MEPS Monday June 1 - 75th episode I believe. Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.

At the breakfast table, in her makeup that is careful to look like not wearing makeup, Barbara rudely tells Tomasa to get the hell out. She then says to herself that Artemio Bravo must be behind Aurora leaving, as she smashes up an egg.

Artemio tells his two henchmen to find Gardenia, when they have her, then go find Padre Bosco. They leave. Artemio calls Barbara and tells her to nix any business between Grupo Lactos and Powermilk. She wants to know if he has something to do with Aurora leaving town again and he tells her to shut it and mind her own beeswax.

Fr/Ed shows Fernanda her father’s car, she is full of shame. He says Camilo is an adult, she doesn’t have to feel responsible for him. She tells him how Barbara claimed it was stolen from some other place, she thinks everyone at her house is up to no good.

Barbara, in an uncharacteristic panic, tries to knock down the door to Santiago’s room to find Aurora and yells that she knows that Santiago has that “muchachita” hidden in there. Santiago opens the door and says “AURORA! HER NAME IS AURORA!” Hey Santiago, I thought you didn’t care?

Silvestre, looking quite healthy now, is walking past the burnt out cantina with some groceries. He joins the crowd of people trying to see what’s going on. Lots of corpses in body bags, full emergency response in progress here. Ambulances, fire truck, police, even what looks like a CSI crew (yeah right in novelaland).

Barbara has finally finished breakfast, she calls Fr/Ed and says she wants to meet him later at the Equestrian club. That place just looks like the track to me, nothing so fancy as a ‘club’.

Downstairs, Camilo tells Barbara that he saw tire tracks from his car, but they just ended like the car was lifted away by helicopter. She tells him to shut up and forget the whole thing before he causes a bigger problem, he shouldn’t have gone back there. He reminds her that if something happens and he goes down, he is taking her down with him.

Vladimir brings a bouquet of flowers to another flower, Florecita, at the front desk. When she leaves to find a vase for them, he snoops around her desk, pretending to use the phone. He sees some binder that looks like it’s full of important stuff. When she comes back he asks when she goes to lunch, she thinks he’s asking her out and is waaaay too excited by the prospect since Vlad is so creepy. He wasn’t, he wanted to know when her desk would be unoccupied, but he goes with the flow. Flor gets even more excited, it’s almost uncomfortable to watch. Does she go for the greasy slimy type? She didn’t get this excited when Fr/Ed first showed up.

Gardenia makes Esteve some pozole (yum – we actually have eaten that as Christmas dinner the last two years, both the Mexican and the gringo sides of the family can’t get enough of it). She proceeds to gripe about Fernanda, wishing Damian would return so she’d get back to him and leave Eduardo alone for her. Yeah right.

Fernanda complains about numerous things, then recalls that Soledad once told her that problems are cowards, that’s why they never arrive alone. How true! I liked that so I made a special point of writing it down. It doesn’t help when those problems arrive, but I like how it sounds. She says for instance right now so many problems are coming together, just like when her mother died, Liliana got committed, etc, way back when. They talk some more about Soledad, both getting emotional.

Silvestre announces that breakfast is ready, back at his house, and a fantastic pair of legs come out of the other room, turns out to be Venus. Unfortunately she is still wearing her cantina clown makeup, I am ready to see this actress look a little more classy to properly display her hotness. It’s in there, just hidden behind the hooker outfit. Aurora is there too, it turns out. Silvestre tells them what he saw at the cantina, then that he was able to verify that Jairo was one of the people killed. So at least nobody will be chasing them. They also have some other dead and wounded that haven’t been identified. Aurora immediately says she’s going there. God I hate her. I hate her so much. She hasn’t done anything but drag down every scene she has been in. She is like Bella from Twilight – it’s like the writer(s) keep trying to outdo themselves in every scene to see what horribly disastrous and self-destructive decision she can make THIS time. I really would not be sad to see her disappear, except then we have to have scenes with Santiago crying, which aren’t any better. Sigh.

Fernanda continues to whine about feeling alone, she also feels angry about her loneliness. Fr/Ed, because he wants a piece of that, calmly listens and comforts her. She is falling for it, because she says Fr/Ed is the only one who understands her.

Aurora finds some people at the cantina that confirm that Dominga died in the explosion. I was excited for a second because now we can end the endless back and forth for Aurora between Santiago and Dominga, but then I realized that Aurora would continue to furrow her brow and be a huge whiny pain in the butt one way or another.

Fr/Ed is about to plant a kiss on Fernanda when she spots Jacinto arriving, breaking the clinch. Fernanda says goodbye and as usual, doesn’t want Fr/Ed to walk her out. As she leaves Fr/Ed gives Jacinto the “dude you are cockblocking me” look and Jacinto gives him back the “dude I didn’t know!” look. Fr/Ed realizes he didn’t intend to have bad timing and laughs. Fern sits in her car and daydreams about Fr/Ed. She stops herself, saying that he is the boyfriend of her best friend. FINALLY! I have been waiting for someone to raise this point forever. Since the last time they were locking lips down by the river. I thought she just forgot, this is the first time she seems to have remembered. Poor Erika, she sees him once every two weeks for like five minutes at his house as he is on his way out, and she is convinced they are getting married.

