Yo Amo A Juan, Tuesday 3/18: The Truth, the Whole Truth

Monica and Laura are having a chat about what Monica should do with the men in her life so that she can finally be a happy woman.

Paula and Juan smile at each other and chat in the lobby after their business meeting. Juan starts to lean closer to her just as Cesar Luis enters the lobby and barks at them. And Paula, may I inquire as to what exactly you're doing with this nobody?!?

Marely happens on Nidia and Delirio squabbling about the matter with Paula Davila -- and she asks her mom what exactly are they talking about. Delirio threatens Nidia about the consequenses, but Marely insists on hearing the truth.

CL tells Paula she's really stooping low to associate with Juan. Juan comes to her defense and tells CL not to insult Paula. An associate breaks in to pull CL away from the scene he is making the the lobby.

Marely confronts her mom and Nidia does not want to tell her the truth to her daughter: her heart is too pure, Nidia is ashamed. Marely won't have it and wants to hear it, however bad it is.

Paula and Juan resume their gazing at each other in the lobby and she suggests that they go to lunch, a business lunch.

Nidia tells her daughter that she and Delirio stole Samuel Cachon's inheritance from the Davilas: the rightful inheritors. That is how they have been living all this time. Otherwise Samuel would have left them nothing, after all of the sacrifices that Nidia made for him over the years! Nidia snipes at the injustice of it all. Marely is horrified at her mom.

Marely tells her mom that she has to do the only good thing that she now can in this situation, and that is to call Paula and set up a time to meet that same day to tell her the whole truth. Nidia balks. Marely picks up the phone receiver for her.

Paula's cell rings and she asks Nidia what the matter is. They agree to meet at Paula's work at Don Agarita's at 4 that afternoon. Paula and Juan sit down to lunch.

Delirio has been listening to the proceedings with Nidia and Marely outside the door to the study. He scurries upstairs as they emerge from their conversation.

At lunch, Paula tells Juan that she's missed him seeing him, missed him as a friend, that is. Juan brightens up. Of course!

Juanito is with Kike as he feeds princessita Nidia. Kike tells Juanito that it's awfully quiet in the house, too quiet. A storm must be on the way! Juanito looks alarmed.

Delirio has just managed to jump into a chair and rustle his newspaper when Marely bursts in. She calls him a liar, a lawyer, and a coward! He tries to play dumb, but she cuts him off.

Nidia goes upstairs to get herself all pretty for her meeting with Paula.

Delirio is trying to get Kike to talk to Yadira for him -- and Kike wants to know why Yadira would listen?

Fernando tries to call Marely from the office, but Juanito answers and tells Fern that Marely's not available.

CL makes some calls to try to reach Paula, but can't get through. He yells at Yvonne to locate both Paula and Monica for him. She counters that if he can't reach them, how would she be able to? He screams at her to get to it!

Yvonne disturbs the eavsdroppers outside as she bursts out of CL's office. Where is Gaitan? She finds Gaitan and tells him that the boss has gone crazy. And Paula's with Juan Dominquez! Gaitan counters that Paula's pregnant. Yvonne tells him to go see the boss. Gaitain says that if he's killed by CL, he wants to be burried in Jalisco!

Nidia tells Delirio that they're going to face whatever comes from the errors they've committed. If that means prison, so be it!

At lunch, Paula suddenly doubles over with pain. Juan wants to get help, but she insists on staying at the table. She doesn't want to go to a doctor, she'll go home. Juan argues with her to try to get her to agree to get help.

Mr. Professor comes in to have an "intellectual" conversation with Delirio. Kike comes down the stairs and there is a confrontation and scuffle between the men. Nidia tells them to break it up, no fighting in her house.

Delirio goes upstairs, followed by the professor, and starts to pack his suitcase. They come back down the stairs and Delirio bumps into Yadira in his hurry out. Yadi gets some of the info from Mr. Professor and pieces together what the news about her mom and Paula Davila must be. Juanito looks on, alarmed.

Nidia is looking glam in a flashy cap and glasses at Don Angarito's. He asks if she is meeting with Paula to tell her the truth. Yes, but she's so nervous, she might just take off! He tells her to stay put and reassures her that he'll be there for her.

