MEPS, Wed. June 3 - Cap.#77 - ¿Got Milk? ¿Got Power? ¿Got a New Board Member?

Revisiting Mañanaville: Where the devil did you get this (papers) says Camilho when he finally sees that Jacinto is holding insurance papers from his Papi's car. In a rare moment of emotion, hugging his father in front of the smirky Barbinator, in fact the only glee we have ever seen from Anibal about the $10 million, we are saved PaPa!! We see Gardenia's lovely neck wrung again but only hard enough for her to spill her secrets per the Boys in Black at Artemio's request.

Tonight, we relive the Jacinto -vs- Camilho standoff, just then Anibal shows up to tell little brother of the appearance of $10 million, we owe our lives to this man, claims Anibal to the ever smirking Cami, and now let's go see our new best friend, Franco Santoro. Jacinto has a moment of private triumph, still amazed at how much his life has changed lately while the elated Elizaldes drive away.

Gardenia gets the snake in a sack threat again, but gee we don't even get to see the snake tonight, shucks [Ed note: I must confess to being one of those weirdos who always like the herpetology building at the zoo.] She decides to tell them what Manzanares learned in Franco's house. What he learned squeaks out the breathless Gardenia, is that Don Santorito isn't named that. Manzanares found a passport with another name. Well what is his true (verdadero) name? demands Carpio.

Santiago wisely asks Fernanda not to tell anyone what he is is packing to go off to do and what has happened. Not even our sainted Papi?, chides Fernanda. And where do you think you will find Aurora? If she is alive, there is still hope, says Santi. She hugs him ands says don't stop fighting for love.

The snake is about to come out again. Before she spills the beans Gardenia wants to know they are good Christians and are not going to do her any harm. Gardenia talks fast, you have to think of my poor children (criaturas). My children will be orphans (quedar huerfanos). The father of my children abandoned me. The tongue is loosened by the continued strangling, She appeals to their mercy in the name of their children and sainted mothers. Carpio is screaming in exasperation. She gets closer and closer... Je Je Jésus López López.... [whew. Gardenia redeems herself and I don't have to hate her forever.]

The knocking on the door brings Esteve, calling for Gardenia. Where can she be she has been a long time at the market. He opens to a man with a clipboard says he has the rental car. He only needs a credit card and ID. They go to look, This is pretty, It's precious says the agent. He shows him the power steering (dirección hidráulica) and other features. you have to sign here.

Eduardo shows up at the asylum and greets Martina. She says they have missed him, Liliana is doing well. (Barely above coma level but it's all relative, no). He has serious news for her, but calms her fears that it isn't her father who is safe and sound in the little clinic. He continues, Jairo Roca's club was burned out last night in with the place full (en plen actividad) .

The boys in black decide to call Artemio, not knowing what to do next. We are in the car with Gardenia hearing the conversation, Artemio, it's Carpio, yes Gardenia talked, do you want to hear what she told us?
***

Martina is visibly upset, do you know who died? Eduardo has to tell her, 15 people including Jairo. Tearfully she asks, And Venus? Do you know what happened to her? The very Venus is in modest yellow scarf and twinkly blue eye shadow offering up flowers to thank the Virgincita for sparing her. Martina names other co-workers who may have perished, friends Colomba, Yesenia and especially Venus. Eduardo assures her she will be able to help her friends. Lili calls for Martina.

Gardenia is the one who needs the help. She is dragged from the car and Carpio says they will let her go cutting the duct tape from her wrists, but if she talks and they will hear about it and she will pay the consequences and he makes her say the real name of her patron again. She carefully says Jésus López López. She thanks God and says for her beloved Eduardo she is capable of anything.

Eduardo says he won't rest until he can see Lili out of here and completely healthy (sano). Do you remember who Artemio Bravo is? A lot depends on this including your liberty, he asks. She knits and sways saying, you are sad. No, I am fine, says Ed. Lili adds, But there is someone who knows who he is, someone who knows everything. Ask your Mama. She hands him the tiny coffer. Ask my Nana Soledad, she knows everything.

