OT: Comment thread for Premios TV y Novela

Don't know if this is is kosher on the blog (Melinama, I understand if you delete it) but since people have been mentioning it all week I thought I would provide a place to comment on it, in case people wanted to, like with the Cristina shows and so that it didn't muck up the comment threads for recaps.

My thoughts:
  • Pasion wuz robbed! I only watched a few episode of Destillando and although I would admit that it was good as the typical novela goes, Pasion was was on a whole other level. I can see Angelica Rivera over Susana Gonzalez but Yanez over Colunga? Sergio Sendel over Jose Elias Moreno (LaFont)?? And the guion for Destillando? Wasn't it just adapted from Cafe con Aroma de Mujer? How is that even remotely fair when Pasion was a fully tricked out original romance novel? Que the hell?
  • At least my girl Jimena (Marisol del Olmo) got a best supporting actress and German Robles, the guy that played Cami's first husband, who was in the novela for all of about 5 minutes got awards.
  • Lots of nods to Fuego en la Sangre. Yanez, Montero and Salinas did a really nice mariachi number. Montero is supposed to be the singer but Salinas has a gorgeous voice and Yanez did a good job too with his booming voice. Joaquin Cordero who plays the crazy old granpa got some kind of lifetime achievement award and pretended to be his Fuego caracter which was amusing. I wonder if this means that Fuego is going to sweep next year's awards.
  • Allisson Lozz is a younger, less stacked version of Maribel Guardia.

Nah..I was glad Destilando won, I loved that one, I recapped it thru the whole long thing and I loved it cause it had plenty to roll your eyes over..but you wanted everything to work out. Plus it gave me so much to snark on. I know how you feel though cause I felt that way when everyone was all Fernando/Lety/AldoAngel.

Still my shout-out to Destilando...you provided me with so much snarkiness.

I'm sure I'll dream of Rod and his sniffing problems & nice seeing crazy Aaron, yeah those eyes looked a crazed tonite.

Margaret, I'm with you in thinking Pasion was robbed. I haven't seen EY in much besides Fuego, but c'mon--giving him the win over Fernando?? I dojn't think it's fair.

I don't know who 'the jury' was, but they clearly voted for DA so much it seemed kind of rigged, to me. The announcements of the winners came a little too rapidly in some cases, and one time a winner was out of her seat and on the way to the stage before her name was called! It was a bit suspicious to me.

I'm so glad "Jimena" won, but Pasion got cheated out of many awards IMHO. Most of all Fernando!!

I too agree Fernando should have won. His range of acting in the role of Ric was far greater & better than the other two actors nominated.

So glad Marisol won. She deserved it for her work as Jimena. That would have been robbery if she hadn't won.

I too noticed this awards show this year was some sort of a popularity contest for Destilando. That's just my opinion.

I posted these most of these comments over in the Telenovela-world Pasion forum so I'll just repost them here also...

How sweet it was when Ana Martin blew a kiss to Fernando and called him her "principe Colunga".

I was watching the red carpet ahead of the show and had to do a triple take because I barely recognized Marisol with the dark hair, not in braids. She is really quite beautiful. And her gown, in my opinion, was the best of the night - elegant and classy.

Did you notice the guy, I think it was Fernando, standing up in the front row as Jorge, Pablo and Eduardo came out on stage to sing their mariachi song? I wonder what he was shouting up to them?

And then at the end, with the best actor award, I think the three guys were able to hear all the chanting for Fernando because Fernando was really smiling (and kinda looked like Ernie from Sesame Street) and then at the end of Eduardo's thank yous he pointed to Fernando and then up to the balcony before he thanked Ernesto Alonso (qepd) and left the stage.

Jody :)

Destilando Amor was more popular in Mexico . Kind of like Days of Our Lives compared to Masterpiece Theater.Fernando Colunga certainly has had better performances than EY but then again he may just have the sense to wait for better scripts.mhm

I was impactada last night as I watched as Destilando won almost every award. I began to worry when right off the bat ,Destilando won both directing categories, and when it won for best writing, I knew that it was a done deal. I can't believe that Destlando won all those awards over the excellence of Pasion. And, even though Eduardo is my second favorite telenovio, it is impossible that he won best actor over Fernandito. Que the hell happened ????? Who did the voting ??? I'm glad Marisol [Jimena] won , but come on...really . I am bummed.

