Mañana es Para Siempre, Tuesday, July 14--Ep #106: An action-packed night for the Elizaldes, et al.

¡Hola, todos! My name is 5ftLatina. You killed my…no, wait, wrong line. Anyway, I'm taking over Tuesdays for Melissa. Not because I'm a nice person, mind you, because I'm EVIL and she provided me with a convenient excuse to continue my bid for world domination. Wahahahaha!

So, last night when we left off, Franco and Fernanda were getting stopped by the cops, Damian was bleeding out, Aurora was being drugged, and Barbara was still wearing plaid. Which even I don't know if she can really pull off. Does wonders for the legs, but not so much the behind.

So, after drugging Aurora, Camilo offers to keep her company until she passes out.

Franco thanks Fernanda for her offer to go with him, but tells her to let him go to the police station alone. She insists on going along to support him. She gets a call on her phone from Erika and remembers that Erika has an uncle who has some pull and could maybe help Franco out. He declines, saying he doesn't want Fernanda to say anything to Erika. Just because. The cop comes back to Franco's window and says they need to follow him. Fer's phone just keeps on ringing. Wow, those are some awfully trusting cops. As they drive, Franco keeps trying to explain why he doesn't want Erika to know--what will they say? How will they explain it? Fernanda says they can just make something up. She assumes that what Franco doesn't want Erika to know is that they were together. Franco says he has "personal" reasons, he's really engaged to Erika and they're going to get married. Dun dun dun!

Erika leaves Fer a message and a request to return her call. Here comes the maid with product placement. Oh, no, this time it's just a lemonade. Erika asks her what she thinks of the name "Santoro." The maid, and I kid you not, I could not have made up something this cheesy, says it makes her think of a saint, but a really strong saint, like a bull. Erika says he sure is vigorous, like a bull. Mhm, I'm smelling some bull.

Aurora's drugs are kicking in and her vision gets blurry. She lies down and Camilo comments that her fear is gone now, isn't it. He pulls her up and takes her jacket off, which is pretty difficult since she's so limp. That doesn't deter him from taking her top off too. Then he gets rid of his jacket and starts taking off her skirt. She mumbles "What are you doing?" and he says he's just trying to help her get comfortable. Aw, crap. There goes the skirt. She's having a hard time keeping her eyes open.

At the police station, Fernanda says Erika's a great gal and Franco's very lucky. The cop asks Franco to follow him into an office behind the desk. Fernanda grouses that he really meant it and he's going to marry Erika. Her phone rings again, but she declines to listen to her voice mail. She does take the call from Santiago, though, and says "¿Cómo?"

Santiago is still out on the street, explaining to her that Damian got shot in the leg and lost a lot of blood, but Santi applied a tourniquet and is taking Damian to the Cruz Roja (Red Cross). Fernanda says she'll be there as soon as she can and to call her if anything happens. Um, right, because being shot wasn't enough of "something" happening? Damian tells Santiago that he (Damian) is going to die. Santi tells him not to worry and drives off.

Eek! Camilo has himself and Aurora both naked and under the covers. I'm not sure if his heavy breathing is because he was actually poco hombre enough to take advantage of her or because it was hard getting her into that compromising position while she was acting like a sack of potatoes.

Fer hangs up the phone as Franco comes out of the office. He tells her once they send the bitácora (the log, I guess of who the car has been rented to), everything will be cleared up. Fer said Erika is on her way to get them and she needed to do it because she's got to get out of there as quickly as possible. She tells him that Santi called to say that Damian had been shot. Franco looks so disbelieving that Fernanda has to add "¡en serio!"

Camilo's not above copping a feel, whatever else he actually did. He says he may actually be up to giving her a proper goodbye and starts kissing her. She asks what's happening and then says something about being able to breathe, then she says "Santiago." This cools Camilo off, that even drugged-up she's still thinking about Santi. Or perhaps I should say, that even drugged-up she still doesn't want his sorry orange ass.

Santiago carries Damian into the hospital. A doc tells Santiago to stay put as two nurses put Damian on a gurney and wheel him away. Santiago is left out in the lobby to wait.

Barbara is waiting in the hallway outside Aurora's room. She can't resist and runs in to turn the light on and "bust" them. I guess the drugging has passed, because Aurora sits up, wondering QTH just happened. Barbara says she knew this would happen ever since Aurora got there. Camilo drags Barbara out of the room. In the hallway, he tells that when she does whatever she means to do, she'd better not involve him. Barb says that stepmothers are more "discrete" than mothers. What does that mean? Barbara storms back into the room. Aurora cries that she doesn't remember what happened. Barbara tells her that what Camilo did salta a la vista (is obvious)--he slept with her.

Erika arrives at the police station and Fer explains that Franco's rental car was mistaken for one involved in a robbery, and also Damian's been shot. Franco comes up and Erika tries to greet him with a kiss, but Fernanda pulls her away and says they called her so she could ask her uncle to help them. Franco refuses and says if they just wait a little while, the rental agency will clear everything up. Erika suddenly asks why the two of them were together. Fernanda and Franco look so guilty that she probably shouldn't believe any excuse from them, but of course, we all know she will.

Aurora is getting her shoes on as Barbara asks what Aurora did to end up alone with Camilo. Where is Santiago? Aurora explains he got a call, Damian called. Aurora can't even stand up and it looks like she's dizzy. She says her head hurts and she doesn't know what happened, but she needs air. Barbara yells at her that she treated Aurora like a daughter and Aurora betrayed her confidence. She starts throwing Aurora's clothes out of the closet and tells her to pack.

Franco spins a tale about needing to go visit the architect and that they didn't invite her because they went to the architect directly from the board meeting. A cop comes to tell Erika her uncle's on the phone (it sounded at first like they said his last name was "Obregon" but I don't think it is…I just couldn't make out what it actually was). Franco and Fernanda give each other annoyed looks for the BS they had to tell Erika. Fer says he must feel really, really bad about lying to her, since he's going to marry her and all. What's she talking about? Lies are the basis of every successful marriage: "You look great in that." "This tastes delicious." "I love your mother." Best he gets started early.

At the Cruz Roja, Santiago calls the house from his cell phone. Aurora is sitting on the floor zipping up a duffle bag. Barbara sees the caller ID and tells Aurora it's Santiago and orders her to tell him that she's got a cold and is going to bed early. It still looks like she's having trouble standing. Aurora answers the phone and obeys. Santi tells her that Damian's been hurt, but it's nothing serious and Fer is already on her way. After she hangs up, Aurora asks Barbara if they can talk, she says again that she didn't do anything, she swears it. She says it's as if her body wouldn't obey, she was paralyzed and couldn't talk. Barbara says that's not what it looked like when she came in. Aurora weeps into the bed and Barbara takes the opportunity to look like the smug, cold-hearted bitch she is. Really, how she doesn't let those looks escape more often is beyond me. She thought bubbles "Suffer, you wretch!" Aurora asks her if she's going to tell Santiago. Barbara says that would be the worst thing she could tell him. Barbara says that if Aurora loves him, then they'll make a deal to protect him.

