ENDA October 16. An unholy alliance is formed.

From Thursday: Emiliano’s love cures all ills. Paloma decides she can overcome her crisis of faith and marry him, and she goes off to talk to Carlota about it. Romina catches Rafael and Camila sittin’ in a tree…er, standing in the parlor, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.

Today: Romina, hoping to avert the love, marriage, and baby carriage crisis, throws a tantrum. She makes a good argument for avoiding parenthood, if nothing else. Camila begs for forgiveness and swears she was not seeing Rafael before he filed for divorce, but Romina is convinced they are having a huge torrid affair and it is a huge betrayal she will nunca jamás forgive, not least because Rafa is the father of the love of her life. Romina says they are no longer family. She leaves.

Rafa sits on a stone wall and calls Joel for reinforcement.

Cruelota refuses to discuss a wedding while she’s still thinking up a way to murder Emiliano, oops, I mean because they are still in mourning. Cruelota thinks Paloma is just flighty and capricious. Paloma swears it’s the real deal and they are going to marry, so Cruel gets all purple and crafty and says she will support them if it lasts, but it’s best to wait awhile. Marrying so soon would just look bad. She refuses to speak to Emiliano yet. After Paloma leaves, she goes back to her fake praying and gets an evil glint in her eye.

Camila sobs and gets Romina’s voicemail. Romina sits in a café ignoring the calls. She looks sad, but probably just because everything is not suiting her whims, not because she feels bad about the misery she’s causing.

Paloma reports to Emo that Cruel doesn’t think they’re really in love. Emo doesn’t care and doesn’t want to wait to marry, and to heck with Cruel. Paloma likes the way he thinks.

Rafael and Joel meet at Rafa’s apartment so that he can properly wallow in misery, in a bathrobe. He must have already finished the ice cream; I don’t see it. Joel thinks the divorce will be more complicated if Diana finds out about Camila. Rafa is more worried that things are bad between Camila and her daughter. Joel reminds him he also needs to worry about Emiliano, who is after all Diana’s son.

Romina goes to Germán’s apartment. He momentarily freaks out that Emiliano could arrive at any moment, but his hormones quickly short out his brain. They kiss passionately and stagger to the bedroom.

The Purple Peoplekiller rants that a wedding is the last thing she needs. She’ll solve this by making Paloma realize that Emiliano is not for her.

Rafael calls Camila, feeling horribly guilty about the whole situation. He thinks they need each other more than ever now, and offers to try to talk to Romina. Cami thinks it’s hopeless, and isn’t sure it’s a good idea for them to be together.

Emiliano returns to the bachelor pad. The movie is still playing, but Germs is not in sight. Germy and Romina, on the bed, stop mid-writhe but don’t answer Emo’s calls. Finally Germs goes out to listen to Emiliano’s swoony report that he and Paloma are in love and will marry soon regardless of Cruel’s crabbiness. Romina overhears all this, and leaves while Emiliano is looking the other way. Emo hears the door slam and teases Germy about sneaking out a lady friend, but doesn’t know who it was.

Emo moons.

Paloma and Emo exchange sweet nothing text messages.

The next day:

Carlota yells at Licenciado Rosas. He will help her whether he likes it or not. Rosas thinks it’s too late; Dr. Bermúdez knows too much and won’t stop investigating. Carlota wants to send Rosas on a long all-expenses-paid vacation. He agrees, not knowing what kind of one-way trips she typically sends people on. They will destroy the evidence before he goes.

The madre superiora wants Cris to give classes to the kids. He’ll think about it. Romina and Paloma walk by, and Cris asks to speak with Paloma. Romina looks irritated and/or suspicious.

Camila, completely falling apart, calls Angélica and begs her to see her.

Padre JuanCris wants to help Paloma get her faith back and marry Emiliano. They share a long hug.

Rafael and Emiliano meet for breakfast. Rafa tells Emo about Camila. Emo is not at all happy, but is gracious and understanding. They agree that Diana would NOT be understanding.

Romina makes a call, presumably to Aaron, and says that he needs to make her (presumably Paloma) feel bad. Now that’s love. She hangs up and calls Carlota, offering to form an alliance. When Paloma appears she claims to have been looking for a room to rent, as she needs to move after the awful thing she found out. Romina spews crocodile tears while Paloma hugs her.

