Sortilegio #7, Wednesday October 14: 2 Dozen long stemmed roses … Is it getting warm here?

Or, is it just me?

Alejandro Y María José are soooo good together ... Let me see if I can recap.

We start with Bruto threatening MJ with Jail again, and she better not take him
for a fool. Bruto shoves before he walks out. MJ, is holding her faces cries,
asking God to help her.

Next day, we are not at some kind of Art festival where Fernando finds Victoria
talking with some old guy about art. The old guy says that the way the economy is
at the moment, that Art is a good investment right now.

MJ tells Paula that Bruto gave her the bruise on her face.

Victoria and Fernando are back at home having coffee, talking about how Alejandro is
sure that he never married MJ and how he is going to investigate.
Fernando tells her that her father is poor. Maria says that would explain it, but
she doesn't think MJ is a bad person... Fernando tries to calm her saying that
maybe Alejandro doesn't remember. Victoria and Fernando hold hands.

Paula thinks MJ should have Alejandro’s baby. That would solve everything.
MJ recognizes that she is attracted to the guapo, sexy, Alejandro, but feels
guilty for deceiving him.

The doctor tells Alejandro he is fine. They could do neuro tests for his memory.
Ale says no and leaves.

Alejandro then calls Fernando who is still chatting with Victoria, and has him
meet him at the office where they talk about the deception. Alejandro decides he
wants to talk to MJ’s Papa so he cancels all his stuff and makes plans for Cancun…
NOT. At least I don’t think MJ is from Cancun.

Roberto and Paula have a chat that I did not pay too much attention to. He doesn't work and I think he wants to play with Paula?

Victoria, again asks Bruno about work and of course he tells her he is still on
vacation, Well, why isn't he in Disneyland already?

Bruto goes to MJ's door and he finds that MJ must have read the comments on CARAY and has locked her door.

MJ flees, through the balcony where she runs into Alejandro.

I think she probably was relieved, but now MJ is worried because no one has told
papa that Alejandro is alive.

MJ tries to have Paula call Papa, but, Alejandro hears part of this conversation
and asks for Papa’s number and he calls and tells Papa he is alive and they are
coming to visit.

Alejandro has Paula come along for the ride.

MJ and Paula pack and Paula is arguing the same argument, MJ is as stubborn as a
mule.

Roberto tells Bruto that MJ has gone to Cancun with Alejandro.

Roberto and Rachel have a conversation that I missed.

In the car, Alejandro tells MJ they will be staying at a hotel so as not to bother
her father, and after all, they are married.

Alejandro asks Paula if she has a boyfriend and would she be interested in Bruno.
Paula does not like Bruno.

They come to Papa's house where MJ islooking everywhere for Papa.

Alejandro comes across the picture of himself and MJ on the mantel and he kind of looks shocked.

Alejandro asks MJ where it was taken and she doesn’t remember. Are there any others?
MJ says no.

MJ finds Papa and tell him that Alejandro has no memory, so Papa gladly introduces
himself. I think he is of like mind as Paula.

Meanwhile Bruto is brewing about Cancun with Erick.

Then Victoria comes in and Bruno lets out all his frustrations on his Mama. Life
is not fair and it is Victoria’s fault that her husband died leaving them with
nothing. Or something like that.

Victoria runs off and cries.
Children “DON”T MAKE YOUR MAMA’S CRY!”

Back at Papa’s house Alejandro excuses himself and tells MJ he will be back later
and for her to have a nice visit.

Alejandro, or Sherlock is asking everyone on the street if they knew Alejandro.
Finally, he comes finds someone who knew where he lived who describe Ale as young,
with black hair.
Alejandro calls the number on the for rent sign and meets with the owner who did
not actually know Alejandro, but describes him as young with black hair.
Alejandro would like to see the contract, but no, it is private.

Papa, MJ and Paula are having the same discussion. Papa says if it was just him
he would go to jail, but that his daughters are young and can’t go to jail.