Juan gets Paula to the car. She still doesn't want to go to the hospital, but she's in a lot of pain. Don't leave me! Juan grips her hand, worried, and drives as fast as he can.

Yadi sits in shock with tea on the couch as Mr. Professor tries to talk to her. Suddenly, she gets up and hurries him to the door.

Juan reaches the hospital, calls for a doctor, and carries Paula in. Later, the doctor comes out to tell Juan that "his wife" has lost the baby.

This was a sad episode, especially when Paula lost the baby! The one glimmer of hope was that maybe Yadi was showing her "suitor" the door.

Susana, Thank you for the quick and clear recap which allows us to keep pondering the mess this family has gotten themselves into. I appreciate your work and skill.

The only moral compass pointed to true north is perhaps, Juanito (baby doesn't talk yet so she doesn't get a vote). Marely, Monica, Fernando, Gaitan, Yadira, Kike, all have a clear need to walk a new path or recommit to their former lives. Nidia is clearly going to need a complete personality makeover. I don't condemn Nidia entirely. Didn't her husband pull a fast one by leaving her penniless after she was the lawful wife for all those years. I missed some of the first few weeks so maybe something was learned about her or him then that would justify this betrayal but it seems really unjustified and perhaps could it have been contested openly now.

Maybe the good that will come out of this is that wormy Alirio will have to disappear from the Cachon life. I'll miss the vocabulary lessons I always get from him but I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams being tolerant enough to want someone like him in my life so how could Nidia and her girls. Once the shoes all drop, maybe they can make a clean restart as a family too.

I can see some pathway the writers are striking to keep the bonds between Paula and Juan strong. Too bad they had to make us so sad by losing the baby. Coupled with Marely's heartache of botched wedding dreams, this is hopefully the rock bottom of sad story line and we will begin to climb out of this deep morose well.

I thought this episode was fabulous tv. Wasn't Marely wonderful when she yelled at her mom? It's rarely I'm this moved by an episode of a telenovela. Nidia just crackled. Huzzah!

I just couldn't watch last night. Too much sadness going on in my real life and so I'm glad I missed this episode. But I really appreciate your crisp, direct style, Susana. Clearly I missed a lot last night, but just as well. Thanks for a great recap, as always.

This episode was definitely sad by JQ standards but I was mesmerized. I was most impressed by Marely letting Alirio have it. He so deserved the tongue lashing he got from her. I even rewound. Last night Florencia de Saracho (Mari) really got to pull out the stops. She and Nidia are wonderful together, good chemistry.

I'm very relieved that Nidia is finally wanting to get her great shame off her chest. Maybe she will even get to do it, although with Paula having just lost the baby Nidia may have to confess to Ana which is more appropriate.

Cheryl, we didn't see much of Samuel Cachon. In the first episode he tried to apologize to Paula (who had just returned home from school)saying Ana was his one true love but Pau would have none of it, he ruined her life, wah. Then he went home, met Juan, told Juan his wife was a nobody and only Marely was worth saving, then he shot himself in front of Juan. I had always wondered why Samuel left Yadi out of the mix, and now I'm thinking he knew Yadira was not his. And no, it doesn't seem he was entirely fair to Nidia. Hopefully Ana will agree.

Yep, clearly the writers are pulling Juan and Paula back together again, but there is still a lot of time for rockiness ahead. Of all last night's surprises, the one thing that did not surprise me was that Paula lost the baby. Too bad though, it's such a pat way to clear the path for Juan and Pau's love.

There were several complex relationships going on, the best of the lot was how the Cachón daughters temporarily forgot their own troubles to be around for Mami in her time of need. Good stuff.

Thanks Susana! I really enjoyed the recap.

Thank you Susana, lots of great info!!

This opens up lots of possibilities...

for Juan and Paula

for Monica and CL (run Monica run)

for Nidia an Anga

and so on - really a pivotal episode!!

One of our regular commentators here predicted the miscarriage..Amazing..Gotta get me a crystal ball..How insightful are the "regulars" here??..I never saw that coming..

Susana, thanks so much for this great recap. I couldn't watch until last night and I saw both Tuesday's and Wednesday's back to back.

Maureen, I figured our Anon commenter was probably right about the miscarriage. I tell you the truth, all, I can't figure for the life of me where this will end up in three months and who will end up with whom.

Everyone's comments were good to read.

Jeanne
