Corazon Salvaje, 4/28/10 The Treasure of the Fiera Madre

Corazón Salvaje, 4/28/10 -- "The Treasure of the Fiera Madre"

In the finca office, Leonarda broods over some possible connection
between the old Juan San Roman and the new one; surely what Clemencia
denied must be the truth. But in fact, she thinks, only María del
Rosario can rid her of her suspicions. Meanwhile, Clemencia visits
the beach shack, and she and the boyz fret and stew again about what
kind of trouble Juan is going to instigate and who will get hurt.

Out on the plantation road, a carriage halts, and Noel alights --
turning to warmly greet Juan, bringing up the rear on horseback.
Renato has been showing Juan the estate, but the thing that most
impressed Juan was the fair treatment of his workers. When Juan
thanks Noel for backing him on his new job, Noel claps Juan on the
shoulder and declares he always tries to be fair with people, although
sometimes he has failed.

Noel continues to explain about the boy he let down some time ago, a
boy who was the victim of a foul injustice. Juan evinces unease,
turns and puts a few steps between them. Noel sounds as though it
preys on his conscience, Juan says.

Noel admits it's tormented him his entire life, and he's never lost
hope he could restore all that belonged to the boy. And one day he'll
do it, Noel vows, looking Juan in the eye. Juan is truly
uncomfortable now and begs off to get back to work.

Rodrigo returns to the townhouse to live, and close on his heels
enters Federico. They commiserate on the infuriating state of Juan
installed as estate manager, and Rodrigo won't return until he's
gone. Suddenly, Ruffina the maid bursts into the room, horrified.

Someone broke into the house last night; nothing is stolen but the men
rush upstairs to the scene of the crime and are incensed and baffled
at the carnage. Thus, Federico for some reason viewed the damage Juan
wrought, as well as did Rodrigo. Aimee's room is turned inside out
and upside down, the mirror smashed; but Rodrigo's main quandary is
who in the world would do this.

At the beach cave, Juan has departed; but Aimee remains -- torturing
herself with memories of Juan berating and insulting her. Of all
things, Regina then appears, shouting and startling Aimee, who goes on
attack. It's her business if she's there -- and Regina is sounding
like a jealous rival! Well, if Regina thinks Juan's presence will
bring Aimee down, she's dead wrong!

She'll fight for what she has left, and she's not going to lose
Renato! He's hers! Hers! Regina is completely confused as Aimee
exits, having enough. Regina wonders what could have possibly
happened. Glancing around at the mats and signs of habitation, Regina
realizes this was their meeting place. And then it dawns on her with
amazement that Juan did come here and talk to Aimee -- and rebuffed her!

Back at the finca, Arcadio drums up another argument with Leonarda in
a hallway including the usual suspects of his loss of status and
threats; she's not afraid of him at all and doesn't help with her
woeful tale of missing Rodrigo so terribly. This enrages Arcadio who
grabs her, whereupon Renato discovers them in flagrante and shouts
out. Arcadio and Leonarda agree to the lame explanation that she
fell, which Renato doesn't believe, but lets pass after raking Arcadio
over the coals again. The purpose of this scene becomes more apparent
at a later moment.

In the girls' bedroom at the casino, the "sisters" solicitously tend
to Lulu, who lies on the bed. They await the doctor, and presently
Dr. Pablo enters. After a couple of questions and a look or two, Pablo
determines Lulu hasn't been eating properly and is anemic. The doctor
writes out a prescription, and as he's leaving, Fifi invites him to
come visit them sometime.

Dr. Pablo demures but reminds them any time he's needed, he'll be at
their service. Great guy. If Lulu is not pregnant, then the reason I
can see for this scene is introducing the doctor to the girls. The
third girl does need a fellow. Pablo'd never visit there otherwise;
Lulu laments after he exits that his type of gentlemen unfortunately
never sets his sights on girls like them.

At the gypsy camp, Griselda and Servando complain they're short of
cash and wonder if the gypsy kidnapping scare has subsided in town.
Jimena enters and relates how, oddly enough, no one wanted her to read
their palm; so she came home broke. Well, that's their answer; and
Griselda and Servando head off to raise some dough after Griselda
first ordering Jimena to the river to slave over the laundry.

