un Gancho al Corazón Mon.4/5/10 Valentina Dances With Wolf

So gang, we've reached capitulo numero 200. Seems like only yesterday that we began this joyous journey. Let's proceed.

In the barrio patio, Mauricio has come to share good news with Estrella. "You've found Aldo?" Estre is hopeful. No, not that good news, but he has the proof to prove to Moni that he and Estre are innocent of any hanky panky. His cell phone rings. It's the porky detective. He's located Aldo. He's staying in a cabaña in Ajuzco. Now that is very good news. Estre hugs Mao and at just that exact moment (timing is everything) Moni rounds the corner and spots them. Oops. Oops again, because from out of nowhere, a pistol, with Oscar at the other end, cocks and is aimed at our detective's head. This could be a setback for the good guys. Oblivious, Mao follows Estre into her apartment as Moni, her heart in tatters, sadly watches.Coni's having another mother daughter chat with Jaqui. Coni tells her that she'll be needing a new place to live when she returns from Italy since she's selling the house. Jaqui ignores this and brings up Groupo Sermeño. She knows that Mao is back in charge. Coni couldn't care less, she's selling her part to Daddy. Jaqui is aware that she's gathering the money to settle up with Jero. Coni ushers Jaqui and shuts the door. She doesn't look happy.

Back in the Boondocks, Oscar, flanked by his toady Jerónimo, holds the pistol at the head of our chunky detective's head. He wants to know with whom he was talking on the phone. Jero correctly guesses that it was his cousin on the other end. Oscar dismisses a worried Jero, "What are you going to do with him?" and orders the detective back into his car. We barely got to meet this guy, don't even know his name, and now it looks as though he will soon be abruptly departing the show. Dang.

Nieves and Marcos are seated at her table. She no longer looks like a derelict geisha. He invites her to come with him to the reinauguration party at Groupo Sermeño. She eagerly agrees. He will have a surprise for her, a question to ask. She tries to guess but he insists that she wait. As he gets up to leave, she offers her hand which he kisses. Then they playfully rub noses. He leaves, Nieves rejoices with a little victory dance, and Beto emerges looking very un-naco in shirt and tie. She pumps Beto for more information and after her appeal to him as his mom, he confirms her hopes, telling her that yes, "He asked me for your hand." she swoons, he eases her to the bed complaining that she will cause him to have a hernia.

Marcos has yet more business in the 'hood. He drops in on Isabel. As she opens the door, he bursts in and takes a seat. He has heard that the Dr. has told her that she doesn't have long to live. She rightly surmises that this must be good news for everyone. He appeals to her to open her heart and show love for Monita. She rejects this so he dispenses with charm and goes right for the throat. Actually he whispers in her ear, giving us a glimpse of the source of some of Coni's social skills, "Soon you will be dead and I will then have lots of time to get close to Valentina and to undo all this harm you have done. Your life has been useless." At this point (well after a few commercials) Monita comes in and orders him to leave. At this point the snake morphs into a crippled lamb and cowers behind Monita as the angry monkey castigates Marcos. As he leaves, Marcos calmly and warmly tells Moni that he will see her soon and undo the damage Isabel has done. As she slams the door behind him, Issy collapses against the door, this time in genuine tears with the realization that Marcos is right. This scene is uncomfortably satisfying.

In Estre's apartment Mao assures Estre that now he will set everything right. He'll meet with the detective (good luck with that) and get all the details about Aldo and they will reveal the fraud perpetrated by Snake Lady. Mainly, is is essential that Estrella attend the fiesta tomorrow at Groupo Sermeño. Of course she'll be there.

At the Domicile of Doom, Jero's soliloquy is interrupted by Oscar. The robbing an swindling he has no problem with, but Jero feels that the killing was not in the job description. Seeing Jero taking to himself Oscar speculates that Lorenza's insanity is contagious. Jero wants to know what Oscar did with Plump PI. "I took care of him so he won't be opening his mouth again." As he makes himself a drink, hey, don't you think Jero could use one too?, He blames Jero for being careless and warns him that if things go bad, he will be in jail for a long time. Jero tries to reassure him and tells him that he reminded Constanza that it would be healthy for her to give them the money. Oscar reminds Jero that if he betrays him, "You are a dead man." Well, I'm certainly glad that we all understand how things stand.

