La Traición, Tues., Apr. 15- Alcides is back in chains; Hugo is back in the mine, Elena opens the cabinet and Guillermo can see!

Well, the good news is that the plot is hurtling forward again; the bad news is that there is no La Traición tomorrow.

Soledad tells Ursula that she needs to talk to Alcides. He has been acting very strange lately and she has many things to talk about with him. She goes into his room but he's not there. She has a flashback to Alcides telling that he loves her when she was sick. She tells herself that she has trouble believing that he has changed so much. What could have happened to make him such a different person? He is so much like his brother now. While having these thoughts, Soledad has strolled over to the box where Hugo put the ring. She opens the box and sees the ring. She says that it is hers. What is it doing here? Ursula comes in to Hugo's bedroom to see what Soledad is doing.

Soledad shows her the ring. Ursula recognizes it as the ring that Hugo gave Soledad and that Soledad in turn gave to Marina. How did it get here? At this moment, Marina comes in and demands to know what they are doing in Alcides' bedroom. Soledad quickly puts the ring back into the box. Marina says that no one is allowed to come into this room. Alcides is a very private man. Ursula says that Soledad owns the house and is married to Alcides and so she can go wherever she wants. Marina says that doesn't matter. No one is allowed in Alcides' room and he will be very angry when he finds out they were there. Before the matter escalates into another Ursula/Marina battle, Soledad says that they will leave. She leaves and Ursula warns Marina to be careful. She is assuming an importance that she doesn't have.

All the guys in town are at the mine. Manrique the moneylender plans to invest all his money in the mine and he thinks Arturo ought to as well. Arturo is not convinced. "What further proof do you need?" asks Hugo. Arturo says that suddenly finding gold in the mine is suspicious. What guarantee does he have that the whole thing isn't a set up? He knows Alcides has a weakness for easy money. Hugo suggests that he go see for himself. He tells the assembled crowd that the exploratory tunnel is open. Arturo says that he will go and see for himself provided that Alcides comes along. Boris thinks it is crazy for Hugo to go into the mine because he can't tolerate being in enclosed places. Hugo says that if he doesn't go into the mine, Arturo will become more suspicious. For his plan to work, Arturo has to invest in the mine.

Outside their house, Paquito tells Eloisa that he is going to the mine. He thinks that Arturo should invest in it and Eloisa agrees. She is on her way to Arturo's house to tell him so. "Don't bother, " says Paquito, "Arturo is at the mine." "Let's go to the mine, then," responds Eloisa.

As I predicted, Dr. Max has determined from studying the blood samples from Hugo and Aurora that the baby is Hugo's daughter, not Alcides'. (Never mind that even with modern science, no one could determine the paternity of a child fathered by one of identical twins since they both have the same DNA. At least that's what I learned from watching CSI.)

Eloisa comes to the mine and asks for Arturo. She is told that he is in the tunnel with Alcides. She says that is crazy. It is too dangerous in the mine. Hercu-less says that everyone told them that but they wouldn't listen. Paquito tells her to calm down.

In the mine, Arturo is convinced that there is gold there. Hugo says, "I guess we can leave now." Arturo notices that Hugo is tense. "You aren't remembering what happened the last time you were in the mine, are you?" he asks Hugo. Arturo goes further into the mine. Hugo says that that part of the mine hasn't been secured. It could cave in. Arturo says that you don't succeed if you don't take risks and says that Hugo can go back if he is afraid. So, of course, with the logic of 6 year olds, they go into the dangerous part of the mine.

Dr. Pablo is at his desk at the hospital when Alcides comes in with his face covered by a yellow scarf. He threatens Dr. Pablo with a gun and says that they have to talk. Alcides seems to be having trouble breathing and that is probably because he is picking up Hugo being back in the mine. Dr. Pablo says that if he has come for money, there isn't any. This is a hospital for poor people. Alcides says that he wants information. He wants to know what the doctor knows about Hugo and Alcides de Medina. Dr. Pablo wants to know why Alcides wants this information. "That's none of your business," says Alcides.

Hugo tells Arturo that they are in a very old part of the mine. It could collapse at any moment. They should go back or they might die in there. Hugo is now having serious problems and appears to be on the point of passing out. Arturo responds that Hugo can go back if he's scared. Arturo is sure that they will find more gold.

Back at the hospital, Dr. Pablo refuses to provide any information and Alcides threatens to kill him. But Alcides suddenly doubles over in pain as he shares Hugo's sensations of being in the mine. Dr. Pablo fights back. The gun goes off. Dr. Pablo is wounded in the shoulder and Alcides staggers out of the hospital.

