Sortilegio, Monday, January 18--Ep #69: You can take the girl out of the drug-induced stupor, but you can't take the memories out of the girl.

Hola! It is I, 5ft Latina! Do not adjust your computers…your tireless blog mom will be back for tomorrow's recap. We just like to keep you on your toes :)

Feliz Cumpleaños to our faithful commenters, Cielo de Levy (cumpliendo años hoy) and Elna June Sonoma (quien cumplió años ayer)! I sent William Levy out to do strip-o-grams, but I fear he may have gotten lost in transit. Darn! Well, maybe we'll get some shirtless scenes in your honor tonight.

Fernando's great uncle passes on the party invite to Fernando and tells him he caught the old guy's eye as a potential mate for his druggie granddaughter.

Sandra!MaryJo is out in the yard, swinging, when Elena finds her. She tries to get SandyJo to chill out, but SandyJo is convinced that stepdaddy is a very, very bad stepdaddy. She's also angry at them for not bringing her back from Spain by force if she was into such bad stuff. She thinks they just should have made her come home. Elena tells SandyJo that she's smart, so she should be able to convince grandpa that she's ok. Also, Emiliano Alaniz will be there and "she" has met him before, so she needs to act like it. SandyJo wants to come clean with grandpa and tell him that she was on drugs, but she's not anymore. And she doesn't care if that loses her the money. Elena tells her to knock off the crazy talk, but SandyJo just walks away from her. Elena may just be figuring out that Sandra 2.0 is just as willful as original recipe Sandra, especially when you piss her off.

At Maura's pink palace, Lisette and Katia lie about how Katia found out that MaryJo has been kidnapped. Maura says Alex isn't doing well, although he did finally make it to the office today, after spending the last two weeks at home dressed like Hugh Hefner (maybe I added that last part). And she doesn't take kindly to Katia's suggestion that she ought to be thrilled because now MaryJo is out of the way and Maura can have her wicked way with Alex. Even Lisette tells Katia to just shut up. Yes, Katia was a latecomer to the game, but she is quickly catching up to Paula on the Shut-Up-O-Meter. The maid announces the arrival of Alex, causing Katia to start squealing that maybe he couldn't stand being alone anymore. Shut up, Katia. Alex gets a hug from Maura and an update from Lisette--she's scheduled for surgery soon, but she has to keep up with the chemo in the meantime (hence the turban that matches the couch). Alex asks for a word in private with Maura, sending Katia into a squealing fit before he's even out of the room. Damn! Shut up, Katia! Poll: What's more annoying? Katia's squeal or Bruno's tsk-ing? If you'd committed some heinous crime and had to be sentenced to spend the rest of eternity in a cell with either Katia or Bruno, who would you pick? Lisette doesn't like that Katia seems to be taking delight in the misfortune of others.

Elena and Bruno talk on the phone. Elena thinks it's risky to talk to SandyJo about Bruno, especially because Katia bandied his name about so freely at her uncle's place. Bruno suggests they use his middle name and tell her that he's "Damián." Great idea, B…she's got drug-induced amnesia, so she probably won't remember having seen The Omen. He also says they ought to use his second "apellido" (last name)--we'll have to wait to see what that is, because I don't remember Vicky's maiden name ever being mentioned.

Alex wants to question Maura again about the kidnapping. She complains that she's told the story to, like, everybody and just wants to forget now, but Alex thinks she may have overlooked a vital detail. She says they were talking about the house, four guys came in, and what happened happened. Alex asks who knew they were going to be at the house at that time, but she doesn't think anyone but the real estate agent's office and Felipa knew. Alex is antsy--the kidnappers only called the one time and they haven't heard anything since. Maura reminds him that she is also upset about her sister's illness. She suggests they share their troubles. No, not like that. Her hands all over him are shouting it, though.

Fernando and Alex are at a restaurant. Fernando praises Alex for getting out of the house and says that work will be a good distraction for him. The problem is that all Alex can think about is MaryJo, even at work, and he's worried about her and worried that it's been 2 weeks and the kidnappers haven't called again. He'd do anything to get her back. He's worried that they might have killed her already, but Fernando tells him to chill, he has no reason to think that. Fer says there are lots of people who have been kidnapped who have some psychological issues, but they do come back alive.

Another week passes.

Bruno is sending Erick to Toluca and he doesn't want him saying goodbye to anyone before he goes. Erick mutters curses under his breath.

Bruno walks in on John and Roberto having a conversation. There's no news about MaryJo. John leaves to go do something and Bruno asks Roberto what he's doing in the house. Roberto is waiting for Vicky so they can go pick up "the girl" from the hospital. Name the damn baby, already, people, what are you waiting for? He'll probably give her a cheesy, sentimental name, too, but it's got to be better than "girl." Bruno asks what's it to him, since the little brat isn't his anyway. Roberto says she's not now, but once he finds Ulises and gets him to sign over his parental rights…. Bruno, ever helpful, says that's not going to happen unless Roberto wants to go all the way to Argentina, or to HELL to find Ulises. That slip is going to cost you in the end, Bruno D. Coyote. Roberto is suspicious that Bruno mentioned Argentina. He was under the impression that Ulises had gone to Madrid after his girlfriend Sandra. Bruno hems and haws about not remembering where he heard that Ulises had gone to Argentina. Vicky comes downstairs. She tells Roberto that it's all settled, they'll put both babies in the same room. Rosie thinks she can handle them both, and if not, they'll hire another nurse. For some bizarre reason, Vicky turns to Bruno and smiles at him as she says they're bringing the girl home. Why does she think that he would (a) care or (b) regard this as any kind of good news? Bruno takes her aside and says he's leaving. He'd been thinking of starting his own business anyway and so he's going out of town to meet with a developer who appreciates his talents. Which ones? Only being able to button his shirt halfway and having lousy follow-through on his nefarious plans? He gets in a bunch of digs about how he's going all the way to Mexico (state) so they should all be happy cause they wanted him gone anyway. Vicky tries to get all maternal, but he tell her to save it. She drops it and tells John that she and Roberto are heading to the hospital and will be back soon. John is unconcerned. He'll smoke his stogie and monitor the situation. Roberto comes outside and tells Bruno this is quite a surprise. Bruno says once he lost hope of ever getting the presidency (dig, dig) he looked into other options so he can finally have what he's been looking for. "Power?" asks Roberto. "Hm, yeah, and something more," Bruno replies. All those cryptic comments are going to bite you in the ass, and soon. Ultimas Semanas, baby, that means the heavy hand of comeuppance is waiting just around the corner to smack you down like a bug. They walk off, and Bruno looks over at John, who heard the whole conversation as he stood outside smoking. John looks like he might be suspicious of Bruno. That would be nice.

