Corazon Salvaje April 8, 2010 Are You My Enemy?
MdR is on the loose. Nobody will help me except for Rod.
Juan and Renato and Remigio are at Paraiso. Remigio has to go and he and Juan act like they don’t know each other. Juan is surprised by Renato’s generosity. He was very fortunate and he wants to help those less fortunate. Juan looks confused. He’s running out of people to hate. The first house is ready. Let’s go have a look.
Tonight:
Back at the Finca, Rod is talking about Regina. Noel is disgusted with the whole thing. After Aimee and Renato’s wedding he’ll deal with her.
MdR finds the keys dropped by Orca. Oh look, something shiny! Uh oh!
Renato and Juan return to the house. Renato wants to know if Juan liked his project. Juan says it is a very ambitious project. He finally tells him that his name is Juan San Roman. Renato realizes he is the one that Rod had an altercation with in town.
Leo announces that Renato saw Aimee’s wedding dress. Oh the horror! Rod and Noel look at her like she is a whack job, which, of course, she is. Rod is sick of Leo’s superstitions. She is predicting doom and gloom for the marriage. Noel wants him to back off of his daughters and to be more fair.
Juan asks Renato if that changes his opinion of him. Juan explains the situation to him. Nobody insults my parents. What would you do if you were in my place? He mumbles something I don’t catch. Juan smiles that special smile of his so it must have been a good answer. He thinks Renato is doing a fine job. Renato tells him it is a dream he had with his friend Regina when they were children.
MdR has the keys and is letting herself out. She stops and says she can’t abandon her son. She goes back for the rag baby.
This is why I built Paraiso. To keep promises. You are a man who keeps his word.
Regina and Aimee are coming out of the house when they spy Juan. Regina pushes Aimee back in the house. Renato introduces him to Regina. Oh yeah, I know him. He’s the one that attacked my father. Juan says that Renato saved his life. He shakes Renato’s hand. Regina snubs him. He tells Renato he is indebted to him for saving his life. He grabs Regina’s hand and kisses it. Regina looks at him like he has cooties. Juan leaves.
Regina wants to know how he saved his life. He explains. Renato has a funny feeling that he knows this man from somewhere before.
Leo and Rosie are coming down the staircase of doom. Leo is going somewhere and doesn’t want Rosenda to go with her. Rosenda thinks she is nervous. Where is she going in such a hurry. Hmmm.
Aimee wants to go after Juan but Regina says no way, no how. She reminds her of her promise regarding Renato.
Juan is ranting that he must get even with Rod for killing his parents and for abandoning him in the jungle like a dog. Pedro says he has to tell Juan something -- Leo is the one that abandoned you in the forest. Juan looks impactada Now he knows who to blame. His own aunt, his own blood. Looks like his Death List is getting pretty short.
Leo heads to the gypsy camp to pay Griselda for her tarot reading the other night. Oh and by the way, since I’m in the neighborhood could we look at the cards one more time?
Rod runs into Dr. Pablo in town. Rod makes it very clear that the only way he is welcome in their house is in his capacity as doctor and NOTHING MORE. Pablo is heartbroken.
Leo is told a man that she loves will have serious problems. Griselda tries to wrangle more money out of Leo. Another man comes out of the past. Leo looks a little worried.
Gabe gives Juan a note. He is being summoned to Havana. Juan tells Gabe to get the ship ready and that they will be heading to Europe after Cuba. Gabe is bummed because he won’t see Estrella again.
Jimena is thinking about Gabe. Does he think of me or of Estrella? Griselda shows up to ruin the day. She says the lady from last night came back. All she cares about is the love of one man. I am going to help her. Jimena wants to know what she is going to do. Griselda says it doesn’t matter because all that matters is the money. FF>>
Orca comes back looking for his keys. He finds that MdR is gone. He kicks the mute girl. Meanwhile MdR is wandering the beach with her rag baby. Remigio sees her,
Back at the Can Can’t Club Jimena is crying about losing Gabe. Lulu says love is not an illusion it is pure and clean. FF>>
Someone has discovered the fire. Ful says they need to find out who is coming to the cave.
Fed is talking to someone who opens the door and Eliosa is waiting in bed for Fed.