Fernanda determines that her Papi doesn't know everything. He swears that Barb had the car on the street. He tells her not to worry because she is going to be very busy. Why, because Power Milk has deposited all that money . IN place of $3m they have given us $10m. And you are saying that Mr. Santoro

Where is Santi: Silently she adds the epithet, second rate painter (pintor de pacotilla). El pintor is dreaming of meetings with Aurora and looking sad and remembering when she said a few good things . He goes back to the toll booth like we wanted him too but he is looking sad and remembering first scenes, better scenes then finally her being in love with another man speech. Santi tears.

Meanwhile sad sack Abora arrives back at the house of Dominga. It looks so much cleaner and cheerier than when we last saw it, but with sentimental music she fondly strokes the grimy sheets. of the grimy torturer letting us know she can still grab tragedy out of the mouth of salvation. Abora tears.

Babara is pressing and pressing where is Santi when is he coming back. Even though he takes no notice of the company, this news impacts him. And where is Auroral . Fernanda worms out and Barba thinks, Santi and Aurora are together now.

Esteve is singing to his new rental car, you are my little coochy face while he fusses with it [If this is a product placement, I can't figure out what kind of car it is or even which rental company, did anyone notice?]. when Gardenia comes up in the back of a farmer's hay wagon, not exactly with her hayride face on. She thanks the farmer and greets Esteve who says, What happened you had me worried. She begins to gasp for breath so she can tell him, me caer de santon?
***
Eduardo steps into the nurse office and she takes him to see the Dr. wackkyo He is taking a sleeping cure. She can't maintain this lie and hide his absence from staff and patients and families much longer. Eduardo tells nurse she should say he is on vacation . He asks if Martina can go see her

The B in B are telling Artemio of the passport and the name of Lopez but the picture of Santoro When he demands to see the effects they recovered from Manzanares, they sheepishly admit they have destroyed the body of Manzanares so they cannot recover anything. Jésus López López. hmmm.

Gardenia repeats the name for Esteve. That was the first name that occurred to me. Because they are many people with this name. Esteve points out that she has meddled (hurgando) with the name of Franco Santoro because now they will know that this isn't his real name.

Martina shows up to ask for Papa at the clinic. The nurse says he isn't here but ask Dr. Rey (aka Dr. Cuteguy). what happened to my Pa. You have nothing to worry about, your father got a lot healthier and wanted to go home.
He wants to go with her to find her Papi, she doesn't want to bother him, more likely doesn't want to take hin to her poor house but he has already seen it. Dr. Rey sighs in her wake, Martina is a woman full of mysteries, that is what disturbs me so about her.

Gardenia is telling Ed what she did was desperate but Ed says it was really ingenious. Esteve says Gardenia is in grave danger. Gardenia remembers that this guy or fool (fulano) is named Artemio Bravo.

The business (transfer) with Power Milk is confirmed. Didn't you have sufficient capability to kill it? She tells Artemio that PM gave more than triple the money so she thought it wasn't necessary to lose that much money. He must have thought it was an inversion (investment). Artemio tells Barbara that a old saying in business is if you can't beat the competition, buy them. He thinks that Power Milk that will come in take over, absorb and thus destroy Lactos. Barbara inquires about what Artemio has found out about Franco Santoro, he tells her the name that was found, but doesn't take her into his confidence of who and how. Again he repeats the name, Jésus López López, She looks serious but not like she knows the name, she just looks soundly one-upped.

While Esteve, Eduardo and Gardenia plan how to keep Gardenia safe, they notice, the Elizalde boys are coming up the driveway, Gardenia has had enough of them and walks out to hide. Eduardo slips out the back door and Steve says okay I will answer the door. He says meekly in sweat shirt , what can I do to help, Sorry Franco Santoro isn't here, who are you, Anibal is still animated and smiling, Oh yes I am Steve Norton Of Power Milk oh yes, Power Milk. Oh great please come in you guys.

Barbara is asking stupid questions, must be slipping a bit. Why does this man want a double identity. You should know that is this to hide the other identity . Santoro is collaborating for our cause. If this guy is hiding something he wants to do business with Lactos losing. He must want to end up with the Elizalde business. And we are going to help him do it. Do you understand? She says yes, perfectly.