I did think that it was kind of cute the way the three male galans all sat together in the front row, and I liked Ana Martin's clear display of which one she loved. You are a smart woman, Ana....and loyal. And ,,,the Bonbon singer...I won't even go there. ~~~Mad Bess, grumbling in her Cheerios

Well, folks, I'm a big EY fan. I'm glad he won - he's a very good actor once you get past the fact that he's a former football player. I think he's one of the few who don't need glycyerine tears to get the point across.

And, I loved the song the three Reyes sang together. I thought Eduardo sang better than Pablo and looked like he was having a real good time of it - true mark of a great entertainer.

Alisson Lozz was kind of disappointing. She's real cute and can dance, but needs to learn to sing on key. Maybe it was nerves.

I'm also happy that Marisol won, but equally happy that Ana Martin won also.

I loved Destilando and I loved Pasion, too. They are just very different. Those awards are, I think, mostly popularity contest, and the most popular novela won. P

Chantal Andere (Minerva from Destilando) also beat Daniela Castro (Lisabeta from Pasion), which I found shocking. Andere was awesome, but Castro was plus ultra awesome.

I did notice that when Andere's name was called, Castro was the first to jump up and applaud her.

So how do they vote on this thing? Were the people in the audience the only judges? Was there a free open bar first?

I recall hearing that Pasion did not do as well in Mexico, so I guess I just have to shake my head and say different people like different things.

Oh well. I loved Destilando, and in many ways it was more fun to recap. But Pasion was truly special, and I felt that it was better in almost every way.

By the way, what was the deal with Grampa from Fuego in his pajamas? (I had the captions turned off and I was flipping back and forth between the awards and my other shows...)

(I'm doing my version of E! red carpet recap here...lol)

I too thought Marisol looked fab. The color of her dress was beautiful and complimented her now dark hair. There were a few best dressed ladies in the audience but I have to point out that Susanna Gonzales looked sexy but classy. She went a smart & safe choice with a black dress and ladies you can never go wrong with a black dress. Plus it made her red hair pop. I saw her in "Amigas Y Rivales" and personally she looks better with red or auburn hair.

Last but definately not least the guys looked great sporting the casual wear. I have to do a eeny meeny miny mo cuz they all looked great so clear cut fav here.

If Pasion didn't do that well in Mexico, then it makes sense it wouldn't do well in an awards show based in Mexico. If someone who lives (have lived) in Mexico who is familiar with this awards show can fill in the blanks on the voting procedure for it, it would be appreciated.

Julie~~~I didn't notice Grandpa in pjs, but he got a lifetime achievement award. They showed old clips from his career. He was quite a handsome young man...probably the Fernando of his era. As for Allisson from Guatpos, I think she was very nervous. I noticed her hand shaking as she held it to her stomach when they took a closeup of her singing. Now, Ninel [?] did not look at all nervous. ~~~Mad still bummed Bess

You'll have to excuse any typos in my last post. I'm on 3 hours of sleep cuz I stayed up watching the Dallas Stars/San Jose Sharks 4 OT game last nite/this morning. Didn't end until 1:30 this morning. But the Stars won (woo hoo!!) & we play in the western conference finals against the Detroit Redwings starting Thursday nite. So it is worth the grogginess this morning. Safe to say I'll be in bed early tonight (lol).

Susanlynn: Nidel may not have been nervous but she sure needs to work on the lip syncing. At least she had a nice stage production to cover for it.

Well, from across the kitchen to my tiny TV they looked like pajamas - I thought maybe he was being funny. :) But two people walked him up to the stage so then I wondered if maybe he'd been ill.

Oh - on rereading the original post I see he was supposed to be in character. So he was in PJ's and not really sick... Thanks, Margaret!

Who took the Best Supporting Actor role? Who were the nominees? I missed that segment entirely.

I thought it was a total crime that La Paisana lost to Gaviota's mother. I like Ana Martin, but I thought that she was a little over-the-top as Gavi's mom. Maybe she deserves an Veteran Actress Award (is that what they mean by "Primera"?), but not for that role!

Ugh, it was a night of robberies.

I tagged this entry so that it will show up on all the lists.

I could not believe that Ninel Conde number--she was wearing a belly dancing costume and her choreography was like Shakira's . . . if Shakira had decided to become a Scores dancer.

That said, I thought it was a great song and could be a crossover hit in the English-speaking market.

