En Nombre del Amor, March 7, 2010--Finale

For the recap and discussion of the ENDA finale.

Comments:
Romina arrives at the hotel room where Paloma is being helped to dress for the wedding by Madelaine and Rufi. She says she tried to tell her the day of the despedida de soltera (batchelorette party) something important but Paloma wouldn’t let her. Now she says she won’t permit Paloma to marry Gabriel without hearing her out. “Paloma, between Emiliano and I there never was anything.” When Paloma asks what she means, she tells her, “We never made love; it was all a trap I set.” And we see a flashback of Ro sneaking into Em’s room where he’s passed out. “Paloma, this is why he can’t remember anything. Nothing happened. I know I should have told you before. Emiliano only loves you.” Paloma thanks her for this, but she’s going to marry Gabe anyway.

Rufi, Madelaine and Abraham are in the hotel lobby with Emiliano when Paloma appears in her wedding dress and veil. This has a predictable effect on Em. They tell each other goodbye. Em’s cell rings and he speaks to someone: “Who? I don’t understand. Right now? Where?"

Eugenio asks Gabe if he’s sure. With a beautiful smile, Gabriel says: “Yes. Let’s go. Today there will be a wedding!”

In Houston Orly has picked up Angelica from the airport. When he asks her how the audience went, she says it went well and that she thinks she may be able to get her book back. She asks how the search for a replacement is going and he tells her ninguna te llega a los talones. None of them could even reach your heels. You’re irreplaceable. Ange thought bubbles that if only he knew how she missed him. If there were the smallest chance, she’d stay.

Cris greets Rodolfo, Natalia, Ivonne and Sagraria outside the church. They are all happy Carloca will pay for her crimes. Natalia is wearing a truly ugly dress with an awful purple plume in her hair. Everyone arrives at the church: Camila, Rafa and Ro. Cris gives Ro a big hug.

The doctor tells Carloca he’ll do one last test to rule out physical damage, but you’ll go to prison in a wheelchair. The doctor and nurse leave. Carlota swings her feet out of bed. “Estupidos! As if. I'm never going to end up in a cell." She’s on her feet. The nurse comes in and sees her.

Cris walks Paloma down the aisle of the beautiful church. Gabriel awaits. Paloma looks gorgeous. He tells her he loves her with all his heart. Because of her he discovered real love. He kisses her and tells her this is their last kiss because he’s not going to marry her.

Paloma is stunned. “I don’t doubt you care for me; but this is not love. I want you to be happy, and I couldn’t give you a better wedding present than to give you to the man your heart always chose.” Em walks down the aisle. All are impactadisimos. Gabe tells Pal he wants to speak with her alone.

Carlota tries to convince the nurse to help her for big bucks. The nurse accuses her of fooling them. She tells La Loca that she’s a killer and why would she trust her? She says she’s going to call the guards. Carlota pushes her on the bed and then hits her on the back of the head with a big water bottle.

Anamar whines to a friend that Em is going to marry Paloma and that she’s lost him. The friend tells her you can’t lose what you never had.

Em speaks to Rafa about the great admiration he has for Gabriel (about time, I’d say!). Now he understands why they got along so well.

Gabriel asks Paloma “Haven’t you imagined yourself marrying Emiliano a thousand times?” He tells her she’s the love of his life – the one he could have shared the rest of his life with except that he no longer has a life to offer her. He tells her he only has a month to live.

Carlota has the nurse in the blue gown and herself in the nurse’s uniform. She doesn’t break a sweat when another nurse enters. She answers her with her back turned, as if she were Aida.

Paloma tries desperately to say that maybe the doctors made a mistake as they did in his adolescence. He tells her he never wanted her to watch him suffer and die. He asks her if she loves Emiliano. Of course she says yes. “Then give me the gift of seeing you happy. Nothing would make me happier than dying in your arms if there were no suffering for you to see. I must have done something good in my life to deserve you, to experience love.” Gabriel tells Emiliano to go to Paloma and talk to her.

Carlota comes out of the room with a Swine Flu mask on her face. Funny how that slender nurse’s uniform fits her perfectly!

Orly and Ange talk in a bar. He says he just got off the phone with Emiliano who told him Camila and Rafael are going to Spain. (Que? Emiliano is in the middle of finding out whether he’s the groom or the goat, and he calls his second papa to tell him the latest gossip?) Orly tells her he’s not surprised, and that there’s no worse fool than he who dreams of the impossible. Orly asks Ange not to go back to Mexico. He still has feelings for Camila, but maybe things can work out for them. Ange grins and tells him: “Let’s start by going salsa dancing!”

Liliana speaks to Ro in the church, telling her that German really loves her, and that sometimes you have to hit bottom before things get better. These two finally make up!

The doctor finds Aida unconscious and, rather than see if she’s got a concussion or anything, runs out to alert the guards about Carloca.

Paloma and Cris have a wonderful scene. He gives her a rundown on both guys. She’s known Em the longest and he’s honest and true. Gabe has a heart of gold, and he’s shown you how to know yourself better. But his days are numbered. He tells her he wants to see her happy. There are 3 paths: Choose Emiliano, Choose Gabriel, or remain alone. He tells her to imagine that this were her very last day. What would she do then? Forget the past; the future is always uncertain; and all we have is the present.

Carlota escapes just as the police arrive. She goes home to her house with all the furniture covered up. She ransacks her desk but cannot find Iñaki’s ring. (Yeah, Rufi!). She finds some US bucks in a box behind some books.

Paloma walks down the aisle again with Cris. She accepts a rose from some male hand and thanks him for letting her be happy. Gabe, of course. She’s at the altar with Emiliano. They’ve now given Gabriel a nice greenish tinge to his face as he goes back to a seat.

Eugenio says that he’s not much of a believer, but he prays his son won’t suffer. Camila asks Ro how she feels seeing Emiliano marry someone else. Ro admits it hurts. She says she really did love him, but they deserve to be together. Rufi thinks that Macarena arranged it all from heaven.

Carlota gets into a cab just as all the police cars roll up to her house. She’s got on a black coat and that embroidered doily. She looks kind of like an English judge. She thought bubbles that the stupid cops won’t catch her.

Peniche marries Paloma and Emiliano in a beautiful ceremony. He has the best speaking voice. He speaks to them of unconditional love, alluding to Gabriel’s love. He asks for the rings. Now this is weird. Camila and Romina bring the rings. Really? Romina? Rufi helps put the traditional lasso on the couple. Emiliano puts something in Paloma's hand. Coins? Anyone know about this tradition?

Carloca grouses at the cabbie. She finally jumps out without paying him.

Everyone is outside the church congratulating the newlyweds. Rufi and Paloma both say they felt Macarena’s presence in the church.

Maggie’s bassos come on strong. La loca is crouching behind some flowers. She runs out saying “Did you really think you were going to be happy, Paloma? And you, Cris, did you think I would leave you in peace? My vengeance isn’t over yet.” She pulls out what looks like a bigger pistol than the one she used on Rodolfo and fires. Gabriel jumps in front of Paloma and is shot in the chest several times. Carlota grimaces with frustration and runs into the church.

