Cuidado: Friday 5/15/09- "Step into my web, said the spider to the fly"

After receiving the picture (showing Marichuy with Daniel) from Ana Julia, Juan Miguel is confused, but still can only think of going home and making MC see again. MC gets a new teacher, Rafael. He tells her that he’s going to teach her many things….she’s skeptical. He tells her that he’s blind and she seems shocked to learn this, but otherwise impressed. She ends up sharing her feelings about being in the depths of despair over her blindness. He tells her there are worse things than being blind. He reminds her that she’s got four other senses and they can provide her with much information about the world. He starts their lessons. Daniel flirts with Rocío. He ends up kissing her and she acts aghast at his actions. She tells him that will be the last kiss he’ll ever get from her. He tells her that it was just the first of many and he hopes he won’t have to steal kisses from her in the future. Juan Miguel graduates from his six months of ophthalmology school at Boston University. He speaks in English at his commencement…..his professor, however, gives his address in Spanish. JM tells the prof that he won’t be attending any parties, he’s heading home very early the next day. Purita visits her M-I-L, Clemencia, and tells her that she and Adrian found out that they can’t have children. Purita is devastated. Clemi tells her that they should seek a second opinion and she hooks her up with a different doctor. Purita is hopeful that they’ll get better news. Marichuy has a nightmare about “seeing” JM again. He’s in the arms of another woman and is almost cavalier about MC being blind. MC mutters that she hates him. JM arrives home and the women of the castle are very happy to see him. Mayita is anxious to show him her school work. He and Onelia share a nice moment where he tells her she’s become like a mother to him and he’s very thankful for everything she’s done. Onelia is obviously touched. When Mayita heads out to get her school work, JM asks Ro and Onelia what’s going on with MC. He can tell by their facial expressions that something’s up…..is it that MC is in love with another. Ro tells him that she’s sure there is no new romance for MC. She does mention that there is a new teacher. Onelia says she’s also sure there is no romance, nothing other than what’s brewing between Ro and Daniel. Ro deflects the teasing. They discuss how MC doesn’t talk about JM much, she changes the subject whenever he comes up. He tells them that he doesn’t know what he’ll do regarding MC. He heads upstairs because he’s knackered and wants a shower (does this mean another shirtless scene is soon to be upon us?). Onelia says to Ro that they shouldn’t meddle in JM and MC’s affair, they should let them work it out (did I get that right?). Ana Julia has a hissy fit because she hasn’t heard from JM in awhile. She starts to trash her place. Rafael has a positive effect on MC. She starts to work with her cane. She begins to study Braille with his help and even ends up making dinner. Cande and Cece watch, fearful of MC with a knife, but she’s quite successful in cutting lettuce for a salad (which will just brown the lettuce, but she’s blind, so she won’t see it I suppose). MC ends up serving the dinner to Rafael. She talks a little about Juan Miguel. Beto flirts with Cande…they are goofy together, but I think he’s even goofier than Cande. Martirio appears to be jealous. Juanmi calls AJ (he’s wearing his cloths, so I don’t think we’re getting a shower scene…..bummer!). He wants to see her and she tells him she’s got a new apartment. He agrees to go there (this can’t bode well for our protagonist)...it's like the spider waiting for the fly. She finds out he hasn’t contacted MC yet. She’s overjoyed that he’s called her first, taking it to be some sort of sign that he’s all into her (how does this man continue to attract the craziest of all women?). Amador’s aunt brings him in a report from a private investigator. Amador opens the file…it is filled with addresses and phone numbers. He’s happy to have this information so he can now start to exact revenge. The scene ends up with him standing up from his wheelchair and his sneering face melds into that of the growling wolf. Bea tells Ed that she’s a little ticked because she saw him hugging and kissing Elsa the other day. Ed tells her that it was just a friendly hug and kiss (only on the cheek). He reminds her that she’s the only woman for him. Bea rembers that he and Elsa used to have a thing going on. Ed reminds her that’s in the past and she’s his wife now and again tells her that she’s the only woman for him. Elsa confesses to her mother that she’s confused about how she felt when she was with Ed the other day. Her mother tells her that she’s no business even going there. Elsa made her choice, picking Nelson over Ed….even leaving Ed at the altar. Luisa tells her daughter to let Ed and Bea live in peace….Bea is a nice person, she’s been like a sister to Elsa. Elsa is upset that her mother is sticking up for Bea. Juanmi arrives at Ana Julia’s apartment. She invites him in after he prompts her (she was all aflutter at seeing him, she forgot to lure him in). She tells him how handsome he looks and how she missed him. He says how much he wanted to see her. She’s happy to hear his words and fishes for a compliment from him regarding how good she looks. He misses taking the bait and tells her again how important it was for him to come and see her, she’s his only hope. AJ is just eating this all up, but then her mood takes a nose dive when JM says that the reason he’s there is that AJ is the only person who can honestly tell him what’s going on with his beloved Marichuy. AJ turns away from JM and faces the camera…..if looks could kill and MC were to be in the room, well let’s just say there would be a funeral being planned. END OF EPISODE

