MEPS 9/14: Esteve brings roses. Flor was zarandeada, not stirred.
Previouslys: Errika lives up to her name by perversely vowing to herself to continue on the wrong path and make Fr/Ed marry her "if it's the last thing I do." Yes, you'll have a happy life that way, you nutball. Also, we get to re-enjoy Fer's showdown with her sleaze brother Cam - if he doesn't get the hell out of Dodge, forever, she's going to tell everyone he raped Aurora.
Cam: "I did Santi a favor!" Fer: "You drugged her!" Cam: "You can't prove that!"
That useless waste of floorspace, Daffy, is crying in his bedroom. The phone rings, Barb sees it's Fr/Ed. "My dear, I will get you some of your special brew, uh, milk and honey," she says as she leaves the room. [Maybe that stuff she's been giving him for a quarter century eroded his IQ.]
Fr/Ed tells Barb he kept Cam from branding Loafly and that after what's happened, he and Esteve and all of Power Milk will eschew the Elizaldes unless they throw Cam out on his ass. Barb sez fine. Fr/Ed passes the phone to Cam who commences whining but Barb orders him to do as he was told and disappear. He throws the phone. Golllll! We love phone-wreckers.
Cam insults his sister, calling her Fr/Ed's rag doll. Fr/Ed goes after him, bloodies his lip, and shouts "Get out of here you garbage you!" Cam staggers out into the dark and I was hoping for a crocodile to come out of the night and eat him, but instead Cam just steals Fer's jeep and goes crawling to Barb. And threatens her: "Keep Fer from blowing the whistle on me, or I'm going to squeal on you." Barb tells him Daffy is just about to write Cam out of the will entirely, she'll try to smooth things over if Cam obeys her completely...
Gardenia gets the bed and Flor sleeps on the floor. Gardenia nags her, why hasn't she told about being zarandeada (shaken, knocked around) by Cam? Flor says he'll get what's coming to him. Jacinto and Margarita enjoy the story of the night's circus.
Artemio realizes his mother's diary is gone.
Just when you think Daffy can't get any more useless and pathetic, he does. He weeps as he transfers his considerable worldly goods to his saintly wife.
Fer comes in. Daffy delivers a honking big lecture: "The birth of each of you made me proud. What happened last night, it was a mortal blow to my fatherhood! As an only child, I wanted a big family full of love, solidarity, security, decency, honesty. When did my dream get lost? I didn't notice! Here I am with all my stuff - why aren't we happy, we're as miserable as indigents, nothing can repair our suffering. I worked for the future, so did my father and grandfather, and now the future is here, and look at it! I should have spent less time making money and more time working on your spiritual development."
Fer says she'll try to get Lili back, Daffy says it's what HE should have done. Blah, blah. As Fer's coming down the stairs (nobody's fallen down this staircase yet, no puede ser!!!), Barb crosses from stage right. Fer: "He's writing over all his stuff to you at this very moment."
Barb breaks into a sunny smile and murmurs blandishments to Fer, who ignores them and says: "Just promise you'll leave as soon as you get the dough." Barb says she will, no worries. Rrrring! It's Artemio, he demands her presence. She says she can't right now, she'll come later, and hangs up on him.
Artemio yells at Lili about giving the diary to Franco.
Anibal shows up at Damian's, dumps the hit money, and leaves saying (I love this phrase) "Hasta nunca." (It means, until never!) Damian mutters to himself, "I'll be deciding about that."
At Silvestre's place, Martina and Loafly aka Venus are gabbing a mile a minute when there's a loud knock on the door. They think it's Cam come back to finish the job, as he'd promised. Silvester and the girls pick up weapons and then throw the door open, it's Esteve! quite surprised by this hostile reception.
Martina drags her dad out the door to go shopping so Esteve can give Venus the big bunch of red roses he's brought and, with not too much hemming and hawing, he tells her he's in love with her. She has a hissy fit, imagining that he's making fun of her, but he tells her to look him in the eye. "I love you, I don't care about your past. Marry me." After he goes through it a few more times there is kissing and she accepts. And Martina and her Dad come back and all rejoice.
Esteve asks if she minds leaving to go live in the U.S., she says she doesn't know a bit of English, he says he'll teach her, she asks, are you going to desert Fr/Ed? He says, no Fr/Ed will return to the U.S. as soon as he's done here.
"But what about everybody thinking you're my uncle?" "Yes, that's a problem, we'll just have to keep being relatives for the Elizaldes..."
Fer and Fr/Ed have a poorly written, boring rehash. She presses him to tell her much more about what's going on, he refuses. She just has to keep trusting him. They agree they must find out what's up with Barb and Aurora. They hatch a plan to pit Damian and Barb against each other, divide and conquer. Fer calls Aurora to tell her about it.