Looking very cute in a pink nighty, Moni tries to console her mommy. She tells her they will make the most of the time she has left. Isabel(clad in cute brown pajamas dotted with daisies), whining that she doesn't want to die, wants a little more than that. She wants a promise that Moni will not allow Marcos near her once she's dead. Moni objects that she's not good at this hate thing. Marcos words, meanwhile, echo in her ear, "Your life was useless." Sweet dreams, you bitter old biddy.

It's morning on the patio and Estrella is sharing the good news with Paula. Paula notes that Estrella is beginning to show. As they rejoice they are joined by Lobo. Does this guy ever frown? Both are delighted to see him (almost as much as our Julia). Before Estrella gets too excited, Paula reminds her that Lobo is married. "Was," he corrects her. Both ladies express their regrets as each inwardly rejoices and are even happier to learn that he is hoping to stay for a couple of months in the neighborhood.

At breakfast Moni tell Isabel that she bumped into Lobo. "¿Lobo? He didn't bite you?" That's our Isabel, a laugh a minute. Moni tells her that he inspired her boxing, he is very handsome, they have a platonic friendship though they did share a kiss as children. Isabel is underwhelmed. She tells her how he met and married a girl who lived three blocks away and they ended up moving away. "So he's married?" "Nope. Divorced" Issy scowls as who then should appear at the door but Señor Wolf himself. "You look precious!" Mamá does not approve.

More commercials before Moni introduces them. He's delighted. She looks like someone farted. Before they head off to the gym Moni tells Issy that they'll eat together later. Nope. Issy will be gone for today. She must make a trip to Moroleón. After the two bounce out, Isabel grumbles to herself, "One more to keep away from Valentina."

They pass Nieves who is busy at the communal sink. She doesn't look happy to see Moni with Lobo either. She is joined by a perky Estrella who announces that Lobo is moving in. Nieves sees this as an impediment to M&M's already shaky relationship. She thinks that Lobo will influence Moni with sweet talk (engatusar... I really like this word). I think that it's safe to say that we join her in her concern.

Meintras tanto, at the Count's Condo, he tells Nice Nurse that he wants both Sal and Loriloca to remained locked in their rooms. He doesn't want either wandering about. "Don't worry, Licenciado, I'll take care of it." As he is making another drink (Oscar seems to be drinking quite a bit these days) he turns to Aldo, who asks if someone is coming, and orders him to his room as well without answering his question.

Back in his office, Mao informs Gabi that last night, Bocanegra (well at least now we know his name), the detective, called. He tells her that all he knows is that Aldo is in a cabaña in Ajuzco. Much better at algebra than Mao, Gabi calculates that he is in the clutches of Oscar and Jero.

Apparently in no hurry to get to the gym Moni and Lobo pause in he park to catch up on old times and conveniently fill us in on Lobo's troubles. He asks Moni if she remembers Jairo (Isn't he the guy who ran Las Copatonas where they had ladies' mud wrestling in Fuego en la Sangre?). She does. He was the boxing manager with ties to the Mafia (only one?), who's now in jail. (Anyone care to bet on who's gonna be gettin' outa th' slammer very soon?) Well, he ordered Lobo to take dive in the third round of his last fight with Rayo Gonzales, offering him money. "And you told him to shove it?" "No, but he threatened to make my wife disappear." "But you won that fight!" "By a TKO." After the fight he and his wife and got the heck outa Dodge. After several years and separating from his wife, he decided to return to Mexico and sniff around Moni. OK, I added that last bit.

Wow, Beto looks right at home in his new office wearing a starched light blue shirt and solid pink tie (no macho hangups for our Beto). He invites Nieves in. She is impressed and even wants to take his nameplate home. He stops her as she is placing it in her giraffe purse. He shows out by calling for capuchinos calientes, not tepid (tibios), no sugar (he's dieting) for him and his mom. Paula (his secretary) is not there but the lovely Alejandra will bring them in.

Back in the park (don't these kids need to get on to the gym?), Lobo is heart-broken. Well shut my mouth, so is Moni. "Beto?" No a new guy. "So you're single (soltera)? "Right now there's no one else in my life." He tells her that he likes her very much. She shyly blushes. Uh oh!

Back in Beto's office, Nieves is so proud (orgullosa). She gets up and goes around the desk and hugs him. He shoos her back to her chair, puts his feet upon his desk, and then very professionally asks,"How can I help you?" Dang, he's convincing. He tells her for the second time today to get Georgina (apparently giraffe purse) off the desk. She's nervous. He tells her that's natural but once she's married... No, she nervous about the return of Lobo and his interest in Moni. Beto's just happy to learn that Lobo's back in town.