Gabriel has a death scene worthy of an Italian opera. He tells Paloma that his desire was to die in her arms. He thought he would suffer, but all he feels is warmth in his chest. He tells Emiliano he knows she will be cared for. Paloma and Eugenio are sobbing uncontrollably. He tells his father to remake his life and dies.

Carlota is furious. She rages, “Idiot! Cheap painter! Paloma should be dead!”

Romina leans against her mother and is very ashamed of having allied herself with Carlota. Paloma asks why Carlota hates her so.

Cris, Cris! What possesses you to run into a church after a crazy woman with a huge gun in her hand? Let the cops chase her, for Pete’s sake!

Meanwhile Carlota is running over the rooftops like Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief. She gets to the very top and peers over at the wedding party below. She curses Paloma: “Maldita! You are a child of sin, the child of the love between Cristobal and Macarena. For this you aren’t going to stay alive.” Just as she’s about to fire, Cris grabs her arm. She screams for him to let her go. She wants to kill Paloma and then Cris. She asks him if he realizes what his lack of love for her caused. She said that all she did was love him. “We could have been so happy. I ought to have given you a daughter, not Macarena. I don’t repent anything!” We hear a shot. Carlota says, “In the name of love I tell you, we’ll see each other in the next life!” She drops off the building, but he grabs her. “Let me save you, Carlota.” She tells him she loves him, then lets go and drops down (it defies gravity how long it takes her) to the courtyard.

We now see the ordination of Cris as a bishop. He prostrates himself before the altar, takes communion, and then is vested by the bishop with a white robe. He is given the miter (bishop’s hat) and crosier (bishop’s staff) and walks toward Paloma, Rufi, Emiliano and Madelaine in the front row. They are all so happy for him and Madelaine is very proud.

In DF, Eugenio is with Luz and has Xochitl on his lap. He’s glad his son didn’t suffer. Luz says a really true thing – that she never saw a relationship as wonderful as Eugenio’s and Gabriel’s. Eugenio says he’s going to start a foundation in the name of his son for poor children, like Xochitl.

Romina gets a call and goes to the park with the nurse and Bernardo.

Someone comes around a corner in a wheelchair. The bassos intone. Whaddya know! Our favorite purple villain survived the fall. Rufi has brought her flowers. But she gets in a dig. Rufi tells her she pretended to be paralyzed and God sent her what she asked for. Rufi tells her she got cadena perpetua, a life sentence. Carloca, sweet to the end, rejects Rufi.

It turns out German is in the park (we knew that!). He’s out on parole. They play a great song about someone seeing someone dancing in the rain.

Rafa and Camila decide not to live in either house, but to live together in a new one.

German tells Ro he’s learned his lesson. He wants to be a good father. She tells him that with therapy she’s learning to be a good mother also. He says he can’t practice law anymore, but his father is helping him start a business. Ro asks if he wants to be with her for the baby. (Come on, Romina! This guy has told you 50,000 times he loves you!). He tells her of course not – he wants to be with her.

Another slow progression by wheelchair and Carlota sees Eugenio in the visitor’s room. She sarcastically tells him that maybe she did his son a favor, giving him a better death. He tells her he wants justice and that he’s personally going to see to it that she never gets out. She’s still the Queen of Denial, of course, and smirks at him that of course she’ll get out. She’s going to fight. Eugenio tells her that her punishment is appropriate: loneliness, losing her freedom, inability to get what she wants and, above all, the repudiation of everyone who has ever known her. We can tell he got to her by the way her hands grip the wheels on the chair.

German promises Romina she’ll laugh again. There’s an absolutely charming flashback of when he saw her walking by in the rain and was instantly smitten. He grabs someone’s umbrella to put over her, breaks it, and they laugh and laugh. Romina kisses German sweetly then goes to get their baby.

Carlota goes out to the basketball court (Que?) in her wheelchair. She is surrounded by the other prisoners who taunt her and call her señorita. They turn her around and around and then put her wheelchair on its side. She’s screaming for help and there’s no one around.

Emiliano and Paloma are in the square, each dressed in white. They jokingly re-enact the earlier scene when Emiliano shouted that he loved her at the top of his lungs. They both shout this many times, then kiss.

FIN

Novelera, thank you for this final recap and thanks to all the recappers for their hard work. It's hard to realize we are saying goodbye to our RDM'ers. With only a few WTH moments for me, overall last night's episode was satisfying tying up pretty much most characters and plots. (Exception for me was Dr. B - wish we could have seen him hooked up with someone.)

I could have done without Angelique and Orly and Anamar ( a real WTH moment. I swear, she must know the producer.)

Tonight of course was all about the idea of true love winning over evil. But if I walked away convinced of anything it was that if people needed to see what real love looked like, it was the selfless love of Gabe and as
a parent, that of Eugenio.
Erick Elias was awesome in the whole scenario from giving Pal over to Emi to dying in Pal's arms as he wished(well, technically in Em's arms- but we won't quibble.) Hands down he went to the top of the list for me on this TN. And the writers gave him some wonderful dialogue.
( N: I noticed the green too and wondered WTH - but then I noticed in one scene talking to Pal after the ceremony half his face looked green, the other ok. I think he was the victim of "stain glass disease".)

Watching Cesar and his interaction with his son from caring over what he was doing with Pal, to weeping over him, again... young 'uns got a class from these two in Acting 102.I will be going through some serious withdrawal over these two.

La Loca remained deranged to the end and I guess her ultimate fear became her punishment as Eugenio pointed out - totally alone and abandoned, even by Rufi (finally). Not sure that was really good enough of a final punishment, but we'll take it.

I thought, outside of Gabe's scenes, the next best scenes last night were with Germs and Romina. It was sweet and funny and romantic. I could have ended the show right there for me.

so deep sigh, it's over. I may hit You Tube and rewatch Gabe's big scenes a few more times and Germs/Romina, truly worth watching again. Tonight on to Mi Pecado. It has have a very tough act to follow.

A grateful thank you to Anon and to you Novelera for the excellent recaps for Friday's and last night's episodes.

Novelera, your translating important conversations is greatly appreciated. Your summary was beautifully written and seemed to flow effortlessly.

I thought Paloma looked absolutely beautiful. In their last scene together, she and Emiliano looked so happy - what a relief for both actors to finally escape their emotional crying and "mooning" personnas.

If only Gabe didn't have to die...What a kind and generous soul. My heart broke for Eugenio and for everyone who loved him.

As lovely as the wedding was (well at least until the shooting), I thought the Romina and German story was the most touching. They found redemption, forgiveness and thankfully, each other. Their lovely, understated performances were perfect. We felt for them and forgave them, wishing them all future happiness with little Bernardo. I would love to see these 2 paired up again.

daisy, it seemed to me that Ivonne and Dr. B will end up together, as will Luz and Eugenio.

I really loved this show and will miss it. Thank you to all of the recappers for a stellar job these many months. The comments have been so enjoyable as well.

