Doña Bárbara - Wed., Aug. 27: Santos wakes up; DB works on finding her inner flower; Cecilia gets a surprise

Some pics from yesterday's episode:

Cecilia tells Bárbara that love is more than sex. She says that Santos respects women and treats them like flowers and Bárbara is a no flower. Bárbara tells Cecilia that she is a dried up old spinster who has never bloomed. They both decide to act on what the other has said.

Bárbara tells Santos that she will bloom for him.

So it's flowers, flowers, flowers everywhere much to the astonishment of the people at Fear Ranch.

Which of these 'Daughters of Mary' doesn't belong?

Cecilia goes to look for Antonio and she finds him - all of him!

It appears that Luisana and her brother are coming to Altamira. The same guy who played a priest in Pasión de Gavilanes plays one here.

ooooooh! Swimming scenes. They learned from FELS. ;o) I might have to start tuning in more often.

Are the women wearing veils muslims?

thanks jean for the photo recap. between the olympics and now the democratic convention, I haven't been able to watch a complete episode.

Jody :)

Better yet-- that strategically placed hat is FELS imspired too. I like hat covers a lot. Now if I could just make one of those little sleezy winky emoticons I'd be set.

Is this new?

Jean, You CAPtured all this perfectly. Thanks so much for the pictures to high light the story. I watched my first full episode last night but got a bit of background from reading the Wikipedia synopsis which also traces the 3 movie versions of DB and this newest telenovela. Also thanks to someone, and I can't find the reference again but now have the URL's to the site maintained by Carolina Acosta-Alzuru, the telenovela scholar. http://telenovelas-carolina.blogspot.com/2008/08/doa-barbara-and-picture-in-my-head.html
She also adds more URL's to check out.
I haven't seen Edith be a real wild woman yet since I missed the first weeks of broadcast, she was certainly learning the flowery woman routine quickly last night. Santos seems afraid of her beauty and her perfume. And has Barbara been taking BadMom lessons from the FELS queen of bad mom's, Gabi? Marisela seems like a mistreated, wild creature. But I will try to catch up on the Telemundo site.

Oh my Jean...you already know how I admire your computer expertise in posting these photos, but today was EXTRA special. Thanks.

Thanks for the great photos, Jean. Lo and behold my (I thought) dead satellite box did a Lazarus on me last night and worked for FELS and DB. That scene with Cecilia and DB was impactante! I kept wishing C would slap her for her mean comments, but she's too well bred.

And El Brujeador caught Balbino Paibo partying in the town where he had gone to erect the fake headstone for the guy (sorry, forget his name) who had helped DB cheat Lorenzo out of his hacienda.

I'm wondering what further treachery will be in store from the girl (one of las ternuras - las nietas de Malesio). She looks conflicted, but she's deep in lust with the vaquero from El Miedo.

Trust me, FELS did not invent the swimming and hat covering scenes :-). Every novela I have seen Christian Meier in, he spends time (and usually has sex) in the water. In La Tormenta, another RTI/Telemundo production from 2006, he even got to do the naked but the hat scene.

Hi Novelera:
I'm glad your satellite box came through.

I think DB was there when Santos remembered that it was someone firing a shot that spooked his horse and caused him to fall. Will DB put that and Balbino Paibo's sudden flit together and figure out that he was the one who tried to kill Santos? Or is she too much into the language of flowers?

The traitorous nieta (I will never remember the names of all those girls) is going to end up preggers for sure so if she doesn't give the game away before she starts to throw up or show. No way she's hiding anything in the dresses those girls wear!

Amazing how the mind works. I just remembered the traitorous nieta's name reading your post, Jean. It's Genoveva.

And it doesn't matter how many evil tricks DB catches Balbino in. This guy is going to repeat and repeat his maldades for the whole novela. That's the way TNs work! They didn't kill off the same guy in the same sort of role until the very end of Madre Luna.

Check out the pictures from Sin Senos No hay paraiso-- it's a widget and can be linked to your blog, facebook, myspace, etc..

Jean, you made my day! Those photos were a great inspiration. As I've said before, you know macho.

From what I gather, DB and Cecilia are interested in younger men. Not that there's anything wrong with that! What ages do you think they (DB, Santos, Cecilia, Antonio) are suppose to be? It will be really interesting when the city ex-girlfriend comes to 'reclaim' Santos...

Nice job Jean. I'll admit I'm hooked on this one. I never seem to have enough time these days so might not always comment, but I promise to check out your posts, especially if you keep posting pics like the one of Antonio wearing his hat. Mmmmmm...

I missed the first couple of episodes and watched them on the telemundo site, not sure if they are still there though.

Thanks for all the awesome shots and comments Jean. Also thanks to all the folks who looked into "rebullones" as well. Who knows? Maybe you're right and they only exist for Barbara and Juan Primito. Years ago I had a Wica roommate that occasionally used to feed "the fairies." Thankfully she did it outside, so we didn't incur any ants as a result.

Doris, the women aren't muslim, they were the "daughters of Mary" and were wearing veils while praying their rosary. I loved Jean's caption about which one "doesn't belong." It was funny that Mujiquita's wife covered her head, but not her cleavage ;)

Melesio's wicked "ternera" (calf) is named "Gervarsia." I only remember it because it's the same name as the title character in "El Pantera." I think the guy she hooked up with is named "Leon" (lion), the brother of "Tigre" (tiger). Tigre is played by the same guy that played Andres in LT, and sadly doesn't look as good in a wife beater as he did in buttoned shirt with a vest. The stubble doesn't work for him either.

Anon 8:48 - I think Marisela is supposed to be a little shy of 18, and Barbara was about the same age when she had her, which would make her around 36. Cecilia is probably about the same age, maybe a year or two older. Santos was probably around 12 when he left the area, which would make him about 30. Antonio is probably around 2 years younger than that. Sooo, the difference between Santos and Barbara is about 6 years, and about 8-10 between Antonio and Cecilia. Off course, she's also still carrying the torch for Lorenzo, who is probably a couple of years older than her. Meanwhile Santos lusts for the older Barbara, unaware that his 18-year-old second cousin is crazy about him. Edgar Alan Poe and Jerry Lee Lewis would disaprove ;)

Tanxs Anon for all your age calculations. As add ons:

GR is 21 BUT 18 inTVN(+3Really) =ok passes
ED is 40,BUT 36 inTVN(+4Really))=NO looks older
CM is 38,BUT 30 inTVN(+8)=NO looks older -due to his white hair..yet too young for DB/EG.

SL is -6 yrs < DB (30 vs 36)
Really CM is -2yrs < EG (38 vs 40)
Incredible ! she looks much older

SL is + 12yrs > Marisela(30 vs 18)
Really CM is + 17yrs> GR(38 vs 21)
Unbelievable ! he looks fine .

SL is 8 yrs < CM (30 vs 38)
DB is 4 yrs < ED (36 vs 40)

CONCLUSIONS-generally:
- Actors are given younger roles.
- Men look younger than women
- TG tints exist ! ..
would someone plse give 1 to handsome CM per favor?