One more thing, Aurora is the girlfriend of Santiago Elizalde, Barbara says. Artemio barely moves, Barbi wants to know how she got the handkerchief with her initials. The handkerchief has no significance, Artemio supposes she came by it from one of the servants who bought it or stole it, She asks further, Then where is Aurora? I need to know.
***
This young one is a complete stranger for you and she will remain that. Who is Aurora. where does she come from. This is none of your business. Hasta pronto, Rebeca. and Artemio leaves the room.

The drinks and toasting proceed. Now we are partners (socios) . The consolidation of this deal was entirely due to Franco, He has perfect confidence in you, says Esteve while CamilHo sneaks unsubtle looks out the window. Now your company can to keep its promises and pay its debts. Esteve looks forward to seeing the talent and vision of Franco Santoro on the new Board of Directors (Junta Directiva). Anibal double swallows his drink, What? Well that was the main condition that our President insisted on, says Esteve. Even Camil seems surprised, He is asking for a place in the Board? Yes or we would dissolve the agreement and take back the money, Esteve assures them. In unison, they all slug down more whiskey fast.

Venus is crying about her fears for her fallen comrades as a happier than ever Silvestre pats her lovely silky arm. Martina comes in and the girls hug. Papa says better she wasn't still there working at the cantina or my Martina would be flying now.

Esteve says, your majesty prepare to sit on your Elizalde throne. They are hugely pleased with the dropped jaws of the Elizalde brothers and realizing the seat on the board was same demand exactly that Eduardo said to Barbara was an absolute condition.
****

Camilo make Anibal stop the car. Who's is going to scream (grito) to the heavens, Barbara?. Camilo jumps out saying, I see a blacksmith (herrero) that just changed the horseshoes (herraduras). By this he figures out that Jacinto had a hand in the disappearance of Papa's car and he thinks he can do something threatening.

Venus worries about the 3 unidentified bodies . Silvestre says they are safe at least. Venus tells them that Jairo was on the point of pimping out the country girl (campesina), Aurora.

Jacinto is arguing about the risk he has taken with Margarita, who finally says she has faith in him. He says am I playing along with the Gringo. Suddenly, It is Camilo Elizalde at the door with his famous smirk, but Jacinto has a few aces up his sleeve too. [Ed note, did Esteve make Jacinto take Gonzo's car or just to make him stand up to Camilho who will have to admit to himself that people know he broke into Franco's and is now at risk of having burgled the house of his chief benefactor who is the savior of his family??]

Next: Fernando hears from Damian while in Eduardo's office and rushes out. Eduardo suspects who it is and decides to follow Fernanda, where he sees the clandestine meeting in the dark in what looks like the dryice forest left over from FELS.

Thanks for the good recap Cheryl. I wonder what became of Colomba and Yesenia. I hope they were not among the casualties.

Now I just have to ask what the heck Steve was wearing? What is up with the pink chuck taylors and tight pants with pink sweat shirt? Is he channeling Miley Cyrus or Lola Valente? Lol.

Camilo And Anibal ought to be shot behind the head. Shameless siblings of Fernanda. ED/FR would not want these fools as future brothers in law. I really liked the Martina, Venus Reunion. Perhaps she will take up residence at Las Tunas. Maybe Steve will hook up with her.

There will be a lot of preparations done for the upcoming party at Las Animas. And they will need all the help they can get.

I guess Aurora had to go home one last time for a sentimental journey. And to pack up the rest of her belongings. If Santiago wont take her back, she will have to stay at Las Animas with Gardenia and Venus. Not bad for the harem build up.....Methinks Franco Santoro is a lucky guy with all the babes running around.

And on we go on the countdown to Episode 100.

Ibarramedia

Wonderful recap, Comadre Cheryl! Yes, Lili is just barely above coma level. Seems like she should be a little better, but then I forgot, it's only been a few telenovela days. I suppose she must have a lot of meds in her system. Dr. Crazy is out of the way for a while with a little snooze- hee hee.

It seems like Artemio is going to be helping Ed/Fr for now, because he thinks to do so would damage the Elizaldes.