Thank you to Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie, Anon and Novelera. I really appreciate your time and talent in recapping this TN. This is without a doubt my favorite of all time and worthy of awards. The acting and actors, scenes, etc. were all first rate.

Carloca must be made of steel. She takes two (2) tumbles and only end up in a wheelchair!

Who would have know that nurse's uniforms come in one size fits all.

I agree that could have left out a lot of Anamar, Angie, Orly. They were not worthy of air time. Gabe and Eugenio were my all time favorites.

Again thanks for the hard work and laughs and insights provided by all.

rsk

Novelera- Superb recap. You really captured it all. And I agree will all of your, and Daisy's, comments. Noticed the green tint too on Gabe. Lol!

That was really a marvelous finale. They tied up most of the stories nicely, even giving us a mini truce between Romina and Lili. As determined as those two are, if they ever teamed up, there would be no stopping them (neither one of them seems to have a job, maybe they should start a biz together). I liked how gently Lili told her friend that Gabe had another destiny when her friend thought that now she would have a chance with him, instead of blurting out he's about to kick the bucket.

Another little detail I noticed in one of the tender scenes you mentioned was in the flashback to when German and Romina first met in the rain. Once they tossed aside the umbrella and she shared her music with him (her ipod was attached to her shirt), he tries to close up her top/shirt. That little thing showed me that it wasn't just sexual attraction that first drew him to her. He had tender feelings for her from the start, and would have been just as gentle with her as Pal's galans were with her. But the sex was all that Romina was offering him and he just took whatever crumbs he could get from her in his quest to eventually win her love.

I have no clue what the whole Anamar thing was. I think you guys are right, she must know someone high up. :) I guess thinking he had moved on to someone else after he broke up with Romina allowed Pal to continue with her relationship with Gabe without too much anguish about Em.

The only storyline end that I have a problem with is Angie and Oily (he's the only one aside from La Loca that still deserves their mean nickname at the end). He never learned his lesson. He just moved on to Angie because Camilla wasn't an option anymore, not because he learned what he did wrong with Camilla and repented or because he really fell in love with Angie. Sure, he's always been attracted to her, but that's not enough. Meanwhile, Angie has made progress in her life. She wrote a book, conquered her feelings for Dario, made peace with and united with her friend that had also been fleeced by Dario, and fought Dario face to face and in court- something she never thought she was brave enough to do. And, she basically single-handedly ran the plateria business and helped start it up in the US while Oily and Em were too busy with their personal problems (like she didn't have any of her own). She was always honest and faced up to and admitted the mistakes she made. She does not deserve a life of Oily. They should have let her walk off alone, into the sunset, with her new biz skills, and her published book.

Loved the final scene, but hated Pal's outfit! Did they raid the closet of a middle agaed woman for that one? You couldn't get more frumpy than that one. Couldn't they find a pretty, white long summer dress and some strappy sandals (instead of those granny flats- no insult to grannies out there)? The wardrobe people really did not know what to do with Pal. They got the wedding dress right. She looked beautiful, sweet and a little sexy. With those eyes, high cheekbones, her height, and those curves she is developing, Alison is really starting to look more and more like the feme fatale type, than the usually more delicate goody-goody heroine.

Let me add my thanks for all the wonderful recaperss, Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Deb, Anonymous and Novelera.

Most of the time I didn't watch this (and missed the grande finale as well) but appreciated the recaps and the skill and humor with which you all did them.

Writing is an art, and I applaud your talent and the time you took. Muchas gracias.

Mi Pecado sounds like another I will miss viewing, but I'm sure I'll be drawn into the recaps, because I love the way you all write.

I have figured out the white lace stole that Carlotta always wore when she wished to commit an evil crime, to she was an evil priestist by her wearing the stole it symbol of evil doing, she represented evilness unlike a priest who wears a sole around his neck when he offers mass or forgiveness during confession it represent goodness of God. I hope this might help to understand the meaning her wearing one

Thank you Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie, Anon, and Novelera for your fantastic work. I will miss this TN badly.

The rain scene was the sweetest in the whole show. Was this a repeat, or did hey make it for the finale?

So, it looks like like Paloma is staying in RdM after all. The town square looked so beautiful in the final scene. And Paloma's ugly outfit was a cherry on the top of 171 episodes with ugly outfits.

I don't think I will watch "Mi Pecado" I want out of the chore of recording the show every night. I'm pretty much hooked on "Dinero".

I loved to read everyone's comments. This blog made my first TN such an enjoyable experience. Again, thank you to everyone.

Thank you to all recappers. You have helped me to understand all of what my not so splendid Spanish didn't and did it with great humor. The finale was absolutely brilliant, tying all loose ends. Although, personally would have like to see an ending ala Al Diablo con los Guapos...kind of a montage of the future of all characters so I wouldn't have to wonder if Luz and Eugenio actually did get together and assured us that Carloca stayed where she belonged or suffered some awful fate worthy of her nastiness.
Novelera: the things that Emo put in Pal's hands were indeed coins. It is a tradition called "The Thirteen Gold Coins" (trece monedas de oro). The groom gives these to the bride signifying that he will support her and places all his goods into her care. By accepting, she signifies that she accepts this duty and will watch over them with total dedication.

Thank you, Novelera, for a terrific ending to a terrific novela which I will truly miss. The acting was superb, the story went at a clip with twists and turns and the characters were dimensional. Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie and Anon, you are talented writers with great insight and humor. I appreciate all the hard work and staying up late to help this not so proficient Spanish speaker grasp the dialogue. I'm so glad I stayed with this at first grim novela as it has turned out to be my favorite novela so far.

Pal is spending her life with her not so extraordinary forever love Emiliano but at she and we were lucky enough to meet and love her extraordinary beaus, Inaki and Gabriel. What a lucky girl to have these two men however briefly in her life. Of course, not too lucky for them especially Inaki.

I guess they completed pretty much every detail except that Carmen never seemed to return from her world tour. Pal learned of her inheritance through other means but we were tortured for months with her absence.. Anamar was delusional to the end and I guess we had to be sold that Emiliano was just as desirable to women as Pal was too the guys.

There were some LOL moments...Gabe's gray/green tint, Carloca surviving a great fall and without blood anywhere, Loca's roomy outfit she borrowed from the petite nurse, her suddenly supersized gun and Emiliano's suddenly appearing groom's attire I assume he carried it around in the trunk of his car in case Paloma ever said "yes.". But who can fault this excellently written and acted novela. It was an enjoyable experience.

A huge thank you to all the ENDA recappers. I have been absent from your discussions, and I'm sorry - this blog has just gotten too big for me. But you did a fabulous job and earned yourselves many wonderful readers! I am so grateful for your work!

Novelera, thanks for a Grand Recap to a Gran Final. Thanks, also, to all of the other recappers: Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie, Loves ENDA Anon. You made a great TN even better. Thanks so much!