Orca finds MdR and roughly grabs here. Remigio says not so fast buddy. Leave her alone. Orca, using his one brain cell, says she is his wife. Remigio doesn’t believe him. He says he didn’t know Orca had a wife. Orca says to leave them in peace. Remigio looks worried.
Ful gets home looking for Eloisa. There is a note saying she is out with Aimee shopping. I don’t think he believes it.
Fed and Eloisa are doing the wild thing.
Orca slaps MdR and the mute runs up and tries to stop him. He whips out a pitchfork and tells her next time he is going to kill both of them. He stomps out. I sure hope there is an anvil in his near future. MdR tells the mute girl that for one moment she was happy.
Regina is telling Celestina how she wants to help Aimee. She swears in the name of her mother she will help her. Is it me or does that dress glow in the dark?
Gabe tells Jimena he is leaving for Havana and then to Europe. Then you will be gone for good? Estrella is sick and won’t see me. And you? Do you think of me? He says he thinks of her. He asks her not to cry. We are the best of friends. It is better than nothing. He wants her to give a letter to Estrella. She turns away with a tear, she turns back and kisses him. She breaks away and runs. He looks stunned.
Back at the Can Can’t Club we are treated to a really terrible belly dancing number. Where is Shakira when you need her? The whole gang is there. Renato and Rod show up. Rod wants to know where the guy is that attacked him. Ful fills him in on his little “test” to see if he was the one that robbed their shipment.
Raul thinks they should be enjoying the dancers. You can’t be serious?
Aimee is sneaking out to go look for Juan but is busted by Regina. Don’t bother me. I’m going to the beach to look at the sea. R-i-g-h-t Regina more accurately believes she is looking for Juan’s boat.
Juan is preparing to leave and looking at the terrible picture of his dad. He says he can’t do anything he promised his father.
Aimee wants Regina to stop worrying about her. She is going to marry Renato. Regina is still afraid she’s going to hurt Renato. Look me in the eye, why can’t you tell me the truth. Aimee is just plain sick of it and wants her to leave her alone. Regina is defending her happiness with Renato. She wants them to be happy. Aimee hates Renato. With all of her soul.
Juan is ready to leave. He wants to know why Gabe is so sad. I’ll miss Estrella. I promise you that you will return to Estrella. The ship sails. He is saying good-bye forever. Gabe is thinking about Jimena and Estrella. Jimena reads the letter and cries. Juan is thinking about Aimee and remembering their times together.
The next day Aimee is looking for Juan. She’s told that he sailed last night. Aimee looks devastated. What will I do without your kisses, without your caresses? What will I do without you? I say suck it up sister and get over it.
The girls are taking a break. Lulu would like to find a man that loves her and would protect her. The other girls try giving advice to Lulu. Because after all, they are so up on that subject.
The ship arrives in Cuba. Juan is going to the office.
Noel is talking to Renato about his Paraiso project. He is glad that Renato remembers he swore to find Juan. He wants to search for him. He wants to keep his promise. Noel wants to help him. Tell me about him. Mom says he was a bastard. Who was he and why were you worried about him?
Everything is in order and they will be leaving for Europe. Gabe brings him news about a shipment of wood. Juan says they are changing their plans. Gabe doesn’t get it (like what else is new). Vengeance--at whatever price.
Jimena is entertaining the crowd and collecting money. She thinks she sees Gabriel. Nope. She is still thinking about him.
Gabe says the ship is waiting. Juan says they are going back to Vera Cruz. Gabe is relieved.
Tomorrow:
Juan goes back for Aimee. Gabe dreams of Estrella. Aimee is dressed for the wedding.

Oh, yes, that's a recipe for a successful marriage. And I bet she'd still try to push Reggie to Feddy the Fop if she thought it'd get the good sister out of her hair.
Renato and Regina, on the other hand, make such a cute couple with their little almost-matching hats. (Aimee, meanwhile, is just a couple. Or is that Rosenda? Cough, cough.)
I don't know that I'd call what Fed and El-ho-isa were doing the wild thing. He seemed about as enthusiastic as a pet rock (or, alternately, as enthusiastic as Regina would be if he ever got her into his pants).
So the unilinguality and I have no idea what the Orca was saying to MdR when he finally hauled her off the beach, of course, but just going off the way he was handling her at that point, it looked like he was faking concerned gentility to throw Remi off - which is even creepier than his usual M-O, if you ask me. Also: Now we have an answer to the question, "What's even worse than being Arcadio's sekkrit lover? Being Arcadio's wife." (Doesn't matter that she's not. It's the thought that counts for running away screaming.)
