Cuidado con el Angel - Monday, Dec. 22 - JM and Viv have an explosive argument; Omar serenades Chuy

EPISODE 63:
* Chuy and Padre are in the stables finishing their discussion. Omar interrupts. Chuy uses her new grammar lesson to properly excuse herself and leaves. Omar asks Padre who is really the father of Chuy's baby?

* Viv doesn't take JM's divorce request well. She's hostile and refuses - He leaves frustrated - she grumbles to herself.

* Next day - Viv goes to talk with JM in the study. He still wants the divorce. She still hasn't change her mind and refuses to give him anything of the kind. He wants the marriage to end so Mayita will live in peace. Viv won't divorce him, she thinks he will just run off to be with some one else - who, the french maiden? - no, she says with Marichuy!

* Omar talks with Chuy about offering her protection, a home and a father for her baby. She's impactado.

* Viv argues about her jealous suspicions regarding JM's love for MC. Rocio interrupts and stops the fight from escalating. Viv tells Rocio about JM's divorce request.

* Omar and Chuy continue to discuss his very caring offer. She has her doubts.

* Viv and Rocio argue - Rocio leaves with JM.

* In the hallway, JM stops and argues with Nellie about his need for a divorce from Viviana. He orders her to talk some sense into Viviana and grant the divorce.

* In the kitchen, Vince talks with Rocio.

* Omar continues to talk with Chuy.

* Nellie and Viv are in the hallway by the stairs - they argue about JM's wanting a divorce. Viv is adamantly opposed and stops talking about it. Nellie follows her upstairs.

* Rocio and Vince continue their conversation - they talk about the promises they made to each other at the hospital. She tries to encourage him to try everything possible to walk again.

* In the room, Nellie tries to convince her daughter to get the divorce from JM. Viv is adamant about not doing so, especially because of Marichuy - and that MC is carrying JM's son. Nellie is impactado.

* Rocio kisses Vince and tells him that she will always be by his side.

* Padre meets with Chuy - they discuss telling JM the truth about her baby or let Omar be there as the father. MC refuses on both accounts - she will be mother and father to HER son. Padre argues from the church's perspective. She thinks about it to herself.

* In the study, JM and Ed meet and discuss Viv's adamant refusal for a divorce. JM is almost certain that she's faking her amnesia and discusses with Ed how to set her up to prove it.

* In the bedroom, MC and Cande discuss Padre's conversation with her as well as Omar's proposal to be with her and be father to her baby. MC also wonders about Amador and if she can return to acting in order to support her baby.

* Amador finds Nelson getting drunk at an outdoor patio. Nelson is distraught and tells his BFF that Elsa has left him.

* Nellie enters the bedroom to see Viv. Viv sends Balbina away. Nellie gives her daughter a message - Viv is still adamant against the divorce and leaves. Nellie is frustrated.

* In the study, Viv enters and starts to talk to JM about her refusal to grant the divorce. JM has her sit down in the chair and starts to swing the pocket watch back and forth (to hypnotize her).

* Amador laughs - Nelson cries and begs and grovels for his BFF to give him money and help him get Elsa back. Amador tells him to get serious; Nelson continues to beg for money and more alcohol. Amador refuses to give Nelson money or drinks.

* JM uses hypnosis to get Viv to relax and let her mind open up, calm down and agree to answer his questions. It starts to work - her eyelids flutter shut. JM flips his hourglass over as Viv sleeps. He tells her twice to open her eyes. She opens them. He asks her for the date. She says it's the day of the plane accident.

* As a harmonica plays a lullaby, MC wakes and starts to walk towards the window in her room. She smiles.

* Viv tells JM that she remembers being in the plane with him as it starts to crash land. She remembers screaming - she starts to scream and thrash her head back and forth and grasp the chair arms and seat cushion hard. JM has her continue to tell him the details of her memory about the accident. He's impactado as she remembers sees him floating on the sea.