Well, I think we all saw this coming. The Serpent Woman has arrived at the Count's Chalet. She thanks him for shooting her and now she has another job for him. She is dying and after she does, since she doesn't wish for Moni to be happy, "Valentina has to die." Not an unreasonable request for Satan's Spawn to make and who better to ask than Satan's envoy?

Well L&M (not the cigarette, Lobo and Monita) have arrived at the gym and since their little téte a téte has stirred up the hormones, they hop into the ring for a little sparring. They dance a little. He wants to see what she's got. He drops his guard. She demonstrates. After decking him she celebrates, pumping her fist, then drops to her knees. He's impressed. Their eyes lock. He reminds her of that childhood kiss. She remembers. He offers to show her what he's learned. He moves in. She leans forward expectantly. We gasp... time for a commercial break.

She must have thought better of it during the timeout because even though close... no beso for you, Wolfboy! Too soon. Besides, he's her idol. Nope, you guys can be friends and help each other through this tough time. He less than enthusiastic about this proposition, but agrees... "For the moment... friends." Yeah... friends. I bet it's not for nuthin' they call you Lobo. Baaa for now. We've seen your kind before.

Even Oscar is surprised by the coldness with which Isabel is facing her own death and by her desire to off her offspring. After thinking about the beauty of her selfish hate, however, surprise turns to admiration. She wants a potent untraceable poison (veneno). Not even painless, you craven old cow? He agrees.

The welcome home of Lobo continues. Costeño is happy to see him. They share man-talk with Costi telling him that he's found an insatiable woman and needs to get his strength up. Gosh, now who could he talking about? They are interrupted by a strange looking Luchador in a red dog mask, "Phone call for Costeño in Cesar's office, some Ximena." ¿Qué? Hmmm.

Lobo turns his interest back to Moni. He tells her about Jimmy's offer to train a Momia but declined when he discovered that she is training to fight Monita. Well... Moni says, "Why not?" She thinks it's a splendid idea. "She needs all the help she can get." Moni doesn't want an easy fight. "You sure? I guess we'll see each other later." "Let's eat together," Moni suggests. "Say no more!" Cesar approaches, "Hey, that was el Lobo, the world champion welterweight!" Cesar's surprised to see him back in Mexico." "Yes, and he's training la Momia." "¿Qué?" "I asked him to." "¿Qué? ¿Por qué?" "Because she's my sister and I don't want to kill her in the ring." Don Cesar is rendered speechless.

Beto is thrilled with the return of Lobo. They're pals. He expects they can pick up where they left off: cantinas, beer, dominos, cards. Nieves shouts her disapproval. Beto asks her not to shout. He's an executive after all. She's worried about Monita. Beto says that it's not as though Moni is Red Riding Hood and... Nieves thinks that's exactly the case. Moni's mad at Mao because she thinks he betrayed her with her best friend, "And what if Monita ends up telling Lobo?"

Turns out Oscar's favors come with a price tag. He want to be sure he collects. She gives him her word. He offers to show her to the door. Aldo appears. Oscar reminds him that he was to stay in his room and calls him a booger-snot kid (mocoso). "That was Monita's mom, wasn't it?" Aldo asks. Oscar warns him about meddling in his affairs. Kinda mild for Oscar, I'd say.

Hair in French braid, Coni's in Gym Jimmy ready to train. Jimmy tells her that he's lined up one of the best boxers in the world to train her but no go. She tells him that money is not a problem. Jimmy tells her that money is not the problem. As she turns to pout, Lobo swaggers up. Jimmy introduces them. She gives him a look that only our Coni can, "What will it take to change your opinion?" "For me, that smile and those eyes are enough. I came back to accept your offer. From this moment on, I'm your official trainer." He winks. She inspects her acquisition.

Carlos,

Love the title. Thanks for the link to Ajuzco. Very complete recap & helpful since I missed a couple of things. As usual you filled it with apt photos and clever lines . "Derelict Geisha" "snake morphs into crippled lamb" "counts condo" "baa for now"

Only 20 more episodes. This has been a fun ride. The writing on this one has been clever and sharp. The characters are all well drawn & well played.

Isabel keeps reaching new depths of nasty. And Marcos plot to soften her toward Moni with this fake relapse just keeps backfiring. She only gets more heartless.

