Good morning Dipity...yes, we downtrodden Ohioans did see a little blue sky yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your mother. These telenovelas do bring up painful issues for most of us. Although the hurts in my life were different, when I see them portrayed in one of these stories, it's excruciating. But less so as time goes on.

Hate any story that takes a mother away from her baby, but at least the little guy has a nurse that he's used to.

Thanks for noting Alex's exquisite buns! When I was watching that train wreck of an extension of Cuidado, sometimes Levy's buns were the only thing that made the episode worthwhile.

If you can't find a recapper for Feb. 10, just have someone post a heading. You've got some savvy bloggers who can fill in details and plenty of people to comment.
 

When there were actually intelligent discussions of alcoholism as a disease with comparisons to diabetes, I thought there was hope for redemption for Raquel--but I think she's too far gone to be saved. Looking at that perfectly healthy plump baby in the incubator, it's pretty clear she will survive to be raised by someone other than Raquel. . .it will be a relief when the anvil finally falls on that one.
 

Dipity, thanks for your recap. As another Ohian, I'm relaxing with morning coffee before once again heading into the cold. JudyB, I think we get some more sun again today! The little joys in life!

Poor Raquel, she hangs unto the belief that Useless was really into her and it's everyone else's fault he disappeared. Like her brother, they take no responsibility for their own problems. It had to really hurt Vic to see her like that and walk away, but there is not much she can do unless Raquel sees she needs the help herself. Something, I think, will still happen to get her to that point. . I find it hard to believe they would let both Vic's kids go to ruin by the end. Bruno would be our candidate for being knocked off at the end, the ultimate evil villian, but Rack is just stupid and spoiled. Has to be some redemption in her future.

Poor Paula. I guess she really has fallen for Roberto, but you can tell for him it's all about being a big brother/friend. I still think the TN gods are lining her up for Gabriel.

All I can say about the whole keystone cops raging after Alex and poor Eze...Alex, you buried it on the property? Really? BIG POND on property and you bury it in a flower bed? I guess even our Fearless hero has his brain-freeze moments. Maybe this will be Raquel's saving. she'll be found guilty by reason of insanity (alcohol addiction can qualify)and get the real help she needs (plus wake her up to her problem.)

So we shift to the evil villan No.2 and having he and Elena do weird and nasty things to MJ to convince her she's Sandra. Not my fav part of this part of the TN, and hopefully it moves quickly since we're not far from the end.

I was so frustrated when the cops pulled up on Zeke and Alex that I could not sit and watch- so I missed the buns scene. Que lastima!

That kidnapping was scary. And MJ realized last minute that Maura had something to do with it because Maura kept yelling to the kidnappers "it's her",making sure they got the right person. Didn't stop them from roughing her up though (good!) and it will surely come back to bite her in the butt- if Bruno or Dr. Demento don't bump her off first. In Felipa's defense, once again, no one but Alex (and all the bad people) know that Maura went so far in her jealousy before to plot against MJ. Yeah, MJ and Felipa may not like her and think she's a b*tch. But they wouldn't make the logical leap that she could be dangerous without all the facts. Alex should be making that logical leap.

So my theory about Alex being so incompetent at covering up an attempted murder is that the good guys are not supposed to be good at that stuff. Only the bad guys. That's my theory at least. Otherwise the writers just made our hero look incredibly and uncharacteristically dumb. :)

Alex's plan was way beyond dumb, bordering on retarded.

Love your name for Rachel. She is a wreck for sure. My second husband was an alcoholic and that's part of the reason I left him. After I left he got himself a DUI and he said it was my fault because I wasn't there. Huh? You've got to love that logic. I'd almost be tempted to just give Rachel her wish and leave her there by herself.
 

In the avances, it looks like Raquel comes to some realization about herself when she finds out Alex is in jail for covering up for her. Maybe she will straighten up.

MJ is in trouble & Alex is in jail. We have a big problem.
 

Thank you for the recap, dipity. I totally forgot to record this episode. Probably a Freudian slip....FELS was ridiculous but fodder for great snark. This isn't even laughable..... I'm sorry about your mother, dipity. The disease of alcoholism is insidious. It has affected many members of my own family tree.

Raquel's baby will have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and it may well affect that baby's decision-making abilities all her life, too. I saw a show about FAS on 20/20, ages ago, and it was a real eye-opener.

