Cuidado con el Angel - Monday, Dec. 1 - a whole lot of howling, scowling and crying going on

EPISODE 48:
* Cande cries as MC swears that she will never tell JM about her baby and goes upstairs to the loft.

* Ceci and Pat continue to discuss what Padre told her about her baby girl and that Steffie and Isa are liars. Pat is really curious and asks who is their child?

* MC daydreams about holding her baby in her arms.

* In Fantasyland, Granny and Mayita discuss MC and her baby. Granny tells Mayita if MC says it's so, then it will be so. Mayita is impatient and wonders when? Granny tells her to be patient and wait. They hug.

* Cande and MC at the table in the apartment. A knock at the door. MC knows it's visitors and doesn't want to see anyone. Cande goes and answers it. Adrian enters. He asks to speak with MC. MC isn't really interested. He asks about her acting career. MC mumbles about no acting career anymore. He's surprised.

* JM and Ed are in JM's home office discussing Viv now residing at the sanitarium. JM says he talked with MC, about the divorce and whatever. He's pretty sure it's over for them.

* Ceci is desperate and feels super guilty over abandoning her daughter at the church orphanage. Pat demands that Ceci tell him who is their real daughter. Ceci finally blurts out MARICHUY! He's impactado.

* MC and Adrian continue talking. He is her friend and will support her. She thanks him for his friendship and patience. He leaves to meet Purita for dinner. Alone again, MC tells Cande that she needs to leave the city.

* Pat's impactado. Ceci cries about all the negative things he's said about Marichuy. She reminds him that she is their daughter, and then tells him that they have to make Steffie and Isa leave the house now.

* JM finishes with a phone call in the office. Mayita, holding Cuate in her arms, wanders up to the desk.

* MC is determined to carry out her decision. Cande rolls her eyes.

* JM and Mayita talk about MC's departure from the house. He says soon her mom will return. Mayita jumps and claps, then tells him about MC and the baby. JM is impactado.

* MC visits Padre at the church. She asks him for a huge favor.

* Pat and Ceci discuss MC, and Ceci's quilt over abandoning her as a baby. Ceci wonders if Pat will continue to reject MC as their daughter.

* MC talks with Padre about how she can't be with JM because Viv is still alive and in town.

* At the sanitarium courtyard, Ed sits with Viv on a bench. He asks her several questions - she just sits and stares into space.

* MC gets some chairs as she and Padre talk. They sit and then she tells him that she's pregnant with JM's baby.

* JM sits at the window thinking about Mayita's statement of MC and the baby. He shrugs it off as one of Mayita's fantasies.

* MC cries and explains her reasons to Padre about why she needs to leave town ASAP. She has to get away from JM. However, she cares for Cande and is worried about her. Padre mentions that there are others who care for her also - her parents.

* Isa and Steffie commiserate together in Steffie's room. Isa asks Steffie to wish her luck - Isa leaves. Steffie stays on the floor and cries.

* Isa walks upstairs. She and Martirio talk about what happened with Pat and Ceci. Isa walks away, as Martirio mumbles to herself.

* Pat and Ceci are still talking. Isa enters to interrupt. She says, pouting and acting guilty, that she will leave immediately.

* Padre talks with MC about finding her parents. MC wonders if they are still alive. Padre says, yes, they are very much so.

* Ceci doesn't believe that Isa is sincere. Pat gives the benefit of the judicial doubt and listens. Isa says Steffie is innocent, that she and the parents are to blame.

* Padre talks to MC about how her parents' have searched for her. MC doesn't believe it. Padre tells her about her mom's grave illness and why she left MC at the orphanage. MC has a lot of residual hurt, anger and resentment built up over the years and doesn't want to know anything about her parents. To her, her parents are dead.

* Isa explains how she got Steffie away from her parents and took her to New York to live. Then as the parents were so grave, she brought Steffie back. Afterwards, Isa came up with the idea to use Steffie in the scheme with Pat and Ceci.

* MC argues with Padre why she doesn't want anything to do with her parents; she doesn't want to even now their names. She asks Padre again to help her leave town; leave JM. She asks Padre to take care of Cande for her. MC says that she has to leave for the sake of her son.

* JM sits and hopes Viv does recover; he needs her to recover. He then daydreams about MC and hopes that she can find happiness with another man. JM says that he's lost MC; that it's over for them. The only woman for him now is Viviana.

* Adrian and Purita are laughing as they leave a restaurant and walk down the street. The gossiping neighbors come out in their curlers and spout off about Purita and that her mom's a slut. Purita and Adrian are impactado.

* Ceci doesn't believe any of the story Isa is spewing out. Pat, the judge, listens. Isa finishes her explanation, says believe it or not. Isa leaves the room. Ceci tells Pat that those two are con-artists and not to believe a word from either of them. Pat wants to talk with Steffie - he leaves the room.

