Fuego, #166 -Tues. 12/30/08 - But Get Me To The Church On Time -vs- Who's Your Daddy and Mommy

The mean people in Fuego have an eve of New Year's Eve marathon going on to see who can out bedevil whom. Let's check the score. If we could raise funds to feed orphans and other unfortunates on the number of devious deeds this group is committing we could make a fortune and wipe out misfortune in a good sized pueblo:

Feo locks Abuelo in the elevator and nearly hangs him by his tie sliding the elevator down just enough that Agustín can't get loose.
Ricardo tells his evil spawn Root that she seems more like Gabriela than wiggy Raquel.
Santi is bride left waiting at the church with only Sofia the slow to help reason out what to do.
Abuelo asks Feo what kind of Rosario nightmares he is having.
Ruth tries to talk to Feo but he's not interested. He'd rather do something unbelievably mean.

As they replay the elevator hanging, we hear growls from Feo, How do you feel now?? Coward, coward, counters the choking Abuelo Agustín.

Sweet as can be Feo tells Fatima to go directly to the church, taking the cup of tea she was carrying and shoos her off before she can see Abuelo stuck by his tie.

He casually inquires about what Gabi is doing in the office when she could go off and relax with him. He doesn't relent until she agrees to go out of the house with him also bypassing. But, Gabi sees Rosendo waiting for Abuelo and Feo begins shoving her in the SUV. But wait, Raquel approaches and distracts Gabi with the demand to hear her out. Feo tries again to get Gabi to ignore her, they don't have time. Oh, he hopes that no one will discover Don Agustín. Speaking of him the old gentleman is nearly losing consciousness as he struggles to hang on the tie.

Raquel begins to tease Gabi with her news that she has been waiting to tell her so many years.

At the church Santi notes that something must be really wrong, Agustín is always so punctual. Maybe he regrets his decision to marry her? Sofia says Abuelo is incapable of being foolish and he truly loves her, there is nothing to worry about. But we see the blurry world through Abuelo's eyes so we know that he is losing ground with choking .

Well, Sofia is not your daughter. She tells Gabi how she entered her bedroom the day she came to take Ruth who Gabi had sold to her, and saw her innocent newborn in the bed and she decided to switch them to get back at her for all the humiliations she had suffered. Gabi says you are lying, this can't be true. No, Raquel is happy to tell her that she left her with the pitiful daughter of Eva. She has been raising Eve's daughter and Raquel took her daughter just to spite Gabi even though she kept it to herself all these years. But, to Raquel's surprise, Gabi says this is the best news in my whole life. Ruth is my daughter! Not missing a beat and to burst Raquel's momentary bubble of happiness in outdoing Gabi, Gabi reveals, the truth is that Ruth is not old Bernie Elizondos' daughter. With great glee she puts together the disparate facts: Ruth is my daughter and the daughter of Ricardo Uribe!! My but she is pleased with herself.
**************
Santi is sure something bad has happened, Agustín wouldn't be late for his own wedding. Everyone fidgets and tries to assure her.

Feo watches Rosendo and waits. Ruth watches from her room and replays Agustín's warning to Ruth to beware of Feo in her head. She decides she has to rescue Agustín and finally rushes to the elevator to untie Agustín just before he passes out. She roils him out toward her room looking around furtively instead of taking him down stairs.

Raquel is suddenly crushed by the full meaning of this news. This can't be true she whines, does Ricardo know you had his baby? Of course not but if I knew that Ruth was mine and his he would never have gone from my side. Almost taking to herself, Gabi suddenly realizes why she hates Snofia, Snofia is just like the stupid Eva and her stupid father and not like her at all.

As Ruth is rather gently cleaning up the uniform and combing Agustín's hair. You have won a thousand battles this isn't going to defeat you it's just an inconvenience. he says don't ruin my medals that Porfirio Diaz gave me, but then he thanks her, you saved me. I won't ever forget your kindness, I owe you my life. She says no one else has ever been so kind to me and sympathetic with me until I met you.