Allison Lozz looked a bit nervous and sounded nervous too, but it was cute how her castmates were cheering her on.

I couldn't get into Destilando, so I naturally would have voted for Pasion, even though I checked out for the middle weeks and returned for the end. But Pasion was not most popular in Mexico. Guapos has been most popular here, although Fuego may move into the top spot.

I was also disappointed that Destilando won, but At least Marisol (Jimena) won! Also the man who played Timoteo. He gave a nice short speech!
Gramps has been acting a loooong time, obviously, so it's good he won his award. And those weren't pajamas...his shirt is considered a dress shirt in Mexico and other central american countries, I think, but I can't remember the name of it. It would be like wearing a suit, but in the heat, the dress shirt would be cooler to wear.

Did you notice how Fernando C. stood up and applauded for Eduardo? What a good sport! Too bad Sergio Sendel won over Bouffy, I think Bouffy was the better evil actor, hands down!

The three galans were surprisingly good singers! That was good entertainment! And, yes, Alison looked nervous, but it was a good effort.

In Allison's defense, I think that the monitors weren't working properly (the speakers on stage) weren't working properly which meant that she couldn't really hear herself. That's often what happens with these awards show productions. I noticed that the later acts all had those hook over the ear microphones. The guys who were singing with her were pros and were probably used to this sort of thing.

BTW, I had never watched this show before, and I thought it was fascinating that they have Best Villain and Villainess awards! If only the Oscars would follow suit.

The reason I thought Cordero (?) was in pajamas was not because of his shirt, but because of his pants appearing to be exactly the same color and material. That's pretty unusual in mens' clothing... except for pajamas.

Sendel plays pretty much the same character in every novela I've seen him in. That he won over Bouffy is probably the worst crime of the night. Ana Martin's role gave her a lot more opportunity than La Pasiana, who had a few choice scenes. I was really rooting for Daniela Castro though because she wants to come out of retirement and an award would be a nice way to do that. Chantal Andere was stiff competition though.

There really seemed to be no credit at all for what the actors on Pasion had to do on this show. The clips for Bouffy showed him in all kinds of action scenes, in period costume etc. The scenes with Sendel just showed him snorting and rolling his eyes in some office.

Gramps gave some crazy long speech. It seemed like they were trying to play music to cue him to get off as they do on the Oscars, but he didn't budge, and out of respect they couldn't really get him off.

Finally I found the thread for last nite premios and I'm glad that I'm not alone in my dissapointment.
I watched when they announced how the scores are counted ( I already new the results). First, month in advance the TV audience decides who are contenders. And after that everything is in the hands of the 10 people jury during the award evening. There also where included a few more people from the audience but I think they were counted as 1 vote. So 11 votes decided who is a winner.
The head of the jury was producer of Fuego, some of the members were people who made LFMB and some I didn't recognize. When you have a head of the jury casting one of the contenders in his current TN - it's doesn't sound kosher!
Overall the feeling was that all voting results were set long before the "party started".

I posted some of my thoughts under Fuego thread first and I will copy them here as well.

Eve from Cleveland

Premios is a popularity contest nothing more or less. Pasion did not do well in Mexico and was rumored to have been cut. EY over FC wasn't too much of a surprise. EY had more scenery to chew up but Changel over Daniela made no sense.

I laughed during the three amigos number. EY should stick to his day job and Pablo wasn't at his best. I was surprised at Salinas. I've been a fan of his for years back to his Morelia days and didn't know he could sing. Then A remembered he was in the original cast of Solo Por Mujers and they did sing as well as dance. They seemed to having a ton of fun.

Our girl Allysson did seem nervous but it was sweet to see her cast mates singing along and cheering for her.

Lastly enough already with the endless flogging of Fuego. I wonder if it is having ratings problems in Mexico?

Every year it seems one novela walks off with all the awards. Next year it could be Guapos or something we haven't even seen yet.