Back in the mine, Arturo believes that Hugo's reluctance to go further into the mine means that he is trying to hide more gold from him. Hugo warns him not to yell. The vibrations could cause a cave in. Just like a 6-year old would, Arturo starts yelling and part of the mine collapses on him.

Outside the hospital, Alcides falls to the ground in agony. The detective watches him from behind a tree.

In the mine, Arturo's arm is hurt and he is trapped under a beam. He calls for help. Hugo was not caught in the fall. Hugo tries to get the beam off of Alcides but he can't lift it.
Outside the mine, Eloisa is concerned that Hugo and Arturo have not come out. Paquito reminds her that mines are dangerous. She is angry that he is trying to scare her.

Rebeca comes to visit Lucas at the Obragon house. After some small talk about Soledad's recent brush with death, she cuts to the chase. What does Lucas know about the medallion with the letters SDM engraved on it that Enrico gave to Aurora? Lucas doesn't know anything about it but Ester, who is listening out in the hall, is suddenly upset, "Dear God," she says and adjusts the sausage curls. Lucas asks Rebeca why she is so interested in the medallion and Rebeca spins a tale about suspecting Jeremias of infidelity. Rebeca rises to leave and Ester sees her out. She tells Rebeca that she overheard part of the conversation. Now she asks why Rebeca is so interested in the medallion. Rebeca says that it is simple curiosity. She can't figure out how the medallion got into Enrico's hands. Ester does not find that strange. Jeremias was fond of Enrico. He probably gave him the medallion. Rebeca says that she has to leave. After she is gone, Ester prays to God not to let Rebeca find out anything about her past. (Ok, now we have some support for what we speculated in the past, namely that Ester probably had an affair with Jeremias and Soledad is their child. This would explain Jeremias' interest in Soledad and her baby.) Antonia reproaches Lucas for letting Rebeca into the house. She never stops flirting with him. Lucas says that he didn't invite her and to lay off already. He has enough on his conscience.

Alcides makes it back to the House of Sadism where Beatriz is still chained up. He staggers in and wants to know which of the medicines that Beatriz gave him are making him feel this way. She say that the medicines she gave him don't have this effect. Alcides wants to know how to make the feeling go away but Beatriz can't help him. He decides to inject her with the drugs. He is about to do so when the detective burst him and holds him at gunpoint. He asks why Beatriz is tied up. Alcides says that he doesn't have to give him any information and asks again who he is. Beatriz pipes up and says that Alcides is very dangerous. The detective fires a warning shot and tells Alcides to get on the floor.

Back in the mine, Arturo begs Alcides to help him. Hugo says that he will try one more time to move the beam and if he can't, he'll go for help. Hugo manages to move the beam. He helps Arturo up and then falls unconscious to the ground. Arturo tries to get Hugo to wake up.
He doesn't know the way out. He doesn't know anything about mines. Now Arturo is like a scared 6 year old. He touches Hugo and he is cold so Arturo concludes that Hugo is dead. (Now maybe the bodies of people having a catalepsy attack get cold right away, but the bodies of dead people cool off slowly so that if Hugo had really just collapsed and died, his body would not be cold to Arturo's touch for several hours. I understant why the writers keep doing this, though because it makes it easy for people to conclude that Hugo is dead, rather than just unconscious.)

Aurora is fussy. Does she have colic or is she picking up her Dad's problems? Hugo is really broadcasting here. Soledad feels anxious and nervous too. Ursula offers some possible explanations but Soledad believes it is something else.

Outside the mine, people are concerned that Arturo and Hugo haven't come out. In the mine, Arturo can't find the way out. He is afraid that he will die in the mine. An unconscious Hugo has a flashback to Alcides taunting him about being trapped in the mine forever. Boris decides to go into the mine and look for them.

At the House of Sadism, Alcides is chained up again. Beatriz was sure that the detective was looking for her but he tells her that he was hired by Boris Monsalve to find Alcides de Medina. Beatriz is confused. Alcides listens quietly. Beatriz tells the detective that she found Alcides in the woods and he had lost his memory. She tried to help him but he took her to this abandoned cabin, chained her up, raped and tortured her. Alcides tells the detective not to believe her since she is obviously crazy. The detective says that he has to go send a telegram about finding Alcides. He tells Beatriz that she is safe from Alcides because he is tied up and gagged. Beatriz works her wiles on the detective to stay with her and plies him with drink. Alcides falls asleep. The detective starts make moves on Beatriz. She whips out the detective's gun that she has gotten ahold of. We only see Alcides' reaction as the gun is fired. (Has Beatriz joined the LT murderer's club?)