Ed/Fr and Esteve still don't seem that concerned that Gardenia was almost killed again. She has had her life threatened if she opens her mouth - and we knew she couldn't keep it shut...
jb

Thanks , Cheryl, for the giggles with my Cheerios. So,,,there are a bunch of Jesus Lopez Lopezs running around Mexico. Who knew ? It would be great for Fr/ed is one of them was a criminal kingpin whom Art feared. I see Slyvestre's Home for Wayward Girls in the future. Dr. Ono seems to have had a nervous breakdown. Esteve's wardrobe is puzzling. Is that supposed to be typical gringo style ? And so go the days of their lives. Will Fr/ed and Fern EVER do the deed ? ...I need more than the opening credits.

Thanks for the recap Cheryl. When they were threatening Gardenia with the snake again I was saying tell them anything! Just don't let them let the snake out again. Ewwww I hate snakes.

Anibal's face when he was told that Fr/Ed would be on the Board--Priceless. Ha!

I'm really starting to like Esteve. He just loves playing the game!

Cheryl, thanks for yet another excellent recap. Ya gotta love Gardenia. Carpio's frustration with her was hilarious. She handled the situation perfectly, and I laughed out loud when Carpio cautioned her to keep her mouth shut. Yeah sure. I was even a little put out with Esteve for chiding her. Let's see what kind of snake charmer you are, Gringuito. As for Eddie, saying that they will find a safe place for Gardenia first thing...tomorrow reminded me of my Spanish tutor(from Guadalajara) pointing out a favorite Mexican dictum,"carpe mañana".

Carlos

That's funny Carlos. And so true I bet.

Thanks Cheryl, excellent recap. I'm glad Martina didn't go flying, well...permanently that is. I also noticed how Silvestre enjoyed patting her pretty arm. Down boy!

Esteve's outfit made me laugh. He's not exactly VP-looking, the Elizalde boys looked a little confused. Must be the way those crazy gringos dress.

Carpio and pal are extremely stupid and complete followers. I loved how Gardenia sucked them in with her load of bull story. I felt sorry for the snake being trapped in the car with shrieking Gardenia.

-Sylvia, also a snake lover although rattlesnakes get a wide berth

Thank you, Cheryl, another excellent recap. As usual, you filled in a couple items I didn't completely understand.

See, all, Gardenia did just fine in the face of fire (or snakes). Coming up with a believable lie to save her hide, even if she did give up part of the truth. She really had Carpio exasperated, it was a funny, intense scene. Plus, she gained a very important piece of info- Artemio Bravo. I sure hope that they can find a safe place for her-SOON! I also hope that she comes clean about the letters- what are the chances?

I also loved the scene with Babs and Ciggy. She seemed at a bit out of her normal character, asking those stupid questions, and showing weakness to her boss. Interesting that he chose to leave the room, instead of throwing her out, as is usual.
Finally- looks like a showdown between Cad and Jacinto. Cad might be pissed, but Jacinto has years of built up rage, newly found confidence and pwoer, and support of Marg, Eddy, and Esteve. It should be interesting...

When Gardenia was trying to think up a name it reminded me of that old Saturday Night Live sketch where the guy would say something and then pause and then say, yeah, that's the ticket.

Jesus Lopez, yeah, Lopez, that's the ticket. What kind of name is Jesus Lopez Lopez?

Thanks for the great recap Cheryl. Ol' Silvestre, "You have nothing to worry about, your father got a lot healthier " ... "Silvestre pats her lovely silky arm. " Yep, I would say he is looking quite healthy and happy right now. :) And Venus at the church, didn't know who that was at first, not expecting her there.

I'm thinking now that Art will call up Dominga to see how things are going and Aurora Boreallofus will answer .. and put him to sleep. :)

All hail our heroine Denia! See, she's not all bad. Somewhat surprising they let her go. I guess they want to keep her around for future torture practice in case Jesus L L is not the real name.

Hey, we had a Doctor O sighting, been quite awhile. He is looking a little out of it lately.

Esteve answers the door quite a bit. Doesn't seem right to have your guest always answering your door. Yes, that is quite an unusual executive look he has. Cad and Ani didn't seem to like the thought of Franco on the board, minor detail left out by Barb.
So now that Art has a name, he's going to help Franco take over GruposL? I think you would want a little more information before deciding to help him out.

JeffMN

Hah, Indiana Connie: "Ewwww I hate snakes." I think you need to take your bullwhip after Cad. Hopefully Jacinto will handle him easily tonight.