Que the ???? with Ale trying to bury the knife? Good grief. Throw it in the dishwasher, or in the garbage. The police would never look there, as the garbage man would have come ages ago and they know that. Reminds me of a girl I knew in college, who tried to sneak beer into the dorm thru a side door. It was the EMERGENCY exit, for heavens sake. The alarm went off, and she got caught and in BIG trouble. WE all carried our beer & alcohol right thru the lobby in a paper grocery bag and nobody knew.
Ale + Ezekiel = The Great Brain Trust of Mérida? I don't think so.
 

I forgot to add this morning before heading to work that Cuco and his new little novia were adorable. To the writers, since you didn't show enough cute bambinos or Alex in all his shirtless glory (in fact you showed him in a not-so-bright light. DON'T do that again!), I will forgive you being a pet lover.
 

So Roberto is off to Teluca to search for Useless, and from the preview it looks like he just misses them bringing in MJ. Ay, what a nail biter! I wonder if they will tell him the lie about Useless being in "Argentina" too?

Yep, it looks like Paula has been hit hard by Cupid's arrow when she gets that kiss on the cheek from Roberto. He clearly sees her as a little sis (making sure she does her homework). I wonder if she will act on her feelings? Even as determined as Paula is, I can't see her pulling a hoochie mamma move on Roberto. Although Pedro has been willing to skirt the law a few times, and has some victim mentality issues, I agree with you LV that he must have done something right because both MJ and Paula (even with her forceful personality) are good people who clearly love him loads.

The thing about numbers Pedro and Chucho were talking about are the accounts for the store that Pedro is ususally in charge of. Chucho, Gabe and Meche have not been keeping up with the receipts and the accounts are a mess. So Pedro is useful afterall! :)

After all out talk about prayers to the Virgencita yesterday, I noticed that Pedro prayed when he returned home. Maybe their religious upbringing had something to do with MJ and Paula’s value system.

Vario, I noticed Raqhell’s face in the advances too, perhaps redemption for her. OK, I’m going to be heartless, it is perfectly fine with me if some type of anvil drops on her head...harming you unborn hija and then abandoning the criatura....I’m finished with her!! I don’t give a rat’s patuti what happens to her... There, I feel better.

The really funny thing about burying the knife is that were digging against the footings of an old hacienda with a spade, what was with that? They drove past a lake to do it! Having watched lots of crime shows, in a similar situation, I would NEVER commit a bonehead error like that!! They live just a few miles from the OCEAN.
 

I agree Sandy in TN. Why didn't they even suspect that the cops would be watching them? Their story was pretty fishy in the first place. All these people around and no one saw the attacker?

Here's where my are you kidding me that you wrote this part of the story like this and i am supposed to believe someone is this stupid?

So many options the big ol' pond in the middle of the property. The dishwashing machine and put it back with the other knives in the drawer.

So much time had past how about as suggested throwing it away in the garbage, and burning the incriminating shirt.

Then stupidest scene of the plot Alex along with his trusty sidekick Ezeke have to drive the knife off of Lombardo property.

The area the chose they could have just the damn knife in the bushes.If the cops came along told them they had to go to the bathroom.

Unbelievable and very stupid plot, no amount of beanies could make it in anyway plausible.I guess it was thrown in so MJ could wait r turn to Alex when the Miss Skankness came to pick her up.
 

Thanks for the recap Dipity and sorry about your mother. Alcoholism is a terrible disease and its impact is devastating to the person and his/her family and friends.

Though Raquel may see the light, I'm with Sandy. She deliberately poisoned her unborn daughter and has yet to make contact with her. She needs to be locked up.

Alex and EZ - ITA with the brain freeze comment. The whole thing was so dumb.

The kidnapping was terrible. I can't wait until its all over and MJ is back with Alex.

Agree about the intensity and pain of the Raqui scenes; Andrade is doing a masterful job of bringing that misery to life. My 55 year-old beloved grandmother died of this baffling and cunning disease when I was 11.

When Bobo took off to look for Uli, DH wondered if this might be his opportunity to save the day and rescue MJ somehow? That would surely bring him all the way into the light, not that wanting to adopt a sick little criatura that isn't even his own doesn't give him heaps of good guy points. Still love watching this character develop. Marcelo is wonderful in this part.