No surprise, Carlota could walk. Great to have the one size fits all uniforms. I had always pictured her knocking out the nurse and then walking past the guards without them realizing it was a different person. At least she wore a mask, so who can blame them. ;)

Surprise for me, Gabe bringing Emoon in to get married. I didn't see that coming. They had to do it, they only had time for one wedding. :)

Another surprise, they kept Carlota alive. Thought she had to die after that fall. Tough old bird.

When Eugenio said, I hope my hijo doesn't suffer. That sealed the deal. Carlota will kill Gabe. No doubt about that. Then he's hugging Paloma and gets to be one of the first to see La Loca and make the sacrifice.

Poor Ange, stuck with Orly.

At least the nurse did not succumb to Carlota's bribe. At least Carlota took the time to clean up her mess before leaving. :)

Anamar knew Em was marrying Paloma? Em call her?? A little later Em took the time to call Orly and fill him in? Emil likes to talk I guess.

Carlota had a bunch of cash stashed away with her gun. Surprised that the doily was still there. Or perhaps she had a backup doily.
Anon.. Great explanation on the meaning to the doily/stole.
She was always 1 step, barely, ahead of the cops. I think she took too much time leaving the hospital.

Definitely noticed Gabe greenish tinge, too.

Who knew, the wedding happens before the last killing, something a little different. I've always been wondering if Gabe would sacrifice himself in the end. And crazy PJC and the other priest trying to track La Loca down. Loca till the very end. Te Amo as she let's go.

At the end, PJC or is it now BJC, dressed up in his bishop duds.

Great scene with Romina and German. Happily ever after for them. And I finally it looked like Emiliano and Paloma belonged together there at the end.

Paloma all alone, wheel spinning. What's next? ENDA 2, Return of Carlota!

A big thank you to Maggie,Julia, Gloria,Debbie and Novelera, and also Cathy who drop out from persona reasons. You all did such a fabulous job.

Noelera thanks for doing double duty for the final two hours i know personally how rough that can be.

I noticed the green tinged to Gabriel and i was like Daisynjay and Vivi like could we not have this guy not looking like he is going to turn into a full fledged zombie.

Vivi i agree they should have wrote Ange as not accepting being Oily Orlando's rebound woman, just accepting any little affections he can give her.

LOL about the Anamar's comments but probably so true.

Anon at 9:17am i don't know if what you're guessing could be what that white lace stole was.I would i love to see a background story given to us about it.

I loved seeing how they gave us the story of how German and Romina met and it was a perfect scene.

I thought Romina's hair at the wedding needed more volume because it looked flat.

Liliana's hair was just gorgeous she should have been wearing her hair like that from the get go. A little too much eyeshadow though but she looked so pretty.

Gabriel now that is selfless love and what a beautiful performance from Erick Elias, when he told Paloma he would marry her and Emoon came out instead. My mouth just drop opened like WTF.

The best expressions in the audience when this happened was Eugenio who looked at Luz like don't look at me i have no idea what's going on.

Second was Natalia her eyes and her WTH expression was good, and then Camila who eyes were almost popping out of their eye sockets.

Oops, make that Carlota all alone, wheel spinning....

Now several things that made no sense, first that gun was bigger than one she used to shoot Dr.B and what exactly was she thinking she was going to do with Inaki's ring.I mean would she really have had time to pawn it?

The cops should have had a car at her house right away as soon as they learned that she escaped the hospital.

Who has glass bottles like that is a hospital room and she did have the Virgencita but i guess that would have upset the audience if she used it.

Cris and Padres Mateo and Benito chasing after a deranged serial killer, please since when do they teach priest how to do swat training.

Why wasn't she put into a mental institution for the criminally insane.

I got a good laugh out of Padre Mateo when he was running by the statue and he came back and kneel down to pray to it before running off.I'm racking my brain because i believe they stole the scene from a movie that i seen before.

Daisynjay you spoke about Erick Elias acting and Cesar Evora ITA let's include Arturo Peniche i was crying my eyes out from his scene with Paloma.

What i love so much about Cesar and Artuto's acting is they can just give you a look or move their hand in touching someone else and you just feel what they are trying to say.

I love the look Eugenio gave Gabriel when they both met Emoon and Rafael in front of the church.

I love the teasing fatherly touches Cris gave to Paloma during his talk about what did she want to do with her life.

I'm missing this show already but the song as Jeff said the other day En Cambio No is still playing in my head.

In the last scene with Eugenio, Luz and Xochi, I thought it was so cute and touching the way that Xochi looked up from her drawing (she's usually happy in her oblivious little 4 year old world) and gave Eugenio a backwards hug. Like she knew he needed it in that moment. I am fine with him and Luz remaining friends. Same thing with Dr. B and Yvonne. Deep friendships between men and women can be very satisfying and doesn't have to end in romance. I love and cherish the close guys friends I have.

Thank you all for the kind comments. But those who did the heavy lifting were Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie and Anon. I really appreciated all their fine recaps month after month.

Because I'm on Pacific Time I wanted to get the recap up in time for you East Coasties to see it in the morning. So I didn't really say much about my opinion of the final. I really liked it a lot. It just flowed and was so well acted by all. I agree that Romina and German had the best guy/gal scenes together in the final. They got it all. German's tenderness, telling her it wasn't just passion, but really truly love. His guilt for his past crooked deeds. Romina's doubts if it will work. Romina's humble statement that she hopes to be a good mother, with the help of therapy. The truly delightful way they met. I wish all TN characters could meet in such a fun way instead of staring at each other dumbstruck. And, to the person who asked, that scene wasn't shown before.

I also was ready to quit on ENDA because of the early cruelty to a small girl, the darkness of Carlota abusing Macarena and giving her diabetic crises over and over, and Carlota winning every round. But the acting was great, all around. Leticia Calderón definitely deserves best villain, and I'd say best villain of either sex. And she wasn't ever over the top, just perfect acting. And what an amazing treat to get Peniche and Évora in the same cast!!

To sum up, this was one of my favorite novelas ever. I looked forward to watching every episode.

Vivi i agree that scene was darling but i also loved the scene when he and Luz were holding Xochitl hands when everyone was waiting on Paloma's decision.I felt that maybe the writers were alluding to the possibility that this could be family if that's what Luz and Eugenio decided.

Jeff you're on a roll today ENDA2 the return of Carloca, Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My.

Also ita with what everyone has said i don't know who was in charge of costume or wardrobe but that person was definitely not kind at all with Paloma's clothes.

I mean really her last scene in the novela they dress her in something that look like Rufi should have been wearing unbelievable. That person needs to go on one of those reality fashion shows and be criticized.

Once again i will say i can't believe how blown away from Altair's Jarabo's portrayal as Romina, someone mentioned how this is her third straight novela as being cast as the villain.

I hope she isn't typecast and i hope the producers recognize what a young and gifted star they have. I would love to see some producer cast her in a role like Fernanda MEPS. I see her as a younger Sylvia Navvaro type.

Novelera i disagree without your contributions to doing some ENDA recaps there wouldn't have been that flow to the recaps so a big thank you from east coast.

