MEPS 09/18/09: Always The Last To Know Or, Stop The World Cuz I Think Gonzo May Want To Get Off

Capítulo 153?

First the video rewind: In her office at the den of dairy duds affectionately known to us as Grupo Lactos, Barb tells Fr/Eduardo that there is only one person that Artemio Bravo fears in this world and his name is Eduardo Juarez. If Fr/Ed can find him then he will hold absolute power over Bravo. Across the hall, Anibal races into his daddy’s office to tell him the police have Camilo in custody and the person who pressed charges was none other than dear little sissy, Fernanda.

Venus/Loafly and Fer return to the hospital. Errika tells them that, happy-happy joy-joy, Estev has come out of his coma. Venus races off to see him. Err tells Fer that Estev is on the way to a full recovery. She adds that now that Estev’s out of danger, she’s moved her wedding date up to the coming Saturday and says she hopes Fer will keep the date free as she is still her matron of honor. Fernanda, inwardly cringing with the rest of us, graciously agrees to but wonders what about the guests? Err says she’s decided to have just a small, intimate ceremony instead.

Fer gets an angry call just then from Gonzo about her putting Cad in jail and he tells her to high-tail it back to Lactos ASAP for an explanation. On her way out of the hospital she runs into Fr/Ed and tells him her daddy is none too happy with her because of Cad. Fr/Ed tells her he could have signed the complaint instead of her but she says she was duty-bound to do it. She changes the subject to even less pleasant things like Barbara, and wonders what she wanted with him. He tells her the only thing she needs to know is that he thinks he now has a way to rescue Lili. Fer says they’ll have to discuss it later, but with Cad in jail the only consolation is that they might be able to rescue Lili. He takes her hand in his and promises he’ll come through for her. They share a meaningful embrace. (yawn)

Venus is now in talking to Estev. He tells Venus that what kept him alive was thinking he couldn’t die now that he’d finally won her heart. He asks her if anybody has found out the truth about them yet, but she says no. (Dunno if what she told Cad counts. My guess is you betcha!) He says nobody can know the truth until the situation stabilizes around there and they are back home in New York. Venus wonders if he knows who beat him up. He says it was Cad and his troublemaking posse of pissants. She tells him Cad is now in jail paying for what he did to him.

Viewerville now gets a glimpse of our pugilistic pissant in chief being escorted to his new 8’x 8’ guest quarters. Apparently the guards don’t give a rat’s patooty that he is Camilo Elizalde and neither does the stinking, snoring drunk on the floor who they’ve given him as a roommate. (Definitely a Kodak moment.)

Desperate to get Fernanda off the available competition list, Err doesn’t waste a minute getting back on the phone with “Migui.” (Talk about your cringe-worthy nicknames. Sounds like a tiny disgusting little insect. Yech!) She tells him about the change in her wedding plans and that it means no trip to the finca. She adds that Fernanda was supposedly beside herself with joy when he showed up for dinner. “Seriously, she told you that?” “--Yes. And, listen, let me give you a little friendly advice: go after her. You let her get away once, so you must not lose the opportunity life’s given you again.” Miguel, the only truly sane one in the curdled crew of this dairy dinghy, says he came back with that intent but he doesn’t like the idea of pressuring Fer so soon after a failed marriage. Err says that Fer was never in love [with Damian] and is extremely disappointed. Fr/Ed returns and she quickly hangs up.

Err says she thought he was going to pick up Loafly but Fer brought her back instead. He says he had business at Lactos to take care of. She tells him Estev is out of his coma. He races off to go see his friend. She giggles with glee (I swear that laugh of hers sound more and more like nails on a blackboard). It seems her plans are going without a hitch.

Meanwhile, Padre Bosco has returned to his church and is praying. He worries that the situation has gotten out of hand; many innocents are at the mercy of a confused man whose heart has been hardened [endurecido] by hate and the thirst for vengeance. The housekeeper brings him a letter from the Bishop which tells him that as the paperwork is all in order, he gives his permission for the marriage between Errika and Franco Santoro and asks him to officiate.

Fr/Ed goes into see Estev. He promises Venus and Estev that while they’re staying with him nothing like that will ever happen again. Estev tells Ed not to apologize or to blame himself because he was the one who was so anxious to teach Cad a lesson. Venus says no, she is the one to blame because she put the lecherous worm’s [gusano lujurioso] manhood into question. In the end, she says, he received a lesson made to order [a su medida = custom fit/ personalized].

On the phone, Dolly tells Err that she’s canceled everything, but worries that Augie is going to explode when he finds out the small fortune he’s lost on all the deposits. Err says no biggie since he had planned to spend much more. (Good thing Eddie’s got some deep pockets.) Dolly says she still plans on having the reception and that’s that. Err says she’s only interested in getting married, so Dolly can do what she wants about the rest of it.

Fr/Ed comes back from seeing Estev and Err tells him that he was a great friend and that she’s proud of him. He doesn’t understand why. She says not just anybody would have done what he did for him. Estev will probably be leaving soon now, she says, so she moved the date up to the coming Saturday for the wedding so that he could still be the best man. (On crutches or in a wheelchair? Those wedding photos are gonna be something else with that face of his.) Fr/Ed is a bit surprised, but goes along with it. He gets a bit nervous though when she says Padre Bosco will be the one marrying them.

Bosco is distressed [a mi pesar = to my regret] about having to marry Eduardo, but he feels he has to since the Bishop has asked him to perform the marriage. Before he can think about it further, though, Artemio Bravo pays him a surprise visit.

Back at Lactos, Fer, Anyballs and Barbie are in the office with Gonzo while he goes off on Fer for turning in her brother to the authorities. “Never did I think instead of children I was raising a pack of wolves!” He says he knew they always fought at the table, and were not exactly the most affectionate of siblings, but how shameful to see his daughter turn her brother into the police! He demands that Fernanda tell him what Cad did for her to expose the whole family to this pain and embarrassment by cold-bloodedly reporting him to the police. “Your son attacked Estev Norton and now he is in the hospital!”

Gonzo is blind-sided impactado and yells at Anyballs for not telling him. Squirmy, wormy AB says he’s only hearing about it now himself! Trying to earn points with his papi, Anyballs rushes over to Fer then, turns her swivel chair around to face him and yells at her for not being capable of doing it for her husband but somehow certainly seeming able to with her own brother. Fer gets up and sneers at AB. She could have expected as much from them, she says. It turns out that she’s going to be the Judas of the family, but she’s not having any of it.

She admits she did it to stop being complicit with Camilo. Gonzo, always mentally a day late and a dollar short, asks what she’s referring to. (Viewerville sits at attention and crosses all fingers and toes in hopes that this time the self-absorbed old steer gets it in spades.) “Since childhood I’ve seen how Camilo, backed up by the fact of being an Elizalde, has mistreated everything and everyone he could. He used to torture animals and what did you and Mother do about it? Absolutely nothing! You never said a single word to him about it.