My repost from the Fuego thread:

I was devastated all week knowing the results since they originally were announced. This was a fixed voting. The head of the jury of 10 people was a producer of Fuego ( and we all know that he is casting EY )and almost all but 2 awards went to Destilando.
I'm really happy for Marisol who won the award. Also won the old guy - German Robles ( - who played Camilas's husband Tim. That's it! Even the award for original play (!) went to Desti even though everybody knows that it was remake of Café con Aroma de Mujer. Shame on them!
I'm just so mad!
EY plays all his roles absolutely identical - I'm still trying to distinguish his current character from Rodrigo. He is in no comparison to Fernando Colunga!
All villain should have gone to Pasion instead! Phone wrecking Aaron against "one eye"-"one leg"-"no head" Bouffy or evil ciega cuz Lis vs. whoever Chantal was - no comparison!
I'm OK with Ana Martin ( Gaviota's mom) vs. Paisana, especially when Ana Martin was getting her award the first phrase was - "Colunga, me principe!" - Colunga, my prince!
But Tomassi ( Aaron's dad) won against Rulli??? What did they think?

I have double feelings for Gaviota vs Camila - I would vote for both, so not too much of distress here.

And all general filming awards went to Desti - it's a shame! Camerawork showing agave fields and technology how to produce tequila was better then real action movie battle on ships or Ric's really exciting sword fighting or all love scenes????

And consequently the best movie award ...

Overall it was the greatest disappointment!

I wish we could sent our love and admiration to sra Carla Estrada and all her team and especially to Fernando Colunga!
Eve from Cleveland

I hope that this loss to Destilando does not make Carla abandon creating her wonderful historical novelas. They are my absolute favorite novelas. I thought I was dreaming last night when they kept announcing Destilando as winner. However, you had to feel sorry for the guy who plays Juan as he sat between Fernando and Eduardo and won nada for nada. Susana looked regal in the elegant black gown and upswept, classic hairdo. She is a class act. Marisol and Angelica also looked beautiful in their aqua gowns. I guess Angelica was sitting between her daughters, but Susana appeared to be alone. Oh well, in my mind, Pasion won all the categories. ~~~Mad Bess, still sulking and disbelieving

We wuz robbed! I don't get why anyone thinks Yanez deserves to win over Fernando C., or for that matter, why he beat Jaime Camil in La Fea that year. Yanez, whom I like o.k., is just no match for those two.
Other than Marisol and German Robles, the acting awards went to the best overactors, which Destilando was full of.
I was laughing at how hot it must have been in that auditorium - everyone had shiny, sweaty foreheads. Even in Acapulco the a.c. ought to work.
The show itself wins "Worst Production" - the sound was laughably bad, the camera work boring (hardly any audience shots),
no scene design, the audience looked cramped and hot. What a joke!

BEST moment - Ana Martin calling Fernado her prince! ¡Cierto!

Eduardo Yanez looked very hunky to me last night, I liked him with his scruffy beard and think he has tons of magnetism. It was cute when he yelled out GAVIOTA! when he first appeared on the stage to accept his award. I think his role in D A offered him more emotional scenes than Pasion offered Fernando so I do think Eduardo deserved the award. However F C has a beautiful personality as he is always smiling and doesn't take this all too seriously. Poor Bouffy, Rulli and Castro should have won in their categories but I feel but Angelica Rivera had a meatier role than Susana Gonzalez and has more charisma as an actress.

Please don't give me the stink eye for my opinions, F C fans. Just kidding.

Haven't posted since Pasion ended but that awards show was a farce IMHO. How the h*ll can a remake win over a original show. That stinks. It just seemed like one big popularity contest. Fernando should've won and so should have Susana. I know some didn't like her and thought she was miscast as Camila initially but IMO she proved herself worthy of the role and gave a astounding performance. I was glad that Marisol and German Robles won that's about it. Pasion is a winner in my book and is already considered to be a classic and Carla Estrada and crew made another masterpiece.

Not to be patronizing, but think of the Latin audience..ahhhh look-up "Naco" in the Urban dictionary.

My husband was pretty much bored senseless with Pasions, he knows basic Mexican history (esp the Pancho Villa part), but he found the language tedious and it was pretty sad that he was asking me what certain words meant.

It's like ask the avg american what they would like better, Desperate Housewives or John Adams on HBO. I think you'll have your answer.

Most people could relate to the whole how you make Tequila thing..but most people can't relate to the pirates thing, maybe if you grew up in Vera Cruz, but anywhere else not so much.

Also the whole aristocrat thing where they just raped women and so on probably did happen, but Mexico has always had ways with taking care of people like that and I laughed when I would see Lafont riding around by himself..in reality he would have been so dead.
People like him did not travel without heavy guards

I thought that awards supposed to be given for the quality of work, not the popularity contest. Yes, I also understand that Desti was much more appealing to the broader Mexican audience but it's a quantity, not quality!
The same is happening now with Fuego that i read is very popular around in Mexico but a lot of people cast their doubts that it would have the same effect on other countries. Even we can tell that it's not a masterpiece!