Jacinto tells Fr/Ed all about the cantina bomb and that Jairo is dead.

Venus tells Silvestre the story of how they escaped, they were sneaking out the back way when the bomb went off. We see a flashback with some ragdolls comically flying through the air, supposing to be the two ladies.

Aurora goes to church and prays for Dominga. Whatever.

Santiago paints and broods.

Jacinto tells Fr/Ed and Esteve how he caught Camilo snooping around earlier and scared him off. He is obviously pleased to not have to kiss Camilo’s ass any longer. Hell yeah I would be too, after all this time.

In his office, Vlad talks to Damian on the phone. Fern arrives and he hangs up. She gives him the third degree about Damian, he is a horrible liar but she gets nothing out of him. She wants him to hunt Damian down, she’ll even pay.

Aurora goes to confession, but we don’t hear the details. I’m sure she’s confessing that she had to lie to Santiago, but she should be confessing to her endless stupid decisions. “Father I have continually done the most backward and idiotic thing I could possibly do in all situations, in spite of clear evidence of what the proper choices should have been.” Penance? A slap in the face every time she scrunches up her eyebrows, that is always the first sign of something ridiculous on the way.

Tomasa is now the one beating down Santiago’s door, he tells her to piss off but she finally says something about Dominga dying so he opens the door. He obviously wants to now go find Aurora, who he claims to not care about any more.

In Fr/Ed’s office, he, Jacinto, and Esteve discuss Gonzalo’s car. If Camilo happens to find it, Jacinto is supposed to say it just appeared there from nowhere. Fr/Ed tells Jacinto that he will start paying back to Camilo what he deserves. I vote for asskicking. Fr/Ed leaves to get to his meeting with Barbara.

Santiago runs outside, Fern is just getting home, he throws her back in the car to take him to town to see the cantina and look for Aurora.

Florecita swoons over Vladimir again later on, I don’t get it but whatever. I guess she is just desperate. He manages to get her to leave to get him coffee, he steals the binder that he saw there earlier and leaves the reception area.

Some engineer is telling Anibal by phone that they need money NOW or they will halt construction/repairs or something. Anibal demands to have a couple hours to get the money before they give up. Vladimir comes in and says he found some irregularities in Pris’s accounts and wants to talk about them. Anibal thought bubbles that he has to do something, he doesn’t want to look like a thief in front of his family with this Priscilla account information, he makes up some excuse to put Vlad off for a short while. Vlad changes speed and drops his lie, to start the rumor, that Flor is selling company secrets to their rival company.

Upon finding out that some victims are unidentified, Santiago is sure that one of the unknown dead is Aurora. Turns out Aurora is only 20 feet away, getting on a bus. Where is she headed, back to Hacienda Elizalde?

Artemio Bravo’s henchmen spy on Gardenia outside Las Animas using binoculars. Even from a distance her hips move the right way when she walks.

At the racetrack, Barb is on the phone when Fr/Ed arrives, he figures out right away that she isn’t really on a phone call, she is pretending to be a hardass with someone to keep Fr/Ed on his toes. He doesn’t buy any of it, so it was a waste.

Gardenia is walking down the road, the bad guy pull up and the driver distracts her while the other sneaks up on her and grabs her. They drive off, leaving her tote bag in the street. Do we know what’s inside it? The music and camera made it seem like it was important.

Barb finally gets off her fake phone call and tells Fr/Ed “deal’s off”.

Tomorrow – Fr/Ed shows Barbara how he transferred the money she asked for to Rebecca Sanchez’s account. Gardenia looks lovely even in captivity, again.

Thanks, Ferro. Good title. I guess Flor was so excited about Vlad because he brought her roses. If Fr/ed had brought her a bouquet, she probably would have flown around the room and exploded. Was that binder that Vlad put under his jacket labeled '' Important Stuff?'' I thought the breakfast scene of Babs attacking that poor , defenseless softboiled egg was a riot. Fern is falling for Fr/ed. [Say that ten times fast.]

Thank you Ferro, will read later, off to work but just wanted to emote: the power differential has really shifted: Santi snatching Babs around, for a second I was like, who is this Santi's dragging? then on the same day Cadmil-ho wrenches her arm and threatens her!

Question: did I miss something? I didn't think Babs knew that Ciggie was involved in the imprisonment of Aurora?

Another question: Did Aurora see Santi weeping inconsolably at the scene of the blast and then tip aboard the bus without saying anything? Does she not realize her "reason" for leaving Santi was no more? Why would she not run to. ..oh, nevermind.

Y Gardamn-ya: looks like she's either going to spill her guts or get away at the nick of time, save Eddie's secret and thus feel even more deserving of his love having twice risked her life to save him.

On to more pleasant things. Luuved Nanda's swooning in the car after almost kissing Eddie. Luuved Eddie and Jacinto's exchange after Jacinto interrupted what was sure to be a smoking kiss! Dang!

Finally: if Venus and Aurora can look that good after almost having their tuschies blown off, man! the guys are in for more real eye candy!

Khalilah

Thanks Ferro. Very snarky. I missed some near the end because my son called. He ships out for Afghanistan this morning. :(

Dominga is dead! Oh no, how will we survive...(just kidding). Where was Abora going? Back to her little town? Back to Santi? Snore.....Who cares?