I cannot believe that Gabe hasn't put two and two together on Estrella and Jimena yet. I'm willing to give him a semi-pass on veiled-facial, vocal, and hand-le recognition, because I'm no good at those things myself, but this is telenovelaland, and he can't identify the kiss of his one twoo lover? (Actually, I almost thought he had it there when he started gaping at her, but if he did, you'd think it would have come up before the end of the episode - if he didn't thought-bubble it to himself or flail at Juan during all that free time they must have had on the ship, surely the narrator would have had something purple and prosey to say about it.) And what in the bloody 'ell was that thing on his head when he came off of said ship? Did we miss the mast falling down and trying to whomp some sense into him?
I have to say I loved Juan in his brown suit. It sure makes his shoulders really wide. Remigio is quite the manly man isn't he. I've never seen him in anything before but I like him.
"Juan looks confused. He’s running out of people to hate."
"Looks like his Death List is getting pretty short."
"Where is Shakira when you need her?"
"I say suck it up sister and get over it."
:)
"...oh, look, something shiny..."
"...regina looks at him like he has cooties..."
"...btw since I'm in the neighborhood, look at the cards one more time.." and
"...anvil in near future..." -- I'll get ACME on the phone. Maybe they'll throw in a safe, too.
Juan was indeed looking good in this episode. Cave living just doesn't do him justice. He looked amazing, clomping away from the finca steps on that huge steed -- after he kissed Regina's hand and winked at her. I had to laugh when he winked. Ah, many pleasures to come.
(Federico runs into "Isaura," the dressmaker at a bedroom back of her shop, where Eloísa has paid in advance.)
I think Fulgencio believes the wife's note at this point; after he read it, he only remarked that women are forever concerned about clothes.
And the three actresses are not good belly dancers; even the director knows it. He never lets the camera rest on them very long, but keeps cutting in and out so viewers won't see.
Maybe Maria del Rosario will not appear to Rodrigo again; she's now convinced not he nor anyone can help her. I wonder how that will play out. Will she try Rodrigo again -- or something else?
"Remigio" (Luis Gatica) played the villain in "La Mentira," as I mentioned before; and I just remembered he played a crooked doctor in "Sin Pecado Concebido," too. He's been in a lot of stuff.
Huh, Rodrigo is truly worried about Regina's future, thinks Federico cares about her and will make a good husband. He seems truly interested in his fatherly duty, however misguided. And Rodrigo seems to be back on good terms with Noel. Oops, Rodrigo plans to lock Regina up as soon as Aimee's wedding is over, until she does what he wants.
Crazy as Leonarda's supersitions are, she is right about the marriage being doomed; I wonder what the men will think when the crazy woman turns out to have been correct.
Well, at least Renato knows Juan's side of the church-steps story. I was angry at Rodrigo myself; he had no right to tell anybody who can be in church. Regina was so relieved Juan had a reason besides Aimee to be present at the finca; and Renato claims he must know that fellow from somewhere. I wonder how long it will take him to remember Juan.
How does Pedro know that it was not Rodrigo who abandoned baby Juan in the forest -- but rather Leonarda? Maybe Clemencia told them all the story; I forget. Anyway, Juan adds this up and it dawns on him that Leonarda, his aunt, knew exactly who he was when Noel brought him to the farm years ago.
And that's why she was so wary of him and wanted to get rid of him. This is bound to engender even more hatred of Leonarda in Juan; could be bad for her.
And I think Leonarda is going to be seeing more of the aunt and her tarot cards; the woman promised her she'd show her how to get her man, but warned her about someone out of the past who wants to hurt him. Later the aunt warns Jimena she'd better not tell how they plan to bilk Leonarda. Would Jimena tell her anyway? The warning makes me wonder if Jimena will say something.
So Juan is taking off for Cuba to handle his rum and tobacco imports, and I wonder what he means later on when he has plans concerning the lumber market and revenge -- he must mean Rodrigo again, and I'll be interested to see how he does that.