Back at the club, some other guy is hitting on Venus, aka Lovely. Camilo comes back and postures at the other guy, who backs off instantly. Lovely says the important thing is that she didn't pay any attention to the guy. She says that Uncle Steve has been calling, but she hasn't answered.

Aurora tells Barbara that she can explain to Santiago. Barbara says Santiago could take it if Aurora slept with anyone, except for Camilo and this would break his heart. "Is that what you want, descarada?" (shameless woman) Aurora says she doesn't know what happened, it was like she was asleep, she felt drunk (I bet all the women Camilo has actually slept with say the same thing). She begs Barbara to believe her. Barbara insists that Santiago would never get over it…unless they didn't tell him. Barbara says it hurts her that the only woman Santiago has ever believed in has ended up with his brother. Barbara tells Aurora to cut the drama--if Aurora stays, Barbara will tell Santiago, but if she leaves, she won't tell him anything.

Santiago talks to Fer. He says he has no idea what happened, that Damian called and said some guys were following him and asked Santi to come get him. Fer tells him she should be there soon and asks how Santiago is. He says the fright passed and he's fine.

Barbara tells Aurora not to worry about Santiago, he'll be fine without her. She tells Aurora to take her stuff and go. She threatens that if she's not out of there by the time Santiago gets home, then before Aurora can tell him any of her "lies", Barbara will let him know just what kind of trash Aurora is.

It appears that Franco has provided the cops with his really really for realz driver's license because he kind of shushes the cop who's confirming that he thanks "Mr. Juarez" for cooperating with them. Mr., ahem, Juarez, replies that he's just doing his civic duty.

Fer tells Erika that Damian is still in surgery. Erika says they'll go right over to the Cruz Roja as soon as they're done there. Franco comes up and says that everything's taken care of. Erika says "great--now we've got to take Fer down to the Red Cross." Fer balks, but Erika insists--she'll drive Fer and Franco will follow in his car. Erika hustles them all out of there, even hissing to Franco that he'd better grab Fernanda's hand or she'll just keep standing there. Like a chain of third graders on a field trip, they leave the police station.

At the Grupo Lactos offices, Gonzalo is fretting that Obregon still hasn't called. Anibal comes over to check in and asks Gonzalo to come have dinner with him. Gonzalo says he's got to keep waiting for Obregon. Anibal opines that if Gonzalo just quits playing ball and tells Obregon that he won't get a cent out of them, Obregon will let Lili go. Gonzalo is astounded that Anibal would risk his sister's life that way. Anibal replies that she killed his mother and he's never going to forgive her for it. He says Lili killed his mommy with her own two hands and she's a curse on the Elizalde family. He says that's why he never wanted to have a child, because he didn't want it to carry the cursed blood of "that murderer". Wow. That's pretty deep for Anibal. Gonzalo looks shocked.

Pris and Rolando are at dinner. Rolando says he was terribly embarrassed to find out from Gonzalo that the whole industrial espionage thing tracked back to Jaime. Rolando says he's especially embarrassed that he told Anibal that he'd get to the bottom of it himself. Rolando says he'll be reporting it to the cops tomorrow. Pris says this isn't like Rolando, he's not vengeful. Rolando says it's not vengeance, it's ethics. Pris says the important thing is that Flor has been cleared. But Rolando says he's got to punish Jaime to show the Elizaldes that he doesn't approve of that kind of behavior. Pris says she's sure the kid learned his lesson and the Elizaldes never asked for his head on a platter, so really, they should just let it go. Rolando looks doubtful.

Aurora is packed and comes downstairs. Barbara tells her to get out. Aurora says "You'll never forgive me, will you?" Barb says that's absolutely right. Aurora says, "And what if I told you I saw you and Damian doing the nasty?" Barb says that's exactly why Aurora doesn't have a chance. She tells Aurora not to make her waste her time. Aurora asks Barbara to leave Santiago a note she wrote. She promises that it just says she's leaving and she's sorry. Barbara reads it over and seems to soften. Then she pushes Aurora out the door as a storm starts outside. Aurora asks if she's going to give Santi the note, but Barb says it's none of her business and shuts the door. Barbara stands there, breathing heavily, like she's not sure if what just happened is a good thing or not. I mean, if she really thinks Aurora was doing it with Artemio, then isn't she risking that Aurora will go running to Artemio now and Babs will get in trouble for hiding her from him?

At the Cruz Roja, Fer asks Santi what the docs have to say. Nothing yet, but here comes a doctor. Fernanda asks how her husband is doing. The doc says that the operation was successful, but only because Santi stopped the bleeding. Fer thanks him, but Santi says anyone would have done the same in his place. How wrong is that statement, let me count the ways. Fer asks to see Damian and the doctor says once he's gotten to a room, a nurse will come get him. Erika asks about his recovery and the doc says it will be quick because the bullet didn't hit the bone. Fer thanks the doc. Santiago notices Franco and comes over to say hello. Erika comes to Velcro herself to Franco's arm and giddily says that Damian's going to be fine because the bullet knew anatomy (ja, ja, ja). Franco says he's truly happy about it, which gets Fer's hackles up. So now she has to put on a show of "I don't care that you're going to marry Erika because I've already got a husband, so there!" by asking the doctor if she could please arrange it so that she can see Damian sooner. Erika hangs all over Franco as Santiago looks back and forth between Fernanda and Franco and makes a face like he smells something. Fernanda and Franco cast smoldering glances at each other. I guess Santi's smelling the smell of lust.

Thus reads Aurora's note (and it's written very neatly for someone so upset): "Santiago, I'm a coward because I didn't have the guts to say goodbye to you. If you really love me, please don't come looking for me, because ours is a hopeless love. There's no sense in explaining the reasons why I'm leaving because you'd never understand them. Forgive me for causing you this pain. I'll always remember you as the most beautiful thing that could have happened to me in my life. God bless you always. Aurora." Barbara sniffs sarcastically, then sets the note on fire. Yep, she's so evil, she even has an ashtray on hand. Barbara says the devil granted her wish to bring Aurora to her so she could squash her. It will be as if she never existed. She watches the note burn.

Lovely cries to Tío Steve over the phone that she's at a bar and she didn't hear the ring, it's too loud, she's with a friend, why is he yelling at her when she isn't doing anything wrong, she only called to tell him she's on her way home, why is he always asking if she wants to leave his house. Camilo is concerned and asks what happened. Lovely says that, basically, Tío Steve just disowned her. Camilo says he doesn't think Steve was serious. Lovely says Tío Steve's never talked to her like that before. Camilo says her Tío Steve is behaving like Lovely's not even a member of his family. Right, cause he'd know so much about normal family relationships.