Rafael just can’t stay away. He goes to Camila’s shop. Bad move. Camila wants to end their partnership and their friendship so she can try to fix things with Romina by letting her get her bratty way as usual.

Emiliano talks to Padre Juan about his parents’ divorce. PJ counsels him to be supportive of them both but not to feel responsible for any of it; this is their business.

Romina recounts the horror of The Kiss to Paloma. She thinks it is absolutely the worst thing that could ever possibly happen, and calls Camila a slut (golfa). Paloma is shocked and defends Camila. Romina says she can’t look Diana in the face and must leave her house, but her mother still has control of her money and she has nothing. She asks to stay with Paloma.

At the office, Orlando chastises Emiliano for not focusing on his work. Emo says he’ll get the batteries in (poner las pilas). After Orly leave, Emo moons.

Paloma doesn’t think Cruelota will agree to have Romina as a guest, and doesn’t look happy at the prospect of asking. Romina hands Paloma off to Aaron, who gets straight to the abuse setup by accusing her of treating him coldly and just using him. Paloma and her new backbone protest that he was the one telling people they were novios and she never led him on, but she is polite and apologizes for the misunderstanding. He says he wants her. Run, Paloma, run.

Cruelota goes to Dr. Rodolfo’s office to yell at him to stay away from her family, right in front of his secretary. She threatens to sue him for extortion and intimidation if he doesn’t stop his investigation. It is ever more a mystery why she has a reputation as a fine upstanding citizen. All Carlota ever does is yell and threaten people, when she’s not busy murdering them. The doc smiles to himself. There must be something to find if she’s trying to stop him.

Rufi flips through an address book and finds Carmen’s information.

Orlando reminds Emiliano that he said he had some papers on marketing strategies which they could apply at the platería. They go off to Emo’s house to get them.

Paloma tells Rufi she’s not really excited about helping Romina. Rufi says that’s because Romina is a bad friend. Paloma still feels sorry for her. Rufi thinks Romina should just make up with Camila, and if she stays with the Espinoza de los Monstruos family Paloma will either have to stay away from Emo or tell Romina they’re novios.

Romina convinces Cruelota to go along with her plan and compliments her on being such a great maestra of evil. Carlota is pleased. That’s probably the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to her.

Paloma asks Cruelota for permission for Romina to stay in their house. Cruel agrees too easily and Paloma is stunned. Carlota claims Mac’s death has made her more sensitive, and she wants Paloma to be happy.

Orlando and Emiliano go to Diana’s house. Orly waits in the living room while Emo goes to look for the papers and calls out to Diana. Orlando sees a photo of Diana and is muy, pero muy impactado. It is Gudelia!

Avances: Cruelota and Romina act like jerks.

Great recap Julia. Love your sarcasm.

I know I've asked this before, and believe me, I've looked at the ENDA website to try to find the answer, and I still can't find the name of the Chris and Mac song--the song that played every time they were together and that plays when there is a flashback to that time.

Can someone answer my burning question? Thanks!

Ahhh, thank you Julia for your excellent recap!
It is much as I suspected. Orlando appears to be on the brink of discovering his long lost offspring is..... Emiliano!! And E is on the brink of discovering that Germie's secret squeeze is actually Romina. Wow. And the "unholy alliance"...? Holy mackrel!
Next week should be absolutely riveting! I can't wait to see the reunion of Diana (Gedulia) and Orlando.
!Disfrute del fin de semana!

Julia, thanks for the great recap and stepping in to help. I appreciate all of the time you give to this endeavor.

Anon 6:22 - I think you are looking for Laura Pausini, "Cada Color al Cielo" (Each Color to Heaven).

Next week should be great for the viewers but not so good for Diana, I can hardly wait.

Thanks for the great recap. First I want to say that I liked how the opening and closing credits were changed. I think that ENDA will start to get interesting now that Carlota and Romina have joined forces.

Now I actually hope that Camila stays with Orlando because if she does and Romina succeeds in getting Emiliano then Romina will have a fit when she finds out that Orlando is really Emiliano's father.

I thought Carlota's fake praying was funny. Looks like Orlando will finally find out the truth about being Emiliano's real father.