One last b'ball comment. I was hoping for Butler to take it all. Ya gotta root for the team that knocked you off -- makes it seem that your defeat was caused by the gods. Ah well -- at least they gave the mighty Duke a run for their money,

Güera from Syracuse

Hi Guera...see you're up early too. Oh my, that was quite a game. Just about everybody in the fieldhouse and, I suspect, in the nation was rooting for scrappy little Butler...and they came close. God love 'em they just needed to make a few more shots.
+ + +
Now, Carlos, amigo mio, on to your most excellent recap. Love the way you write and you were having fun with alliteration too.

Still, my first love, like Guera's was "derelict geisha". That is just a great image.

Then you were off and running with alliteration, Domicile of Doom, Plump PI, bitter old biddy, Satan's Spawn and Satan's Envoy (great characterization for Oscar!)

And for some reason "no beso for you, Wolfboy" just cracked me up.

Noticed you got Julie's "booger snot-nosed kid" in there too. What's not to love?

Still hard for me to wrap my mind around is Isabel's cold hatred for Monita? If ever murderous hatred could seem gratuitous, this is it! No reason. Strange, strange, strange. At times they just seem like stage props for conflicting moral stances. One refuses to hate in spite of seemingly reasonable circumstances, the other refuses to love in spite of all kinds of reasons to do so.

Really looked forward to reading the recap this morning and you didn't disappoint, amigo. You never do. Oh, and thanks for the link to Ajuzco...very interesting. Had to chuckle at the "even folks in their seventies" trudge up the flanks of the volcano. Yes, even some of us in our seventies can still put one foot in front of the other!

And thanks for including that photo of Connie ogling Lobo. Absolutely perfect!

Cool link to Ajuzco. I was wondering where they were, I kept trying to look out their fabulous window. Judy, I also had to chuckle at "folks in their seventies", especially since a friend of mine went skiing and snowboarding with her dad of 80 last weekend. She said he kicked her butt. So there!!

Also, great shot of Oski and Isa framed by the ominous tusks. I do hope they end up sharing a duplex in hell. I swear she is pure nastiness.

Domicile of Doom...I think that may be the best description of this depressing place yet. (Of course in reality I'm sure it's quite lovely.)

Gosh, I'm bummed about the detective. I had hopes for him. How in the hell are they going to SAVE SAL and ALDO?!?!

"She looks like someone farted", hee hee, the bathroom humor gets me every time.

Wasn't the mafioso Jairo a character early on in this show? Or maybe I'm mixing it up with something else.

I agree, awesome title! I also like the pic of Coni ogling El Lobo. She's quite the loba herself.

Thanks so much Carlos, as well as this show is written and acted I always enjoy it more after I read the recaps. Yours was clever with lots of fun word-play, just like I love it!

Good morning Güera and Judy,

So Duke won it all. I was pulling for Butler and they certainly made for a dandy Cinderella. They made a noble effort. Congratulations to coach K and Duke. Tonight I'll be pulling for Stanford although the Houston Chronicle sees UConn as superior at almost every position. Should be fun. Stanford has a very talented lady, Nneka Ogwumike, from Houston playing.

So Lobo is going to coach Coni. What could possibly go wrong there?
Coni definitely devoured him with her eyes, but so far he strikes me as someone who can hold his own.

Does anyone else think that Señor Jairo will get involved in the upcoming fight? Perhaps he'll request that Monita take a dive in the third.

Looks like Aldo had best hitch up his long pants if he and Sal are to get out of this alive.

There are certainly enough things to be resolved to keep us entertained for twenty more episodes.

I'm liking the addition of Lobo. So far he seems more than capable to living up to his name.

Carlos

Carlos: You did masterful justice to this pivotal episode. I was hanging on every well written word, cringing and exaulting in turn. You kept me spellbound from title though the end. A remarkable, thoroughly entertaining recap. The picuures were a wonderful treat.

I also loved the phrases that Güera, Judy and Sylvia already noted.

We know Moni and Coni are destined for others, but Lobo and Costeño are simply too hot not to be snatched up. Fighters (almost as good as pirates). Sigh...

I'm sad that Aldo and Sal are still prisoners. In a show known for its (usually) speedy problem resolution, this is dragging on interminably.

Like our dear Cesar, I also am "rendered speechless" that Isabel wants Moni murdered. Judy, I can't fathom this latest development either. I don't think Isabel has any reason for wanting Moni dead other than pure hatred. She chose hatred over love years ago, building an impenatrable wall of venom which all of Moni's love and yearning could never breach.

