En Nombre del Amor, March 4, 2010--Some Goodbyes and New Beginnings

Eugenio confronts Carlota about how she could have had his love and his help and now she’s going to end up alone.

Emiliano and Orlando are saying goodbye. Orly wants to stay away from Crazytown for awhile, but notes that this town gave him the most marvelous gift: he found Emiliano, his son, And, he found love, and settled some old debts from his past. Emil is sad about what happened with Camila, but Orly tells him not worry--before he didn’t have motivation to work, but now he has Emil as an heir and is comforted by the fact that one day he’ll be grandpa to Emil’s kids. Emil says “I love you very much, papa” and promises they will always be close and they hug.

Shot of the loser boozer guy taunting Xochitl with food while she’s still tied up in the flower cart.

Luz and Rafael ask two girls outside a marketplace if they know anything; someone named Tito told the girls that he saw the boozer eating and shopping nearby, so Rafa has them help search the market.

PJC blesses the business--apparently it’s in the same marketplace--of the couple formerly known as Gossip Guy and Wife, who again thank PJC for forgiving them. PJC reminds them that in the mass he said all is forgotten.

Luz spots the flower cart and sees a little pair of hands buried at the bottom. She stops the guy and pulls some of the flowers away to reveal Xochi, whereupon the boozer grabs Luz and threatens her with a knife. PJC is walking by and stops to tell the guy to let Luz go. Loser boozer tries to stab PJC but PJC swats him with his briefcase. Rafa, Paloma and Gabe come running.

Camila and Romina arrive home. The nurse mentions that Emil has been looking after the baby. If only he was the father of my baby, Romi laments. There is a flower arrangement there for Romi and Cami, from Rafa. Cami says Romi should thank him later; Romi slyly suggests that Cami do it for the two of them.

Rafa is amazed that PJC knocked the guy out--what did you hit him with? Well, with my briefcase, and this--he pulls out his bible—the hand of God.

Rufi visits Carlota (who repeats that she doesn’t want to see Rufi) to deliver the statue of the virgencita. Rufi acknowledges that she can’t take care of Carlota by force, so she thought maybe the virgencita can care for her. La Loca shoos her away. Rufi chatters on about how she can bring Carlota food in prison and she’s going to make her favorite dishes. Carlota yells again that she doesn’t want to see her. I know, Rufi says, but you are like a daughter to me, albeit one like Cain. Rufi talks about how parents don’t stop loving their kids even when they’re mad at them. Carlota rolls her now teary (I think?) eyes and cuts Rufi off with “you’re not my mother”. Rufi never wanted to be Carlota’s mother, but she swore to her that she would care for Carlota and Macarena. Rufi continues, telling Carlota “In spite of everything you have done, I know that I love you, so I’m going to be near you even if you don’t love me” (or "even if you don't want me to be close", I'm not exactly sure). Do I see a tear? Is the purple iceberg starting to melt?

The police take the boozer away and Rafa and Luz thank Cris for his help. Gabe comments that the guy is going to prison now and Xochi chimes in with “and I’m going with my mommy!”

Pal has magically teleported to Carlota’s hospital room. Before leaving the room, Rufi tries to give Carlota a blessing, but the Queen of Mean leans away. Anyway, Pal has come to demand an explanation for all the harm auntie has done.

At their apartment, Luz and Rafa bid each other goodbye--he asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want to stay the day, but she wants to get going on her trip. She asks Rafa to be Xochi’s godfather and he says "of course" and kisses the little girl goodbye. They wish each other the best with Luz thanking him and saying she doesn’t want to ever forget their time together. As she leaves she laments what couldn’t be.

Carlota refuses to explain anything, so Pal replies “then this will be the last time we’ll see each other”. From now on, her only family is her dad, Rufi and her grandma. Paloma isn’t afraid of Carlota anymore but Carlota insists that this isn’t over, saying “Don’t underestimate me.” Pal thinks Carlota is the one who underestimated *her*--you thought you could control me but you failed. Carlota claims she got what she wanted--which was for Pal to be left alone--because that little painter is going to kick the bucket any minute now. You attract bad luck and suffering, you put an end to everything that you love. Pal just shakes her head.

Orly visits Camila and they chat for a bit about Romi--he suggests that perhaps the accident and being so close to death has made Romi reconsider her life. But as to why he’s really there . . . he met with his lawyer and there are problems with the divorce, because the law won’t grant it until after a year of marriage. Cami thinks that can’t be when Emil & Romi just divorced after less than a year, but Orly says their case was different. Soooo, what’s going to happen with us? asks Cami. With a smile, Orly replies "Well, we stay married."