Damian visits Aurora again, asks what gives with Barb? "I still don't know - but she's coming to see me again tomorrow." "Then I'll come afterwards and you can tell me what she says."
Barb tries to reassure Artemio that all is square with Fr/Ed but Artemio doesn't trust him any more and decides to investigate on his own.
When Barb shows up at the convent with chocolates, Aurora deploys the divide and conquer plan; she says, "There's something I haven't been telling you. Damian threatened me, he said he'd bring me back here only if I promised not to leave without his permission." Barb is impactada. "When you see him, Aurora, tell him I'm coming back tomorrow but just to say goodbye." [Remember, the plan is for her to high-tail it now that she'll have all the dough.] "That way, he'll leave you alone."
Aurora presses hard, asking why Barb is treating her so nicely. "I'm dying to tell you, but I can't until we leave together." Aurora says she won't leave with Barb unless Barb tells her! Barb promises to tell her everything when she comes tomorrow morning.
Artemio visits Father Bosco and threatens him again. "I don't believe Eduardo Juarez is dead. I study my enemies carefully, as does any man who has nothing BUT enemies. Eduardo would have been too tough after his rotten childhood to commit suicide, and besides, he was well taught by you yourself that suicide is a sin."
Bosco feebly sticks to his story. Artemio: "If this is a lie I'll kill all the Elizaldes, it will be on your head."

Good to see Esteve find his tongue.
Flor's doing a good job playing Jimminy Cricket for our Gardenia.
Pobre de Padre Rumpole.
Carlos
I'm concerned about what Cam the cad will do next and poor Padre Bosco (good one Carlos as he does look like Rumpole).
At last! Esteve and Venus stopped playing games with each other. That's a relief.
Padre Bosco needs to take some valiant priest lessons from Padre Tadeo of FELS. He looks like a lying, scared rabbit when Artemio Bravo talks to him. I don't think even Macario's granddaughter Rocio would believe what he's saying.
What Camilo said to guarantee his beatdown was that he was pretty sure he knew what Fer was giving Fr/Ed to make him her puppet. That did it for our hero.
Don't know how long "mañana" will be in this week's episodes, but it sounded like Babs was planning to "tell all" to Aurora tomorrow. I must say Aurora is a lot less annoying lately. Maybe the pregnancy hormones have upped her IQ.
Why on earth weren't the police called on Camilo after Friday's ep? Oh. Right. It's telenovelaland. I can't believe that turned him loose and actually trust him to leave town. Anvil City.
UUummm . . . Qu'e the **** was up with Fer's 'do rag? I would much prefer to see it on FC, with the same length hair, and tight breeches.
novelera - ITA about Aurora. All of a sudden her gray matter has kicked in. Finally. Thank goodness.
Finally, Estif's gray matter kicked in and he came clean with Venus. It's too soon for them to be a happy couple. Something bad has got to happen. I hope Cami doesn't do her in. (and no, I really have no clue what is going to happen - I have avoided spoilers. They would ruin the fun)
These people could save themselves a lot of trouble by asking ¿Quién es? before answering the door.
Looks like Eva Braun serving Lili her dinner.
Padre Bosco is not a very good liar, probably a good sign for a sacerdote.
Barb is planning on leaving town soon but the will still hasn't been completed with the attorney, thankfully.
variopinta
Fr/Ed sure doesn't like seeing Fer threatened. The smackdown of Cad was beautiful. Somebody should have done it years ago.
What was up with the do-rag? That was awful. Maybe should all run out and get one! We could wear it with our rooster shirts from FELS.
Why would you cover up beautiful hair?
NaranHo is pure scum. He & Dam are neck & neck in the "doomed to rot in hell" race.
Nanda's do rag reminded me of RicRicRic's in Pasion. Didn't like it then either.
Carlos: when Esteve found his tongue, he put it to work, didn't he?
I completely gave up on the dialogue when Fr/Ed was looking
just
so
fine
in his white shirt & jeans. Say what you like, Fr/Ed, & I'll ogle in perfect bliss.

:-*
p.s. no spoiler but does anyone else get the feeling that when the big reveal finally comes, Nanda will say "I knew it was you all along"...??
the Esif/Venus scene was a bit understated. At least we got to see both of them smile widely, especially Venus, not so much Esif. I mised the scene of Any?balls paying Damian. They are both going to be surprised when they learn the Impaler is vertical.
Hwta was with Flor on the floor at Marge's? Is that her normal bed?
this beleif that Eduardo is alive that AB has comes from nowhere. I sure hope that Rumpole isn't on the hit list again.