Also at the very beginning i felt the same way you did how dark and dreary this new novela was.I saw one of novela novios Eduardo Capetillo in it so i decided to give it a try but he was killed off in the first episode wasn't it or was it the second.

Despite the animal cruelty i hated the drowned puppy scene because i love dogs and if someone hurt my baby like that let's just i would transform into a Carloca myself.

I would say almost everything about this novela was outstanding i mean they had a few glitches here and there but it will definitely go down as one of my all time favorite novelas.

I know Jarocha saw the original which was a classic by itself.

I like to think the writers took that story and added quite a few new additions to the original and made a sort of new original with this story.

Here's hoping that we aren't disappointed by Mi Pecado that starts tonight.

Totally satisfying ending with a couple of quirks. At one point I heard this gasping crying and thought that must be what everyone talks about with Paloma and then realized oh crap it isn't Paloma it's me.

Back a while I posted about an ending in my favorite novela where guy 2 at the last moment sacrifices himself so the girl gets her true love by switching places in the church but was actually surprised this time. The odd coincidence is that in the other novela Arturo Peniche was guy number one and Ramon Abscal (Joel) was the Gabe type. As for Em having his tux handy just in case this is Real del Monte and time is a funny thing so he obviously had time to talk to Gabe, find a rental place get cleaned up and slip into the church.

I too noticed Gabe's color and thought it looked more gray then green and that it symbolized the nearness of his death. When my husband died I was struck by how quickly his beautiful olive skin turned gray.

Carloca loca to the end. I honestly thought she was going to end up handing from the top of the church with that lace thing. When she flew over and crashed to the ground she looked like some giant bat straight out of Dracula. She did have blood coming out of her mouth but the witch obviously has more lives than a cat. Satan's daughter for sure and the end shot of her lying on the ground wheels spinning was perfect. That should have been the final shot in the novela. The how we met scene and the last kiss in the park could have come before but i quibble.

The death scene was wonderful if a little odd. Doc B is in the church but doesn't rush to the dying man to try and save him. Three priests dash after homicidal maniac while Rafa and all the other male guests at the wedding just stand around. Someone did at least have the sense to call for an ambulance but where were the cops who had been chasing the deadly purple One. Oh well it is novelaland and the show was so consistently good why quibble.

As has been pointed out the Paloma scene with Cris and the death scene where no one ended up with blood on them were fantastic. I love both Arturo and Cesar and never miss a novela with them in it. They are masters of their craft and never ever disappoint. Some of the young men in this cast hopefully learned a great deal from them on how you don't have to go all silent movie over acting to convey emotion. it will be interesting to see how some of their careers move forward.

I'm passing on MP because it doesn't have a cast anywhere near the caliber of this one, Dinero isn't my kind of show and CS is unfortunately the poster child for what makes everyone laugh at the mere word telenovela. So the next Jamil Camil, Peniche or Evora novela will find me back here yammering on.

Drat I meant I thought Carloca would end up hanging from the church not handing. It doesn't present an interesting image don't you think. Typing too fast once again.

Carloca's relationship with God was an interesting sub-theme in this novela. From the outside she was a deeply religious, pious woman. But she had created her own laws about good and evil /right and wrong, and she often mocked the representatives of the Church like Cris and the other members of the padre cadre by saying "YOUR god." As if she worshiped another god, better than the one they worshiped. Or did she see herself as god-like? The lace chapel veil/mantilla is an old fashioned custom in the Catholic Church (and many other faiths) that is worn by women as a sign of humility and respect for God, things that Carloca lacked. She twisted the meaning of the veil by wearing it as she planned and/or committed sinful/unlawful acts against others. Lots of interesting psychological stuff going on there.

Novelera, thanks so much for stepping up to the huge task of a 2-hour finale recap! Great read.

When Carloca was lying there with her wheelchair tipped over, I just went ahead and imagined the rats swarming in.

Is it possible that Carloca wasn't looking for Iñaki's ring in the desk, to pawn, but that she wanted the ring Cris had given to Macarena, which Rufi had fortunately taken and given to Paloma?

What a total utter nutter that woman is. In complete denial to the very end, insisting that she's better than everyone else and that all her murders are Paloma's fault.

LOVED Romina and Germán reuniting. That was very sweet.

If it's true that a bad wedding is a good omen for the marriage, then Paloma and Emiliano should have the freaking best marriage evah.

I don't really care too much about Emiliano and Paloma's outcome, though...to me, the best relationships on this show were the parent-child ones, not the romantic ones. Paloma and Cris together, and Eugenio and Gabriel, were just magic.

Vivi, I thought it was nice symbolism that Carlota fell from the church. Her bizarre relationship with religion has been a major force in this drama.

Thanks to all you wonderful recappers! Your work is truly appreciated. I haven't been able to catch all the episodes for some time now, but the recaps help me keep up. I really liked several of the characters in this one and especially loved the music. I always love watching (and listening to) César Evora.

Gabriel deserved his angelic name. I'm not sure how I feel about waiting until the wedding to let Paloma in on his decision to not marry her for her sake and then to simply switch out the grooms, but I guess I'm not supposed to overthink things!

I was really beginning to believe that German and Romina were going to be lost. I was very relieved to see their redemption.

Reminder, everyone who is interested. The cast of ENDA is on Cristina tonight. Let's hope Emo isn't looking moody.

A big thanks to all the recappers for all your time and efforts in recapping this TN.

Also a big thanks to all the commenters with whom I was able to share my thoughts.

This was such a good novela. Last night I couldn't sleep well and I kept wakeing up to Macarena's and Cristobal's song. I absolutely loved the soundtrack.

I'm the least emotional person, but let me tell you there were scenes that made me cry my eyes out in this novela.

Poor Chris, he wasted about 20 years of his life because of Carloca's lies. I was happy for him at the end because he said he was truly a happy man. When Carloca fell from the top of the church I was mad because I thought she got off easy by dying. She was mean to the end. Everybody else made amends or repented except for her.

I will miss Real Weird del Monte.

Novelera – This was just outstanding. You said yesterday that you felt a bit guilty for not being a regular recapper, which you don’t need to as it’s a big time commitment. But I sure do hope you volunteer to fill in when somebody has to take some days off. You are a wonderful writer, and I was astonished to see that you are on the west coast. When I saw your recap was already up when I looked at 1:00 Pacific time, I thought you must be an East Coast person. Wow! A two-hour show all done, proofed and polished and posted so early. And it had great funny bits.

I thought it was a lovely ending – not all the rice-throwing and bouquet-tossing we usually get, but sweet, thoughtful resolutions.

Does this mean Em will always be wearing the wedding ring Gabriel bought? Can they get married in a church without the marriage license, and then go get one from the government?

It was astonishing that nobody tackled Carlota, and that all the guests stood around I guess thinking “She’s out of bullets,” so they didn’t dive for cover.

Decie girl – Mi Pecado may turn out to have some great performances, we don’t know yet. I certainly was very impressed with a lot of actors in Amor, ones that I’d never seen before.