How utterably sad. She could have received pure love and joy but not only rejected it, has decided to snuff it out all together. A vengeful monster.

I am going to miss this show but not as much as the wonderful recaps and comments.

Diana

Hi Sylvia and Diana,

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the recap. I'm starting to get sad that this is almost over but it has certainly been fun.

Sylvia,

I was thinking that we had heard from Jairo before. There was the Chubby gangster who tried to hold Nieves hostage to get Monita to throw a fight, but I can't remember his name. He was not a very impressive gangster, however.

Diana,

I'm glad Hombre taught me how to add the pictures so I can help you visualize what is going on. I'm also hoping that Julia enjoys the snaps of Lobo.

I wonder how long Isabel breast fed Moni. I don't think reptiles generally nurse their young.

Carlos

Like Diana, and everyone else I supppose, I am very disconcerted at Isabel's behavior. I have always held the belief that every human is capable of the best and worst of the human condition, but I honestly cannot fathom what motivates her. They say "know they enemy" but can anyone possibly know what goes on inside her reptilian head? That's why she keeps besting everyone, because nobody can fathom her evilness.

Carlos, this was a simply masterful recap, entertaining throughout, great pictures, thanks for putting a big smile on my face.

I think we're really accumulating lots of names for Oscar's place. You added "Domicile of Doom", "Count's Condo", and the "Count's Chalet" (maybe some more I missed). That place certainly has some kind of perverse charm.

Oscar does know how to take care of business. I recall that Mau had this lawyer who had discovered Oscar's dirty dealings, and Oscar shot him in cold blood in the parking garage and stuffed him into the trunk. Mau was then waiting for more info, which never came. Once again, he gets the barest of information as to where Aldo is, with more promised later. Only there may not be a later.

I still wish the Nice Nurse would call the cops, or Aldo would get a cell phone, or something. In fact, the previews make it look as if things are getting even worse, as Jero seems to catch Sal unzombied.

We have lots to look forward to, though, starting with the office party, the big boxing match, and who knows what else? As Carlos said, there are plenty of problems to resolve. I can't wait.

Judy, I really liked your comment "One refuses to hate in spite of seemingly reasonable circumstances, the other refuses to love in spite of all kinds of reasons to do so." So true, inner character is such a big part of this show. That's why Moni should give Mau more benefit of the doubt. Everyone else seems to know he's "incapaz" of betraying her. At some point, she'll have to wake up.

Carlos, I just loved the picture of Coni. She's been looking especially good recently, that's why I included several pictures of her in Friday's recap. She's another one who has to wake up, and let the tender feelings she has buried deep within (way deep) come out. Let's hope.

Yes Hombre, but it's so much easier to see Coni changing than it is to see that happening with Isabel. Coni has frequently shown us real tenderness for Beto -- even if she fights it sometimes. She's got real reasons to hate Moni & Mau. Once she gives up the vengeance she will be able to let her better self out. But Isabel? Is there any hidden better side. When the tug and pull between Issy & Moni first started I had hopes that Issy might be turned toward the light. When Moni steadfastly refused to give in to hate even when (she thought) she was grievously wronged I thought that maybe Isabel would see that pain and rejection don't automatically have to lead to hatred. I can't see that happening any more. She's just gone too far.

Speaking of the mafiosi -- wasn't there some nasty financial business that went on at the very start of this show and didn't Jero dispose of a gangster type by pushing him and his car off a cliff? Or do I have that mixed up with some other show?

Güera

Carlos, another superb recap, and of course I can't thank you enough for including those photos of my favorite telenovio. Estrella certainly looked interested in him. Might she actually move on from Aldo?

Why isn't that nurse calling for help? The others are trapped and cut off but surely she has some means of communication. Maybe she should shoot up Oscar and Jero and the guards with stupor drugs and the rest of them can take a taxi to freedom.

Beto as an executive is delightful. Who needs to know the business? Just give orders and drink cappuccinos, that is the road to success.

Didn't Jero push Coni's shrink over a cliff? He didn't die, though. I wish the shrink would make another appearance. He was funny.

There was some sort of nasty financial business that ended in some guy getting shot in a hotel lobby. Was the mafia involved in that?