Did you see Fr/Ed smirk when Babs was on the phone? That was pretty funny.

Will Cadmil-Ho put the smack down on his stepmom? I thought he was going to smack her for sure.

Great stuff, Ferro! Poor Denia can't buy a break. What are the odds of her getting kidnapped twice in two days? Or is it three? //As for the BBQ, at least we've been spared the old amnesia plotline. My guess is Aurora has decided to go back to the hacienda and find her inner Barbie. No reason not to continue the Big Lie now that Dumbinga has gone on to that big pigpen in the sky and no longer threatens a major scandal for Abora and Santi.//Babs now has a tiger by the tail with Cad in the know. Wonder how she will manage to get him back into his cage.

Ferro: Thanks for the great recap and filling in parts that I missed.

As to Gardenia, I couldn't believe she'd be sauntering along a deserted road after her close call with Jairo and Lucio. I'd have thought she'd never walk alone again.

My guess is that Aurora is going back to Dominga's house to search for more evidence of her mother's identity. Just a guess. As you noted, Aurora makes one bad decision after another so, why go to the Elizalde hacienda where she could get some real help from someone who loves her. I expect that Santiago will find out tonight that she is not among the bombing victims.

Artemio's little band of bad asses remind of a group of Manchurian Candidates. They get a call from him and march to a target.

Ferro: great job! Loved the CSI reference, which is what came to my mind last night. Another spinoff: CSI Copetonas. I smell a Nielsen winner there--boobs, booze & dead bodies.

Pobrecita Abora. She certainly didn't inherit any of Babs' brain cells...but I agree. She's annoying. Slofia's long lost hermana, methinks. [insert melodramatic sobs here]

CamilHo (I've actually renamed him NaranHo for obvious reasons) is such a scum but it is fun to see him foil Babs evil machinations. Maybe Ciggie will blow him up too. Then we in viewerville can cheer & he can join Dominatrix in TN hell.

Fr/Ed is just so fine. Le sigh.

Maggarita
:-P

Connie: a prayer for your son's safe return and one for you too. Peace.

Great recap, good show.

I missed the fact that Babs was making a "pretend" call, but Fr/Ed did have that, I know what you're up to look.

The Mex paramedics are SEMEFO, Servicio Médico Forense.

Fr/Ed didn't bring Flor flowers, he didn't need to. She fell apart at the 1st smile.

You all were talking about Jacinto giving Camilo a leg up on the horse & I envisioned up & over to the other side into the dirt. I amuse myself that way.

Aurora the llorona was praying to the virgencita for Dominga's alma.

Khalilah, you're thinking logically again, that's a big no no. Aurora will return to bore us again.

I finished watching Amor Real last night. I couldn't understand why were at the end, since I had another disc, it is just about the show, bloopers, Carla Estrada, etc.
I believe it's a good TN but it was so badly butchered that it lacked continuity. You were always trying to figure out, how did we get to this point? I got it from Amazon, so I suggest you go elsewhere if you want to buy it.
I'm going to try & fill in the gaps on you-tube.

Thanks Ferro, I like your voice of reason in such a unreasonable world of MEPS.

I enjoyed seeing Barbie get some push back from Santiago and Cadmil-ho. I want to slap her every time she insults the 'hired' help. Of course it's always when no one else is around to witness her malice.

Abora is too boring and stupid to watch, I have to FF. Are we sure Jairo and Dominga are dead? Where's the proof? There was no id, unless Dominga already had fingerprints on record...nevermind.

The focus on Gardenia's shopping bag: I think the bag Gardenia dropped has a grocery list in it. They'll start looking for her and remember that her life was in danger. Duh! Then the bag will confirm it was Gardenia...
jb

Thanks Maggarita. He was nervous and excited at the same time. They've been training for this mission for the last year. At least he's a sniper and not a gunner that has to stand up in the armored car thing.

I'd sure like a little bell like the one Babs has on the table. Nobody would come running though so that takes some of the fun out of it.

Poor Flor. That whole thing made me mad. He's leading her on and she was already calling him Vladi. I thought I was going to throw up.

I forgot to mention earlier that I thought Vlad has now become a baddie and is on my list of the hopeless. Flor will be devastated and broke, if not in jail, by the time he and AnyBalls get through with her.

Great. funny recap Ferro. I'm so disappointed in Vlad. Last week I was taking up for him, pointing out how sweetly innocent and basically honest he is and now he goes out and ruins it by treating Flor like this. A pox on him.

Like jb I'm a bit skeptical about the actual demise of Dominga and Jairo. I say,"show me the bodies,or chicharones as the case may be.

Poor Gardenia. She needs to start packing and carrying a little kidnap me bag with toiletries and a change of panties. I do hope she gets to rough up Carpio a bit before she's rescued.

Carlos

Thank you Ferro for the recap and for the 'FINALLY'. I been dogging that bone for awhile. She even reprimanded Franco in the past solely because she is legally married, a SELFish reason. Fernanda is finally thinking of her BFF.

Awesome recap Chris. I always enjoy how you go straight for the jugular. Love the title!

Carlos, you are so bad, chicharrones indeed!