Arcadio tells Remigio on the beach that the veiled woman is his wife, so maybe this story will get back to Juan and work as a red herring, throwing Juan off the track of his mother for a while longer. Arcadio's terrible treatment of his prisoners is definitely a black mark on the character; Maria del Rosario knows it, too, even as crazy as she is. When she picked up the keys, she called them the keys of the man who mistreats her. It might bode well for her rehabilitation that she still has some sense.
At the club, now Rodrigo is suspicious of Raúl defending Juan. First Fulgencio and now Rodrigo is suspicious of him. His days as a spy are numbered.
As soon as Aimee sees Juan, she can't keep her promise to cling to Renato; and I can't blame her. She's really stuck on Juan. Renato didn't need to see her in the wedding dress to have a rotten marriage. Back at his house, Juan agonizes that he can't hurt Aimee either. What will they do next, I wonder; it looks like they haven't seen the last of each other. It's putting a real strain on the twins' relationship again. I hope Aimee doesn't do something worse to Regina when Regina tries to stop her. No thanks to Clemencia for egging Regina on.
So, Lulu won't give up her dream of finding a good man to love her, despite warnings from the other two girls that men are jealous and possessive and won't forgive the attentions of other men. Well, I think viewers know what good man Lulu is talking about. Curious to see how that develops.
Noel's conversation with Renato was rather sweet; I agree the two actors are well cast as father and son. I was thinking the other day that Renato looks something like his father; not sure why. Interesting topic Renato brought up about the only promise he never kept, because of Rodrigo's threat to withold Aimee -- regarding the one to find and include Juan. When Renato asks who Juan really is, I had to wonder how long it will be before he finds out. But Noel doesn't tell him in this episode.
Fulfgencio has a sword tucked into his walking stick...anyone else think Fed is going on a quick trip to Shish-Ke-Bobville? Fifi will miss him, Regina not so much. And I wish Jimena would realize that Gabe is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
xlntperuvian, Fulgencio does keep brandishing that secret sticker -- and Federico is the most likely candidate, IMO, too.
IIRC, it was Raúl who told Juan that Rodrigo got money for a lumber deal, lumber which somehow belonged to the villagers. So that's why they pirated the ship.
I like Rosenda's new look, with the peasant blouses, although the bare shoulders thing was nice, too.
The three "ladies" may not be the best dancers, but the guys in the audience (in the saloon and in the home audience) are mainly looking at their outfits (or lack thereof), which were very pleasing.
Eloisa is very sexy, even if she's not as beautiful as some of the others. She paid that dress lady to let her use the dress ladies's house as a trysting place.
I think Jimena is hoping that Gabe will fall in love with her as Jimena, and forget about Estrella.
Lulu, of course, has her sights on Noel, and despite what the other girls said, it's possible Noel could forgive her for her lifestyle, and love her for who she is inside.
I have felt quick flashes of sympathy for Aimee, believing she's lost Juan forever. I would be heartbroken too! But, the sympathy quickly evaporates because Aimee is marrying Renato not only without love, but with loathing, despite the full realization Regina loves him.
MdR's late night rendezvous (and subsequent Orca capturings) are getting harder to watch. I'm afraid he's going to lose his temper and hurt her.
Fed's being careless. Fulgencio will get suspicious if he hasn't already. After all, he certainly wasn't born yesterday. :)
Diana
I have 2 lap dogs (Boxer and a Pit)--at least they think they are lapdogs. Stormy the boxer always goes into her woo, woo, wooo deal just as the show is starting.
The Shakira reference was superb.
"Remigio is quite the manly man isn't he. I've never seen him in anything before but I like him."
Oh, yeah, the same here. Remigio for president.
I like Lulu's storyline. She seems to be a really lovely girl.
Poor MdR. I'm with Mad Marley Grey, the mere thought of her being Arcadio's so-called "wife" makes me dizzy.
The brief encounter between Juan, Renato and Regina is one of my favourites. I liked her tone as she said "yeah, whatever, I know him, because as I recall this son of a bitch ATTACKED my daddy", and Juan's little wink was also nice.
Regina carries on wearing her cupcake senorita dresses. This one was bearable, she looked like a strawberry.
"I say suck it up sister and get over it." We were tracking on that sentiment, amiga!
Ok. Did the C team take over for the A team of writers last night? Juan telling Gabe he'd be back to see his
Estrella while he's saying good-bye forever to the place gave me a WTF? couch moment last night. Doesn't anybody proof-read their scripts? Maybe I just missed some nuance here......