Several long scenes ensue during the rest of the episode in the
environs of the river, involving Jimena, water, dancing, bare skin,
eventually Gabriel and a horse, lots of fun, music, splashing,
horseback riding and swimming clothed. Jimena and Gabriel have a fine
time doing the laundry. At the end of the last such scene, Gabriel is
overcome with Jimena's beauty and tells her so. But no kiss on the
lips.

In a scene that probably has more to do with tomorrow (according to
the previews), in her cell, María del Rosario entertains and delights
her companion, friend and caretaker, Mirta, with stories of wonderful
moments she and Juan de Dios stole from under the noses of Leonarda
and Rodrigo. María del Rosario appreciates Mirta very much and
promises to tell Juan de Dios how good Mirta has been to her when he
comes for her. Then he does so once again, in the guise of a dove.

A pleasant scene, in contrast to the hellish one developing down the
hall, brought on by the intolerable events of Arcadio's previous
scene. He is now full of fury; and in an alcohol-fueled rage, begins
tearing up the place and turning over furniture -- where he finds the
keepsake chest belonging to the twins' mother.

On the excuse of a shopping trip, Leonarda visits Rodrigo at the town
house and begins to relate to him her suspicions about the various
Juans San Roman. It makes her feel a little uneasy she says, and
doesn't Rodrigo think the two men resemble each other? Rodrigo thinks
back to the night he had a gun to Juan de Dios's forehead in the
bedroom -- and decides not. No, no. They don't resemble each other,
he decides.

But Rodrigo generously grants it's ok that Leonarda asked; she's only
worried about him, he understands. Then onto business. Won't
Leonarda please convince Aimee to put all her inheritance she received
upon her wedding into the lumber investment, Rodrigo asks. Of course,
Leonarda will do anything Rodrigo asks. Not to worry. Later the
scene continues; and as the two take tea, Leonarda calmly assures
Rodrigo she'll make Juan's life miserable; and failing that, she'll
offer him money to leave -- all so that Rodrigo can return home to her.

Back in the catacombs, drunken Arcadio rifles through the keepsake
chest of the twins' mother and pulls out the precious note the mother
left for her girls. Huh, what's this... Arcadio drops down onto an
old bedstead and reads it. We can hear in the woman's own voice how
she indicts Leonarda for her death, that Leonarda slowly poisoned
her. Even drunk, Arcadio is gleeful that he has ammunition to really
make Leonarda do what he wants now. Either she does his bidding or she
goes to prison.

When Clemencia finally makes a visit to Magda at the casino, it's not
a happy occasion. Magda is already in tears, as usual; but she is
truly startled by the urgency in Clemencia's demeanor. What in heaven
could be wrong with Rosenda! Tell her! Clemencia is loathe to say
it, but Rosenda has become mixed up with Don Rodrigo.

Finally, after a long day hand feeding and watering the troops, Juan
and Remigio pause at a refreshing stream, where Juan lays out his
plans for the workers, including no women or children working -- and
if the elders want to work, only light duty. Juan doesn't think he'll
have any trouble pushing his agenda, since he's the boss now. Remigio
reminds him he's also technically an owner, as well. All this is
Juan's fortune, too, as a Montes de Oca. But Juan is unmoved; when
he's finished, this fortune will all be turned to dust.

The previews look interesting. Harkening back to the scene with María
del Rosario, Remigio relates to Juan that a woman with a veil is
Arcadio's wife. Juan is fascinated. In another preview, Aimee is
shown agreeing to follow her dad's investment advice; so they'll both
go down in flames. And in another, the fisher folks are calling the
cops on Servando and Griselda. In the last one, Jimena effuses to
Regina what a good man Juan is. Try him, you'll like him!

Oh, most definitely a winner in the Telenovela Title Hall of fame! Well done Connie.

