MEPS - Wednesday, Sept. 9 - Jacinto tries to rescue a cat; Erika starts to play matchmaker; Gardenia still has a crush on Fr/Ed

EPISODE #141 (mexico #146) - Sept. 9, 2009:
* Jacinto and Margarita are having a delicious enchilada dinner and talk. A cat meows outside - apparently it's from another farm because both Jacinto and Margarita know it from its purr. Jacinto walks over to the sofa and takes out a present. He gives it to Margie. She's stunned by the surprise - it isn't her birthday. He says it isn't for her - just open it. She does. It's a wooden baby rattle. He thinks it's time for the stork to visit them. She thinks so also. They are so happy. He doesn't care if it's a boy or a girl, only that it doesn't have the character of Margie's grandfather. They laugh and hug.

* Franco and Erika have dinner and discuss Fer and Miguel's friendship in Spain, her love for Eduardo, and that Erika knows that Fer's family will never permit her to marry Eduardo, a servant's son.

* Jacinto goes to check on the cat outside. Margie sits and plays with the rattle.

* Barb sits in the home office and mutters to herself about how to convince Aurora to trust her and go away with her - far away from Gonzo and Artemio. Tomasa enters the office and tells Barbie that the police commissioner is there to speak with Gonzo. Barbie will meet with him. Commissioner enters the office - he's reporting about the investigation into Macario (apparently they found his body).

* Fer is intently reading Ana Gregoria's diary in her bedroom. She's at the part where Ana Gregoria describes Gonzo's first communion party and that Soledad (i think) goes to tell Geronimo that Ana Gregoria is in the wood waiting to see him. He looks around and sneaks away. In the woods near the large tree, Geronimo is surprised to see her there and tells her to leave before his wife finds out. Ana Gregoria tells Geronimo that she's very sick and desperate in need of money; she needs him to take care of her baby. She shows him the birth certificate with Artemio's name and her's and that the father's name isn't mentioned. Geronimo isn't interested in the birth certificate or helping with the baby. He throws the paper to the ground; hands her some coins and tells her to vacate the premises immediately. She hysterically cries as she walks away. He looks around and goes back to the party. Fer closes the diary and thought bubbles to self.

* Commissioner shows Barbie the identification that they found out Macario's body. Barbie acts shaken and stirred and cries in empathy. She says that the Elizalde's will handle all the funeral arrangements for the long-time dear employee. The commissioner says that the police are still conducting the autopsy to determine cause of death for Macario. Barbie is stunned and hopes that it will be resolved very quickly (she doesn't want a long drawn out investigation).

* Tomasa goes to Priscilla's room and sees Priscilla hasn't touched the food or drink on the tray. Priscilla isn't hungry. Tomasa talks her into at least drinking some milk for the baby. Priscilla tells her to leave the tray. Tomasa leaves the room. Priscilla thought bubbles and mumbles about her husband vs. Vladimir (does she say something and side with Vladi or does she do nothing and be an accessory to murder).

* Commissioner leaves. Barbie calls Tomasa over and tells her to keep the commissioner's visit to the hacienda a secret from everyone. Tomasa obeys.

* At the house, Erika leads Franco into the sitting room. She pounces on top of him on the sofa - he's very uncomfortable. She offers to fix him a cognac or something. He refuses. He stands and walks to the other side of the room. Erika starts to try and seduce him. He's really uncomfortable. He's saved by the phone ring - it's Margie telling him that Jacinto has been in an accident and he should come to the hospital ASAP. Franco tells Erika that his friend is in the hospital and he has to leave. Erika is adamant and tries everything she can to convince him to stay with her tonight. Franco is frustrated and tells her that he needs to leave - Jacinto is his friend like Miguel is yours. He leaves. Erika grunts with disappointment.

* Fer talks with Santi on the phone about her visit with Aurora. She tells Santi that Barbie set the whole thing up with Aurora. This gets Santi really shaken and angry - so angry that he splashes and scrubs red paint on his art canvas. He mumbles, grumbles and grunts his disgust over Barbie to Fer. He hangs up. Fer mumbles to herself about the rest of the truth about Aurora and the baby and his brother Camilo, and also how to tell daddy without jeopardizing his health.