Back to Carlota and Pal, who’s not falling for Tia’s emotional blackmail. Pal notes that La Loca won many battles where innocent people died, but Good and Justice won the war. Carlota declares that she is not going to take things lying down while HER money is taken away from her. Pal tells Carlota that she will go to jail (even though she didn’t file charges against her) for killing Inaki and Mac and trying to kill Pal. Pal feels sorry for Carlota, which makes the crazy one yell at her to get out, cuz she don’t need nobody’s pity. Neither your God, nor your law, nor your justice is going to beat me. Carlota says they will meet again; Pal just shakes her head and leaves. Carlota hisses “Of course we will meet again” to the accompaniment of the bassos and the special light that shines on her eyes while leaving everything else dark.

Out in the waiting room with Gabe and Rufi, Pal says she told Tia everything that she had to say. Gabe then informs them that he’ll drop them off at the hotel, and then he has to go to Mexico City to get some paperwork. Hmm, that sounds made up to me. Anyway, he thinks he’ll be back the next morning.

More Cami and Orlando--he thinks that in the year they’ll have to wait, she’ll get over her anger and they can try to start over. Cami gives him the news flash that it’s not because of anger over him lying about Houston (and then sleeping with Angelica), she wants a divorce because she made a mistake and wants to fix it--what they had together is long gone. Orly whines “But a lot can happen in a year” blah blah blah, but Cami is positive that he is not the man with whom she wants to spend the rest of her life. She tried, but she doesn’t luuuurve him. Orly refuses to give up and wants to try to win her back.

Yvonne is helping Dr. B. to stand up for the first time since he was shot. He says he can hire someone to help him because he feels bad that she and Natalia have done so much for him. “Well, we’re friends, aren’t we?” she asks. “That’s what friends are for [cue Dionne Warwick], to be there in good times and bad.”

Cami tells Orly he has a right to continue deluding himself, but she has a right to not want to 1) see him and 2) prolong something that is inevitable. Orly agrees, to each his own, but then says that in the year they’re waiting for the divorce, neither one of them should see anybody else. Cami’s response is “no way, you’re not in any position to ask me to do anything”. She considers herself completely free now to do whatever she wants.

Padre Benito is on the phone with Obispo Calixto, who has informed him that he's coming to RdM the next day. PB and Padre Mateo wonder what’s going on--Calixto would only say that it had to do with PJC.

Luz has stopped by Camila’s on her way out of town for a chat about Rafa. Cami doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Yeah, you’re right, Luz agrees, I’m just so impulsive and you’re married and I completely forgot. She gets up to leave but Cami stops her and informs her that she and Orly aren’t together anymore. Luz waxes philosophical for awhile about how things happen just when they have to happen and explains that she and Rafa have ended their relationship. Although he loved me, he never loved me like he loved you. If you didn’t run away with him the day of your wedding, maybe you can do it now that you’re divorcing Orly. Cami is impactada.

Eugenio is upset with Gabe because he doesn’t understand why he has to leave; Gabe says he has to get papers for the wedding. Euge knows he’s lying, so Gabe confesses that he’s going to see the doctor. Euge asks Gabe to tell him what he’s hiding.

Paloma wants to give her ring (the one from Inaki) to Rufi so that Rufi will never forget everything she’s done for Pal; Rufi protests. Pal doesn’t want Rufi to have to work anymore, so in addition to the ring, she’s going to buy her a house and give her a pension. She loves Rufi with all her soul and is always going take care of her.

Carlota pretends to take her medicine, then spits the pill out behind the nurse’s back. She asks the nurse how much she earns and whether she’d like to earn 1 million pesos in one day. The nurse laughs and thinks that can only happen with the lottery. Carlota beckons her closer and says “if you help me get out of here, that lottery can be a reality.” The nurse doesn’t think that’s possible since there are guards outside. Carlota insults her for being small-minded but then urges her to think about it. Oh, and you better not tell anyone about my proposal because I’ll deny it.

Romi is washing her hands in the sink when the steam turns to flames--she has a flashback of her accident and starts to flip out, thinking she’s trapped in the bathroom. Cami comes running and tells her unlock the door. A sobbing Romi opens the door and Cami tries to calm her down.

Emiliano visits his dad for a guys’ night out. He breaks the news to Rafa that Cami isn’t going to Houston with Orlando because they are going to get divorced. Rafa smiles.