Aurora walks away from Casa Elizalde and into the woods. In the rain, no less.

Lovely cries to Camilo that's she's scared and doesn't know what's going to happen now. Camilo says he'll protect her and support her. Plus, she can stay at his apartment if she needs to. Lovely says no way, if she doesn't go home, she'll never be able to go back again. Camilo asks if she doesn't have any other family. Lovely says her parents died in an accident and the only close family member she has is Tío Steve. Camilo tells her that she's got him now and he won't let anyone hurt her. Lovely says he might regret taking her home tomorrow. Camilo insists. Lovely thanks him for being so kind to her, even though he barely knows her. Camilo says she can see her new apartment whenever she likes. Lovely turns off the waterworks and smiles at him. So, was this Esteve's plan or hers?

Erika comments to Franco that Santiago is an excellent painter. Franco says he'd guess that Santi's been at it since he was a kid. Santi mentions sitting out by the lake painting and Franco remembers it and grins that he can clearly imagine it. Erika says she can't stop thinking about how Damian owes him one now. Santi says he just hopes Damian will be a better person now.

In his hospital bed, Fer tells Damian what Santi said about calling him and asks where Damian was. Damian says he was drinking in a bar and some guys followed him and that in trying to get away from them, he ended up on the outskirts of the city. They asked him for his car keys and since he wouldn't hand them over, they shot him. He doesn't remember anything after that. Fer asks why he was alone, at a bar, drinking? Damian says it's because what's happening between them is burning his soul--her distrust, the condemnation of her family, the fear that they're still thinking he's a thief, and their "marriage of lies." Wow, shot in the thigh and he can still think about getting her in the sack. Talk about a one track mind.

Barbara lounges in bed in her robe and talks to Gonzalo on the phone. She says he's right, Obregon was screwing with them and he just called Babs and told her that he'll call tomorrow with further instructions. Babs tells him she's waiting for him, but to be careful because it's raining a cántaros (pouring). And that, unfortunately, is where my DVR cut off.

Also, unfortunately, one of our most disputed characters did not appear in this episode, but in tribute to the bubi-licious Gardenia and those who love her despite her naughty, naughty ways, I offer the following ditty:

"The way you wear your shirts
To show your DD's
I still believe they're real
No, no, they can't take that away from me!

I may never, never have a way
To prove those bubis are true
But I'll always, always thank you for the view!

I love your mammaries
That gorgeous eye candy
Headlights that haunt my dreams
No, no, they can't take that away from me!
They can't take that away from me!"

Gracias, and good night!

Kind of a serious night, but I hope I injected an appropriate dose of humor :)

Kat:
You did a great job on the re-cap, but what a downer episode. I hated the scenes with Camilo and Aurora. How ugly! Camilo is completely beyond redemption, now. What a dirtbag!
The rainstorm was ominous and Barbara seems to be "winning" her hideous game. Ay ayi ayi! This is definately the nadir of the telenovela for me.

Kat, fabulous recap. A 10 on the snarkometer!

Well, we were right. Damn plays right along with Babs plot and doesn't accuse her of shooting him, and that's right after coming out of surgery.

Pretty dark and heavy scenes with Aurora. Ack! I saw another episode of a TN this same night where another slimy toad proceeds to drug, disrobe, and have simulated sex with an attractive woman. This one used the old Feo standby from FELS, not a rag but women's underpants soaked in, I suppose, ether. Are all these writers and directors big-time perverts?

Barbara is beginning to gain on if not surpass Crabi in FELS. Burning the letter was the last straw. Giving Santiago the letter would have done no harm. At least Feo gave us a laugh along with his maldades. And at least Crabi cared about someone; i.e., Feo.

I'm pretty tired of Fernanda and Fr/Ed alternatively fuming jealously and behaving like sixth graders.

Does anyone have an idea how many days the old caretaker has been at the bottom of the hill? We should start a countdown á la Day 22 at the bottom of the hill, Day 23, etc.

Oh, and what was I thinking!!! Forgot to mention the custom lyrics to You Can't Take That Away From Me. FABULOUS!!

Just a medical note, If you find that you need to apply a tourniquet, put it above the wound, not on top of or below the wound, As far as I could see, Santi's tourniquet was useless. Nice of him to try though.

I agree with Elna June, a downer, ugly episode.

Kat, great recap, with my favorite items, vocabulary words. The lyrics were creative and FUNNY.

Thanks Kat, your recap was much better than the episode. I just mute when Abora is on and do a little paperwork. Last night I got a lot of work done...

5ft Latina, BRAVO!

This was a nasty episode to recap, Kat. Your funny rendition of "They Can't Take That Away From Me" at the end really helped.

A dear young woman, whom I've known since birth, was drugged and raped by a college bartender so this episode was a nightmare for me. I felt somehow as if the writers were exploiting a very ugly element of life today just for the viewers' titillation.

I appreciate your efforts to lighten the tone of the whole recap because it was certainly a downer.

I thought Venus, with her new makeover and "prepping," was supposed to unfold into a sophisticated, more intelligent woman. She's playing a stupid, silly woman and this plot turn, along with Abora, is getting on my last nerve. Enough already of the sniveling nonsense.

Thanks so much, Kat. Your witty recap did a lot to take away the bad taste left by that episode.

Aurora really got to me with that horrible scene. I thought the actress did a good job and I'm usually one who ff's her scenes. Camilo is beyond redemption now, and Bab's worst punishment will be when she finds out who Aurora really is. After all, the witch knows about the Rebecca Sanchez connection. Well, Artemio knows also but I doubt he'd ever tell Barbara. Poor Santiago. He just doesn't deserve all the angst. I wonder what Barbara is going to tell him.

It was interestng they showed a human side of Anibal yesterday. Maybe he'll be the one with the redemption arc.

Jackie

5 ft. Latina!! Great recap, girl. Did you write that little boobie verse? Fun-ny! Lots of equally funny observations:

". . awfully trusting cops." Must not be enough traffic copters and 24 hour newscasts to make fleeing the cops more fun!

"Barbara says Santiago could take it if Aurora slept with anyone. ." I think she actually said a whole battalion! Hee hee!

Anyballs not wanting his child to "carry the cursed blood of "that murderer". Yeah, but you're not above lusting after your daddy's wife who is the actual murderer.

Seems like some back-plotting on the writer's part with Barb -- she hated Aurora before she found out that Aurora caught her with her drawers down. . .convenient remembering it now! where was that vision of hanky panky-when Barb was feeding you that bull about being haunted!

"Fernanda and Franco cast smoldering glances at each other." I guess Santi's smelling the smell of lust." Guess he wasn't around enough to smell the reek of lust coming from Step Mommy, Damian and Cadmil-ho.