When Denia was going on and on, I thought they just might plug her to put everyone out of their misery. They would tell Art, we couldn't get anything out her and had to kill her. After that display, they would have to know she would be hard pressed to keep a secret, but they still let her go.

JeffMN

I'd love to take a bullwhip to Cad! I'd like nothing better than to pop him in his little pinchy-mouthed orange face.

Great picture on your profile Molly by the way! You get the feeling he's looking right at you.

Thanks for the great recap, Cheryl and the vocab too.

Nanda knows Barb is a big fibber now. When Gonzo told her Fr/Ed made the call to Barb to set up the meeting, little did he know that Fern was there when Barb made the call herself to Fr/Ed. Looks like Nanda wanted to pursue the topic but was sidelined but she really will have her antennae up now. GinCA

Good morning amigos. Thanks for the support. Ibarramedia, Steve is not only wearing odd clothes, does this say something of the Mexican view of Gringo 's lack of fashion? Also Jeff mentions that our Vice President does answer the door a lot. But then Gardenia is always running off getting into trouble with thugs and snakes, and Jacinto is out on the riding arena or in the barn (where did that fabulous horse go anyway) so Esteve seems like the only one that stays home. At least Anibal registers that it is odd that the important PM guy is acting oddly. I personally loved his little singing to his rental car.

JB you point out some curious details about the side characters. They are keeping Lili too dopey, but maybe that is realistic as you say after years of heavy drugging. Wasn't Dr. matamentos goofy in his jammies (does this show have an obsession with little kid jammies). I kind of miss his campy menacing, but as Eduardo points out, now he can't menace Lili so she is safer.

Susanlynn, won't it be a hoot if Jesus Lopez Lopez turns out to be someone really scary when Artemio looks him up on Facebook or whereever.

Cheryl: Thanks for the recap.

We now have Gardenia around for another to sob, sigh and cry. I thought the shopping bag left on the road was going to mean something. Maybe it will, or maybe it was just something else to keep us off balance.

Aurora did return to Case Dominga. Now what?

Barb keeps asking about Aurora as if she senses something. I still can't buy into her feeling anything for anybody. She's like an animal who gives birth and then eats her young.

Connie, I have been thinking about you and I am sending you warmest thoughts and prayers for the safety of your wonderful son. The Today show did a poignant segment on a young soldier and his young family who miss him so much. Your pictures make you look way too young to have a grown son. Best wishes to all of your family.

Hi everyone .. I'm a tad confused about what's going on with the good doc. Why is he in bed comatose?

DDave, it seems like the relationship between Artemio and Barbinator is shifting greatly. I don't know if she will get her claws out to sink into Artemio or the writers are just trying to paint her with a softer side. But Pasofino put it very graphically, she does seem more like someone who would eat her young. I keep waiting for her to do something dreadful to Abora. I don't think Barbi can be rehabilitated but the longing for her spawn does give her some depth.

Thanks Cheryl. It's been quite a week. He instant messaged me this morning saying he arrived safely. They can't tell you too much though. Trying to keep busy and not think about it. I appreciate everybody's thoughts and prayers. You always try to come up with motherly words of wisdom for them but instead I said, if it comes down to making a choice between you and them, you be sure that they are the ones who don't go home. (I'm awful, I know.)

Anon at 11:36, The nurses explanation indicated that he is having a breakdown and is taking a self imposed sleep cure to relieve his stress. I for one don't know why he didn't disappear fast, but with Barbi so preoccupied with messing up other people's lives, he doesn't really have such a bad job. Ciro's family seems to have shifted their focus on to Lili or whoever might have the patent royalty fortune. The asylum reminds me of McLean's in the Boston area. It is such a beautiful park like setting and has such beautiful buildings, why would anyone ever want to leave.

I missed Dr. O! I must have been in the kitchen cooking or something.

Sylvia, I am thinking more about rattlesnakes in this season too. I came across a huge one two summers ago with Willa and three other dogs. My friend herded the dogs around the absolutely huge rattler lying languidly on the path on the say up the Sandia foothills. I stayed behind to get pictures but 2 of the 3 were out of focus, I guess i was more alarmed than I was letting on. At least the dogs ignored it, they would much rather chase rabbits, squirrels or lizards who move inviting a good run.

