Corazon Salvaje 6/25/10 It's a Surprise Party Complete With Musical Chairs but Fortunately No Pin the Tail on the Donkey.

Still need to finish the recap but wanted to post this to start the discussions for today. I thought it was a good episode although I fell asleep at the end. The title is for you FELS watchers and I know you will know what that means! See you later on.

ha~~I can't believe that you and I had the exact same thought...a party with musical chairs but no pin-the-tail on Juan !!! Did you miss Reggie and Juan's first kiss ? Well, it was Reggie's first kiss, but not Juan's.Juan is a seasoned kisser. Were you all thinking back to your very first kiss...who? where? when???? why???? What a night. Both my galans got lucky. Juan juanned a kiss ,and he finally got it, and Jose Miguel got to suck snake venom out of the leg of a cranky, nasty, rude woman he just met. Things are on a roll. I started thinking about how much CS is starting to remind me of a fairy tale. Reggie's kiss transformed the Beast [Salvaje Juan] into a prince. Or perhaps, her kiss turned the Frog into a prince. However, for some hombres , no matter how often you kiss them, they're still frogs. [Yes, Old Rod, Fedex, Renato...I'm looking at you .]

Thanks you, Connie!

I've been reading the FELS recaps, but unfortunately I don't get the hint. I remember Capricho, I-Juan-A-Brain, Slowfía/Suffría/Snuffía, Juan's lines/Sofía's lines, but the pin on the tail? Ayyy. There were quite a few crazy parties on FELS. And those lovely guys were singing all the time, even if half of them couldn't sing at all. :)

Aribeth~~At one point in FELS, Gabriela, the mother/wife from hell, had a party for her three grown daughters, and the guests play pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. The party looked like one you'd throw for first graders.

Thanks, Mad Bess!
The party looked like one you'd throw for first graders.
Well, she treated her daughter as if they were 5 years old. :) I'll have to rewatch FELS, though I know that after 70000 episodes of endless circus my brain will explode again. But I miss the music, the Reyes boys, the Elizondo girls, Capricho, Ruth (!), Fed and Gaby. Maybe it's time to order the DVD.

Juan and Regina's love story does kind of remind me of Beauty and The Beast. I loved their first kiss. Since this was Regina's first kiss, Juan was very gentle with her. I also loved how he told her about what happened to him. Regina is seeing Juan in a whole new light now as well as falling more in love with him. The party scene was great too. Juan was so cute. Renato won't listen to reason and is determined to find Juan at any cost. I loved Noel confronting Rod and Leo after walking in on their liplock.

Okay gang, help me out. Since I'm fairly new to TN's (Sortilegio the first), I don't know what FELS is. This episode is the most satisfying as you see the attraction that Juan and Regina have had from the beginning coming to fruition. Juan, like Renato, was swayed by the glitter that was Aimee. But now, he sees what genuine womanhood is like and he wants it, very badly. His gentleness with Regina is absolutely delightful to watch. He's wooing her bit by bit and Regina has his heart and vice versa. They just don't fully realize it yet.
On the other blogs, everyone's talking about Fernando Colunga and how beautiful he is. Can't see and don't see him comparing to Eduardo Yanez. It may be because I'm in my fifties that the older, mature man is more appealing, but EY's sex appeal is palpable. Hmm....!!!!!

Barbara- FELS= Fuego en la Sangre. That was EY's last role. Didn't watch it, but caught some bits and read the hilarious recaps.

I don't think he and FC are that far off in age, are they. FC is about 45 and EY is about 50, right? I must be fickle or something, because I love all my telenovios just the same (EY, FC, WL). They each have different endearing qualities, and they have all given me swoon/sigh worthy moments. Last night's first kiss (for Reggie) scene was just such a moment.

-Vivi (Stuck here at the VW dealership getting my Beetle serviced and just found out I will be stuck here longer because I need a new alternator. Thank goodness for free WiFi!)