“He would take pains to make Santiago’s life miserable. Whatever Santi used to care about, well then Camilo would snatch it away from him. What did you and Mother say? How bright! How intelligent Camilo is! You used to go around lauding his pranks, didn’t you? Do you remember when he became Errika’s boyfriend. Why? Because Santiago loved her. Cad would never have fallen in love with her, ever! And, of course, when he discovered my friend was hopelessly in love with him, what did he do? He ridiculed her feelings and entertained himself by beating her on my wedding day, didn’t he? You remember, right? But you didn’t consider it that important. Well, what happened? --And regarding that business with Jacinto, yes he whipped him and it is true! It’s true! So far, Camilo prides himself telling how he beat him, about how he left him with those scars that can never be gotten rid of! Any half of those acts our workers would now be in jail for, am I right or am I wrong? --But of course, as it’s praise-worthy Camilo, well he continues the abuse.”

Fer turns around and suddenly faces Babs. She frowns at Babs but she’s on a roll and just keeps on truckin’. (Don’t stop now! Let it all hang out!) “So, now Estev Norton is in the hospital, near death and in a coma, and only because it occurred to your son to show what a real man he was. Are you aware of this or not!!?? –If it were one of our employees what would have happened? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Ah, but since it’s a millionaire who’s dying and a business partner, well then we have to be worried, now don’t we? I cannot handle being an accomplice to your lukewarm attitude with your children! Not anymore!” (Viewerville is on its feet cheering.) She turns back toward Barbara again. “—And you!!” She stops herself, looks over at her father then shakes her head and slams the door behind her. Bull-headed Gonzo is left to chew his cud and self-consternate.

Back at Padre Bosco’s parish church, Bravo has come to arrange for a time and date to have his forensic specialist inspect Eduardo Juarez’s remains. Only then will he return Lili to the family. (Talk about your double whammies.) Bosco stares speechlessly at Bravo, realizing that if anybody ever needed a miracle now, it’s him.

Meanwhile, Errika and Fr/Ed go into the hospital cafeteria for a bite of breakfast. Fr/Eddie wants to shake loose from her and suggests Err should probably go see her parents who’ve just gotten back from their trip. Errika (totally overdoing this boda thing) says no, they’ll just have to get used to the fact that their daughter’s first priority is her husband. “By the way, I spoke to Miguiiii and told him we’ll have to postpone our trip to my aunt and uncle’s finca. (Eddie’s really torn up over that one.) You know what? He’s going to be Fer’s escort at the wedding. And do you believe it? He told me he’s really in love with Fernanda!” Fr/Eddie chokes and then forces a smile when she adds that she thinks Miguel is going to propose to Fer that evening.

Fr/Eddie’s saved by a phone call from Fernanda asking if he knows what the new plan for rescuing Lili will be. In his best business voice he says he still hasn’t worked out all the details. “How about we agree to meet tomorrow morning at Las Animas?” “—Uh, are you with Errika?” “—Uh, yes. Exactly.” Fer says fine, see ya, and hangs up. Errika asks if that was a business call and he lies that it was. She tells him once they’re on their honeymoon (what a no-hitter that’ll be) he’ll have to leave the business--along with that cell phone-- behind. “I want you all to myself then.”

Back in her office at Lactos, Fernanda gripes at herself for calling Franco. “Now Errika will think I’m after him. Well, he’s her fiancé, --but he says he loves me. Of course, they’re going to get married”. She’s having a hard time accepting it and yells at herself that she’d better already, even though it hurts like hell and she’s dying of jealousy.

Out at Reception, meanwhile, Flor is floored by the sudden appearance of our smiling, Spanish Adonis, Miguel, virility oozing out from every pore and holding a giant bouquet of flowers. He asks to see Fernanda. Before Flor can dial he touches her hand and asks for a favor. (No way this guy’s still a virgin, saving himself for some pre-pubescent puppy-love. He knows too many of the right moves. Yowza! Eddie-Boy could take a few lessons.) Flor has to remember to breathe.

In Fernanda’s office there’s a knock at the door. She doesn’t look up, thinking it’s Flor, and asks a question. He walks to the desk and replies he doesn’t know, (but who’s listening anyway?) She looks up into his eyes and smiles. He smiles back. (Now all of female Viewerville has to remember to breathe.)

We are rudely shunted to the county jail where Gonzo is now griping at Camilo. “Never did I ever dream of having to come to the police station to see a child of mine!!” Cad whines that he’s glad his daddy finally came. In between sniffles he whines to the lawyer that he’s got to get him out of that garbage dump [muladar] right away. Gonzo wants to know if he ordered Estev Norton’s beating and Cad lies that of course he didn’t. “My sister’s brainwashed and so she reported me to the police!” “—So why would she do a thing like this?” “—Because she’d rather believe the lies of that bogus niece of his!” Gonzo needs an explanation and Cad obliges. He tells him that her name isn’t Loafly; it’s Venus and she’s a prostitute. When Gonzo refuses to believe him he says she told him herself. “--Did you know that this morning she came to my apartment and tried to murder me? If you don’t believe it just look at me!” He shows him the stitches under his chin. Gonzo, as always, needs time to process.

Back in Fer’s office, Miguel drinks in Fer’s perfume as she arranges the flowers and tells him she’s surprised because she thought she was going to see him that evening. He says he came precisely because he couldn’t see her for dinner. There was a cash-flow problem with his Ethiopian project and he’s got to take care of it. His flight leaves in three hours. (Bummer! I could look at this guy till the cows come home.) Fer says she understands and the job comes first. He says he’ll be gone two or three weeks. She says then he’ll miss Err’s wedding. He nods and says he doesn’t know whether it’s just his imagination, but Fer doesn’t seem too sure about this wedding of Err’s. “It may be I’m mistaken, but well, tell me: don’t you get along with this Franco Santoro?” She says of course she does. He’s a great guy and any woman would be happy marrying a man like him. “—Including you?”

Fer laughs nervously and explains it was just a manner of speaking. “What’s the matter with you, Miguel! Don’t be silly!” She reminds him of his flight and says she doesn’t want him to miss it on her account. (Excuse me. It’s three hours off and it’s not like he’s got more than a couple of undies and a shirt to pack, you know?) “I do appreciate your coming to say good-bye, though.” He stares into her eyes, turning up the charm a notch, and says no way he’d leave without seeing her first. She hesitates and puts up the barrier. She says well, she hopes he can resolve the problems at work. He nods and turns away, giving a small eye-roll. He gets up and wonders if he shouldn’t give it the old college try once more. “Fer, take care of yourself, will you?” He stares at her intently. He moves in for The Kiss. She avoids it and pecks him on the cheek, then gives him a sisterly hug. (Re-jected!) The heartache of realization crosses his face. “—I’ll call you when I get back.” (Something tells me “Miguiiiii” won’t be coming back.) He walks out the door, shouldering his heartbreak like a man…..

