MEPS, Thursday, June 11, 2009, Let's Make a Deal, Cap. 83

From yesterday: Ed tells Fer that Barb is a mysterious person and difficult to know and wants to know why she asked. She saw Damian and is doubting his words that Barb is behind all the problems in the family and the company. How could she have lived her life with such a cheat.

Meanwhile Barb is looking for Dr. O. Adolfina tells Barb that Dr. O has gone to see his sick mother in Vera Cruz. Barb asks about Lili and Adolfina says better than ever. Barb wants to see her and Adolfina tries to tell Barb that Lili can’t have visitors. Too bad about the rules says Barb, they are meant to be broken.

FrEd tells Fer that he doesn’t know Gonzo enough to figure out the effect his spouse has on him. She has no doubt all these problems could be the end of her family. FrEd says that if you trust Damian over Barbara?? She doubts everything. What about your marriage. Her marriage exists on paper only.

Both Dam and Vlad try to comfort Pris and calm her down. She insists that Dam tell her why he is there. She starts to make a call to Anibal. Vlad is muy impactado.

Ed gives Fer a drink of tequila and says it will be good for you. He wants to know what Fer wants of him. She says that Damian said Barb has the $3million. She has no proof that Barb has it in a personal account. She wants to know if Barb spoke to him about different accounts than those of Lactos. He shakes his head but does not give us a clue if it’s a “yes” or a “no.”

In a very disturbing scene, Barb visits Lili who is clearly terrorized. Barb reminds Lili that very soon she’s going to be an orphan and that she is going to be responsible for her father’s death. Barb rubs it in calling Lili an assesina, etc. Anibal and Camilo already accuse you of killing your mother. A very physical fight ensues. Barb slugs Lili and calls her more names. You will be alone and crazy in this Hell. Enter Adolfina who wants to know what happened. The poor thing fell, lies Barb, while she was dancing. Lili curls up in her chair.

At Pueblo Purificacion: Aurora, who is dressed as a milkmaid, is arranging flowers in a little walled garden in Dominga’s hovel while Santi cooks dinner. She compliments his cooking. He made the meal especially for her. And, if she goes with him, he’ll become a great chef. He wants her to go with him because the worst thing would be to be separated from her. She wants to know if he thinks it’s a good idea. She reminds him of her faults: no family, education, talent. And that his family doesn’t know who she is. He doesn’t care. She’s afraid they’ll hate her for having told lies. They swear a pact never to tell. So, then, she’ll return with him. Finally, she agrees to go with him. They kiss and then hear a loud, insistent knock at the door. She goes to see who is at the door. She peeks from behind the curtains and sees a man with a goatee and scary look on his face. Sorry, folks, he’s not disfigured and is not a single-eyed Cyclops. Just a man and she is terrified.

FrEd asks Fer if your stepmother was aware of secret accounts and if you found out about them, what would you do? It would show that my husband was telling the truth. He asks and if it proved that Damian had lied to you?

Vlad gives Pris a pill. But the Dynamic Duo’s concern for pregnant Pris doesn’t last long. Dam says what are you thinking of telling your husband. Call him, but I am going to tell the truth that you are about to lose your baby and the identity of the real father of your baby. You miserable pig, say Pris. Go on, Dam says, call him or I will. Vlad tries to stop Dam’s rant. Dam wants Pris to stay there. Vlad invites Dam to step outside – later, says Dam. Dam doesn’t want to miss Pris’ call.

Fer says there are two options if Bar is innocent – my marriage is over and it will be a tragedy for my family. FrEd says what if both are guilty? A third option is both are guilty. Is there a third option or are both guilty. He says it’s a possibility, but it doesn’t matter. Fer keeps at him: Are you willing to help me find out the truth, she asks. First he says, what do you know about Artemio Bravo.

Santi asks Aurora about what’s going on? Then he sees The Man in Black and notes that The Man looks just like his father except he has a beard, a moustache, and he’s younger. They wonder who it could be. Let’s ask, says Santi.

Fer says she doesn’t know Artemio Bravo. FrEd says this man has a lot to do with what is going on. She never heard this name. How about Rebeca Sanchez – she hasn’t heard that one either.

Barb keeps comforting Lili in her own inimitable way. She reminds Lili that her father is sick and wants to visit her and that she should behave herself. Where is Martina???? Barb, on her way out tells Adolfina to tell Dr. O to call her. Finally, the old witch leaves. Adolfina tries to comfort Lili. She says Martina will be back soon to take care of her. Lili is distraught.

Fer asks why these people are so important. He has to find out. Maybe they can help determine Dam’s guilt or not. She still wants his help because for one thing she has to know the truth about Damian. FrEd knows she’s thinking of her father and her family. She also wants to find out what’s up with her stepmother. He wants to know if she’s willing to do what he asks. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Sure, she says.

Santi and Aurora discuss the man at the door. Aurora is afraid she will lose her freedom. She thinks they know Dominga. They get away from the door. Santi realizes that those guys aren’t going to leave so he has to develop a strategy. He sees women’s high-heeled shoes by the door that inspire him.

Pris accuses Vlad of being a liar and cheat. He begs her to let him explain. She says no. She’s leaving and doesn’t want to know anything about them. She tells Vlad to shut up. Dam says enough Pris. You’re exaggerating. I’m accused of robbing money that I didn’t rob and you are pregnant by a man who isn’t your husband. We’re partners. She wants to spit at him. Now they have secrets to keep.