Mmm, the Corazon Salvaje promo looks tasty :D

Elena is trying to give SandyJo some last-minute pointers on the way in to grandpa's house. Jorge just tells her to talk as little as possible. She pretends to remember the butler. As he leads them inside, Elena chooses this precise moment to tell SandyJo that she has a boyfriend. SandyJo is not pleased, but asks for his name so she can fake it in front of grandpa. She repeats "Damián" to herself. Porfirio demands they get out of the way so he can get a look at SandyJo. She says hello, but she's rather cold. She apologizes for not coming back sooner. Elena makes excuses about Sandra wanting to finish her studies and then prods SandyJo to give her grandpa a hug. He makes a remark about her bad manners in not greeting his friend, but he's smiling the whole time. He keeps griping, mildly, about her not coming home on her vacations. Elena makes excuses, but he only has eyes and ears for SandyJo. She apologizes, again, for not coming home sooner. She refuses a drink, even when grandpa tries to insist on a toast. He seems to like that she stands her ground and says she doesn't like alcohol, so he tells the butler to bring her a "refresco" (soft drink). He asks about her boyfriend, but cuts her off before she can stumble over his name. He doesn't really care who the guy is, cause he's got one lined up for her. Emiliano tells him to back off, the kids these days aren't into arranged marriages. SandyJo tells him, very firmly, that she would prefer to choose her own boyfriend. Oh, he loves this. Girl's got "carácter" (strong character, both literally and figuratively, but sometimes I've heard people use it as a euphemism for someone who is really just a jerk).

Back at home, Elena talks to Jorge about her misgivings. She's worried that grandpa will try to insist on hooking SandyJo up with Fernando and that Fernando won't buy their story about the twin thing. And that Bruno won't listen to reason. She doesn't think he'll just go away because he ought to for the sake of the plan. Jorge asks if she's suggesting they just put everyone in a coma, the way they did Ulises. Aha! So he's not dead! Well, good, if that means he can sign over paternity to Roberto at some point. Elena is surprised. Even she thought that Jorge killed him. He didn't because he thought Ulises might come in handy at some point. She asks what they're going to do with Bruno and Fernando and he just walks off.

Fernando comes downstairs to see Katia reading a magazine. He asks, but she says that's not all she does, she also goes to visit Lisette and Maura. He suggests a weekend outing, but it's not what she had in mind. She was thinking the beach, but he was thinking of the party Porfirio is going to throw. Katia can't stand the idea of going to a party with a bunch of old people dancing old people dances and eating "papillas" (mush). And the fact that this party will be thrown for Sandra, who is MaryJo's age, does not convince her. With that pair of "old guys" throwing the party, it's bound to suck. She flits off upstairs while Fernando looks like he'd like to strangle her, but doesn't know if he can get away with it.

Now there's a pink crib in the nursery. Felipa is glad that she looks heartier than before, even if she'll always be small for her age. Alex, thank you dear, says they really can't keep calling her "the girl." He suggests Raquel, but Felipa is horrified, "and what if she turns out like her?!" Roberto was thinking Victoria. Alex likes the idea, and so does Vicky. Roberto tries to suggest that they can call the little one "Vicky" but Vicky says no, "Victoria, like her grandmother". So now we have Tiny Tony and Mini Vicky sharing a room. Alex asks if Raquel knows. Big Vicky was thinking of going over to tell her tomorrow and asking if she wanted to come over to the house and see her, but she doesn't think anything's going to get Raquel out of that house. She's waiting for Ulises. Roberto's not offended. He tells Alex that Bruno told him that Ulises went to Argentina, but he thought that Bruno was going to Madrid after his girlfriend, who is supposed to be back soon. He went to Toluca to talk to her mom, but she didn't know where Ulises was. And BTW, he saw a picture of Sandra and it's amazing how she looks like MaryJo. Yeah, Alex knows.

In her room, SandyJo is having a really, really nice dream. About swimming with a really hot guy. But there are also images of a nursing baby in there. It wakes her up. She wonders who that guy is.

The next morning, she prays to the Virgen. Elena interrupts her. SandyJo tells her about the dream. First there was a baby, then she was with this guy in the water. She felt that they loved each other very much, but she doesn't know who he is. She couldn't see his face in her dream, but she's got the kid's face burned on her brain. Elena says she must be starting to remember. It must be someone important to her, maybe someone from Madrid. Here comes Bruno, aka, Damián. He greets Elena and brings SandyJo some roses. She accepts a kiss on the cheek. He tells her that he already knows what's going on and it's ok, he loves her just as much as he did before. She takes off. Elena is pissed that he said that without consulting her or Jorge. He thinks it will build rapport between them. And also, he doesn't like having bosses. Elena looks alarmed. Yep. Better put another cot in Ulises' room.