Alejandro returns to Papa’s to get MJ. Papa asks him in but Ale declines saying
they are going to retire, but wants to extend an invitation to Papa to have
breakfast with them at the hotel. Papa is really excited about that.

MJ tells Ale she would rather sleep at Papa’s but that didn’t happen because now
they are in the hotel room.

MJ says that people like him are refined and elegant and her Papa is …. Alejandro
finishes her sentence “a good man.”

There are at least 2 dozen red long stemmed roses on the table. Ale ask MJ if
she likes them.

Ale asks MJ if he has told her how beautiful she looks today. He caresses her face
and kisses her cheek.

Alejandro backs off and tells her to relax. They have two rooms. MJ, is happy
about that, and her smile comes back.

Knock on the Hotel door, it is dinner for two.

Paula is telling papa to convince MJ to go for it.

MJ and Alejandro are having cake for dessert as they talk. Alejandro feeds MJ a
cake. They sure look like they are having a nice time. They have another sip
of wine, and then comes the kisses, oh my, they kiss good together.

They lie down, kissing and Alejandro is unbuttoning her top. Ale wants her to let him love or sleep with her.

MJ protests as she is returning his kisses……

Our Galan. Seductive, sexy, smart, naughty, sensible, shrewd… what else?

That is it for tonight.

I have had a really hectic week so far and I am traveling Thursday thru Sunday. I
won't be able to check back in until Monday.

Have a great week!

I don't know why the spacing doesn't come out.

Thanks for the recap Serendipity.
Bruno is no doubt busted. Alejandro turns the tables and this time impersonates Bruno while asking questions about 'Alejandro'. The descriptions fit Bruno to a t. Question now is will Alejandro play along or will he confront Bruno?

Ibarramedia

I am reposting this. I just posted it 5 minutes earleir in Tuesday's Recap and comments section.

I just saw the first episode of Corazon Salvaje. If you guys want to follow the series as it unfolds in Mexico, go here:

Can anyone explain Bruno confused thinking to me. As child he didn't like Antonio and didn't want his mother to marry him. Pick on and bullied his supposed step brother who is really his half brother. Mistreats the people who work for them. Also abusive and ill mannered and doesn't show the least respect for his own mother. He wanted Antonio to leave the company and vast fortune to him after displaying how irresponsible he is and evrything. Unbelieveable and Victoria still makes excuses for this jerk off. Nice touch Alex asking Paula if she had an boyfriend when he asked her about Fernando she said oh he's handsome. then Alex bust her bubble about him not being rich. How about Bruno. Our boy Alex is sharp. He's putting together all of the facts and i believe he coming up with Bruno. Bravo.

Dipity...thanks for the crisp straightforward recap. I wasn't going to watch this but you guys reeled me in (okay..the hot love scenes reeled me in but I wouldn't have known about them if you all hadn't recapped!)

Wishing you traveling mercies and looking forward to more recaps in the future.

Thanks for the recap Dipity. My DVR cut off right at the cake eating scene. Argh...... I missed a hot love scene it sounds like.

I don't care how old or big my son was, if he got in my face like that I would have popped him one. Bruno is such an asshat! Banging on MJ's door, yelling at his mom.

I really can't stand Paula. Everytime she opens her big mouth I tune her out. It's all about her. He can't send them to jail because they haven't done anything. It's not her fault her dad is a thief.

What does Roberto do? Nothing, it looks like. When Raquel was on the phone all I could think was, "someone took first prize at the State fair." Oh, wait that was a dress! My bad.

Ditto about Paula. Plus her voice is terribly annoying. Too bad but I think she's going to be a constant. It would be nice if Alej just left her in the pueblo.

Ditto what JudyB said about your recap being crisp and straightforward, Dipity. Thanks for your hard work, especially with how busy you've been. Have a good trip and come back to us safely.

And now, on with the show. (it's NOT just you, it is getting hot in heeeeeeeere)

Darn, MJ covered up her bruise with makeup. I so wanted Alex to see it and descend on Bruno like a wraith. Maybe next time. (maybe he'll slog her makeup off with all that heavy foreplay and then see it... a girl can hope)

Nando is SO into Vicky now, he practically makes googly eyes even when she's only mentioned. Heheh. And Ezekiel doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Hm. There is some trouble coming down that road, though. It may be the first time in history that Alex and Bruno are on the same side.