Aurora's note (and it's written very neatly for someone so upset): Hee hee, noticed that too!

"Lovely turns off the waterworks and smiles at him. So, was this Esteve's plan or hers?" Really, Venus is a working girl and I can so see her taking a detour for her own advantage instead of being Esteve's puppet. Damian's not the only one with a one track mind, Cad-ho got boody on the brain so badly, he's stomaching her awwwful acting, yuuuck!

Finally, I think that pile of smegma did rape Abora but even if he, say, had a rare attack of guilt or couldn't get it up and couldn't complete, I can't see Santi with this stooopid girl. I think she is doomed just like her mommy dearest. Can't figure out who they'll hook Santi up with, though: maybe Erika, his first luuv.

Thanks, Latina for a fun recap of an action-packed night.

Kat: OMG, your recap was just wonderful, especially considering the episode was excruciating to watch. Your humor, snark & complimentary song lyrics certainly brightened my mood...muchisimas gracias, bella mia! (doing my best to mangle SpanItalian)

Shades of FELS last night, complete with Crabby Redux. Babs & NaranHo are certainly vying for the MDV award (Most Despicable Villain) & I came very close to switching channels. Violence, abuse & rape are NOT entertainment.

Dam is a horndog who will only want Nanda until he gets her. Maybe gangrene will set in & they'll have to amputate his schlong.

I guess Pasion was the exception rather than the rule in TNs. Bummer.

Kat, great recap and so funny. I almost spit coffee and donuts on my computer! The scene with Cadmil-ho and Abora was almost to awful to watch. It really upset me. Was it my imagination or was Abora walking through Rape Forest? It looked really familiar.

Somebody needs to seriously put the smackdown on Cad. He is just a waste of good air.

I was having a hard time buying Lovely's crying. No beautiful woman would waste her makeup by crying in public like that. How do they keep it from streaking? :-}

Thanks, 5ft, for that excellent, funny recap of a not-so-funny episode. After a long , frustrating day at work, I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up about 9.30 to see Rolando and Pris dining and discussing . Thank goodness I slept through the Aurora/Camilo stuff---I don't want to see a dramatic reenactment of something that happens to too many young girls in reality. Awful. However, I am sorry that I missed Fr'ed, Fer, and Er grasping hands and leaving the police station ''like a chain of third graders.'' That I would have enjoyed seeing. Also, I caught Fr'ed sending stern looks in Fer's direction in the hospital , but I missed Santi sniffing the air...is that teen spirit?...no....Lust is in the air. I appreciated your description of Er ''Velcroing'' herself to Fr'ed. Perfect description. And Barb is bad in plaid after the cad makes Aurora believe that she's been had. Sorry...I couldn't stop myself. Finally, the song at the end of your recap was great. Is it dedicated to anyone in particular ??? [ wink...wink ] About enhanced assests...I'm sure we all want to believe that those baseball players' arm muscles are all naturally the size of tree trunks, too.

The hand-holding was so funny! They did look like a bunch of third-graders going out to recess.

I can't stand to watch Erika hanging all over Fr/Ed. My boyfriend won't even let me hold his hand in public.

Fantastic recap Kat! Thank you so much for taking over for me. I really missed doing the recap last night but my recapping days are on hold until the first of the year.

Camilo is d-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g! That whole heavy breathing, wow, oh wow, thing after he did the deed with Aurora made me want to be sick.

Loved the Denia bubi song too! Hilarious!

Great recap, Kat, and THANK YOU! Comcast went out with ten minutes to go of this epsiode. I'll bet my BLF didn't record, either. Internet was down, too. (And they wonder why I won't give them my phone service . . .)

LOVE the song lyrics. My brain switched immediately to my Michael Bublé CD, I could hear him singing your lyrics, and in this case I'll spell it:
Michael Booblé. ;-)

Connie – looked like Rape Forest to me, too! Funny that we recognized it. LOL

Camilo is just plain vile. That whole scene was disgusting. Telenovela rules definitely call for him to suffer at the end.

I thought Barbara wanted Cam to seduce Aurora. Isn't that why she gave him the drops? If so, why did she turn on him? But he looked quite guilty when Babs walked in on them, he didn't defend himself. I am SO confused.....

Yeah, too bad that Barbara didn't shoot Damian's "member" (shout-out to Austin Powers) instead of his thigh. Maybe she hopes to see it again in the future. Self-centered interests, and all that...

Kat, you were on fire last night. A truly spectacular recap. The song? Well I think it speaks volumes for several of us here of the varonil persuasion. Well done. To bad there was no DDenia to look at last night.

Until last night I was starting to dislike Camilo a little less. I could never forgive him for what he did to Erica, but he was becoming more of a joke than a big league baddy. No more. He has advanced to the top of my list of swine ripe for harvesting. I would have thought that his macho pride and self-esteem would never permit him to carry out such a despicable plot. I was wrong. Off with his head!

"Call me if anything happens." Hmm, wonder with whom Nanda's priorities lie?

Carlos

Tks 5ft for a great recap.

don't know why Santiago wouldn't call 060, the Mexican 911

I did see the name Obregon on the captions & wondered why he would be calling Erika. Seems strange that they would use that name for another character.

I would call Camilo a pig, but that would be an insult to all pigs.

Pobrecita Aurora, turned out in la tormenta. Are those tears or raindrops?

Loved Santiago's darting looks from Fernanda to Fr/Ed, he gets it.

Yes, Carlos, you are right about Camillo. I would have thought that his macho pride would have prevented him from such loathsome actions. Also, I was always under the impression that the “date rape” drugs knocked someone completely out. She was semiconscious...really awful.

I think the writers are preparing us for the eventuality that Anibal might except Pris’ baby. After all, the criatura doesn’t have his “bad” genes!

Remember the Smother’s Brothers, “mom liked you best”? Gonzo is willing to give millions for the rescue of Lili, but he runs roughshod over his other children trying to disinherit them or at the least give the lion’s share of his estate to Babs, go figure.

Dam lost a lot of blood but he was able to forgive and forget who shot him and use a “guilt trip” on Fer in order to get her back while still in the ER...wow!

On Lovely, there are so many “how to get your man” books that are promoted on various shows, but I’ve never seen crying and wining about your mean uncle/mother/ex-boyfriend as a sure fire way to land someone. What a convoluted evening. Aren’t you supposed to be upbeat and happy on a first date?

Kat, that was a magnificent recap! I got home last night from a brief trip to find that my VCR (no, alas, that's not a typo for DVR) tape ran out after only a few minutes of last night's episode. Actually, now that I've read your recap, I've decided perhaps the VCR had the right idea. I loved your helpful and snarky recap, and I suspect I would have found the episodio itself hard to watch.