Gabi carries on with he theme of how much she has always felt for Ruth and now she realizes what in her always rejected Sofia because she is the stupid spawn of the stupid Eva. Soon her tune turns to: Its all going to be mine, all mine, the hacienda, everything is mine.

Sofia appears and says she has heard that thanks to Ruth, Abuelo was saved. Ruth assures her she did it for him no one else.

Feo curses as Rosendo's SUV pulls away with Sofia and Agustín safely inside.

Ruth feels proud that she just helped Augustin (her real grandfather we suddenly realize).

Ricardo is on his horse swearing he must continue searching for the little chest with the most important documents and swears he will rip it out from where ever it is hidden. (Eeeek, Pablito run, run)
As the scene fades of Ricardo riding across the field on his horse thinking about the chest, we see Coyote drawing a bead on the back of Ricardo's neck through the cross-hairs of his rifle scope. (Eeeek, Coyote aim, aim)
*****************
The shot is fired and Ricardo's hat flies off. But the hidden Coyote says this was only a warning and drives off in his pickup. Ricardo looks startled and angry, (well, he always looks angry.)

After revealing to Ruth that she has loved Ricardo Uribe forever and Ruth is all interested in hearing more. Gabriela tells Ruth with more tenderness than she seems capable of, we need to have a big talk, ALONE, she says in front of Raquel. They go off. Raquel says this is complicating things too much, but doesn't seem to have the brain power to think just how. However, she does have enough sense to add that she needs to get out of here and soon!

At the church, Agustín makes light of his difficult situation that made him late, but not to worry he will fill her in later.
Franco sings "Ave Maria" this time with the church organ accompanying so he stays pretty much on key. (I loved this moment actually so I could catch up describing the hot stuff going on at the hacienda.) Now we see everyone get on knees that can get on their knees.

Juan comes into Oscar's room with a meal on a tray. Of course, Oscar wants Jimena. She's gone off to her grandfather's wedding to Santi. Juan tries to cheer him up by reminding him of how he almost shot grandpa and ended catching him as he fell from his chair down the stairs. (I didn't go back and sort this silly little memory lane scene out so someone can be more accurate if they care). Oscar says it's too bad we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Agustín. Juan reminds him that Franco represented them.

The holy water gets sprinkled on the coins and the rings. Don Agustín Oceveda. Santa Margarita Roberta Federika Lorenzo ....and Widow of and Padre names about ten or twelve dead husbands. Augustin interrupts the listing to declare, I accept! Everyone gets a giggle as he promises to be the soldier who stays in the battle and Santi assures all that the others died in the field of love with honor. The lovely ties (lazos) of roses are laced around the couple by Sarita and Sofia . The Padre pronounces them married and everyone yells Vivan los novios. The couple are congratulated by the crowd outside and wished much happiness.

Rosendo wants to take them back to the hacienda to get their luggage for the trip but Agustín says he has some business in town to take care of, so he will wait for them there. Santi throws her flowers and Sarita catches the roses and then catches a big romantic kiss from Franco. We get a hold that thought freeze frame like a snap shot of the beautiful couple.
*************

Agustín shows up at the bakery. Juan tries to hug him with floured hands to congratulate him on the marriage, and they speak of their friendship and fun, with some arguments and disagreements in point of view but Agustín is grateful for how they have loved his granddaughters and he will never forget the Reyes brothers. He rolls off to talk to the recalcitrant Oscar both seated. Horses neigh to remind us of the stubborn Oscar.

Meanwhile Santi is in the girls' artisan stuff store and says she hopes they don't seem sad for her and Agustín. NO, they are happy for them but sad for themselves.Abuelo has been their pillar, their protector, their accomplice even their cupid and after the death of their father he has been both father and grandfather. Santi assures them that they are not losing a grandfather but gaining a grandmother who will love and defend them always. Santi is gracious, they will go off to make up for lost time, but she assures them they will stay in touch and when they are settled, the girls could come see them. (What a concept , they might escape Mexidoon for a little R&R.)

