English translation of "Bombon asesino" (Bonbon Assassin)

One of our readers posted the words to the Bonbon Assassin song in the comments. I tried to do a quick little translation (see following). Corrections welcome!

BTW "Bonbon" is a french word for candy.

BTW I think Ninel Conde looks much better in this picture than she does as Rosario in El Fuego de la Sangre - less makeup, and maybe less icing.

Mi cinturita
que parece que a todos ajita
si me pongo una falda cortita
El meneo me la sube todita

Gritan Bonita
Cuando bailo uno que otro se excita
si supieran que yo estoy tan solita
y les bailo porque soy dynamita

Si se sabe bombon asesina
Se sabe bombon piel latina
y me dicen bombon soculento
que por mi bombon cansamiento
saben que bombon que lo mueve
menea el bombon cuando quiere
me dicen bombon insaciable
que soy un bombon masticable
me dice bombon

My little waist that agitates everybody
If I put on a short skirt,
my waggling (moving, shaking) hitches it up all the way

They shout "Beautiful!"
When I dance, one after another they get excited
If they knew I was so alone
And I dance for them because I'm dynamite

Yes, I'm the bonbon assassin, latina skin,
Succulent bonbon, singing, I move them,
I waggle when it's wanted
They call me the insatiable bonbon,
A tasty (chewable) bonbon, they call me bonbon.

Ajitar is, I think, a version of agitar: Move with frequency and violence from side to side; bother, worry, move the spirit violently; provoke restlessness.

I envy anyone who can look good in yellow.

Ugh, this picture just makes me mad! I was shocked when I saw it! Women who pose that way set us back 100 years. Look at her, wearing such a revealing outfit with her cleavage hanging out (I don't know if those are implants or not) and pulling the fabric down on her shorts or whatever they are. This is why men disrespect women and think it is okay to go to strip clubs and look at pornography. A woman needs to have a sense of MODESTY, not flaunt herself so suggestively! Most parents would be appalled if their daughter grew up to dress and pose like that--at least the parents I know would! And think of the type of man a woman is going to attract if she poses and dresses like that! I shudder to think. As I said, I was shocked and upset when I saw this photo, and then the only comment I saw before mine was complimentary, which upsets me. When I used to post on a certain lowcarb site, someone posed the question of if you lost all the weight, would you pose for Playboy. Well SO MANY of these women said yes! I just couldn't believe it! They just could not see why this was wrong and how it sets us back. Again, this is why so many men disrespect us and think it is okay to go to strip clubs and such. But then, there were alot of women on that lowcarb site who saw nothing wrong with going to strip clubs or with being a stripper! I wrote about this on my homepage (there is a blog entry about modesty, and a story about my adventures on the Internet). Anyway, I just cannot stress enough that women need to have a sense of modesty, and we should not ENCOURAGE this type of behavior, the way she is dressed and posed and flaunting herself.

Julie, redheads also look good in yellow. And green, believe it or not. Ninel is a beautiful woman.

Melinama, thanks for reposting the words to this song.

Also, I want to thank the person who posted the words to the Fuego theme song.

Would you feel like reposting those at some point, so they'll be handy, too?

I agree that Nina is beautiful. Unfortunately, some actresses think they can't get anywhere unless they get implants. It must be a requirement since so many actresses seem to think it's important to have them. She reminds me of a barbie doll. The boobs look exactly the same! And they don't move when she does! Eeeek!

Is the bonbon song the only one she knows? She sings it over and over!

Cindybin, remember that this telenovela plays out like it was a hundred years ago... no cells, t v, computers and Sofia's clothes. Just kidding. Nidel's bonbons are ridiculous and it's too bad a woman feels she needs to look this way to attract attention. Because the attention will not be on her other assets (mind.)

Melinama,,,,sorry, forgot to thank you for the translation.

Sorry, Cindybin, I just don't have it in me to condemn a woman for being pretty. Nor do I think it's her fault if some men are disrespectful.

Men are adults and can take responsibility for their own actions. If you're going blame women for what men do, then you've just given men an endless supply of excuses to keep being disrespectful. Maybe you should hold them to a higher standard instead.

Thanks Melinama, for the fun picture and the song in both Spanish and Englisn. It is so much a part of the fun of this telenovela and I am a pro beauty, pro freedom of expression commenter and sometime recapper.

Cindybin, I am not sure why it is important to you to stress women needing to have a sense modest. Ninel is beautiful and as a grown woman she has free choice to do what she wants with her talents. And we all have free choice to watch her or not. Remember, "different strokes", it is okay for many of us to be comfortable with physical expression. I would only object to a girl underage being used by others with out her free will as an adult to guide her. Clearly this is not the case here.

So Rock On Ninel, even if your implants do look a little unnatural. And they do look great in yellow. When I used to color my hair red, I could wear yellow too. Now with all white hair it doesn't look so good but hurray for people who can wear it so fetchingly!!

Am I the only one having trouble with this site? When I click on my Favorites link for Caray, Caray, I no longer get the side bar with the pictures of Fer and Jaime, nor the recappers, nor links to click on the various novelas. The only way I can find the recaps I'm looking for is endless scrolling through the ones I don't watch to get to the ones I do. This was the case the last time I looked, Thursday May 29. I didn't look on Friday because I had not yet seen Thursday's capitulo and prefer to see them before reading the recaps.

novelera, it sounds like maybe you have gone from frames to no-frames.