If it was a popularity contest they could of given awards by results of the viewing audience, the numbers are easily available!
Why bother then with such a farse like we had yesterday?

Eve from Cleveland

Sorry, incoherent. Should have said: I feel that Angelica, NOT, I feel but Angelica. I proofread it but it didn't matter.

Eduardo better not win again next year for a third time especially for FUEGO since his role is very similar to the one in D A.

G in CA

People it IS a popularity contest. No contest where the voters are the general public is EVER going to reward total quality. It is just the Latin version of the People's Choice awards. Actors aren't voting for their peers and even that gets dicey at times. This was strictly popularity.

I was not feeling dissappointment. I felt confused and mad. How could a work so unusual as Pasion be passed by for run-of-the-mill shows. How could great performances, sets that would compete with any wide screen movie film, writing and time and plot sequencing be ignored.
When it finally got to best production I no longer expected Carla to be acknowledged with the award that she earned. Pasion was treated like an art piece.
When it comes to selecting a show and saying it was more popular it runs the risk of number counting. If they don't ask everybody then the numbers are wrong. And of course they can't ask everybody.
I can't imagine any of the professionals in that audience leaving the theater believing they did a better job than the crew and cast of Pasion or the set designers even. It didn't get awards that I wanted them to get but Pasion didn't lose anything.
It was great performance on every level. The work itself should last as art like paintings in a museum, for study and enjoyment.

Shakespeare is not popular until you study him in high school.

The Reyes brothers' song - Two of them sang well. The third ... I agree, Yanez, don't quit your day job. I wish he would have sung solo - so low we can't hear him. Did you notice all the screaming while Yanez was singing? I think the audience was trying to drown him out! Or else they were in as much misery as me. Okay, end of that snark.

For best senior actor, why German and not the one who played Don Jorge? He was fabulous!

Yes, the TVyNovelas thing is definitely a farce. The Desperate Housewives/Masterpiece Theatre analogy was perfect. Anything that is a general public/popularity contest type thing seldom rewards good acting. Fernando is a total class act, showing up for the travesty.

The loss for our fave Bouffy bothered me the most. He was THE MOST impressive villain I've seen in around 10 years of watching these things. He was always in character, always evil. And he never seemed to be smirking in a moustache-twirling over the top kind of way. Just totally acting the role the whole time.

And I forget the exact category, something about directing the scenes. And they showed the fabulous boarding scene by the pirates when Fer swings onto the boat. And Pasión lost the category!

I recently learned the explanation for the travesty that was last year's TVyNovela awards show, and that explanation provides a very clear glimpse into just how "unreliable" (e.g. corrupt) the results are.

Last year, Fea was La Reina de la Noche (!!) like DA this year. Fea won nearly every category. Even Jose Jose who was so catatonic, he makes our beloved Pablo look manic by comparison. Even the Fea theme song which makes me wish I was listening to a bagpipe concert instead. Fea swept nearly every category. Fea was wildly popular in MX and the US, so if TVyNov was a popularity contest, it would win on that count alone.

The best thing about Fea was Camil's Don Fernando. Some say the only good thing about it was Camil (I differ; I loved the whole show). He gave a legendary performance on a legendary show. Overacted, yes, but it was supposed to be. Since the show ruled the awards, he was a shoe-in for Best Actor, right? He WAS the show! He'd won the popular voting by a landslide. Yet he lost the award to Yanez.

How'd that happen? Well, it turns out that Camil is not contracted to Televisa. He's independent; he does not belong to the network like the others. And Televisa was not about to let a non-contract actor, especially in his first novela lead, win the prize of the night, Best Actor. No way, no how, regardless of the popular vote. So the judges made sure Yanez won.

So you see, the choices for those little statues are about as "fair and impartial" as the time Marcia Brady tried out for the cheerleading squad. It's all scripted by the writers, and as always, Big Brother Televisa gets what it wants. View it as a night to see your favorites out of costume, in pretty dresses, but certainly don't view it as an honest contest. Far from it.

Wow, Paula, this was a revelation!
So without contract - no awards? I wish I knew it a week ago, it would of save me the aggravation!

Well, in that case - I will stay with for non-contracted art piece as a Pasion and all the team who made it into it! And I agree completely with Bonney Churros that it's like artwork in the museum, perfectly made from any angle.

