MEPS finale is Monday October 5: really 3.5 hours?

Hi all,

How can I find out if it's true that the finale is 3-1/2 hours, and if so, when it begins?

We have six volunteers:

Chris (it's his last recap since he's rejecting Sortilegio, sob)
Julie, Kat, me, Jardinero, Jody

I would prefer to go first or second.

My listings just show it in its regular time slot, so if it is longer the listings haven't been updated yet. I'll take the last part of the show on Gran Final night, since it will be my final as well, for a while.

My listings also show it in its regular time slot, but I just saw a commercial on Despierta America which says the starting time on Monday 10/5 is one hour earlier than normal. I normally see it at 9pm, and this last episode will start at 8 (7 central). In past TNs, that would mean a 2 hour gran final, but this one might go later. I'm in Oakland, CA, PDT.

I would also prefer one of the earlier slots if possible, because I'm going to bed earlier these days. :(

I'll take whatever is left since we're going in smaller segments. No hay problema.

I've seen similar promos as Jane. Apparently it will be a two-hour grand finale.

It has to be at least three hours. So 3.5 seems quite possible. I tallied the YouTube clips. A 1-hour episode totals 40 minutes of clips. The finale totals about 120 minutes of clips, three times as long.

When you consider how much has NOT happened in the show, is it surprising that they'll need at least three hours to finish everything?

Is it possible that they'll do 1.5 or 2 hours (with some rerun padding) on Friday night, then 2 more on Monday night? Because if it's starting at 8 ET on Monday as they're now saying in the commercials, it can't go 3.5 hours. Local stations do news or other programming at 11. (I only get the network feed now so I can't watch the local news any more, feh!)

I guess it's possible that they'd go over anyway, but it seems more likely that they'd just start earlier, during the Gancho slot, instead.

Paula, is it possible that there's a lot of filler/padding/rerun/flashbacks in those 120 minutes of clips that Univision will cut out? Or maybe some of the episodes in the last few weeks were half/hour eps instead of full hours, as they sometimes do during ulti caps in Mexico?

Julie and everyone - in mexico the last ten episodes before the two-hour finale were half hour episodes (and some of those were really short half hours with lots of commercials).

Julie and Jody: On the YouTube I saw (user mepsMNF), last night was #156. The half-hour caps start at #159. Ten half-hour caps, as you said. Then the finale, #169, is three times as long as the clips for a typical hour-long cap.

Julie, the US certainly could be spreading #169 over two days. But still, Jody says Mex had the ten half-hour caps, then the two-hour finale. It just doesn't add up. I'd doubt Uni would delete a third of the finale - finales are too lucrative.

Jody, I will be cryptic here because Julie DESPISES spoilers. For reference, at the very end of #168, the last cap before the finale, Fernanda says something VERY significant to Ed. Was that the pre-finale cap's ending for you, too?

As I said, it just doesn't add up, for me.

Paula -- In Mexico, Televisa actually aired the grand finale for MEPS on a Sunday night. So, who knows what Univision is planning to do. I do expect Univision to do some sort of tie-in between MEPS and Cristina show that airs right afterwards on Monday nights.

Jody :)
