Gancho Wed 12-2 - The oldest trick in the book...how could he fall for it???? Ack!!
Connie gets a new one from her Mom about being with a man who doesn’t love her and that will gradually eat her insides out. I'm hoping to see that.
Moni and Paula rag on Estre for throwing herself at the luchador she barely knows. I think Estre looks hell of hot now.
Beto shows up stinking drunk. He wants some lovin’ They refuse to give it to him. He goes off in a huff.
Poor Xime is crying when Jero comes home. Ironically he complains to her about a woman who wanted him only for his money. Xime says huh, and you don’t even have any. He eventually feels better that he will get the right girl. He still neglects to make Xime feel better, instead telling her it’s her fault for all this. She bawls more.
Luisa shows up and Mona is happy to see her. So is Ivan. They are being watched though so they don’t get too close.
Jaqui talks to Mau about Connie and thinks that he needs to treat her better. He claims she provokes him and only thinks of herself. She reminds him all he’s provoking is more hate from her dangling this other woman in front of her. She says he needs to be patient and treat her differently to change her attitude so she backs down her guard a little.
Estre asks Katia how Aldo is. They spar cattily for a bit, Estre is with someone new, blah, blah, Estre insults Katia that she should buy a forest and get herself lost.
Katia and Ivan discuss the possibility that something is up between Beto and Her sister Con. Ivan promises to see what he can find out.
The kids leave the barrio and Katia yells out she’s leaving it to Ivan. Mona hears this and her interest is piqued.
Mau has the calming conversation with Coni, he begs her pardon for all he’s done to her, including loving another. He knows she must act this way because she’s been hurt. He says aside of all of the horrible things she’s done he’s willing to forgive, and expects her to do the same. He starts to leave, and she breaks out the water works. She’ll give him the divorce.
Lu and Kat show up at the house. Aldo comes to chat, and learns that Ivan will help them and Ester has forgotten him, she’s with the luchador. Aldo refuses to believe it.
Coni gives Mau the kids, she just wants to spend one night with him like when it was only the two of them. Mau says no way. That’s absurd. They fight about this, she renegs on giving him the divorce since he won’t give in. Ugh for crap’s sake!!!
Aldo soon starts asking questions about the luchador. Kat keeps insulting Estre as being a street girl and acting that she cares about Aldo. He throws Kat out.
More fighting between Coni and Mau. Coni lays on the guilt trip that he is only one night away from being with Mona because she could leave and go to Europe with her Ma.
The barrio girls chat about the letter Mona wrote. They talk about the love she has for him…
Coni keeps up the heat. Mau decides he can’t and walks out asking to think about it. Ah crap, here we go again. Why does he let her manipulate him like that? UGH!!!!!
Aldo calls Estre and wants to know about the luchador. She realizes Kat opened her mouth. She says she’s giving the luchador a chance, and they can’t be together so get over it. Aldo won’t take it, they can’t be just friends.
Mau lies in bed apparently struggling over the decision as he flashes back to Mona and then Coni’s proposition. He really does look like his brain is hurting. Mon apparently dreams about him too, this time that he has come back to her forever and he proclaims himself hers that he will come back but she doesn’t want him to leave. At the end she’s really hugging the Masked Fury.
Coni is sprawled out on the bed when we hear a knock. Mau thought it over and will sleep with her if tomorrow she’s gone. He says he won’t kiss her. What the hell then, why bother. Sheesh.
Nieves is with Cesar who is off to a meet with promoters who will set Mona’s next fight. Nieves wants him to get some tacos on the way for himself. She tries to wake up Beto with pots and pans and of course he is in a bad way.
A nurse is back at Rolu’s and Jero is lusting over her. Jero promises not ot rat Rolu out with Xime if he lends Jero money to resolve some debts. Rolu is not interested. Jero teases him and manages to evade him. Rolu kicks him out and turns to the nurse who is still shaking her ass in his face. SURPRISE!!! She turns around and it’s our Xime!!! Rolu is impacted.
We see a sulking Mau who says he will talk right away with his lawyers. She says go ahead, but don’t go after Mona until we are legally divorced. She smiles an evil smile, and he gives a look of alright, fine. And that’s it!

Three bright spots:
1) you're back! We missed you.
2) the previews with Xime waggling an extremely long thermometer at Rolu.
3) the fact that Xime bounced back immediately from Rolu's cruel betrayal, just as Carlos predicted. Rolu might as well give up. If she wants him, she's gonna get him.
Again, WELCOME BACK AMIGA!!!!