Agustín says men are strengthened by their trials and tribulations. He knows that Oscar can go on. Don't fool yourself you should recognize that JImena loves you truly and you should love her back. Don't be defeated. This old general wants you to remember that we never loose a battle you must carry on no matter what. Now young general, never forget your mission. Oscar has been trumped on his infirmity by the courageous Agustín and reluctantly smiles and promises not to forget.
****************
Feo tries to engage Gabriela with slimy cuddles and soothing assurances of aren't the team to be reckoned with. She has work to do in the office. Feo rushes up the stairs to grab Ruth's arm and tell her she needs to discover who is the heir of Gabi's fortune. She gives him a wet kiss and tromps down the stairs to Gabi's office. Gabi fixes her usual large brandy snifter and assures Ruth she has important information to impart. Ruth for a change is all ears.

Agustín takes leave of Juan in the bakery, while at the store, Eva shows up to see Santi with the Elizondo sisters and they all laugh about the successful wedding.

Oscar says to Juan and Franco that he hasn't been fair with this brothers. I promise that is in the past and I am going to try to be better. I need your patience and help. (Whew, we were all being worn thin having to accept Oscar as a whiner) when Tio Vincente sweeps in with the doctor who is the specialist he promised, Oscar looks on bemused.

Gabi doesn't reveal all about Ruth's true family, but rather assures Ruth she is more important to her. If Ricardo and she had married as they should , they would have been happy and She is to be her sole heir.

Next episode which will be Friday night: Feo thinks he has it made in the shade when he learns that Ruth will inherit. Ruth looks like she just won the lottery. Gabi will reveal all. Lastly we get a glimpse of Coyote in his usual courtly pose holding the hand of a lovely, frail blind lady whom he addresses as MOTHER.....

Great recap Cheryl.
One thing i keep forgetting to say is the thing about Franco singing Ave Maria in his seat. You would think that singers would go up to the fron to sing for everyone instead of being like a schoolboy who is reciting his lessons. Lol.

I knew Ruth would save the day. I knew it! She redeemed herself. I'm liking this more now. A lot of action and less crying. This just gets better.

Okay guys carry on.

Ibarramedia

Wow...I must say Fuego is making up for earlier stagnation. All kinds of things are happening (or better yet, being foiled) and truth is coming out. A looooong wait.

"Slimy cuddles". My favorite quote, Cheryl. But hope I never have occasion to use it!

Great recap Cheryl. Ok, who else besides me was wishing Coyote had aimed just about 2 inches lower?! :) And who is the mysterious "mother?" Possibly related to the Reyes in some fashion? Hmmmm......

You'd think Rosendo would go in the house looking for Abuelo instead of pacing in the driveway. What an episode. But at least there was no crying.

Cheryl: Wonderful recap. Thank you.

Coyote also thought-bubbled that he had both Ricardo and Gabi on his hit list.

Yes, Ruth earned a little sympathy and support in this episode, but, I still don't trust her. She still hates Sofi so she's another wreck looking for an opportunity to happen.

Happy New Year.

I apologize to all Franco fans out there but would somebody please get Franco to stop singing Ave Maria!

Bravo Ruth! She came through when it counted. The scene between Ruth and Abuelo was very touching. I also thought the wedding was wonderful. As bridesmaid dresses go, those worn by the Elizondo, were rather attractive. I liked the stairstep maxi, midi, mini hems. Good to see Ximena heeding Oscar's admonition to dress more demurely. I almost fell off my chair LingOL as the padre listed Santa's deceased husbands. I'm afraid however that Abuelo may be toast because of the prolonged tribute segment. I hope that he dies honorably. I'm really going to miss him. All in all a very enjoyable episode. Weell done recap Cheryl. Carlos

Thanks sports fans for the support. The sport this week seems to be a race to the most unusual way to kill off some other character. I hated the elevator scene but it was Feo Fernando distilled to perfection. His character is getting crazier by the episode so any punishing pie carts will be welcome.