Santi, dressed as a peasant woman opens the door. He is covered up with a serape and gloves. The Man says he is looking for Dominga. Santi says don’t come near me because I have a cold. Yes, this is Dominga’s house. The Man is looking for her. Who? – a friend says the man. Santi says he’s a neighbor. The Man keeps asking where is Dominga. Santi tells him she died. The Man wants to know how she died. In an accident, says Santi in a village where a hotel burned. And what about the girl who lived with her? Where is she? Santi says the girl is dead, too. The Man looks shocked.

Little Rocio brings coffee to Fer and FrEd. FrEd is once again talking to her about Lili and says that it’s not sufficient to transfer Lili to Stockholm. What do mean freeing her. Do you remember the day I talked to you about the Jinete Justiciero? What does Lili have to do with this. Fer explains that her sister is sick. He tells her that what surrounds her family surrounds him, too. They have to make decisions now. He is sure that Lili needs help from specialists. Fer says there’s something else. What?

Santi keeps up his act. The Man is visibly moved. Santi says they are both charcoal and ashes and asks if the man knew them. He did. They weren’t friends they were more than that. Man One in Black runs to open the Jeep door for Artemio Bravo while the other two MIB get in the car. Finally they leave. Ed: It’s just a little hard to believe that a man who is bringing down a Titan in the milk industry could fall for such a lame act. Anyway, ahem.

Fred says he does not know his enemy but there are people who are interested in him. Why does Camilo want to hurt you? He doesn’t know. What does Lili have to do with this. The names of Artemio Bravo and Rebeca Sanchez mean something to Lili. So that’s why they are pursuing her. She wants to know what it all means and he says the same person who is responsible for having Lili locked up is the same person who is his enemy, and Lili knows the enemy.

AB thinks to himself – dead, Aurora dead. Editor: We missed a little glycerin tear running down his cheek, gee whiz. He left Aurora with a mean-spirited drunk and now he misses her. Yeah, right.

Aurora said she nearly fainted when she saw the man because he looked like Gonzo. Aurora says she’s never seen this man and that he must be Dominga’s friend. Aurora says they have to get out of there. Where could he have come from? Santi says his eyes were cold when I told him Dominga was dead. He asks her did you know this man.

The secret that Lili has is terrible says Ed. That’s why she’s locked up. They did it to turn her into a vegetable. Fer says if that’s true it’s a monstrous crime. He wants Fer’s help in freeing Lili. He asks her help again in freeing Lili. Who’s going to believe Lili – whatever she says could be a hallucination or fantasy. Do you really believe that. He says they have the solution in their hands. Lili can be rehabilitated and you can do something to help your sister. We have to get her out of that clinic and get her rehabbed. Fer understands. Haven’t you seen that Lili has made progress. He says can I count on you?

Back at Vlad’s, Vlad asks Pris what’s she going to do. She says I’m going home. He asks her forgiveness. Call me a taxi or I will. Dam says to Vlad what are you going to do. Vlad’s says he’s going with her. Dam wants a moment to talk to her alone. She says I already told Vlad I wasn’t going to stay here. Dam says I don’t have anything against you. It’s just a coincidence that we’re in this together. If you forget what you saw, it will be good for both of us. You'll have your baby, and your husband will never know. She’s not sure. Take your time, he says, think about it. You are an intelligent woman. And if she doesn’t accept? He’ll have to flee and prove his innocence and when your father, your brother and family find out that the baby you expect isn’t your husband's they all turn their back on you.

Anibal yells at a flabbergasted Flor – how did these reports get in the hands of Franco Alvear? They are minutes of the Board of Directors – they got in the hands of my enemies. The documents are from the files to which poor Flor has access. A raging Ani wants to know how they got in his wife’s brother’s hands. He accuses Flor of being a traitor and traitors have to be banished.

Dam says that Ani never played fair. Ani has always been a jerk. It’s the entire Elizalde family’s fault. Ani has been using her money all along. So what, that’s my affair, says Pris. Now that Vlad is in the company, he can watch out for you. Don’t worry because Vlad is completely looking out for her interests. Vlad, she calls out. Dumb ass Vlad enters wearing an apron and asks her if she’s hungry. Call me a taxi. But, but says Vlad. Dam, who now thinks he has Pris in the palm of his hands, tells Vlad never to contradict a pregnant woman.

At Lactos, Flor is crying as she is turning over documents to Osvaldo. Ani wants to know why she’s still there and that he could send her to jail and complain to the rest of his family. He accuses her of espionage. Flor turns in her ID.

Fer says that what you see is easy, but I am terrified. I will open my eyes and see something strange like a nightmare. Why does the earth shake. He says that is reality they are confronting themselves. Her anguish is to believe lies and to trust people who lied. He says that the worst lie is not to confront terror. She says I trusted and was fooled and since then I am dying of fear and am not able to do anything. Then feel fear, he says – turn it into your ally. She says now fear and you are my only allies. Yes, he says and reaches for her hand. Theme music plays. She kisses his hand and he wipes her tears away, moves in closer and puts his forehead next to hers and finally they kiss.

Avances: AB talks to Barb. She further twists Gonzo around her finger. Fer and FrEd are allies.