Mauricio's apology. Yes, Constanza has been beyond despicable, but his apology was correct and well-expressed when he acknowledged that he hurt her by ceasing to love her, falling for another and casting her aside. In the past, he's always dismissed her complaints by saying "whatever we had was over". And yes, that was true for him, but not for her.
And Jackie's speech was well-written also, pointing out that he would get nowhere by treating Connie with contempt and derision.
Now the fact that Mauricio fell for the "oldest trick in the book"....that's just pure idiocy on the character's part.
It's one thing to acknowledge your fault in a relationship; quite another to just be STOOOOOOPID. Sorry such a noble, enlightened gesture was followed by such a lamentable decision.
OK, I will admit that I didn't get to see last night's episode and it sounds like maybe it was the one to miss. However I definitely will go back and watch at least Xime's scenes.
Oh Mau...honestly, I didn't think the poor dope could get any dumber but I suppose there is too much telenovela left for him too wise up so quickly.
I like how the kids intend to sleuth out what is going on between Coni and Beto. They are good little actors and I'd like to see more of them.
Judy, I like your 'three bright spots', i.e. three little things. I have a feeling we will be using that idea for a long time to come.
Kris, it is great to have you back. We missed you and your hip recapping style.
Judy, I swear while I was watching I could almost hear you guys shouting warnings out to Mao while he mulled over Coni's offer. Is he not the dumbest galan ever? He makes Juan from FELS look like a Mensa candidate. Even I could smell what Coni was planning.
I may be getting a little ahead of things, but didn't Coni look great in the black and white outfit she had on in the coming attractions?
Ximena certainly did not disappoint, although when I saw her in the nurse getup I thought to myself,"How pitiful and desperate does this look as an effort to win over Rolu the Rat, but when she started brandishing the horse thermometer in her gloved hand my heart soared; now that's the Ximena I know and love, resilient, resourceful, and devilishly clever. I start laughing every time I think about it.
Also Nieves and Cesar were entertaining in their color (purple) coordinated outfits.
Beto delivering his "Tú no eres nadie" message to Estrella by flashing his tee shirt was great. He even got an amused and appreciative smile out of her. I think that might have even been improvised.
Judy, I had similar feelings about the speeches by Mao to Coni and Jacky to Mau. They were actually seriously grown-up. Let's just not have too much of that sort of thing. Your three bright spots are on target.
It's supposed to snow here tomorrow. So what? We're heading South Sunday.
Carlos
Did you all hear me yelling at Mauricio last night? I'm not sure this is my neighbors' favorite show...
So here's what Mau should have done: Agreed to Constanza's deal, but claimed to need some time to psych himself up. Gone and found a dealer and scored some of whatever they use to make people pass out. Brought Coni some wine or champagne to kick things off, hers spiked of course. In the morning, act like she got what she wanted.
Mauricio needs to hire me to scheme for him; he has absolutely no skills.
So what's Rolu's deal? He could leave if he wanted to, but he's still there, still wearing his wedding ring, and when Ximena started kissing him he seemed into it. Is he trying to torment her with tepid nastiness?
I think Sylvia's right, the main reason Mau agreed is that they have to fill out 100 more episodes. Mau has now done two almost unforgivable things: Helping Isabel fake her death, and now sleeping with Coni, while he's supposed to be faithful to Moni. I'm not too worried about Coni's claim that her pregnancy was from this coupling (although he really should have thought about birth control, hello!).
But the hard part, down the line, will be for Moni to forgive him for these two terrible mistakes. In each case, Mau was thinking that the end justifies the means. He lied about Isabel so Moni could reunite with her and have some quality time before Isa "died". He agreed to the one night stand with Coni to get the kids back, the divorce, and be able to resume his life with Moni.
But the problem is, the end often does NOT justify the means. And it looks as if Mau will have to pay for his shortsightedness.
On a brighter note, I thought Xime looked awesome in her nurse outfit!
Carlos, I'm in Baltimore, and it's 65 degrees and sunny. Hah! However, they do predict it'll dip down into the 20's by the weekend. Oh well.
I was also yelling at Mauricio. All of Mexico probably heard the lot of us! Why the heck didn't he take about three Tylenol PMs, although I like Julia's suggestion better. Poor fellow, he makes Alonslo in QE look smart, and that's some doin'!
We also might get some snow, ick. The kids here in southern Virginia usually have more hurricane days off school than snow days.
I liked your three bright spots, especially the long thermometer. That girl is something else!
Anyway, glad you feel like you got enough. I think Coni's crazy fighting trying to convince Mau went on forever and there was no need to write all that. I hate her (well that's a strong word, but...) and I almost hate him even more, because he should have known better, the dingbat! I've just lost a lot of respect for him and I"m kind of like, oh pure as snow Mona, just go find another principe, you are great and so totally could find someone with more balls., Heck someone with even one is better than Mau right now!!! :)
Julia, spot on...if I were a stupid dense telenovela hero I'd hire you in a heartbeat to sort out all my messy details!!!