* MC looks out the window at Omar playing his harmonica and sitting by a tree below her window.

* JM tells Viv to continue with her memories. She says she remembers being alone on the beach and thinking about her, him and their lives together.

* Omar continues to serenade MC and looks up at MC at the window - she wonders if Omar is really in love with her.

* Viv remembers and cries about how lousy and horrible she felt being married to him lately. JM asks more questions - Viv grimaces.

* Omar finishes his serenade and shouts up to MC. MC goes back to bed - she thought bubbles about Omar being in love with her or not.

* Viv tells JM she remembers having her documents and jewels in her case in her arms and walking along the beach. JM is really upset listening to her talk about celebrating her freedom - her new life completely away from him - JM becomes angry to discover that she planned the whole thing, the amnesia and the accident just to be free from him.

* In the bedroom, Cande and MC discuss whether Omar is in love with MC. Cande thinks it's true.

* Viv tells JM that she took complete advantage of the accident to escape her dull, boring life and routine as his wife, especially since no one found a body and that no one went looking for her. She went travelling to far away places and had fun. JM grumbles, "why did you return?" Viv says she returned because her money ran out and the credit cards were all cancelled, plus she wanted her marriage, life, house, family back. JM is furious.

* Cande and MC discuss MC's dream about JM. Cande reminds her that JM's wife Viv has returned.

* Viv laughs at JM's reaction to her amnesia and her scheming. JM grabs and shakes her really hard. Viv turns scared as JM continues to attack her for being a conniving liar and manipulator.

* Cande talks with MC about JM and reminds her that life with JM will never be the same again. MC cries. Cande advises MC to think about herself and her baby and move on.

* JM continues to attack Viv. Viv cries and curls up into a ball in her chair - acting scared to death.

* Rocio is consoling Blanca in her room - Blanca is scared about Viviana (I think). They hear Viv's loud screams and run out of the room.

* In the study, JM is on top of Viv on the sofa, slapping and shaking her as Viv screams for help. Rocio, Blanca, Balbina and Nellie all enter the study. Viv breaks away from JM's grasp and runs to her mommy. Nellie hugs her daughter and tells the staff to leave - this is a family matter.

* Cande and MC go to sleep. MC lays awake with thought bubbles of - no, not sugarplums - more like Omar, JM and Cande dancing in her head. She wonders what to do next?

* Viv cries to mommy about JM abusing her and wanting to kill her. JM argues that he doesn't want her dead; because of Mayita. Rocio supports her brother; Nellie tries to support her daughter. Viv yells about JM and the divorce and wanting to kill her. Rocio tries to push JM backwards as JM yells about Viv being a liar and a manipulator and admitting the truth to him.

* Elsa is in bed reading a book. She answers the phone. Nelson, on a pay phone, takes a few extra minutes before responding.

* Nellie stands as buffer for her daughter - JM yells at Nellie that everything he is saying is the truth - Viv cries that he's lying. Rocio snaps and tells Viv that she's a rotten example of a mother. Viv snaps back about being mentally ill. JM yells at her about faking it. Viv runs from the room; JM follows her. Rocio stops Nellie, telling her to let them handle this alone.

* In the hallway, Viv yells at JM.

* Nelson begs and pleads for Elsa to return to him. As he begs and whines, Elsa remembers talking with her mom. Elsa hangs up on Nelson. Nelson is impactado.

* Viv and JM continue their shouting match. He yells at her about faking the amnesia and her death. Viv is frustrated and runs upstairs. Nellie comes out to the hallway to try and support her daughter. JM yells at Nellie that Viv is a liar, a manipulator and he will do everything he can to throw her and Nellie out of the castle (and into jail). (UY!)

ADVANCE: JM's still adamant about divorcing permanently from Viv. MC goes into serious labor contractions again (could this be the moment she gives birth?)

Thanks so much for the recap eeyore. This was quite an episode. JM's disgust with Vivian is actually helping him grow a spine (yeah)! We know he's now adamant about getting a divorce but imagine how much more so if he knew about Mari and the baby?