Romi is trying to read a magazine when the sound of a crying baby starts up. This drives her nuts and she yells for Cami to do something, make it stop. She runs into the nursery shouting “shut up!”, then grabs a pillow and nearly slams it down on the poor baby in his crib. She stops just in time and sees that he’s not crying at all. “Do you want your mama to hug you too?” she asks him. “I also want mine to hug me.” Romi then touches him and asks her baby for forgiveness. Cami listens in at the doorway. Romi knows she’s been really bad with him and promises that she’s going to be a good mother. Cami cries silently and thanks God for this miracle.

Pal and PJC are out at dinner--he wants to be her father officially and for her to have his name. They agree that Mac would have wanted this.

Eugenio and Gabe meet with the doctor, who looks very glum. The upshot is that his condition will to continue to worsen until one day his heart will just stop working. Euge and Gabe want to know how much time he has left--the doc thinks maybe one month.

The next morning, Romi cuddles her baby in bed. She doesn’t want to go with Cami to Monica’s wedding; she wants to stay home and take care of Bernardo. She took the medicine the psychiatrist prescribed and is feeling better. Then Cami puts a damper on things by informing Romi that German is in jail for fraud and bribery.

Emil is buying flowers for Romi when he runs into Liliana, whose response is Oh no, don’t get back with that witch. She thinks he and Pal can still get back together and hints that although Pal is marrying Gabe, it may not last long. Emil doesn't want to talk about that and instead tells Lili about Romi’s accident and about German being in jail--this news surprises Lili.

Romi and Cami talk about German while Romi changes the baby’s diaper. Romi admits that she was affected by the news of him being in jail. Cami asks what she feels for German, but Romi doesn’t know. She doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him, but she never imagined a life with him. Cami asks Romi if she’s going to see him and says “although I don’t like him for you, maybe he has changed, like you have.” She reminds Romi that German loves her and he’s the father of her baby.

Obispo Calixto meets with PJC while Padres Benito and Mateo nervously tell the bishop about their worry that he regrets PJC’s return to the church. OC assures them that it’s exactly the opposite--he has come to renew their offer for PJC to become a bishop. Cris reminds OC that he has a kid. OC tells PJC that’s not a problem, as there have been many bishops in the church’s history that had children before they were ordained. Cris is impactado.

Note for Novelera: Thank you so much for your offer to recap the finale--I will post a comments section some time Friday (and I think Gloria said she can help with the finale recap, so you might want to check with her).

Thanks Debbie for the great recap. Not a bad episode yesterday, I could have done without Orly's whole "you never know what could happen" baloney.Talk about don't let the door hit you on the way out. After Rafa has a few brewskies with Emi, I'm sure heading for a moving reconciliation scene with Camilla.

We're definitely getting plot wrap-ups and some build-up hints for bigger things to come, (Sorti writers take note -this is how you handle final story lines). The calm before the storm?

Firstly, can I just say...you don't mess with Padre Cris. That man of the cloth packs a mean wallop. Loved when he pulled the Bible out of the bag to show that that is what laid low the scumbag.

I have to laugh at La Loca. Delusional just doesn't sum her up.Trying to still bribe people (hello, you have no money)and threatening Pal. She is not going quietly.

But I have to say, as much as I love Rufi, I had problems with seeing her insisting she still wants to be there for la Loca. I mean Loca KILLED Mac & several others, almost tried to do the same to Pal. Rufi needs to go down for sainthood because that is forgiveness on a scale I'm not sure anyone else could do.

Romeme has been redeemed and now is heading down the path of goodness. I'm not sure we will see whether she and Germs get back together unless they do one of those "years later" scenarios at the very end. (Would be nice). Would like to at least see her visit him in jail and see what happens there.

Speaking of Germs, so little Miss Page Six didn't know about the accident and Germs in jail? Sloughing off on the job eh? Bet she'll be heading off to the jail and that will wrap her story line.

Are we seeing a possible Dr. B/Yvonne hookup like many speculated back a few episodes. He is such a cutie, he deserves someone. Will we see a verbal
smackdown between him and LaLoca?

I will be prepared with many boxes of kleenex tonight as I suspect we will see a Gabe/Cesar scene as they realize what the diagnosisans and Gabe will most likely make the decision to let Pal go. I started tearing up just seeing their faces in the doctor's office. ( Sebastian - take note). My son is home for spring break tonight and I already warned him that Mom may be a blithering, weepy idiot between 7:00 and 8:15 pm (give myself a chance to recover). I know those two will just kill if they give them the right writing.

I so don't want our RDM gang to go away. Not done drinking the water myself yet.

sorry about the some spellings. Having major problems with computer jumping my typing and I didn't catch them all...it's Friday!