Thanks Cheryl, I always look forward to your recaps and I am never disappointed. I love your obvious writing skills and talent disguised as snark. You know how to tease "we don't get to see the snake". I couldn't help but laugh at that. LMAO at "Liliana is doing well. (Barely above coma level but it's all relative, no)".
Connie, your remark "if it comes down to making a choice between you and them, you be sure that they are the ones who don't go home", is right on the money. There's a marine corps saying "take no prisioners". It means the same thing.

Babs would have eaten her young, if they hadn't been separated at birth, same as Crabiela Elizondo/Root.

Dr. Matamentes is out b/c he got a bigger flask, and then drained it.

Thanks for the recap, Cheryl.

Thought it was funny when Gardenia said to Carpio (you're good Christians, right?). Yeah, sure. BTW, does she actually have kids, or was that made up?

These days, just about every member of the Elizalde family is somewhat clueless. We already had Gonzo, but Anibal and Camilho are looking foolish, Santi's not too wise, and even Barbara is looking befuddled. Artemio is also acting somewhat stupidly. The only person (besides Fr/Ed and Esteve) who seems to have any sense is Fernanda, who's doing an excellent job putting up with her idiot family.

I also told him that nothing better happen to him over there because I would go over there and hunt down every single one of those little bastards myself.

Thanks for the recap, Cheryl. You were entertaining as always.

Steve was singing a slightly butchered version of 'You're My Little Choochy Face' from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' when he was messing around with the new rental car. And speaking of random, someone needs to fire the costume designer. Seems they are choosing one of the younger males each week to debut a bizzare or outdated clothing item on, just to see if we are paying attention. And while I realize that the turtlnecks with everything look on Fernanda is likely subtle character definement, it looks extremely awkward and unflattering.
-Liliana

I kept thinking to myself, "wait til Martina sees that Venus is alive. She'll freak out". But then her reaction was so lackluster. If you thought your friend was blown up in a ho factory and then she shows up alive and well wouldn't you show a little more enthusiasm?

Maybe they had to do the scene over and over and they were tired?

~Caborita

Who cleaned Dominga's house?

Was Camilo looking for the hole he cut in the window?

Will the real Franco Santoro & Jésus López López please stand up?

That wasn't just any serpiente that pobre Gardenia was threatened with,
it was a cascabel = rattlesnake. Such a nice word cascabel.

I was able to jot down a few things for our vocabulary list

mejor postor = highest bidder
said by scumbag Jairo talking about Aurora.

Quién mal anda, mal acaba = you deserve what you get
said by Silvestre talking about the scumbag Jairo.

¿manco cojo o qué? Jacinto said this to Margarita, talking about himself & what's happening with Camilo. I could only find a literal translation.
useless, weak or what?

Anyone have a better translation?

Tks Cheryl.

Carlos, I’m adopting carpe mañana as my motto. Love it!

Cheryl, I found Jesus Lopez on FaceBook (I guess they only take a first and last name. Looks like a sweet kid to me. I love cascabel = rattlesnake!

--Beth

Cheryl, your recap was entertaining as usual but your title was priceless. Have to say I am enjoying this TN much more than others that seem to dragggg. I think we are all in agreement about Esteve's horrible clothes especially since Fr/ed is always looking so spiffy, striped sweater and all. And I really agree with whomever said that maybe it's the Mexican mind-set thinking about what the silly Americanos wear....

MEPS in AZ

I think too there was something amiss with the Venus, Martina scene. Martina is out in the shed(?) rattling rakes or something and then out walks Venus and it's oh, ho-hum, how are you.

Thank you for the recap, Cheryl! ”…..letting us know she can still grab tragedy out of the mouth of salvation. Abora tears.” That was the best line of your recap. Juan lines. Sofi lines. Abora tears.

If only Dr. Cuteguy could see Martina mud wrestle and kick ass. Sighs, indeed!

I wonder if JLL is the name of Gardenias hubby who abandoned her & the chiquillos.

I don't think Denia has any kids Hombre. No way could that be as I think she has been waiting for Ed to return all of these years.

I think Abora cleaned the place before she left. She probably cleaned it, snuck out, and Dominga took off after her before getting it too dirty? You would think Santi would think to go back to that place to try and find her.