Again, many thanks!

Gracias all for the comments. That was a tough one to watch, all right. My take is that Camilo didn't actually do the deed. But if he did, Mommy Barbara is going to have to kill him for it later--never mind that it was on her orders!

And good point, what's with "Lovely" being all whiny and cheap-acting. I thought she was supposed to be sophisticated and unattainable? I can see this being Esteve's plot to get her into Camilo's apartment and thus become a more efficient spy, but really, what does he expect her to find there? Or is he just messing with Camilo with no real plan? So many questions, so few characters thinking clearly.

I too slept through the Aurora scene, gracias a Dios!

Jackie: “Poor Santiago. He just doesn't deserve all the angst. I wonder what Barbara is going to tell him.” Maybe nothing. Aurora will just be “gone.” Just my guess.

Variopinta: ”don't know why Santiago wouldn't call 060, the Mexican 911.” I guess Dam didn’t want the police involved for fear Barb would end up nailing him somehow.

Kat,

"So many questions, so few characters thinking clearly" that phrase is clearly the motto of this show!

Funny!

Sandy in TN

Kat, thanks for the wonderful recap, much better than the episode. The story line with Abora is just too painful to watch. She really looked ill towards the end. Barb must be the long, lost daughter of Crabi! Crabi killed her mother, tried to kill her father. They both do the bunny hop with the son in law, and now I do believe Barb has become a pyromaniac - she enjoyed watching the paper burn way to much. What will she set fire to next?

I always thought of Erika as kudzu but I like your Velcro much better. She was all over Cam in the very beginning going as far as doing the bunny hop. She is one desperate woman.

rsk

5ft-10ft of recap, excelente! And some great lyrics at the end!

Ugly Cad/Abora scene. Thru the disgust, I had the thought that Abora was only slightly less concious than while un-drugged. I don't know who is the worse- Babs for having orchestrated this, or Cad for going thru with it. I, too had the thought that maybe he didn't do the deed, dispicable non the less. Have we seen the last of Abora? I just hope she isn't slammed by evil deeds again.

I hope that if I'm ever shot, or in extreme distress, that my woman takes her sweet time to sashay when I call- QTH was that all about? Err could have taken her to the Cruz Roja sin problema, so it did not make sense.

De todo acuerdo w/Carlos, we needed an uplifting scene with our Gardenia to brighten the episode. Sorry, detractors.

dorado dave

I went on you-tube to listen to the part about Obregon. It seems Erika's uncle is Obregon. The policeman came in to to tell Erika she had a call from ?? Obregon & she said, that's my uncle. raro

Thanks, Kat, excellent recap, very funny, and I loved the song, too.

I sort of think Camilo did the deed, there was nothing to indicate otherwise, and of course, he's despicable. But it could get worse. What if Aurora's pregnant?

Why did Gonzo have to stay at the office to receive "Obregon's call"? Hasn't he ever heard of call forwarding?

Yesterday I was thinking that while Fr/Ed's plans didn't make sense, at least Barbara was getting something done. Well, she has, but what's the point? How do any of these things bring down the Elizaldess, or get Barb her freedom, if that's what she wants?

Yes, I, too miss Gardenia (and Martina, who's my real favorite).

Hmmm...I wonder whether Dr. O will turn out to be related to Errorika--perhaps the brother of her uncle? I mean, why else would the writers include an uncle with the same last name as Dr. O?

5ft Latina awesome recap! and your humor is just great. This episode was a little boring but you mad it interesting and for that I thank you. About Barbara doesn't she have any instincts at all when it comes to Aurora? There is always a feeling inside us when we meet family even if we don't know them. She must really be emotionally bankrupt. And that Camilo how could he do this to his own brother? He and BG deserve each other.Jerks...

Thank you, Kat. Only a witty, evil genius like you could move us past this one. I've been dreading such a scene with Cadmilho and Abora ever since he first started leering at her, so after begging the plot gods for someone to interrupt them, I resorted to hiding behind my laptop and doing some online shopping.

In the 15 I have been watching novelas, I will never understand why the writers so often seem to think a rape scene is integral to the storyline, it's like its disturbingly obligatory. Its the one thing I wont tolerate in films either. -Liliana

Juanita, I was thinking the same thing, Dr O is a relative of Erika.
Wonder if the actor is playing 2 roles?

I concur with those who think Camilo really did it. It was sort of weird that he freaked out when Babs came in. He DID have a sheet over him. And you'd think he would have been tuned into the plot for Babs to discover them in bed.

I'd bet the farm Aurora turns out to be pregnant. Maybe Camilo shoots blanks also (definitely a good thing for the gene pool) and the baby would thus be Santiago's.

After all, this has to be the longest stretch of TN I've ever seen with nobody pregnant (except the actress who plays Erika in real life).

Novelera: "After all, this has to be the longest stretch of TN I've ever seen with nobody pregnant..." Don't forget about our Pris!

It would be too weird for Dr. O to be Error's uncle.

Kat: Thank you for the light-hearted recap of a gut-wretching episode. You did a masterful job and your humor was greatly appreciated.

I was trying hard last night to believe that Camilo changed his mind and did not rape Aurora. Now, after reading all the comments, I think I was deluding myself. Clearly, Aurora was devastated. Whether you like Aurora's character or not (and I do) it was true violation of an innocent. Blech...

I'm with you Hombre. More Martina please.

Kat, this was a fabulous recap. Thanks so much for adding humor and a great reteling of the episode. I can't decide if I am more horrified that Cam agreed to ruin this tearful wimp or that Fernanda is still in that infernal yellow dress after a week or more of episodes.

I think that Cam did not actually have sex with Abora. Her murmuring Santi in her delirium seemed a real turn off when he might have been on the point of taking full advantage of her helpless state. I was surprised that Barb did not take pictures, but maybe she is going to keep the story from Santi and let him go crazy with grief and worry about Abora and their lost love.

Barbara seems to be enjoying planting hurts for Artemio too since I think she is keeping Abora's escape from the fire from him. Too bad the cantina is burned to the ground, Abora could build some backbone being a mud wrestler. Now what can she do for a living?

I especially laughed at your image of Errika, Fernanda and FrEd going out the door holding hands like 3rd graders on a field trip. And the song is priceless. We could have all used some of Gardenia's wardrobe malfunctions to distract us from this sad, sad episode.

Beth, you're right! I did forget about Priscilla being pregnant.

I guess my mind was more turned to the usual situation, the out-of-wedlock pregnancies that abound for protagonistas.