First things first the new opening I like it finally the star of the show gets first billing she leap froged Padre Cris.
Im not trying to be a spoiler but Carlota is in ALL 167 Episodes she should have had first credit always I do not like the fact that Macarena (V.Ruffo) is no longer in the opening credits at all but thats off topic.
To the the episode at hand great episode it starts off with a huge slap to Rominas face and ends with Bloomin Onion (Orlando) finally finding where Gudelia is lives and wouldent you know it its Emoonyano's Mother.(shock to him)
Oh yeah thanks to the new recapper I hate to say it but I kinda liked that Camila apologized to Romina for slaping her of course explaining that she cannot allow her daughter to speak to her like that.
Wow I cant wait for Carlota and Romina ploting away should make for some great dinner table scenes with the 3 women Im sure.
And wow Orlando if he does the math and since he knew Gudelia was preggers in that instant knew Emiliano was his son heavy and this is for another episode for me to worry about but Emiliano is so Proud to being a Saenz I hope that when if he marries Pal he remains a Saenz and not Orlandos last name.
Carlota and Romina living in the same house is MUST SEE TV for sure.

Julia thanks for your recap. Great title and an interesting turn of events.

Well at least Camilla and Rafael may not have to deal with Diana as she'll have to face the music with Orlando. The unholy alliance is indeed that. I wonder what that means for Romina's ultimate fate?

Aron is really creeping me out now. Romina is a young Carlota in training. It's hard to ever imagine Carlota was sweet and endearing as Romina was with Paloma when they were young. I"m glad Dr. B realizes the lady does protest to much conerning Carlota. Rufi and Dr.B keep up the investigating. I don't know how that sleazy lawyer thinks he can cover up the inheritance but once it revealed i hope he's disbarred.

As for the third axis of evil in Real de Montes, the first two Carlota and Romina. Diana i can't wait until Orlando confronts you and once Rafael knows everything he can get that divorce.

How will Carlota treat Romina when she finds out that she is pregnant? Will she attempt to turn her into another Macarena? The plot thickens!

Thank you RSK for the correct song title!! I've downloaded it and need never ask again.

It occurs to me that Vicki Ruffo took the role in ENDA because she didn't have time or didn't want to finish the series. She lives in Pachuca (the city often referred to in ENDA where Paloma talks about going to university), and her husband is the mayor there. Since she has 5 kids and is the mayor's wife, she may have wanted a short role. This interview with her may shed some light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF9fN3k6KGQ

Carlota is only using Romina to keep Paloma from Emiliano. What i would love to see is Paloma get fed up with both of them and move in with Camila now that would be a good twist to the story.

I can't imagine Emiliano would change his name. While he likes and respects Orlando and will probably eventually embrace having a second father figure, Rafael is absolutely his father in every way except biologically and I think Emo would want to keep the name connection. Especially since he's an adult now and it would be silly to change names at this point.

I wonder how long it will take for the news of Emo and Orly's real relationship to get around. I agree Romina is going to go ape.

Julia...thanks so much for doing this. What a good sport you are. Two ENDA's in one week puts you up for the Nobel Prize.

Julie, thank you for your enjoyable and snarky recaps. You are a trooper for a good cause...you are helping spreading Spanish comprehension to telenovela fans far and wide. At least that's what I tell my husband: that I am watching novelas to learn Spanish. However, though there is no Yanez or Colunga to oogle in this novela, we did have our Inaki for a short time to appreciate.

Anyway, Licenciado Rosas will obviously do anything for money and an all expense paid vacation. His conscious bothers him a little but, basically, he is just afraid of being caught. Death by Cruelota is too good for him so he deserves to spend a long long time in the pen with an very friendly cellmate.

Happy that Pal, Emo, Rufi and Dr. B are being proactive and not letting Carlota run the show as she intends to.

And looking forward to seeing the Orlando/Dianita (Gudelia) confrontation which should be very amusing and how the unholy alliance plans to separate Pal and Emo besides having Romina sticking to Pal like glue.

Julia – thank you for being a trooper and writing up this great episode! I liked the ice cream bit - funny!

Orlando made the assumption that the photo was of Emiliano’s mother (and of course we know it was) but how many people keep portraits of themselves in the living room. I mean! Well, Diana is the type, but most of us wouldn’t. If I were Orlando, I would’ve guessed it was an aunt or something.