I agree BarbaraM. Juan and Regina always had an underlining attraction to each other but neither wanted to admit it to themselves because Juan was still stuck on Aimee and Regina was still stuck on Renato. Now they are both realizing what they were seeking in their respective obsessions/crushes they are finding with each other and I couldn't be happier.

That was a most wonderful kiss! I didn't think it was going to happen yet.

Agree BarbaraM that EY has it over the other galans. I'm in my 50's, too, but I don't know if that is it. He is just a gorgeous man, better looking than WL or FC in my book!

The party was hilarious, very cute, I couldn't believe they were playing musical chairs.

OMG, Leo and Rod, so brazen and then accusing Noel of being immoral for talking to Lulu! Those 2 really deserve whatever they have coming.

Wasn't feeling well yesterday and wasn't on, but I read Sarah's recap - very funny!

Thanks for posting this space Connie. Your title was great and though I didn't see all of FELS I remember the infamous party.

Vivi - ITA w/you regarding the galans. I too see the various qualities I enjoy in each of my favorite telenovios and have no reason to just pick one. Glad you have WiFi and hope you get your car back sooner rather than later.

BarbaraM & Pirate Babe - ITA w/you both. From the beginning Juan was intrigued by Regina while simply inflamed by Aimee. Though Regina was initially put off by him, she is realizing what a wonderful man Juan is. They bring out the best qualities in one another which adds depth to their attraction.

E Y for me and for some reason he is better looking now than when he was younger though I've never seen his novelas from years ago. Okay, maybe it's the plastic surgery or lipo but it has worked.

So funny, that old Rod keeps manipulating Leo with his attention and kisses whenever he wants her to back him up. But even as his doormat, Leo did not want to share MdR's jewels to save him from bankruptcy. And such hypocrites accusing Noel of scandalizing the family.

Renato added Juan JuanJuan to his YaYaYa and QueQueQue shouting repetoire. LOL.

Barbara:
FELS = Fuego en la sangre, the former TN of EY and Salvador Mejía (the producer of CS). It's the remake of the Colombian telenovela called Las aguas mansas and it was a huge hit in Mexico, with the highest ratings of the decade. It wasn't that successful abroad because most viewers remembered well the popular Pasión de gavilanes (2003, Telemundo), the former version of the story.

FELS was silly. Very silly. And in the meantime it was entertaining and the actors did a great job. Like CS. :) But in my opinion CS has a better story.

Telenovela galáns:

EY: I don't know if he had plastic surgery. Maybe he did because he looks way too young for his age, but his facial muscles work perfectly and his skin doesn't look weird. Botox and face lift kill mimicry and skin. Just look at Osvaldo Ríos, Nicole Kidman or Gaby Spanic. They do have a strange look.
Maybe he's got very good genes.

FC: I was in love with him for a while when I was 15 (oh, the good old Esmeralda days...), but after seeing him in Esmeralda, La usurpadora, María la del Barrio and Abrazame muy fuerte a row I lost interest in him. I should've started with the Estrada telenovelas, but this happened in 2000-2002. :) I still like him much and drool over his photos, but I wouldn't watch any telenovela only for him.

These are my categories for the telenovios:
a) cute = I'd happily hug him because he's lovely but he's not my galán (for the time being)
for example Sebastián Zurita, William Levy or Valentino Lanús

b) cute and often hot = sometimes his charm works, sometimes it doesn't, it depends on the production (script, director, female lead)
FC, Juan Soler, Francisco Gattorno, Eduardo Palomo, Guy Ecker, René Stickler, Mauricio Islas, Arturo Peniche and so on

c) Jesus Christ, he's freaking hot = I give chance to every single telenovela he participates in (+ dirty thoughts :))
César Évora (when he was thinner), Jorge Salinas and EY
-> these guys have a rugged "beware, I'm dangerous, charming and interesting" vibe onscreen

I'm 27. Yes, most of these actors are between 40 and 50. In real life I'm not interested in this generation, but these are the telenovela actors whom I respect and like the most, and unfortunately most of the Televisa actors who are under 35 bore me to hell. Televisa should bring up some new credible telenovela galáns as soon as possible, because the generation of the 1990's and 2000's is getting very old for the classic young stallion roles. We don't mind it much because we love either EY or FC (or both of them), but the company and especially the 9:00 timeslot needs fresh AND charismatic faces.