"...even drugged-up she still doesn't want his sorry orange ass." Great line! One of many and a song, too. Very well done, 5ft; thanks. Your super funny recap took some of the sting out of the memory of that downer episode. I bet Aurora gets pregnant and, even if Camilo is not the daddy or didn't even do the deed, Abora thinks he did and there will be the perennial TN device "who's baby is it?" Can't wait for tonight. hgr

Just returned from work , grabbed a glassful of cool lemonade , changed into my comfy clothes, and settled here in the office to check out the posts that were added since this morning. Your great comments were a moodlifter. After reading them , I feel much less cranky. [I've spent hours and hours today and yesterday trying to pare the stuff in 3 file cabinets accumulated over the years of teaching down to one file cabinet, so I come home feeling that Barb and I have similar personalities.] I can't wait to see what happens tonight. I am hopeful that Fr'ed will get sleepy, crawl into bed in those jimjammies of his , find the letter from DDenia, and we'll FINALLY learn what bombshell she has decided to drop on him. So...where will Aurora go now ?...back to Dominga's place ? Will Fr'ed and Fer EVER get together? I'm beginning to lose all hope of them EVER hopping down the bunny trail together. Also, the old dude is still at the bottom of that hill. Will he EVER be discovered , or will Barb get away with that murder, too. Well, we know that Barb and Camilo are both going to eventually pay for their dastardly deeds , but right now , I am very frustrated. Somebody get a clue. I've never seen FC play such a clueless galan.

Cheryl, I tried to picture Aurora as a mudwrestler. It's just not working for me. I'm afraid as fragile as she seems, the walk in the rain may precipitate a pneumonia,so maybe she won't be with us that much longer.

Carlos

IF...
Abora dies in the rape forest of a case of the sniffles (oh, I almost forgot I gave her that nickname in a fit of disgust over the endless tears) then...

Santi can go back to Err (wasn't she his first love?) then...

Err will decling from Fr/Ed then...

Dam will die of gangrene then...

Nanda & Fr/Ed will FINALLY get together.

or maybe not...

maggarita

Too bad Aurora is such a meek and mild character that even palnts might abuse her. Her 'lookalike' ;) Florecita from Diablos had more fire and spunk.

Ibarramedia

Maggarita, I like your scenario. As to the old dude at the bottom of the hill, every time an armadillo gets run over in my neighborhood, buzzards flock in from miles around. You would think that a tasty wrinkly would maybe attract a few. And what about that little girl with the goat (rather delicious looking himself), shouldn't she have missed him by now?

Carlos

What is our "Old Dude at the Bottom of the Hill" count? A week?

Posters, get a GRIP....as much as you don't want to hear this, Aurora and Santi will be together in the end. She is a shy, clueless person who PRAYS all the time, the TN gods won't do her in.

That' s my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

Sandy in TN

Connie, the old dude was done in on June 17th.

I need to check how many episodes Nanda has worn that banana dress.

rsk

Carlos, you crack me up...
Maybe the old dude at the bottom of the hill is with Ciro. He'll come back to haunt Babs in a white suit and a chess piece in his hand.

Sandy: never pay any attention to my potential outcomes...I am never right!

maggarita

"Get a grip" is unneccesary. I will leave this comment alone as without "get a grip" there were some valid points and it actually did address the show. In future, please watch the tone.

I just checked and Nanda has been wearing the banana dress since Episode #99. I think it is time for a new look.

rsk

Sorry Kat, my posts are always in fun. It is so hard to make written words convey a lighthearted tone. I should have put a smiley face at the end...Your thoughts and comment are taken to heart, I'll use a :>) next time!

Why would anyone who had any sense predict a TN outcome anyway!!!!

Sandy InTN

How long did she wear the brownie dress, I think Marcario went down the hill whe she was wearing that.

I think Babs was wearing the dark long wide lapeled coat when she sent him down the ravine.

I expect everyone to be wearing different clothes this episode since it marked the end of a day. Just check out the sexy nand alluring Babs in her nightwear.

Ibarramedia

Good point Variopinta, I guess we should keep track in TN days. How many outfits has Nanda worn since June 17?

Oh, thank you! I so didn't want to deal with the crap that's been going on since last week and I've been nervy since I posted last night, hoping that ppl would play nice. I'm not the world's greatest enforcer :) So I'm glad it wasn't meant in a bad way!

I would watch Lucero In anything she is in, even though she is really evil in this. Same with Diana Bracho & Guillermo Cantú, they are so good. I don't think I could ever like Camilo, even as a good guy.

I remember the actor that played Ted Bundy, I couldn't see him in anything w/o thinking of Ted Bundy. I guess that is a type cast that really sticks.

A nice cozy family dinner would do everyone good, but then Babs gave Tomasa the night off. Meanwhile, Margarita and Jacy are piggin' out on Tomasa's tamales. How fair is that for the rich folks?

Carlos

BTW in the avances, I saw Fernanda in azul, kissing Fr/Ed. But maybe not tonight.

We had to wait a few for the violación of Aurora. IMO the scum Camilo did the deed.

Re Erika having an uncle whose name sure sounds like Obregon. What's really bizarre is that Fernanda didn't even react to the name. Maybe she's met Erika's uncle and knows it's not him? Still weird though. I like Juanita's idea that the guy could be related to Dr. O somehow.

I think Camilo did it. He sure looked tired enough like he did. I know most people don't mumble "wow wow" in bed otherwise.

Amazing how even in her deeply drugged state she managed to wrap the sheet all around herself like that, afterwards, or that he perhaps took the trouble to do it for her. Actually, even when people aren't drugged I find it remarkable that TV characters always wrap themselves so thoroughly in bedsheets. Both of them. Two sheets on one bed in addition to the one that's still on the mattress.

Yes, I recognized Rape Forest (Post-Rape Forest?)/Dry Ice Wood, figured she'd either run into Feo or Llorona.

I think Lovely's apparent helplessness appeals to Camilo precisely because he doesn't like women who have any personality, backbone, or will. (Another reason I have no trouble believing that he went through with it.) The only thing Lovely could do to make herself even more appealing to him would be to pass out.

Sadly, I think Sandy is right about Santi and the Sniffler being together 4ever, unless the poor girl gets struck by lightning in the Dry Ice Wood.

Thanks for neatly handling a muy unpleasant episode, 5ft Kat!!

Yeah, she was wearing the brownie dress the day Old Dude went down the hill.

Next day was a different dress, I don't remember exactly, I think it was sort of beige but with a more flattering cut and with a wide thing around the middle that at first I thought was a belt but it wasn't.

Next day was the party with the sad mauve(?) dress, unless that was the evening of the same day as the beige dress.

Then the Yellow Dress That Wouldn't Die.

Maybe they skipped a few uneventful days that we didn't see, maybe not, but it's been a minimum of three days. That might not be enough time for him to be noticed as missing.

I think he said when he was introduced that he didn't get a lot of visitors. I guess the little girl is only an occasional guest.

Julie we can always hope for a miracle! Maybe just a little zap just to wake her up a little.