In the mine, Arturo feels sorry for himself. He doesn't want to die. He curses Alcides. How could he die after finding this mine.

At the Hacienda, Soledad continues to have strange feelings. Meanwhile Ursula tells Marina that the baby is very restless so she is going for some hot water to give the baby a bath. Nastily, Marina says that a bath won't help. Like mother like daughter. Ursula says that Soledad has always been nice to her. She gave her a valuable ring. If she hates Soledad so much, why doesn't she give the ring back. She never wears it. Soledad comes downstairs and hears Marina say that she sold the ring to Alcides for a lot of money. Soledad tells Ursula to stop fighting with Marina. At this moment, Guille burst in to say that there's a man with bad news outside. The mine has collapsed and Alcides is trapped inside. Soledad says she has to go to the mine and find out what is happening. Marina says that she will go with her.

Boris is searching in the mine. He calls for Alcides and Arturo. Arturo answers and says that he is injured and Alcides is dead. Boris is impactado. Boris helps Arturo but he wants to find Hugo.
Arturo insists that Alcides is dead and that he, Arturo, can't get out of the mine without Boris' help. Boris has no choice but to help Arturo but he says he will come back for Alcides' body. He can't leave it there. "Whatever", says Arturo,"just get me out."

In the carriage, Marina says that the stupid mine has only caused them problems. Alcides nearly killed Soledad in the mine the same day that Hugo almost died. Soledad is impactada. Suddenly she remembers running out of the mine, having it explode and calling Hugo's name as if he were alive.

The men pull Arturo up to the top of the cliff above the entrance to the mine. Eloisa says that she is glad he is ok. Arturo asks for medical attention and Dr. Max starts to treat his arm. Eloisa asks Arturo about Alcides and Arturo says that he isn't sure but he thinks that Alcides was killed. Eloisa is super impactada and Paquito warns her not to show how upset she is. Arturo asks why she is so affected by what happened to Alcides and she tells him that she is sensitive to any loss of life especially a married man who has a newborn. Paquito helps her out by saying that women react like this to any disaster and Arturo should know that his fiancee is very sensitive.
Arturo buys it but says that Eloisa should try and control her feelings in public. After Dr. Max treats Arturo, he wants to leave but Eloisa and Inspector Duarte insist that he stay until Boris and Alcides come out of the mine. Dr. Max mutters to himself that he is worried about what Elena is up to alone in his house.

Boris finds Hugo in the mine. He is conscious, which is good because I don't think that even Boris could carry him out of the mine. Hugo tells Boris that they have to get out of there because the place could collapse at any moment. Boris says that Hugo is still cold and that he will help him. On the way out, Hugo and Boris stop to rest. Hugo says that Boris did a good job salting the mine. Arturo believes that there is gold there. Boris says that Arturo is a cruel man. He told Boris that Hugo was dead. Hugo says that Arturo doesn't know about his illness and probably thought he was dead.

Soledad arrives at the mine, much to Eloisa's annoyance. Arturo tells her that after the cave in, Alcides was in bad shape. Arturo couldn't get any response from him and it seems like he was dead. Soledad faints.

Guillermo is worried about Elena at Dr. Max's place. He decides to go find her even though Dr. Max's place is far away and Guille is blind, of course. He sets off, falls down in the mud and gets his sight back. Meanwhile Elena is trying to use her opportunity of being alone at Dr. Max's to open the Cabinet of the Dead Wife. She ultimately succeeds and screams in horror at what she sees there. She is surprised by the return of Dr. Max. He tells her that she shouldn't have opened the cabinet. She says that there is a dead lady in the cabinet. Dr. Max says that it isn't a dead lady, it's his beloved Eva, she's only sleeping and he will bring her back and Elena will help him. Elena says that Dr. Max is crazy. (Need we ask if Guillermo will come and save her?)

Marina and Eloisa are tending to Soledad when Hugo, supported by Boris, comes out of the mine. Soledad is impactada. Marina runs up and drags Boris away. Fortunately, Hugo can stand on his own. Soledad runs up and embraces him. Hugo looks at her tenderly. The anti-Soledad contingent: Eloisa, Paquito and Marina are unhappy. After a few seconds, Soledad draws back confused. Hugo tries to kiss Soledad and she slaps him. The anti-Soledad contigent rejoice. Hugo looks at Soledad with hatred. The credits roll.