If Roberto doesn't put the moves on Paula soon, I will be one shocked little bunny.

Bruto goes to MJ's door and he finds that MJ must have read the comments on CARAY and has locked her door. LMAO!

I cracked up at the look on Paula's face when Alex suggested she date Bruno (like she had a mouthful of lemons). Papi's acting job for the not-dead Alex had me rolling, too. Can y'all imagine looking at a photoshopped picture of yourself all hugged up with someone you didn't remember? Alex looked pretty skeeved out, but managed to not yell his frustration. It is a given that I would have been yelling to let some steam off, folks.

Smooth move, Bruno. Stick the knife into the only person who really cares about your lousy @ss and twist it, why doncha. Oh, pobrecito with his top of the line automobile, standing in a mansion with the best food, designer clothes, and high end whiskey, but he "has nothing." Loser.

Boy, when the liquor comes out, MJ and Alex commence to giggling like there is no tomorrow. LOL! MJ says that people like him are refined and elegant and her Papa is... Alejandro
finishes her sentence "a good man."
Yep, that's how you get the girl, Al. That, and roses, and holding her hand, being protective and understanding but firm, wearing those suits as well as you do, and your s-l-o-w hand techniques. Mm. Have mercy. (if Bruno comes busting through the hotel room door, I believe I will simply croak)

This is just my opinion, of course, but I honestly don't understand just what people want JB to DO with her teeth. I mean, they're not like an ugly dress she can take off, or bad makeup that she can remove, or terrible hair color she can wash out. They are a permanent fixture in your mouth. Unless you have lots of money, time, and a high threshold of pain to have them re-done. And even if she were to somehow reduce their size, folks would probably then say "her mouth is way too big for those tiny teeth" or something to that effect. I am not her biggest fan by any means; this is only the third time I've seen her since 2002. I'm just saying--I don't know what people expect the woman to realistically do about something she can't help. Just my two cents...

Alex's detective work seems to gain more ground every episode. I wonder what he's going to discover tonight...? At this rate, the gig will be up soon rather than a gazillion months from now.

Oh, and ditto, Connie. My son is a 6'2" athlete, but he would rather cut off a limb than have me clothesline him for disrespecting me. And I noticed the State Fair ribbon on Raquel's dress too. The dress was really cute on her. The ribbon had to go.

I'm off to get coffee. Good morning, all. :)

Thanks for the recap PB. Have a nice trip and I hope you are able to get some rest also. Yes it is getting very warm in here. At this point I continue at marvel at MJ's willpower. How much longer can she resist Alex?

I also enjoyed your comment about MJ following our suggestion and locking her door. Excellent.

Bruno being a jerk to his mother just seals his fate (death).

Alex noticed MJ's bruise & asked about it. She said she did it in the bathroom on the door.

Maybe it is a TN rule that the bad guys aren't supposed to respect their moms. They don't really respect anyone else so why not give mom a hard time. If Bruno had done that to his dad his dad would have knocked him out. Yelling (which my son would never do)I can sort of understand, but getting in someone's face like that is just a no,no.

Yeah, don't you just feel so sorry for Bruno. He gets to run around in his fancy clothes and wear his fancy silk scarves and then has the nerve to complain!

I was flipping through the channels last night and there he was, William Levy, on a new show. I had no idea this show had started already. So, thank you for the recaps. My last novella was Cuidado and my Spanish is back to nothing, so I will give this show a try. It is good to see familiar names like JudyB and new people to me also. By the way, I think William's pink shirt he had on last night was the same one he constantly wore on Cuidado!

DPD, Great recap. I love your pacing, curt, clever, and complete. Good job. My favorite meaningful line of the night delivered with an unapologetic, unblinking, disdainful sense of pride by Roberto while speaking with Pau:

"Yo no trabajo. (I don't work.)"

I'm liking him more and more, even his little mouche.