Damián!Bruno catches up to SandyJo and spins her a tale. He understands about the drugging, hey, who wouldn't in a strange country, feeling abandoned by family. He tells her that they lived together in Madrid. That they were lovers and he tried, oh, how he tried, to get her to quit the drugs, but he got tired of it and came back to Mexico. He apologizes for hurting her so much. She apologizes to him for having failed him.

Fernando tells Alex about the party invite. He'd like to go along too. He says if Sandra is so identical to MaryJo, it might give him the illusion of having her back. He knows she's not MaryJo, but he needs whatever solace he can get. Fernando says he doesn't have a pretense for inviting Alex. Alex says if it's a big party, there's no problem. There will be lots of people and he can just hang out in the background, to watch. Fernando says he'll ask his uncle, but he thinks Alex is sick. Alex agrees.

Elena informs Jorge that Bruno has shown up and that he told SandyJo that he already knows everything. Jorge isn't upset about this. He thinks it shows Bruno's determination. Unlike Elena, he's not worried that Bruno will marry SandyJo and take the money away from them. If they go down, Bruno goes down too. He thinks Bruno is a good ally. Elena doesn't think they should tell him about the party, since Fernando is already invited. Jorge says that does present a problem.

More storytime with Bruno. He was taking a break from working with his family's company. They live in Merida. He has a mom, a sister, a brother, and two "sobrinos" (nieces and/or nephews). It's a big family, but he doesn't get along with them. He's working on opening a resort. He knows everything about her life and he'll tell her anything she wants to know. He said they were lovers because they were, even though he did leave. But now he wants to get her back. He never stopped loving Ma…er, Sandra. She turns away to avoid kissing him. She says she's not accustomed to letting strangers kiss her. He'll wait. He's patient. He asks her to go out to dinner soon. She giggles.

Alex sits behind his desk and stews. He looks at the pictures of MaryJo on his phone and cries. He shoves a bunch of stuff off his desk, picks up his bag, and leaves. Mari tries to remind him about his afternoon meeting, but he ignores her. Maura goes running out after him.

Bruno tells Jorge that he's not after Sandra or MaryJo or whoever's money. He just wants her. Jorge says he needs the money. He shows Bruno a document. He tells him that he wants half of Porfirio's money. Bruno is fine with it, but he needs Jorge to know that people know about MaryJo's twin, so that means Sandra has to disappear. Jorge is aware of that.

Fernando is out with some random woman called Norma. Who he has apparently been talking to about Alex's problems. Norma invites Fernando to a party at Rolando's. She's ok with it being just as friends.

Alex vents to Maura about the lack of a call from the kidnappers. He yells at her when she suggests that MaryJo might be dead. Maybe things went badly, maybe she resisted, who knows. Alex says he was on the island, both he and Fer never thought they'd be back, but they came back. So he doesn't want to give up on MaryJo. Maura, the ever friendly, hugs him and says he may have to. It's only been two weeks people, sheesh!

At Raquel's place, Meche is cleaning. She tells Vicky that Raquel went out. Vicky tells Meche to let Raquel know that they brought the baby home and she's doing fine. Meche wishes Raquel would take an interest in the kid.

Raquel is over at Maura and Lisette's griping to Lisette and Katia that Maura has kept her hanging, waiting for the info of a lawyer so she can get a divorce. She serves herself a drink. Oh, now she's never going home. Lisette makes excuses, but Raquel says Maura just isn't the same lately. Katia says it's because she's busy trying to get Alex back, but Lisette objects. She's just being supportive, which Raquel says is Fernando's job. Raquel is giddy to hear from Katia that they saw Fernando out with a girl his own age. She hopes it means her mother's not going out with him anymore. She finishes her drink and reminds them to remind Maura that she's still waiting on a lawyer's name. She takes off. Lisette gives Katia a hard time for being so "venomous." Katia gives Lisette a hard time for being such a goody-goody lately. It's the mortality. Katia doesn't think Lisette is going to die, but Lisette's hedging her bets. Katia changes the subject, wondering where Bruno is. Lisette rolls her eyes and tells Katia to quit thinking about him.

Felipa sings to Tiny Tony. Some song about how mommy's a rat and daddy's a rat and baby's a little hungry rat. Alex drives up. They fawn over the baby. He'll have lots of girlfriends and be bigger than daddy. Cuco's jealous of the baby.

Upstairs, Roberto is cooing over Little Vicky. He talks about taking her to the park when she's older to teach her how to play fútbol. Rosie says maybe dolls or something. Hey, Rosie, come into this century, will ya? There's nothing wrong with athletic girls. It would probably be good for her health for her to do something active.

In Toluca, Erick comes up to Bruno in a restaurant and reports that he got Bruno a new cell phone and looked at some houses and apartments. He cheerfully asks how things are going with MaryJo. Bruno gets pissed off and tells Erick it's none of his business and he never asked him to sit down. He tells him to go away and eat somewhere more appropriate to his station. Erick smiles as he leaves. Oh, yeah, Erick's revenge will be sweet.