Many people have commented about liking the music, and liking En Cambio No. I liked the theme song too until they put the singer in the closing credits. I found her almost as scary as Carlota. We’d have our last freeze frame, and then here would come this woman screaming at us, with her hands clutching at the air in front of her face, and she would end up hanging on a chain link fence, then giving us some meaningful looks. Creepy.

I particularly liked Rafa. Here was a good, decent, solid man, not over-the-top saintly like that sort of character is usually presented to us.

Someone mentioned Christina tonight and I'm trying to guess who will be on. So I'm thinking Letty because it was her first villain role, maybe Arturo since he is pals with Christina or Cesar because he's Cuban then in the young set Sebastian because it is his first novela and he also grew up partly in Miami and his folks live there, then Allisson maybe Altair and lets hope Erick, Luis or Ferdinando. With a cast this big you'd hope they might do two shows with different cast members. Heck they could do one with just men. LOL

Anyone else have any guesses?

Thank you Thank you to all the wonderful recappers! This was my first TN and it helped so much! They did a good job on this ending, for sure the Sorti writes should have had some pointers. They tied up the loose ends well and it was satisfying.

I was afraid La Loca had died when she fell - it was great that she didn't and was in prison in a wheelchair being taunted for being a senorita, and that Eugenio is going to make sure she stays there. Pretty fitting punishment, death would be too easy.

This was a painful story through alot of it and hard to watch sometimes. I wish they had maybe started the good stuff happening a little sooner, drawn it out more. ITA with the comments above about Romina and German, very sweet and touching.

Also wonderful that Gabriel was so loving and gave Pal what she really wanted. Kind of amazing that everyone recovered from that shock and the wedding went on. Paloma has had the most tragic and painful life for someone so young, after the extremely intense wedding, maybe now it will be happy.

I won't be watching Pecado, I just don't want to get pulled into another TN like ENDA. I like dinero and Salvaje is fun. Thanks again, all!

Ivy

Maggie- I was thinking as Pal put the ring on Em's finger, I hope his fingers are the same size as Gabes! :) Lol! I think Gabe had the suite for Em all ready. I think he made his decision about how this was all going to go down after he spoke to the doc in DF, and he kept it to himself, not even telling his dad. Both times when Eugenio asked him if he was sure about what he was going to do, in DF and then on the wedding day, he said yes, there was going to be a wedding. But neither of those times did he say, yes, I'm going to marry Paloma. Once he knew he couldn't give her much time to show her all the things and places he had wanted to show her, he decided. Heck! He might have even found a way get a ring that fits Em!

Thanks Novelera for a great recap. This by far has been my favorite novela. Definately will have to add this to my library. Carloca's ending I think was great. She lost everything. Her freedom, her ability to walk, her ability to control and demand respect. She will not be getting that in prison. I cried when Gabe was dying. I so did not see that coming. I loved the German/Romina scene. It was so sweet. The finale was just wonderful all around. The writers of this novela were really good and even at the end they made sure that we were surprised by the outcome. Thank you all for reading my very lengthy recaps:) I really enjoyed it and your comments. Let's hope Mi Pecado will be good.

Novelera, thanks for the magnificent final recap, and thanks too to Maggie, Julia, Gloria, Debbie, and Anon, who have entertained me and kept me clued in to so much that my feeble Spanish missed when I watched the episodes.

I too almost gave up on this novela early on. It was so grim, and I asked myself why I wanted to subject myself to so much misery. However, the wonderful recaps and comments kept me coming back. Gradually I found I was compelled by the novela as well as the recaps and comments. I keep saying "and comments" because the remarks offered by the whole Caray Caray community added immensely to my understanding and enjoyment. Muchos gracias a todos.

A final few musings about this TN. I always assumed that the crocheted collar was part of Carloca's trousseau. She did all of her evil deeds in the name of love for Cris.

This was an extraordinary TN because we watch Paloma physically mature during the months of this series. I really noticed the changes in her face - she lost the little girl look and began showing a beautiful young woman's face. Her frumpy clothes hid everything else.

I agree that the parent-child relationships were just "magic".

I watched the last parts and thought this will be a treat since I get to see all the resolutions! And the surprise groom approaching/doing his mack through the half darkness was a treat indeed. But THEN they had to do that doubledeath thing! BOO.ooo. Why do they do that?!
We know Carly was dead after that splat - I think it was heard even IN the music. But they she returns to life scenes later in a wheel chair in jail! With a PERRrrrfect head, face and upper-body. Is this return-from-the-dead plot somebody's signature stamp on his telenovelas?!!!
Seen it once, and laughed. Seen it twice, and said now cut that out. This is got to be the third time, and I am not amused.

Bonney, I think that in order to be killed, one must have a soul. To get rid of Carloca would involve some sort of spell or something, like what they did to the demons on Charmed. Even then, the ladies had a hard time keeping the demons from popping back up.

To go back to wading in the shallow end...

Did Gabe the Babe look super fine in his wedding threads, or what? I was surprised Paloma wasn't all, "Emiliano who?"

Maggie, the secret to getting the recap up was that, while on the West Coast in California, I have DirecTV. The satellite offers both the east coast and the west coast feeds of both Univision and Telemundo. Thus, my DVR records 9:00 novelas at 6:00, 8:00 at 5:00, etc.

This is VERY important to me being able to DVR the episodes while I'm still at my desk at work. After all, God knows I need all the beauty sleep I can get!

According to my 10-second research, Sebastian Zurita, Allisson Lozz, Leticia Calderón (looking VERY different), Alfredo Adame and Laura Flores will be on Cristina.

Drat! No Luis Hacha!

I checked on the Univision site to see who is on the Cristina show tonight, and sorry to see that neither Cesar or Erick look like they will be on. From the photos, it looks like Allison (Pal), Sebastian (Emi), Alfredo (Rafa), Laura (Camilla) and Letitia (Purple Queen), who has the most god-awful jumpsuit I have ever seen in my life. I may tune in just to see WTH she was thinking. The article says Ferdinando (Germy) is on too I think, but I don't see him in the photos.
Bummer, was really hoping to see my fearsome twosome.

Thank you novelera for the great work you did. I too was wondering how Emiliano got dressed so quickly in a tuxedo after seemingly moping around at home. The only explanation is that Gabriel and Emiliano spoke before the wedding and Gabriel told Emiliano that he feels Emiliano should be the one to marry Paloma.

Maybe Emiliano was faking it so he would not give away the surprise because it is implausible given the logistics of finding the tux,etc on shuch short notice. Of course the gusets were shocked and thought that it might be a showdown of sorts. Well, since Paloma and Emiliano both really do love each other, then it's fitting that they wed each other.

I smiled at Padre Cristobal's mild slip saying kiss your girlfriend. Emiliano corrected him and said wife. I'm still annoyed at Csrlota's sudden recovery of her legs. If she was faking it, She showed no facial reaction to the tests the doctors gave her. Then again he said there was something structurally wrong with her. It must have been a temporary psychosomatic disorder that afflicted Carlota. It happens. Maybe the sign of her getting over it was when she was feeling up her legs. Carlota over powering the nurse was just crazy. Another beanie moment. I'm surprised the guard did not hear the commotion. And I too agree with the one size fit all scrubs. I too was glad she did not use the Guadalupe statue to knock out the nurse. But a water bottle?