Eve from Cleveland

Ahhhh, about Camil, he also made it well known during the extensions, that he had other offers, movies, broadway, and so on. He made it clear that he was not just a TeleNovela actor.

While that is all true, don't you know that sat well with his TeleNovela peers, that is why I figured he didn't win. I actually saw him in some earlier TeleNovelas and his performance was so bland, I didn't even remember him. So I am sure his quoting his resume didn't go over well with people who have been grinding these things out 3 a year for a couple of decades

Chalk me up as another overall disappointed viewer of the awards show. I was happy for Ana Martin. At least La Paisana got a nomination.
I was ok with Angelica Rivera winning for Gaviota, but thought the Pasion villains gave a vastly superior performance.
Couldn't believe Sebastian Rulli lost to Destilando Dad.
Very happy for Marisol winning for Jimena and for German Robles--loved him as Timoteo.
Eduardo over Fernando--never in a million years or a million roles. He does play each role the same.
Milli/Allison singing was not the best, but cute performance.
The tres Reyes hermanos singing--that was kinda fun. When they finished and turned, leaving the stage, you could see they worked in a bakery--those were some nice buns on display.
Now I know not to take this show seriously, if I watch it another year.
La Paloma

Melinama - now that Fernando C. is missing in action again, how about changing his caption back to "We miss him" and put in a photo of him as Ricardo? I liked his shorter hair look as R. Carvajal, as opposed to the scarf wearing Antillano.
Hope it's ok to post this here. Just a teeny suggestion....from a sad fan of Pasion.

...you know, I always feel better about something when it's explained with a Brady Bunch analogy.

I get it, so Pasion was like Masterpiece Theater... but with much, much hotter people. And pirates. And no English people, except for that one guy who wasn't even really British.

I'm just hoping Fuego doesn't turn out like Benny Hill!

It could be another Benny Hill. It has the wacky older man,the bosomy bikin beauty, and lots of silliness. (Been a while since I've seen any Benny Hill.)
La Paloma

Sorry, that was supposed to be bikini beauty, not bikin' beauty.
Fernando C. likes motorcycles. Maybe they could do a quick biker version of Pasion. La Paisana would be natural for a motorcycle mama, as would Jimena.

I'm with Anya on the request for changing the pic for Fernando - I don't even recognize him on this picture because I've never watched the novela it's came from ( either Amor real or Alborada?).

Eve from Cleveland

The thing with Allisson was that it is way hard to dance all over the stage like that and sing live. She was sucking wind big time. Mind you, I hate the way Latino artists always lip synch. It's totally tacky (I'm a singer, so I'm allowed to say that). But they needed to dumb down the choreography and let her catch her breath. She actually has a very nice voice.

Yeah, it was cute how her companyeritos were cheering her on.

Julie~~~~You crack me up...''Masterpiece Theater which much, much hotter people.''

No, please don't change TBLMOE photo. I've been looking at the photo for a year now (no, not continuously; that's my story and I'm sticking to it), and I still catch my breath when I see it. Ricardo Carvajal's look is fine. Extra-fine. But the Amor Real look ... be still, my beating heart.

Julie, you always crack me up. "I always feel better about something when it's explained with a Brady Bunch analogy." Of course Fuego will never be anything like Benny Hill. Benny Hill was far too serious to be similar!

I think my problem is I rate all these, by who would I party with?
Seriously, like in LFMB, Fernando and Omar were awesome, and I don't mean it in a romantic way..towards the end Marsha or whatever Fern's ex's name was would have been fun. Simon with out Niurka and Aldo only for the eyerolling and to stick him with the check. I kinda thought Juanita was funny & Lola needed to cut loose.

On Destilando, Gavi would have been fun, Sofie would have been fun to snark on, Aaron would have been awesome in a snide way, Rod's lil sis and her boyfriend. Rod would be fun when he was drunk and not setting cabins and crap on fire..to get the for God's Sake Man Pull yourself together, walk it off and buy us another round. Rod's wife I forgot her name, would have been a hoot to be around when she was sporting the baby belly clothes.

Pasions, Jimena, Mario, Vasco, maybe even slut Ursula, & for sure Tia Fortuna, she was just waiting to cut loose, the twins and several of the pirates.

See I only see these people in the context of amusing me.