Love the title Cathy. Only saw the last portion of this but started to laugh when I realized Ana Julia was looking right at Juan Miguel's incredible behind when she thought bubbled how good-looking he was. Way to go Ana Julia! You're evil but at least you know a great tush when you see one.

I get it!!! The producers of this show got the orphans at the hospice to write the scripts for the last 50 episodes as a creative writing assignment, and the ending will be; "Oh, it was all a bad dream", and it will revert to some point which will explain why the babies in this tele never age.

Great recap as always. I didn't get to see the show so reading your recap is fabulous.

Purita needs to make an appointment with Juan Miguel so he can cure her fertility problems. That man can do anything!

Elsa should just give it up. I thought she had learned something from Nelson's death about doing the right thing. Apparently not. I wonder if she will fit into Amador's plans some how? With these crazy writers - who knows?

Onelia is also becoming one of my favorites. However her advice about not interfering with MC and JM is way off the mark. Those two need to be told what's what. They have been left alone to figure out their issues and have come away even more clueless!

Physician heal thyself doesn't seen to apply here.

Caray! Caray!

Thanks for the recap and chuckles, Cathy. I don't know how you manage with it with the drivel from this novela.

Waterloolu, love your orphan writers scenario. LOL. That would explain it, especially if none of the kids knew what the others were writing.

But yay, finally somebody got Mari a cane. This has been my pet peeve for awhile, wondering why none of those braniacs thought of that.

Even though Juanito has to be doing a Peter Pan or Dorian Gray thing, I hope they never change him. He's the cutest baby ever and his facial expressions are so precious. I loved how fascinated he was when Mari was playing with the carousel in one scene.

J.J.

Cathy and Maggie, thanks for the great Thursday and Friday recaps. Both of your titles were stellar as well!

Rafael's long overdue arrival was most welcome. Finally, a dedicated teacher who's already begun to restore Mari's confidence. Oh, also, someone who won't take the opportunity to harm her further physically (by pushing her down the stairs) or mentally (by not sabatoging her love life).

Amador is frightening. A wolf in wolf's clothing.

When Elsa and Ed were engaged, Elsa was bored to tears. I remember her rolling her eyes on more than one occasion. She knew she would have been miserable married to Ed which is why she left him at the altar for Nelson (not that that relationship ended well either but...).

Now, she has regrets? It's yet another plot line that makes no sense. Thankfully, Luisa told her to stay away. However, I did notice that Ed has his eyes closed when he was hugging Elsa. Hope that just meant he cares but not in a romantic way. :(

So, what does AJ have in store for JM tonight?

Cathy, great recap.

I love Luisa. If only she could try to beat some sense into some of the other characters as well.

I thought the graduation was ridiculous...do you really do the whole cap-and-gown thing for a six-month program? Also hard to believe that individual graduates would be giving little speeches, but I'll just assume they invited JM to the ceremony and asked him to speak just because everyone at the school thinks he's so cute.

Hoorah!!! All is not lost. Luisa to the rescue!! finally somebody with morals and common sense. The rest of this show I won't even comment about. It is just depressing. The really good people on this show now can't have kids. What's up with that?

Thanks again for a great recap, Cathy! Awesome as usual.

I think the writers are playing with us, viewers. They plan on making everyone on that show suffer - the good people such as Purita, Adrian, Beatriz, Eduardo, JM, Marichuy, Candalaria, Patricio, Cecilia, Olga, Clemencia, San Roman household- dealing with crazy AJ, and even Padre listening to all those crazy & misguide individuals. Even the bad guys suffered or are going to -AJ(delusional for thinking she can change JM's mind- three women already tried & failed and trusting Amador.

I like Diana's statement about Amador, "A wolf in wolf's clothing." I don't get him, though, I thought he was smart. However, this seems to be not the cause because he is still on his revenge quest against Beatriz. He didn't want her all when she came around the studio and also her baby. Now he wants the baby and Beatriz not happy. I think he is stupid because he is after her again when the first time he was in an accident- he never learned anything while he was almost dead. Next time, it could be worst. He could still be alive and be dependent on everyone to care for him for the rest of his life. I think jail is too easy for this wolf.