That night up in their bedroom, Gonzo tells La Barbie that Camilo swore that Loafly Norton told him she wasn’t who she said she was. Sure, he says, it could be something Cad just made up, but all the same…. Babs says if Fernanda signed the complaint there had to be a reason. He is certain that Fernanda’s charges are baseless because she wasn’t there. Babs asks him what he’s going to do about it. He says he hopes she’ll withdraw the charges because he can’t believe she’d actually present herself in court to air their dirty laundry. [carear= go public] Babs says she sympathizes, but she thinks it’s best if Camilo stays in jail. Gonzo is enraged. (Hubby and I take bets over whether Gonzo will survive through the end of this novela.)

Across the hall in his bedroom, Anyballs is on the phone brown-nosing Fr/Ed over Estev’s recuperation, saying that he appreciates the seriousness of the situation and hopes this incident hasn’t affected their working relationship. He hangs up with a smile on his face and says at least he can sleep soundly tonight. Pris is totally disgusted with him and his attitude. “It doesn’t bother you in the least that your brother, innocent or not, is going to spend a wretched night in a jail cell; or that your sister had a horrible argument with your father, that Lili hasn’t turned up, or even that Estev Norton might have died, does it? The only thing that matters to you is that nothing affects your business deals?” AB turns to go into the bathroom. “—And what’s so bad about that?” (Hubby says he’s got a point considering that’s what pays for all those jewels and servants.) She tells herself and the baby that this is not the kind of father she wants for him.

Back to Gonzo and Babs: “So my son should just rot in jail? No! That suggestion is totally unacceptable, Barbara!” She tries to explain. “You don’t understand—“ but he’s lost it. “—Of course I understand! Whatever the case, my children are my children! I’ve lost my daughter with no possibility of ever seeing her again. Now you expect me to simply abandon my son in jail for a crime he didn’t commit?” She tells him he’s right and apologizes for not being clearer. She sits him down and starts massaging his back. In that aggravatingly honeyed voice of hers she sweetly tells him she understands how painful the day has been for him and that the last thing she wants is to upset him with anything. She smiles evilly, secretly elated by all of it.

The next morning Fernanda calls Aurora to apologize for not coming by the day before. Rory tells her that La Sra. is coming by to see her today and once she tells her why she’s so interested in her she’ll force her to leave with her. Fer gets her to promise she won’t go.

Our little lamb, Santiago, shows up unannounced with a spring shear a couple minutes later in Reception at Lactos. Fer is all squeels of joy. Barbara walks in on them and throws cold water on the scene. She tells Santi she didn’t know he was coming back. Fer says she asked him to. La Barbie is not a happy camper because this is most definitely going to put a wrench in her plans with Aurora.

At the hospital the doctor tells Fr/Ed, Err, Loafly and Estev that he is doing so well he can go home the next day. Fr/Ed’s cell rings. Err grabs the phone asking who it is. “Barbara Greco.” Fr/Ed takes it out in the hall. Barbara tells him that Santiago just returned home and orders Fr/Ed to make sure Santiago turns right around and leaves the country immediately. “Are you listening to me, Franco? IMMEDIATELY!!” (Shades of old times with Damian.)

Santi goes into Gonzo’s office to greet him and AnyBalls, the embodiment of brotherly love and affection--not.

Fr/Eduardo needs an explanation. Barbara tells him it’s the favor she’s due for helping him with Bosco the other day. That’s not good enough. She tells him if he doesn’t solve this somehow and get him out of the country right away then they’ll both have very serious problems. “If you don’t obey my orders there will be no possibility of seeing Liliana Elizalde alive again!”

Back in Gonzo’s office, AB asks Santi how long he plans on staying. He explains that with Cad in jail they’ll need him to help there at Lactos. (What is he talking about? Cad never steps foot in that place unless he’s got a personal problem to get taken care of, or there’s a Board meeting.) Santi asks Gonzo why Cad’s in jail. AB tells him to ask Fer since she was the one who put him there.

Fer, meanwhile, is now on the phone with Fr/Ed who called to tell her about his phone call from Barbara. “It was a warning. She called to tell me that Lili’s life depends on Santi’s leaving the country immediately.” She wonders why and what he plans to do. He says he doesn’t have a solid answer for her and she agrees to meet him over at Las Animas ASAP to discuss it. Santi comes in right after she hangs up. She admits she pressed charges against Camilo. He wants to know why. She tells him that she asked him to come back home because several things have happened and in some way or other they have to do with him. She tells him once he finds out everything his life is going to change for sure.

As we come back from the break we are entertained with Damian taking mug shots. (Say “Cheese” for the camera, Dam.)

Barb comes out of her office looking for Santiago. Flor tells her he and Fer left together a little while ago. Gonzo comes out looking for Babs to ask her to come with him to the jail to see Cad. She says fine but first she wants to speak with him.

Fer and Santi arrive at Las Animas together. Santi tells Fr/Ed that all things considered [dentro de lo que cabe], Fer having told him on the way what happened, he’s very sorry about Estev. Fr/Ed tells them he’s doing fine and that he’s being discharged [dar de alta] the next day, and that Loafly is taking care of him there now. He explains that they’re all alone in the house because Margarita is home with Jacinto because he is recovering from his accident, too.

Back at Lactos, Babs tells Gonzo that sooner or later this was going to happen to Camilo. “I’ve had to hide the things he’s done from you to avoid the pain you always feel.” “—By gawd, tell me already!” “The business with your car was only the beginning.“ “—What are you saying???” “--The things he’s done are worse even than what they’re holding him for at the police station.” She pauses to take a well-timed, quavering breath. “I don’t know if I should tell you.” “—How could you not tell me, Barbara? What are you covering up about my son?” She feigns a pained expression and says that it’s not easy telling him this, but Aurora, Santiago’s fiancée, didn’t leave the house for the reasons he thinks. No, she didn’t leave there because Cad drugged her, no. “I found him when he was…raping her!” Gonzo is in shock. (Hubby just doubled his bet.)

Back at Las Animas in the study, Fer tells Fr/Ed that he can talk freely in front of Santi and that Santi also knows that Barbara had something to do with Lili’s disappearance. Fr/Ed asks if this could be the reason that Barbara is so eager to have Santi leave the country. Fer says she hasn’t the slightest idea. Santi says he can’t imagine why he’s become such a nuisance for her. Fr/Ed says well, it has to be something major because she blackmailed him saying that they’d never see Lili alive again if he didn’t convince Santi to leave. Fer asks to speak to Santi alone for a minute and Fr/Ed says fine. Just then the doorbell rings and he goes out to see who it is. Fer reminds Santi that she told him what’s going on has to do with Aurora. She has news from her for him. Santi waits to hear what she has to tell him.