The love triangle continues...Leo is a nice man but I want Mari with JM. I guess JM will have to cure Bianca/Yvette and her real personality will be the type of women for Leo.

Eeyore: Thanks for the speedy recap.

Finally, JuanMi has a fit. Timewise, the plan crash took place two years ago - and Vivi apparently stayed hidden for quite a while. She returned to regain her place in society, money, house and husband she can't stand. So, now he's going to investigate her whereabout while she was hiding out. It's about time - he should have done that when there were recurring charges to her accounts.

Onelia warned Vivi that JuanMi could become a formidable enemy. JuanMi told Vivi that she was crazy, and he is probably right. She is a very dangerous character who acts purely out of self interest and feelings of revenge. Yuck!

Eeyore, great recap of a very eventful episode.

I'm sure JM's path to marital freedom will be strewn with many obstacles. Viv is ruthless and won't hesitate to do whatever is necessary to thwart the divorce.

Leo's serenade really seemed to be lulling Mari into blissful contentment. Mari is really blooming in the idyllic country setting.

I think I enjoyed last night so much because it we didn't see Steffi.

Thanks for the recap, Eeyore. I like your title. You always do a good job.

I, too, enjoyed this episode, Diana. I enjoyed because Juan Miguel finally knows the truth about Vivana. Also, . . ."we didn't see Steffi. too."

I think Vivana's days as Juan Miguel's wife are numbered. Rocio is right Vivana is a no good mom. Life would be better without her for Juan Miguel and Mayita.

I enjoyed El. Leopard playing his harmonica and serenading Marichuy. We knew that he would fall in love with Marichuy. I like them together, too. But I also like Juan Miguel to grow more and he is met to be with Marichuy even though at the moment it looks like Marichuy is getting comfortable with Omar and the country life.

I look forward to the episode ahead and Marichuy giving birth to a boy or girl.

Genevieve

Great recap on a busy episode, Jody.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the lack of spark between MC and El L? I know we're suppose to think/believe that they can actually fall in love but I'm having a hard time imagining them together. I'd like to see MC with El L only because she seems to be thriving. But her chemistry with El L is not as good as her chemistry with JM. When she and JM are together on the screen, they smolder together. Even when she just gives JM one of her "friendly" hugs, she makes it look like she can stay in his arms forever and be content. When she greets or hugs El L, it's similar to how she used to greet Adrian - just plain friendly, no spark. Maybe it's time the writers let El L get his "beso" from MC.

Yes, finally, a nice kick-ass spine for JM. He not only portrays "sad/tormented" good, he also portrays "angry" pretty good. I really thought he was going to punch the lights out of Viv. It's about time she got what's coming to her.

Genevieve: I'm looking forward to the birth too. Let's just skip the abduction.

Mari will make a wonderful mother. I know she will probabaly end up with JM, but she's had a tranquil pregnancy and hopefully her child will have a serene start thanks to Leo.

JT, interesting comment. You're right - JM and Mari have exceptional chemistry. I think Mari and Leo have a different albeit less "explosive" chemistry. It seems to be based on kindness and friendship although I do think it could escalate to a higher level. In the end though, to be fair, who (if anyone) can compete with William Levy? :)

Diana in MA

Thank you eeyore for distilling this galloping episode, though I must say I was disgusted with some of our leading characters.

JM was beyond unethical hypnotizing Viv. Plus that scene was incredibly hokey – him with the watch, her falling under its spell, even though she was very wound up when she came in to talk to him. Also, I’m pretty sure when people are hypnotized they remember everything afterwards. After some of her story, JM gets violent. Why was he trying to grab her arms? And he looked like he was about to slug her. Since he has had a past history of using force on Mari, this guy is looking like a very bad bet. Perhaps a better actor could have done rage without having to resort to the physical to get the point across.