Carlos

I know most of us are thinking, how can MJ and Paula be so scared about Bruno accusing them and sending them to jail, when they haven't done anything. I think we're looking at it from our US point of view. Someone poined out on the MEPS finale recap that in the Mexican legal system, you are guilty until proven innocent (the opposite of the US). Someone poor, with no resources, fighting against someone rich with tons of resources wouldn't have much of a chance of winning. And they don't know if his family and friends would turn against him and testify to how much of a jerk he is. They can rightly assume that everyone would line up behind him to defend him. And who do they have? No one and nada. I totally understand their fear.

-Vivi in DC

About the art festival- I watched some episodes on YouTube (by the way this is capitulo 12) and the bumper ads before and after the show comes back from breaks features modern art (sculptures and paintings) from different Mexican artists listing the name of the artist and the name of the piece. I thinking much of the art in the house is from these artists. So every novela seems to have a local industry/cause that it promotes. This one seems to promote supporting local modern artists. I think the guy Viki and Fernando was speaking to is a real artist.

-Vivi in DC

That makes sense Vivi. I had forgotten about that.

It's not only in Mexico that the poor have a difficult time with the legal system. There may be more protections in the USA. However, some trials of the wealthy come to ming. For example, was OJ guilty? Anywhere money can buy one good lawyers.

Lynne

For sure Lynne. There are more cases, that are even more obvious than OJ (which has all kinds of other issues mixed in), in our US legal history that show the power that wealth, social standing, fame and influence can have over the law. But at least here it's the burden of the prosecution to prove without a doubt that you're guilty. In Mexico, it seems that it's in the hands of the defense to prove you're innocent. That makes a huge difference.

-Vivi in DC

That is precisely correct Vivi. I was the one that said that in Mexico you are guilty until proven innocent. I found that out in my research through my discussion with Jarocha.

They are also in the midst of an 8 year transition to a US style adversarial system where cases are argued orally before the judge or jury if it is a jury trial.

Stephe and Connie good to know your sons don't disrespect you. You must be physically strong to avoid him manhandle you if it were ever the case...

Ibarramedia

Yes Ibarramedia, so true. And mine is a trained killer too! Plus he's 6'2" and all muscle. Most kids have no respect for "elders" any more. You try to discipline them and they call social services.

This was a really fun recap, PB. I laughed out loud several times (especially about the locked door).

I keep wanting Victoria to tell Bruno that the "bum" Antonio who he keeps dissing was Bruno's real father. That might shut him up a bit.

Alejandro picked up on so many little things, from Paula accidentally saying that she really didn't like Bruno (showing maybe they didn't just meet two days ago), to MJ's hesitation about where the picture was taken, to the various clues about the young guy with black hair. He's a very smart hero, sort of like Ricardo in Pasion (also produced by Carla Estrada). He just has to convince MJ to trust him, and he seems to be getting close.

Thanks, SerenPB. Good one. And I appreciate that you fitted it into such a busy time. Hope your trip is easy.

Paula's voice to me is like a chattering chipmunk; it's just so high-pitched chirp-y that I tune out after a couple sentences. She's tiring to watch so far. Plus, she only says the same thing anyway; she's always pressing her sister. Maybe an affair with Roberto might be just what she needs.

Wondering what Alex will do with his growing knowledge that it's Bruno behind the wedding mystery?

PB, about the spacing, it looks generally fine anyway, but I also had a problem with that in some of my recaps. I think when I just cut and pasted from Word, I had the problem. But when I selected a font on the screen where you post before pasting, it worked better.

Hombre- If this is what the galan was like in Pasion, then I need to rent the dvd to that novela asap! I know you all have said many good things about it numerous times.
I am really liking this galan because so far he's shown himself to be smart and shrewed (unlike many galans), respectful and kind (like all galans), handsome (like all galans), but with a bit of the bad boy/seducer (not like all galans). The combination, along with the fact that Alex knows how to use his hands, eyes, and lips to maximum effect, make him very appealing. Not sure if the men here have been as riled up as the women here by these kissing scenes. I appologize in advance for all the swooning and oggling we are/will be doing. :)

-Vivi in DC

Great recap and on a tight schedule, thanks so much.