Almost have to kill off Cad now. About all you can do with rabid animals.
Fr/Ed and Fer dividing and conquering, but Artemio has Fr/Ed in his sights with the missing diario. The good Padre always looks like he has a little indigestion when he talks to anyone, not just Artemio.
JeffMN
Didn't much care for Ricardo's do-rag either, but at least he needed to keep those long locks from blowing around while pirating on the high seas.
Don't you know when the actress playing Venus knew that both FC and SS were in the novela, she was so disappointed that her love interest is Esteve, red face, red wig and all. Vlad is better than he is! Poor thing!

Weren't the stone columns in the convent beautiful, varying striped shades of green...incredible! Aren't the settings fabulous in the novelas!!!

Did Fr/Ed give any thought at all to how the vulnerable Lili was supposed to deal with the missing diary? There is just so much fallout for other people from his and Steve's plans.
Thank you for the recap, Melnama. I enjoy reading the different styles of the recappers, lean and succinet like this one and full and packed with juicy details like some of the others.

Too bad Dopey Dairy Don is so many years too late in realizing he should have been more tuned in to his kids as they were growing up. Ya think?
Anon 7:44: "Eva Braun serving Lili dinner." Good one. I've also wondered why Lili can't eat in the dining room with the grown-ups. It's not as though she's ever out of AB's or Eva Braun's sights.
How can Artemio be starting to connect Franco with Eduardo? And what DID become of the Jesus Jesus Lopez identity? (Good point Anon 10:38)What were the clues AB got to make that connection when no one else seems to be getting a clue? Poor Padre Bosco. He sure does terrified well.
JeffMN -- "good ship Fr/Ed" indeed. Ahoy mate-y!
I thought the love scene between Estif and Venus was rather nice and they both seemed touched with emotion. Kind of sweet.
In the avances, it seemed like Venus was stressed in the hospital, so maybe it's Estif who is going to be "muy grave?" Is any hospitalized TN character ever anything but muy grave?
Now, back to the story, I'm liking Aurora a lot better now. I would have thought her too child like and innocent to go along with any ploy. We're wondering why she is so trusting of Babs, perhaps she feel those same blood connections that Babs felt. I can't think of any other reason why I'd ever want to even look at her again if I were Aurora.
3 hospital scenes so far, Silvestre, Ciro y Jacinto, but at least they didn't go on for days.
And I too thought the two actors playing Esteve and Venus did their scene very well. Poignant tender looks...no overacting. Yes, kissing Steve would be a lot less exciting that Franco or Damien but their kisses were tender and sweet. Expected to hear the chords of Like A Virgin swelling in the background.

:-D
I was surprised by the amount of nothin' going on last night, but was glad Steve finally put himself and Venus out of their misery! He should have been honest with her much sooner.
Lamont Sanford and Chico ran back to AB and told him that Franco Santoro was really Jesus Jesus Lopez.
So I'm trying to figure out why AB is so "sure" that Franco Santoro is hiding his identity because he already "knows" from the goons he sicced on Gardenia that Franco's "real name" is Jesus Jesus Lopez.
And thanks for the Jesus Lopez note. I thought that was just a non-blashphemy swear that Esteve used. (It's still a good swear though).
Should be interesting when someone catches Lovely and her "uncle" kissing, because you know someone will. Probably Cami.
I'm not getting good antenna reception these days and am having to watch standing up in front of the TV,usually holding my hand over the conversion box at just the right angle. Hubby just doesn't get it. Why did this have to start so close to the end. I don't think I can handle the finale if it's over three hours!!! Maybe it's time for cable...but I don't watch any other TV.
Susanlynn...cute take on Fer's scarf.
Beth, I have cable and bad reception on Univision!
Sandy
I LOVED Fr/Ed beating up Camilo and dragging out the garbage.
why he brought him home in the first place is beyond me. They should have had him arrested at Don Silvester's keebler elf home earlier.
All the talking and planing with Aurora calling Fer, then Barb, then what to say to Barb what to say to Dam..etc. it's beyond crazy, turning into a Keystone Cop show.
Eduardo should have stayed in the States and saved everyone alot of headache!
Does Erika know he is returning to the US? with his new bride?
I couldn't enjoy the scene between Venus and Esteve...I also kept thinking Cami would be peeking in through the window!
When some people started in on me at a preliminary hearing (they didn't like the way our paper covered their cases) I turned around and reamed them out.
This was very ATYPICAL. I am normally very reserved, ...alright, cowardly! and avoid confrontations. But with those hormones bubbling I was a near tigress. Wish I still had some left!