I had to roll my eyes when I heard Abore-a say she was going to Dominga. She's so effin ridiculous not sympathetic at all -- just plain annoying.

I had a good laugh when Santiago "threw" La Hiena when they went into his room.

I think that if Abore-a shows up at the Hacienda before Santiago arrives, and La Hiena is there to greet her, there may be some more Abore-a drama.

~Caborita

Sylvia, I credit rsk with calling Dominga a chicheron yesterday, as did Venus last night.

Carlos

I couldn't believe the chicharrones I saw in Mexico. I'm used to a little bag of pig skins that look similar to potato chips. In Mex they are huge, like a whole side of the pig.

Those are so gross! I don't know how people eat them.

Oh Connie, chicharones are incredibly tasty. I have a pt. who sells stuff at flea markets, and for a time she would bring me bags of freshly made chincharones cooked on the spot in a huge pot, probably much like those described by Variopinta. Unfortunately the porkskin lady doesn't go to the flea markets anymore. I would love some right now.

Carlos

Thanks for the recap and good snark, Chris.

If we in Viewerville could see Vlad hiding that notebook under his suit jacket, why-oh-why didn’t Anibal and Flor notice it??? Hel-lo?!?!? I really must tighten my telenovela beanie hat.

I enjoyed watching Camilo talk back to Babs in the same way he treats all women. Maybe she’ll be his comeuppance.

I’m so glad Silvestre finally got new glasses and can see.

During the post-bomb flashback scene, I thought the camera lingered a little too long as it scanned the bodies of Venus and Aurora. Gratuitous sex-kitten poses, if you ask me. Ack. I wouldn't complain, though, if it did the same to FrEd as he took a shower, or went swimming. ;-)

Connie - hugs and prayers for you and your son.

Ferro, fine 'cap, as usual. I missed the fisrt 20 mins, so will have to youtube it to catch those great-sounding scenes. I did catch the explosion- with the rag dolls, que divertido!

Jairo AND Dominga both dead? Puede ser? And where is Abora going? That didn't really look like a bus for general transportation- it was short and unmarked as to destination. Maybe that's- it a short trip to nowhere.

Seems like the women of this TN are really getting the shaft; Flor, wrongfully accused of misdeeds, now being used; Error- delusional nitwit; Lili, enough said; Tomasa, please, slash Babs' throat; Gardenia, twice abducted; Martina, in coukoo's nest hell; Fernanda with all her known and unknown tribulations; Pris, marido from hell, loony "boyfriend", and I'm sure there are some more I could count.

Fernanda is falling. I really Fernanda, and Sylvia, too, she is doing a marvelous job, and lookinhg good doing it. I'm not as much a fashion critic as some.

It was good, finally an old friendship-type laugh between Eddy and Jacinto in the stables. They have been acting like new aquaintances way too much.

Connie- godspeed and good luck to your son. Let's all hope that this mess can end soon.

dorado dave

Thanks everybody. He just sent me an IM saying only 4 more hours. He's getting really nervous now.

Enjoyed the episode and recap.

I thought Abora was going to the place where they took the bodies. And unless I do see a body, I won't believe Dominga is dead. She was just too much fun as a baddie and she hadn't even had to tangle with Artemio yet. Didn't he say he was coming in person to see her? Plus, I'd have loved to see her with Barbara, too.

Can anyone explain why they had to blow up the cantina just to kill Jairo? Why didn't they just wait around and "disappear" him? Talk about overkill.

J.J.

I love how Barbara is losing control over her minions and dupes. Early in the series, she ran the show with complete impunity, and it looked like that would continue until Ed toppled her. Instead, everyone is escaping the grasp of her control.

* Camilo won't quietly surrender to her pressure like Lucio did. One day on the job and already he's being insubordinate.

* Santiago who was always silently uncooperative but absent, is now loudly resistant and present.

* Sweet, gullible (in Barb's eyes) Fernanda realizes Barb is lying to cover something, so Fern is now suspicious of everything Barb says. I loved the breakfast scene where Barb tried to assert her domination in small ways ("Fern will eat breakfast now") and Fern wouldn't let her.

Then add those she already lost:
* Damian
* Dr Demento (though she doesn't know)
* Lili (ditto)
* Lucio
* Artemio, though never her dupe, now seems to intend evil for Aurora who Barb suspects could be her daughter, and Artemio is keeping her in the dark about it.

She probably feels like Nixon with her empire crumbling under her feet as she watches.

JJ, That was plan B.Jairo could have saved us a lot of carnage by coming on down and getting himself killed quietly, but nooo.

Carlos

Mmmm, chicharrones y pozole, mention of two tasty foods, but the chicharrones have to be the crispy thin ones with most of the fat rendered out, and a generous splash of chile.

I just watched what I missed last nite, and rewatched some of what id did see. It was fun watching Santi dragging her into the room. It looks like, maybe, she is concerned about someone other that herself (Abora).

Abora is getting on to a special bus, on the way to the morgue, like I thought while watching last nite. Not sure if she knew that Santi and Fer were there, tho she looked over her shoulder as she climbed tha steps. i thought that Santi and Fer would be going to the morgue, but the youtube avances put that into question. Those original avances are so much different than the ones that are shown here, sometimes we hardly get anything.