Thursday - Aurora has a catalepsy attack.

Oriana, on yesterday’s posting I left a note about the telenovelas that Mario has been in.
Jean, very good surmise about Dr. Max figuring out that Aurora is Hugo’s daughter! Oh, what he will be able to do with that knowledge!
When you said “Elena Opens the Cabinet and Guillermo Can See” in your title of last night’s episode, I thought maybe the Dead Wife held restorative powers. The writers sure missed an excellent plot twist by just having Guillermo fall down.
You said that you didn’t think that Boris could carry Hugo out of the mine by himself. But, remember when Hugo had one of his first catalepsy attacks that we saw, Boris carried him from an upstairs bedroom all the way down to the tunnel where the special chamber was. (Now that I think about it, never mind that this was a coffin that had been designed to put Hugo to help him get better!) At the time I wondered how Boris was able to carry a big strapping man like Mario all that way. Just repeat after me, it’s only a telenovela, it’s only a...
As a warning to other viewers, for the last few days our cable box hasn’t recognized LaTraicion as being a new episode and wasn’t automatically taping the show, so we finally just programmed it to tape anything in that time frame. Also, it’s annoying to have to program another few minutes at the end so I don’t miss out on the last moments of the show. Is it normal practice for Telemundo to delay their programs several minutes?
Jean, I can’t thank you enough for your daily recaps. I can’t begin to imagine how much time this takes and I’m constantly amazed at your in-depth reviews. I wish I spoke Spanish so I could take advantage of your recent Spanish lesson!
Nancy

Hi Nancy: Boris has carried Hugo around several times. I'm not sure how they film it much less how he can do it. Mario is shorter than Boris but still. What I meant though was that with all the fallen beams and whatnot in the mine, it would be difficult to walk with someone in your arms.

Obviously, I didn't read my title that way. It would have been more interesting than having Guillermo fall down in the mud. I wonder if he will pretend to be blind. That could be sort of amusing.

I have TiVo and I check it every day to make sure that it has LT on its 'to do' list but I haven't had any problems except for Valentines Day when Telemundo changed its mind about pre-empting LT.

Yes, it is very common on both Spanish channels to have the programs start and finish late. I'm sure there is some reason that they do that but I have to add 2 or 3 minutes to the end to make sure I get the whole thing. Maybe they think that if you've missed the first 2 minutes of some show on another channel, you'll just stay on this one.

It does take a lot of time to do the recaps especially since I like to watch the show straight through first and they watch it again stopping and starting it. It's good that it's on at 8pm because I'm not really a late-night person and doing a 9pm show is hard. As I posted yesterday, I've had quite a lot of experience doing these recaps although I've never done one solo. Sometimes the hardest thing to come up with is the title!

Thank you, Nancy, for the info. Now I have to see if I can find any of them on DVD!

I'm so excited! We have a new tv and I just figured out how to find the CC3! Yeah!!!!

Last night's episode was really good. I imagine that Soledad is going to be extremely mad to say the least when she finally discovers that Alcides is Hugo. She gets so close...

I can't wait for an episode where Ursula kicks Marina's butt good. I knew Marina was going to be trouble when she was jealous of Ursula and Boris in one of the earlier episodes.

Yes, I agree that they could have made Guillermo's return of sight a little more dramatic. Maybe he will pretend to be blind for awhile, that could lead to some new twists.

Did anyone watch this when it was on in the morning? At first it ran twice a day, once at 10am and then again at 8pm. It suddenly stopped running in the morning a couple of weeks after the show began. Anyone know why?

Many thanks to Jean and everybody for all the info and discussion!

Telemundo did the same thing with Zorro. I think just to give people lots of chances to get hooked on the show, they show it again but it doesn't last. The first couple of episodes ran without commercials too.

When Zorro started, I was watching another novela at 9pm and when they stopped multiple showings of Zorro, I had to go out and get another TiVo so I could record two programs at the same time.

As for Mario's previous novelas, I believe that Pasión de Gavilanes and Cuerpo de Deseo are available commercially on DVD. However, the commercial DVD's are edited from more than 100 hours to about 12. Some people don't mind while others find that it renders the novela incomprehensible. It is possible to watch these novelas on YouTube or to get pirated DVDs of the whole thing BUT there are no subtitles.