Someone - please tag this for me. Thanks.

Finally--THE KISS. It was smokin' hot! That made the whole episode for me.

AB is creepy. His eyes are black like a shark's. Gave me a chill.

Poor Flor. That was really upsetting. I hope Anibal gets the smackdown soon.

Lili. That scene upset me also. Someone needs to take a whip to Babs.

Sorry Pasofino, where are my manners. Thank you for the great recap.

I can't access my proile today. Any ideas why it won't work?

Pasofino - thank you for the recap.

Personally, I was let down by AB's "face of evil" and was almost giggling. There are actors with more evil facial expressions. At least we know he is not disfigured, except maybe in his heart and soul.

I've wondered if Aurora could be daughter of AB, but there is no way since she and Santi did the horizontal tango. Telenovela rules forbid incest, and they would be cousins.

So if AB said she was more than a friend, I wonder exactly what she is to him.

Doris: I was thinking along those same lines, i.e., that AB was Aurora's father. That would definitely complicate the relationship between Santi and Aurora because that would mean that they are not far enough removed in the family chain to be "kissing cousins."

Thanks for the recap Pasofino. The face of evil isn't that scary. So what is Aurora to AB? If a daughter, then Santi and her are cousins (assuming AB and Gonzo are half bros) and they didn't just do the horizontal tango, we know that according to TN rules that she has to be pregnant now. Seems like that would rule out father/daughter?

JeffMN

Pasofino, thanks for the nifty recap. As for the eagerly awaited Artemio Bravo, that's it? That's all there is? I want my hour back. He'd better kill or torture somebody PDQ if he wants to regain my fear and respect. Now this past 15 years are coming into focus. Looking like it may take another !5 for this nitwit to complete his diabolic plan. Let's have another steamy love scene between Aurora and Santi while we wait.

Carlos

Hmmm, "rostro de maldad"....zzzzz. They had built up to this? What a wimp. And what a gullible wimp to buy Santi's ruse. I thought that he would look much more like Gonzo, they disguised him quite well, I thought. Anyway, it looks like Abora could be free of him, but we know that is not to be.

The smackdown of Lili, that was disturbing, Babs really has it coming, and I wish that Lili could have done a better job with her choking. I hope that the holy alliance of Eddy and Fer take her out of there- NOW. I don't understand why Eddy didn't do it on his own. She busted out once, it could be done again, especially with the pesos that Eddy has now.

The apparent alliance between Dam and Pris is interesting. Also interesting, how persuasive Dam was in his presentation to Pris, how calm and logical. I think that Sendel is the best actor in this whole thing, along with Sylvia.

And the moment that all the women have been waiting for- the kiss between Eddy and Fer. At least it didn't make me cringe like Santi/Abora did. I just don't feel much chemistry, and the whole buildup was a bit tiresome. Maybe that's just me.

This morning- the switch to digital. I still have to hook up my rabbit ears to box to tv, and need a cable to do so. Otherwise, I'll have to youtube this episode...

Oops, amost forgot- Thanks, Pasofino.

Thanks for another great recap, Pasofino...I'll see if I can temporarily disable my protection mode and post this for you.

I was rather smitten with Cigarman. He looks like the old Ironsides character. Remember him?

And he looked truly stricken upon hearing of Aurora's demise. Is it affection or the loss of his blackmail chip over Barbara? Since she previously believed her daughter dead, that can't really be. Oh well, another puzzle.

Well I liked the final kiss mucho. Also liked the way Eduardo/Franco leaned his forehead into hers and nibbled around the edges before going into a full lipped kiss. Oh my, savor the memories Judy.

Hated the Liliana scenes. Am getting really bored with her terror-stricken look and I'm sure the actress is bored blue having to play the same scene over and over again.

Please get her out so she can enjoy some new facial expressions, director and writers!

JudyB - Ironsides! You are soooo right. I had forgotten about him.

I guess if FrEd had gotten Lili out of the manicomio by now, our telenovela would be a lot shorter.

I'm not feeling chemistry between FrEd and Fer even though the scenes are good and the acting is very good. Chemistry is difficult to find or achieve; it is probably serendipitous. Or luck. Honestly, I don't think FC was the right man for this role but I don't know who else could have done it, either, so maybe that's why he has it. Perhaps I prefer him in period telenovelas?

IRONSIDES! Exactly, Judy, just slimmer and walking, instaed of rolling. If Colunga isn't the man for this role, I'd volunteer, and give it a try. It would be ggod for my spanish...

Pasofino...my computer shows that it is tagged now. Check on yours.

dorado dave - improving your Spanish...my left foot! You just want to cozy up to Silvia Navarro. (grin)

Pasofino, a great recap - thank you.

As Fernanda's world comes crashing down and everything she believed in is revealed to be a lie, her only hope, her only alliance is now with Fr/Ed who has perpetrated the cruelest lie of all upon her.

I also hated the Lili scenes. As Barbi swoopes in only on the rarest occasions when Martina is not there, perhaps Franco should consider round the clock protection. As everyone seems to be getting past the guards at LA, perhaps they would be more effective in a confined setting. :)

Diana in MA

JudyB: Thanks. It looks like it's working OK.

BTW: The Ironsides actor was Raymond Burr.

Wouldn't you just love to see Lili haul off and smack her silly just once? (ok, maybe twice, or 3 times or....)