Of course in the past weeks JM has been stepping out with the floozy Ivette and, even though nothing has happened, just going out with another woman is hardly innocent.

And here comes Rocio in her tight short shorts and high heels, looking like a street walker, and she goes in and watches the fight and then gets involved in the yelling. Seems like she thinks she has the right to butt into a fight between husband and wife.

Then Rocio lies to Vicente about being out with another fellow and then tries to persuade him that she loves only him.

Jtorres – I think the chemistry isn’t working between Mari and El L. because it’s just one-way. He’s doing a good job portraying yearning, but she doesn’t love him back.

Diana, yes, who indeed can compete with William?

Maggie, I guess that's why I'm hooked to this soap. The galan is so imperfect. He's not like any of the other perfect leading men that probably does not really exist. JM is vulnerable, he shows weakness, he is unethical, he gets violent (poor furnitures), his daughter has got him wrapped around her fingers, he spoils his sister, he hides his tail around Onelia & Viv, he is almost too kind to the point of stupidity, he looses control, he has bad hair days, his face shows the stress he is under, he has bags under his eyes, in other words, he is relatable. Guys like him really exist. Well, probably not as gorgeous. =)
JT

I really enjoyed Juan Miguel's dramatic explosion with Viviana. He's been relatively restrained with her until now, given their history and her recent provocations.

I see his character as basically moral--he's kind and generous, perhaps overly so with Estefanía. I've never thought him a dunce, however it makes NO sense for the writers not to have him hire a detective to track down Maria de Jesus.

I agree with other commenters about the nature of Marichuy's chemistry with Omar the Leopard. They could be close, life-long friends, and he has been so gentle and attentive, but her true, mad, deep love is reserved for Dr. San Roman.

To me when a man will use force, no other virtues make up for that. So far, JM used force on Mari in the forest, though we aren’t sure what really happened, he restrained her against her will outside Stef’s coming out party, and now he’s using violent force on Viv.

Also, to me a man is not moral if he steps out with another woman every night, and then tells his wife that she’s unladylike when she makes a scene and that see? That’s why he doesn’t like to be married to her. Yeah we do know that Viv is a bad girl, but JM isn’t shining here either…

Precisely my point. This soap is very unconventional. They went with a sometimes unlikeable leading man - because he uses force and will most likely cheat given the chance (maybe). They also went with a leading lady that is unreformed and almost illiterate. The writers keep us tuned in because we all wonder how these folks will able be able to redeem themselves with their unredeeming qualities.

This soap is different and refreshing. I thought I read somewhere that it is a re-make. Is the original exactly the same?
JT

I really appreciate the recaps. This is only my 3rd novela and I am not a native speaker, so othewise, I would miss a lot.

I have to say I agree with Maggie and Patricio. JM is not exactly a man of honor. He has a propensity toward violence agains women who cant defend themselves against his strength. He is runniing out every night to be with a rather trampish barfly, and on top of that, whatever medical school gave him a degree should demand it back. He is a poor excuse for a pyschiatrist. He is the only person on the show who has not figured out a single conniving scheme that is going on all around him. His own daughter has told him several times that MC is going to bring her a baby brother, but he chooses to believe that his daughter is just emotionally unbalanced. I also question his credentials as a father. He hires a women to move into his house to care for her, without ever making a single phone call to check this woman out. Then, simply because the woman curls her hair and takes off her glasses, he does not recognize her. That is what I call vigilant parenting.

If he is so interested in finding MC, why has it not occurred to him to try to track her thru PA?

JM is certainly eye candy, but he is dumb as a bag of river rocks.

MC would do better to make a life with Leo, who seems to be a caring person who would do right by her and the baby, without beating her up.