Must be nice to have $$$ conveniently hidden at home in a box. Paloma or Rufi should have seen that. Gabriel's tragic death was a heroic one. A selfless sacrifice to someone he loves. The scene though, reminded me a little bit of the death scene in the Godfather part III when Michael Corleone's daughter Mary died after being shot. Michel and Vincent crying in anguish as Eugenio did.

I thought we would see a fast forward montage of Paloma and Emiliano at Gabriel's bedside as he lay dying then the subsequent funeral that followed. But that was not the case. BTW, I saw Rafael in the background with a cellphone presumably calling the ambulance which came later.

Of all people to chase Carlota, the 3 priests were doing it. I thought at least one of them would be by Gabriel's side blessing him. During the rooftop struggle with Carlota, I thought She shot herself as Cristobal was trying to free her hand of the gun. She seemed shocked as the gunshot went off. I don't know if you all noticed that her eyeliner got smudged with her tears and it seemed like she was weeping tears of blood.

When she said she did not repent what she did, and bade Cristobal goodby and telling him I love you, I thought that was the end. We saw her let go of her grip with Cristobal as he tried to save her by pulling her up. She fell what seems to be at least a hundred feet from the rooftop. She landed on her back and head. There is no way she survives that. Not even the strongest guy in the world could survive that. Her skull should have been smashed like a broken egg shell. there was blood but it was minimal. Macarena had more gruesome bloodshed when she fell from the railing of their house. When Paloma looked away, I thought she was grossed out by the site. You even heard an audible 'splat'.

Ibarramedia

I had a feeling that Carlota might be alive when it was days later and Critobal was ordained a bishop and Paloma and Rufi were not wearing black. Face it, they would still mourn Carlota's passing if she died. Artemio Bravo in MEPs and Bruno in Sortilegio were mourned. So later, when we see a figure slowly wheeling away, the camera pans up to a shot of the Purple mistress who wore black the day she fell from the church roof top. She was now dressed in the brown inmate uniform but with a cream cardigan sweater. Ok, let's say she survived that fall, she still seems her *normal* self minus the use of the legs. She should not even be speaking normally or at all. Maybe just mumbling inaudible words because of brain damage(vegetative brain damage, she's already sick mentally)

The inamate decided to teach her a lesson because she was still uppity with all of them. there is also a prison subculture so she needs to learn to get along with the inmates. They really do need to imprison her in a place for the criminally insane. She is so delusional that it is not funny.

I like the resolution of Romina and German's fate. It is a realistic sceneario. German has learned his lesson and paid his debt to society. He is starting to bounce back into life with a second chance. Romina and German will have to go through the growing pains of parenthood. Glad to see that Romina is seeking the help she needs professioanlly. It takes a while. I suppose Olando and Anglica could not really be at the wedding with all the turmoil everyone had and how fast the wedding happened. I agree that Anamar was not needed. She did not even had to come to Real del Monte in the first place.

I thought Emiliano and Paloma yelling i love yous to the world was a bit cheesy. They couldd have been better off walking out in the susnset. But not complaints. It was a good series.

Ibarramedia

Maggie i don't think that the image Laura Pausini was going for in her video of the song and that's one thing the producer miss he should have just gave us the images of the stars of the novela show with the music.LOL at your description though.

Vivi interesting analysis of Carloca's relationship with God, i had to laughed at all the times she said to Cris,Benito or Mateo your God. Yet every time she was planning another plot or scheme she was praying to him to make it work.

At the end i have to say because she got away with so much before she was discovered she acted or shall i say thought she was God-like.

How interesting that she hid under the mask of being a pious moral upstanding citizen and got away with it for a long time.

I loved how when Carlota went to get the money and gun in the bookcase, the whole line of books moved as a (lightweight) unit. They were fakes! She is not really an intellectual! Ha.

A lot of the TNs are now showing the singers, either at the end or even at the beginning. Trying to sell songs. I loved the little scenes in the opening. Loved it when they updated it late in the show. Showed smiling Orly, Camily, and scowling Rafa. Loved it when they had Rafa surrounded by Camila and Luz. Rafa had the big smile on his face then. The scenes in the opening with Romina were great. She has that great smile. The tears and sadness/upset really looked real as well.

I don't think Carlota fell 100 feet, but pretty high though. No telling how much later it was when we saw her in prison, could have been months.

A lot of comments today. Anyone putting a comment section up for tonight's Cristina? Just saw a commercial about it a few minutes ago. Wow, Leticia looked different. Short hair.

Ibarramedia – I think the deal with Carlota’s legs is that they really were paralyzed at the beginning, but then when some swelling somewhere went down, they came back to life and she just faked not being able to feel the pinpricks. Not sure, though. She’s hardly the type to have a hysterical paralysis.

I agree – that fall would have cracked her head open like a melon. I too was expecting at least brain damage.

They said at the end that Good wins out, but I would say more that justice was done, because if you do a body count, it’s evil:4 plus a Yorkie, Good:0.

I was steamed that the Yorkie never came up. I was hoping Carlota would confess to that, and Paloma would totally lose it (You killed my PUPPY???) and then push her over the banister.

Carlota’s big fear was being alone. Well, she doesn’t have to worry about that now.

Novelera – hmmm, I’m looking at the sidebar and I see Wed needs a half-time recapper for Mi Pecado. Piensalo!

Gloria – your recaps aren’t too long! I love tons of detail so I can understand what I didn’t get when watching.

It was FIVE human murders, plus a Yorkie, plus some birds, and some of us still have suspicions about Carlota's father's death.

When Carlota killed Iñaki she didn't seem unfamiliar with such a use for belladonna, and didn't her father supposedly die of a heart attack at a time which was very convenient for her?

Also, the very first scene of the telenovela was Carlota putting on her lace stole thing and looking in the mirror with evil in her eyes.

Carlota draws some paralleles with Gabriela from FELS. They both used religion to justify their actions ans were in need of professional help.

Sometime later, the guards would have picked up Csrlota and deposited her back to her cell afdter the recreation period was over. They do roll calls during lockdown. And yes! She is totally alone amidst the multitude of prisoners in prison. One can still be lonely even if surrounded by people. Carlota had this creepy vibe about her. I felt sorry for Gabby, not not much for Carlota. She still has an acid tongue despite being crippled.

I still would have loved to see a joust between Madeleine and Carlota in their wheelchairs. ;)

Ibarramedia

Julia i was thinking the same thing with you Carloca was just so comfortable using the Belladonna and when the night she made her concoction to drugged Cris she sure did know the right amount to use didn't she?

like you said how very convenient for their father to have a heart attack right around the same time, she obviously knew Cris and Macarena were going to elope.

When Cris showed up at the funeral thinking it was Macarena who died and not their father from Carloca's lie. She had probably done her usual of diluting Macarena's insulin.