* At the hospital, Margie cries on Eduardo's shoulder about Jacinto giving her the baby rattle, and then Jacinto going outside, climbed the tree to rescue the cat and fell out. She's so worried about him - if he has a concussion - what would she do without Jacinto in her life. Eduardo consoles her. Dr. Carlos walks out to the hallway. Margie and Franco both ask him how Jacinto is?

* Martina and Steve are frustrated as they confront Venus about her plans for Camilo and the engagement party. Venus won't
reveal what deviousness she has planned.

* Dr. Carlos tells them there's no concussion but they are still cautious about Jacinto's injuries and takes them into Jacinto's room.

* Steve is really frustrated by Venus not telling him any of her plans. He mumbles about going to the office to send some emails back home to New York. He leaves. Venus and Martina argue about Venus' vagueness with Steve and her attitude. Venus loves Steve but won't tell him because she thinks he's not interested in dating or loving her at all.

* Steve taps out on his laptop an email that he will conclude his report when he arrives back home in New York.

* Dr. Carlos gives Franco and Margie the diagnosis and treatment for Jacinto - he has a few broken ribs and some contusions - they are relieved. Margie is still upset and Eduardo consoles and makes her laugh with the thought bubble about Jacinto's full recovery and going home and joking about Jacinto being the cat rescuer. Before Eduardo leaves, he tells Margie that he thinks of Jacinto as his brother.

* Jacomo and his associate Candido are in the car, waiting and spying on Vladimir's apartment building. Jacomo tells Candido they will plan to kidnap Vladimir that night.

* At the family dinner, Priscilla and Anibal inform Gonzo, Barbie and Fer that they will name their child Anibal after the baby's father. Barbie makes her excuse to leave - she has a massage appointment and has other things to do before Camilo's engagement party. Anibal comments that he wouldn't miss his brother's party for the world and smiles. Gonzo wants to go with her. Barbie tells him that's not necessary. She leaves. Fer thought bubbles to herself that Barbie is lying; she is really planning on visiting Aurora at the convent.

* Eduardo and Margie bring Jacinto back home. Jacinto grunts, grimaces and grumbles as they help him into the bed. Jacinto is upset that Margie called Eduardo. Eduardo explains he wouldn't want to be anywhere else but there to help his brother when he needs him the most.

* Fer waits by the stairs as Barbie leaves and the door closes. She runs upstairs.

* Margie excuses herself to go to the market. Jacinto complains. Eduardo sits on the bed and promises not to leave his side. Jacinto tells Margie don't be gone to long. Margie leaves.

* Fer calls the convent and advises Aurora about Barbie's visit today.

* Eduardo reads Don Quixote story in the paper. Jacinto falls fast asleep.

* Eduardo moves out to the dining table, sits and pours himself a glass of water. He starts to read the paper again as Gardenia enters. She gazes at him with a goofy grin on her face.

* Fer continues reading the diary. This time she at the end when Ana Gregoria is writing about her illness and her prayers for her baby boy. Flashback to Ana Gregoria laying on the street steps, sick and crying a prayer that God watch over her son. Fer closes the book and hugs it before setting it on her bedside table. Erika knocks and asks permission as she enters the room. Erika wants to invite Fer to coffee and to gossip with her about what's happening in their lives.

* Gardenia returns to Eduardo and says Jacinto is sleeping like a newborn baby. Eduardo says that's expected - he just got home from the hospital. Gardenia asks where's Margie? Eduardo says she had to go to the market. Gardenia then asks him a blunt question about his secretive meetings with Fer in her office. He's stunned.

* At the end of the jai lai game, Vladimir answers his cell phone. He's delighted that Priscilla is calling him. She wants to tell him something - he only wants to see her. She's worried about Anibal. He's not worried; he knows the plan is to get the DNA test and to announce to the world that he is really the father, not Anibal. Priscilla says that's why she's worried - she knows Anibal way too well and thinks he may try something. Vladimir is confident about their plan and his moving them to Monterrey to live. She wants him to leave town now. Vladimir tries to calm her. She's still worried.