Thanks for the recap Debbie. I too liked the 'Hand of God' reference. A la Diego Maradona of Argentina from the 1986 World Cup.

Did I hear Emiliano Chide Liliana the town gossip for not knowing the latest news? Rufi is indeed a saintly one, maybe more like Mother Theresa.

So Romina has finally and totally changed her outlook. I always thought there was goodness in her. She has a legitimate problem and was misunderstood.

I don't think Paloma should have gone to the hospital to 'demand an explanation'. from Carlota. Just don't see the point. On a side note, I can't help but admire Paloma's beautiful big eyes. Alomst reminds me of an anime character's.

Can someone please tag Connie's Croazon Slavaje recap. Thanks.

Thank you so much Debbie for all the wonderful recaps.

It was a very touching scene when Romina accepted her baby. And it looks like she is getting over her obsession with Emiliano. I can't believe how they go from things looking hopeless one day to great the very next episode. Though I doubt they just wrote smiles and flowers for the next three hours of the show. Someone usually dropped dead when they showed this funny light on LaLoca's face. I'm afraid it will be Gabriel. Especially that she said that she wants Pal alone.

Debbie, thanks for a great recap. I thought we were done with Orly yesterday, but here is again, pulling a Carloca and not giving up. Now though, hope he's done. Don't let the door hit you on your way. :)

Glad to see Romina (now with less ME) has come around. I hope she stays that way. Hard to change after so many years of bad habits. Looks now like she will be keeping Bernardo and perhaps a future with Germy when he gets out of the clink?

Carloca still not giving up. What are we going to have, Carloca zipping around in a wheel chair trying to off people? Dragging her purple oozing self around on the ground snapping at their ankles? Will she be able to walk and go on a proper rampage?

I have been disappointed in Camila, but she has come on strong here at the end. Glad to see that. I guess we are definitely heading to Cam and Rafa together here at the end. They'll just have to wait a year for the divorce to happen. I hope they can wait.

Glad they saved Xochi early in the show. Happy that is now done. If PJC decides he doesn't want to be bishop, he can get into the ring and do some fighting. :)

Jeff i was thinking the same about PJC remember how he knocked out the big ugly convict in prison.

Now i can officially retire the ME is Romina but the girl still needs serious therapy and no one gets cured like that overnight. Why the heck is Emoon still bringing her flowers just leave her alone for god sakes as much as she obsessed over you no need to encourage or let her think you have some romantic feelings for her.

I don't like how they wrote Rufi trying to get Carloca to understand that she loved her also sorry i'm not buying this part and no one is that saintly even believing in god like Rufi could forgive a serial killer like that.

Daisynjay i was laughing ntoo like what Liliana you didn't know the latest about Romina's accident or German being arrested for fraud and bribery? The girl better think of a new career i think.

Paloma you knew why auntie maim did everything there was no need for you to go to the hospital.

La Loca stil lying to the very end aren't we, and the expressions on her face were just priceless.I guess we will have to wait to see whether she will walk or not for the final three hours of ENDA.

I'm thinking if she does recover the feeling in her legs that Virgencita Rufi gave her will be used as a weapon. It was almost as big as Rufi herself.

Debbie thank you for all your hard work and wonderful recaps throughout ENDA i enjoyed reading them every Friday morning.

Jeff, I almost got clipped a few times by by old ladies riding those motorized scooters in the mall. :(

I can see Michael Buffer making the introduction: "The fighting priest from Real Del Monte,Mexico, Padre Juan 'The Hand of God' Cristobal". and the crowd goes wild with applause.

I'm fine with Romina's disposition now and i'm glad it happened. She can be a sweet and loving girl too.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia, that's right, motorized scooter. Forgot about those. Now if she can pick one of those up, definitely can be dangerous. I've always like Romina in the opening sequences. She has one of the most delightful smiles there, lights things up. She also looks so believable with the tears. And Michael Buffer, yep, I can see that.

Anon.. The Virgencita as a weapon, I suppose even Carloca would use that. Speeding around in her scooter swinging the Virgen left a right. Hmm, perhaps that's just not right to think about.

Agree with everyone, Lili definitely falling down on her job. Didn't know about either Romina or German. Slowing down.

Thought of a new ending. Carloca has another accident trying to do in the others. She becomes brain dead, sure she is already brain dead, but bear with me. Anyway, Carloca is brain dead. Closest surviving relative Paloma says to let her go in peace, but wait. They use Carloca's heart and transplant it into Gabe, hey take what you can get. Gabe marries Paloma and they live happily ever after. FIN.