No, he doesn’t, because he is wearing his telenovela beanie hat.
JudyB – Ally McBeal’s therapist told Ally that everyone needs a theme song. Cammmiiiii’s theme song can be the old Byrds’ tune “Hey Mr. Tangerine Boy”
I loved seeing pooor Caami crying in his bed. I wonder if Nanda knows he came home? Evil Barbie thinks she can control Cad, but there's no controlling a rabid dog. Someone should just take him out behind the stables and shoot him. I'm sure Jacinto would volunteer.
Glad to see Venus & Esteve together finally. I can see why that actress was disappointed with her "love interest". Esteve is the kind of guy who always gets described as "really nice, with a great personality and fun sense of humor". It's the trifecta for "he ain't much to look at." When someone adds "cute", you know he/she is overweight too.
Why would Aurora *ever* trust Barbra? Lots of creepy stuff went down before - Babs took her to the fortune teller, she saw Babs & Damian having a congressional session in the library, etc. I don't think Aurora has grown a brain as much as people have started pointing out the obvious to her.
I too, think Artemio is some kind of organized crime figure. That would explain all the goons he has running around doing his dirty work. I don't think AB ever bought the story of Ed's suicide (he said as much) and the timing of Franco's appearance was just too coincidental. Someone shows up just in time to save Grupo and also has a big interest in Lili? I think he just put 2 and 2 together. I don't know why no one else (Fernanda) has done that as well. Of course, then we wouldn't have this TN...
....and he's good to his mother..... the kiss of death!
I don't think Aurora is trusting Barbara any longer, she is playing along with her and listening to Fernanda. You're right though, at first, when Aurora arrived at the convent, she seemed to trust Babs.
Maybe AB is a Mexican drug lord, a member of "La Familia".
Sandy inTN
I think you're right, we really know so much about all the other characters, AB is still a big mystery. And mostly, why does he have such a soft spot for both Lili and Aurora.....strange. What does Babs have to do with all of it?
Now that I feel better about Pris and Vlad, I think I'll concentrate my thoughts on AB.
Sandy in TN
It's pretty common for DUIs, bar fights, and other bad behavior of wealthy influential sons to be swept under the rug. This didn't seem that unusual to me. And Fernanda didn't want the whole thing to come to light because she's afraid Daffy Daddy will fall down with a heart attack. Fr/Ed would certainly go along with her on this because he loves her so much.
Yay on Camiis beat down. Loved him getting dragged from the room. I'm sure there is still more to hear from him. The advances made it look like he goes after Venus again.
Also, I went frame by frame on the advances because they were flying by, and they don't show the face of who is in the hospital bed. Hmmm
But I think Lili grew on him, and then he realized he could have a companion on into his old age. Plus, she certainly doesn't give him a lot of guff! I don't think he'll ever let go of her until the final week when he's killed off.
On AB's upbringing - I'm pretty sure he said at some point that he was brought up in an orphanage, maybe he told that to Lili when he first brought her to his manse. But I don't think we've had any hint about where he's made his money.
I'm glad Venus and Steve finally got together, but it seemed a little too easy after all his conflict over not being able to love earlier. I guess once he figured out that she was not really going to marry Camilo, he was able to step up to the plate.
I wonder if Steve's daddy knows all the intrigue Power Milk is supposedly involved in down in Mexico. And won't he be surprised when his son comes back with a bride!
Susanlynn “Does the wardrobe department even watch this show?” and the other comments about Fer throwing out gang hand signals—ja ja. I can see DDenia as a gang leader.
I know some folks were tired of the Loafly story line, but it warmed my heart for Esteve to break out his true feelings. Also liked Venus making sure he was serious. We can’t all be great looking, give the dude a break.
Loved Fr/Ed whomping on Tangerine Boy and then hauling out the trash. I’m sure there’s a special circle of hell for the rich, selfish, entitled playboys. (Camilo, Frankie with his silk handkerchiefs from Destilando Amor, etc.).
La Paloma
I thought I'd be so much more moved at seeing Esteve and Venus get together at last, but it just got dragged out too long, I guess.
Esteve and Venus.... was a nice relief.....i was getting tired of the on and on talk of love .....
now lets see what evil barbie has to say to aurora tonight....that she is her mama?......wonder if she will also tell who the papa is????does anyone think it is AB????uck...can hardly wait to find out.....I don't think Erika will marry Fr/Ed once she finds out is Eduardo, Soledads the cooks son.......her best friends would never let the princess live it down.....someone needs to tell her.....maybe Gardenia..........yeah....lets see what is going to happen tonight....its all coming so fast now....BN in CA