* Eduardo and Gardenia argue about his wedding to Erika; and all his secret meetings with Fer. He has to explain that they had to meet secretly to figure out how to get Lili away from her kidnapper and not jeopardize Lili's life in the process. That's all. She then asked him if he was in love with Fer, to which he replied "no", leading her to believe maybe she still has a chance with him. He is flustered.

* Erika and Fer discuss her work with Franco. Erika dreams about her fiance and then tells Fer that she wants Fer to join them for a weekend bachelor/bachelorette party at her aunt and uncle's ranch - just the four of them (Fer, Erika, Franco and Miguel). (For those wondering, the actor playing Miguel is Rafael Novoa, who played Eduardo in the Columbian version of this telenovela, called Pura Sangre). Fer is intrigued.

* Eduardo has to explain again to Gardenia that he thinks of her as his little sister and that's all. Gardenia cries and tells Eduardo that her feelings for him are much more than that - she wants to love and care for him like Jacinto and Margie do for each other. Eduardo is really frustrated. Jacinto wakes up with all the shouting from Gardenia as she makes her argument to be with Eduardo. Eduardo tells her NO!! Gardenia wonders if he loves Erika? Eduardo says Yes, he does. Gardenia doesn't believe him.

* Barbie waits outside the convent.

* In the office, MS, Sister Fidelia and Aurora talk. Aurora agrees to meet with Barbie. MS tells Fidelia to take Barbie to Aurora's room. Alone in the office, MS tells Aurora that after talking with Fer, she suspects that Barbie is behind all the evilness done to Aurora at the hacienda. Aurora knows that Fer suspects Barbie for the same reasons. Aurora then tells MS that Barbie ordered the fake italian guy to take her from the convent and meet with Barbie in another location. MS reminds Aurora that she doesn't have to hide the truth from her - she's always on her side.

* Erika and Fer laugh about Fer's old friendship with Miguel. Fer thinks it was just a teenage friendship. Erika tries to play matchmaker and convince Fer to come to the ranch and meet Miguel again. Fer pauses and tries to come up with excuse to refuse to go. Erika is adamant about Fer accepting the invitation - she mentions Damian - Fer says that's officially over - Erika wonders if Fer now has a secret boyfriend.

ADVANCE: Exploding bombshells at Camilo and Lovely's engagement party!

thanks for the recap.....Who beat up Jacinto?.....i saw him go outside but did not see anyone beat him up.....and why.....unless Camilo had something to do with it????
Erika needs to smell the coffee....Fr/Ed wants nothing to do with her romatically and the more she throws herself at him the more he backs away.....
I hope vladi takes Pris's advice and takes a hike soon....he may soon be at the bottom of the hill with the old man they just found.......how about that....sooner or later......as they say.....I can hardly wait til the party....maybe esteve will not let Venus tell all she is the town ho....maybe he will be the galan and save her.......I hope so.....some one needs to get romantic in this novela....
can anyone see barbie is getting sloppy in her lies and scams... i think she is letting this Aurora thing get to her.......BNinCA

Someone the other night asked, How many people read these recaps? I too was wondering?.....I know that it took me along time to make a comment to the blog..... I use to just come everyday and read....I still come everyday and once and a while i will comment....love this place.....everyone is so nice....well its 11:48 California time.....good night

Thanks for the recap Jody! You are quick! I got to read the recap right after watching the show.

I KNEW that cat outside Marge & Jacinto's house sounded phony! I too, think Camilho had something to do with Jacinto getting beaten.

I wonder if they will find a spiked heel mark on the old man's body?

Well, it seems both Nanda and Fr/Ed are having second thoughts about other romantic interests... Fr/Ed, what did our very own Kat right here at Caray tell you about obsessive women??? DON'T say you love them (you don't think that little tidbit will get back to Erika?). And for heaven's sake DON'T hesitate and act all flustered if they ask if they have a chance with you! Boy you are dense.

Someone please tell me what I missed - did Pris and Vlad decide to move away together? What's this about Monterrey? And what was that thing Pris was wearing? She's not pregnant enough to be wearing circus tents.

Hi Jody...okay, you got me going again with Barb acting "shaken and stirred". LOL. Was not expecting the attack on Jacinto...wonder what that's about? Well, at least it gave Franco an excuse to escape Erika's clutches. Look forward to seeing this later today but thanks for the recap, amiga.