Focusing on Lil for a moment. She has been the most troubling character for me almost from the beginning. Every time I see her, I think back to that lively, impetuous young girl that began the show. Now here she is all fetaled up flinching at the slightest movement or noise. During her best moments she is supervised by a mudwrestler in a too tight too short nurse's outfit, and at worst she is being menaced by a psycho harridan or a soulless washed up quack. At what point is someone going to step up and say, "hey, let's see if we can help this young woman"? Maybe borrow Barbara from over at Tontas or call Dr. Alonzo out of retirement. Jesus Lopez, somebody take some responsibility here.

Carlos

You are so right Carlos. Why couldn't Fr/Ed take her back to Las Animas like he did last time. Why isn't Martina with her?

I thought the kiss was sweet. It would have helped if FrEd hadn't been so cold and in a way unpleasant in the lead up. DDave, I think that you would have been better in that scene, great Spanish or no!

Nanda really handles tough situations well, she was getting such a cold shoulder from FrEd and she just kept plugging away, unphased. Dito with in many of the family meetings at GL. I am going to try to be more like Fernanda, except for the bright yellow car!

Thanks for the terrific recap.

Sandy in TN

No, no, Doris, strictly professional and educational (read- diccionario peludo).

I also really like the Nanda character- she is being shat upon from all sides, her whole being- the veracity of her perception of her past, her present world, her personal safety, and future, all is in doubt. As Diana pointed out, worst and most ironically of all, by Franco/Eddy. Yet she keeps her head up and shoulders back. (and looks great doing so). Of course, we know that she will triumph in the end, which helps.

!Lilian libre!

Thanks, Pasofino. Judyb~~~Yes, you are so right...Evil Incarnate actually looks like Ironsides !!! [My mother loved that show and Perry Mason. She watched the reruns over and over.] I was thinking the Face of Evil was a brunette Skitch Henderson [remember him] , or the sing-along guy ...Was it Sing Along with Mitch ???? I can't remember his last name. I agree that whoever he looks like, it was pretty anticlimatic. My 10th grade geometry teacher Mr. Loy aka The Moose looked a whole lot scarier when he was locking me out of class because I was late from the gym showers. I, too, am tired of Babs abusing Lili everytime Martina isn't there. I'm sure that Babs's fate is sealed now. She is in for a nasty ending. I found it hard to watch Pris in pain and possibly having a miscarriage while Dam wheels and deals and Vlad dons his apron to cook up a little snack. QUE THE HELL. Jesus Lopez !!!! I've had a miscarriage and a scare of another...very frightening. Now, on to happier things...The Kiss. FC nevers disappoints. As I've stated on other recaps of other shows...guys pay attention...This hombre has an advanced degree in kissing. FC should be writing books and teaching serminars in the Art of Kissing. Spin-the-Bottle was a very popular pastime at rural teen parties. FC is the second best kisser I know. Note : Slow and steady wins the race . That slow, deliberate approach was well executed. No reason to hurry. Good things come to those who wait. I'm always amazed that FC can send that charm and grace right through the airwaves. Touchdown for Harvard.

Thank you, Pasofino!

I thought a lot of the plot lines changed direction in this episode: The alliance (of sorts) of Dam and Pris, the appearance of Artemio, Flor getting blindsided, and finally a working relationship between Franco and Fer, sealed with a kiss!

But the gold standard for on-screen chemistry, imho, would have to be Rodrigo and Gaviota. Nothing else I've seen comes close!

I'm moving this weekend, and will be relying on you wonderful recappers to keep me up to speed next week!

Jane

Great recap, Pasofino!

Not only does AB not look that scary, we have no clue as to why he hates the Elizaldes so much. He not horribly disfigured, he has plenty of money, and if Gonzo took Montserrat away from him, I'd say Gonzo did him a favor, from the short time we saw her "charming" personality.

And he can't be Barbara's father, since supposedly she killed her parents. And we've decided he can't be Aurora's father, since Santi/Aurora would be incest (also, that would mean AB and Barb were lovers, and they sure don't act like even former lovers.

BTW, Fernanda never heard of Rebecca Sanchez, but Aurora and Santi have, so maybe they'll compare notes at some point.

The Lili scenes would appear to be the result of overconfidence on Fr/Ed's part. He was figuring Lili was now safe, but nope. We also got a chance to see Barb take care of herself. Previously, at the supper that time, Barb let Lili take advantage of her. This time, Lili struck, but Barb handled her easily. Good thing Adolphina came in to keep anything else from happening. I don't think there would have been much for physical action, Barb wants to mentally torture Lili more than physical.

Question now is whether we'll have another scene of Lili running away or at the very least Lili being upset with Ed and Martina because they left here alone.

JeffMN

Thank you, Pasofino. Dumb ass Vlad is right. When he came out with that apron on I wanted to smack him myself. I suppose its a testament to the actors skill when an otherwise good looking man becomes so annoying that he is completely unattractive.

Carlos-- Loved your post on poor Lil. Your wit and wisdom are razor sharp today. Thanks for the morning chuckle.

-Liliana (the real Lil)

AB reacted as if Aurora is his daughter, but we know kissing cousins are a TN taboo. Aurora could still be AB's. What if Santiago is not really Gonzalo's? What if Monserrat enjoyed after-school sports? I have no trouble believing that Anibal and Camilo are products of those two loser parents. But Fernanda and Santiago (and possibly Lili)? How could they possibly be from the same union?