Thanks again Jean, I'm enjoying this novela! I'm deep into a project and barely have kept up with the show and recaps. In another two weeks, I'll be able to spend more time and comment more. Just wanted you to know I'm out there and I appreciate all the work you do...

Excellent work, Jean, as usual. I do appreciate that this series moves along VERY quickly by telenovela standards, but I'm getting a little frustrated with the slap-dash writing. Perhaps the online version omits some scenes/details that make things clearer in the TV broadcasts; I don't know. For instance, when Marina & Soledad were on the way to the mine & Marina said that the mine has only brought tragedy; that Don Alcides almost killed her (Soledad) there once, the same day Don Hugo almost died. Why the heck wouldn't Soledad have jumped on that? Hugo was supposedly already dead by then. Instead she just remembers that she was calling out for Hugo that day, as if he were still alive?!?!?!... Pay attention, Soledad honey, Marina just dropped a big one on you...

Also, I'm getting a little tired of how Hugo's attacks seem to be quite convenient (and variable) in duration. The attack that caused him to miss his wedding & be buried alive lasted DAYS, yet most of the recent ones appear to be conveniently over in a matter of minutes or a few hours at most, as on the night of Soledad's birthday party and now here at the mine. Then, not only does he emerge from the mine at pre-attack steam, but he's helping an apparently injured BORIS out of the mine, and not the other way around!

And Dr. Max with the lame "gunky blood proves paternity" theory. Has he ever checked Alcides' blood? How does he know the "substance" is not also present in the blood of a catalepsy CARRIER as well? (I know, it's only a telenovela....) I think I need some plot motion toward the reconcilation of Soledad & Hugo; all of this extended conflict is making me too snarky. I need them to kiss & make up a little already, even if it's only as a dream/hallucination, etc. :-)

And now that Esther has leaked a clue about her "past", it's pretty easy to guess what the "SDM" probably refers to on the medal given to Aurora, and exactly what Don Jeremias' "treasure" will turn out to be. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I guess time will tell...

Marie Celeste, one reason I can think of to justify that the catalepsy attack Hugo had on the night before his wedding was that he was also poisoned. Maybe this helped accentuated and prolonged the attack. The writers do keep using this method to conveniently subdue Hugo whenever they need him incapacitated. Interestingly enough, it looks like Aurora may be a weather forecaster of her daddy’s moods.

I hadn’t thought that maybe the “treasure” isn’t cash or jewels. Won’t that be a kicker for Rebeca & Company (whoever her partner in crime is at the time) if your theory turns out to be right.

There was a kiss at the end, albeit shortlived and then swiftly followed by a slap! Nancy

Marie Celeste:
I totally agree that Soledad (so far) has completely ignored the significance of Marina's comment about the mine. But that keeps happening - Soledad kisses Alcides and recognizes Hugo's lips but then says, (one of most used lines in telenovelas) - 'no puede ser!' 'it can't be!'
Dr. Max must be the best hypnotist ever. Whenever Soledad gets information that would suggest Hugo is alive, it just slides out of her brain.

Dr. Max is your typical mad scientist. He thinks he can raise the dead! Should we be surprised that he doesn't use the scientific method? ;-)

As for Hugo and his catalepsy attacks, I think there is some logic here.

Hugo's catalepsy attacks, or "crises", as Boris says, can be short or long. The one that got him buried alive was obviously a long one that maybe had to do with the poisoning and the carriage accident.

The writers have made a pretty clear difference between what happens to Hugo in enclosed spaces, what Alcides referred to as a 'panic attack' and a regular catalepsy attack. These aren't catalepsy attacks but can lead to them.

When Hugo has one of these panic attacks, he has trouble breathing, seems to be in pain and has a tendency to pass out. Let's look at the four panic attacks that Hugo has suffered.

1st time in the mine as Hugo Bandido- he passed out but woke up when Boris found him and was able to get out of the mine with Boris' assistance.

2nd time in the mine with Alcides & Soledad - he was obviously suffering but he didn't pass out and didn't get a regular catalepsy attack until after Boris found him along the river.

In prison - he has trouble breathing and passes out. When Soledad goes to him after the lowlife tries to suffocate him, she says he is cold and not breathing. But discussing it afterwards with Hugo, Boris does not consider this to have been a full-fledged catalepsy attack. Boris says,'¿Así que estuvo a punto de sufrir un ataque de catalepsia en la celda, señor?' 'So, you were about to have a catalepsy attack in the cell, sir?' and later, 'hoy casi sufre una crisis estando encerrado.' 'Today you almost had a crisis when you were locked up.'