Back at Lactos, Babs fakes near tears and says she tried to convince Aurora not to cause a scandal. Gonzo says, well then, you know where she is? Babs lies and says she doesn’t, that the girl has been calling her and meeting with her in various places. So he asks if what she wants is money. Babs says she doesn’t think so. He says well, what else could it be? “-- Aurora is expecting a child.”

Back at Las Animas, Fer finally tells Santi that Rory is expecting. Santi says nothing, but it looks like he’s got to be asking himself, “Whose?”

Thanks for the recap. I can't believe how much I miss just by trying to listen on my own, so these recaps are very helpful. Also, love the title.

Two best moments of the episode: Damian getting mug shots and Fer telling off her dad et. al. Both priceless. I am so glad Fer called her dad out for being a hypocrite. Hopefully, her spew was a wakeup call for him.

Looks like Fer is going to reveal what Cad did to Rory in the next episode. Should be exciting.

Great recap, Jardinera, and thank you! wow, you had a lot of ground to cover, too!

So Camilo didn't like Venus telling people he was in the jacuzzi with another guy. Well, just wait till he's in the shower, at the jail, with lots of guys. :-0 Yikes.

When Fer was in Gonzo's office , telling him Cadmilo's transgressions, why didn't she go ahead and tell him that Cad raped Rory?

Gee, Santi sure looked fresh as a spring flower after how-many-hours on a plane from Italy. Ah, youth. (My sister and her hubby felt like death warmed over after flying home from Rome last week.)

And what was up with that hat, Fer? All That Jazz? Chicago? A Chorus Line? I kept expecting her to whip out a cane & start dancing. Aaaaaaaaack!

Yea!! Santiago got a haircut. Annnnd,he has a great bod too. Why does his bod look so much better with short hair?

Miguel, great bod, buuut
our FC is the best.

So glad Fernanda unloaded on Gonzo, can't wait until she does the same on Babs. You could see she was holding back.

Well I guess Santiago can move in with Fr/Ed.

It's about time they put the pieces together. A little discussion about Aurora knowing her mom is Rebeca Sánchez & Fr/Ed knowing he transfered 10 milliones into her acct. bingo

Correction
1.5 milliones to the acct of Rebeca Sánchez.

10 milliones to Lactos

Doris- I don't think Barbara knows that Fernanda knows where Aurora is. Not sure what would happen if she found out, but it couldn't possibly be good. I think that's why Fer stopped at the "And you!"

More novela heroines should be like Fer! But what is poor Erika going to do when she finds out Miguel has to go? Can she move the wedding up to tomorrow? He was a little too ignorant of personal space was was nice to look at, so hopefully they bring him back. You know, Flor still needs someone. hmmmmm....

Kel

Thanks so much, Jardinera, for the great recap and the helpful Spanish vocab.

Am I the only woman in Viewerville who isn't all that taken with Miguiiii? I'm impressed with his sensitivity to Fernanda's feelings, but the smile he gave Flor, like his smile the night before when he was with Fer, Err, and FrEd, really turned me off. In fact, at the dinner, I felt sure he was a fraud, and I felt the same way when he smiled at Flor. It seemed like the smile of a snake oil salesman. Oh well....

FYI
FC is 6'1½" 187 lbs

Yáñez is 6'3"

Kel, you're right: Flor needs someone. So too, presumably, will Erika and Gardenia, and there just aren't that many eligible guys to go around. So maybe Miguel will have to come back, but for whom? It's hard to see him shifting his affections so quickly from Fer to anyone else. That is, unless he really is the fraud I sometimes fear he is.

Jardinera, thank you again for another noteworthy recap. I was LOL about Gonzo chewing his cud. Yes, he does look like one of his cows, white hair, black suit, and then the cud chewing.

Fr/Ed needs to get the Swat Team back pronto. I am sure there is more nastiness it is not over. They could also keep Shrieka, aka Errika, away from him. The girl is living on different planet and poor Fr/Ed is being torn in so many different directions. She reminds me a child that cries and stomps her feet if she doesn't get her way. If that doesn't work, she probably holds her breath until she turn blue. Her parents must just give into her rather than deal with the tirade.

Miguel looks like he needs to be doing toothpaste ads with that smile.

Do you suppose that Dam, Cami and Lucio will all share a cell and compare notes about Barbi?

I don't know how Barbi keeps all of her lies straight. It gives me a headache to try and keep up.

Fer need to ditch the hat.

rsk

Juanita,

I too am on the fence about Miguel. He's just a little too suave to trust. There is something insincere about him, which is funny, since it's Fr/Ed who's has the double identity. But whenever Fr/Ed tells Fer how he feels, you know it's for real. I also don't find Miguel's face as handsome as FC's. But he does have a very nice body.

Loved the comment from Doris about Cad sharing the shower with his new prison buddies in jail. Ha! Ha!

Pobrecita Erica. Her little plan is falling apart. Can't wait to see the dingbat's face when she finds out her beau is EJ!

Thanks so mcuh for the stellar ercap, Jardinera. So much dialog, lots of it rapid-fire, really a lot of content.
Gonzo finally gets a lesson in parenting, about 25 years too late. Fernanda telling him where the bear does his business was fantastic- Silvia is by far the best actor in this production. Caamii is truly doomed to a future of showering with the guys, (don't drop the soap!).

I don't think we've heard the last from Damian, surely they will have him at least rying to implicate Babs in this "terrorismo" thing.

Errorika is an absolute delusional idiot, the only thing she cares about, at all, is marrying Franco, who she knows does not love her, care about her, or even like her.

Santi (Carlos de la Mota) is one strappin dude- the one I would least want to piss off, by far. I wonder if he's ever going to get any physical revenge on Caamii.

Jadinera, thanks as always for a great recap. I wondered if one also noticed the demise of soaps on regular TV - I don't watch them but was amused to read that Guiding Light is closing after 72 years.

I would like to ask for some advice from those who know Mexico well.

Travel is my hobby and usually I have gone to my former home in South Africa or Europe. I understand some Spanish. I've done city tours in Rome and Paris on my own. Recently I went on city tours to Philadelphia and Washington with a guidebook in hand. In November I'm off to NY and then later Cancun.

I've seen there are some wonderful Mayan sites I can visit. So the question is if it would be safe for me to travel on my own in Mexico City. I understand some Spanish. It's always difficult to find someone who wants to go the same place at the same time that I do and someone who shares my interests - history and NO SHOPPING.

