Las Tontas no Van Wed. 6-3-09 - One wedding and one divorce down...more to come? Ali actually sees other fish?

Raul and Sole marry. Hugs and kisses all around.

Mario sneaks up to the grounds to find Pau.

Santi tells Raul to run. He says you should too then, you are on the same path. They toast and laugh.

Pau and Mario continue arguing. The gist of this argument is that he needs to leave because Pau told Santi the whole truth about leaving for him not the career. She tells Mario she told Shanti Mario is Roc’ real Pa. He is po’d because now Santi wants to kill him, not just the mob.

Sole chats with Beto to make sure he won’t miss her too much when she’s gone. He won’t, he lovews her. She too and she cries.

Santi spies Mario departing and calls him on his betrayal with Pau. Mario studders and wanders off after Santi says don’t bother explaining, just leave. Pau watches from a distance the exchange.

Arturo & Gogo chat and Art says he gave Pato a great surprise but he can’t tell about it yet. Hmmm….

Issy and Jaime come up with Tono and Zamora, whom Jaime introduces as his son frijolito, Tono makes a joke about being adopted and called little lentil and together they could make a legume salad.

Santi walks up to the girls chatting and smooches on Candi, he notices Ali standing without the baby and goes up to the house.

Turns out Santi can’t contain himself to hold the baby. He tries to do what he can suggesting all things to Pato to wander off. Finally, he tells him to go warm the milk, he's more in practice these days and he'll hold the baby. He coos to Patito he's finally with his Padrino and shys away from giving him back to Pato.

Pau takes Ali up to her room to moan about Mario returning. She tells Ali that she fears he’ll ruin her plans, and she tells Ali that Roc is Mario’s child. Ali actually sounds concerned about Santi because he loves Roc so much.

Lu runs into a nicely dressed Charly and Fede comes up apparently uninvited. Charly smartly leaves so fist won’t fly.

Pau decides to sic Mario on Ali at her suggestion to interest him in another woman and shows her a pic. No esta mal she proclaims, he‘s hot. Ok, she’ll seduce him.

The new family chats over at Meno’s about the wedding and how happy and beautiful it was and how happy Beto was and smart etc to see his Mom marry another man, and he’ll still have his Dad. The kids don’t buy it and think Beto is happy because Raul has been so good to him. This prompts Santi to contemplate the benefits of spankings again. He gets a call from the Agente that they found Marissa in Sao Paulo, so he will go there. Roc proclaims suki suki again that she’ll maybe get to be with her brother finally. He leaves Roc at Candi's and jokes she’s going to live there now.

Issy can tell something is bothering Lu about her boyfriend. Lu is upset with Fede she tells her G-ma - he always wants to you know and I don't yet. She says good for fleeing, you shouldn’t sleep with someone you don’t want to. Now there's a profound telenovela thought.... :)

Pau plans the encounter with Ali and Mario sending him to meet her at a bar after telling him on the phone to meet Pau herself/.

Lu thinks she’s still in love with Charley, but she’s scared to get close to him, despite knowing that’s bad.

Raul and Sole start their honeymoon…..well not quite….the taxi is downstairs to take them to the airport. For a ten hour flight they will have to wait. He reminds her there is a bathroom….huy!!

Pato chats with Beto to make sure he’s not missing his Ma too much. He tries to cheer Beto up with all these great things they will do and tells him how well he behaved and he should be proud, his Ma is happy.

Sex pot walks in and Mario instantly notices her. We get a panning up her leg. Boys liked that I’m sure.

Beto wants a song to help him to sleep. Pato doesn’t know a song except Alejandro Fernandez or Miguel Bose, but Beto doesn‘t know these guys so he‘s going to miss MA even more.

Mario and Ali are instant twin souls…yeah right. They talk about NY and how it is the center of the universe.

Issy thinks maybe Lu is with Fede to forget Charles…things don’t work that way, she should figure out if she really wants to forget Char

Charly chats with Meno about Lu and feeling bad to have her be with a guy infected like him. Meno tells him he has the right to love. He’s going to submit his film and do other things to take his mind of his pain.

Santi gets flight to Brasil the next day. Pau comes in and chats nicely to him while they are packing. He is impactado. She offers to help with the wedding. He thinks that’s maybe not so good, but they’ll talk later.

He wakes up and says goodbye to everyone when the agent shows up. Ooops, false alarm no flight to Sao Paulo they were confused by a Mexican lady hiding there for robbing a jewelry store.

Pato plays super padre again and they talk about making Banderitas…Beto misses his Mama

Ali shows up in the am, apparently still drunk. Pato isn’t face. Margarita thinks she should have shame and that Pato won’t be attracted to her like this. She’s not concerned there are other prospects.