I know. I can't believe Emiliano called her out as town gossip not being up to date with the news.

Oops, posted twice. Posted, refreshed, didn't find it anywhere and tried again. Worked and found it the first was there. Oh well. LOL

Kinda ironic that Carlota's heart will always be with them. ;)

Gabriel may not want to take her black heart but Eugenio would.

Ibarramedia

Perhaps Julie should do a mother of the year magazine cover for Carlota (she really is Aunt of the year)for the year 2009. Just like she did for Gabriela Acevedo vda. De Elizondo de Escandon from FELS.

I'm sorry ENDA is at an ENDA. Thank you to all the recappers and the community of watchers and commenters.

I'd like to propose our own ENDA Oscarcitos. Here are my nominees (and winners--my prerogative).

...and the Oscarcito goes to...the actresses who took on the most difficult role and made the character believable....

IMHO #1 goes to Altair Jarabo, aka Romina.

IMHO #2 goes to Leticia Calderon, aka Carlota.

Altair wouldn't have been right as Paloma, maybe Liliana, or Anamar, but her role as a schemer with a heart of brass (not gold, but the same color) must have been very difficult to portray. Kudos

Leticia had the ability to play a character of many layers from evil and deceptive to charming and certainly poised self-assurance hiding that deep insecurity she finally revealed at the end. (However, I think the writers through in that "I don't want to be alone" bit at the end to try to explain her evilness. I go with obsessive jealousy being a good enough reason.) I still try to wrap my head around Leticia as Macarena and Victoria as Carlota and I just can't see it AT ALL.

On the actor side, for no real reason other than I have come to love Arturo Peniche's depiction of his character's conflict between church/celibacy and love/marriage, I give him my Oscarcito.

Regrettably, I never saw Inaki, but I like his looks in the credits, but the actor I finally came to appreciate best is Erick Elias and his Gabriel (except for not keeping his medicine in his pocket). So, I give him my other Oscarcito.

Just awesome recap Debbie, it is always like watching the show again but with a more interesting spin. All the re-capers are incredibly talented and thank you all for making these shows come to life for all the non- Spanish speakers who watch them.Everyday, I sit behind my computer with my herbal tea and just soak it all in.I only hope Televisa and univision value all of you as much as we do.Thank you all once again.
Hanna,Md

Ibarramedia.. Yes, I thinking Eugenio may like that, too. :) For me, I guess that has been one of my questions, why has there been no talk of a potential heart transplant for Gabe?

Newbie in MD.. Good choices. I'd also have trouble seeing Leticia and Victoria switching places. They say Leticia had been playing 'good' roles. I'll definitely have trouble wrapping my head around her playing the good role if I ever see any of those. The good actors can make you believe. We saw Destilando Amor and saw Gaviota, Angelica Rivera. After that, we watched Mariana de la Noche where Angelica had a decidedly different, evil, nasty role. If we would have saw that first, it would have been a much different vibe about Gaviota when we started watching Destilando. :)

Another vote for Emil being an idiot for bringing Romena a bunch of flowers. Why even give her the hint that there is a future for them.

Lily will risk breaking a leg to get to jail to see German and to fill him in on Romena's accident. Obviously Real del Monte doesn't have a local newspaper and information must be passed along by the gossip brigade.

Over estimated Orly accepting that the marriage is over. There he is still thinking that after a year he and Cam can get back to together. Never giving up must run in the family.

The look on Rafa's face when Gossip #2 Emil told him the marriage was over was hilarious. I actually expected him to jump up and click his heels together before rushing over to see Camila and claim his spot at the top of her list.

Romena's conversion seemed a little too pat but then again time is running out and she had to die or be redeemed. And discovering you might have killed your own child might actually get through her self absorption, in any event it was nicely done. Am i the only one who thought it was hilarious that when she was changing the diaper, that little blur bubble shows up so we can't see the baby's privates. They only seem to have started doing that recently in novelaland. Then there was Camila just standing around holding the used diaper while chatting idly. .

Loved Paloma standing up to Evil One and telling her she isn't afraid of her. She has learned to stand up for herself and I hope didn't buy into the everyone near you dies rant. Sainthood for Rufi coming up.

As for the acting on this novela - superlative in some cases good in other and a few learning the craft. For the young ones working with Arturo,Letty and Cesar is a master class in the art of acting. There is no overstating how brilliant these three are and always are.

Alfredo, Victor, David, Magda and Laura are old pros who bring a level of experience and professionalism to their work.