Thanks,

Lynne

I can't say I know Mexico, but I have read that it can be a rather dangerous place, whether at Mayan sites or even Mexico City, especially if travelling alone. Especially if you are female. I think it is like New Orleans in that if the visitor takes a wrong turn at the wrong corner, you're immediately in big trouble and you won't know (or realize) it's the wrong street to be on.

Lynne: If you want to visit the Mayan ruins, take a bus tour. If you are going to Cancun they are easily arranged fromt there. They are great and the guide tells you all sorts of things you do not get from guide books. The tourist on the tour always have the same interest or they wouldn't be there.

Mexico City is not safe even for Mexican citizens. We have friends that live in Mexico and you cannot believe some of the stories they tell.

I agree about taking a tour to be on the safe side. The big problem in Mexico now is all the drug crime, but most of that seems to be directed at other drug people or the police. Like anyplace else, don't go places that don't seem safe. The people are the nicest & most helpful, so I'm sure they can advise you.
You can find travel advisories on a US govt website, I'll look for the link.

Juanita- Miguel may be a complete fraud, but a smokin' hot one. Probably not husband material, but I bet he'd look great in a tux. I'd let him take me out to the ball. But probably not good enough for Flor. But Gardenia?

Lynne- I went to Mex City alone (36 yr old female) y me encanta! You just have to be careful about where you go, as with any city, esp. at night. The museums are wonderul in Chapultapec Park and south in San Angel/Coyoacan, and the zocalo is great people watching during the day- not a place to be at night I hear. But I stayed in barrio Condesa and wandered out to eat in the evening and felt fine. The only thing is that while people are generally friendly and helpful, not very many speak English. If you're good with maps and subways and won't look lost even if you are, I'd say go!

Kel

Thanks Jardinera! Another great recap! I just howled when I read your line "There was a cash-flow problem with his Ethiopian project". Miguel wasn't another victim of that infamous e-mail from the Ethiopian Prince was he?

There must be another even bigger secret we don't know anything about if Eduardo Juarez could have absolute power over Artemio. Too bad Soledad died before she could tell Fr/Ed everything.

Santi looks better with the shorter hair, but I wish someone would buy him a shirt that actually fits. That one looked two sizes too small.

Excellent recap and title!

I also don't get the Miguel thing, I think he looks slimy and gave Flo the longest fake smile I have ever seen! yuck!
He reminds me of a gigolo, and the way he was all over Fer after years of not seeing her...ugh get away!
I kept expecting him to call Erika and ask for his money that she promised him to seduce Fer. I wouldn't be surprised if he is married with kids !

Erika is already checking Fr/Ed's cell phone every chance she gets, next she will be looking in his pockets for notes or receipts...what a life to look forward to.

the comment "Dam is Dum" was too perfect, I have to give Barbie credit for a great setup.

Maybe someone should explain to Fr/Ed just what this "Eduardo" can do to destroy AB !

Thanks, Jardinera for your entertaining recap. I'm now caught up with the recaps and comments I missed during the last few days. Gracias a todos!

Was it Tue. night the Grito de Mexico program was on? I watched after MEPS and thought it was nice for Pablo Montero to give a shoutout to this site. He sang "caray, caray, que linda es mi tierra". OK, so he was just singing the lyrics...

Santi looked much better with the short hair cut. More determined, perhaps. Loved seeing Damian do the mug shots.
La Paloma

I'm greatly enjoying the recaps. Thank you, Jardinera and others! At the moment I'm away from home and can't see the episodes (a woman traveling alone in Mexico - ay, caray!). MEPS has long been over with on TV here...But with my laptop and access to wifi, I've found the recaps and the comments to be wonderful entertainment. I loved the description of the "pugilistic pissant" Cami being intro'd to his jail cell. The "Kodak moment" reference cracked me up. DaraB

Jardinera, your recaps always makes me laugh. Thanks so much.

I couldn't keep my eyes off Gonzo's pajama ensmble. Were those female pajamas Gonzo was wearing? I swear I had similar pajamas made from a silk or nylon material, with the mandarin color, with the trim around the collar and down the front but mine was pink in color not the rosy color that Gonzo wore. I, however, did not have a matching robe and I did not stretch the front open at the buttonholes. Plaid flannel pjs would be better, wardrobe people.

Errika wants her hands on Fr/Ed (LITERALLY and figuratively) so the sooner the better for her. She said wants him all to herself on the honeymoon though we know she'll never have the pleasure, poor girl.

GinCA

Jardinera,

The faster the action in the show goes the more we're the recappers. I could get the basics when Frr was talking to Gonzo, but you recap really brought the details together. Thanks!!!

Lynne, is there a reason you are choosing Mexico City for your trip to Mexico? While it is a city chocked full of great sites and museums, like many urban places it can be dangerous. Some of the colonial cities are very beautiful and as a rule are much safer than Mexico City for women travelers. If you you have any flexibility, I would suggest the colonial heartland for your trip.

Sandy on TN

Make that.. The faster the action goes, the more we need the recappers. It is tough working on a mobile device!

Thank you for the recap! My comments tonight will be about Miguel. I read in some of the earlier comments from a different day that the actor who plays Miguel played the Eduardo part in the Columbian version of MEPS (Pura Sangre.) So ... as new fan, I decided to watch some episodes on YouTube.

In Pura Sangre, the names are different but the scenes are similar. It's Eduardo/Marco there, whereas ours is Eduardo/Franco. But I really wanted to say that our Miguel made an excellent Eduardo IMHO! And I must say that he had this very seductive way of slowly walking and talking as he moved in for besos with the protagonista (in Pura, her name was Florencia.)

The Miguel-ish person in Pura, was, I think, fairly weak, especially at the dinner when he first comes on the scene at Erika's house. He didn't seem at all like someone who could even for a minute take the heroine (Florencia) from the hero (Eduardo/Marco). In Pura, Eduardo/Marco commanded the scene.

I thought that the Fernanda/Miguel office scene in MEPS was interesting because the actor, (Rafeal Novea?) was in the exact same position as Eduardo in Florencia's office where he certainly got the kisses! In the MEPS scene, yup ... totally rejected by Fer. You could tell that he was not happy ... I thought that the door was going to slam!

Ah well ... I hope he comes back.

-Netgirl

thank you jardinera for the wonderful recap.

"pugilistic pissant in chief being escorted to his new 8’x 8’ guest quarters" -- good description of Camilo in jail. :)

I got confused and need some help understanding the following items in your recap:
It took me several minutes to realize that you switched to using AB for Anibal. When did this switch happen and what is the nickname you are using for Artemio Bravo?

who are Loafly, Cad, Rory and La Sra?

Jody :)

Hi Jody,

Loafly is Lovely/Venus
Cad is Camilo
Rory is Aurora

and I think that La Sra. is Barbara.

