Gancho Wed April 14 - Work/Blog/Life Balance Counselor Needed

For your Recapper.....

I just now finished a project I have been working on all day and I simply can't manage any more typing or focusing for that matter, so I'll try hard to post this later. I have not been very good at time management lately, so I welcome all tips. 'Course it's hard to manage time if you simply don't have any!! :) Sigh....I want to escape to Gancholandia in the worst way right about now, but I'll simply have to wait...feel free to post your comments here until I can get up to speed. Trust me though, it's good to be working a lot. Really. Hope you all are well!

Oh and Happy Tax Day...you guessed it, I still have mine to do!!! :)

Well, Mike and Emilia's wedding bells are catching. Cutest scene of yesterday's episode was the "arrest" of Paula and Christian's proposal. Just another reason why this telenovela is so much fun.

And gosh, Sylvia, sorry about the voices in your mother-unlaw's head. I've been reading about the problem of drug interactions in the elderly. The pharmaceutical companies test these drugs on 30-year-olds for a few months and then they're prescribed to the elderty who take them for years and years. Crazy thinking.

Kris, hope your day goes well.

I heard this morning that Starbucks is offering free coffee if you byoc D(bring your own cup). Some restaurants: IHOP, Boston Market are offering discounts. So, if you need some caffeine to get help you tackle those tedious taxes, grab a cup and head on down.

So, Chris finally proposed! I'm glad for Paula (and of course for Chris). Sounds like it was great fun.

What?!? I must have fallen asleep during the show last night. I don't remember the wedding. Shoot! I will definitely have to rewatch today/tonight before I do my recap. So I guess Tano's little plot worked, eh? This is the Gancho I love, wrap it up in one episode.

Kris, no worries amiga. We know you do your work for the betterment of humankind so you just keep on doing what you have to do and your fans in Gancholandia will wait.

Taxes, gah! This year for the first time I hired someone to do mine for me. I just didn't have enough time. It was the best money I spent this year.

Judy, I have been thinking about Joan (m-u-l's name) all night. She is in hospital on some pretty strong anti-seizure drugs, pain meds and other stuff, the combo must really be messing with her mind. She has always been so alert that it's very distressing to interact with someone I'm not sure I know. I hope it's temporary. Interesting though, the only times she kind of perked up or seemed to understand me was when I made a joke about something. She got the humor just fine. You make an interesting point about testing meds. I didn't know that's how it was done.

Ah, taxes. I did mine two months ago online. Good luck Kris!

I was also glad to see our show get back to some one episode resolutions. And Paula was looking mighty fine last night as her man proposed to her. Every girl wants to look her best in that moment, and Paula's fetching below the knee pencil skirt and halter blue/green top fit the bill. She must be taking lessons from Gabi on how to dress to flatter your figure and look professional at the same time. Why didn't she give Moni that lesson when she was working at Grupos Sermeno?

Speaking of the Monkey. I was pretty ready to throttle her in the ring myself yesterday when she kept giving Mau dirty looks over Dani's head and accusing him of using his kids to get to her. The fact is, she has been neglectful of those kids. She told them she'd always be there for them and that she loves them, and yet, she never makes an effort to see them. It shouldn't matter what's happening between her and Mau. If they were her blood children, that wouldn't stop her from seeing them. And Dani was so excited. How could Moni let anything other than joy and love enter her heart at that moment? Bad Monkey!

Kris, good luck on the taxes. I hope your post office stays open for you or you e-file. I think they said that here the post office was not going to stay open like they usually do because so many people are e-filing now.

Sylvia, the wedding should be today, you get to do it!

Besides Moni, most times I don't think Mau pays much attention to the kids either. And you would think there would be a little more concern about Aldo, there is some. It was up to Danny today to wonder why Aldo was not there.

Sylvia: My thoughts and prayers are with you. A very painful situation for Joan and all of you who love her. It is encouraging that she can recognize and enjoy humor. Amiga, I can think of few with as sharp and wonderful a wit as you.

Wishing her and all of you the best.

Diana

Thanks y'all. I hope that Joan will soon be her old self again soon. You folks are the best.

And hey, I get to do the wedding? Hooray!!

Sylvia, just from your description, it sound like this is more of an acute toxicity that Joan has and I would bet that she will be fine once the proper dosage of her medication has been achieved.

I am likewise annoyed at Moni for her attitude, but also think it was thoughtless of Mao to bring Dani to begin boxing lessons on the day of Moni's big fight.

Cris' proposal and Pau's acceptance was very sweet. At least something good is happening.

Will today be the day of the Great Escape? I'm more that ready. I'm running out of names for Oscar's Hateful Hideaway.

The whole thing with Paula and Cris reminded me of the "old days" when things were resolved so quickly. Tano had a plan. He "proposed" to Paula in full view of Cris. Cris had one pep talk from Ivan, where we learned he was afraid of marriage because his parents' marriage didn't work out. But he got his courage together, and proposed to Paula, she doing some joke about esposas, which means both handcuffs and wives. And one day later, the wedding!

Also, they had a bunch of scenes to show the passage of time, so that Moni and Momia's fight is tonight! However, I think "tonight" is going to last several episodes.

I hope we find out the truth about Lobo. So far, I keep switching back and forth between thinking he's too tricky, to thinking he's caught between la espada y la pared. Well, we'll have to see.

Sylvia...your remark about humor reminded my of my mom's situation for many years. She had senile dementia, sometimes didn't recognize me when I came to visit and forgot that I had visited the minute I left. BUT....she could still crack wise and still laugh if I made a funny remark. Her sense of humor was unaffected by her confusion and memory problems.

Alas, she was also very critical of others' appearances (especially weight), and since she'd become hard of hearing as well, she'd say unflattering things about others and when you'd try to shush her she'd growl..."
Ahhh, she can't hear me!"

Alas "she" could and often did. We had to change nursing homes at one point, because Mom had pretty well alienated everybody at the old one.

Tough times.

Way to go, Tano! He thought of a good scheme that not only worked but got him a few smooches for his troubles. As a bonus, he actually got to move his face into an expression at one point! I was beginning to think it was frozen.

Mau and Moni are both negligent parents. These poor kids have been abandoned and neglected most of their lives; they really need more attention and quality family time than kids who have always been in stable situations with their same families, yet Mau seems to think a few minutes of hugs every few days is enough. And even if Moni can't stand Mauricio, she should make arrangements to see the kids. Luisa and Dani could meet her somewhere.

Super rude of Mau to spring Dani on Monita the day of her big fight, though. Most good athletes I know have very specific competition-day routines and do not take well to having their concentration and preparations disrupted.

I don't know what to think about Lobo. He really seems stuck in a bad situation, but he survived just fine while he was away from Mexico. Why would he come back, knowing he had these goons waiting to settle a score?