I don't know how you did that, since you probably use a Windows machine, and I've only used Macs since 1985.

But maybe someone else here can direct you how to get back to using frames, if that is the situation.

Modesty? Screw modesty.

Thank Melinama! That was fun. I wish the band would write another song for her though.

In real life I'm not for super big bon bons, but folks, this is a telenovela and a dumb one at that. If you don't like bad taste then change the channel because sponsors hate poor ratings. I will continue with my bad taste.

You mean the tiny invisible band that plays underneath the flaming stage?? :)

It is pretty funny when there are two nightclub scenes in the same episode, supposedly a couple of hours apart, and she's still singing the same song!! But the crowd is always so drunk, it's as if they're hearing it for the first time. :)

Yeah, that band, I wish they would hurry up with a new song because that darn Bonbon Assassin has been invading my head all day!

Ms. Sharkbait, where did you find your cute, funny pirate bakery item? See you aren't ready to give up Colunga. Not truly committed to FELS yet, apparently.

Ah..now the song has meaning for me...que the hell? Like Sylvia, the bonbon song percolates and circulates in my brain a lot...which makes concentrating on things like teaching the past perfect progressive tense very difficult. Ninel's bonbons are purchased , but I guess whatever floats your boat. She has them, so she is flaunting them. Different strokes for different folks. I tend to cover up...maybe because I stand in front of people all day and I can't sing and yellow doesn't look good on me [despite my mother always telling me that it was my best color] . Some people are less inhibited than others. Last summer, I tutored a very welleducated cultured ,wealthy lady from Brazil [she was a teacher and an artist] and her 20 something daughter and was always amazed at their tight, lowcut teeshirts as I sat across from them all covered up in my tee and a little jacket. Some people are less inhibited than others.

Wow, I take back all my snarky, comments about the PussyCat Dolls..
donna cha, or donna cha wish your girlfriend was hawt like me..lyrics. Although just saying the lyrics at my old job (a flight school) was call for amusement. Those lyrics are deep compared to the bon-bon lyrics..

Cindybin: I totally get your point and as a product of the 70's women are equal generation, I find it disgusting that women have so reverted, but look at what sells. Next time you are in a store take a look at a Bratz doll, ole barbie looks like a middle age frump. Yeah this actress has gone to what I would think of as a serious porn actress, she is so modified. She was in Rubi and I don't think she was like that

here is a link to a before and after

Wow, that is quite a before and after. I can't tell if she really changed her face or not - it's hard to tell with the harsh and unflattering makeup in the "before" picture.

The boobs are obvious enough - I'm pretty sure we established that on the first day. :) I suppose if you spend that much money on something, you want to make sure everyone gets a good look.

(What in tarnation are "implants for her behind," anyway? And do they need donors??)

Julie~~~LOL !!!

I didn't recognize her from Rubi -- I guess that's why!

Howdy =)

Quick note - "bombon" in Mexico means marshmallow (they also use the term "malvavisco"), but as Hispanics don't necessarily consider "fullness" to be unattractive, marshmallow is a compliment. Apparently, in Argentina it's slang for "beautiful woman" (according to Babylon). As Melinama mentioned, "bonbon" is candy in French. Literally, it means "good-good." Some Hispanics also use the words bombon and caramelo (caramel) to mean candy.

C in GA, I got the pic from a cake decorating blog. I think I should make a cake exactly like it to be completely honest. It will be chocolate of course! And no, not quite ready to give up on Colunga. Maybe when the Pasion DVD is released...

Si se sabe bombon asesina
Se sabe bombon piel latina

I thought se sabe refered to taste rather than knowledge, like sabe a chocolate...so the lines would read something like Yes it tastes like killer candy, It tastes like candy latina skin. But maybe I've got my tenses mixed up.

Thanks, Melinama! I really appreciate having the words--I've only heard bits and pieces.

Yesterday I heard the Fuego theme song and cranked it up in my car--if anyone was close enough, they probably thought I was nuts, or deaf, or making myself deaf. I've never heard this on the radio yet, though.

After reading cindybin's comment, I was staying away from this potential flame war. Obviously I don't have a huge problem with Ninel's choice of attire. I will say that her enormous inflated boobs are more of a curiosity than anything, looking real instead of plastic is better. But, she wants to be noticed and sing a song about how we all want to see her hike up her skirt, so mission accomplished. Who am I to argue?

I don't think looking is disrespectful. I think she'd be more offended if you didn't look. :)

Margaret: "sabe" could mean "to know" as in "el tesoro del saber" (the treasure of knowing, or knowledge) or how something tastes (I think it's derived from "sabor" which means "flavor") but I think you're right about it being the latter.

I love this site! It's so funny!
Bombon is definitely marshmallow, and in Mexican dialect it means likes hotstuff, Like "hola bomboncita" "Hey hottie!" Like the most delicious girl in the room.
As for se sabe, it's like everyone knows, but maybe it's a play on words too, I don't know. I took it like "it's known I'm tasty as hell."
Ok, as for IMPLANTS, those things are so ridiculous, but it's definitely the booty implants that make me laugh! And yes, she definitely has them, you can tell!
And this song is soooo old, I can't believe they keep playing it in this show. Maybe she doesn't have any other hits? Maybe they will introduce some new songs in.