* Pat enters Steffie's room. Steffie is still on the floor crying. He tells her he needs to talk. She gets up and cries about her shock over Isa's actions and schemes, and that she has no defense. She cries and he asks her to tell him everything. She tells him how Isa convinced her to leave her parents and go with her to live in New York; how Isa plotted and schemed. Steffie brings on the tears and begs forgiveness from Pat.

* Gossips finish spouting about Olga as a prostitute. Purita doesn't believe them. They tell her to ask Olga and leave. Purita is mortified and storms away. Adrian runs after her.

* Steffie cries about leaving the house. Pat wonders where she will go. She's not sure and asks for time to pack her things. Pat feels sorry for her, and asks for a moment to speak with Ceci first. He leaves the room.

* Purita storms into the apartment and confronts her mom - WHO ARE YOU??

* Pat comes to Ceci in the living room - he explains about Steffie guilt and her story. Ceci doesn't believe it and is still firm and unyielding. Steffie enters and cries and begs Ceci for forgiveness and compassion.

* Olga is shocked by the question. Purita starts in on all the gossip the neighbors had just told her about her activities in town (how she made a living). Olga cries. Purita demands the truth.

* Pat is silent. Steffie cries and tells her sad tale of woe to Ceci; that she had no idea of Isa's plan and says she will leave ASAP. Ceci stops her and says she can stay the night then leave in the morning. Steffie thanks her and leaves.

* In the hallway, Steffie tells Isa that they've won round one, and Ceci has let her stay in the house for the night.

* Isa enters the breakfast room and tells Pat and Ceci that she will leave now. Pat talks with her.

* Olga tells her daughter that the gossip is lies. Purita demands the truth. Olga finally breaks down and blurts out that yes, she is a prostitute. Purita is impactado.

* Cande sits at the table as MC brings down her suitcase and then puts the box with it. She's all packed and ready to leave.

* Pat and Ceci talk in private about MC. Pat still thinks MC is a street urchin and delinquent. Ceci says that she's our daughter! Pat still has high ideals about Steffie and blames MC for JM canceling his engagement with Steffie. Ceci reminds him again that MC is still their daughter, and has every right to their last name, love and support from both her and Pat.

* Cande and MC talk. A knock at the door. MC says more visitors. Cande doesn't move, so MC has to walk over to answer the door.

ADVANCE: Ceci visit MC at the apartment.

Thank you so much Eeyore! You sure are fast!

I was really enjoying the acting tonight. The actress playing Stef did a great job with her crying and having the shakes before Pat came in to talk to her, and then going into her fake crying for him. Also, the actress playing Ceci is a delight. The new padre is good, too.

I thought Matirio was really something – here she was Stef and Isa’s co-conspirator and now she’s mumbling to herself, with some satisfaction, that their days in the house are numbered.

I think what Stef said to Isa in the hallway after she’d talking to Pat and Ceci was “we’ve won the first round.” I thought it was pretty ill-advised to make that comment within earshot of the Velardes.

I, too, think you are fast, Eeyore! Great Recap. Thanks a lot.

The actress that plays Cecilia does a great job playing this character. The actress Helena Rojo is superb. The actor who plays the Judge Patricio is superb too. You get convinced that he is the way he is in the show, but I seem a different side to this actor. I watch the novela "Inocente de ti" where the actor of patricio is totally different. This novela is set in Miami, Florida for instance. The actor Richard Blume in this novela is more relax, kind, and friendly gentlemen. He smiles a lot more in the show. The actor Ricardo Blume does a superb acting job here too.

It looks like Marichuy is leaving the city with the help of the Padre and even though she asked the Padre to look after Cande, I have feel that Cande isn't going let Marichuy go alone. I think this is good that Marichuy is leaving the city to get away. At least, she will be away from that that drama.

Thanks for the super fast to the point recap Eeyore (have we talked about the origin of your "pen name" by the way? would love to know).

Anyway, here's my question: Was it my imagination or was the actress playing Marichuy talking SLOWER last night?

I wasn't straining to understand her or looking at the captions non-stop and I just wondered. Thought maybe it was supposed to signal that she was more womanly, as her buddy noted, and was maturing.

Anyway, good, well-acted episode and good recap...thanks Eeyore.

PS Others have ragged on Estefania because of her legs, but just because they're larger doesn't mean they're unattractive. They're quite shapely...and that's the real criterion for good legs in my opinion. We come in all different shapes and sizes after all.

Eeyore: Thanks for the quick recap.

I wonder why the writers have written in the Purita/mama plot. Where can you go with this? Any woman (Casilda) who wears curlers in her hair all the time shouldn't talk about anyone else.

In the conversation between Ceci and Patricio I thought he criticized Mari for stealing Stefi's fiance??

Anyway, the entire cast of this novela is great. The actress who plays Stefi is very believable - she sure can put out some spectacular tears. She was in Destilando Amor - I couldn't understand her in that production, but find I get almost everything she says in Cuidado.

As for Mari - she does have moments of clear speech - but mostly she still reverts to slang. So, I'm just getting a word here and there.