I also like that they gave Ruth a bit of dimension to her character by letting her be kind for once.

I am wondering if Coyote's Mama was working at the Robles-Reyes Hacienda and was somehow damaged in the massacre or perhaps was in another hacienda tramatised by Ricardo Uribe. Then that begs the question, what did Gabriela have to do with it to cause Coyote to be biding his time until he can even the score with her too. hmmmm.

I also meant to mention that the relatonship between Ricardo and Abuelo is like that of Sylvester and Tweety Bird. Abuelo always escapes or is rescued from the evil Ricardo. Carlos

Finally we are getting some action and can look forward to watching this - it's about time.
Blood IS thicker than water as evidenced by Ruth saving Abuelo last night. Can we expect that Ruth is evil due to her evil Daddy's upbringing and can we expect that she is able to cross to the other side? And if she does, who can she end up with??? Just wondering.

Fuego in AZ

Anonymous, I was afraid too seeing the Abuelo tribute segment. But, I hoped he might be written out of rest of the series...why I don't know, but stranger things have happened in FELS. I hope he doesn't get killed.

...which brings me to another point. Feo has bungled several murder attempts already, why didn't he just push the down button and drop Abuelo once and for all?

Great recap of an episode with drama, revelations and several character changes for the better (Ruth and Oscar).

Ruth seems to be right in the middle of the battle between good and evil. She helped Don Agustin, and she's certainly wary of Feo at this point, but as others have pointed out, she still hates Sofia. Also, she loves her Daddy, so if there were a confrontation between Ricardo and one of the good characters, what would she do?

Raquel's big revelation backfired, but she may still have some ammunition she doesn't know about, such as the fact that she controls the money. Maybe if the good guys discover the false bottom of Pablito's box first, they could enlist Raquel in some way to foil Ricardo. Of course, we don't even know what's in the papers, but I'm sure it would be better if the
Reyes' found them first.

I think there was also a short scene (I could have been dreaming) where Sofia says to Juan, now that Abuelo's leaving, you're going to have to protect us. I was wondering how he's going to know when something goes wrong, but I guess he'll just "feel it" in his gut, and come riding in on Capricho.

Thanks for the recap, Cheryl. That episode was much better than average, lots of action and drama.
Connie, I'm with you on the Franco/Ave Maria ban. Nice to see the sisters in some non-leather outfits. I'm dying to see more of Coyote and his mother.
La Paloma

Thanks, Cheryl. Abuelo just escapes death, gets hitched and goes on his honeymoon, all the while leaving his loved ones in the house with a person he knows is a serial killer. Makes sense in Mexiloon, I guess. At least things are speeding up. Coyote is becoming my favorite character...he could teach grooming techniques to the hermanos Reyes. GinCA

It seems the revelation of Ruth's blood ties to both Gabriela and Ricardo give an interesting twist to nature -vs- nuture debates. She has bad blood from both sides but was raised by one ineffective neutral and a loving to her but evil father. I was cheered to see any good in her regarding her rescue of Augustin.

Carlos, did you mean Fernando is menacing Abuelo rather than Ricardo? Ricardo will probably be a danger to him at sometime but I don't think he has as yet and being Gabriela's father may protect Abuelo from her former lover. Now I also question the threats that Gabi and Ricardo made to each other and how they will throw off Feo who is likely to react badly if he can't manipulate Gabi any longer as she gains strength from her happiness at getting a better deal (Ruth) for a daughter and sharing her proud parentage with Ricardo. The plot is twisted up in some hard to reconcile mismatches but it doesn't seem to bother the writers to be inconsistent so far.

Connie, I wish Franco would get a new song and sing it on key with his guitar or the organ helping him too. I like his voice but they need new material for him to show his talent.

Hombre, I agree it will be interesting to see which team Ruth goes with in the end, villains seem a stronger pull and Abuelo is leaving town but still she does seem to have a few good instincts. I suppose it depends on whether she continues to be the lover of her real mother. Actually that made me start to count up all the passion (some violent) scenes with Feo. I sure hope he is using protection!! That isn't featured much as a public service, but sheesh, he is endangering a whole pueblo with his wanton ways.