The thing that bothers me the most about JB is that she is emaciated. She could do ads for the World Hunger Program. She cannot do anything about her teeth but she can do something about her weight. It is not attractive.

Why in the world does Paula carrying her purse with her at all times? Just curious, did I miss something, is she carrying something important?

WL is wonder in this role, I am really surprised.

And last but not least, I love Il Divo singing thoughout the episode.

rsk

On sons... You have start early, at 3 or 4. This is a fictious situation, but Vicky lost control 20 years ago, it's too late now for her to change him.

On the legal system...no one in either Mexico or the US wants to get tangled up in the legal system. Innocent corporations, insurance companies and wealthy individual settle rather than taking their chances on court. Quieting Paula and MJ with a threat of the police is a rather cleaver ploy on the part of Bruno.

DOS great recap, yes it is getting hot in here !

Sandy in TN

You know, I don't usually like him. I've only seen him in Cuidado and didn't like him. But I like him in this. There's something about his smile.

I tried to find Pasion on Netflix but couldn't find it. I think Walmart has it and I looked at Best Buy but they were out.

Connie, Amazon has it.

rsk

Yes. And Ebay too.

Hey Connie,

Pasion is great but I wouldn't view it for WL. It's not a very strong performance but there a lot of great male actors and characters (FC's Rick is one of the best galans I've seen, his sidekick Mario is a wonderful bad boy, the actor playing Roberto -Marcelo Cordova- plays a heroic servant and Sebatian Rulli is in there too) and his (Vasco) character was basically a jerk until the end of the novela. You've got some many good actors and handsome men in Pasion it was easy to overlook WL.

And I hope you've seen Alborada too! Another Carla Estrada production.

Vivi - I'm tracking with you on the swooning ;)

I like Bracamontes. She's pretty and easy on the eyes. I like her with and without the bangs and looked up images of her to support my claim.

I agree that she need more meat. Perhaps trip to the gym to build her physique is what she needs. Maybe she is influenced by American actresses or aspires to cross over to Hollywood. One thing I like about Mexican actresses is that they have curves and a re a little beefy. Babs looks great, though I suspect the listed weight of 125 pounds. She looks more than that. Silvia Navarro has great legs. I could go on and on with our beloved females... :D

Ibarramedia

Thank you for the wonderful recap! I hope your travel goes well Serendipity.

The chemistry between William and Jackie is great (I'm with you Vivi, Karen and others). Many handsome men here including Marcelo and Gabriel Soto.

Violet and Stephe, great to see your posts and glad you're watching.

Diana in MA

Ibarramedia- So glad to know that the men are getting something titilating out of these novelas too. :)
JB looks just like my Ecuadorian college roomate Susy. Same build, will long curly hair. Yes, all the guys fell for her, but she was so sweet she didn't notice and only had eyes for her high school boyfriend Joey (cute Cuban). Susy ate junk food all the time and had JB's figure ala Tontas. Junior year she decided to be heathier in her eating habits and to do something she had never done before- exercise. She then quickly got as skinny as JB appears in this novela. She evntually decided to ditch exercising all together in order to get back some of the meat on her bones. 13 years later, she still has her beautiful, slim JB figure. I would hate her if I didn't love her so much. :) I have other friends whose natural build, combined with execise make them look skeletal. They've had to use proteing shakes and supplements to stay a healthy weight. It looks to me like JB has a naturally slim build.

-Vivi in DC

Dipity (hope you don't mind), thank you for your very interesting recap. This novela has definitely made me a WL fan. I love the way this story line is unfolding at such an interesting pace, but like all the other novelas I've seen, I doubt that it will last throughout the 95 episodes.

Personally I think that snarking the actors physical characteristics is hitting below the belt. I first saw JB when she appeared on the Christina show and her toothy/gummy smile caught my attention because her teeth looked like ill fitting dentures. Since her teeth has been mentioned so many times on this blog, I find myself feeling embarrased for her whenever she shows her teeth. I'll bet dollars to donuts that she is also self conscious about them.