Thanks for the recap Jody. I must have been really tired because I thought Marg said Jacinto climbed a tree to get the cat down and fell. Maybe I was just making that up in my head!

Finally, they find the old guy! About time. What an efficient team of investigators they have there. Ha!

Erika is starting to annoy me. She just barges in on people whenever she feels like it. Work, home, it doesn't matter. I'd be mad if she set me up with some guy like that. Even if I kind of know him...Ack!

Gardenia--GET OVER IT! He's not going to love you.

I think we're supposed to be disliking Errika - her snobbishness, her sense of entitlement - so we won't feel bad for her that her marriage is a non-starter. I, too, thought Jacinto climbed a tree (to rescue the cat) and fell out of it.

She is a snot isn't she? You could tell Fr/Ed was getting pissed. Not only when she was talking about the cook's son but also when she was talking about going to see Jacinto you could tell she just couldn't understand why someone of his status would be friends with someone from a lower class. I really hate that attitude.

Another great recap. Just a word of appreciation for all the great writing done on these telenovels. They serve as a much-needed escape from the crazy, corporate world.

Keep up the great job keeping us inform (especially ones lacking in our Spanish skills).

My Spanish skills are not great, but I also thought Jacinto fell out of a tree trying to rescue the cat.

Sondie

Thanks for the recap, Jody. I missed a bit, flipping b/f with another channel.

Why did they have Jacinto fall out of the tree? Just a mechanism for Err to show her 'tude toward the underclaass, and eddy to show his loyalty to his hermano? She has already shown herself to be a grating character, no need to beat us over the head with it. She is a good example of a bad example. FUERA!

Marcario finally turned up, I was holding out for a milagro, and they'd have spared him. Babs reaction was a bit phony thru the eyes of el comisario, it seemed to me. She is going to get caught in this "secret", why would she try and keep it quiet, it only makes her look involved, makes no sense.

Pris is going to have to be more persuasive to save Vlad. Jacobo&Cia are ready to whack him, and he's ready to walk in to their trap. I guess he had a plan to whisk her away to Monterey when the baby is born. i hope he goes in advance, like Pris asked him to, but no doubt they will grab him, I hope she does something more to save his hide.

Gardenia, Gardenia, give up on Eduardo. She was looking especially fetching last nite, simple white and yellow, and great closeups. Eddy is not mortal, a mortal couldn't resist.

I hope Abora has enough gumtion to pull some info out of Babs tonite, she's been such a trapo mojado doormat.

Looking forward to tonite!

Thanks Jody for your fast recap.
What question did Gardenia ask Fr/Ed that stunned him? What did the doctor say about Jacinto's wounds? What was Errika saying to
Fr/Ed that made him uncomfortable with her (about Jacinto)? We non Spanish speakers need some of the dialogue to get the gist of the story.
Thanks again.

Jody THANKS...you and all the other re-cappers are doing such a great job, I know it must take a lot of your time. Those of us who only qualify to "comment" really do appreciate your time and work.

Am I the only one who thinks that they are putting really dark makeup on EdFr in order to make him look more campesino? He seems so much darker than in earlier TNs. He wears it well though.

The actress that plays Erica, Marisol, must hate the words that the writers are putting in her mouth about the "help's" son...pretty bad. It's working, we're all liking her less and less. Her plan is sweet though, finding a beau for Fer.

Hello new posters....just jump right in, all comments welcome!

Anon, 9:46 on the Erica/EdFr part. In general, Erica was commenting on the fact that a wealthy family like the Elizaldes would never let their daughter marry the son of a hacienda worker...like Eduardo is in fact. And then she went on to say that it was "inappropriate" for EdFr to take his time, as a member of the "upper" class to go to the hospital to see Jacinto, a member of the working class. It was a glimpse, supposedly, on the class differences in Mexico. Of course, Eduardo is the son of Soledad, a hacienda worker, and that is why the scene was painful for all of us to watch. That why EdFR declared at the hospital that he felt that Jacinto was his brother, a solidarity move. That is how I interpreted the scene.

Sandy in TN

Tks Jody,

I couldn't figure out at all what happened to Jacinto, I'll have to watch you-tube.