The kiss. Remember the kiss in the meadow? Fern participated and enjoyed it, but then she remembered that she was married and she acted as if he had taken advantage of her, so she put an angry distance between them. FrEd guaranteed that wouldn't happen again. He gave her warnings loud and clear, and plenty of time to back out if she wanted to. Which of course she didn't. Now she can't be angry at an unwanted kiss and she can't claim no attraction is there. Busted!

Thanks for the great recap, Pasofino.

Hey, if Eddie and Fern are to tie the knot at the big wedding in the cathedral in the gran final what has happened to Dam? I enjoy him so much even though he's been outright nasty to Vlad but really not that evil, just a cheat and an opportunist...he's certainly not a killer, like Babs. Oh, no. And was that only the second real kiss between Fr/Ed and Nanda in 83 episodes. Oh no again. Let's hope the kissing quota speeds up pronto. GinCA

Thanks for the recap Pasofino.

ITA with all of you tired of Lil's torture. I wish the writers would move on with this plot so we can see Lil return to herself. It's torture for us to see her tormented by her mother's killer.

This ABravo discussion is interesting. I particularly like Paula's idea that Santi might not be Gonzo's. We've all wondered how AB and Cam could have to same genes as Fer.

At least Vlad was trying to take care of Pris and the unborn baby. He really was stressed and didn't know what else to do.

Santiago reminded me of the witch in Little Red Riding Hood. "Granny, what big hands you have!"

Speaking of kissing cousins being taboo in novela land, won't Pris HAVE to end up with Vlad or at least have a miscarriage? They won't have Anibal being the unknowing father or another man's baby will they? This is very interesting. The writers don't seem to be facilitating the Vlad/Pris union at this point.

Sandy in TN

Thanks, Pasofino!

Freduardo was certainly weird in his talk with Fer. Pretty cool if not cold right up until he kissed her. He kept revealing his jealousy, asking things like: well, wouldn't you stand by your husband from love even if he were guilty. There were a couple of instances of that.

Cristina did some kind of Colunga appreciation show in which Gabriela Spanic stated that FC was the BEST kisser of all the telenovios she'd kissed.

Totally tired of Babs abusing Lil, but you gotta hand it to Lucero, she really BRINGS the evil.

I don't think they absolutely have to kill off Dam for our lovebirds to marry. The church gives annulments to unconsummated marriages. Didn't Sofía eventually get one in FELS, although Feonando croaked, so she had double chances to marry Juan?

Boy, I can't think of any scenario except a blood tie that would cause Ciggy's eyes to well up with tears about Aurora's supposed death. I was sure she must be his daughter, not thinking clearly about the incest thing.

Poor Fernanda. At least she's strong and willing to do more than wring her hands. But Freduardo knows most, but is playing word games with her - hinting but not saying why Artemio Bravo and Rebeca Sanchez are important. Sigh. Wonder how many episodes he's going to keep doing that.

Santiago not being Gonzo's child is a brilliant theory, takes care of the incest issue, and may be what falls out by the end of this thing. Might explain where the curly hair came from, too. It would certainly raise eyebrows around Hacienda Evilzalde.

It's hard to believe we're on the 83rd episode. Where did the time go?

Santi in drag was muy creepy.

Whatever happened to the envelope that Fr/Ed picked up at Artemio's empty office. I would think he would have ripped it open immendiately if nothing else out of curiosity. Did I miss something.

Indeed ...Santi in drag ... muy tonto.

I'm starting to think that before this is all over the Alzalde family tree may resemble more a strangely mixed orchard.

I think Artemio is Eddie's daddy

Lil is Gonzo's and Soledad's daughter

Anibal and Camilo are the legitimate offspring of Gonzo and Monserrat

Santi is son of Monserrat and daddy to be named later

Aurora is daughter of Artemio and Babs

Nanda is daughter of Monserrat and possibly Santi's pa

Now I have a headache, but I think this solves all the potential incest problems. Thank goodness it's almost Millertime.

Carlos

Carlos, sounds good to me. Anibal and Camilo as full hermanos. I think Santi and Fern have to be full hermanos too. They even look reasonably similar. I couldn't figure out where on which side to put Lil, but I like your idea - neither! Daughter of Sol - that really works for me.

Pasofino: terrific recap! And it was quite the episode, as it veered from creepy Artemio, Babs/Lili smackdown and then BAM! a very hot kiss. Susanlynn, I'm with you...he's the Kissing King. Muy caliente!

Carlos: methinks you've already hit the Millers if you're coming up with a multitude of incest-less scenarios for our identity challenged crew. Very funny. Cries out for an excel spreadsheet.

Free Lili! Get that girl some real therapy...poor thing. Babs is destined for some serious TN hell.

I really like Pris, especially when she smacked Vlad. What a tool...an apron? Egads. And AnyBalls is the biggest tool going for berating Flor like that. Nothing like a ball-less bully who picks on those who won't stand up to him. Grrrrrr.

But oh that kiss....le sigh.

Maggarita
:-D

"Use your feet, Lili!" That's what I was yelling at the TV last night. Martina should give Lili some self-defense lessons.