I just wanted to drop by to tell all you Salvajes that I think it totally sucks what Univision did to your telenovela. Everything about the schedule change positively reeks. Even though I more or less dropped off the comments (due to time constraints more than anything) I was taken aback to see that Tivo had stopped recording CS. Considering these shows have a life span would it have been asking to much to let it run to the end? I think not. Uni has certainly shown much worse during the evening prime time. I find their decision to move CS both baffling and insulting. Good for you for continuing to recap.

Thanks for the support Cap'n Sylvia. I can't take credit for the recap because it was Jeri who did an outstanding job. I just posted it for her AND I think I got it tagged right finally.

So due to the change of time is no one watching "Corazon anymore?....
thats too bad if that is the case...it seems to be getting a bit more juicy now and here in Cali if you have direct TV its on 3 times. So where have all the bloggers gone....what are you watching now?

Thanks for posting for me, Connie. :-)

I think I may be taking up the Wednesday duties.

Sylvia and anon, as far as I know, those who can't watch late are watching online. This episode is #49.

Nice job, Jeri. Your recap glows and the title, as Sylvia noted, is one of the best ever. You and Connie both have very distinctive styles, both wonderful, but I knew with the first paragraph that it wasn't done by Connie. Besides, she does Thursdays. Once again, well done.

Connie, I'll catch your recap Friday or Saturday.

Looks like you guys are coping very well.

Carlos

Carlos, thank you! :-)

Sylvia, TiVo is showing CS now, pretty sure. It was behind on the schedule a couple days. But my TiVo is showing it when it records it now.

I had to do a manual recording for my time zone (central 11 p.m.), but now I think I can go back to Season Pass by title.

Jeri, that was a great title. Thanks for the recap. Between being sleepy and getting a phone call, I missed some of the details. Now Juan won't be able to hate Renato so much.
Is there any way to loosen up Regina's curls? I'd like to reach into the screen and pull those silly corkscrew curls or do something to them. Maybe a nice loose braid.
La Paloma

Hi Jeri, sorry I didn't notice it was you who did the recap. Way to go!! (And Connie for posting.) Great teamwork and thanks for setting me straight. May I blame it on the Mojito?

Yes, I just checked and indeed Tivo did record THIS MORNING'S episode. Nevertheless I say Harrumph to Univision.

I saw a commercial for "Soy Tu Duena" "coming soon." I wonder if they are trying to speed up "Dinero" so they can put "Duena" on at 9pm?

I can't believe how fast you got this up! O_o It hadn't even aired for me yet when it appeared (so there were several hours of resisting the urge to take a peek so I wouldn't spoil myself).

That wasn't an entirely godawful episode, either! If only because it had a great deal of Gabe and Jimena having a good time without worrying about the oh-so-mysterious and oh-so-dying Estrella, and very little of Juan frothing and raving.

My previews are different than yours, though! Mine show a wee snippet of Gabe and Jimena and a slightly larger snippet of Aimee trying her best to pick up where Juan left her off.

"The Treasure of the Fiera Madre"

LMAO! It's a hilarious title. Thank you, Jeri, for the great detailed (and quick) recap, and thanks to Connie for posting it.

Noel, for God's sake, open your eyes. This man's almost identical to the previous Juan San Román.

La Paloma:
"Is there any way to loosen up Regina's curls?"

Sometimes I want to cut her poodle hair, as well Juan's Tarzan locks. This is her second (and not the last) hairstyle in the novela, and it still sucks. What I can't follow is the length of her locks.

Gallery update:
In a previous post someone asked for Aimee's costumes, so I uploaded a few pictures of our little ho.

Thanks, Jeri. I loved the title. Hub now tapes one show for me at 4.00 on Telemundo and then tapes CS at midnight. Ahoy, Sylvia. It is a sad turn of events, verdad ? La Paloma, I have a feeling that Juan could loosen up Reggie's curls. Oh yeah. Aribeth, your comments on the Hungarian language on Tuesday's recap were very interesting. I've had only one student from Hungary. She was a lovely, intelligent young woman from Budapest named Monika. She told me that after months of studying English here, her mother scolded her for making grammar mistakes in Hungarian in the letters she sent to her mother ! After reading your cpmments, I realize that Hungarians take grammar very seriously. I teach English to foreign students at a local community college. [ESL= English as a Second Language] Your grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure is excellent. You would be great at recapping.