More on Franco's singing. I think he should only sing in a group.

I think the previews showed Ruth celebrating with Feo that she is going to be the heir, but she doesn't seem to have realized that Feo's plan to get rid of Gabi so he can get the money puts her in his crosshairs next. She's going to be the target of one of her evil collaborators, so there is going to be some reckoning for her to do. Maybe she and her Daddy will become Feo's undoing, even as Feo thinks having Ricardo around will help him undo the Reyes. Actually, with so much bad blood between the Uribes and Escandons and Elizondos and Coyote's family, I'm surprised anyone even cares about the Reyes anymore.

I think he shouldn't sing at all! ;)

The show is picking up and is more interesting becasue the three drips, especially Sofia, have less stage time.

Cheryl, Thanks. Yes,I was referring to the relationship between Fernando and Abuelo. In addition, The kiss that Ruth planted on Fernando seemed to be sarcastic(can a kiss be sarcastic?). She was wiping her mouth as she descended the stairs. I adore Ruth, she she is so authentic albeit in such a skanky way. Carlos

Thanks for the well-written re-cap!

Okay, Franco has a really nice voice....when it's on key. I have heard recordings from his albums on Pandora that are really good. I can't for the life of me figure out why they allow the off key rendition of Ave Maria, like four times now, to be put out there. It's been terrible and painful every time.

Things are really picking up, this was a great episode. I'm so intrigued by Coyote and his Mother. She looked like she had been burned, very scary. Gee, I wonder who could have done that?? There are bad deeds that still have not completly come to light. This is one of them, and I'm still waiting for more detail about what happened with Fernando's parents and family, are these connected?

Also someone yesterday reminded us that the Uribe Nephews parents died in some mysterious accident. Could this also come to light? Will we see the tweedles again? (Benito is going through a bad patch over on Cuidado)

And it seems pretty clear that they are writing Abuelo out of the show, wish it wasn't so!

(this could be off topic??)

Maybe Abuelo didn't want to extend his contract to go along with the extension on this show, but we could be beyond the plazo on that already, just speculating.

Did they ever say what happened to Pedro's mom? Could be Coyote's mom also? She did look like she had been burned.

Very enjoyable rundown of events in Mexiloon, Cheryl! I could actually feel your "slimy cuddles" comment. Good one! Makes my stomach lurch just like Feo does.

Glad to see Root didn't let me down. That was her biological grandaddy there and I couldn't believe that the novela gods would let her commit abuelo-cide. Perhaps she's on the road to redemption.

After the big Rosario send-off the similarity to Augie's saying his good-bye's to everyone really was a downer. It was like a big flashing "he's toast" sign. Depressing with a capital D.

How can gabi think that ruth is the aire, when they know that ruth is Ricardo's and not Bernardos child. Bernardo is the one who left the money to sofia and sofia is the result of eva and bernardo. Es verdad? Eva said she got preg by him and they say sofia is evas.

Anon: How can gabi think that ruth is the aire, when they know that ruth is Ricardo's and not Bernardos child.

This isn't about who inherits Bernardo's fortune. This is about who inherits from Gabi (who, at the moment, controls Bernardo's fortune).

Gabi named Ruth as her own heir a few months ago, even before she knew that Ruth was her daughter, because she was angry with Feo and wanted to make sure that if she died, her money would end up in the hands of someone that Feo couldn't get it away from.

Of course, that was before Ruth started sleeping with him! And Gabi doesn't know about that yet!

Cheryl, this was easily the best Fuego episode ever. Yet, somehow your recap still improved it. Thank you.

I didn't know what to make of the Grandpa Montage either. Hopefully it just means that the actor got another gig and won't have time to come back for the ultimos capitulos!

Connie, I love Franco, and I have listened to some of his non-Fuego music. But his Ave Maria is horrid! I don't know why they don't fix it. Either his albums are over produced and he really is not that good, or the sound guy on this show sucks. Given the pee pee fountain I'm inclined to the later!