John wants to have a talk with Alex, Roberto, and Big Vicky. John finds it strange that this kidnapping happened in Merida, which is a pretty safe place, and that the kidnappers haven't gotten in touch again about the money. He suspects this might not be a normal kidnapping, but revenge, or an "ajuste de cuentas" (settling up of accounts). For once, Alex blanks and says he hasn't done anything to anyone that anyone would want revenge on him. Plus, if they were pissed at him, why did they take it out on MaryJo? Roberto says that "those people" don’t think that way and they're just looking for easy money instead of working hard to earn it. John proposes another possibility, that MaryJo faked her own kidnapping to run off with a boyfriend. That doesn't go over well. John apologizes, but says they have to consider all the possibilities. Why hasn't he asked for a list of all the people who are mad at Alex yet? Shouldn't he have done that already and been casting his suspicious eyes at Bruno? Shouldn't he have been told about the twin sister in Toluca and gone to interview the family? His last theory is that MaryJo is dead. Alex starts screaming now that she's not.

Pedro is a wreck. Paula et al try to comfort him, but he can't stand it anymore, the lack of news. He is angry that they keep thinking Alex will fix it. If this was about money, it would have been fixed already, but obviously there are some things money can't fix. Pedro goes to lock himself in his room as Paula apologizes for him and has a breakdown of her own.

Tomorrow: Fernando suspects the truth and Alex rages some more.

In case anyone was wondering :)

Thanks so much 5ft Latina for another great recap.

I wonder how they are going to make Sandra disappear.ITA John Segal is not earning his money ask the question who has a grudge against you.

Bruno is making a lot of mistakes left and right with his nasty arrogant self.

Elena is such a whore for money, happy that some of MJ's memories are seeping in to her drug induced amnesia.

I so want Alex to go to that party with Fernando and see MJ.

Kat- Thanks for a stellar recap! Filled in so much that was missed on YouTube as well.

So, has it now been 3 weeks since MJ went missing? 2 weeks of Alex Sulking in Silk, and now another week of him being Obsessed at the Office. :)

Looks like SandyJo (thanks for that great name) will not be as easy to control as they thought. She is not letting Jorge or Granpa P. run all over her and order her around. I had a few de ja vu moments watching the scene where she met Porfirio for the first time. It reminded me of the weekend I just had attending a family friend's funeral in L.A. (where I grew up but haven't lived full time since I went to boarding school in 1989). There were many people there that remembered me as a little girl, who clearly expected me to remember them, gave me big hugs and kisses, prompted me to remember anectdotes and stories, and chided me for not visiting more often (despite the fact that my parents now live in MD). I think I looked exactly like MJ did in that scene- deer in headlights, smile, nod, agree to whatever is being said. Lol!

Kat:

Thank you for your kind wishes. And you have given us another great recap, for that I also thank you.

You asked an important question tonight, and I will give you my answer. Your query: "If you'd committed some heinous crime and had to be sentenced to spend the rest of eternity in a cell with either Katia or Bruno, who would you pick"?

I would pick Bruno, hands down. He's eveeel, yes, but quite predictable. He makes the annoying cluck but he does not screech and he seems to be moderately intelligent. At least with Bruno I would have the hope of an interesting conversation—as long as it was about something Bruno cared about.Bruno is also quite handsome when his mouth is shut. Shudder. With Katia there would be screeching, meaningless bitchy gossip and again, utter self absorption. Plus, eeewww, I do not find her to be at all attractive.

I can't believe they named the baby Victoria.

Thanks for the great recap and birthday wishes, Kat and everyone else too! I had a great day with some close friends and family. Kat, I loved "! I sent William Levy out to do strip-o-grams, but I fear he may have gotten lost in transit." lol!!!

So glad that the baby girl has a name, and she is home. Too sad to face a reality like that. A little baby using machines to survive. And ITA Kat that Roci needs to get with the program here! That baby Victoria just may grow up to be an athlete.

Elna, I would pick Bruno too for all the same reasons. I'd even tolerate having to see his scarves.

Vivi, sorry about your loss. But I definetely know what you mean when people recognize you and you have no idea who they are. Happened to me the last two times I visited India. I visited once when I was 7, then revisited when I was 14 and 16. I didn't remember anybody except for my uncle and his family. I just smiled off the "remember me?" once I realized that everyone seemed to know who I was regardless of whether I had met them before.

The big surprise tonight—Useless is NOT dead. Where is Horrible Jorge warehousing all these semi-stiffs?

Also, I have a few stupid questions for the writers of Sorti...
1. Why would Jorge let Bruno in on SandraJo's money? This whole plot is really lame, I am sorry.
2. Why does Alex welcome Maura's wandering hands?
3. Why is Elena still breathing? By all the laws of karma she shouldn't make it to the next airing of Sorti.
4. Why does Sea gull just stand around and smoke?
5.Why does it seem like it is taking so long for this TN to end?

The writers are engaging in unpardonable behavior—they are not engaging my attention in las ultimas semanas.

Cielo de Levy i even tolerate Bruno's scarves LOL and ITA.Glad you had a Happy Birthday.

Katia i would take one of Bruno scarves and see if a could make a muzzle out of it for her.

Maura really only three weeks have past since the MJ kidnapping and now you want Alex to get over her.You are desperate and pathetic.

What kind of memory drugs Dr.Demented is working on they don't seem very effective.

So he didn't kill off Useless i wonder how he plans to use him?

Elna June there is nothing at all attractive about Katia, if Fernando had killed her it would be a public service. Can't he ship her off to some boarding school?

Elna June you're covering a lot in your last comments.

It does seem like all John Segal does is give a couple of lines and smokes his cigars.

Hello can we say investigate a kidnapping here.

I give Alex a pass he hasn't let her kiss him which i'm sure she wants to do.The boy is grieving and in shock as long as her hands don't wander below the belt buckle then i'll keep my ire in check with the desperate heifer.