I had the impression that Rojas was going to hide the original docs, rather than destroy them, but I did rewind or anything to be sure. I’m thinking if he keeps them and hides them, they’ll turn up later.

Sorry, Julia, guess I spelled Julie instead by mistake. Also, I meant helping spread not helping spreading. Obviously, time to go to bed for me.

Julia, you are such a dear to handle the recap... and you do such a wonderful job. I wish I could do more to help because I really value this site and all who contribute to it. But my Spanish is at the elementary level. I'm working to improve it but it is slow going. Still, I love the novelas.

Romena moving in with Paloma will deliver at least several more months of strife. The writers are something else to keep coming up with these twists and turns. surely it can't be TOO much longer before Paloma comes of age and can get the h--- out of there. I'm hanging in in hopes Carlota will start to get back some of what she dishes out....and soon.

Great title and your recap hit every high and low light perfectly Julia.

Anon, I was amazed (and disappointed) that Victoria Ruffo's name as well as all of her pictures were pulled. At least they kept one shot of Inaki but come on, Macarena was central to the story line.

Amazed (and saddened) that Rominia aligned with Carlota. Rominia was one of the only ones clever enough to realize Carlota was behind Inaki's death. Disregarding that to deal with the devil could have catastrophic effects.

Diana in MA

Brenda – It’s great you put in a comment. Keep ‘em coming!

You know, I’m wondering when they’re going to let us know just when Paloma comes of age. I don’t think we’ve had a hint, have we? It always seems like it’s just a few months away, but it doesn’t come any closer. Anybody remember if an exact time was given?

Julia, thanks a million for coming through with a second recap in one week. What a labor of love!

Sorry for an off topic comment, but there's a television critic in my neck of the woods (San Francisco Bay Area) who refers to TiNOing programs. This is TiVOing something and then not getting around to watching it. I had been TiNOing Sortilegio. But my interest perked up finding out that, like most Carla Estrada novelas, it would be 95 or 96 episodes. To me that's the ideal length. I caught up on some of the episodes over the weekend.

The big problem with ENDA for me is the length. All the acting and plotting are excellent, but we'll apparently have to watch Paloma's dreams be dashed time and time again. Long TNs are masterpieces of delayed gratification. We already know Carlota's figured out a way to foil Rodolfo. Her threats won't work, but getting Rojas out of town may. And once the fake will delaying Pal's inheritence until she's 21 shows up, even finding out there's money won't necessarily give Pal any.

It's also way too soon for sappy Paloma to figure out how rotten Romina is. Once she shows up preggers, Paloma will doubtless step aside with many private sobs, giving Em on a silver platter to the blonde brat. I don't think even seeing her with German will put the lightbulb on over her head.

My only hope for resolution is the reveal about Diana being Gudelia, but she may even manage to sidestep that one. Friday's showing of Orlando seeing the photos may just be a red herring.

I had also been TiNOing (hee) Sortilegio, but once I started watching it quickly became must-see TV for me. It's so good! The protagonist is actually smart! Secrets come out quickly!

Anyway, back to this show. Shouldn't Paloma's birthday be ANY DAY NOW? It seems like she was pretty close to turning 18 back when she was planning to marry Iñaki. They talked about just waiting until she was 18 to marry if Carlota wouldn't give permission, and said it wouldn't be very long to wait. And that was months ago.

The writers have been doing a pretty good job so far of keeping the twists coming rather than just dragging the same thing out forever, though, so I'm hopeful that no one thing like Romina's pregnancy (still not confirmed, but we assume), or Paloma not turning 18, will bog things down for months.

I've never seen an novela when the lead was killed off so early in the drama. As for the opening credits. if she has been taken out completely then that just wrong. especially since they are still showing Inaki. Perhaps Victoria Ruffo had some disagreement with the director and producers of this show. Maybe it got so ugly that they did that but it still makes no sense. Wasn't Paloma's birthday first when they were children? Paloma may not turn 18 until the end of this novela because we still don't know how many months have passed or even when she going to graduate school.

When Edmundo (Rufi's beau) went back to the States, Paloma's birthday was 2 months away and Rufi had said she would have an answer in 2 months after Pal's birthday. With that in mind, how long has it been since he left? :)

And, thanks for the recap Julia! Thanks for pulling double duty this past week. :)