His singing can go, but the tight pants stay!

Cheryl thanks much for the splendid recap. "Slimy cuddles," what an splendidly nasty image that conjures up!
Franco is so consistently off key on Ave Maria that it must be deliberate. Ouch, my ears, my hears. But he really does have a good voice. You-tube him singing the opening theme for "Gata Salvaje" in his l'il white charro suit.
"Creemelo"

Cheryl - thanks for the wonderfully snarky recrap. I had time to watch this one, too. It was a pretty good episode.

Loved the long list of Santa's previous husbands. Abuelo should take note and head for the hills. Alone. I want to know why they all died. It explains why she's so wealthy, too. Awwww....I hope they're not writing abuelo out of the story. He is the only "voice of reason" in this telenovela, and that's not saying much.

I hope Ruth will be redeemed. She saved Abuelito, after all.

doris

Yes, Carlos, I do believe that you can kiss sarcastically and Ruth just showed us how to do it with flair. I enjoyed that wipe off as she went down the stairs too and the way you described it. Great Ruth moment, she really has Feo figured out and can keep him in the dark for the present.

And Pasofino, Connie, Doris, Paloma, Creemelo et al, how about making Franco only sing in the shower, and I mean that little one that didn't seem to have an adequate curtain??? Randy, I apologize to you guys that we can't bring Rosario back to do one or two last BonBon numbers for your sake. Maybe she can do that as a spector in the dry ice forest some night when the moon isn't full (there have been two or three such nights, right?)

GinCA, Jardinera, Julie and all the Abuelo fans, and I include myself as a big fan, remember at the beginning of this telenovela that Joaquín Cordero announced this would be his last role. He is after all 86 years old and seems to have been acting since he was in his twenties. He has had a long illustrious career in movies and telenovelas. I think they shot all this lovely footage of the perfect grandfather as an homage to him that he can enjoy in the present. I hope we see him again before this is all over. He did a realistic job of choking in the elevator, I don't think his powers and talents as a fine actor have subsided at all. He might be really tired from the physical demands of this role. In fact doesn't he have to come back to help condemn Gabriela for pulling the switch in the car wreck. We have already seen that scene but at the time no one paid attention to him, so let's hope he has to come back and tell it again.

That kiss by Ruth was a quick peck then in one quick swift move, she descended the stairs nonchalantly wiping her mouth in disgust with a speechless Fernando looking on. I love it!! Fernando is ususally not speechless. Heh.

Ibarramedia

For anyone *coughcoughRandycough* who might want to see Rosario do the bonbon number again... on a bright sunny beach!

julie - Isn't the money Sofia's child's? I don't understand how gabbie can benefit now, since sofia is not her child. Earlier on, sofia was going to throw gabbie out, cause everything was hers then we find out she has to have a child to get the inheritemce. I am confused now. Also, didn't abuelo just recently say he had to see gabbie befor he left because she was in for a big surprise?? That did not happen, or maybe he didn't leave yet.

Thanks, Cheryl. I'm a little confused about why Ricky and Ferd hate each other so much. Does Ricky know that Ferd was sleeping with Raq ??? How many episodes are left ? And if he does , why does he care since he doesn't seem to love Raq. Will ''Manana Es para Siempre'' follow in Fuego's place ?

I am curious, in a sick demented way, but did Feo and Root do the deed or not? I hope not, ugh. With Univision editing, I am confused. G inCA

Julie, thanks for the sunny bonbon assasin link. That was the little shot of cheer I needed on this gray rainy day!
"Creemelo"

Here's my prediction for Root. She throws herself under the bus to save the babies. Or to save Abuelo. Or to save someone else admirable. Maybe to save Caprichio so he can testify at Feo's trial.

Pasofino, you said, "Franco's singing - I think he should only sing in a group." Be careful what you ask for! If you think he sings badly, you must have suppressed the memory of Juan singing. Ewww! I'll take off-key Ave Maria any day!