I am really pissed off everytime i see Elena, i hoping the next time she is grooming the horse Bruno comes.

The horse gets upset by being in the presence of evil and rears up and kicks her in the head instant desired death. Ye4ah i know i'm not writing the story but one can dream can't we.

Didn't Bruno turn down the money and say he just wants MJ, now there is definitely something wrong with this part Bruno turning down money.

We only have about maybe four more weeks of Sorti so enjoy.

Elna, LOL! Why is Elena still breathing--that's a good one!

Anon, seriously Maura is way too desperate. She is taking way too much advantage of Alex's situation. Why is she still breathing?

I like that Lissette has been moving to the good side. I vote to sacrifice the lives of Elena and Maura in exchange for the her life.

As for Bruno, I think the big deal for him now is simply to ensure that Alex suffers. He just wants revenge. He'll definetely have to pay big for that when Alex finds out. Is the fiesta for Sandra tomorrow? It should be the big moment of realization for Fernando and Alex.

Fantastic recap, and so quick!! Thank you. I loved your line about "putting another cot next to Ulysses." very witty.

Kat, I always marvel at your humor, starting with the title and going straight through.

Loved your idea of sending Alex over as a Strip-o-gram to give birthday wishes to our gals...not surprised he got lost. Imagine several thousand women hijacked him along the way.

Too many great lines to quote but "Tiny Tony and Mini Vicky" absolutely cracked me up.

You are fabulously funny. Thanks.

Thanks, Kat, for another great recap. I appreciate some giggles to start the day. Big Vicky and Mini Vicky ...excellent. Vivi, I enjoyed ''sulking in silk.'' It's good to know that Useless is not dead but rather in suspended animation. Perhaps, he will be reanimated at some point and be useful in turning SandyJo back into Maryjo. It seemed that Sandy was channeling Annie Oakley last night. She must be searching for a style . Elena is still a hot mess wrapped in flowing layers of voluminous material. Meh. Doesn't she ever wear a teeshirt and jeans ? DamBruno is still in there trying to get the girl. I, too, would choose him over Katia as a cellmate. I've been around enough Katias in my time. Basta. That whole coven...Katia, RaqHell, Maura, and Lisette deserve a couple anvils...well, Lisette has already gotten her anvil. And so, time marches on. I loved the scene of Robert o o kootchie cooing to Mini Vicky. So Sweet. Am I the only one who is actually looking forward to Corazon Salvaje ?

Thanks for a funny and great recap Kat. I've always enjoyed your recap ever since I started lurking here.

Is it just me who likes Don Porfirio? He's an old coot but still a hoot. I love it when he throws his darts at Jorge and Elena.

I had a chuckle when Sandra Jo(appropriate name Kat) woke up from her hot dream that she kissed the air as if she was still kissing her mysterious guy.

I think Bruno/Damian counted on Sandra Jo who's actually Mary Jo at heart not to down right turn him down. Mary Jo would give somebody another chance specially if she thinks she might have done him wrong.

Bruno is not interested in Sandra's money in my opinion because if he's successful in getting Sandra Jo to marry him, wouldn't he have access to Mary Jo's money. Mary Jo still has the majority shares of the Lombardo company due to the divorce settlement from Alex. He could probably produce somehow on the marriage certificate the name of Maria Jose instead of Sandra. Plus he can flaunt it to Alex that the got the girl after all.

I don't think Jorge plans to share anything with Bruno. He might have something planned for wily Bruno.

Happy Birthday to the Caray celebrants!

LV

Great recap Kat. I always enjoy your wit. Susanlynn I'm looking forward to Corazon Salvaje. Can't wait to see Big Ed with long flowing locks. Does anyone know what youtube episode we are on? I've lost count again. I would have to pick Bruno over Katia too. She is such an annoying heifer. All that screeching gives me such a headache.

Great recap Kat. I always enjoy your wit. Susanlynn I'm looking forward to Corazon Salvaje. Can't wait to see Big Ed with long flowing locks. Does anyone know what youtube episode we are on? Thanks for a great recap...as usual Kat. I would definately pick Katia for my cell mate. She would eventually get picked off by some other inmate with her attitude, compulsive gossip, and other disturbing attributes...either that or she would drive herself crazy and be put on the psych ward. Bruno's tsk tsk tsk would drive ME insane.

Umm...Did anyone else catch the crotch shot in the painting at Wacki Raqui's apartment? In what TN production meeting was that
decided?

Elna June...there are NEVER stupid questions for the TN writers...I think we all have several of those moments.

I have lost hope that Maura will redeem herself. I really hoped she would. Lookes like Lisettes is coming around to the more compassionate side.

Could Katia be any more selfish? I say roll her in Snausages and leave her for Cuco.

Again...just want to thank ALL of the recappers. I would be so lost without you.

Muchos gracias, Kat, for another marvellous recap. And feliz cumpleaños to Cielo and Elna June.

I agree that Seagull isn't doing a great job of investigating, but hey, give him a break. He's also busy with Luz and with dehydrated Emiliano in ENDA!

Fabulous recap as always. One of the highlights of my week is sitting with a cup of coffee and smiling from ear to ear as I read your review. Thank you!

Dear Bruno. His clever little mind just cranks out these complicated plots, but then he trips up on the stupidest things. I guess he has to set himself up for the major fall at the end. Erick is not a happy henchman.

I wanted to just shake Victoria and Alex both that neither of them is even remotely suspecting Bruno. as soon as John had said "revenge" light bulbs, firecrackers, bombs should have been going off in their brains. How could Alex say he has no enemies.? Maybe not outside the house, but come on...what drugs has Dr. Hernan been giving him?

