La Traición, March 12 - Hugo escapes from Beatriz, Los Burques escape from Dr. Max and Ester almost escapes from Arturo

Well, I was completely wrong in my speculation about what would happen with Beatriz and Hugo. Thank heaven. That would have been too predictable.

Beatriz and Fabio take up as highwayman with little success until Hugo comes along still brooding about his betrayal. Fabio thinks he is Alcides of course, but Beatriz knows it is Hugo. She helps Hugo get the drop on Fabio and they go off together.

Paquito tells Eloisa about what happened in the cemetery. Apparently grave robbing is a capital offense in this town. Eloisa's concern about the risk Paquito took is a turn on and they start making out.

At the police station, Boris refuses to make a declaration against Los Burques because Guillermo had been an employee of Hugo. However, the diminutive duo are taken off to the cells until Boris pays their bail. Meanwhile, Dr. Max has decided that Los Burques are a danger to him and have to be silenced. Thanks to Marina, Boris and Inspector Duarte arrive just in time to prevent Dr. Max from injecting Guillermo with arsenic.

Hugo and Beatriz have checked in an hotel as man and wife to avoid awkward questions. Beatriz gets Hugo to tell her about Soledad's betrayal, uses the sympathy card and puts the moves on Hugo. He is tempted but does not succumb to her. I have to say that the actress and the character of Beatriz is very good. She isn't crazy but she is so obsessed with Hugo that it is dangerous.

The same incompetent guys who held Soledad in the abandoned church and can't tie knots are holding Ester in the same place. She escapes but unfortunately seeks help from one of Arturo's men in a funny hat.

Lucas goes to see Arturo's evil mother, Gladis, and she basically says that Ester will be released if Soledad doesn't make a declaration against Arturo. Soledad agrees.

Hercules offers a reward for finding Enrico. Meanwhile, Enrico discovers the clue in the book is "Soledad". He goes to see Soledad and arrives with one of those psychic winds. He psychically knows that Ester is in danger.

Soledad tells Inspector Duarte that she won't make a declaration against Arturo and Boris hears. After a frustrated Duarte leaves, Soledad tells Boris about Ester. Boris telegraphs Hugo about Ester being kidnapped. Beatriz tells Hugo where Arturo stashes his kidnap victims. Hugo should have guessed. It's the same place that Soledad was held. Hugo sends this information back to Boris just in time to prevent him from taking some time to relax with Marina. Since Boris' declaration isn't good enough on its own, Arturo is set free.

Arturo scurries off to where Ester is and decides to kill her for trying to escape by throwing her off a high building.

Meanwhile Fabio has found out that Alcides was killed in the mine collapse and he is really confused. Beatriz hates Alcides and she was happy to see this guy so it can't be Alcides but Hugo is dead and buried so it can't be him. It's too much for Fabio's little brain. Apparently, it was not too much for him to find out where Hugo and Beatriz are staying and he surprises them.

Tomorrow it looks like either Beatriz or Fabio gets shot.

Thanks Jean, appreciate the answers about Dr. Max. The great thing about this novela is that it moves right along, but I've got move along with it ;-}

You're right, Beatriz is an interesting character--just how crazy is she? I hope she doesn't go away too quickly. At least she's come in handy a few times for Hugo.

I would've liked Esther to go away for a long while. She started this mess and keeps promoting lies to 'protect their name' and keeps making things worse.

I thought Soledad was supposed to stay in bed. She's not following doctors orders, even though the doctor's crazy...

I gotta day, that little girl of Soledad's will probably be indestructible considering how much the poor kid has gone through before even being born! Soledad had planned to stay at home (even at the risk of Arturo going free without her accusation) but she decided to risk it by going into town so she could tell Duarte there would be no accusation figuring that's the proof the "De Linares" family needed to let Ester go.

I haven't seen tonight's episode (I tape them and watch Guapos on Univision since if it doesn't tape right, I can watch on the Telemundo website) but I suspect it will be Fabio that kicks the bucket. Beatriz is too important a character for that.

Any guesses on what Soledad's name has to do with Jeremias' treasure? I thought it was mean of him to tell Enrico he had to "earn" it by figuring out the clues.