I agreed again with Diana about the addition of Rafael. His long overdue arrival was most welcome. I totally agree. "Finally, a dedicated teacher who's already begun to restore Mari's confidence. Oh, also, someone who won't take the opportunity to harm her further physically (by pushing her down the stairs) or mentally (by not sabatoging her love life)."

NOW THEY CAN FIRE ANA JULIA - SHE DIDN'T DO HER JOB. SHE DIDN'T TEACH Marichuy anything. Rafael is the one who did the work. Ana Julia is not needed now. She is just making trouble. The women get a taste of her own medicine.

I am glad that Juan Miguel is back. This means to me that we will see him with Marichuy soon maybe not back together, but they will interact at least.

One more thing: WHERE IN THE WORLD IS Vicente? I thought he loved Rocio. He is not coming after her. Now Daniel has seem to sweep Rocio off her feet. Maybe Vicente is out for the count. Maybe the actor is finished with this show.

Juan Miguel, please don't fall her Ana Julia's tricks. Keep fighting for the love of your life. Remember when Vivana came back andthought it was over with Marichuy forever, but see what happened things change.

Genevieve

I think JM came back to Mexico too hastily...he should have taken a side trip to Italy to beat the snot out of Vicente.

Genevieve: We are all putting our collective beanies on in order to deal with Vincente's supposed "betrayal". Another implausible and dreary plot line. Although, I do wish Julia's side trip for JM materialized so Vin would be made to see the error of his ways.

I've seen Daniel, I like Daniel but Daniel, you're no Vincente.

Thanks for the recap Cathy. I completely agree with J.J. comments regarding how you and the other recappers write recaps so much better than these episodes.

I guess the writers (good one Waterloolu regarding the orphans) want to stir things up and have Elsa alter her character in the same way Vicente suddenly cheats on Rocio (spot on comment Diana). Seriously, writer :(

I'm so psyched its finally the last weeks of this show!!

Thank you so much, Cathy! You really captured the episode well.

I liked this episode. Rafael was a real breath of fresh air, and I loved Elsa’s mom’s firm lecture. I like that the actress playing AJ is so good at doing a pinched-faced expression when she’s peeved. JM did well with his English, though it did stretch credibility that Dr Duran would be lecturing in Boston if he doesn’t speak English.

Mari’s literacy sure has taken a jump! She had trouble reading when she was sighted, and now she’s learned Braille in just a few days and reads fluently. Way to go!

Why did Amador’s aunt get that information for him? Is she afraid of him?

Folk watchers and commenters,

I was wondering about Beatriz's baby what is his name?

He has weird hair or maybe they make his hair stand up just like his father Amador. He usually has shoes while Juanito(hope I spelled it right)has none. He takes after his mom - Marichuy. However, now that Cecilia and Patricio are take care of her she has some nice shoes I know.

Another thing Juanito is supposed to be over a year or so, he should be walking or standing. He is not maybe this is because everyone carries him around. They should stand him up and practice, so he start to stand and walk. What do you folks think?

Genevieve

Orphans with typewriters or could it be monkeys with typewriters? Or maybe monkeys without typewriters!

You guys are a valiant bunch to stick with this. I have now caught up with the recaps and I'm current. Thank you all for your efforts!!

No thanks to this show that doesn't seem to be going anywhere in particular except to extend the suffering by any means necessary.

I know were supposed to have all kinds of things keeping our Hero and Herione apart, but this is beyond beyond. And what happened to all the main characters?? There are important people that are just gone!

The Vicente thing is truly bizarre so much was invested in his character and the wuv...twu wuv between Vicente and Rocio that there can only be one explanantion: The actor must have gotten a better gig. I liked him.

On the other hand, there is an underlying subtext to this story which is a cautionary tale about getting involved with any type of artista, be it actors, painters, or other assorted dancing drumming loose freethinking commie hippie dreamers. They can't be trusted and a young lady should really strive to marry a proper doctor: Psychiatrist, Opthamologist, or whatever, even if the dude is a tortured mess who doesn't know his own (very fine) a** from a hole in the ground. At least he can provide the bottom line: the Dough, the Castle, the Help.

Ay! as someone else said: Caray!

Wow Randy. I really liked your insight about the underlying message about young women marrying those artist types. Now add to that crazy Amadork and you have a complete nightmare.

hey guys i know i'm late on this vicente and rocio breakup... but i thought they just broke up because rocio was sick of his lifestyle. he apparently cheated on her? can someone please clarify? because it doesn't make sense for vicente to turn out to be like that :(

JM Lover: Yes, Ro walked in while Vincente was kissing a model. I know, totally ridiculous. So, Ro left and came home. Diana in MA