So Fer, Roberto and John at least have active brain cells and might be putting two and two together. Of course, being a TN, it will take a few episodes to get them moving. Which one will be our hero?

Katia is so worthless. Is there any redeeming aspect to her or a reason for her character? Maybe we can give her a one way trip to Dr. Demento's Coma Farm.

I'm with everyone else: major surprise that Useless is still around. Dr. D thinks he could come in handy? We'll have to call him Useful now.

All I can say at this point is that someone better get moving to rescue MJ. John, get in your car and follow the guy!
daisynjay

'Hope springs ...' DID the doctor say something about putting Bruno in a coma???! Vaya now that would be useful.

"1. Why would Jorge let Bruno in on SandraJo's money? This whole plot is really lame, I am sorry."

If Bruno marries SandyJo before Jorge and Elena can pry Porfirio's fortune from SandyJo's hands, Bruno could be in control of the $$$ as SandyJo's marido. So it's best to keep Bruno happy for now until they figure out what to do with him.

"2. Why does Alex welcome Maura's wandering hands?"

Because Alex still hasn't gotten it through his head that Maura wants him. He thinks of Maura as a good time and a cheap thrill and thinks she feels the same about him. That's why he doesn't take the threat of Maura seriously.

"3. Why is Elena still breathing? By all the laws of karma she shouldn't make it to the next airing of Sorti."

Well Gabriela from FELS regularly slapped her daughters, vowed revenge on them and was like "Whatevskis" when one daughter was brutally raped. Yet she appeared on capitulo after capitulo. Elena isn't even a 10th as evil as her. Shoot, Babs from MEPS was worse than Elena.

"4. Why does Sea gull just stand around and smoke?"

Because he's observing the situation. He already knows it's not a typical kidnapping so he's just laying in the background figuring things out. It's easier to get information when people think all you're doing is sitting around smoking because they aren't on their guard.

"5.Why does it seem like it is taking so long for this TN to end?"

Well they flashed up ULTIMAS CAPITULOS last night so it will be over soon.

Katia needs a punishment, but I don't know what that could be. She's been expelled from school, fired from Lombardo Inc., dumped by her lover, shipped off to a Toluca ranch and now her friends are experiencing disgust with her. So beyond death or jail, the only appropriate punishment for her is to be shunned by everyone, including Fernando and Tio Emiliano.

Who is going to do in Bruno? Let's see--we have Erik, Alex, Fernando, Dr. Demento, Maura (doubt it). Who else?

LOL comments from Carlita, Juanita and Daisynjay too funny.

Does anyone know how old Eduardo Yanez is and how old was Eduardo Paloma when he made his version of CS?

While i have never seen CS after seeing the promo my opinion guys he looks to old to play somebody who is suppose to be what late 20's early 30's?

Kat: Loved your witty recap. You never disappoint! Excellent, as always.

Thanks to the other recappers who've been posting the past few weeks. I have been watching very little but have been keeping up via the very much appreciated recaps.

Kat, if I had to choose between Bruno or Katia, it would have to be Bruno, simply for intellectual reasons as others have cited.

Vivi, my condolences on your loss.

Susanlynn, loved your "Annie Oakley" comparison. I'm with you and Connie in eagerly anticipating the return of my BLMOE, Eduardo Yanez.

Carlita, I howled at "I say roll her in Snausages and leave her for Cuco." Wonderful.

Diana

Anonymous~~Those were insightful answers to the questions. Diana~~I am maintaining a positive outlook concerning Corazon Salvaje and Salvaje Ed. Let's see, how will Bruno be dispatched. Al won't kill him because he's the galan. Maybe Jorge who give him a double dose of his Sleepytime potion. Katia needs to do some public service with less fortunate members of society. Why are they introducing the hot young girl for Fer at this point? What's the point ? I think Fer and BigVic will end up together because they are in looove. If I can't have Roberto o o , perhaps he should end up with the nanny.

Maybe the stepdad from peyton place will brainwash Useless into killing off Bruno.

Once Alex and Fer figure out what happened to MJ theyll realize that that phone call from Elena that Maura was mad at mari about and the fact that Mj was with her when Mj was taken Alex will turn all his anger on her and hack her to pieces and finally realize how to get rid of a weapon.

Thanks, Kat, for another terrific, funny and snarky recap.

Carlita, I also noticed that risque painting in Raquel's place. But they blurred out the naughty part. Why even have a painting in the background if you have to blur it out!

Connie, you raised a number of people who could kill Bruno. Another would be Katia. She's a loose cannon, and one day she'll realize how Bruno's been treating her (maybe soon, if she goes to that party). Being so young, maybe she won't get too much punishment (actually she could get a reward, since Bruno's so bad).

I've been picturing Jorge putting everyone into a coma. He'd have them lined up, Ulises, Bruno, Fernando and Alex. But unbeknownst to him, Elena shut off the coma drugs. They all come alive at once, like zombies, and attack!

Are good guys ever named Jorge? It just doesn't sound like a good guy name to me. Someone should do a list of the most commmon good guy and bad guy names in novelas. We already know the good girls often have some sort of Maria in their name.

Susanlynn big Ed is still sexy no matter how old he is my knock is he's not playing a age appropriate role for himself.

I'd spend all eternity with Bruno because he'd blackmail someone to get us out!

It would be really appropriate for Katia to kill Bruno. Imagine the look on his face when she puts the screws to him for a change.