Not only did Alex lose some brain cells in this episode, so did Maura. How can she possibly believe the way to Alex' heart is through once again trying to hurt his woman? As for being threatened by Bruno, she's handled him before and could have gotten out of this. She's cooked her goose for sure and I just hope she lives long enough for Alex finally, finally to put her in her place.

No Cielo, the most ridiculous thing ever shown in a telenovela, at least the ones from the past year, was the birth through jeans of Cuidado. I think of that scene and any other tn ridiculousness seems brilliant by comparison. LOL!

This comes close though, but I'll forgive the writers this one time. Still can't believe I missed the pants shot because I couldn't take watching the ridiculous scene!

Yeah Cielo. I think it is one of those unwritten TN rules that we talk so much about. We should make a list of rules just for fun. I think maybe we started one during FELS but it's been so long ago I can't remember.

Susanlynn, do you think I should record Amor Real? I didn't really like the DVD very much. It starts on Monday. The finale of Destilando is this week. (I think tonight actually). It's a really good one.

Okay, I still feel sorry for Maura. She really had no idea what was happening. She certainly didn't envision 6 guys in black suits converging on them and violently hitting her. But now that it's done, she's still in plenty of hot water. Bruno has a hold over her, since he can threaten to tell Alex, which would ruin her plans to reconquer him (which doesn't look too plausible anyway, but we'll see).

I also hope somehow Roberto will see something in Toluca which will help the good guys find MJ.

But for Bruno, what a wonderful day this was! His plan with Jorge worked, and although he doesn't know it yet, Alex is in jail, so maybe Bruno will get back the Presidency. Yes, Hernan is VP, but the cops seem to be smart this week, so maybe they could prove that Hernan tipped off Alex to move the knife. And Bruno wants MJ, too. Maybe he can cook up some threat to make her agree to remarry him, if she ever wants to see her baby again!
 

I'm not a big fan of Maura but she did seem totally freaked out about the kidnapping. And who wouldn't be with a bunch of guys in black ski masks running around.

I’ve seen part of this plot in other TNs: Damsel is kidnapped and galan is in jail—helpless to rescue her.

If you know the police are snooping around and you go down a dirt road to hide the murder weapon, pull the car out of site!

The sillyness with the knife MUST have been inserted by the understaff script writer. REally! as though rich people don't know 'a knife gets put away in the kitchen and a soiled towel goes into the laundry hamper'. WEEAk. And involving EZ in absurd steps is unforgiveable.
 

Ok Vivi you have definitely made me rethink my rant on the knife scene.Nothing and i do mean nothing can top the stupidity of Ana Julia giving birth through tight fitted blue jeans.

The fact the the producers and director thought it was ok to actuallt show this scene on TV still amazes me.

Elaina and her husband would have no use for MJ after she inherits and signs the money over to them. I'm just thinkin' here. Would Bruno want to keep the Sandra/MJ to torture Alex? How much longer is this telenovela? I hope there's not enough time for this insane situation to go on.
Ironic that MJ would be in the reverse situation of not knowing Alex as her husband. Just like the beginning of the story.
 

Beth- Paula is in college studying computers (programming?). Although I think she and Roberto have a very nice friendship, I think she's too immature for him, and for all the baggage he is bringing along- bi-sexuality, alcoholic crazy soon to be ex-wife, sick baby, victim of attempted murder... Too much drama. Paula's already a drama queen. She doesn't need the added drama.

Thanks for your recap. I am sure glad your computer problems are over and that you got a ray of sunlight in Ohio.

Last night was a rough one in Univision TN land. First we have a baby dying and a terribly disturbing scene on Gancho, my new favorite, and then MJ is brutally kidnapped.

I can only hope that the pop in the face for Maura mars her perfect appearance and will give her something to think about.

Now that other recappers filled me in on what I missed in the Dr. Horrible plot, namely his expertise in ERASING memory, I am even more horrified to see MJ with Mommy Dearest.

And La Niñita may not be doomed to a dreadful life, but surely some problems will accompany her courtesy of her mother. So many of us have had alcoholic family members that this story line is quite painful. I appreciate your taking this on, Dipity, when it must raise difficult feelings.

On the acting side, the actress playing Raquel has pretty much nailed addition psychosis. It is not pretty and it can't be fun for her to play a person so lost in her dark drama that she cannot bond with her own child. I believe she has a young baby in real life? If so, she is making a heroic effort on this TN.
 