I saw the commercial for STUD also. So I guess they moved Corazon so they could put it on early? I just don't get it. Thanks for the recap Jeri. Well done as always. So if it comes on early are we still going to try to do Corazon?

mad marley, I wrote the recap from an online episode -- is it cut much different from the broadcast? I hope they are not too different, as that's probably the only decent way I can get a recap up in a timely fashion.

It was a good episode in some ways, but loosely organized; seemed like they were holding quite a few plot reins at the same time. The letter was the best part, and getting Arcadio down there and throwing furniture was funny.

I actually love Arcadio with Leonarda; those two are entertaining. Like someone said earlier, there are a number of veteran actors in this who have probably known each other and worked together for decades.

The upcoming plot line with the veiled lady is the most intriguing at the moment; looking forward to seeing that one tonight. She still has her embroidery with Juan's name on it, which I hope he can discover.

I am curious where they are going with having Federico view Juan's vandalism in the town house -- and indeed where that might go in general.

The gypsies are going to mix it up with the fisher folk, and I don't think they have met before. Something could ensue from that acquaintance, and I'll be watching to see if so.

Aribeth, thank you for the pictures! Regina looks like Little Bo Peep in that bodice thing. I did enjoy your discussion of grammar and language yesterday, too. Very much!

Also the equestrian discussion; thank you. I have a budding interest in horseback riding; I'm getting older and not able to hike around like I used to. I'm wondering if trail riding could be an answer for me.

mad bess, LOL at Juan lossening Reggie's curls! Good one. :D

Thanks everyone; so glad you're still enjoying the show.

Connie, if the current recappers want to do Soy Tu Vieja, then others would need to step in, I assume.

Jeri: Fabulously funny title! Great recap and straight to the point. Thanks!! I always envy those who can say so much in half the space, cuz it's darn sure I cannot. 8 ? / Thanks to Connie for posting for Jeri.

Well, I caught it on the link and then managed to set the DVR. So Friday's show should not slip by me and the recap will be there one way or another.
=========
Anon. 9:55PM : Yep, we're still watching, at least with one eyelid open. ; ? ) Most of us CS recappers are in the eastern half of the country and it puts a strain on those of us who have to get up early to get to work or who have overnights away from a place that gets Univision and who have to play catchup. Anyway, this tn is only half over and the good part of the story is just beginning. Lots of twists and turns before it's over. I plan to continue following it. ; ? )
=========
Mad Bess: I see true love has prevailed as your hub is performing part of his husbandly duties by recording the shows for you. LOL!! ; ? ))
==========
Carlos, you can catch up quickly if you have Ibbaramedia/Aribeth's links from last weekend's comments, and you'll not miss a thing then. Glad to see you'll be back to give Juan & Co. hell with us.

Recappers, thank you so much for continuing to do a marvelous job, despite the time change. I have to get up early and am glad to have a recap to look forward to every morning!

Aribeth: Let me also compliment you on your excellent command of English. I read your comments for months and had no idea English wasn't your native language! I hope you'll have an opportunity to visit the States sometime!

Jeri: I watched the link and it seemed fine. You caught it all.

Anita, nice to see you. :-)

Jardinera, oh, good; thank you! Using the online version was really convenient. I think it has the "Canal de las Estrellas" logo on it.

And I'm so glad you will be sticking with us. I'm sure Aribeth will repost links or direct to current posts when somebody needs it; she is a source.

Connie, thanks so much for posting this.

Jeri, a fabulous recap from title to finish. One of the many reasons I savor your summaries is that it's evident you thoroughly enjoy the show! You notice all of the details and always convey the emotional components so well.

I did wake up to watch this. I enjoy the performances many of which meld well together no doubt due to the fact the actors have worked together previously as many of you noted.