No sooner said than done, Jacinto is in the hospital. We are way below the novela quota on hospital scenes.

Erika really cooked her own goose with her lack of compassion for Jacinto.

All Fr/Ed has to say now is, you wouldn't want the son of a servant, I'm Eduardo.

So much for thinking Jerónimo would have been the good guy, if he hadn't been in Europe visiting Gonzito. Those did look like gold coins though. Why didn't Ana Gregoria go to a church for help?

Great catch on the birth certificate Jody, that didn't dawn on me that Soledad found it there.

How many ways do you have to say no to Gardenia? She is really dense, great store-boughts though.

Just googled Pura Sangre, there was a Venezuela version in 1994 & a Colombian version in 2007 (Rafael Novoa was in Colombian version). Seems odd they would rehash it so soon.

Thanks for the great recap, Jody. I like your writing style, a very easy read.

Anon 9:46 Gardenia asked Fr/ed why he and Fer were always locking themselves up in Fer's office. I think that's what stunned him a little. He went on to explain that they had to meet secretely to figure out how to get Lili away from her kidnapper. She then asked him if he was in love with Fer, to which he replied "no" , leading her to believe maybe she still has a chance with him. As for Jacinto, I think the Dr. said he had a few broken ribs and some contusions. Marianne

Sandy,
I don't think Erika's plan is meant to be sweet, it's more like
"keep your cotton picking claws off my novio, I'm finding you a replacement". Looks like Miguel is from a "high class" family, so I think he & Erika will end up together. That leaves our hunkisimo campesino & Fernanda for each other.

After this I'll quit commenting and get back to work!

Vario, yes why didn't Ana Gregorio just go to a church, they would have taken her in. That was a horrible scene, lying on the street in the rain, dying with your infant in your arms...so sad. I didn't like that one.

Sandy in TN

Jody, thanks for the great recap. I thought that Gardenia looked especially appealing last night and Erica is revealing a rather ugly side of her personality. I'm finding this side of her unconvincing. She has always come across as shallow and silly, but not insensitive and cold-hearted. I know that she was disappointed, but I would have expected the Erica we've seen up to now to have offered to tag along with him to the hospital.

Carlos

I was thinking the same thing Sandy. Or she could have gone to the convent (assuming there was one around at that time.) Someone had to find Artemio or she left him with someone before she died.

You're probably right Vario..."Keep your cotton picking claws off"....but at least it is the plan of a reasonable mind, not some convoluted hair brained scheme like so many of the other characters in this novela!!!

Sandy in TN

Carlos, I agree on Erica. That is why I said that the writers put those words in the characters mouth! Erica would have never missed an opportunity to tag along with Franco and basically she is kind hearted.

I don't think that any man, real or fictional, has resisted the charming advances of so many attractive young girls like our galan EdFr has. He is a SAINT. He is even resisting the subtle advances of his love Fernanda....wow. He needs to run for political office in the US, non of those characters ever resist anything.

Now I really will get back to work!

Sandy

Is anyone covering for Pasofino today? I didn't see if anyone had volunteered. If not, I can.

Jody: Thanks for the recap. As to Esteve, it's hard for me not to crack up when I see this forty-something paleface wearing a crooked red wig act like a twenty-something boob having a fit.

I thought Jacinto said the cat must be Chucho's. He went outside, climbed the tree and fell out.

Gloria: THANKS. I am leaving this afternoon. I will be very grateful if you would do the recap today. Talk to you all next week.

Jody, thanks for the recap - it really helps with conprehension.

Gloria, I think Kat said that she could do it but I am not positive that it was a done deal.

rsk

5 ft said she would do she would do the recap.

What is that bldg behind Ana Gregoria, maybe they rescue her & Artemito.

Thanks for the recap, Jody!

I thought it was strange on Tuesday when they mentioned the cat meowing, then dropped it. When they came back to it and Jacinto said he was going to get it out of the tree, I just knew something bad was going to happen! I'm glad it's just a bunch of broken ribs and nothing worse. Thankfully, so far we've got no comas and no amnesia, lol.

I did volunteer for this evening and I'm still happy to do it, but Gloria, I will cede to you if you prefer. I'm good either way.