The big house family is having breakfast and Pau announces to much impactedness that she is going to move out. Roc is the only one bummed

The multicolored house is also having breakfast. Candi gets call from Pato and gets an impactado face…and we go to commercial.

Ah, he’s giving her the uncontested divorce. They are at the judge’s.

Ali and Pau chat about Mario’s virtues. Pau tells of her plan to be nice and try to convince them to let her help plan the wedding. Then she’ll drop the bomb.

Divorce PSA. The judge spews about broken homes and reconciliation etc. Candi is upset that things might not be final today, but Pato agrees with her and thinks it best that they just finalize it, and agrees with her that not all families have problems and they will work together for Chava.

Mario chases down Pau, he’s mad she flaked on him. He tries to find out what she really wants and thinks it’s the money. She invites him to the house for a “session”… Hmmm where will this go

Pato chats with Chava about the divorce and how happy Candi is with Santi so we need to be happy for her. Chava is impressed being picked up at school with such a car. Hell yeah….we even get to hear it’s low hum engine… how fun.

Horty announces Candi who brings flowers and tells of the divorce. They joke about their wedding being soon and other kissy stuff.

Pau goes to the office of Candi and wants to help with their wedding. Candi will “let her know…” :) yeah right...obviously this has to go somewhere though...

Ali calls Mario and gets the slip, but he does promise to call her after his er “commitment”

The “family” is all dressed up at dinner and the kids wonder what the elegance is for, they decided to set the date for the wedding. The kids are not happy about the wedding so the parents actually say, heh, tough, like it or not we are marrying. Hurrah!!!

Wow, I can't believe you captured that astounding shot of Santi shying away from Pato while holding the baby. Nice job! It seems like Santi is really starting to bond with Patito.

I noticed tonight that Pau always talks through her teeth. Weird.

After the last discussion I kept waiting for Raul and Sole to kick the bucket. I've got to get that off my brain because it's driving me crazy. Writers, please do not kill the happy couple!

I liked Sole's wedding dress. She has such great legs that even her bridal gown had to show them off.

Tonight we ladies also had some eye candy with the great torso shots of Raul and Mario. Thank you wardrobe people for recognizing that less is more.

Great recap Kris. The pictures were fantastic!

Thank you for the recap Kris. Covered all the main points and clarified a few things I missed. Great pictures. Yeah, Augie Arana looks just fine without a shirt.

I liked Santiago's self therapy. Though well controlled, he was in near-rage when he talked Mario. After he ejected Mario, he knew he had to adjust his attitude. So he went to find Candy and got some medicinal kisses (that's a running theme in Tontas - her kisses revive him). Then he goes to find Patito and love on him until everything is all better.

Great way to fix a bad mood. Much better than kicking the dog.

Thanks for the recap Kris. If it was that easy to get rid of Mario, he would have been already gone. I'm sure there are plenty of other good looking women for him to hook up with at other bars, plenty that would be trying to latch onto him. :)

Looked like Raul has been working out. Going back to yesterday and Diana's thought on Raul and Soledad, when Candy got the phone call, I was like no puede ser. It's happened already!! Whew, nope, just going to see the judge. So then the divorce is completed? The judge didn't take any money from Art then? If Greg only knew what Art was trying to do, she would drop him like a hot rock.

Kris, great recap and great photos. Soledad looked lovely in her wedding dress, although I was looking forward to a wedding shorts ensemble.

Carlos

I wonder if they have a different makeup person on the set. All the women are looking particularly beautiful these days. Soledad looked gorgeous, Chayo is cuter than ever, and Alicia was positively stunning.

Great details Kris, thank you so much!
I think Pau is very pretty but Ali has her beat hands down in the figure department. Pau take note, this is what a sexy woman looks like.
The wedding was beautiful as were the bride and groom. Santi's home must be the official wedding ceremony destination.
I thought Charly looked very nice all dressed up. I liked his hair. To contrast Fred looked his usual sloppy nasty.
I'm so glad to see Candy and Santi putting their foot down with the kids.
It's so sweet to see Santi with the baby. I do think though that Pat looks the most natural when holding him. I don't know if he has held a lot of babies but this one just seems to snuggle right into his arm.

Great recap, Kris. And of course, all the terrific screenshots.

I think there was a big contrast between well-dressed, respectful Charly, and party-crasher Federico. And later, when Isa asked Lucia why she was going out with Fed, Lucia said, well, he's good-looking, and, ummm.....In other words, she doesn't even know, and Isa's right she may just be trying to forget Charly.