About Santi and Abora being related - I thought the same as Paula - that having Santi be the non-offspring of Gonzo solves the incest problem pretty neatly. Except you then have to wonder what kind of guy was willing to mess with married Montserrat yet still had the DNA to produce a kind and healthy child?

On a related note, if the scary guy who was pounding on your door looked just like your boyfriend's dad, wouldn't you totally freak out?

Regarding the chemistry between FrEd and Fer, I remember that the chemistry between Ricardo and Camila in Pasion was disappointing at first too (even taking into account that Camila's previous sexual experiences had been pretty awful). I don't know if they're supposed to be communicating the awkwardness of a new relationship, or if this is a recurring issue for FC that it takes a while for him to warm up to his costars? In any case, Ric and Cami certainly made up the difference later on. No complaints about the chemistry by the end of Pasion, that's for sure.

...of course, if all five of Montserrat's kids have different fathers, that's even funnier.

Or maybe Santi was left on their doorstep with a note.

GinCA: Dam doesn't have to die in order for Ed and Fer to get married in the church, because that marriage was never consummated!

Sandy: Pris doesn't have to end up with Vlad or have a miscarriage. She could very possibly end up raising the child alone, like Isadora did in a similar situation in Destilando Amor.

However, if Vlad has an attack of conscience and confesses all to the Elizaldes and the police, then maybe he won't have to die a gruesome, fiery death like Isadora's baby-daddy did.

Anon 4:05 - I don't think you missed anything - the envelope seemed to be meant for Padre Bosco, so hopefully we'll see FrEd give it to him soon. (Don't know if the padre will tell FrEd or us what's inside, though!)

Yes, it shouldn't be too hard to get the annulment of Fernanda's marriage. Ed and Fer will already have Padre Bosco on their side, so it will be a good start on getting the annulment. :)

Too many crazy ideas on who are the mamas and the papas for me. Agree with Maggarita, Carlos must already be enjoying MillerTime. :)

JeffMN

Hey, it's beer:30 somewhere!

Carlos, if Eduardo and Lili are both Soledad's offspring by different fathers, doesn't that make her a little too round heeled for our saintly nanny.

Maggarita and Jeff, thanks for your gracious votes of confidence. We'll see. Novelera, remember the saintly Eva(I think that was her name) in FELS? Sometimes passion clouds good judgement. Also, Soledad's well-meant actions have resulted in a lot of the current angst and confusion. Carlos

It looked to me that Aurora recognized Artemio. He didn't really look like Gonzo even though they are supposed to be the same actor.

Adolfina isn't estupida, she knows that Babs & Dr. O are in cahoots, so I doubt she buys the "Lili fell doing the salsa thing".

The kissing will pick up some speed until sth happens to cause mistrust. FC could kiss me anyway that he wants, just do it!

Probably the hatred that Artemio has is over a woman, isn't it always? Bet it's not over Monserrat, who would want her except Gonzo. Although in an Eduardo flashback when gilipolla Camilo pushed Soledad in the pool & Monserrat thought is was funny, she was a very pretty blond. Probably the Gonzo Monserrat thing was a marriage between wealthy families & Gonzo found real love with someone that Artemio wanted too or even his wife.

Fr/Ed doesn't know what the Artemio, Rebeca thing is all about except that he put 1.5 mil in her acct. & Artemio wants to kill Padre. But he doesn't know how or why it all started.

Tks Pasofina. I couldn't get the recap until after 4:00 EST, but I noticed others commenting around 9am. Any idea why?

Carlos, I agreed with you on Tontas, so I had to disagree over here to balance things out. :)
One thing I'll give you about Soledad is that I think way back when they were kids, Gonzo and Soledad were Ed and Nanda of their day. However, they separated into their respective classes like they are supposed to do. That is why Gonzo always had a soft spot for Soledad because they used to love each other. Now, I don't think there were any kids as a result of that.

Finally back to read the latest comments . HA ! You guys are cracking me up ! ''It's beer:30 somewhere.'' Connie, I've got to write that down. Defending Carlos...I got a headache reading your list, but it could happen. Maybe Monserrat got jiggy with Error's daddy back in the day. You know...big neighborhood picnic...a little too much tequila...things happen. Maybe Error, Fern, and Santi share a daddy. I think Art is Fr/ed's daddy as in ''Luke, I am your father.''..insert heavy breathing here. Lili might be Soledad's because Monserrat was always supernasty to her compared to the way she treated the other children. Mean Cad and dopey Any?balls seem to have sprung from the loins of Mon and Gonz. ~~~ Susanlynn, feeling sunny because the sun FINALLY came out at 2.00 this afternoon

Variopinta, Pasofino needs to have someone tag it for him before it will show up in delicious off of the sidebar. However, you can start commenting as soon as it shows up in the main CarayCaray blog. But... another thing today, I assumed it was just me, maybe not, is that when I go to delicious, sometimes this latest episode is there and sometimes it isn't. I assume my browser is acting up today. Could be something else if you didn't see it until late today.

Maybe Art and Gonz both loved Soledad , but she didn't end up with either of them because they were of a higher class. Padre probably was their padre when they were all younguns back in the day so he knows all the secrets between these three. Lili is older , so maybe Gonz and Soledad were in love and Soledad got pregnant with Lili, but Gonz's parents made him marry Monserrat and Lili was raised as their child. Perhaps, later on , Art raped Soledad , and Eduardo was the result. There is a photo in a frame that's supposed to be Eduardo's father according to Soledad , but it could be the photo that came in the frame. Jesus Lopez ! What am I doing ? Well, I don't drink Miller, but here at my haciendo it's wine cooler time. Adios and Happy Fafy Cuenca to all.