"But she can do something about her weight". I have no idea if she has an eating disorder or not, but I do know that eating disorders are a sign of something deeper going on inside. I also know that it's not as simple as making up your mind that starting with your next meal you're going to eat more.

That's my 2 cents worth.

I say let's give the girl a break and concentrate on her acting now that her teeth and gummy smile has been snarked ad nauseum.

I have seen Alborado. One of my favorites for sure. I'm watching Pasion for FC of course.

MJ is tall so she could carry extra muscle/weight on her frame and not be "fat." I looked like her when I was anorexic. No thanks. Don't want to go there again.

If the end results of her exercise was to be skinny, I hope it was not skinny fat. She was probably overdoing the cardio. She would need to eat more protein and it does not always have to be steak. Tuna, lots of it will do the trick and she must lift heavy. That's relative of course to what she can do.

I like the stryline and that is my main requirement to watch, having beautiful women is icing on the cake for me.

Ibarramedia

I have never noticed or was concern about Jackie's teeth or mouth until i found this blog. When i first saw Jackie in Heridas de Amor i didn't even realize it. It wasn't until Tontas and this blog that i first started getting distracted by it.
Now i'm just going to ignore it because as long as you can act we should not be bothered by it. Besides i quite enjoy the actress Maria Sorte and her mouth is wide too. She is just an good actress it doesn't bother me. What does concern me about Jackie is her thinness. I know some people who are genetically thin. Jackie looks anorexic or she has an eating disorder. That's one thing I'm concern with regarding her physical appearance. The actress she replaced to play this part Anahi, Maite former RBD bandmate has the same body structure.

I hope we get more mysteries to solve. Like the damn box!

Didn't Mr. Albeniz leave money to Bruno & Raquel? Why should ALEJANDRO'S DADDY* leave the bulk of his money to Mr. Albeniz's children?

*Bruno & Raquel don't know that Alejandro's daddy is their daddy too.

You're right. It makes no sense for Bruno to expect anything since he doesn't know it was his real papa. Especially since it doesn't seem like he ever treated the man with repect or love when he was alive. It did make sense (sort of) that Viki was upset with him for changing the will as she and he knew that Bruno was truly the eldest "real" son. Although I have to say that I am bugged by the fact that Raquel never seems to have been considered to head up the company or to have a role there. Not that she would have wanted it. But she and Bruno are the same age and it doesn't seem like she was flunking out of school like Bruno was when he was "demoted" in the will. Why was there never any thought of her joining the family biz like Fernanda in MEPS?

-Vivi in DC

It does not matter if they know or not. Or if he is really their father or not. 3 things are true here:

1) Don Antonio Albeniz adopted the twins. Either way, he is their father. Biologically or not.

2) He left Raquel and Bruno a house. Alejandro gives them a monthly allowance to maintain their lifestyle as has been accustomed to them. This on top of Bruno's high salary as a high ranking member of the family Business.

3) Antonio decided based on the twins behavior that Alejandro was best qualified to run the business and will inherit it, as well as be head of the family. Shades of the Godfather. Michel Corleone is younger than Fredo, but Fredo is incompetent.

Ibarramedia

Did Vicky inherit or is she living off the kindness of Alejandro? Well, let's see, she would have inherited from her first husband I believe and you would think something from her second husband too. I'm just thinking out loud here.

Vivi, It was stated in the first episode that Raquel has no interest in the business only shopping. She is also the younger twin, but the that has nothing to do with all this. Just had to bring it up.

Ibarramedia

I didn't realize (or forgot) that he adopted the twins.

The way I understand it is that an adopted person can inherit from their biological parent(s) and also their adopted parent(s). Pretty cool if you ask me. I wonder if my biological parents were billionaires?! Hmm...... I guess I'd know by now, huh? 8(:-)

Victoria inherited form her first husband, has a writing career that pays good. She also inherited from her second husband but that is not really specified as they were talking about the kids inheritance. There is no way she is going to run the household without money. Though Alejandro is the actual head of the family,Victoria still wields some considerable influence and power. I think she also inherited the mansion they live on while Alejandro has the company and all it's other holdings. Logic and common sense are not always how things are. But this is the arrangement as I see it.