-Netgirl

Jody-

Rory= Aurora
Cad= Cad-mil-ho (acknowledging his status as a cad and a whore)= Camilo
La Sra= Senora Barbara
Loafly= Lovely (aka Venus)
AB= AnyBalls (aka Anibal), but there is some confusion as some people use this for Artemio Bravo as well.

-Vivi in DC

Great recap as always, Jardinera, and your "little lamb with the spring shear" was a hoot. Santiago definitely looks better with short hair. And think back to the Dan'l Boone hairdo he had in the opening episodes....oh my!

I'm predicting Gonzo will live to the end or nearly the end, so he can fully learn the extent of his children's and his wife's evil. These telenovelas are about contrition and redemption for our sins of commission or omission...so he needs to know it all.

And really, I thought the choice of jammies was perfect...because it underscored the weak,"feminish" manipulated position he is always in with Barbara.

Yes, Miguel has a big phony smile and moves in too tight, but just close your eyes, gals, and enjoy that voice! Hope his vocal chords are insured because they are pure gold.

I think that smile of Migui's is freakish and annoying. Or maybe the director (who has succeeded in turning Colunga into a lousy actor) has just told Migui: stand there and hold that smile for a few minutes. Blegh!

Gonzo.....well the chickens have come home to roost! Now you will be dealing with the pieces of the family that you have neglected for so many years. You are unhappy now, but there is more to learn so you might as well throw away those silly silk pjs, Babs won't be able to help, she is the problem.

There is something funny about Miguel's face. He has a sadness in his eyes and is smarmy at the same time. But you know, besides Santi and Flor, he is the only true friend that Fer has. Ed/Fr certaintly isn't her friend, by his actions he has been cruel to her. Eduardo is this the way you treat the love of your life, parade around with a fake engagement to her best friend? Fernanda's world is falling apart and what do you do, make her uncomfortable with awkward passes? This is a hackneyed expression, but with friends like you Ed/Fr, who needs enemies!

OK, now I feel better. I hope Ed/Fr and Gonzo get my message!

Sandy in TN

I think Miguel will be back, I think he's the chosen one for Erika.

Gonzo will need to spend the rest of his life trying to make up for all the harm he has allowed to happen to Lili.

More about Mexico
I spent 3 wks in Guanajuato & felt completely safe. If I was out at night, it wasn't by myself, but you can take a taxi. I walked almost everywhere. It is a very beautiful, interesting colonial city, in the mountains. Lots of tours to San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo (origin of El Grito), silver mines, Cristo Rey (which was wonderful, even higher in the mountains, over rocky roads). The city itself can keep you occupied, lots of museums, the home of Diego Rivera, Pipila (the local hero). The Leon airport is nearby, so not too difficult to get there.

A couple of interesting things about the DVD I watched last night. Madeinusa, sounds good when you give it a Spanish accent, is the main character. It takes place in the mountains of Peru in an isolated village. A geologist from Lima came through & they referred to him as el gringo. So it seems any stranger is a gringo, even if he's from your own country.
Madeinusa saw a label in his shirt & remarked that he had her name in his shirt. I never quite understood how she got the name.

I too have spent a lot of time in Queretero, Guanajuato, San Miguel de A and I second everything that Vario just said about the area, interesting and totally safe.

Lynne, if you already have you reservations into and out of Cancun, and if you have enough time and you'd like to see a safe colonial city along with the Mayan ruins, I suggest Merida. It is very safe and beautiful and you would get a taste of colonial Mexico. It isn't as far away as the "colonial heartland" which is about 4 hours north of Mexico City.

Sandy in TN

Lynn, my dos centavos about traveling, I haven't been to D.F. for many years, and while fascinating- even then it was dirty, threatening, and somewhat intimidating. About 3 years ago, my lady and I spent a few days in Guadalajara, and thoroughly enjoyed it.It is the heart and soul of Mexico in many ways. Not the downsides of the D.F., but lots to see and do, clean, great food and people. Not sure how it would be for a non-speaker, but I don't think it would be a problem.

Yesterday, I watched the scene of Fer telling Gonzo why she denuncio' a Cad. She was really on fire! I think I watched it 5 times. Gonzo was truly gonzoed, she asked him for a response about 4 times, and he just stood there catching flies in his open mouth. Silvia truly rocks! I am eager to see her in the next thing she does.

Sorry, ladies, I don't quite see what the stir about Miggy is all about. He's overbearing, and why does he maintain that 2 day shadow on his chin that some women must find attractive? (BTW, I don't shave except about twice a week, at most, that's because I hate to scrape my face clean))

What in the world jeans did Barbara have on? Apple Bottoms?

Does Fernanda know that Damian is also in jail?

Thanks for stopping in again, everyone! Trust me, there was no way I was going to recap this episodio without CC! Too much chipmunk for me also. Love all the comments and the way you've managed to get both sides of the fence covered on this. I have to say that normally I hate the scruffy look Miguiii is sporting but for me, it works this time. Go figure! :>) Just as an FYI, somewhere I remember that somebody said there are special razors that have settings to allow the scruff to remain at that length. IMHO it seems to be defeating the whole purpose of shaving at all.....
Should I mention that for once this was a male novela character that avoided tears? That rated a double hubba-hubba from this peanut gallery.

Jardinera, Thanks so much for your commanding recap of a Indy500 speed episode. I would have used subtitles too and reviewed several times. You did a super job of getting the important details.

I like Miguel and think he is sexy but his heavy and fast come on to a woman he had not seen or tried to for 5 to 10 years does not bode well for his eventual place of importance. Someone now has to bring Erika down just for annoying the devil out of all of us. She is one of my favorite actresses so this isn't easy but it puts her in the same category with Lucero whom I love to hate in this novela but was an innocent joy last time.

Lynne, about Mexico City. I am absolutely addicted to it but I am an intrepid traveler and go every year if I can. Here are a few rules: daytime is safe in the touristy areas but don't wear bling or be absent minded with your belongings. Minimize and be mindful at all times. As soon as you finish taking those lovely sunset shots of whereever, use only the radio taxis to get around. They will be marked, have a light box on the top, etc. Don't be cheap at this moment, they are worth an extra dollar or two. In the day time I use all forms of buses, metro etc. and walk a lot in the Chapultapec area to see the fabulous museums. The Museum of Anthropology is the best single museum of its kind in the world, perhaps of any kind. I have been seeing it since the 60's shortly after it opened.
If you feel unsure still, try Guanajuato, Puebla, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta and other suggestions made by people here but do give Mexico City a try sometime. It is just too fabulous in my unhumble opinion.

Oh and Lynne, I stay at the Hotel Maria Cristina, see their web site: http://www.hotelmariacristina.com.mx/
When I was mastering Spanish, I was delighted to be advised by the office staff who will speak English or Spanish and are very helpful. I have stayed in much more expensive places but feel just as safe here in an old hotel run by a Mexican family that is not a big international chain. You feel like you are in Mexico with them although accomodations are lovely.