Thanks Jody, that was a great episode and you recapped it very well. Looks like the majority rules here because I'm casting my vote for Jacinto falling out of a tree trying to rescue the cat. I agree with Melinama that we are supposed to dislike Erika. She's doing an excellent job of being annoying. BUT, personally I was glad when she made those put down remarks about Eduardo, and Jacinto I was kinda glad to see him squirm. Since she's not taking any hints, maybe she can get him to take some. After all, who's tricking who in this situation. As annoying as Erika is, she sincerely wants to marry Franco. He's the one that's uncomfortable but hanging in there anyway.

i don't believe jacinto was beat up. i think that when he heard a cat crying, he went outside. there he apparently attempted to rescue a cat which had climbed a tree and was crying out to be rescued. he then fell out of the tree and hit his head. initially Dr Carlos was cautious in his diagnosis about the brain injury, but it appears that he is recovering (unless he falls again as he tries to get out of bed when hears gardenia loudly arguing with eduardo...) eduardo even kidded him about being a cat savior.

carolina

I wonder what was the point of Jacinto falling out of a tree? Were they under quota on hospital scenes? Maybe it gave the writers a way to show us just how shallow Erika is so we won't be so angry at Fr/ed & Fer for going behind her back. Her not wanting Fr/ed to go to the hospital because she had hoped he'd spend the night with her was beyond shallow.
We're running out of time for much romance between Eduardo & Fer. Looking forward to the fiest. I hope Venus has something brilliant planned.
Marianne

Thanks for the recap Jody. Fer did seem to get a bit of a wistful look when she thought/heard about Miguel being there. Now, I can see Err telling Fr/Ed that Fer was really excited hearing about Mig and we can again see the famed Fr/Ed jaw clench/jut. :)

Finally found the old man, not sure how easy it would be to find him as you wouldn't know where to look for him... but they did. Good job by the cops, methinks.

I hope they don't do in Vlad. I hope/assume they'll blow the job.

JeffMN

Well dang. I was hoping it would turn out that Jeronimo never was given a chance to do the right thing, but I was completely wrong. Anibal is very, very much his grandparents' grandson.

Gonzo doesn't seem to be as much of a jerk, but Artemio got a quadruple-helping of rottenness, so I guess it all works out.

thank you everyone for the correction on Jacinto's injuries, as well as Gardenia and Eduardo's conversation. I now have corrected the recap.

if there are any other mistakes, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Pasofino - have fun on your trip. i'm assuming you'll be part of the cristina show taping with Fernando. I know that Fernando will have an abundance of fans in the audience.

The part of Miguel is being played by Rafael Novoa (Eduardo in the Columbian version of Pura Sangre).

Jody :)

Thanks, Jody. I love the little mini-epoca in the middle of this modern novela , but watching the cruelty of Jeronimo and Altagracia towards poor young Ana is hard to endure. I agree that the scene of her holding the baby as she is failing is heartwrenching. She seemed to be leaning on the side of a fountain so she could be in the town square or at a convent where someone will rescue Baby Artie. I also agree that the writers are helping us dislike Er as she reveals her class prejudice. As soon as she finds out that Guaypo is the cook's son, he will lose his appeal and she'll clear the way for Ed and Fer and release him from his promise to marry her. Can we all say Shallow Er ? By the way, Santi seems to be channeling Crabby Gaby in his latest art phase. I'm going to get a canvas and slap on some broad strokes and call myself an ARtiste, too. One more thing : Earth to Gardenia...Remember the definition of insanity...It's when you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. Time to look elsewhere for amor because Fr'ed is just not having it...He's thinking about England pretty much all of the time. p.s. The other day Hombre had a great list of possible endings for each character. As soon as I read his hypothesis of Gardenia in the convent as a nun, I immediately had the score from ''Sound of Music'' running through my brain : ''How Do You Solve a Problem Like Gardenia?''