So:
Old Dude at the bottom of the hill: 3 days

Shall we keep track until they find him?

Does Youtube have the entire episode or just bits and pieces? I can't watch it Friday and thought I'd watch it on youtube.

Julie~~~You always crack me up, and you are always so logical in stark contrast to the [almost always] illogical TN characters. I read an article about a prediction that we'd all be wearing uniforms in the future [think Star Trek], so maybe Fer is on the cutting edge of fashion and is trying out different looks before she picks out her uniform. I liked the ivorycolored lace dress that she wore a few episodes ago...very romantic-looking. Barb's wardrobe choices seem to say, ''I'll wear whatever I damn please, Loser!!! I'M BARB , and I'm in plaid and in charge.'' For Fr'ed, I feel that his jammies say, ''My bod is so hot that I cannot trust even myself with it...Thus, I keep it covered 24/7.'' I've never seen FC in a novela that kept him so bundled up from his handsome head to his attractive toes. Throw us a crumb .

Oh dear I wonder if Abora in the midst of a rainy rape forest will trip down the cliff and end up a goner next to the old dude. A twofer.

I have noticed that you-tube trims a little, but I don't think it's that much.

Kat, thanks for the hilarious recap of a rather disturbing episode.
Anibal’s little speech about his mother’s untimely death had more emotion than anything else he’s said in the entire TN.

You could tell that Barb was going to burn the note from Aurora as soon as she sat down at the desk.
She's just predictable that way.

Loved the song parody in behalf of Gardenia and her DDs.

La Paloma

It could be a relative of Obregon, but I don't think Fer was referring to Dr. Demento himself. Fer told Fr/Ed that Erika had a relative (uncle?) pretty high up in Government or the Court system that might "expedite" Fr/Ed's predicament with the police thinking he was driving a stolen car. That doesn't sounds like the manicomio's Obregon.

Thanks for the recap Kat. "to continue my bid for world domination." After reading such a great recap, I don't think there is anything that will stop you. I await your orders! :)

Susanlynn, "I've never seen FC in a novela that kept him so bundled up from his handsome head to his attractive toes. " You'll just have to pause during the opening and closing credits and get what you can. :)

By TN rules, Aurora Boreallofus has to already by pregnant by Santi, just no way around it. Now we'll have to put up with more wailing and gnashing of teeth when Santi comes back and finds Aurora missing. Oh woe is us! :)

JeffMN

5 ft. Latina: So absolutely great and thanks for all the laughs! Your ditty about DD was the icing on the cake.

Jeff~~~HA...Good advice....very pragmatic. I have also pulled out my dvds of Alborada and Amor Real , and if FC keeps wearing layers and layers of clothing, I may have to bring out the Pasion dvds , too. However, at the very least, he could unbutton a few buttons on his dress shirts. Hiding his light under a bushel is not going to boost ratings. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and seeking revenge and fighting EVIL are dirty jobs....get ye to the tub, Fr'ed. Eduardo Yanez had his shirt off more than he had it on in FELS ,,,now that's what I'm talking about.

P.S. ''Get what you can.''~~~Now that's a motto to live by.

Babs with her Zippo reminded me of one of my favorite Alfred Hitchcock Show episodes about just such a lighter. If she had been in it, she would be missing a pinky finger now. Too bad. Maybe later she will bump into Peter Lorre in a bar ( Las Nueva Copatõnas ?) and as she is lighting up he'll say "Nice lighter. Do you trust it to work every time?" Carlos

Susanlynn, I think if FrEd was like EY was in FELS, you wouldn't have any idea what was happening in this TN. That's probably why he is dressed up all the time. They want you to marvel in the plot lines, not the FC 'lines'. I tell you, those writers are just so full of themselves. ;-)

JeffMN

Oh dang, I forgot about the lace dress, Susanlynn! Was that before or after the brownie dress? What did she wear to dinner with FrEd when he played the tape of Lili's accusation against Babs?

I know I missed at least one outfit - she was wearing jeans and a sweater the night she spent not having sex with Damn in a hotel. That was after (at least one day) the brownie, because it was on the brownie day that Babs talked to Gonzo about getting the charges against Damn dropped.

I'm not sure if being reunited with Damn was before or after the beige dress, but the morning after in the hotel she wasn't going to go to the office, so that probably wasn't the beige dress day... so now I have no idea how many days it was. At least four. Possibly five.

Okay here's what I have from my somewhat deficient memory, please help:

Day 1: brownie; guy goes down hill; Babs tells Gonzo that Damn is innocent

Day 2: beige dress; Babs gets in touch with Damn.

Evening Day 2 or later: jeans or some kind of pants with sweater; Fer goes to hotel with Damn and takes a bath alone

Evening Day 3 or later: Party with sad mauve dress suitable for crying

Day 4 or later: Yellow dress with tumorous accessory... the party was a Saturday... that's why I'm wondering if the story skipped a few days, because you'd figure she wouldn't have worn that sweater on a business day either.

Any other clues? I'm going to start keeping track. :)

Jeff, I know it's late, but if you're still on here, did you enjoy the finale of "Mariana de La Noche". I know you were watching it and so was I, but there was no place to post about it.

Sorry to be off topic for the rest of the crew.

Jackie J.

Jeff~~~Point taken. You are so right . I would not be focusing on the most excellent plotline if FC were taking nonstop baths as he did in Amor Real or if he was buff, barechested, and bandaged after being wounded in that nasty shooting incident in Alborada. Julie~~I can be of no help to you at all in your wardrobe chronicle for Fer. All I remember is the brown dress because it looked remarkably similar to my own dear Brownie uniform [minus the dark brown beanie, goldplated pin, and 3 merit badges. ] I remember the lace dress because I would wear that dress. It's the one outfit she's worn that I like.[Her gown for the BIG PARTY was nice, too.] I recall that she was wearing the lace number in her office , and she might have had it on the first time she and Fr'ed went to The Love Shack. Gotta go...I got my sneakers out to go for a walk and lost them...somewhere in the house...yes, in my own house...right after I got them out....Then, I called a friend to invite her to breakfast on Saturday and told her that's the day after tomorrow. She helpfully told me that Friday was the day after tomorrow. I can't find my sneakers ,and I don't know what day it is, so don't look to me for any kind of analysis of this crazy novela. I'm just crossing my fingers that it's a warm night in Mexico tonight, and Fr'ed climbs in bed sans jammies and finally reads that d***letter from DDenia.