Loved the recap 5ft. So Bruno finally has a light bulb moment that others know of MJ's twin. How will they make her disappear since she is already in a coma? Will they kill her? I thought Uli was dead but he's only in a coma. I wonder when will he wake up and will he also have amnesia? For a investigator, John isn't the sharpest tool in the box. He should've started looking into all the enemies Alex has starting with Bruno. He also should've looked into MJ's family background and found out about her twin. That brings me to this question. How come her abuelo didn't become suspicious of "Sandra's" non existent Spanish accent if she has lived in Spain all this time. That would've been a red flag right there. Maura stop trying while you're ahead. Alex is not going to turn to you in his grief. So take you slimey hands off of him. In the previews, it looks as though Fernando finally starts putting the pieces together. Let's hope they do soon before Bruno tries to get MJ to fall back in love with him. At least she's still dreams of Alex even if she doesn't remember him anymore.

I don't care how old Big Ed is supposed to be. He can stand there all by himself with clothes on---or not. Go swimming, take a bath. It's all good to me. I just finished watching Destilando (for the 3rd time). The ending is so awesome. Now I can replay it over and over...

Good point about Katia doing the killing. She's a minor so would probably receive a different punishment.

Pirate Babe- Accents with teenagers are strange, being that they are somewhere between childhood and adulthood. I have cousins who came to the States as teenagers who easily take on an American accent, and others whose accents remain as Jamaican as the day they stepped off the plane. Sandra could have gone either way. We know that she picked up a Spanish accent, but Porfirio hasn't spoken to her or seen her for years.

-Vivi

Well now that you put it that way Vivi. You're right about accents. I have lived in Ohio pretty much all my life but people insist that I've lived on the islands LOL.

Kat – thank you for a superb recap. I haven’t had a chance to watch my recording yet …. And Un Gancho comes on a in few minutes---at the new and improved senior citizen hour. (ack) LOVED your snark, and the Sandra 2.0 version. LOL

”So now we have Tiny Tony and Mini Vicky sharing a room”
Yikes. At first read, I thought that said Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki.

ElnaJune - Put your telenovela beanie hat back on your head and stop asking the writers such difficult (a/k/a intelligent) questions. LOL

A CS promo? So they’re really going to show that thing up here, north of the border. Aaaaack!

Doris, Doris, where is your sense of adventure? There could be naked bathing/swimming scenes. Or at least we can hope. :P

It would be a quick end to everything if SandyJo wears a low-necked dress to the fiesta. Fer and Alex take one look at the scar and kidnap her right back from under Jorge and Bruno!Damian's noses.

But, it seems we still have enough episodios to go that it's not going to happen this way, or at least not this week.

It seems Jonathan Seagull isn't going to be earning his pay. Our two galans have to be the rescate heroes.

Kat, you never cease to amaze. Great recap, and a big surprise to have you posting Monday's show.

It sure looks like they're not planning to have MJ kidnapped that long. Supposedly, if Alex shows up at the charreada his pheromones will find MJ, and she'll remember him from her dream.

I was FURIOUS at Bruno (big surprise, right) for telling MJ that they had been lovers living together in Spain. He's planning to speed up the jumping-her-bones phase of the relationship by telling her she'd already been there.

I hadn't considered that Bruno was thinking he'd get any money by getting MJ. For one thing, it seems he wants to marry Sandra. How can he get MJ's share of the Lombardo fortune if he's legally married to a different person? Of course, he could be planning to cut Jorge out of Porfirio's money, but Porfirio has to die first. He was ill, but looks pretty healthy to me right now. I think he really is obsessed with having MJ. I'm not clear how much of this is taking her from Alex and how much is genuine sexual obsession.

I'm getting a little bored with the scenes in Pedro's casita. Pedro, Meche, Gabriel and Chucho as a team don't do much for me.

And, yes, I'm sick and tired of Alex's cluelessness in letting Maura climb all over him as a supposed sympathetic friend. That's not normal behavior between friends of the opposite sex, and he should be picking up on Maura's intentions.

Too bad Alex doesn't have a cattle prod. Get your hands off of me you heifer--zappppp! Ha!

And why does Lizette believe her sister is focused on her serious health status.! Does she still not see how selfish her social set is? If Lizette is truly looking for peace of mind she will first have to look into the sick souls that surround her. Like Victoria she ought to acknowledge the monsters she has associated with and is related to.

Connie LOL cattle prod or taser gun what ever is available to get that heifer away from Alex.

Novelera lets be patient he didn't get with MJ when he thought his first crazy scheme to pretend to be Alex.

I am hoping the dreams that MJ is having of her baby and Alex will keep her from buying the bull Bruno is spinning for her now.

It seems that her upbringing from Pedro is still a part of her, when she told Elena she didn't care about the money. Then when she was praying that's something the old MJ would do.

It seems this mind control that the three stooges thought up is not going as well as they expected.

My credulity is stretched as much by Mary Jo losing her memory as it is by having a glimpse of Yanez with long stringy hair. In either case, I don't buy it.

OT: Is that a twin story? the one with Yanez?

Bonney, by the promo they showed, it looks like Aracely will be playing a blonde and a redhead, presumably twins, one evil and one good. But was hair dye that good back in the day?

Yes, Aracely will play both Aimée and Mónica (here they changed the name to Regina). In the past the actors playing them have been different. In 1993 Mónica/Regina was played by Edith González and Aimée by Ana Colchero (Novelera: that's the girl from the clip of the trial I linked to in the ENDA line, but she was younger as Aimée).

Juan is in his 20's in both versions but he is the oldest of the bunch. There must be at least about an 8 year difference between him and the twins in CS '09.

Eduardo Palomo was 31 when he played Juan del Diablo.

Jarocha

Thanks Jarocha and would you know how old is Eduardo Yanez i think someone said when MEPS was on he was 45 years old.