Is that what Maura was yelling? I couldn't make it out and just thought she was screaming/yelling. My friend never came to get my laptop so if I can get the screen to come on I'll be able to recap tonight's episode. If not, I'll post a heading.
 

Elna June your desciption of Elena as Mommy Dearest has led me to ask this question from everyone.

Who is a worse mother Vicki for the way she raise her two bloodsucking twins? Perhaps Elena who didn't care at all about MJ and Paula and only took Sandra with her because she was very sick.

Used Sandra to have access to her second husband's father's money. Drove her daughter probably to a life of drugs and alcohol and eventual overdose.

Now has plotted twin kidnapped Sandra identical twin because Sandra is brain dead to keep having access to Porfirio money.

Does not care at all what the ramifications of her actions will do her daughter MJ and her family.
 

Anon- Elena is by far the worst of the two mothers. Sure, Vicky was overindulgent and didn't take a firm enough hand (handicapped by her own guilt). But Elena abandoned not only MJ and Paula, but also Sandra by packing her off to Spain as soon as she had hubby #3 in the picture after hubby #2 died. Can you imagine how devastated Sandra must have been to have the only parent that truly loved her die (because from all accounts hubby #2 did love her and she thought he was her real father), and then get a stepfather like Dr. Demento? And probably to know that the only reason your mom wants you is for the money your grandfather provides? No wonder she turned to drugs and the wild life in Spain.

RaqHELL and Bruto have no excuse. They had one father who loved them dearly (even though they weren't his blood children). And when he died, they got a stepfather (who turned out to be their real father) who also loved them and gave them anything they wanted. They had a mom there whole time who also loved and indulged them, despite how they were concieved. Their only problem is that they were spoiled, but they got love from all sides.

Connie~~~Yes, ABSOLUTELY tape Amor Real. I realize that the dvd you purchased was so brief that many points of the plot were lost, but this novela is as good as Alborada and I liked it even better than Pasion. Great actors, scenery, costumes, and...numerous bath and love scenes...yes...numerous. Carla's whole theme for this novela was ''Bathtime Bliss.'' Thanks, dpd , for the great recap. I think that the purpose of that stupid scene of Al and EZ trying to bury the knife and subsequent arrest was to detain Al while MJ got into the spider's web...I mean, car. And...to give the viewers a view of Al's buns of steel in his supernaturally tight chinos while assuming the position . A big shoutout and thank you to Carla and Monica for that little gift on a cold winter night. Gee, how many ninjas did Dr. Dark need to subdue one very frail girl recovering frompregnancy and birth and long night's with Hot Al???.....weren't there about 6 or 7 guys? I hope that Roberto o o is there to save the day and NOT to get killed. I knew that Paula would develop a major crush on him. I see one as a bad mother, not giving them the help they needed. And the other as not a mother at all. Btw, didn't Sandra wind up going with the boyfriend and E. because he thought the kid was cute? Knowing Elaina now I think it safe to assume she would have left the sick crying child alone in the house and went. After all how much lip service has she given to Paula or MJ's new infant? Some life forms eat their young and maybe some just ignore them. On the issue of what caused Sandra to become addicted...I'm not willing to blame Elaine.

Vivi i giving this question lot of thought after posting it.Vicki is a mother who gave love.

One of the greatest gifts you can give to your children is discipline and boundaries showing them the difference between what's right and wrong and how to treat people too.

While Vicki's guilt had a hand in her actions it was her shame and ego that was also the blame too.

The way she kept asking and seeking assurances that she was a good mother. When the evidence suggested she wasn't.

The fact her ego could not take her peers looking down on her affair with Antonio while both were married to other people at the time.

Inexcusable how many years she put her reputation first before her children's well being, which now has had devastating results from her lack of action with her twins.

The envy that she showed when Pedro received the loved from his children,she so desperately wants from her very own.

Vicki is selfish i said this a lot and one of the reason i found it hard to care about her is her selfishness.

Now though she may she how Bruno really is will ever be able to cut ties with him. especially if she finds out he's behind the kidnapping of MJ.

As for Raqhell the best thing she can do for her is tough love which is well over due for the twins.
 

Now for Elena i said before i will say it again the this woman has the mothering skills of a jackal.

She's a coldhearted unfeeling monster no wonder Dr. Demented is her husband perfectly well matched.

To blithely plan the kidnapping of her own daughter that she coldly abandon when she was three. Now she needs her just to have access to the money her second husband's father has is repugnant.