It's interesting that although Leonarda has committed heinous acts,I'm directing most of my resentment toward Rod. Although that's probably not fair as Leo is a murderer, liar and at lesat equally as vile. Perhaps it may be in part because she is Renato's mother (God help him).

I like Regina's grit and determination although her constant monitoring of Aimee is a trifle tiresome at times. She holds her own with Juan, a fact that has not escaped him either.

So, what will Arcadio do with Constanza's note? I'm sad that it's fallen into his hands but I'll be optimistic the truth will come out eventually. I have to admit I will somewhat enjoy his toying with Leo now that he knows yet another of her secrets.

Sylvia, thanks for your support on Univision essentially banishing this from the prime time line up. I feel it was a slap in the face to those of us who watch and especially to the recappers who give so much time and effort. I am hoping the recappers continue if they can, they are greatly appreciated.

Aribeth, I look forward to seeing your pictures. I enjoyed all the comments about loosening Regina's curls! More romance please.

Diana

Do we have any nights that we know for sure don't have recappers?

Diana, thank you, and I do enjoy the show. You, however, are a real fan, getting up in the middle of the night to watch!

That is true; I think I also paint Rodrigo blacker than Leonarda, and he's actually a nicer person than she.

But I think he should know better, where she was born wrong, I think. So it's harder to blame her. She and Aimee seem to be cut of the same cloth, though Aimee has yet to poison or imprison anyone.

Regina dogging Aimee's every step is rather obsessive; I think it's her obsession with Renato rather than her sister. She's as good in the obsession department as Juan.

Jeri, you're fabulous. I simply could not stay awake for this, but I'll try again tonight and now thanks to you, I won't have missed a thing. "...Fiera Madre" indeed! I have always enjoyed your comments but your recaps are superb.--AgnesNJ

I'm not watching CS any more because I have to get up at 5:00. So, I'm really hope the recaps don't stop!!!

lady xoc, thank you. :-) And Beth or anybody, the recap was taken from a video of episode 49 online.

Thank you Jeri for the excellent recap. Thank you Connie for assisting Jeri with posting it.

Love the title -- definitely works for the episode.

After seeing Arcadio move the chest around the dungeon living quarters a number of times, finally the writers have Arcadio sift through and read the letter from Constanza to her daughters.

Okay, now I'll go to YouTube and watch it on line. I didn't watch last night. I was tired and went to bed early.

Jody :)

Thank you for the kind words, ladies! :-) You make me blush.

Thanks, Jeri! Great recap and lemme repeat what's been said, like the title too! :)

Thanks, Jeri, for the quick great recap and funny title and thanks, Connie, for the posting.
Since I'm in CA your recap was up before midnight so it was a treat to read it to help me understand the episode.

As Jeri mentions, Leo and Arcadio are an entertaining pair even though there is a huge ewww factor there. Can we say repulsive. Whoever designed the hair, makeup and Planet of the Apes costume for Arcadio deserves an award, Funny how it was 30 years or so before he opened the chest in that room. It would have just taken two days for me at the longest. Wasn't it locked and that is why Clemencia had the key. I guess he kicked it open.

I wonder when the wood market will crash and old Rod goes down, figuratively and maybe literally.

There were just two short snippets of previews for the next episode on Uni since it is so busy making money with the many commercials. YouTube seems to have better and longer previews.

GinCA

OT: has anyone watched novelas on esmas? Is it a safe download?

Loved the recap Jeri. Jimena bent down so low I was afraid she would have a wardrobe malfunction. Also, I saw a commercial for Soy Tu Duena. I guess Uni isn't going to put CS back into the 9 p.m. timeslot. This really stinks.

Jardinera:
"I hope you'll have an opportunity to visit the States sometime!"
Thank you! When I was a kid I visited New York and Cleveland with my parents, I liked both cities. I'd like to travel to New Orleans one day.

Cielo de Levy:
I think the videos on esmas are safe since that's the official page of the Telerisa telenovelas. However, I never was able to play them, because they're reserved for Mexicans. Geobanning sucks. I hope you'll have more luck with them. :-)

When will Duena start? If anyone quits and nobody wants to step in, as an ultimate (very, very ultimate) solution I can recap from June after I finished my exams. My favourite part starts from episode 70-75 anyway. But I hope my participation won't be needed and there'll be volunteers.