Ditto on the Anthropology Museum. It's the best. I was there in '77, and have yet to see a better one.

Just want to say a good word for Cuernavaca. The climate is wonderful, and I would consider it a safe city. It is close to several fascinating indian villages and the countryside is staggeringly beautiful. It is also close to Taxco where you can get silver works very cheap. It's about an hour and a half sout of el DF.

Buen viaje!

el Pelon

Tks Cheryl for the Mex DF info. I also want to go there because there is so much to see.

For those interested in Mex I recommend reading this book
Distant Neighbors by Alan Riding
ISBN 0-679-72441-9

He is a gringo but spent many years in Mex & had a lot of help from his Mex friends & colleagues writing the book.
It has the history but the basis is how 2 countries so close in geography can be so different in custom & lack of understanding.

I am waiting for Netflix to get the Silvia Navarro film " Letra Por Letra" According to Amazon it will be on DVD in December. The trailer looks fun
http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3416326937/

Has anyone seen it?

Watched Ladron last night, my husband enjoyed it with the English subtitles..reminded him of Oceans 11,12,13-45

Elle, that film does look fun. I'd like to see that too!

Ladron was a fun movie. FC did a good job in it, I thought.

Lynne, about Mexico City, here's a blog written by a guy who's been living there the last 20 years or more:

http://mexicocitydf.blogspot.com/

I, too, think it's a fascinating city and once you're there, you'll feel fine. Remembering to be careful, as in any huge city, is of course always important, but don't let it keep you from enjoying yourself!

It's been 2 years since I was last there. Have stayed at the Maria Cristina (very nice, good location), also at Casa Gonzalez, & Hotel Majestic (on the Zocalo), among others, but those are the most recent places I've stayed, and would recommend any of them.

Besides the amazing anthropology museum, I also really liked the Templo Mayor museum next to the Cathedral (& just off the Zocalo), and the Franz Mayer museum, where you can see a great collection of furniture, ceramics, paintings, etc., dating, I believe, back to the 16th century, as well as the Frida Kahlo museum in Coyoacán.

The trip through the colonial cities that someone recommended would also be fun and do-able. The ETN bus is one of the bus lines that goes to many of those towns. You can book your ride online on their web site. The buses are very comfortable and affordable. ETN even has free wifi that really works!

Guadalajara is definitely one place you would want to include on a tour of colonial cities. Right now I'm in Patzcuaro and thinking of taking a bus trip there for a few days to shop for furniture for a house I'm building here.

Happy trails! DaraB

Thanks to all for the advice. I am going to Cancun for Thanksgiving and plan to go on a day visit to the Mayan ruins. Travel and studying languages are my hobbies. I would usually go with a touring company on my first visit to a country expecially if it involved extensive travel in the country. I don't mind visiting a city on my own which is why I thought of Mexico City. I live in Michigan and there aren't many Mexicans here to ask for advice. Most of the immigrants here are from the Middle East. Thanks again for the advice. I'm sure I'll be visiting Mexico soon again.

I enjoy the recaps and comments about MEPS. I think Sivlia Navarro is playing Fernanda brilliantly.

Lynne

Ditto about Santiago's hair. Usually the women have a hairstyle alteration when there's a big life change. Nice to see they can do this with the men too.

On the Travel channel side of this: Lynn, put the Red Tree House on your DF list for a place to stay. It's a guest house rather than hotel but the owner speaks perfect English (his partner is American) and he's more than happy to help you with figuring out transportation etc. It's in Condessa, a nice 20 minute walk from Chapultapec Park (40 if you stop every minute to take pics like me). I'd also send anyone to Guadalajara, esp in October. They have Festival de Octubre with special events going on around the city. It's dressed up nicely this month and there's easy transportation everywhere. It's "city" without the fear.

Kel

Jardinera, great recap, as usual!!

When I first saw Miguel I was taken with his good looks. In fact, I never even noticed his shoes everyone was talking about.

But when I saw him again when he first approached Flor, I did an about turn. I thought his scruffy beard or whatever they call it, was awful and turned me off; even though it's supposed to be very macho.

I'm glad Fer wasn't impressed with him. He's thumbs down in my book. As they've been commenting, he looks sleazy and I wouldn't be surprised if he was married.

And those jammies of Gonzo, I swear they looked like wardrobe bought them in the plus women's dept.

As for Santi, I love his short haircut and I think he is very cute.

Ann-NYC

Jardinera another stellar recap. I cheered when Damián was sent to jail.

I like Santi's haircut, he looks much better without the mop in his hear. In his last scene with Fernanda I noticed how much De La Mota and Navarro look alike, I'm not sure what it is.

I think Miguel's grin is an expression of Rafael Novoa, when he was in México doing interviews he had it too.

Next episode is going to be fun fun fun!

Elle: I've seen "Amor: Letra por Letra" it's a fun movie. That's the censored trailer, before watching I'd recomend getting familiar with cursing in Spanish. The characteres curse alot, especially Silvia's (She doesn't go a scene without doing it at least three times) and part of the comedy is in the way they use those words.

Jarocha

Jardinera~~Thanks for your detailed recap. Having just spent an hour of my life taking online sexual harassment training , I am thinking that Barbie, Gardenia, Cad, and Miguel have not had an instruction in this area. Miguel doesn't do it for me because he seems to be one of those guys who knows he is attractive...a legend in his own mind...a big turnoff for me. However, I do like his voice. [I'm thinking of Barry White,,right on..right on,,,right on.] Lynne~~My friend is a Spanish teacher who tries to go to Mexico every summer. She usually goes with her sons [huge guys] or another Spanish teacher, but a few years ago, she went to Mexico City alone and had no problems. My daughter went to San Miquel for a wedding and loved it. I guess it is an artist community. However, I had a student from Mexico , a young woman who told me a terrible tale of her being abducted in Mexico City. I guess like everywhere, you must be careful and alert about where you are and who is around you. My daughter lived in New York City for several years , and when I visited, she always scolded me with ''Mom, don't ever look like a tourist or like you are lost!'' Good advice. [She now lives in Toronto where if you look lost 5 people want to help you . ]

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. I'm so glad you told us what Fer was saying in her rant on Gonzo. I got more of her conversation than I have in the past and was cheering her all the way.

Sylvia was great. I loved how Fer pulled back her rage and didn't show Barbie her hand. Though I haven't seen a lot of novelas, I think Fer is one of the best protagonist. She maintains her cool in spite of raging stupidity from family and friends. Also she's no victim. Writers need to make more characters like Fer.