Ibarramedia

Totally right Ibarramedia. I think the question is why, with all the good reasons why he was not left the company/head of family, AND the fact that he does not know he is the bilogical child, that he seems to feel so entitled? Once that secret is out, he is bound to become even more pathological in his sense of entitlement and feeling like his birthright was stolen.

Connie, since you secialize in probate law and estate law rather than criminal law, I think that the person making the will can dictate how things will be left. whether it is mean, unfair or whatever has no bearing in this. Just the wishes of the deceased. In case there was a law that all children must inherit something, they accounted for that by willing the properties to Raquel and Bruno.
Racquel's house is inside the compound behind the main house. Bruno's is in Cancun.

Ibarramedia

He feels entitled for the simple reason that he is older. 99.9% of the world has some kind of recognition for the eldest child.

In this case, it had to go beyond that because they are dealing with a huge compnay, possibly a conglomerate. But I don't know that. Peoples livelihood and the wealth of the family is tied in. A responsibility based on ability and trust. Recall the comment to Victoria that if he gave the company to Bruno, it would be bankrupt in a few years time. And all would be lost.

Ibarramedia

Oh totally. I've seen it many times. They'll leave it to 2 children but not to 1. Or whatever the Testator/Testatrix wants. We've never had a client that left everything to their dog or anything like that, that I'm aware of! People will often (especially if they are well-off in their own right) "disclaim" their inheritance for whatever reason. I've always said that it should go into a fund with my name on it! Ha, Ha :P

Alex noticed MJ's bruise & asked about it. She said she did it in the bathroom on the door. Thanks, Variopinta. I missed that.

Hi, Violet and Diana!

I live in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and I will tell you that the laws in my county/city suck. You are innocent until proven guilty, but unless you have a lot of money for a lawyer right away, you will sit in jail for months and months before you even have the chance to be presented with your charges by a judge for the first time, or to even say if you did it or not. They could care less, so long as they get paid. :(

Ibarramedia: Yes, it is important to be mentally strong as well. And to start kids off early on how to be a decent person, not wait until pre-puberty or teenage years. And use resources available to you. As a single parent, I had to do that--once during his rebellious teen years, I had the police put the Fear of God into him. AND you must temper everything with a lot of love. My son and I love each other so very much that it makes me tear up sometimes. (yes, those are violins you hear playing LOL)

And then there are those children who are just BORN to evil. I don't know if Vicky could have done anything to head Bruno off of this path, really, though she could have tried.

Oh yes, if you're going to watch Pasion, by all means do it for Colunga and his sidekick, and for Rulli. Levy just kind of flavors the landscape there, a frustrating boy-toy to one of the town bi-yatches. It was during his very last scene, when he reconciled his marriage and made love to his wife when we were like, Whoa, that was HOT, who the hell is that guy again??

Ibarramedia, I love it when you guys dish about female characters the same as we women dish about the men. So keep swooning away! :)

Leona Helmsley left a substantial amount to her dog. I cannot say for sure if she left everything to the dog, but the dog got a lot. To those wondering how the dog would spend the money, it really is for the upkeep, maintenance and luxury services for the dog.

Steph, the public defender could argue for his client's right to a speedy trial. And if he loses the case, he can ask for some time off due to 'time served'. That of course is also relative to the sentence. Hardly a drop in the bucket if he will serve 75 years in prison.

Stephe, we just try to equalize thing here with the swooning. ;) :)
Of course I alo love the intelligent discussion we have here.

Thanks Ibarramedia, I couldn't think of her name.

I've done that before Stephe! Cops have a way of doing that. They kind of snicker but not in front of the kid. They probably have done it on more than one occasion. I agree that some kids are just born with not all the lights lit on their tree. No matter what you do or how you guide them they go down the "wrong" path. Unfortunately the parent always gets blamed for it.