Some peope are just so inconsiderate Carlos! I will miss the cow tablecloths.

Thanks, Ferro, for your funny recaps. Great title.

Fr/Ed, Esteve and Jacinto are doing a lousy job of protecting Gardenia. Didn't Fr/Ed just give a speech about protecting her by hiding her somewhere? And she is merrily skipping down the road as if she hadn't been kidnapped a day or so ago. Where's my FELS beanie when I need it!

The white binder under Vlad's jacket was cracking me up too, especially when he was trying to drink his coffee and trying to balance things out. Yes, Vladi was growing on me but not anymore. Damien has been a great mentor.

Connie, I have a nephew who served in Iraq and I am so proud and grateful for his service. The best to your son on his tour of duty and to you too. GinCA

The almost-kiss. To me it really looked like Fernanda initiated it. Of course Ed eagerly met her halfway. Considering how offended she acted at the barn, he didn't dare instigate a kiss. But if she initiated and he facilitated, she couldn't accuse him off being too forward. It would have been quite a step forward for them. And considering that Fern was clearly giving permission, it would have been quite a kiss.

I've been thinking about those letters. If Gardenia wants to keep Ed and Fern apart, she took the wrong box. Consider:

1A. Ed KNOWS Fern wrote. She told him that when she had no reason to lie. So if Ed found her letters it would just be unnecessary proof.

1B. Ed loves Fern completely and unquestioningly. Her letters won't tip any scales. His scale is already tipped.

OTOH:
2A. When Fern discovers Ed lied, she will doubt everything he tells her. His box of letters to her will be proof that he never stopped loving her.

2B. She's going to need some convincing. She gave up on Ed, she married Damian (and is still married to him), and she's going to be really ticked when she discovers the deception. Ed will need every advantage he can find, to win her back. Those letters will go a long way toward melting the ice.

Thanks Ferro for the recap. About Venus, "I am ready to see this actress look a little more classy to properly display her hotness.", the way she was sitting at the table, I think classy is quite a ways off. :)

Is Denia in great danger or not? They (supposedly) did in Dominga and Jairo, so could always surprise and do in Denia.

JeffMN

DDave, the chicharones from the flea market were about 5 in. square, absolutely light as air with a crispiness that simply shattered in the mouth leaving behind a porkiness and ever so slight oily sheen on the tongue. A huge sack would survive only a few minutes at the mercy of the she-wolves that inhabit my office.

Carlos

Paula H, I hadn't thought of it that way. You're right. So what did Gardenia do with Edfr's letters? He didn't find any letters in that box Gardenia turned over to him, right?

Thanks GinCA. I'm very proud of him and so thankful to those who have served and are still serving. The thing that gets me the most is when we are walking through a store like Wal-mart and I have perfect strangers come up to him and want to shake his hand or give him a hug for his service to his country. It makes me cry.

Best of luck to your son, Connie. And to you!

Ferro, thanks so much for the excellent recap and great snark on Aurora! I can't stand her!

Needless to say, I'm canceling the Vlad/Florecita couple prediction I made yesterday!

I believe Aurora is going to the morgue to identify Dominga's remains. That was their van she got into, not a public bus. Hopefully, a quick weepy prayer over Dominga's ashes will be followed with a haircut (to symbolize a change in attitude).

I don't know if there's anything significant about the contents of Gardenia's tote bag - I think the dramatic music was make us wonder if somehow Ed, Steve, and Jac will miss this bright-neon clue that she's been kidnapped rather than run away.

Khalilah: Babs doesn't know specifically that Aurora was imprisoned or that Ciggie was involved, but she must be suspicious. After all, she found her long-lost hankie among the girl's things, and Ciggie was grumpy and evasive when she mentioned it to him.

Chris, simply great recap and comments. You can (and do) find the humor and irony in everything. Gracias.

Interesting to see Barbara being manhandled, particularly by Santiago. Also, she might have picked a better partner in crime than Cad the inept. She better come up with a quick fix for Cad's bungled job as he is more than willing to bring Barbie down with him.

Saying prayers for your son's safe return Connie.

Wonder what will save Gardenia this time.

Diana in MA

Thanks for the recap, Ferro. I've been away and am trying to catch up.

Maggarita: NaranHo!! I love it when I'm sitting here alone at my computer and read something that makes me burst out laughing! That is perfect!!

Variopinta: I started watching telenovelas to learn Spanish but fell in love with the genre, not to mention some of the actors (who coined "telenovio"?? I love it!). Anyway, when I watch the abbreviated versions on DVD I have to watch them with English subtitles or I can't follow the action, and sometimes even then it's hard. I wish they would at least double the length of the DVD versions, but I guess they have to decide what the market would bear in terms of price. I don't have the patience to hunt around on youtube. I'm glad the Spanish stations replay old telenovelas in their entirety during the day. Then I rent the DVD version and watch it at the same time. Right now it's Amarte es mi Pecado.

Jane

Gardenia is obviously incapable of saving herself even when she has perfectly good chances to escape. Let's hope they find her quicker this time. I don't think she's on the pie cart list so we'll just have to see.

I wouldn't weep for Domingo not one second and she got what she deserved. Although it would have been interesting to watch Frick and Frack torture her for a little while. Maybe hold that bottle out in front of her while she's strapped in a chair....and then take it away! She'd be salivating like Pavlov's dog.