The commercial just said coming soon so not sure when "coming soon" is. It's be nice to know so we can get it all lined up.

Nice job, Jeri! I love you guys...you're all terrific & though I'll never stay awake 'til midnight to watch, I know the faithful team at Caray will keep me up to speed & LOLing all the way through. And such teamwork! Connie tags & Jeri's IT!

Maggarita
:-)

p.s. did I read correctly that Soy tu Duena (aka STUD) will be on at 9 est with TBLMOE??? Bestill my corazon. He is
just
so
fine. [sigh]

I just discovered I can see this show at 9:00 on a different Univision channel, not my local one. I am on the west coast (Oregon). I was so happy to be able to watch it as I have no way to record. If you do lose recappers I might be willing to try - don't know how good of a job I could do since I can't record and play back, but maybe something would be better than nothing.

I think this show is a lot of fun with the period stuff and the way it is so colorful. I was dismayed at the time change, too, and don't understand it.

Ivy

Thank you for the wonderful recap Jeri! I thought this episode was kind of slow - until I read the recap! I guess there was a lot I missed not knowing the language.

I had to laugh at the Doctor's "examination" of LuLu. I thought maybe he was a psychic doctor because the whole exam consisted of taking her blood pressure and looking at her from arm's length. I also laughed when Rodrigo returned to the town house. The tiny old woman servant struggled in ahead of him carrying his heavy (wooden) suitcase. I guess being Lord of the Manor doesn't involve shlepping your own bags.

I'm thinking that Arcadio may not live long if he tries blackmailing Leo yet again. She's having a hard enough time keeping him at the finca as it is with Renato wanting him gone. It may be easier for her to just get rid of him. I wonder if Mirta is some kind of relative of Arcadio's? She has to be someone's relative or why is she there?

Jeri, I have a friend who wanted a horse for all her grown up years. She finally got one a few months ago and she is having a blast trail riding everywhere. My advice is to take a riding lesson or two to see if you like it.

Ivy, thanks for your offer; I'm sure it would be great! I like the period aspect, too.

xlntperuvian, I had to laugh at the doctor, too: "psychic doctor!" I love it. It was so perfunctory, it had to be just to introduce him to the girls. Lulu could still be pregnant, I guess. It should have been his first guess, considering. But they probably just wanted to drop the hint and have us forget about it.

Yes! Leonarda has already thought about getting rid of Arcadio. A coffin could be in his future. I never wondered about Mirta, but that is interesting. They usually have tribes of servants around places like that, but what María del Rosario said to her makes her a little special.

Well, I was never the horse-crazy girl; but I am a big fan of critters. And lately, I have been finding myself looking almost as much at the horses in historical productions as the characters. I watch to see how they handle situations and their reactions and such.

So, I have been keeping my eye on the new equestrian center the county is opening up here. They bought quite a big creekside parcel of woods and clearing. I'm keeping it in mind, since I can't hike any more.

Jeri: I didn't notice any other major differences beyond the previews. There was one exchange between Aimee and Renato, I think, that you didn't cover, but I just assumed it was more "blah blah blah Aimee's lines Renato's lines" filler and you didn't have any reason to.

I second the notion of taking a ride or two if you can! I just got home from the barn a couple of hours ago, myself - can't afford my own horse, but luckily there's a place ten minutes away I can take lessons at. I actually rode there when I was in school, had to stop for various reasons, and finally got back a few years ago. We ride (mostly) American Saddlebreds, which are one of the oldest (if not the oldest) surviving breed to be developed wholly in the States - and since we do costume classes at some of our shows, there are tons of opportunities to do some nice historic dress-up! I haven't gotten around to doing women's Victorian yet, but it's on my list. (We also have a Friesian - see: Capricho - who I'm dying to get into some medieval gear, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen now that it seems as if there's a hitch in an ownership transfer. I've gotta find out what's going on with that, because he's gorgeous.)