Thanks for a great recap Carlos, Carlos dances with the recap. Yep, were winding down. I was thinking perhaps they were only showing it 4 times a week because they know we don't want it to end. :)

I figured the PI would get snatched. At least he told Mau a little information. Now if they can match that info up with what Xime and Arnie found out the other day.. They may be closer. Pudgy PI, we hardly knew you. "... he will soon be abruptly departing the show. Dang." I was thinking more along the line of "departing the show. Bang."

Marcos' plan with the cancer is not working very well. If they only knew how much Hissy really, really hates Moni. As everyone says, you can't even fathom that much hate. I was worried about what harm Hissy might try to do to Lobo, but Hissy decided to nip everything in the bud and go to the source and just get rid of Moni. That Lobo fart was too much for Hissy. She realized that, "hey, what's this? You mean when I'm gone Moni still may have a life and be happy!! No way! I gotta fix that. Just gotta!"

I think Jerry pushed some buddy off a cliff in the early days, when said buddy was trying to hornswaggle him financially.

And they guy shot in the lobby was trying to swindle Gabriela. But Oscar was in on it, and shot the guy pretending to rescue her, so he wouldn't tell that Oscar was a partner.

At least that's how I remember it. If Vivi has been watching from the beginning, she would know. Her memory is phenomenal.

"Sweet dreams, you bitter old biddy."
"Does this guy ever frown?"
So Lobo is a Welterweight, 147 pounds? Looks a little bigger than that.

Satan's Envoy.. Oscar (Roberto Blandón), I'm so used to him being a bad guy. On Mi Pecado, plays a halfway decent guy and does it well. I actually believe he's pretty nice. But.. last night on Mi Pecado, he came up behind his daughter when she was talking to the slimy Carmelo. I had a brief moment of she's in big trouble now, bad news in front and behind her before remembering, hey he's a nice guy here and would give her support.
Speaking of that Carmelo, he's Beto's real life brother. Hard to believe, like Beto so much and can't stand that guy. But.. I think I can see quite a few similarities. :)

Judy, great observation: "One refuses to hate in spite of seemingly reasonable circumstances, the other refuses to love in spite of all kinds of reasons to do so."

There was that guy early in the show trying to get Moni to throw fights, was that Jairo?

Diana, yes, rendered speechless. Isabel has way too much hate. Seems like she should have enough venom in herself to just bite anyone and finish them off. No need to get poison from Oscar.

Hombre and Julia, I wonder if Nice Nurse is really free to anything any more either?

Jero did try to do in his one buddy at the beginning but messed that up. Also, Jero and Oscar tried to do in the psychiatrist and failed. Back then, they seemed out of their league, but once Oscar decided to do things himself without Jero's help, things get done.

Carlos:

Thank you for a very fine recap and I appreciate the clear translation of Wolf's problems. I know he is a fine specimen, Julia, but I can't yet bring myself to care about him or his issues. I am working on it, sense he seems to be involved in the resolution of nearly every story! Do we like him for Estrella? He has children and might not mind having another? I know, I am an incorrigible matchmaker.

Oscar has just barely been dodging bullets these days. The detective's message to Mau, Nice Nurse, and now Aldo seeing Isabel all put Oscar squarely in the line of fire—I hope.

JudyB— I agree with your analysis of the Isabel-Moni plot line. Moni seems impossibly (naively) good and loving to the Vibora and Hissy is, well, just a twisted sister. her rage, whether displaced or not, doesn't make sense and I DO NOT wish to see her reconcile with Moni. A quick telenovela whitewash cannot cover the incipient rot in Isabel's personality. Gangrenous limbs are better amputated.

After yet another death added to his Gancho rap sheet, Oscar needs a special place in hell with griddle hot floor, spiked walls and none of that single-malt he downs with abandon. He is making me downright cranky.I say he doesn't get a double condo in hell—He is so self absorbed he doesn't need any company.

And wasn't there another bad Jairo (maybe the mud wrestling king from MEPS??) on the tube recently?

Carlos: I am subbing for Sylvia on Thursday. Do you mind if I e-mail you my recap for you to post? Please let me know that that is OK with you.

And on the BB note; I too will be pulling for Stanford. As it is hubby's alma mater and he kindly rooted for the Cal men it seems the least I can do. Glad you have a local girl on the Stanford team, Carlos.

My favorite moment in this show featured my new Best Friend Marcos. Carlos, you captured the moment with this, "As he leaves, Marcos calmly and warmly tells Moni that he will see her soon and undo the damage Isabel has done". I am really looking forward to that.