I can't wait for her downfall, and i'm not sure what the bigamist laws are in Mexico but add that onto to the kidnapping charge.

I hope she never sees the light of day once she is caught.

Alex should've come clean about the knife instead of trying to bury it. Now he's in jail and MJ is in evil Jorge's clutches. In the previews, I guess Sandra or is it MJ is moved and Roberto sees it. Let's hope. I don't want this kidnapping story to drag out. I was also surprised that Maura was knocked out. I guess to make it look as though she had nothing to do with the kidnapping no doubt.
 

Fernando also facilitates her (Vickie's) denial of her responsibility in creating the monster twins. Fernando's need to worship at the feet of his goddess is another spin on irresponsible behavior. Even Vicie knows she can't help him with his sister but he denied that when she said so.

I also dread the thought that Sandra, the real one, pulls thru and MJ decides that she and Alex must do the magnanimous thing and take on Sandra along with all the other troubled millstones in their families!

I would have to agree that Elena was the worst. The things she did to her children were intentional and deliberate with malicious intent. I don't think Vicky was such a great mother either but the things she did were not malicious. She was just stumbling along as parents do sometimes.
 

Pedro deserves the father of the year award for telling his hijas that their madra was dead b/c she is a coldhearted B. Vick doesnt even compare to elana.

I really hated MJ being kidnapped and I hope Maura pays dearly for her part. I guessed she didnt figure that if Alex's wife left wtih her that she would be the one he blames. And she really thinks he will take her back.

I cant believe Alex is in jail for trying to save that sorry piece of S**t Raquel if I was him I would tell all and let her suffer for her own actions.

Vicky made serious mistakes, but at least, she was present in their lives and currently, she is working her tushie off trying to help reconcile Raqhell with her very tiny baby hospitalized with ALCOHOLIC WITHDRAWAL. (I have previously posted my thoughts on Raqhell!) I don't blame Elena for Sandra's addictions, but I do blame her for her detachment, callousness and self serving plans for MJ and total disinterest in Paula.

I'm confused, what program will replace Sorti? That Dinero thing looks like a "not ready for prime time" type of novela.

CONNIE - OT - I really enjoyed Amor Real. Adela Noriega spent a good bit of it crying, as usual, but honestly the characters are well developed and the actors on it are worth watching. There aren't many 'novelas that I'm "into" the way I was with AR. I loved Mauricio Islas in this, too. Record it for a week or two, and if you're not hooked by then, you can honestly say you tried.

Thanks Doris. I think I will. I felt like I got ripped off with the DVD because I'm sure there was so much left out.

Sandy ENDA is being moved to 7:00pm and Hasta is taking it's spot at 8:00 this a another novela i'll pass on.
 

MrsImgallego there was a write up of that in the recaps when CCEA was on and it was in the month of January.

I guess they didn't realize the growing popularity of novelas. It will be interesting to see starting next week what promos they will be advertising for the next two novelas.

Which one will they choose to replace Sorti for next month, and which one will they choose to replace ENDA in March.

I think one of them maybe Maite Perroni's new novela Mi Pecado, i can't began to guess about the other one.

mrsImgallego: Thank you for the link. According to that article "Fuego En La Sangre" was a hit in USA. I always thought it didn't work because of comentaries here but seeing the fate of Gancho right now I'm guessing it must have kept enough viewers to keep the 9 pm spot during its whole run.

Yes it was a hit in ratings but everytime you talked to someone about that novela they would trash it to no end. Weird but it seems like nobody could stop watching the trainwreck.

I was in my early 20's when my mother died and it was many many years ago. When I was about 17 she had a stroke and we thought she was drunk. It took us 3 days to figure that out. Sad.

I don't like this kidnapping thing at all. Then I start getting mad at Ale, as much as I love him, he played MJ by not telling her critical information, MJ overrules her arguments cause he has such a way, and , because he is so hot.... cute...SEXY.. we or at least I get caught up and forgive him also, but in the real world, well in a real relationship, you cannot go around giving mixed signals.

Many hours ago Anon asked us to opine on which mother was worse, Vicky or Elena. I think Elena wins, hands down.

Now Vicky is no prize in the mothering department, being narcissistic and basically incompetent. But I think she meant well and I do believe she loved her kids to the best of her weak ability.

Elena is simply an monster.