Anyone know what date Navidad sin Fin will air?

What does the word "impactado" mean? I see it all the time in recaps. Thanks.

you're all very welcome. I try to do my best with the recaps - I write as the episode is airing on Univision, and don't have any time the next day to re-watch and post.

pasofino - I glanced in the foro foro on telenovela-world, and Scott posted that NSF starts Dec. 8 (next monday).

JudyB - I've used various nicks on the blog in the past. my nick "eeyore" is because I like the character (plus eeyore's mate in the 100 acre woods is tigger, FC's favorite character).

Jody :)

Thanks Eeyore! I agree, the actress playing Estafania did a great job last night with her breakdown - I was tempted to believe her! I watch without captions so maybe I'm making this up, but didn't Adrian comment on Marichuy seeming more mature? I assumed that's the reason she was talking more slowly, we're moving into the phase of her being a responsible mother instead of a feisty girl.

And ugh, Patricio! He's so willing to be judicious and listen to the lying, scheming Isa and Stef, but even after finding out Marichuy is his daughter, he can't give her a break.

Violet608: Impactado (or impactada for a woman) means shocked or stunned.

JudyB, I realized about halfway through when listening to Marichuy that I wasn't reading the captions. She was definitely talking more slowly.

I hope that with Isa gone Pat and Ceci start to pick apart the story. They should ask Stef how old she is, for one thing.

Adrian told Marichuy that she looked different. For a second she looked like she was maybe afraid he could tell she is pregnant. Then he said she seems more mature.

Thank you for the great recap, Jody.

JudyB, I made the comment on Estefi's legs and I apologize. It was an attempt to critize her character (Estefi's not Ana Patricia's) which I should have not taken out on her physical appearance. She is a good actress and it's a credit to her acting that I hate the character she's playing so much. Again I apologize if I offended anyone with my tactless comment.

Great episode showcasing everyone's acting.

So, is that it, though? Will the lead actress fall for someone else besides the lead actor like the "Pasion" story? Kinda hard to believe but I'm not sure where else they (writers) can take the story of JM & Viv getting back together. And it will just be a matter of time before MC meets someone else now that she's moving out of town.
JT

Thanks for the definition of impactado. I will never forget it!

Does MC have a good relationship with Ceci? From reading some of the recaps I gather she lived with her for a bit. I know she does not like Patricio. I will have to start watching the first two months on You Tube, when I have time, yeah, right, someday..I missed so much of this show, but I love what I am watching now and regret missed episodes. So thankful for the recaps you ladies take the time to do.

Violet - it would probably be hard to find enough time to watch all the missed episodes, but you can probably fit in reading the recaps from the beginning. I've done that before when I came into one late, and it catches you up on all the important points.

You're right. I will never have the time, I wish I did, but don't, so I will read the recaps and be u to date. Does anyone know how many episodes there will be?

Eeyore: Terrific recap - thank you!

I haven't watched for a while and see that I've missed a lot! Glad to see the Isa/Stefi scheme exposed but sad that only Isa may leave. I'm with everyone who said that Stefi really seemed heartbroken last night - excellent acting as it was totally believable. Although Patricio is extremely unkind and unyielding at times, I couldn't fault him for totally accepting her explanation.

The 2 women who told Purita her mother was a prostitute were pathetic. What kind of joy could they derive from such a cruel action? Blech. Diana in MA

Violet,
If you do get the time, it is worthwhile going back through the recaps. Here is one from long ago that made a big impression on me.

Thank you Agnes. I need all the help I can get. Do not understand Spanish, just starting to learn it.

Oh my goodness JTorres 0114...please know you didn't offend me. It's just that I teach fitness classes and have people of all sizes and shapes and I know how hard they work....and they DO get fit and strong and flexible BUT they still look the way the Good Lord (or Mother Nature, take your pick) made them...so my heart feels pinched a little when someone's physique seems to be criticized.

And actually, to be honest, while Estefania's legs don't bother me I hate her mouth! the way it turns down. It's just in this telenovela, she hasn't looked that way in others.

So you see...I do exactly the same thing. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Violet 608,

Congratulations on starting to study Spanish. Watching telenovelas and listening to Spanish radio will help you with understanding spoken Spanish. I started watching telenovelas just over a year ago (having studied Spanish in school before) and find that seeing the context in which the language is spoken helps to understand. I still watch with a dictionary close at hand and don't use the Spanish subtitles. It works. I just returned from a 5 day trip to Mexico and was able to conduct myself reasonably well in conversations with my hosts.

My blog

http://riberajoe.blogspot.com/

has a report on that trip.

Hang in there and read the recaps to reinforce your understanding.

congratulations on being able to speak Spanish on your trip to Mexico. That is wonderful. I was proud of myself when I was in New York City last weekend and told the desk clerk in Spanish that I had a reservation for two nights. LOL. He said I did well speaking that one sentence! (I know him from staying at this particular hotel a lot) I will keep at it as I am really enjoying learning. Thank you all for your encouragement.