Best to all in Gancholandia,

EJ

Well, Elna June, I will confess that I don't care about his issues either...but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy every second he is on screen!

If he figures out what's going on with Hissabel and pounds some sense into Valentina, he will really be my hero. Val's rants at anyone who challenges her mother, WHEN SHE KNOWS VERY WELL HER MOTHER ABANDONED HER MORE THAN ONCE FOR NO GOOD REASON, are getting. really. old. Sorry for getting yelly there.

Julia,

I would really like to see Coni's shrink return. He would definitely have his work cut out for him now. Think what fun group therapy would be with our characters these days.

Speaking of shrinks, we need Elna June to weigh in again on the mental health of our characters. I'm missing her today.

Jeff,

Bang! Very funny yet tragic at the same time.

Hombre and Jeff,

Coni really seems to be dedicated to her training. She just might give Moni a run for her money now that she has Lobo in her corner. However, I do have the feeling that we're going to see more than just a straight forward boxing match with the Mafia type looming in the background.

I suspect that Jerónimo is rethinking his loyalty to Oscar and may end up helping Sal and Aldo.

Since we didn't see Oscar actually dispose of our Cherubic Gumshoe, maybe he will miraculously survive.

Carlos

Carlos: Once again you have written a fabulous recap. I'm hoping that you continue recapping after Gancho is gone because you are a natural at it.

The actor playing the detective has had a steady job on a show on cable where he plays a character called "Chef Fornica". It's strange seeing him playing a sober man.

I don't think we are supposed to care so much about Lobo but about what he will bring to the action of the next episodes. Although, there's no denying he is good at flirting.

Judy: You are right about Oscar killing that guy played by Luigi from La Fea, he was supposed to be protecting Gabriela but it had been all a scheme! I think by the time he killed that lawyer outside of Grupo Sermeño we had all forgotten he was already a murderer.

Elna June: I didn't realize Jairo was such a popular name but this show was on at the time MEPS was still on air, it would be funny to have two mobs called the same in the novelas from 8pm (Gancho) and 9 pm (MEPS).

I'm SO sorry and I'm blushing uncontrollably, the guy playing the detective is called "Chef Ornica" in his other show. They got me again with his name and how it sounds.

Jarocha

Ugh, really that is so embarasing.

“Well shut my mouth”, THAT was a good recap. Yes, “timing is everything”, and while I was late to the Gancho party, I’m sooooo glad I made it for the last, funny episodes. “The Serpent Woman has arrived at the Count's Chalet.” Well, wasn’t that the truth. Jerry, you are outmatched, be careful. Thanks Carlos, outstanding recap as usual.

I don’t think that Isabel hates Moni at all, she HATES Marcos. Don’t we pick up our papers often and see where someone has killed his former wife and their children for revenge? Isabel must be a female version of those guys, revenge at any cost. I can deal with Isabel because she is a lost soul, I just wish Moni would OPEN her eyes. She should have better sense and listen to her friends.

Are we going to have a competition inside the ring and outside the ring for Lobo? That fight might be better than the actual boxing match.

Elna June,

As you can see, I was just thinking about you. Of course I'll be delighted to post your recap. Just Email it to me as before and I'll put it right up. I'm off on Thur afternoons so I can do it as soon as you send it. I'm looking forward to seeing your next recap. Things are starting to happen.

Julia,

I share your pique with Moni. I say that Issy had her shot. She has a perfectly serviceable (if slightly flawed) daddy waiting with open arms (and apparently a few bucks as well).

Carlos

Jarocha, "Chef Fornica" is what we certainly would have started calling that character given any justification whatsoever. That is funny.

At least your typos aren't offensively vulgar like mine have been.

Jarocha,

Someone had to do it, so here's a link to Chef Ornica.

Sandy,

I too am glad you joined us here at Gancho. I always look forward to your well considered comment and our occasional good-natured verbal sparring.

Carlos

Oh my but that's a funny video on youtube. Jarocha, I'm glad you made your typo because now I "get" his name. Duh.

Elna June, thanks again for subbing on Thursday. I will very much look forward to enjoying your recap Friday morning. Thanks to Carlos for posting it.

Jarocha. Sign me up for Chef Fornica lessons too. Had we known, that could have been another name for our Chef Hawt of Querida Enemiga. He had a wandering spatula for some time before he fell for the humble heroine.