Great comments on the Lombardo/Albeniz inheritances and/or non-inheritances. I think we are in agreement on one thing: every one of them is in money and is Set For Life. No one should be complaining about jack.

That's the thing, Ibarramedia--the public defenders here take weeks and months to even SEE the client. (Some of it probably has to do with not enough defenders to go around, high work loads... but not all of it.)

But you know what, they do complain. We had a client whose dad died and left the 3 kids each a high 6-figure amount. The client would call and bitch and complain and whine about having to pay accountants and attorneys and filing fees. One day our paralegal had had enough and said very sweetly that when her dad died he only left her $2000 and that wouldn't even cover the burial. We never heard another peep out of him.

Hi to Stephe and Diana, I've missed you! I have a lot of recaps to get through before I catch up and know what's going on with this show. The woman who plays the stepmother of William Levy's character looks so familiar. Was she in another novella? It's snowing out!

Dona Juana in Alborada.

LOL! I like the way your paralegal thinks, Connie.

And she does it so nicely too. She's good like that.

Thanks for the recap Dipity. I think Bruno would be much better off if he didn't keep spending money on schemes trying to get more of the family money. :)
You would think he would be happy with what he gets. I believe Roberto and Raquel are happy living the way they do and spending whatever money comes their way.
The other day we were worried that Vicki would be telling Bruno what Al is thinking, doesn't look that way. He just doesn't give her the time of day. She'll probably defend him and try to protect him, but he sure doesn't care what she has to say.

We should also remember that Victoria said that her first husband Samuel had spoiled the kids. I don't remember if they as wealthy with Samuel as they are now after Victoria married Antonio. I believe Victoria should have been more strict though.

I guess what I'm asking is Bruno & Raquel grew up with Mr. Albeniz as their daddy for 6 years. Even though Mr. Lombardo adopted them, they thought of Mr. Albeniz as their dad. So why is Bruno feeling entitled to Alejandro's daddy's money?

And the sad thing is, when Bruno finds out that Mr. Lombardo is his daddy too that's going to push him over the edge because his bio-dad left him a house and a cup of change while giving everything else to Alex.

All this could have been prevented if Mr. Lombardo & Vicky had told the kids the truth.

Unless Mr. Lombardo isn't actually Bruno & Racquel's bio dad.

Bruno is greedy and power hungry. That's all there is to it. If I was Bruno's dad, I would disown him and throw him out of the house And I would not want to see him ever again.

I think it's more of the assertion that Vickie and Lombardo Sr. always made that he (Lombardo Sr.) loved Bruno and Raquel just as if they were his own children that is driving Bruno's demands. Even though they haven't told the truth, they obviously raised them as blood brothers and sister, but apparently verbal assurances alone that they were loved as the biological children by Lombardo Sr. were not enough for Bruno. I can sort of see where it would bother him -- it seemed in the very first episodes that Victoria made a huge effort not to show distinction between Alejandro and her kids, but did not try to smooth Bruno's rebellious attitude when he was jealous of his mother's attentions.

I agree with the anon. commenter above that the best solution to this would have been to tell the truth, because when it comes out now (and since it's a novela, it definitely will :), it will make the situation worse.

I am shocked at how quickly I got roped in to this telenovela. I was never a fan of William Levy but now I cannot get over how HOT he is and how great the chemistry is between JB and him. I would never have predicted that! I just hope we don't have to see a disproportionate amount of evil. I never even noticed JB's teeth issue and I really hope I don't get distracted by it now after reading all these blog comments. She is clearly very beautiful, just way too thin. I think it's mostly her body frame. People like that can just not take much food in at one time because they get bloated. I say, let's enjoy the beauty of these protagonists along with the great chemistry and forget about the flaws.

Thanks for the great recap, Dipity!

I actually only got to watching this yesterday. Silly me, thinking nothing major would happen! Our Protagonistas really do work well together, especially when it comes to the kissing and flirting :)

Thank you everyone! Got back okay and I am trying to get caught up!