I do remember a picture of Fr/Ed father in Soledad's house, Fr/Ed picked it up. I know that doesn't really mean anything, but if it's Gonz or Artemio, it should show some resemblance. And of course it doesn't mean that guy is Fr/Ed's father.

Susanlynn clearly you've seen the occasional TN and realize that the most preposterous theory(especially in regard to parentage) is often the most likely and rarely are things always as they appear to be. Carlos

Martina was not with Liliana because she was with Venus talking to Steve.

I told you guys that Artemio Bravo was not disfigured. With all the drama about him being mysterious in the shadows, imaginations run wild. No worries.

I still am not sold that he is related to Gonzalo Elizalde until there is further evidence that says so. Who is senor Bravo(Artemio's father) then? What is the relation to the Elizalde's? I will patiently wait until all is revealed.

I really ROLFLMAO (Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off) at Santiago dressed as the neighbor. I even thought he was impersonating Dominga for a second. The *Coughcoughcough* by Santiago and Artemio's backpedal was priceless. I loved it. Interesting also was the sudden about face and abrupt departure by Artemio with the goons moving quickly to open the door as well.

Like most of you, I agree that Aurora meant something to Artemio. I don't know what though. Could it be Artemio raping Barbara then getting her pregnant and hiding her child from her and blackmailing her into doing efvil things? Who knows?

Priscilla repeatedly telling Vladimir to shut up was another classic priceless moment. Loved the double slap in the past episode too. Damian screwed up that's why he was exposed. Priscilla must be thinking that she is ina room with 2 fools. Extreme anger and frustration will definitely make a pregnant woman have pains like Priscilla is experiencing.

And now we go to the star crossed lovers. Ed/FR and The lovely and beautiful Fernanda. Just reveal all to Fernanda already and stop this ridiculous charade. You both love each other so stop playing. If not I'll have Fernanda. ;) J/k.

Camilo is a useless prodigal son. Laughing at everything even if it is not funny. He was not in this episode but I'm just saying....
Perhaps he should be called the Hyena. Lol.

Vladimir's set up of Flor is complete. Anibal bought it hook, sinker and line.... So now that hse is fired, will she also work at Las Animas?
Intersting episode. And I recorded it right. Very good recap as alweays Pasofino. Gracias.

The only photo of significance is Anibal's look alike ancestor. Strange that I'm the only one who sees this. I'm waiting for it ot be resolved. Somewhere down the line there must be an answer to that.

Soledad and Gonzo were Eddy and Fer, one generation ago.

Artemio is Gonzo's brother, and also lusted after Soledad.

Sole and Gonz separated due to class boundaries.

Eddy's daddy Juarez was someone that interloped between Arty and Soledad, but fathered Rebeca Sanchez, as well as Eddy, they are half siblings. She killed him (Juarez)and her mommy for whatever reason, but that pleased Artemio, as she exacted his revenge on Juarez. Aurora is the bastard child of a very young Rebeca, who was told she died at birth by Arty, who removed her to protect her from Rebeca, already proven to be a genetically bad apple, hoping to save her from the nature part of the equation, not fully understanding that the nuturing from the very wet nurse, Dominga would not be up to present day standards.

I just can't believe that no one else can see what is so obvious...

Hey, how did Any?balls know that the meeting minutes were in the hands of the competition? I missed something there...

Touché, Dave. ITA.

Hmmm...I just had a thought [run for cover]. Remember the post here awhile ago about limiting kissing in the novelas to ''essential'' kissing during the flu outbreak in Mexico? Could that be why we haven't seen much kissing in this show ? I am still wrestling with the concept of ''essential'' and ''nonessential'' kissing. ~~~Susanlynn, sending an essential kiss X

DD, already been to happy hour...just kidding. I also wondered how Anyballs received the stolen information...was it in that binder given to him by someone in the other company (forgot its name) or did he solely go by Vlad's words? GinCA

Variopinta and Jeff: Thanks for the explanations about accessing the recap. I posted it before 9:00 a.m. CST and JudyB tagged it to the sidebar. Anyway, I'm glad you did get to read it.

Dave: Your parentage theories are fabulous.

You people are way ahead of me in devloping family trees - or as Carlos(?) wrote - it's more of an orchard.

DDave, no fair reading ahead. Actually I like yours as well as well as Susanlynn's...now, wanna pass me those peanuts? Carlos.

I have posted this before; I'll post it again:

Go to this URL and bookmark it:
http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

New recaps show up here sooner than they show up on Delicious because it is the direct feed from blogger/blogspot. Yes, it lists all of the recaps regardless of the telenovela, but since it only gives the first few lines of each recap, it doesn't take long to figure out if there's something new.

As for why you sometimes see a recap in Delicious and then it seems to disappear, it's because Delicious is sometimes a bit flaky.

Clicking F5 should refresh the page, but if something still seems to be amiss, the problem is probably NOT on your end.

Just a friendly recommendation, You guys might want to bookmark the homepage of Caray Caray.