I agree, Jaqui (this was kind of the first time I really met her) is actually pretty cool, she sticks up for her daughter, but hasn't lost sight of a sort of reality, which is refreshing in a telenovela. :)
I hope they don't kill us with too many more adult conversations. Sheesh, they have them, and then go and do stupid childish things anyway. Que the hell? Double UGH!
We've already had snow in Columbus (although it was a flurry that didn't stick) but since I love snow and actually like shoveling driveways, I don't mind a little. Ten inches with ice though is no fun.
Julia, were there any Borgias in your family tree? You have a nicely convoluted, devious mind. Guess we can be glad you're an engineer and not a master criminal.
However I don't want snow around
Christmas time because than my husband will refuse to drive to Charlotte. And I'll have to go by myself!
When I was a kid I wanted to be a spy when I grew up, but eventually I realized I didn't relish the idea of being chased and shot at. Or poisoned, or having my fingers cut off or my feet burned with a lighter until I gave up secrets.
Is Aldo still 16? Did either he or Luisa have a birthday during the time they were in the reformatory, or in the month or so since, or in the few months of show time before Coni stole them? Seems like he should be 17 any day now, which is a little closer to being legal. I still think he and Estrella will end up together eventually.
Judy, I completely forgot about the thermometer - now I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing tonight's episode. Payback is a beyotch.
Mau could not be any denser. Agree that he's made 2 irreversible bad decisions at critical junctures. However, forgiveness is central to this storyline so it will happen although these transgressions (including Mau's deception about Moni's mother as Hombre pointed out) will take longer than most.
Also, I thought it was standard procedure for the galan not to be with anyone else once he and the heroine got together or is it just the other way around? :(
Coni's stock continues to plummet but as been noted, no one had died. Yet.
Diana
The prospect of perhaps someday seeing Coni doing laundry in the communal concrete sink is delicious.
Julia, you're right. Why is Rolu sticking around now that he's out of the body cast?
That little black dress needs to thank Estrella for making it look so nice!
Kris, welcome back and thanks for the recap!
What we've NEVER seen is the heroine having relations with anyone else after she's been with the galan.
But, reprehensible and shallow though that is....it STILL hurt to be rejected and tossed aside for another.
And although I loathe the character of Constanza, I still think it was right for Mauricio to acknowledge her hurt and apologize for wounding her.
Even despicable people have feelings.
What was that great line from Shakespeare, "When pricked, do I not bleed?"
And apologies and making amends are always good for the person making them (in this case, Mauricio) even if the other person doesn't accept the apology.
And herein endeth yet another sermonette from Judy.
I do have to say that Mau sure knows how to dig himself into trouble. When he told Constanza there would be no kissing I was reminded of all those movies about prostitutes like Pretty Woman.
The only novela from Televisa that I can remember that had the lead sleep with another man after the male protagonist (and before) was Tres Mujeres but she believed him to be dead at the time. Well, there's Rubí but she was supposed to be a bad girl and all. TV Azteca is more open to have them with another man but they never cheat, it's always after they have broken up.
I agree about liking the scenes with Jaqui and Mau and the Mau apologizing to Coni.
Jarocha
I'm so looking forward to Ximena extracting her vengeance. I almost feel sorry for Rolu.
I'm also looking forward to Stephe's recap next Monday. I hope to be able to kick back Tuesday with a drink with a flower and umbrella in it and feast on her wit.
Carlos
I was REALLY upset after I saw this episode. It's a combination of I'm enjoying these characters (except for Connie) and HATE manipulation. Unfortunately manipulation is stock and trade for almost all bad female characters and I shouldn't let myself so upset. And bless you Carlos for your fondness of her but I HATE Connie. Yes Mau was stupid in sleeping with her but her antics culminating in the force (especially with the kids) were despicable. And the stupid I-can't-believe-you-said-that-to-me look she gets on her face whenever Mau stated he can't stand her makes me ill. You would think she killed as many people as Feo (from FELS) based on my reaction to her. It's hard for me to see anything positive about her character. Thanks for letting me rant.
Please mull this over when you are reclining next to the sea with an umbrella drink or an icy beer in your hand, darn you!
One thing admirable about Coni (besides her beauty and sense of style), she is always proactive. She spends very little time wringing her hands and always has a plan.
Carlos
Anyway, I will agree Coni has been given an incredible wardrobe which she wears nearly flawlessly. I can hate on a gal but still admire her rags. :)
Carlos