Maybe this has been brought up in the past, but I can't believe that Ale does not have a P.I. on retainer. He's got mucho dinero, so don't comprehend why he and Fer have to do all the sleuthing.

MrsImgallego he does John Seagall is the family insurance PI i believe someone said yesterday but all the guy is doing so far is standing around and smoking his cigars.

Yañez is 49 years old.

Thanks Kat! ITA Novelera! Also a big shout out to whomever suggested watching Amor Real. I was hooked within the first few minutes and I can tell it's going to be a great ride...
jb

I'm recording it but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It's got to be better than the DVD.

I watched the last episodes of Destilando Amor last week and I'm still crying. That was a great telenovela.

Amor Real was a MAJOR hit. All my co-workers who are Mexican were watching it. One night I worked late and stopped off at a taquería to avoid scrounging in the fridge. No one came to wait on me for a while because they were all clustered around the TV watching Amor Real! I had to stick my fingers in my ears and go la, la, la because it was halfway over when I walked in. I only wanted to see it from the beginning and knew my DVR would be saving it for me.

This is the ONLY TN I have ever watched a second time.

Wasn't Destilando awesome?! The ending was so good. I've cried each time I see it.

Anon:

I love the idea of sending Katia to another boarding school. This time let's make it a military academy. A little discipline would do that child good. In my imagination she would have an amply proportioned (fat) drill instructor who had a mean streak toward skinny mean girls.

EJ, following in your footsteps as a fantasy TN writer.

It was awesome. I particularly liked the way the Martha Julia character was reformed by becoming a teacher. how she fell from the top to the bottom and then remade herself. The fiesta in Tequila was perfect.

Elna June great minds think a like someone along the lines of female drill sargent like in Full Metal Jacket make her appreciate what she has.

Doris:
49? I like Eduardo, but at 49 to play a character that is supposed to be played by a 20-30 something, I can see why I've seen comments that his character just doesn't work. You can argue he should know better and accept the fact he wasn't age appropriate for the role, but I guess the ego sometimes just won't realize that. I like my 9 o'clock TN hour, hope CS is not too disappointing.

Mrs. 5ft. I'm on a phone so I really can' t do the recap quotes that I'd like to do but , your recaps never disappoint, thanks! Creative writers, is there any way that both Katia and Erick could shoot Bruno at the same time with a double barrel shotgun with two triggers? Three birds with one shot, Katia and Erick in prison and Bruno dead! (This from a grandmother of two!)

Sandy include Maura in that scenario and you got a deal LOL.

Also, all you gals picking eternity with Bruno, I'd pick Katia.....Why you say? Superman Alex might help spring Katia, but no chance at escape with Bruno!!!!

OK anon, a double barrel shotgun with three triggers!

Yáñez is 50, Palomo was 43 when he died.

Add Paula & Cuco to the do in Dam/Bruno list.

He told Jorge he wasn't interested in money, he just wants SJ.

If MJ really was dead Tonito would get the money.

Watched Amor Real, there are very few things that I recognize, they cut so much from the DVD.
My telenovio is estupendo.

Sandy LOL.

Anon:11:52

Such nice answers you gave to my earlier questions. I agree with you about Alex not getting Maura's intentions but I see it as willful misunderstanding on his part.

Hombre and Beth: I am with you on choosing Katia to off Bruno. It is just the kind of impulsive thing she could do and she could probably be reformed while in jail. Or maybe a murder suicide? Then Vicky and Fernando would finally have something in common.

EY b'day is 8/25/60, born in DF.
He's 6'3¼" tall

Interesting, Vario, that you hardly recognize things from the first two hours of AR. A fellow TN lover gave me a DVD of Corazon Salvaje (the 1993 version) and now I'm reluctant to watch it because I fear butchering. This is supposed to be the best version - the 1993.

Anon Tue Jan 19, 05:09:00 PM EST -
I'm not just referring to the 'kidnapping.' He should've had PI's since the murder attempt on his life.

Amor Real rocks. I haven't seen it for awhile, and even though I only understand bits and pieces of the dialogue, I know the storyline. Great show. So do we have a count of who is in for Corazon Salvaje besides Connie and me ? I think Captain Sylvia will watch since she enjoys pirates and Big Ed.

I probably won't watch CS. Since everyone says the "classic" is the 1993 version, I'll probably watch my DVD. Yáñez doesn't really do it for me. He has a lovely smile, and maybe he was better in other things than FELS, but the FELS character never seemed like he was playing with a full deck. And I like my galans smart.

I am ambivalent.I don't know about CS, the age thing bugs me. I found TBLMOE to be too old for the role in MEPS (I still think he walks on water) and Yanez in 7 years older than Colunga!

I just couldn't buy TBLMOE as the 40 year old virgin, although if he was going to wait for anyone, it should be Silvia Navarro.

I'd like to hear from Jarocha what she thinks.

I don't think Yañez looks 49, but he doesn't look like in his twenties either. The age thing with Arámbula doesn't bother me either, she has always had older co-stars. Plus she is 34 so it is only 15 years of difference, heh.

I'll leave you to decide if you like the new version. You might enjoy it. The one from 1993 was excellent and I loved everything about it. The complete novela is on youtube so you could try to catch it there. It also goes faster than the 2009 version because it is only 80 episodes long, while the new version will be around 200. They have changed many things including the backround of the characteres and the only names they are using again are Juán, Noel and Aimée (but they changed their last names). So if you already watched the '93 version this one might be completely different to you.

Jarocha

Novelera: If you have the DVD's watch them. This might tempt you.

Jarocha