I, too, thought the phone call from Pat to Candy was a plane crash or something with Raul and Sole. Please, no!

Our bad characters are sure getting a lot of action. Pau was with Gabino recently, now apparently with Mario. Mario's with Alicia, and then maybe Pau. But Raul and Sole (and Santi and Candy) have to wait. No fair!

I also thought that when Arturo said he had a surprise for Pat, that meant he bribed the judge. Well, the judge did try to discourage Candy and Pat from divorcing, but they insisted, so who knows?

I also liked how they found a way to show off Sole's legs in the wedding gown. And planning the whole wedding in one day - it took my wife and daughter almost a year to plan my daughter's!

wortieI also have been worried ever since Raul got that email about the long overseas trip. Please! Please! Please! No anvils for these two!!!

I was too busy looking at Santiago to even notice the bride! He looked so handsome in his suit. Yow-zah! (I love a man in a tie...) Paulina needs to eat. Looking at her ribs sticking out was not a nice sight. Not sexy! Alicia is very sexy and quite pretty. She is the perfect person to play this role. Charly looked very nice all spiffed up. Too much eyeliner on Luc though I thought.

Since I have not been watching that much, have some ???s. Did Paulina actually tell Santi that Rocio is not his? What is the bomshell she is going to drop at Cande and Santi's wedding, or is that it, that Rocio is not his? Is this a fact though?

I hope the writers do not kill off Sole and Raul as Beto was so sad without his mom and it is only for a few weeks. I can't imagine the pain he would have if she died. Please don't kill her off!

Ugh, thank goodness I didn't read about this plane crash idea before I saw the show. I don't like it one bit and I don't like the way the anxiety colors my enjoyment of the episodes. Let's not talk about this anymore. Sigh. Comedy, people!!! :)

I did like how nice the teens looked and I should have put in a pic of them. Charly looked downright handsome indeed and of course they made Fede look out of place.

This was a surprisingly quick epi to cap, maybe because I dispensed with a lot of minor dialog, perhaps because most of it we've heard before.

I agree, I can't believe Mario would just drop his obsession. Obsessions don't work that way...equally that Alicia could be so smitten so fast. I know they have shown her running out of luck with her current situation but still, that smitten? Nah...despite his obvious attributes :) He's a fugitivo for gosh sakes...I guess the NY angle is appealing...hell tell her ot go over to MEPS...she'd give Esteve a good time for sure. :)

As quick as this wedding got set up, Candy definitely won't need any Pau help for hers.

JeffMN

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Paulina only got out the part about her leaving Santi for Mario. She didn't tell him about Rocio's parentage, maybe because she wasn't going to, or maybe because in the middle of this discussion rocio came in and wanted to know why her parents were fighting.

She only told Mario that to make him fear Santi more I suspect.

At this point it's considered a fact from Paulina. No one has indicated anything to the contrary, but there has been no DNA confirmation, so I think most of us hold out hope that this is just another ruse by Paulina that we haven't been let in on yet, or that it's just an error. Kinda doesn't matter to me, for me I feel either way her only Pa is Santi y punto. :)

Oh and I'm not sure what catastrophe she wants to lay on them if she plans their wedding. I don't think we've been given any hints...anyone?

Could be the Rocio thing, or it could be some wedding planner faux pas like instead of a bucket full of confetti falling on them, it's green paint or burro excrement or something like this.

Who knows...if it is the Rocio thing man that's just so worthy of a telenovela detah, how awful, I haven't even seen her that awful really.

You know speaking of excrement...I may have missed something too, but has anyone noticed that despite all this apparent anxiety of Chava over his Mom's impending nuptuals, right up to running away because of it we haven't heard any bedwetting tales? Is he like miraculously cured? Or was that a dangler...

Um, that's death by the way, although I must admit I like the code "detah" too...as in "detah to society" :)

Kris, or perhaps "Welcome to Sprockets, I am 'Detah' your host..."

Last night was the first time I've thought Alicia looked pretty. Maybe she glows in her natural habitat, i.e., a gin joint.

Or perhaps she was beaming because Mario the Cable Guy promised to buy her some Chicharone flavor edible underdrawers for their their third rate romance.

Oooh, do I hear the clank of the skillet being readied?

The quick hook-up of Ali and Mario. Ali has been attention-starved for years, so she's drunk with the attention - a sexy, sophisticated guy lays on the flattery she's been hungry for. But more than that, I think the quick match is because Tontas was cut short. I suspect they needed Ali out of the way for the sake of the Pat plotline, and they ran out of time to develop it properly.