I don't think EY has had any work done to his face. His forehead still moves. Take a look at ALL the main women characters in STuD (including Lucero). NONE of them have wrinkles on their forehead and none of their foreheads move. Also, EY's face doesn't have that stretched-tight-as-a-drum look, nor are there any funky lumps or dimples from injections. I think he's the real deal - and so is FC.

Back to CS, I think Leo is about to discover that Rod cares for her precious Renato about as much as he cares for Regina. So, should anything happen to Renato, Rod better watch his back.

Loved the kiss (finally!). And the way Juan said her name Regina made my heart melt.

Thanks, Connie; I haven't watched this episode yet, although I did finally get to watch Thursday's late last night.

I'm going to listen to the comments and be back after I watch the show.

In the meanwhile, I have some EY screen cap albums I can repost from when I first fell in love with him.

EY i think has good genes and no work done.he is such a good looking guy to die for.the party scene was great but I liked most his face and his almost curly hair on the temples- looked so natural when you think he was in a boat- with the sea wind...
first kiss was great but I liked his almost innocent look as if he was kissing for the first time- have noticed how he behaves after the kiss- a bit as if in guilt...
OMG- love to see that see hundreds of times and still love it...

Thanks Connie for opening up the discussion theme.

Onto my comments from last night -- FINALLY JUAN AND REGI HAVE LIP-LOCK!!! Not once but twice! The first was very cute and sweet. Then the second, WOWOW!!!

I was ready to jump through the screen last night and slap Ren upside the head and knock some sense into that jealous, selfish jerk. And to think Rod is loving every minute of Ren's determined stupid ideas in going after Juan.

Just did my calculations -- we have 44 episodes left.

Jody :)

Aribeth~~I am ROFLOL at your galan rating scale !!! My favorites are Big Ed, FC, and the lesser known Marcelo Cordoba [who is always in supporting roles..he was Luis's faithful bodyguard who ended up with Luis's ex-mistress in Alborada.] I would put all 3 in your #3 category ..muy hot. However, if I HAD TO choose just one, it would be Big Ed ...probably because he reminds me of my Big Mike. As for EY's looks, I think that he has good genes. When my dad was 60, people thought that he was 40 even though he was a farmer and was always out in the sun and wind. Also, I think that Big Ed has a little extra meat on him which also makes him appear younger than his 50 years. My sister used to be painfully thin. After she gained some weight, she looked much younger. I like a seasoned hombre....fine wine. Young men can be enthusiastic and charming, but older men are wise and confident..2 very attractive qualities. I teach all ages , but the 19-20 year-old boys just tire me out . One is always having to either curb their enthusiasm or push them uphill kicking and fighting to knowledge.

Thanks for the tip on what FELS was. I just got through scanning through the YouTubes of this show. Interesting to say the least, but what struck me was this. EY is already muy guapo but when he sang in this TN with that husky, sexy voice - oh good grief, his number in my book just rose. I think what I like best about EY is that he is so natural looking. When he was younger, he had the pretty boy looks like William Levy. Now older, he's just downright handsome and has a smile that would sink a million ships (better than Helen of Troy). If you watch enough of him in TN's, you know that man knows how to kiss. Would any of you ladies likes to be his leading lady in a TN? It might be very hard to resist if the opportunity would arise.
So thanks again for setting me on FELS. Don't think I'll forget, for a long time, the 3 brothers swimming in the nude while Sarita watch.

Enjoyed the links to the photos Jeri. I loved this episode. This is the first thing I have seen EY in, but agree that he is very handsome. He was so sweet with Regina (loved the kisses)and I think she really understands where he is coming from after hearing his story. She will probably be the one that can make him give up his vengeance and find true happiness with her.

Aribeth and Xlnt's remarks on botox etc are too funny and Aribeth's a,b. c catagories of galanhood as well. Jeri, always love those pics of E Y.