Guapos..
Geez, really Damien would probably be the most fun to party with as long as you didn't carry any money, even Consti in a snotty kinda of way. The kids are too young for me to rate. Luci would be okay cause you could torture her with snide baby daddy comments.

Regarding Masterpiece Theater (shouldn't it be Theatre?), how 'bout Don Jorge for Alistair Cooke's part? His voice and diction alone should qualify him!

Beckster~~~I like the way you think.

I thought Allisson Lozz's singing was really good at first, but then she got a little overexcited, and shouted a bit. But she has a really nice voice. As for the 3 guys, I thought Pablo Montero's voice was beautiful, modulated and sensitive. Jorge Salinas was good, but had no real vibrato. If you remember from Destilando, Yanez really can't sing (in the show, he sang way off key once, and Angelica Rivera seemed to wince)- so they just gave him one line in each verse, which he managed to sing perfectly well (but not in the same league with the others).

One thing that made it difficult to judge the singers was the poor sound production.

By the way, I'm probably wrong, but I thought they were talking about the show being al aire libre, which means outside. Could it have been an ampitheatre? It's much harder to control sound in these, and that would explain all the sweating.

Al aire libre makes me feel better, I was becoming nervous when the bob bon girl was singing and dancing in her barely there outfit and it did have long sleeves or a shawl or something that looked flammable and there were flames coming from those torches at the front of the stage. Not a great idea in my book.

For those needing a Fernando Colunga fix, Telefutura is airing "La Upsadora". Check your TV guides for times cuz they may vary. Here in Dallas/Fort Worth it comes on at 4:00 M-F in the afternoon.

Thanks for the explanations on how this award show works. If any of the losing actors were upset by it, they didn't show it (at least on camera..lol).

I just have not been able to get into "Fuege". I've tried & tried & it is just not capturing my interest. Maybe I just need a break from the telenovias for a while (hahahaha).

Well I’m going to take a chance at throwing out my opinion here and hope I don’t get booed off the stage BUT I had to give up on Pasion early on because the acting was so poor straight across the board. Everyone was just striking poses and the end result for me was that with the sumptuous costumes and gorgeous sets it looked like a series of paintings. Since all the performances seemed to have this shortcoming, I blamed the director and not the actors. A few actors were able to let their talent peek through, and I was glad when the actress playing Jimena got an award, and the actor playing Tim.

Last year I was crushed when Jaime Camil didn’t win, but then I saw DA and saw what Yanez could do and I was blown away. I don’t think anybody can do an emotional melt-down scene like he does. And Sergio in DA was worth the price of admission – he was terrific.

I didn’t get the voting procedure either – it looked like the one they have on America’s Funniest Home Videos!

I liked the Masterpiece Theatre vs Desperate Housewives comparison. My impression is that the voters like a lot of kicked up drama. Destilando certainly offered more crying, screaming, etc. per episode than Pasion. It was my first time to see a Premio, probably will be my last...

I've been watchoing noveas for two years now and i love them. I watched the awards and was so upset. Can't believe fernando did,t get the award and julli. To me pasion is a masterpiece. action in every episode. What i liked best is that the two lovers were in love the whole time and just had problems getting together. In sharp contrast, angela met other men and rod was married, so there was always that tension of competition. La fea also. sje had aldo and camile had marcia. Did anyone catch the look on aaron's face when he was coming into the building. If looks could kill, he had it. He seems to be a villan in real life as well. no wonder he did such a good job. did anyone notice the big smile on fernando's face when the votes were being counted. I think he thought for sure that he would get it. This had to be the shock of the year. I also thought bouffy would get villan of the year. he was awesome. I loved the romance between gav and rod; however Fernando is the man!!!!! Ret

Eduardo Yanez won because he simply deserved it! I'm really surprised to see how many people here think Colunga is a good actor! Sorry but for me, he's mediocre! Eduardo was Televisa's golden boy in the 80s/early 90s and when he came back in 2006 (in his late 40s), he became once again the golden boy uhumm! It's just amazing how this guy is charismatic, having him in a novela equals RATINGS! He's not only good looking, he's a wonderful actor and he deserved the awards he got for La Verdad Oculta and Destilando Amor more than Jaimi and Colungay

One more thing, someone said that Yanez got the award for La verdad oculta cause Jaimi didn't have a contract with Televisa, guess what? Yanez doesn't have an exclusivity contract with Televisa either! So i don't know what's your point really hehe..