I think Erika's attitude, snobby and insensitive as it might be, is realistic given the environment in which she was raised. Even Fer is still called "Senora" by Flor, Gardenia, Jacinto and Margarita despite the fact they were childhood friends. It's just how it is. Ironically, it was the fact that Eduardo was sent away and educated that has made it possible for him and Fer to get together socially even though it caused them to be separated for so many years. Had he remained at home, he would most likely have become an "empleado" somewhere like Jacinto and I doubt he and Fernanda would have had much in common. That's more like real life. Instead they idealized each other and then met again as two intelligent, educated adults with a spiritual connection from the past that never died. In the same way, Eduardo would never be able to have Gardenia as his wife. She's just not his equal intellectually and neither of them would be happy. JMHO

So Jacinto fell out of a tree? Whenever my cats go up a tree I leave them there. I figure they'll come down when they get hungry, and sure enough they do!

I really, really hope they don't kill Vlad. There seems to be an extra dose of cruelty in the Elizalde men's genes regarding "bastard" children. Anyballs acts like he's just as bad as his grandfather. Poor kid needs a real dad and Pris needs someone who loves her.

Great recap, Jody!!!

I guess Jacinto's accident will put his and Marge's baby plans on hold for a while. Maybe that's why she was crying.

I wonder if we will find out who finally raised Artemio and how he came into all his power???

Ann-NYC

My VCR doesn't record captions. Did anyone catch the "dicho" that Vlad quoted when he was talking on the phone to Priscilla. Something about "el valiente mumble mumble lo que el cobarde quiere"...or something like that.

Carlos? anybody?....thanks...sounded like a good dicho but without closed captions I can't be sure what he said...

el valiente hace lo que el cobarde quiere?

I caught the meaning, but I can't remember the specific words

Anon 1:18- excellent point about the separation/education of Eduardo making this whole thing a possibility. He's even a QB! Shades of that movie "Shampoo" from years ago.

5ft- that's a pretty acurate memory of the dicho, at least as I remember it. That's one for the notebook.

Seems to me, the story of AGB was that she raised the baby Artemio, but it looks otherwise. I had the same thought as someone earlier- why didn't she go to the church. Pobrecita. Also, did we see Soledad pick up the birth cert? I was flipping channels, might have missed it...

We didn't see it, but it's implied.

I try to turn off my curiosity so I don't get frustrated waiting for the big quetions to be answered, but I am really starting to wonder about AB's story post-diary. I do hope they give us something good. They've had the whole run of the show to come up with something.

Thanks so much to you recappers!

I'll be on vacation the week of 9/20, traipsing around Oregon with hubby and son. They'll make fun of me every day when I run for a TV or internet connection to see what's happening with MEPS. But that's what I'll be doing. But I must say, even without much speaking practice, I've found myself much more confident about striking up a conversation in Spanish than in my pre-novela days.

Hi Jody, I am doing a drive by comment out the window of my computer. HA, and thanks for another great job and now this heavy story is stumbling to the finish line in October. I haven't seen a specific grand finale date but once again there are so many loose ends to tie up. I too hope one of the solutions for Vladi's inconvenient presence is NOT to kill him off. Maybe the pony-tailed cousin will get caught in the act before Vladi is offed. In spite of his fawning almost creepy ways, his heart is pure and his motives noble. I know that doesn't mean squat about his survival probability, but sheeeshh, enough killing of the innocents already.

I hope we find out about the post diary days of Artemio too. His revenge motive against the whole family is a puzzle, especially they need to fill in why he held a grudge against Eduardo's saintly Mama who was a mere child when all the nasty things happened to AnaG. They showed the birth paper on the ground but I wonder if we will see it picked up tonight?

I agree that Erika has been annoyingly bubbleheaded but kind and looking for any excuse to hang out with Franco, I guess we had to have Erika turn ugly in order to make her failed wedding less painful, but did we have to have poor loving Jacinto fall out of a tree to show us her fatal snob flaw? Maybe Jac will spend more time in bed and the baby will be a lovely side effect of his convalesence...

Jody: Another wonderful recap. Terrific - thank you.

Xintperuvian, excellent point about cruelty running rampant in the Elizade family. Remarkable, extreme prejudice against children, some whom they fathered and others they didn't. If Vlad is killed, he will never get to see or hold the child he so obviously loves. Ani will NEVER love the child. I really hope Vlad is spared.

Kat, I hope they show more of Artermio after his mother's death and how he became the powerful monster he is now.

Glad Jacinto is all right. It seems to me that several crucial scenes were edited last night and not for the better.

haha...shades of Indiana Jones..."Well, Margarita, it doesn't hurt here...or here...or here...."