I would have love the writers to incorporate that into the story because it would be exactly what she would do in her sick obsessive mind.

Jeff you're right about how novelas now are using videos of the singers for the theme song of the novelas.

I really loved when they did change the opening credits with Camila between Rafael and Orlando to Rafael between Luz and Camila. Then Emiliano between Romina and Paloma to Paloma between Gabriel and Emoon.

They didn't need to hit us over the head with oh by the way this is what the singer of the theme song looks like.

So, it seems like male super villians always get a quick death, and female super villians get slow painful deaths (Gabi in FELS) or become disfigured in some way and/or spend a lifetime in prison (Sara in QE, Babs in MEPS, Carloca). Why is that? Looks like the men are getting off way easy.

Damian in Guapos ended up in a wheelchair, while Andrea, who was at least as nasty if not more so, was killed instantly in the crash which injured him.

I'm trying to think of other male villains who suffered slowly, though, and I'm not coming up with anything. At worst they seem to just go to prison (which I guess can be torturous), or they die quickly, and otherwise they are redeemed. The worst fates do seem to go to the women.

Strange.

Ibarramedia.. The joust would be interesting, but I just don't see Madeleine having a chance with Carlota, but she has more experience with the chair. :)

I don't see Carlota offing her dad. Could have. I just see him as probably being the one strong male figure she would follow. Probably strict and she followed his teachings. She also seemed to have something for her brother that died. Not sure if she really got much from dad's death. I think most went to her brother and when he died in the accident, she fell into it all as Paloma's guardian.

Vivi.. what can I say, we run things or think we do. ;) But.. that does seem to be true. Interesting. Maybe we just don't like to see women die?

I would rather not see female villains Vivi. Or at least see them die. I like to see them turn to the good side.

Fernando Escandon got away easily when He shot himself. Only 1 guy I can think of got a nasty end. The dude who played Vladimir was wheelchair bound, lost an arm and an eye and I think was facially disfigured in the Muchachitas final. I don't watch they show but caught it one afternoon when I came home early.

Ibarramedia

I think what Carlota got from her father's death (whether she was responsible for it or not) was control, not money.

She was able to use his funeral as a cover to make Cris think Mac had died (because apparently there are no newspapers in RealWeird printing obituaries, and she got him out of town without his talking to anyone). She made Macarena dependent on her. She got her brother to see her as the authority figure in the family. And she got to be the saintly one who sacrificed her own ambitions to take care of everyone else.

Julia, Damian was wheel chair bound only for a very short time. I think he even had nurse wipe him down after going to the bathroom. **shudders** gross. He lived a long life with constancio and those 2 drove each other insane, playing tricks andd pranks with each other in their old age and I think they died at the same time when they just keeled over.

Ibarramedia

There was a novela with Cristian de la fuente and the actress who was the lead on Amar sin Limites i always get her confused with kate Del Castillo but the female villain died in that one.

Then there was Innocente Por Ti the female villain Helena Rojo who was crazy like Carloca she was killed after being locked up in a mental hospital. Smothered by her fellow patient on her bed.

So they do kill female villains just not as much as the males are killed.

What am I to do, after I watched this I would then watch Esmeralda. What a great actress our Carloca is.

The only thing I could not understand is that why were people still standing around outside after she shoots Gabe? That just did not make sense to me. Lovely ending but I was in Gabe's corner instead of Emiliano. I thought they would let her marry Gabe, then after he died she would come back and marry Emiliano. Oh well.

I agree with your explanation Julia. It has never been established that Carlota murdered their father. So we all speculated on what really happened. She never even made references via thought bubble that she killed him. I believe that she really loved her father and he just had a heart attack or something.

I think she did all that you mentioned in your post above and she just gradually got worse as the years went by. 20 something years is a longtime. Day after day of feeding that hate and anger can do that to you.

Ibarramedia

Nellie i was thinking the same thing why is everyone standing around still after the ambulance came and took a dead Gabriel away. hello deranged lunatic running amok with a gun. Most especially Paloma just standing there with a bullseye on her back.

Julia ita with about the control but she also told Macarena that Cris was dead too. Now for the money Javier was left in charge of that and i can't remember if he had a job or if they were just rich. Since Carloca was always doctoring and diluting Mac's medicine to control her like you said Julia.

Javier in the case of his death and Sagario's left her in charge of Paloma's inheritance. He probably took care of both of his sisters since they didn't work.

Carloca must have went through the money he left them and from her father too, that's why she was so reliant upon Paloma's inheritance. She sold Javier's and Sagario's house after they died.

She damn near went crazy when Macarena threaten her that she was going to sell half of the family house and take Paloma and her out of there.

Once again it was about control being in charge of the inheritance and their lives but also power because she enjoyed looking down on people too.

So is anyone going to put up a discussion page for Cristina?

I know it's late for a comment, but just want to say that ENDA was "my first ever" telenovela and I thank the recappers for helping me with my limited Spanish and making it "come alive" for me. "Besos" to all of you and for the commenters as well. I truly LOL every day!

So marriage licenses are not required and tuxedos are handy, but I have learned to wear my beanie and quit worrying about such things!

I want to watch, "Donde Esta Elisa" at 10 but tonight BUT I will watch Christina, because I have totally loved ENDA!

We on Univision are getting this AFTER Mexico, so am I right that these actors are coming back WAY LATER to comment on the production?

Anyway, thanks to all!

tm

tm- Yes, you're right. Cristina is done way after the shows have aired in Mexico. She's a US based show, so the show is for US audiences. So most of the tn stars that come on have already moved on to their new projects- often why they can't appear on the show.

Discussion page for the Cristina show is up.

I was right on the money when I thought that Carlotta was a priestist and her wearing of the stole what it represented after doing some research. I found out the following: The meaning of the sole in the Catholic church is a sign of pastoral office originally made of wool to symbolize the sheep- that is the member of the flock of Christ- for whom the pastors are responsible. The stole is a symbol of meaning strenght also a sign of sacramental & teaching authority given at ordination of priesthood. It also is a symbol of immortality and the yoke of Christ. Curious enough in Carlotta case she practiced Santeria which is a form of worshipping of saints and Santeros are all accomplice herbalist which are used in magical rituals. The saints in Santaria cover every aspect of nature and human behavior and have distinct control in the behaviors. Many of the saints that Santeros use are the same saints known in the Catholic Church but with different names. The necklace or collares or Elekes known in santeria are worn by followers of this faith, it represent a level of initiation into the religion. They come in different colors like what the priest wear. Interesting the two contrast between Carlotta and Christobal the good and the evil, his God and her religion and practice. If you remember when she would go into her office or bedroom where she would go for her prayers she had her own mantel of worship with saints and a wooden stand that held the bible a Santero also has a rectangluar wood shape stand to do his work. I hope this explains her evil ways and her white lace she wore around her neck and her herbal teas.

Sorry I omitted also a known practice of Santeros is the killings of animals for their worship rituals. Did Carlotta drown a dog?