Great recap, Ferro. I always appreciate your viewpoint, and it was funny and snarky as always.

GinCA, I agree, Fr/Ed did make a big speech about protecting Gardenia. One day later, kidnapped.

Paula, ITA about the letters. Just to refresh our memories, Ed DID get the ones HE had sent, right?

Since the characters pronounce Vladimir's name with a "B" sound, we may want to consider calling him Badimir or Bladguy after his recent behavior.

Great reap Ferro, I was especially enjoying all the snark directed towards Aurora, the part that literally made me laugh out loud was your whatever after she was praying for Dominga, seriously, is like we are paying our quota of annoyingly stupid female character through her because the writers decided to make Fernanda smarter and stronger than the usual lead in novelas.

And I just wanted to mention that my favorite chicharrón is Castacán, it still has meat in it and you can eat delicious tacos with either salsa ranchera or verde, but I can only eat it once a year or so because every taco is an extra kilo of weight that won't go down easily with excersice.

Jarocha.

Connie, best of luck to your son!!! Will be praying for him! What’s his name?

The chicharrones I ate in Lima were more like grilled pork chunks—not crispy at all—served on a bun—delicioso!

Paula H, good point about the letters.

Homber de Misterio, “Since the characters pronounce Vladimir's name with a "B" sound, we may want to consider calling him Badimir or Bladguy after his recent behavior.” Heeheehee! Can’t help thinking of “bladder” though.

I was at the beach last week and couldn’t get captions on either of the two TVs in the house, so got a little ear training. Missed some of the finer points. I managed to get an internet connection on the ipod, so I could read the recaps. Saved my life!!!

--Beth

Well I was dead wrong and lost my bet that Jairo and Slobminga were going to torture Abora more. Several of you called it right that they were making the trip to Corpus Crispi for a permanent vacation, together for ever, ahhhh, I think Abora will not rise to the occasion of interesting even with all the threats gone. It was hard to hear her prayers to the Virgencita even though I know she is being a kinder soul than I am.

Susanlynn, I saw something about Board Minutes on the binder, so yes VIStuff for him to grab. Flor was in a virtual flutter and swoon.

I enjoyed seeing the Elizalde's strong arm Babs a bit. I believe she did know or at least suspect that Artemio is behind Aurora's captivity and he keeps telling her to mind her own business and finish her assignments. I expect she will be trying to destroy him before long, since her destruction of the Elizaldes is headed for a major derailing when she accesses Rebeca's account.

Hey Comadre JB, I could see a paper through the shopping bag too, I think shopping list with paper from Franco's house to identify GarDamya so the hunt can begin.

Hombre, I think Franco got the letters he had sent to Soledad, not the ones he sent to Fernanda nor the ones she sent to him, so there should still be one more box they have not searched and then of course the gym bag in GarDumbya's closet. I was hoping Gardi would notice her closet messed up but she's got much bigger messing problems at the moment.

Finished the cap. Thanks again, Ferro! Grrreat! Love your rewording of Aurora's prayer. Gawd, she's stoopid! I'd rather have Errorika and Samti both get amnesia and live happily ever after together. Let Cadmilho have Aurora!

Go back and look at the scene with Silvestre y Venus. Sil was looking mighty content as the curvy Venus put her arm around him: sappy happy grin. Guess he's better! Hee hee!

Variopinta, si, no logic! I need a beanie. Thanks, Julie for that clarification on Babs knowing about the Ciggie-Aurora connection: I just thought it wouldn't even be suspected for a while longer. Fun comments!

Connie, it helps me to have a name to pray for. Thanks! Peace to you and Josh!

Dona Gringuita here: Gracias a Dios, la bruja del infierno esta muerta. Yes, Dominga is no more. Now the only person who's left to gross me out on a truly visceral level is Liver Lips Cadmillo, but at least he takes a shower and doesn't smear his food all over his face--at least not on camera.

Masoquista Abora is on a bus to somewhere or perhaps nowhere. Sorry, but that muchachita deserves whatever she gets, as does Denia who at this point I have no empathy for given what she's done with the letters from Nanda.

Finally, Nanda is getting a clue that her family is the poster child for dysfunction.

As for crying men, well I think novelas are full of them. Santi, Vladimir, sometimes Ed, and if anyone is watching Cuidado which plays right before MEPS, you'll need an entire bed sheet to mop up male tears.

OK, so I'm a sap for that much more than for the strong silent types. But cojones are needed too however not the kind Vlad has as he plays mind games with Flor.

Ferro I love your comment about Barbara la vibora wearing makeup to look like she's not wearing makeup.

Connie, I just saw the picture on your profile. What a handsome guy!

Wow what a lot of comments! Thanks everyone.
On Chicharones (sp?) - those huge kite sized ones you buy on the street, my wife and son LOVE them. The guy drizzles hot sauce all over it and they devour them on the spot. I usually take a pass.

Babs should never have mentioned that handkerchief to Artemio, no matter how freaked out she was by it. His reaction proved not only that he knew all about it, but it also ensured that he wasn't going to let her find out anything else.