What I always do is to check caray caray then I go to the side bar to see if a new recap is posted. If not, then I check the latest postings of the novela i'm following. In this case MEPS.

Lol at Steve saying action de selos instead of saying Gardenioa is Selosa...

Ibarramedia

I'm pretty sure that Vlad just told Anibal that the info came from Pris's family company, and Anibal just blinding believed him. Remember, Vlad also said he used to work there, and Anibal never checked that, either.

Blindly, not blinding.

What is this "Delicious" you all go to for the recaps here? I have
http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/
bookmarked and it's always up to date.

???

Doris, when you click on the sidebar of Caraycaray.blogspot.com it takes you to the delicious site which is linked by blogspot. Apparently Melinama set it up that way. Some people use delicious as a stand alone blog.

Thanks Ibarramedia. I found it.

Thanks Ibarramedia. I found it.

"Very wet nurse Dominga" - LOL, DD!

Argh!! All this family tree stuff is giving me a headache. I think, for once, that I'm not even going to try to guess. I'll let the story figure it out!

I don't think the flu epidemic is the reason for less kissing in this telenovela - remember that we're already three months behind Mexico and they usually shoot a few (six or so?) weeks ahead of that. The article about the flu-induced kissing cutbacks was maybe two months ago at most.

But it probably means we'll be seeing less of the kissing in a month or two when we'd normally expect to see more. :(

However, if anyone can deal creatively and romantically with a kissing embargo, it's the telenovela people!

re Cousin Marriages mentioned earlier

I don't know what the deal is in this novela, nor what the rules are in Mexico, nor what the Catholic church position is, but in the United States through 1700, and in many places in the world even today, first cousin marriages were, and are, acceptable and not considered incest.

Prohibitions against cousin marriages are a relatively recent phenomonen in World History, and generally only occur in developed countries where populations have moved to urban areas from rural areas. Twenty states still allow cousin marriages.

From

http://www.ncsl.org/default.aspx?tabid=4266

"State Laws Regarding Marriages Between First Cousins

Twenty-five states prohibit marriages between first cousins. Six states allow first cousin marriage under certain circumstances, and North Carolina allows first cousin marriage but prohibits double-cousin marriage. States generally recognize marriages of first cousins married in a state where such marriages are legal."

Silverfox

Whether it's legal or not, cousin-lust doesn't seem to be acceptable in a Mexican telenovela. In Mundo de Fieras, one couple briefly broke up in abject horror when told that they were cousins.

Turned out they really weren't cousins, so they got together again. However, based on their reaction, I'd say it's a deal-breaker.

(Actually, Paulina took it badly, but JC didn't seem ready to give up... so maybe it would still be doable for some couples...)

Also, sometimes a telenovela's storyline has us thinking that a couple might unknowingly be cousins, but then it NEVER turns out to be true. This suggests to me that it's still not seen as acceptable.

Can anyone think of a telenovela where cousins did the deed?

Seems like the recap has been a bit delayed, so permit me to venture out a little to start things off. We begin with the unwarranted dismissal of Flor. In Texas I expect that Jim Adler would be more than happy to take he case. She'd possibly end up owning GL. OK now we're with the predestined couple. Charles Schultz said it best in the Peanuts specials..."wah wah wah." Oh, things are looking up, he reaches out his right hand in friendship and clasps her R hand. Uh oh this is looking more than friendly. Now he's touching her cheek with his left hand ( we really shouldn't be spying on this). Oh jeez, now he pulls her face in fixes his eyes in hers, OMG, now he's moving in for the kill. He reaches out his lower lip, she her upper, they touch ... crap, now a gentle but full-strength kiss. Opps, nobody meant it, a mistake, it didn't happen... ¡POR FAVOR! OK, now let's sit on the sofa..."wah wah wah". Thank goodness, this is much better, Martina and Venus on the porch...

Carlos, you are too funny! Yes, they still think they are 15. I am surprised that you didn't have any comments about poor Dolly (just kidding). I could not believe that really bizarre scene with the mini bullfighter outfit. Maybe it was meant as a product placement for Jack In the Box "Mini Vaca" burger.

rsk

OK, these cuties are flourishing in the fresh country air." Not a bad gig these ricos have," more or less observes Venus (dang, she's cute and intelligent, too. Martina point out that Gardenia is a bit territorial. Que the hell, what is Sanducky? I could folloup on the Dewey theme ,but won't. Deni quejas to Esteve about the lovely ladies on the porch. He's amused. Back to the annointed ones, wah wah wah. OK here's Ironsides, miraculosly ambulatory, exitinf his Hummer, Babs is there. She gives him the GL and PM contract. BFD, apparently. Carlos

rsk, thanks , I just was prixately warming up in case I ever have to jump in and recap. It really is kind of fun. I really don't want to step on any feet, however. Carlos

I just created a page for Friday's show, and I pasted your comments there. Now you can continue your conversation on that page. I'll e-mail Jardinera.

Carlos, I think you are more than ready to recap. I always enjoy your intelligent, witty comments.

I thought about you yesterday when a friend sent me a very funny email about a doctor and dangling participles.

I am afraid that our lovely Denia is going to need a new gig - Ed/Fer was not at all happy with her attitude about Esteve's new bevy of beauties. I was LOL about Esteve's description of her as a fire breathing dragon. I guess she now the Dragon Lady.

rsk