Aribeth...thanks for that video of the long-awaited kiss. Sweet! Haven't had time to look at the others or read the comments but will come back sometime tomorrow and enjoy.

Oh, now I get it.

Renato is feeling like Jan Brady.

!Juan, Juan, Juan! = Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Marie from Mass

LOL, Marie, Renato = jealous sibling. I think Cristian de la Fuentes is doing crazy so well and making Renato's downfall so entertaining. I don't think the end will be good for him though there is always a chance for redemption of his character. He hasn't actually killed anyone yet as his mom and uncle have done numerous times and attempted to oodles of times.

GinCA

Well, I just got to watch the show, and I was so blown away by the finish that I can hardly remember what happened before that!

I'm really enjoying this show right now. It's so sad and more than a bit ironic that Aimee has become leftovers. Both of her galans have now focused on her sister, seeing in her pure gold instead of gilt. Well her star blazed and fizzled... tough luck Aimee, I'll bet Regina's habit will fit you. How about a career change?

I loved the party and especially musical chairs. ¿La Bamba? ¡Perfecto! I loved the fruit buffet. Though there were fish, I never saw him cook the fish. Ceviche?

Is Renato out of his everlovin' mind?

Oh.

Carlos

I did stay up and watch the show but mostly remember the Juan and Regina scenes. EY is so handsome and I think the story does remind me of beauty and the beast. I absolutely love the sound of his voice and compared to some of the other actors on regular tv I still think he's one of the best looking and great actors. I loved that Noel finally got some backbone and spoke out against Leo and Rodrigo's inappropriate behavior. I hope he keeps it up and looks for love with someone else as he is too good for Leo and deserves happiness since he has to deal with his cheating wife and drunken whiny son Renato. Terrylee from Ashtabula

Ugh! I am in Guatemala and missed the episode!

Unfortunately, my hostess watched this telenovela to the end (it ended a couple months ago here) and spilled the beans about the ending. I think she thought she was being helpful...ACK!

MinMN in Guate

Hello ladies after my own heart. The fact that you all love my EY is enough for me. Is that man beautiful or what.. Granted FC has his fine points but mmmmmmmmmmm EY.The young ones can have FC.
He is so gentle with Regina and very open. They are so in love and the beauty of this is, they are not even aware of it.That kiss was something wasn't it? As for Rod and the rest of his motley crew, there is place reserved in TN hell for them. Good news all around.

Hanna

ARIBETH...once again thanks. Now that I've watched all the videos, the last one with the kiss is that much sweeter. How wonderful to get to watch the highlights of this show.

Haven't seen all the galans on your list but Cesar Evora, even with the weight gain, has such a wonderful voice that the physique simply fades away (at my age anyway). Also love Guy Ecker.

Enjoyed everybody's comments and while I'm as big a fan of EY as the rest of you, he certainly is captivating in that artfully put together white shirt. Wish more men dressed tha way! (of course it would help if more men has his body as well).

Thank you Airbeth for the videos and photo albums, they are always so much appreciated! My eternal thanks! : )

JudyB... ITA, certain men (like the handsome EY) do look wonderful in those romantic, white, billowing poets shirts... I love it when my husband dons his Ren fair gear! However, not so sure they translate that well to real life... remember back in the mid 80's when the pirate look was really popular...? The Prince white rayon ruffled shirts, bad Bon Jovi perms and your guy borrowing your eyeliner, ala Adam Ant? (Good times... bad hair.) ; D

Lady Lisa De Saint Helena

JudyB these days Id just wish the guys would pull their pants up.

Mad Bess/Susanlynn:

"and the lesser known Marcelo Cordoba [who is always in supporting roles..he was Luis's faithful bodyguard who ended up with Luis's ex-mistress in Alborada.]

Oh, yeah, he was one of my favourite character in Alborada. :)) He has a big role in Mar de amor, the last Nathalie Lartilleux (CCEA) telenovela.

JudyB these days Id just wish the guys would pull their pants up.

