and tell the crew to keep filming.

Back at the art gallery, everyone congratulates Ana for her success, and she thanks profusely Nidia for her efforts and that she has treated he not like a business partner but like a sister. Nid cries. I know this is going to get thick....

At the contest backstage Don Aldemar is yelling at his daughter that it's one thing to be proud, but another altogether to be going around showing your (Tepajuanas)

More to come....

I wonder how Ana is going to react, when she finds out that her "dream" is being financed with her own money. I haven’t been able to watch so I’m a little lost. K, Thank you for helping me keep up with the show.

Hello K...good recap so far. There was so much jumping around from scene to scene last night (or so it seemed to me) that I felt lost.
The guy playing the art critic/entrepreneur usually plays bad guys so I'm hoping this is a change of role for him. The way he kissed Ana's hand made me thing there's romance on the horizon. And I'd hate for Ana to have any more bad luck in that department!

The suave art critic is Manual Munoz, rotten Manuel from Amar and sleazy Damien from Guapos. He usually does play the evil one and I share the hope that his appearance bodes well for Anushka.

Was there some wacky editing in last night's show? At first I thought Juan was having a fantasy about his contest and then I realized it was the real deal.

Juanito really is cute the way he mimics his papi. Whoever cast that kid should get a raise.

Gotta dash, more later. Great recap so far Kris!!

Kris, this is a super start! Thanks for getting it up so fast!

Juanito is one of my FAVORITE characters, he's even better than Tonki/Donkey the wonder dog. Maybe we can have a Juanito spin-off later. I saw that his last name is Hernandez (the child) and Herbierto's last name in real life is that, if I remember correctly. I compared faces and wonder if they aren't father and son. I must be imagining things, because tonight Juanito was copying Juan while manipulating Herbierto aka Tweedle Dumb and Herbierto looked like he was cracking up behind his hand at one point.

Riberajoe, I was hopeful for Ana, too. She'd be cute with the art critic.

Yes, Sylvia, the editing was making my head spin. Very weird.

Hey all, I may not get tonight's recap up until tomorrow sometime. Just wanted to let y'all know.

Cap'n Sylvia, para mí, you can take your time. I don't read until I'm done with my Friday recap. Mine are rarely done before Saturday evening. This week's no exception since I'm spending this evening with hubby who's going to go off for a while and play Grandpa to the grandkidlets.

Whenever yours is ready, we'll all be tickled to see it!

On another note, folks, I went to Wikipedia to find the names of some of the "Juan" characters and discovered that after it ended on February 8 in Mexico, a new one followed it there with Jaime Camil playing a doctor. "Las tontas no van al cielo" or something like that. Hm, another with Camil? I could be on board for that. We'll see.

Jeanne

Huy!!! Another one with Jaime Camil? That would be our reward for sticking with the Lo-o-o-ong Juan. (Pun truly not intended. And not that I'm complaining either.)

Jaime has moved on to the big screen..Maybe, novelas aren't for him anymore..No, I forgot..He's is an upcoming novela with Jacqueline Bustamonte and her boyfriend..

Dear K, A belated thank you for a great recap. I have been busy and then had TV reception out so haven't had time to comment until today. The episodes are really flying fast these days. Oh I vote yes, please, please make the art critic a wonderful guy for Ana and not a sleeze like Muñoz has been playing. He was so hateful on Amar and Ana so needs a good break for all she has to endure with her bubble headed daughter and she needs to brace herself to finally find out that Nidia has been so false. I mean if Nidia ever get sober enough to get to an AA meeting won't they help her with 'fessing up and making amends? Nidia's list is getting longer though the longer she procrastinates on facing her past with the falsified will and the unfortunate interlude with Fernando...

Maureen, that's exactly the novela, with Bustamonte. It followed Yo Amo a Juan in Mexico so maybe it will here, too.

Jeanne