Paula: Oh, I remember it well. Juan sings off-key, loud and proud. He's also in on the joke. Happy New Year.

funny food for thought.

Raq tells crab that she raised eva's baby but root is hers. Gab is upset at first but then happy. She then lays one on raq that root is Ricardo's meaning they slept together, now raq is upset. Well now Raq can tell crab that she and feo have been having an affair and that would take the smile off crabbie's face.;

Cheryl: nice chacmool! And great recap! And thanks for all the input about Joaquín Cordero . I didn't know anything about him and am always sad when the old ones quit. (my father-in-law passed away last week). I hate to think that abuelo is "toast" (gracias at Jardinera).

As for Pablo Montero and the Ave Maria: I followed that U-Tube link and heard him sing Gata Salvaje and yes it was real nice, but synched and who knows how much engineering went into setting it straight. The Ave Marias I've heard from him on this show always started out at least a full tone and a half flat (maybe more, my sense of pitch isn't that acute) and it took him all the way thru a long A-h-h-h-h- and halfway through the v-e-e before he landed on the right note. Then, I couldn't even follow the melody for the next few measures, because none of the notes were correct. Do they fix up all his music in the studio? Does this guy do concerts? How can he get away with it? He's so cute 'n'sexy with those adorable sleazy tight pants. Even cuter in the white charro costume. I don't get it.

I MOST definitely loved Rosario and Sunny Bonbon Assesino, though it was a little slower than usual.

Even if Franco were to sing Ave Maria perfectly, I think he should move up to the front to sing it. It's ridiculous seeing everybody look to the back to watch him sing.

Ibarramedia

Anon 6:22: Bernardo's money was supposed to go to Sofia, but only if Sofia had a child, else Gabi gets it all.

At first, Sofi did get inheritance because she has these three kids, one of which is hers. But then Crabi challenged the will and got a judge to impose a time limit for Sofi to prove that one of them was her biological child.

Since Sofia refused to DNA-test the kids to prove that she has a child, Gabi gets the money because she's next in line. So, for the time being, if Gabi drops dead today, Ruth inherits it all.

I know a lot of this doesn't make sense. The idea that Bernardo would want Sofia to lose the money if something happened to her baby - that's insane. So is the fact that he kept Feo's treachery a secret and hid the evidence, rather than simply turning him in.

I think Franco/Pablo can sing pretty well, just not on that song. It's a little too high for his deep voice, and he has to sing it sweetly, so he can't really "hit" the high notes the way he can in a fast song. He ends up trying to glide up to the note, and never really makes it. I'm pretty sure they recorded this performance a while back, and have used the same exact recording, with him lip-synching, the last three times he's been in church. Yes, it sounds terrible, but think of all the money they saved!

I don't remember another show where so many of the characters have had singing parts. We've had

-Franco
-Oscar and Juan (sort of)
-Sarita
-Niurka (can't remember her character's name)
-Tio Vicente
-Rosario
-the guy Rosario was on tour with
-the lady who thought she was Rosario's mother

I also think Pablito sang at least once, and maybe cousin Pedro.

Cousin Pedro did sing. Remember he got the job in the club that the Uribe brothers owned.

Oh right, I forgot Pedro sang at the Tumbao! He also did a song at the chile pepper festival - I remember he sang it on a prancing horse.

What about Quinty...did she ever sing ???

I think Quintina has sung, and recently, but you know how the mind tends to block out bad experiences.

I wish Capricio would sing. Which reminds me . . . we haven't seen Pablito's dog lately. Did the anvil drop on him, too, or did he bite his agent in the leg, break his FELS contract, and escape?

doris

How come the other soaps are on on the eve of holidays and holidays and Fuego isn't. Last night on new years night, the soap before ours was on during our time slot???

Anon, my best guess is that they are doing this to 1) hook more viewers on the other shows to improve their ratings and 2) more important, to shift the end date for Fuego so that it ends on the date that's convenient for Univision.

Figures they'd pre-empt the show now that it's getting really interesting!