Ebony, ain't it the truth! That doesn't even look comfortable. It reminds me of pantyhose that are too short and the crotch keeps ending up at your knees.

You guys are absolutely cracking me up (no pun intended). Who needs a recap? We can just log in and natter on to our heart's content. Love this line.

Hi guys. Sorry about no recap. I ended up having to work. Ugh. I haven't even had time to read all the comments yet.

I have been so annoyed knowing that Juan and Reggie were going to end up together. I just think it's tacky for her to end up with her twin sister's leftovers. But I have to admit, I cheered so loud when they finally kissed. Damn you, Mejia! Damn you!

Connie: Too bad about the work thing. Happens to the best of us :)

Oh c'mon Kat, would you really rather have handsome Juan stay with the likes of Aimee or fall hopelessly in love with a beautiful woman such as Regina? Granted he did commit adultery with Aimee, thinking with the wrong part of the anatomy again, but he's so cute. Can't we cut him some slack. I don't think of him as Aimee's leftovers because she really never had him except for sex. Just go back and look at how he defended Regina against Aimee more than once. Now tell me who was tugging on his heart strings from the beginning?

A couple of things I'm not clear on and maybe someone can clear these up for me: Did Leo threaten Aimee with telling Renato the "baby" isn't his? Also, what did Noel say to Rod and Leo when he walked in on their lip lock??

Oh, interesting word verification for this post: stabers. As in Leo and Rod are back stabers...

What about Jaime Camil?

Connie, I understand how work can put a crimp in plans, but is there someone else that can give a run-down on what happened on Friday's episode. My Spanish is not very good and CarayCaray fills in all those blanks for me. Can someone help out a poor Spanish translator? By the way, I got the kiss part just fine (smile)!

xlntperuvian- Here's the basic run down of what Noel said to Rod and Leo when he caught them in a lip lock.

He claps ironically and says, "What a moving scene! Worthy of a great love novel." He then says that he knew of Leo's love for Rod, but what he didn't know was that his great friend Rod was inclined to use Leo's love at his convenience. That's when Rod tries to accuse Noel of being a hypocrite because he saw him holding a prostitute's hand...in PUBLIC (plain daylight)! Noel then points out that he was able to do so in public because he wasn't doing anything wrong and he and Lulu are just friends. While Rod frequents those same women in the casino and does far more. Noel says his conscience is clean. Leo then asks him how can pretend to be so moral when he's friends with prostitutes. Noel then tells them that the two of them use and twist morality for their own convenience. Noel brings up Rod using a poor girl and getting her pregnant (Rosenda). And to top it all off, the two of them then try to kill her! Leo acts all horrified and says that's a lie! Renato walks in just then and asks what's the latest lie the MdOs are keeping now. Noel basically says, ask your mother. Of course Leo does not fess up to anything.

Jean:
What about Jaime Camil?

He's cute and I've heard that he's a very nice guy who keeps in touch with fans et cetera, et cetera. Unfortunately I haven't seen him in any telenovela yet... LFMB and Tontas are not my cup of tea (LFMB: I'd rather watch the original, Tontas: I don't care for neither Bracamontes, nor Rosy Ocampo, the producer). I'm curious about Los exitosos Perez, but again, first I want to watch the original version, Los exitosos Pells, people says it's hilarious.
But I'm looking forward his next projects - from what I've seen from him, he seems to be a talented guy.

Vivi:
Thank you for the summary of the Montes de Loca scene. Noel's entry was legendary. :)

Aribeth: I actually prefer "Los Exitosos Pells" to the Perez. Mike Amigorena is AMAZING. I love him and his beautiful voice. I like Camil but I often get the impression he plays the same funny-quirky-neurotic type of character all the time. I also think Pells had a better rithm overall.

Jarocha

By the way, I watched "Las Aguas Mansas" back when I was in high school. I LOVED that novela and didn't found out FELS was the third version of it until it was over. It's incredible how distorted the story became from just two versions.

Jarocha

Thank you so much Vivi!