Kris is right. Pau didn't tell Santi about Roc. She just told Mario that to keep him away. As for the wedding bombshell, I don't know if Pau even has anything planned. From what I've seen, her plots are not very well though-out.

I'm still wondering who is the father of Rocio. Pau told Alicia that Mario was the father, so that would lead me to believe the Mario probably is the father. No need to really tell Alicia that unless it is true? But, if that is so, Rocio got a much better deal having Santi as her dad and living with him. :)

JeffMN

About Rocío, I don't buy it, Jeff. Pau has been the only source of that piece of info. When Mario told Isabel, it's because Pau had just told him. She never even told Mario that in the years they were together. I think Pau invented it as a way to intimidate Isabel.

My strongest evidence is the "call of blood" you see in all novelas. Look at how Santi profoundly connects with Patito even though he doesn't know he's his son. Santi has a magical relationship with Rocío, and there is zero connection between Roc and Mario. In fact, in novelas only the deeply evil don't love their children. Mario's not deeply evil. Ergo, when Pau told Mario that Roc is his, if it had been true, Mario would have had a craving to get to know Roc. He didn't.

Conclusion: Paulina's lying. Or perhaps Pau doesn't know (and we do), so she believes her own lie.

Thanks Kris, I appreciate your good recap and the pictures are such great choices. I too wish we could see Charlie dressed up, he is quite handsome and really overpowered the impression Fede made but Lu said he wasn't invited so that was an excuse. Nice graphic way to sway Lu's opinion too.

Paula I agree that Santi's way of defusing his anger is very sane and civil and Willa totally agrees with you that any tactic is better than kicking the dog! Perish the thought. Willa wants me to remind you all that no one but no one ever says kick the poodle in that expression. She really doesn't belong to the race of dogdom. But I digress.

Another story comes to mind, I have a friend who's wife told him in fights late in their brief marriage that his daughter might or probably was the progeny of her OTHER amante as a way to taunt him. My friend tells the important story of how an observant friend pulled him aside and said, no matter what the truth of father blood would show, that little girl thinks of you as the only father she will ever ever have. So my smart friend decided not to find out by test and the daughter got to grow up with his unconditional love and abiding fatherhood.

Ah Schhhhrpoocketsss! I love Diiieeetahr!!! Move with me now.../-/--\ ;')

Classic. Just like Belushi and the "pepsi, no coke" bits. Ah good old days.

Anyway, yeah I don't even think it's that complicated really, I'd just be surprised if they'd deal such a blow to the protagonist of not having that girl be his child. Pau could just think it was Mario's and she too could be wrong.

We'll find out soon enough...

Well, Paulina, Mario and Santiago could always appear on Maury Povich to learn the identity of the babydaddy.

or Don Francisco!!!

Either Pau will say that Santi is the true father of Rocio or else it will be the "call of blood" that Paula mentioned that will determine that is true. If Santi finds out that Mario may be the father, I don't think Santi would put Rocio through a DNA test to determine it. Santi knows who the real dad is, it is Santi. :)

JeffMN

Yep Jeff, I think you are right...it doesn't matter for the end result, especially if Mario is off cavorting in NY with Alicia...he has laid no claim to the girl anyway, so no need to rock the boat if everyone is cruising along ok...there's only burning curiousity and well we know what that did to the cat....

splat....

oh no wait, that was Candi, right Paula ;') !

:)

SPLAT!!!

Ojala. Que buena fuera.

Episode just finished here... Anyway, they flashed the Gran Final at the end. Now I realize I didn't catch the time, but Gran Final is the 19th, Viernes.

Wow. That's strange, because starting with Friday's cap, there are 13 cap's left. That would put the finale at Tuesday, 6/22. I can only think of three reasons.

1. The announcement was wrong, and the finale is really 6/22.
2. They give us two double-headers between now and then. Do they ever do that?
3. They condense episodes. That would be strange. They shifted episodes in the first three weeks of the show, but since then 1 MX = 1 US cap. OTOH, a little birdie told me there are three cap's coming up that could easily be condensed into one. Maybe they'll be merciful and do that.

There is also a thing after the finale, four alternate endings, each about 10 minutes. I don't know whether we'll see that or not.

It would be nice to see the multiple endings. Watching MEPS now and they have Gancho starting on the 22nd. So, if a mistake, they are continuing it.

JeffMN

Yes, if we've heard it from two angles (1. Tontas ends Fri; 2. Gancho starts Mon), then it's probably true.

Someone on TNW posted that it will be a 2-hour finale. So that covers one of the extra days. I suspect they'll condense episodes to recover one more timeslot.