Can't wait to see what awaits us on Monday.

thank you netgirl and vivi for the nickname clarifications. :)

lynne -- if you ever have time in January, February or March, you should look into taking a Natural Habitat Adventures' Monarch butterflies tour. The tour starts in Mexico City, then you travel to the butterfly reserves in Angangueo, Michoacan, and afterwards you'll go to Valle de Bravo and Toluca before returning to Mexico City. They also have optional extension trips to the pyramids north of Mexico City. the website is www.nathab.com

Jody :)

Wow, all these great tips on travel in Mexico. Knowing nothing of this subject, I would have guessed that the DF would be safest. Kind of relieved that's not the case, because I was more interested in other areas! (Esp. Guadalajara!)

Not that I am actually in danger of traveling ANYWHERE in the near future, but that explains why a bunch of AAA tour brochures for Mexico I looked at recently spend only a day at most in Mexico City.

I would like to do the boat tour of Xochimilco, though, and I don't know how many Gringo-friendly tour groups include that.

Well well well. It appears that Miguel is not as oblivious/clueless as I had assumed (based on his oblivious/clueless behavior at dinner last week). I guess he noticed more chemistry between Fer and FrEd than he let on that night.

But he kept trying with Fer anyway, just so he could go home knowing that he'd done everything in his power for another chance with Fer.

That's not what I got out of the actor's performance, actually, but I'm choosing to interpret the character this way. The performance came off as Miguel being as delusional and clueless as Errorika, and as smarmy and desperate as Gardenia. Yuck! But apparently with more scruples than either of them, being willing to take the hint of a gentle rejection.

I really did find the actor very, very handsome, but didn't enjoy the character at all.

I would highly recommend Miguel for either Gardenia or Errika, and for both actresses I wish better roles next time.

In fact, for telenovela actresses in general I wish more roles like Fernanda's and fewer like Errika's. And I haven't seen Gardenia in ANY non-annoying roles yet (unless you include a brief and I think non-speaking role as one of Paty Manterola's friends at a party in Destilando), so I'd like her to get a good one soon.

DDenia was in Mariana de la Noche and was very good. You have to admit that she is playing her part very well in this novella.

rsk

Happy Monday everyone! Thanks for the recap Jardinera. Wow! How does Fernanda talk so fast? I got most of it but not all so the recap really helped. I loved Fer's new outfit. Really stylish even with the hat.

Miguel--slimy. Reminds me of a snake.

Erika--Ack! Enough already. My boyfriend grabs my phone too. Makes me crazy. He's broken so many of his own phones I don't like him touching mine.

Gonzo--he's so stupid he's not even worth talking about.

Cadmil-ho--Don't drop the soap indeed. His parents should have turned him over their knee years ago. In Gonzo's defense he did slap Cad when he found out what he did to Erika. It takes a real big man to hit a woman especially a retarded one like Erika.

A belated thank you to Jardinera for recapping Fer's takedown of Daddy Dumbest. How you managed to capture all of that is WAY beyond me. You must have hit the replay button 1000 times but it was well worth it, since it was Fer's finest moment (both in story & in acting).

Ditto to the multiple comments on Santi's new do. Remember the fake wig he had on at the beginning? He cleans up nicely!

Shrieka (ha! good tag, RSK) is Princess Brat. But, I'm more than annoyed at Fr/Ed's passivity. Not FC's best character, that's for sure.

Not a fan of Miguel. Too smooth, too suave, too toothy. Not into stubble either. Nice deflection by Fer...she's smoother!

AnyBalls is despicable. The only time he's excited is when he's talking about $$ or murder. Vlad the Impaling Stalker is a definite uptick for Pris.

re: telenovelas on YouTube
I'm not going to be home to watch MEPs tonight. I tried to watch tonight's episode on YouTube last night and (ack!) esnovelas' videos have all been pulled!

.Ara's links at telenovela-world don't work on my computer anymore, and they did on Friday night. Searching at YouTube brings up everything *but* esnovela's videos, and the others are incomplete. I only found chapters 154-1 and 154-2 posted by someone else.

Looks like more house-cleaning by YouTube, in the name of copyright infringement. Caray! Caray!

Patzcuaro

I had to look it up & found these pictures.

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3416326937/

Jardinera, I finally finished reading your stellar recap, great work, and all the comments.I'm a bit behind because I had hospital patients to tend to this weekend, and also was distracted by football,so now I'm catching up. I would never miss one of your recaps.

I was re-impressed by Miguel on Fri. He is better at reading a woman's feelings than I thought. Even in spite of Erica's relentless prodding, he has realized that Nanda does not share his nor Erica's enthusiasm for a relationship between him and her. He regained points with me. Now if he will just stay gone.

Carlos

Wow,,,,things are moving and our recappers are fantastic in keeping up with it all! Gracias a todos!!!
Miguel is what we call "slick" and is certainly the type that you would not want to get "hung-up"on...okay for what that country song says "Mr Right now, not Mr Forever"
Gonzo looked like an oriental Buddah "wanna-be" sitting there in his red shiny pjs....not much of a manly image for sure.....

Off topic for a moment....several days ago someone asked about the guy in the hat doing the DirecTV commercials.....his name is Andres Garcia and has been in many past novelas (although I've never seen him in one)......I think he is extremely handsome for his age (68 years) and would enjoy seeing that smile everyday.....

Judy B, very insightful of you. Nanda was wearing her in control power hat to dress down Daddy with the truth and then later we see Daddy in his feminine bedclothes fully defeated for failing his family and of course still seeking comfort from Babs (unknown to him the true power behind the scene for the last 15 years.) I wonder if the writers, actors or wardrobe people planned this?

GinCA

GinCa...from what I can discern, the wardrobe people are trying to transmit a message right along with the soundtrack people.

Sometimes the message seems really weird! (like some of Fernanda's strange outfits...are they supposed to mirror her total confusion?)but I thought the femme jammies were perfect for poor ol' emasculated Gonzo.

And I'm still impressed with how macho and feral the same actor can come across in his portrayal of Artemio...and it ain't just the dark suit and shirt either. This actor knows how to bring masculine energy when the role calls for it.

Thanks, everyone for all your great comments! I've been super busy or I'd have liked to answer you all this time as usual.
=============
CherylNM: Wecome back and glad you haven't forgotten us. You'll need to post a few more of your beautiful nature scenes.
=====================
Welcome: DaraB, Kel and quarterpastthree! Don't be shy and come back often.
==============

I'm glad to see I'm not quite a minority of one when it comes to Miguel's sexuality and character. I did think he was smothering Fer, totally invading her space at that dinner--just like Err with Fr/Eddie-- but, she didn't seem to mind it since IMHO she was happy to stick it to Franco so it worked for her if she was actually trying to make him jealous all evening. I'm sure she didn't miss the significance of that peel-out from the drive, either. As for me, a guy that looks like him could get as close as he pleased--the closer the better..... ~ ; ? )

Carlos: Figured you were with those who needed you most.