JeffMN

Manco means one-armed, or often: disabled. Cojo means the same sort of thing with the legs. A person who is a cojo walks with a limp.

I agree that Denia was making up the kids and husband who deserted her to try to gain sympathy.

I think Barbara is showing some maternal feelings for Aurora. There were lots of fixed stares at her. Sort of the llamada de sangre, call of the blood. But Ciggie Man handled it really badly. He should be more sympathetic and make up some more convincing stuff about Aurora to throw Babs off the scent.

No reason to think that Denia has criaturas. Like Jeff said, she's been waiting for Eddy's return. Also, remember, these guys are supposed to be very young adults, so any kids she would have would be quite young, and need more care than she has had time for, despite the days off from las Animas. It was all a lie to convince the "cristianos" to let her go unharmed.
You would think that Santi would think to go to Purificacion to look for Abora, if he wanted to find her, also like Jeff said. Why go back to the place that he met her, only to grovel in self pity.

Good point, Novelera, about Ciggy's handling of the situation with Babs. Machiavelli Norton would know how to turn that apparent situation to his favor. Ciggy doesn't aprreciate how close Babs is to mutiny.

In typical bully fashion, Camilo only abuses those who are powerless to fight back - women, servants, and animals. He'd beat up small children too, if he found any. Notice he's a smart-aleck with those of equal or greater power, but NEVER abusive. He chooses his victims carefully.

That's why he still has all his teeth. It's why nobody has pulverized him yet. From day one, we've been wishing someone would slam that smirk off his face - his dad, or brother, or Ed, or anyone. But they won't because he doesn't mess with them.

All the better for Jacinto. Cad thinks Jacinto is still his victim, so he will keep bullying him. But Jacinto is no longer powerless. The bully will have his first experience with a victim fighting back. And at some point, I predict Jacinto will knock him from here to Kingdom Come.

I agree with Jeff and others here that Gardenia has never married and does not have any kids. I think once the blather started to flow after she was relieved that she had dreamed up a cover name for her beloved Edu that Carpio seemed to believe, she just kept letting it flow since her next problem was if she was going to live instead of be killed by snake bite or strangled she might be abused as the B in B went on their way. In an odd way I felt like Carpio was almost laughing in the choking scenes and he has incredible light in his eyes for a bad guy. I think all three must have had some good laughs filming that scene.

Thanks Melissa & Cheryl! I missed 2 nights & man, do I hate when that happens.

DD (Devilish Denia or her cup size...take your pick) sure knows how to turn it on. Sounds like the snake may have been more freaked out by her histrionics than she was by its rattle. But, she lies like a pro, gotta give her that.

The Elizalde men are quite the bunch of eunuchs, aren't they? Jeesh, grow a set, boys & man up.

Tuning in tonight...get out of my way!!!!! MEPS deprivation makes a gal muy loco!

Maggarita
:-)

I thought Carpio was kind of scary! He must be doing a good job then. :-}

I can never remember Carpio's name. Ever since someone mentioned his resemblance to Lamont Sanford, I think of him as Lamont. I guess that means his friend is Rollo?

Perhaps Mexicans believe that in the US, dressing ultra-casually is a sign of prosperity. :-) Or maybe it's another symbol of his gringolity (I'm pretty sure I just coined that term). It's better than having him walk around with a catcher's mitt wherever he goes, I guess, but I do wish they'd bag that hairdo. We get it! He's not from Mexico! I'm convinced! Stop trying!!!

Cheryl = I also thought Carpio's facial expressions looked more like something from a comedy with Richard Pryor? I think you're right . . . may be he was trying to restrain a full outburst of laughter.

What is Steve wearing and what is Steve singing?!? I'm sorry, but if they are trying to make Steve into a 20-something executive or just a 20-something rich son of an executive, why are they dressing him like a 12-year-old hipster? And then the singing - "my little coochey" whatever! Come on!

Sometimes I feel like they are just making fun of gringos - I can't entirely blame them, but it's a little painful to watch at times. I am enjoying the emergence of Jacinto - standing up for himself after all these years.

Laura, I think you may have a direct hit on the motivation. I too think they like to make fun of gringos and therefore make Esteve do some really silly things. The couchy song is so old it really does not go with the adolescent clothes styles. I really like Esteve though so I am trying to overlook their silliness.