She should have kept the hankie to herself and investigated on her own. Oh well. I think she actually should have asked Aurora how she came by it. Of course Babs would have to lie about how she found it ("I picked up your bag to give it back to you and this fell out"), but I'm pretty sure she'd be okay with lying. She could say it looks like the handkerchief of a "friend" who had a baby long ago, blah blah blah.

Carlos- you're killing me with the chicharrones- too bad they don't keep, or I ask to send me some! And Jarocha- that "castacan"- never seen those. Those sound pretty tasty. All this made me realize I didn't get any skin from the pig we roasted Memorial Day! I was busy cooking when they were tearing it apart. The thinner shin w/a little fat is such an annual indulgence! My buddy's daugher claimed the eyeball for a treat, but didn't see that, either. I've seen her do it before, I guess that's good enough.

I was thinking that the bomb was way overkill, too, and exteremely heavy-handed for Ciggy to have done. I had been thinking that he would want to leave a small footprint, how wrong I can be. I seriuosly doubt that they will whack Bosco and Gardenia, maybe just rty to extract info. The Mexican avances show a terrified, hopefully only terrorized and not harmed Denia.

JeffMN, great point on Venus. Classy is asking for too much. Maybe just something less prostitute-y.

Thank you, thank you PaulaH. You are so right. I always forget about that security stuff. He couldn't even tell me where he was going.

Thanks for the recap Chris. Your snark about Aurora had me in hysterics. You said it all.

It was fun seeing Santi (and Cad too) not take anything from Barb.

Connie - I too will be praying for you and your son, Josh.

Cheryl: Corpus Crispi??? OMG, that is just TOOOOOOOO funny! My grammar school was Corpus Christi (in Connecticut) and the publics called us Crispy Critters.

ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maggarita

Crispy Critters! Now that's funny! :P

He probably had them blow the place up to make sure that any remaining evidence of Manzanares would be destroyed. If Jairo had been more cooperative, they might not have had to take such precautions, but since he turned out not to be helpful, they couldn't assume that he wasn't holding onto some piece of information or evidence. Now it's all gone.

So I guess that girl with the long braids didn't survive the blast either? Too bad. I thought she was funny, not that she did much... I just remember how funny she thought it was when Martina beat up Lucio.

Julie, I shall miss her. I thought that she was very attractive though in a very scary way. She certainly did cheer on Martina. I believe she shouted, "Cut him to shreds!" What a motivational speaker.

Carlos

Hopefully Braid Girl had the night off. :-)

I entirely forgot my manners. Ferro, thank you so much for the snappy, snarky, very funny recap. I am so relieved that you find Aurora BOREalis as annoying as I do, you have to be very close to the real confession and yes slappng for penance sounds like a punishment to fit the crime.

Connie, I'm very proud and so thankful to Josh and those who have served and are still serving. I'm glad to hear that perfect strangers have come up to him and want to shake his hand or give him a hug for his service to our country. Well deserved respect...

Connie, Tell your son thank you from me. I think it's about time old folks went to war & the young ones stay home & finish educations, raising families & enjoying life. Anyone agree.

I thought the body count was a little excessive to get rid of Jairo. Professional killers like these are supposed to be don't do that, one or two additional maybe if they happen to get in the way. Guess I've watched too many mafia movies.
Pobre Gardenia, she better start reading her horoscope before venturing out of the house. And Fr/Ed said they needed to look after her, but he has so many things on his mind.

Didn't Artemio lie to Babs that her child was dead? Not sure how he would know & she wouldn't.

At least Dominga died happy, blitzed on tequila. All that booze just fired the flames.

Where's Coyote when you need him? He would have finessed it a little better I think.

I don't quite get Gardenia hiding the letters in Fr/Ed's house in his gym bag, and he looks like he might use a gym bag. Those fine rippling muscles, oops losing my train of thought here.
They will be found & how will Fr/Ed take that betrayal?

Lots of horse lovers here, saw this today. This guy might be the tallest horse, wow is he big. Check out his shoes.

Variopinta, ironically, just a couple of days ago, Dominga held up her empty bottle and lamented thatshe was out of combustible. Yesterday she was combustible. Connie, el Coyote would still be thinking about it. Say what you will about Carpio, he is decisive and effective. Maybe a tad impatient. Carlos

Great recap, Chris. Thank you so much. I look forward MEPS each evening and I *really* look forward to the recaps and comments; it adds so much to the overall enjoyment. Thanks everyone.

Variopinto, we, too, just finished Amor Real a couple weeks ago, but I bought the 20-disk set from www.telenovelas-elkompa.com as a Christmas present for my husband. They were complete, even though the picture quality wasn't always the best. I learned the hard way a couple years back that an Amazon set of Tres Mujeres (3 disks) was too abridged to be recognizable.

Thanks Ferro for tellin it like it is. Like many of those in viewersville, my friend thinks that Abora is the sweetest, cutest thing since apple pie. The way I feel about her is exactly as you described. And because she's Babs long lost daughter, she's gonna be around for awhile. Why does Santiago feel hopeful of winning her back since Dominga no longer exists? Dominga wasn't the reason she supposedly left him. He doesn't know that she lied about having another man. I'm too something or other to FF through any parts of this show. Otherwise I'd FF through all of Santiago's crying scenes. I don't feel one bit sorry for Denia. Although I don't wish for physical abuse, I hope in some way this leads to the letters being discovered.