And, someone tell me please, why do these people continue to let Mu-Steffa march into their living rooms and act like she owns the place. She has been outted as a non-blue blood, so why has she not been banished to the 4 walls of the barrio apartment with her unscupulous tia. I guess it just makes for good drama

I completely agree with JTorres I just don't see any chemistry with MC and Leo it's so forced and awkward. MC is so young and childish (though not naive)even the way she dresses with capris and t-shirts are reminiscent of middle school lol

and I couldn't agree more with Marti's comments on JM lol how does the psychoanalyst not have a clue on anything going on around him until someone actually spells it out to him? i still hope he ends up with Chuy

Of course he will end up with MC. Having only seen two of these telenovelas previously, I already know how this works. They get together at the beginning, then for 6 months of episodes in between, cirumstances keep them apart, then at the last episode, they get together for their happily ever after.

Don't want to spoil it for anyone who doesn't want to know, but if you go to the official website for the show, there are photos of things to come.

Also, because I did not come in at the beginning of this show, can someone explain to me why when CeCe was sick and thought she was going to die, Patricio did not take care of MC. Pat appears to be pretty close to 70, if not over, which means that 22 years ago when MC was a baby, he was not some young teenager with no means for caring for a baby. He would have already have been out of law school and practicing for at least 20-30 years, and maybe already a judge. So, why did he not bring her home for the servants to take care of in his home. He appears to me to be the most culpable for having abandoned her, so, he has a lot of nerve to be angry that she is uncultured and uneducated, there for, not befitting a daughter of his. I love that the priest told him that until he looks for MC with love, he will not be told where she is (at least I think that is what PA) told him.

Merry Christmas to all.

Marti

To Marti: ur right they most likely will end up together i just hope this isn't one of those novelas where they're gonna try to surprise the audience with an MC/Leo ending, but that probably won't happen :)

and the reason why Cece had to give up MC when she was sick was because her and Patricio were not together at the time because they had been broken up by Patricio's family who didn't like Cece. In fact Patricio never knew he had a daughter until recently (right before Steffi and Isa entered the picture). but it's still wrong how he loathes MC even now when he knows that she's his daughter.

and wow even though they started this novela in Mexico 2 months ahead of the US they've gotten so ahead with the episodes that it makes it feel like we're way behind especially with the story dragging on with mere flickers of excitement (i.e. JM finally figuring out about Viv). i'm bored with the show and on the brink of forwarding through future episodes on yt although i'll restrain myself, just barely, because i love love love these recaps!

Thanks JM Lover. That info about CeCe and Patricio explains a lot that I just could not understand.

Happy Holidays to all!

wow pasofino i had no idea it was 2 years that passed I thought it would be maybe around a year with MC's pregnancy and the little time her and JM spent before that.

it's interesting to see that even Onelia can't believe what Viv did and couldn't even defend her against JM. i guess that's supposed to show how horrible Viv's character really is.

and also i'm not really up to speed on the episode numbers since I haven't been able to tune in but they didn't air Cuidado only on the 24th and 25th right?

anonymous --

with the Christmas holidays and no episodes Wednesday and Thursday nights, that means Friday's episode should be number 65.

Jody :)

I have to second what Maggie said oh so long ago. These recent developments have some characters acting out for sure.

I'm really disliking the characterization of JM these couple of episodes. I'm all for a realistic, imperfect hero, but something about his character development (or the writing?) seems really inconsistent. The incident with Marichuy was being framed as a one-time slip-up, but at this point they are portraying it as if these violent outbursts are part of his character. A believable flaw, but it seems inconsistent with the kind of guy they were developing over earlier episodes. Besides, why would I root for Marichuy to be with a guy who might go off on her like that? I guess they want me to believe that he won't be that way *with her* O.o

Not much else I can say that wasn't already said, but the physical force with Viv, the hypocrisy in his seeing Ivette and yet blaming Viv for their marital problems, the creepiness of hypnotizing somebody against their will, and the suddenly wanting a divorce when they'd shown him as supposedly wanting to work it out -- the character development isn't jiving for me here, and none of this sounds like the guy I want Marichuy to end up with. Is it anybody's game with Leopardo around? I'm guessing JM gets the girl, but I hope they clean him up a bit before that happens.