Hi Jackie J, still here. So, Off/Topic...
Yes, the final of Mariana was pretty good. Now I'm going through TN withdrawal again. :) Didn't know that it was going to be two hours, but caught all but the end. We were watching and during the wedding they switched to the Sotomayor hearing and I went to do something else do didn't catch all of the wedding. I guess the show did finish up. I was always wondering how they were going to do in all of the baddies on there. There were just so many that probably deserved to die. :) They did get them all finished off in a somewhat respectable ways. We were always wondering what happened to Marcia and seeing the time, we then figured out it was definitely going to go to a 2nd hour. When Atilio was pointing the gun at Ignacio, knew right then that Marcia was going to jump in and take the bullet. I think Chachi probably got off easy. We always thought she would end up in the jungle with her mama Maria Lola. It was a pretty good TN. Just seemed like everyone was a little too stupid and doing things for all of the wrong reasons. :)

What did you think of it?

JeffMN

Jackie J, more O/T...
Are you watching Gancho as well as MEPS? Watching Gancho and lo and behold, Ivan (Mariana) has showed up there. He looks to be his usual sneaky self. :)

JeffMN

Julie, I had a few minutes and here is what I found from Episode #81 :

#81-84 - Lace Dress
#85-91 - Brownie Dress
#92-93 - White with wide black
cumberbund
#94-95 - Plaid Sweater
#96-98 - Party Dress
#99 - to present - The Yellow Dress

rsk

Novelera, just to clarify--I wasn't suggesting that Fer was referring to Dr. O, nor that Dr. O is the person Erika is suggesting might help Fr/Ed. But I think it's quite possible that Dr. O and Erika's high-placed uncle may turn out to be related. I'm guessing that the TN writers had a reason for giving them the same last name.

rsk, Wow, great research. The plaid sweater and the party dress would have to be the same day. Was the lace dress when the old man was booted down the hill?

Did you compile a list of Barb's outfits, too?

JeffMN

I don't think anyone is going to find the old man Babs threw down the hill. He is history, IMO.

P.S. If we had only known . . . we would have kept a log of 'actual days' in MEPS time. I think Dam & Fer have been married less than a month.

Gee...a month...and yet it seems like an eternity.

Got to this really late and wanted to thank you Kat for a great recap (of a dreary episode).

JeffMN, no she had on the brownie dress. First thing in the moring I will work on Barb's outfits. It is almost MEPS time.

rsk

Doris, I don't have much hope of anyone finding the old man, but seems like by now someone should have noticed he disappeared and reported it back to the Elizaldes.
I think it has only been a couple of weeks since the wedding, let alone a month. :)

JeffMN

So if we count tonight as another day because of the outfit change it would be 6 days of Old Dude at the Botton of the Hill.

Carlos, I think you are right however sad it seems that Aurora couldn't cut it in Mudville. I was just thinking it might do her some good to be an understudy of Martina's so she could get some courage.

I still think Camilho didn't make orangeade with Abora but it will be hard to prove the contrary. And I am sure I saw Venus/Lovely turn away from Cam and bite her cheeks to keep from laughing out loud during her poor me crying scene. I just don't get Esteve's point in roping in Cami but perhaps it will be interesting.

Sandy, I saw only humor in your comment and I especially agree that Aurora will have TN Angels over her shoulder from praying so much. The only fact that flies in the face of this is the praying that the sanctimonious BadMom in FELS did was to no avail since it was not sincere and TN Angels can always smell a fake. I think Abora is the real deal at least in this.

Oh I forgot to thank Carlos for his buzzard observation too. What happened to the old guy's cute little granddaughter, didn't she notice that no one is home? Very strange.

Cheryl, "...Camilo didn't make orangeade with Abora"... my favorite line of the day. Thanks. Carlos

Wow, great work, rsk! Thank you!!

So it was a white dress and not beige... LOL I have the worst memory for colors. I am very good at vividly picturing something in the completely wrong color!

Jeff, this is a very late response but did not want to add an OT to the new recap. Re: Mariana. I thought it was one of the good finales, very satisfying. I agree that Chachi got off easy, but I gave her a pass because she was so emotionally upset from Atilio's life-long rejection of her.

I am only watching MEPS regularly and trying to get into Amor, but it has a few too many teens for me : ) In the day, I watch La Madrasta. There was an excellent run of great novelas at 1 p.m. but alas the current one is a teen drama, so I'm out.

I always enjoy your MEPS comments and was glad you and your wife were enjoying Mariana as well.

Jackie

Jackie, More OT... Yes, we were hoping for another Gran Historia to take the place of Mariana, but they came out with that other one. For us, Valeria was moved to Mariana's time slot and the teen drama (Verano Amor?) moved into Valeria's old time. Looking at Wiki, in Mexico, Verano replaced Juro Que Te Amo, so perhaps Juro doesn't have much time left either? Not sure how long Valeria will last either. Maybe another Gran Historia will be coming soon. We hope so. :)

JeffMN

Jeff, I was hoping for "Salome", "Mujeres Engañadas" or "La Intrusa" for the Gran Historias' slot. I think you and your wife would enjoy any of these. As it is, I'm going to purchase the full-length version of "Amarte es Mi Pecado" from a source I found on this board. It's pricey, but the abridged version is just too choppy unless you've seen the original.

I agree that it's fun to see actors pop up in different roles, whether they're the stars or minor characters. I've never seen "Ivan" in anything else, but can't picture him as as anything but sleazy. I have a feeling some of the guys here would have appreciated the "charms" of Carol from Mariana. Let's just say she would have floated to the top if they'd tried to drown her :)

Jackie

Jackie, Yes, I think some would have enjoyed Carol, or as my wife called her, "put some clothes on." :)
Also, you could have seen the "original?", earlier anyway, Denia, a sweet, kind, demure Denia.
None of the other afternoon TNs are saying Ultimas/Ultimos yet, not that I know of. Sometime they will end and then perhaps another Gran Historia. Take care and fun talking to you. :)

JeffMN

Jackie, just unlurking to let you know that "Salome" was just shown this last year in the 1 am Gran Historias' slot, so I wouldn't count on it showing again soon. "Contra Viento y Marea" is currently playing at the 1 am time but is almost over, so there should be another Gran Historia there soon.

Pascal

Pascal, thanks. Maybe I'll have to think about taping the night time Gran Historias. I didn't know that is what was showing at those times. Only a few times have I been up that late and saw TNs were showing.

JeffMN

Pascal, thank you for delurking with that news. I'm disappointed but at least I won't be waiting endlessly. I am usually in lurking mode myself as I'm pretty shy in real life and sometimes feel my posts are not to the standard of the regulars. But I still enjoy reading and occasionally throwing in my dos centavos.

Jeff, I think i'm just sticking with MEPS for now, but I'll keep my eyes open for a Gran Historia in the future and I'll be thinking of you and your wife. By the way, she and I had the same excact name for Carol, with the miniscule clothing. Surely she did her shopping in the doll department. But she is a beatuiful girl and I'm suprised she hasn't surfaced on another show.

Take care. See you on a later recap.

Oops, Sorry Pascal and Jeff (If you're still out there). I forgot to sign the above post.

Jackie