Finally, the third time in the mine. Again, Hugo is having trouble breathing and he passes out after the exertion of moving the beam off of Arturo. Both Arturo and Boris find that Hugo is cold but he wakes up on his own and this does not appear to be a catalepsy attack.

It was definitely Boris helping Hugo out of the mine, not the other way around. Boris has to stop and rest on the way out because is he was exhausted and Hugo, although he has a conversation with Boris about the success of the mine salting endeavor, nevertheless, seems barely able to stay conscious.

Contrast these with the six catalepsy attacks Hugo has suffered: 1. after a confrontation with Alcides in the first episode; 2. when Fabio tries to kill him; 3. the night before his wedding; 4. after escaping from the the mine; 5. after Fabio tried to kill him the 2nd time; and 6. the one induced by Dr. Chirac.

In most of these (1, 2, 3 and 4) Hugo feels ill and knows he is going to have an attack but has no trouble breathing.

So now you can see that I spend waaayy too much time thinking about this novela!!!

Here is the little teaser for tonight's episode from Telemundo:

my translation:
Hugo tells Soledad that he is the only one who knows what is happening to baby Aurora but she believes that Alcides is trying to harm her and rejects all his help. Her attitude could separate them forever.

original:
Hugo es el único que sabe lo que sucede con la bebé Aurora y se lo dice a Soledad, pero ella cree que es Alcides tratando de hacerle daño y rechaza toda su ayuda. Su actitud podría separarlos para siempre.

Jean, thanks for the in-depth history of Hugo’s catalepsy attacks. I’m definitely at a disadvantage not speaking the language because I had thought that all these incidents were due to the catalepsy. I think we’re all spending too much time on this show, but, that’s half the fun, right!

As far as tonight’s episode where the teasers show Soledad rejecting Hugo’s help with Aurora, that went totally over my head. Of course, that can’t be allowed to happen because I think he would probably be the only one, besides Boris, who would recognize what was going on (please, let’s don’t bring Dr. Max into the mix). And why would Soledad prevent Hugo from helping because she has had overwhelming evidence that Hugo/Alcides adores the baby!

I thought you might enjoy seeing what I deal with when I try to get something translated. I took your passage at the end of your last posting and here’s what was put brought back in English:

“Hugo she is the only than he knows whatever it happens with the baby Aurora and oneself the he tells for Solitude , but she believes than she is Halcyon she handles than make dao and rejectable all his spring board. His attitude might be repel forever.”

I almost do better just picking out English-looking counterparts to the words and guessing at the rest. So you can see how heavily I rely on your recaps and additional posting explanations! Nancy

Hi Nancy: You see how I'm spending my time at work!

I understand how you could be confused if you are relying only on the summaries. I can't translate all the dialog so some of the subtleties get lost.

In the exploding mine episode on March 5, which was before I started doing the more detailed summaries, Hugo is about to go into the mine. Dr. Max says that he looks pale and Hugo says to Dr. Max:
-Tengo problemas con lugares cerrados, Max, y con lugares bajo tierra.

I have problems with enclosed spaces, Max and with places that are underground.

and Max replies:

-¡No tiene sentido que se exponga! ¿qué pasaría si por la ansiedad le da un ataque de catalepsia?

You don't know what you are risking! What if your distress provokes a catalepsy attack?

(Spanish dialog from a website, www.mabouchita.com, where a woman posts virtually the entire dialog of every episode in Spanish. My translation.)

It's not clear how sensistive Hugo was to enclosed spaces before he got buried alive. He was in prison for a while when Beatriz accused him of rape and he seemed to be ok but obviously since the buried alive incident, he can't tolerate such places for any length of time. Not such a smart idea, then, to have his Plan of Vengeance (PoV) involve a mine!

Jean,
Wow... you are definitely the Attacks documentarian! Thanks for making the distinction between panic vs. catalepsy attacks; I hadn't thought of it that way.

As for Boris helping Hugo out of the mine, for the better part of the process, that is what's happening. But as they emerge from the mine & rejoin the group outside, check the video again - Hugo is supporting Boris, with his right arm around Boris' waist and Boris' left arm over Hugo's neck. Marina runs up at that point & takes Boris from Hugo; shortly after, Soledad flys into his chest with relief. For a guy who just minutes before was semi-conscious, our Hugo rebounds pretty quickly. ;-) (Must be a Samson-type thing, from all that lovely hair!)