Altair I fear is doomed to be constantly cast in the same kind of part the ones that used to be played by people like Karla Alvarez and Chantal Andere. This is the third time i've seen her in a similar part.

As for the guys Sebastian is going to be pushed into the galan role for a few years as competition for the other pretty boys out there who are a few year older than he is. The other young men are probably going to have a bigger range of roles available to them, good guys, BFF's and German types.

As for Allisson she is a much admired child star transitioning into adult roles. Because of her age she is likely to be kept in the sniffling ingenue parts for a few more years but she has range and it will be interesting to see what kind of choices she makes. I suspect we are going to see all of the young set around for a long time which is a really good thing.

Jeff,

If you want to see Letty in one of her perennial saccharine good girl roles get a hold of a tape of Esmerelda. She is a talented actress and she was excellent in it and as a bonus there are some other fine performances as well. She has never played anything close to Carloca and was a revelation in how chilling she was. It might have been interesting to see Victoria Ruffo take on her first evil role but it would likely have made this a very different experience and the casting of Alisson as Letty's daughter wouldn't have seem as right as casting her opposite the darker Vicki. One of the casting coups of this show was how much children looked enough like the actors playing their parents to make it seem real.

Jeff- If you want to see Lety in a true goody-goody role, you can dvr/tape Esmeralda, a novela of hers from the 90s, which is on Telefutura at 11am each day right now. She's the heroine, who was blind but now isn't, and Fernando C. is the galan (who is being very stupid and stubborn). I first saw this novela when I was in college when it was on tv. My Spanish teacher suggested that we watch it. One of our assignments was to write a mini script for, and then act out in front of the class, a telenovela. Very fun assignment and we all hammed it up. Esmeralda was our inspiration. I had totally forgotten that that was Lety until I was well into watching ENDA and was home sick and caught Esmeralda. I could not believe it was the same actress. Funny though, I did remember that heroine years later and remembered how beautiful the actress was. But I did not remember FC at all! He made no impression on me. He has obviously gotten better with age, or my taste in men has changed since college. :)

Deciegirl- We were thinking the same thing. Lol!

Seeing the comment on Anamar got me thinking...did we ever determine what the heck her character was introduced for. I've yet to see her do anything pivotal to the plot. (And that means Romina - she was already jealous of everyone.) Maybe the actress knows the producer :)

Debbie, thanks for another great recap.

JeffMN, I loved your suggestion that they transplant Carlota's heart into Gabe, enabling Paloma and him to live Happily Ever After.

I guess I just come from a different tradition or have a character defect, or both, but I don't see anything admirable in Rufi's continuing to love Carlota, who has been hateful to her for many years and has killed so many good people, including Macarena.

Decie and Vivi.. Thanks for the Esmeralda recommendation. Bummer, we only get Univision, no Telefutura. I'll have to look for it. Interesting you both hit on the same show. :)
Vivi.. FC made no impression, wow. Things do change.. for the better I'm sure. ;)

Daisynjay, I guess Anamar was there to give Emoon someone to talk to and to show what a ladies man he is.. even outside the realm of the crazy folks of unRealDM.

Vivi,

Esmerelda was Letty at her most sweet and Colunga at his most wooden. There was also that great death scene (won't mention who is in it and spoil it) I read when they filmed it the entire crew ended up in tears and it takes a lot to do that.

Jeff

If you haven't already seen it check you might want to check out Alborada. Several of our ENDA actors are in it but especially look at Arturo Peniche in what has to have been the worst wig in history but his performance as a man sexually abused by his uncle is spectacular. And while some of the acting isn't up to the standards we have here the story is beautifully filmed and I don't remember the sound problems that tend to plague most Mexican novelas.

Debbie, this was a marvelous recap. I loved your insight and comments and for so nicely conveying all the many emotions and turmoil abounding last night.

Except for the murders and their aftermath, I thought this was one of the most emotional episodes to date. Yes, I also thought Carlota was definitely teary eyed about Rufi's unwavering (and astonishing) loyalty. Besides Paloma and Eugenio, Rufi is the only person who loved her and is the only one who still does.

Romina's vulnerability was very touching. Thank you for translating her dialog with Bernardo. Romina has always loved Camila although she often didn't act as if she did. Needing her mother's love is what's sustained her and the understanding that Bernardo needs from her and am happy she and Bernardo will be together. It would be nice to see them with German as a family.

The comments today were great. Jeff, I really laughed at your transplant idea - inspiring!

Decie girl, you are so right in that the casting choices for mothers and their children were perfect.