Thanks Kat...that makes sense. And our Vlad is "valiente" even though he's mushy and sentimental and trusts the wrong people. Let's hope he survives and that what the "cobardes quieren" doesn't come to pass.

I hope he survives, too, and gets to raise his child, but I also hope he does it without being with Pris. Those two have too much baggage and I shudder to think of them telling the "how I met your mom/dad" story.

It seems Priscilla may be softening towards Vlad. She may not have cared for his nuttiness, but she's not bad and doesn't want him killed. I was sure he'd be dead by the end, but maybe he'll be spared. Since Anibal shows no signs of redemption, he'll be toast and Pris can get together with Vlad, someone wqho really cares for her. It's a thought.

Also, it should be illegal for doctors to look very distressed and to have scary, "he's dead" music in the background when the patient will clearly be fine.

And that's the latest from Gringolandia.

Didn't they say earlier in the show that she (AG) put a curse on the town? Or is that just my imagination?

Connie - i could be wrong but i think the gossip around town was that she or her death put a curse on the family.

Jody :)

That's how I remember it too. Where did we hear that though? Was it from the Primary Care Witch?

Great to hear from you, Cheryl!

I think Artemio Bravo said to Liliana that he had to have Barbara get Soledad out of the picture, even though he admired her, because she was the only one who knew who he really was.

I don't think Fer has any interest in Miguel at all. She was fairly horror stricken when Erika came up with all those memories of his having been in love with Fer way back when. She scoffed and said that that was adolescence, no biggie. The puzzled, speculative look on Fer's face was because Erika (sneakily) asked if maybe she wasn't excited about Miguel because she had someone else on her mind.

Connie, I believe the conversation about the curse was between Fr/Ed and Silvestre.

Ah, yes. I wonder if that will come back in the picture?

Someone mentioned the cast being on Cristina. Does anyone know when that is? I can't find it in the online tv guide or on her website.

It's usually the night the show ends I think.

Anon 05:12, if the cast goes on Cristina, it is usually the first Cristina (Monday nights) after the show ends. I remember seeing Ultimas Semanas for MEPS 2 weeks ago, Friday. I believe Jardinera said Ultimas S... means there are 6 weeks left. So, almost 2 weeks down, still 4 weeks before MEPS ends, then the Cristina show... if there is one... Usually is...

One thing I was wondering about last night, and maybe some of you could shed some light on this. Does Gonzo still think Lili is with Obregon? Other than worrying that Obregon might get his hands on the Elizalde dinero, Gonzo seems to have no interest at all in where his missing daughter is. (You remember Lilliana don't you,Gonzo? She's the daughter who has spent the last 15 years in a mental hospital having her brain fried...) He hasn't asked about Lili in eons. Another wonderful example of Elizalde men caring about their children... hell, it IS in the genes.

Xintperuvian... With this show, it is hard to figure out the timelines... but, Gonzo has wondered why Camilo was looking to get married because of the Lili situation. He has stated he trusts (yeah, sure) that when he gives Barb the money, she'll be sure to take care of Lili. So, I think he has been showing concern ... albeit he had her committed for 15 years. :) Question to me is, he seems to act better to others than I would expect after seeing what, via the diary, his parents were like. :)

details, details, details, I was trying to remember a tree at Jacintos, so I checked capitulo 145.5 at 1:43. Such a tiny tree, maybe 5ft & skinny. The tiniest kitten wouldn't have any problem with that one, Jacinto fell out of it????

The story about the curse, as I remember it, is that they had a few bad seasons where the cows didn't give any milk. This was according to Silvestre, Martina's dad.

I don't recall if he said that SHE openly cursed them, or if they simply believed that she had cursed them. She didn't strike me as the type to put a curse on someone even if she knew how. (Assuming it's more complicated that merely saying "may all your cows dry up!!")

Have we seen BOTH sides of Jacinto's house? Maybe there's a bigger tree on the other side. Or maybe he's lying about the tree, and someone did jump him.

The kitten sounded like it was right outside the door & that's the way Jacinto went out. I think it's a flaw of the writers. Not the 1st.
I've always wondered why there were no trees around, so I had to check.