I had been thinking that Carpio does only what Ciggy sez and when. The bomb was stupid. Even in Mexico, such an explosion would be investigated thoroughly by the best, and there would be a possiblity that it could lead to Carpio, and then Ciggy. Doesn't appear to be very well thought out. Good thing all the nukes are safe from falling into Carpio's hands.

Re Auroraborealis~ Where did she get that change of clothes ? She was wearing something wilder when she got blown out of the Bad Love Bar and Grill. Maybe Sylvestre loaned her some of Martina's clothes. I , too, enjoyed seeing Babs's world start to crumble. She's known Cad since he was a nasty teen, so why did she think 1] he had a brain in his head and 2] she could trust him.?????

Susanlynn- Babs does not do her own dirty work, and Cad is really the only one around now. Lucio is locked up, Dam is on the lam. For sure she is running out of allies, she can't even trust Ciggy anymore, but still has to do his bidding. She would suspect that Ciggy is behind the bomb, and knows how easily he could do the same to her. She is becoming desperate, probably will start to make more mistakes.

Variopinta: Loved the visual of Jacinto giving Cadmilo the extra boost up --and all the way over. Ha! What a hoot! Thanks for the link. He certainly gives Capricho a run for his money in the looks department. Another gorgeous animal. I am small so when I get on a horse at 15 hands I'm okay. The largest I've seen and ridden was 17 and that was really a bit much. Don't know about the other riders here, but I can't even begin to imagine a horse close to 20 hands and weighing 3000 lbs., let alone the ferrier having to shoe him!

Dorado Dave: The castacán is very tasty indeed, the name is used mostly in the south part of México, in Puebla they only call it chicharrón con carne so maybe you can find some just asking for chicharrón with meat.

HGR: You got Tres Mujeres in a three disc set? Yikes, that novela lasted about a year, it was very long and so many things happened, I can't imagine all the things they must have cut.

I think the explosion was a bit too much, but the mexican audience doesn't have much faith in the competence of their authorities, so my guess it's that the writers just went with it, analizing the blast in full detail it's obvious that everybody would think there was something strange with it though.

Jarocha.

Dorado Dave/Susanlynn: Yep, I figure Babs has got slim pickens now that she's having to rely on the "Naran-ho". Her world is coming apart and we're only a few weeks into this. I'm hoping she'll regain her control of things if only to keep things interesting. There were many times in FELS I thought Gabi was doomed but she always seemed to recover the ground she lost. I want to see more treachery, murderous mayhem and classic BOW outbursts from her. >8 > }

Connie: I'm right there with you! My son went to the Middle East twice. Sending him a big hug from me and mine.

Connie~~~Forgot to tell you that I am sending lots of good vibrations out for your son. My son-in-law's brother [whom I call my ''bonus son-in-law because he's such a sweet guy] has been to the Middle East three times. He repairs planes. Wish that they could all come home soon.

HGR
I'll ck out that site. The 2 sides of disc 1 were long, about 4 hours total, but I'm sure the novela was about 180 hours.
I also got Alborada from Amazon & that seemed ok to me about 15 hours.

I remember many years ago, they showed "To Kill a Mocking Bird" on TV. It was a wonderful movie, but they had cut out so much, it was awful. If you've seen the movie, there is not one word that you can cut out. The public had such a fit that they showed it again, uncut.

You know what else was funny - after the blast, the way the camera sloooooowly panned over Aurora's naked legs. Just in case you were wondering if she had lost a foot or anything.

Body count....

In the past few days, Ed/Fr has added three members to his "team" - Gardenia, Steve, and Fernanda. Although all were in the fringes before, they are now pretty much on the roster.

On the other hand, Artemio has lost Metamares and Dominga - and fringe players Jairo and Lucio.

Ed/Fr is ahead in the body count!!!

The Silverfox

Variopinta - OMG I didn't even think about the tequila rendering Jaro and Dominga even more flammable.

Wow! twenty hands is a big horse. Seventeen hands is too big for me and I'm tall. Ballpark of sixteen was the right size when I rode, in my youth. It's a long way to the ground, as it is.

HGR
Checked out the novela site & I know you probably get what you pay for, but I think they are way too expensive, $45, $55, $65. That's a lot for something you'll probably only watch one time.

I think I got more out of that video they showed on Amor Real than from the DVD I bought. I wonder if it's all the episodes. If there are 4 hours per disc & 16 discs, that's 64 hours & cutting out the commercials, that's pretty good.

Ferro, thanks for a fantastic recap.
Maggarita--NaranHo. Hee.
Carlos--yes, Gardenia should keep a little kidnap bag with her at all times.
Connie--best wishes for your son and your family during his deployment.
Paula--I likes your reasoning on the letters Fr/Ed sent Fernanda.
Trying to get this in before it's time to sit down for the next epi.
La Paloma

Should be liked your reasoning. Typing too fast.
La Paloma

Good one Cheryl, Aurora BOREalis or perhaps even Aurora Boreallofus. :)

JeffMN

Ferro, just read your recap. Giggled all the way through. I wish you would tell us what you really think about Aurora.
Connie, my thoughts are with you and your son.
Barbara