Anon, Carlota might very well use the statue as a weapon!

Vivi, I only saw 1 or 2 episodes of Esmereralda (when I was sick recently) and it's almost unbelievable this is the same actress. I think she's just as beautiful now as then.

Can't wait to see the cast on Cristina...

Diana

Debbie – another one of your beautifully-written recaps. I’m going to miss your wonderful work – your stuff just flows. Are you going to be on another novela, or are you sitting this next stint out?

Hanna and Newbie, both from MD – welcome! I don’t recall either of you commenting before. Keep it up!

Lots of terrific comments today!

Deciegirl – Too bad about Altair getting these kinds of parts. I think she would be splendid in a comedy. My dream team, as I mentioned before, would be her and Jaime Camil.

Paloma is offering Rufi a house, but I’m thinking that Rufi wouldn’t enjoy living alone, what she’d like best is to be cooking up dinners for Paloma and Gabriel.

Speaking of Gabriel, his heart condition is interesting. We first saw him sprinting up the stairs of the church tower to rescue Paloma. And now he is in the end stages of heart disease, but seems to be able to walk around, to travel, to come and go as he pleases.

Juanita ITA with you about Rufi that was a Que the Heck moment for me.

As for Anamar i will chalk her character up as being a lesson for young women her age showing that even if you dress like a street walker you won't always get the man you desire so much.

I don't know if you guys watched Mujeres Asesinas last night but Edith Gonzalez was chilling in her role. It was like i was watching Carloca at 10:00pm.

Leticia also played the good girl in Yo Compro esa Mujer with Eduardo Yanez.

Yes i found it hard to believe that they were trying to give Carloca's role to Victoria Ruffo instead, but thank goodness everyone winded up in the roles that fitted each of them to almost perfection.

I think someone mentioned last month that Altair Jarabo next novela she will be the main female lead so i will wait to see about her next novela and i read she will also be in Mi Pecado.Another thing i loved about Altair acting as Romina she was never over acting her role nor was she ever over the top that it was hard to watch her scenes without hitting the mute button.

The great thing about Altair i believe she is only 24 or 25 years old maybe even younger than that i'm looking forward to her future works.

After seeing Chantal Andere in Sortilegio and her over acting let's just say i'm going to try to avoid her novelas in the future.

The reason why i jump on the Virgencita statue being used as a weapon it's the second time they showed us Rufi trying to give it to her it was like they were making a point with the statue. Like they did with MJ's scar from her stabbing on Sortilegio but we will see what happens in our last three hours.

I think that nurse is going to help her though too bad she might let her greed get in the way of helping out a serial killer.

Yesterday’s comments about the actors, the writing and the production were fascinating. Here’s some more thoughts:

I thought Samuel was grossly miscast. He needed to be very good looking, sauve and smooth. How on earth could Camila have been in love with the low-life we saw? They cast somebody who had more of a gangster look, and his behavior was very boorish.

The writers really fell down on the job when they gave us Eugenio 2.0. He had been a wonderful character, who supposedly had x-ray vision when it came to people’s inner selves, and then we were to swallow that he had fallen in love with Carlota, and that he would send Paloma alone to see her.

Maggie, there are guys like Eugenio 2.0. Just interesting tastes in woman I guess.

Wasn't Samuel somewhat respectable as a business man in the first 2 episodes? When he came back into Camila's and Romina's lives, he was a total scumbag.

Debbie, thanks for the recap. It was thorough, insightful, and entertaining, as your recaps always are. I'm sad you won't be recapping Mi Pecado but I hope you'll join the team on another show one of these days.

Maggie, I see your point about Samuel. He's gross and his...appeal?...certainly eludes me. I'm not sure it's unrealistic that Camila and Diana would have gone for him, though. He may have been more charming when Camila married him. She was certainly over him by the time we met them, but maybe faked decency better at some point. Diana just wasn't taking a close look. She was flattered by the attention and starry-eyed about the prospect of money.

It's gross, but realistic, I think. I know I've seen friends fall for some guy I thought screamed "slimy shyster" in big neon letters...they just didn't interpret evidence the same way.

I hope that nurse isn't dumb enough to try to help Carlota. She seems smart, but will she be seduced by money? Could she really think she wouldn't get caught?

I had completely forgot about Samuel i see your point but I agree with Julia who knows what others see in a individual that they have fallen in love with even if they don't look very attractive to us.I thought the actor playing him did a very good job.

Maggie you're right about how Eugenio was written i mean the writers should at least given us more of a buildup to him for falling for her then i would have bought it. It seem like they way they wrote it magically over night now he is in love with Carloca.

Another reason Diana hooked up with Samuel was to get back at Camila for what she thought was stealing her husband. So she thought from her POV she was paying her back by not only sleeping with Samuel but she thought she was going to marry him too.

Maggie i needed a full week to think about your question from Monday's recap who was my favorite character in this novela.

Carloca yes she was the main villain and it drove me absolutely nuts with all she had done and almost gotten away with. I so enjoyed Leticia acting as La Loca i just chuckle at her too see what she is going to do or say next this performance by her has been pure enjoyment for me at least.

My second has to be Romina by Altair once again her superb acting as the second villain in this novela outshine her co-stars in her storyline.

Third and fourth for me was PJC and Eugenio both rocked their roles in this i would leave room at all when they were both on the screen. I was mesmerized and riveted by their performances.

Then German a very flawed character at war with himself trying to good but tempted by temptation. Love the role and the actor.

These have been my favorite characters of ENDA.

anon - your comments are really fun and interesting!

Here's another one - who's your telenovio? For me, It's Dr B, but if were younger, it would be Gabe, with Inaki a close second..

Maggie are you asking just for this novela then i would say Gabriel good heart and a man who knows how to live and enjoy life to the fullest and is not at all tempted by the likes of Romina whether she is butt naked or not.

Inaki a close second like someone said at the time he has the appeal of a Tom Hanks very engaging.

No way for the Emoon i don't want some love struck stalker who is married to my former friend bothering me 24/7 can we say restraining order here.

Thank you Maggie and Julia--I really appreciate your kind words, as I think you both are terrific writers and I love reading your recaps. Unfortunately I can't make the time commitment required by recapping right now, but maybe some time in the future I can take it up again. I don't plan to watch Mi Pecado but will definitely stop by to check out your recaps!

Anon 3:11.. speaking on Mujeres Asesinas, that is the only other time I saw Leticia. We watched the first one for the first season that starred her. She was chilling in that role. After that, didn't have any problem seeing her as Carlota in ENDA! After watching that MA episode, my wife did not care for it and we did not watch any more MA or MA2. :) Haven't gotten around to it, but will have to read the MA2 recaps one of these days.

I wonder what kind of role Altair has in Mi Pecado. I haven't seen her in any of the commercial clips, so don't think it is too big of a role. It will be good to see her in a lead role. Is it a good or villain lead role?

I think there was buildup for Eugenio falling for Carlota. He was smitten with her from the first time he saw her at the art show. The problem for me is Eugenio still thinking she has any goodness after knowing all she had done.

Jeff i saw Leticia in that role too but most of the women on MA and MA2 are fierce so it's one of the best shows on TV IMO.

Yes i remember how taken Eugenio was with Carloca when they first met still not much how a buildup for me at least to believe he fell for her because he already suspected what a liar she was from her actions during PJC and Natalia's trial. Then he saw on different occasions her outright nastiness with Paloma. Sorry they should have showed them going out more or getting together more not because of the trial because he was interested in getting to know her.

Maggie, I maybe too old, but I "heart" Gabe. He's artsy, which I love, his spirit in the face of such a sentence in life, his gentleness...

I would follow with the men closer to my own age Eugenio and Dr. B. Going to miss out RDM men.

Eugenio wanted a challenge and Carlota was very reclusive and mysterious.

Yes, Leticia was scary, scary, scary in the very first Mujeres Asesinas shown here in the US. I also was fully prepared for her evilness as Carlota by seeing that episode. I had never seen her in any good character roles. I did tune in to one of the Esmeralda episodes currently running. It seemed a bit cartoonish and overacted, but then I only saw one episode. I think it was well received when it first ran.

It's true that Fernando Colunga has come a long way. In some of his earlier roles, he's just a bland, handsome guy - textbook galan with no edge to him. Boy, has he ever grown!

I will SO miss this telenovela. I just started late last fall watching 3 programs (El Gancho moved on me, Sorti ended, and this, my favorite has to stop...darn!)

I don't like CS so will try Mi Pecado. I may buy a tape/DVD (any suggestions?) of an old true classic to continue my evening "Spanish lesson".

tm

tm.. have you tried Hasta..Dinero? If you were watching Gancho, perhaps you may like it. A comedy, fun little show. Getting better all the time. The two leads are wonderful together. I'll definitely be checking out Mi Pecado. Looks like it will be somewhat dark, not unlike how ENDA seemed at the beginning. Still trying to get into CS. Not quite grabbing me yet. It has its moments. Over the top acting. :)
