Corazon Salvaje 6/9/10 Discussion

I don't know if anyone is filling in for Jeri this week so I thought I'd post this to start our discussion.

I thought Juan looked very handsome in his suit. But when doesnt' he? 8(:P

What is that thing Regina was wearing on her head. Did not like it at all? I've never seen a veil like that before. Do you think the wedding will happen tonight?

Juan is muy guapo!

I hope there will be a wedding. Life with Juan is surely better than life at the Finca with everyone on Regina's case about something or other. Juan has proved that he will defend her against all comers. Aimee is a loose cannon and Renato is becoming a bully.

And what about Maria del Rosario?

And how did Arcadio know to inquire about Rosenda at Dr. Miranda's? Being an amnesiac may be a good thing for her. She will be able to get to know her mother without prejudice.

I didn't understand what Griselda was saying...first to Servando and then at Mariela's. Would someone clue me in?

Gabe had better get his butt in gear if they are going to Pinion del Diablo.

Good questions Teresita. I didn't hear what she said either. So if the property of the wife becomes the property of the husband how would Rod be able to get his grubby mitts on it?

I think Rod believes that Regina will just hand over her money to him when she marries just like Aimee did. Also I did not like her veil or wedding dress at all. The veil looks like the same one she wore when she was going to marry Freddy. I do think the wedding will take place and then wow will Aimee be fit to be tied.

Aimee didn't exactly hand over her money to Rod even though that's basically what happened. Leonarda told her to let Rod invest it in the lumber with his own and he lost everyone's, including Leonarda's (I think). But I can't comprehend Juan allowing her to do such a thing because when he thinks with the big head he's actually pretty smart.

Thank you, Connie.

Juan in tux = HOT
Drunk jackass Renato = very entertaining

Maybe I'm the only one who loves Reggie's veils much. They're sweet and oldschool. Very similar to Natalie Portman's veil in The Attack of the Clones.

Teresita:
"Life with Juan is surely better than life at the Finca with everyone on Regina's case about something or other."

Since Juan+Regina is the endgame of the story, they'll surely get along well together. And Juan's fun, especially compared to the bitter folks of the Finca. But right now the life with Juan seems to suck, because our hero bipolarito is in the same venganzaaa/rape/I'm betrayed mode like Manuel was in Amor real. Very similar to the book, btw. (And both stories were written by Caridad Bravo Adams.)

"Juan has proved that he will defend her against all comers."

Yes, unlike Renato who would throw her to the wolves without hesitation.
Juan's attitude reminds me of the glee club boys from Glee: "Rachel's one of us. We're the only ones who get to humiliate her!" :-)

ITA that to Regina life with Juan probably looks like the better choice, even though she said she's going to get off at the first stop and join a convent! At least she'll be away from her family. Love it that Aimee is going to throw even more of a fit, can't imagine how she will control herself during the wedding.

Renato clearly knows she was lying now - as he sarcastically said something to Juan about this marriage of love.

Yes, handsome Juan, yes!!

I kind of figured we wouldn't get a wedding last night, that we'd be off on tangents catching up with other characters. I kept hoping Fulgencio would walk in on Eloiseho and Fed. That's going to be good...

Can anyone understand what Branco says? He talks so fast he sounds like a cartoon character. My bet is that Griselda is about to "sell" Jimena to her own family.

I wish Celia would just hit Aimless with a candlestick. "I was cleaning it and it slipped. Who knew it would fracture her skull?"

Juan looked muy guapo but didn't he spill his drink on his shirt?

I am certain that Renato knows Aimee lied to him. That's the reason for all the drinking. He's really gonna need a drink when he finds that diary of Reggie's. Not only is he married to a cheating shrew, but he lost a woman who loved him heart and soul. Things will only get worse for Renato when Reggie and Juan leave.

We should give Regina a break, after all she didn't have time to buy a weeding dress. I don't know how Renato made that happen so quickly. It was after midnight the weeding was decided and the next morning they just got married. I didn't mind the veil too much, but the dress is another story.

Orca really moves around. Probably he has some clones. Because he's all over the place and always the right place at the right time.

The convinient loss of memory plot that every novela has. It does not fail. Now Rosie lost her memory so she can't tell no one about MDR.

Basically what Griselda was saying is that she needs Jimena to support her. If she doesn't get money she's going to go away with her and no one is ever going to see her again.

xlntperuvian:
"I was cleaning it and it slipped. Who knew it would fracture her skull?"

LOL!

Sue:
"I don't know how Renato made that happen so quickly. It was after midnight the weeding was decided and the next morning they just got married."

I bet the priest's going to take a vacation soon just to get rid off the problematic Montes the Loca family. Especially Miss Nun/Not a nun/Married to Fed/Not married to Fed/Married to Juan.

Didn't she also smack Jimena? I was in the other room but walked in at the tail end of that scene. I was wishing the Abuelo would smack her right back. I wish they'd hurry up and make some progress with that plot. I'm getting sick of it.

I hope Renato finds Reggie's diary and I hope he feels bad about the way he has been treating her.

I'm guessing he will - I wonder if that scene in the opening song where he is with Regi and Juan rides up has anything to do with that, or did that happen already?

I was wondering if Griselda would recognize Jimena's mother, since they must have been spying on her before they stole Jimena.

It seems like I remember Griselda and Servando having a discussion about Branko and pure gypsy blood, (gitano sangre?). If Branko is Sevando's relation, wouldn't he want to keep the blood pure, too?

That would be cool if Griselda did want to sell Jimena to Mariela or to Gabriel. At least we could dispense with some of that insipid storyline. I am not a fan of Branko.

I agree Connie and Tersita, Juan took hawtness to a new level.
Life with the BLMOE is sure to be heaven compared to Finca hell.

What a loving family Jimena has. Now if only they could "find" each other. And quickly.

Begone Branko!

Connie, you noted what I thought was the night's most important event. Regina dropping her diary. I suspect you're right and Renato will rue the day he chose the wrong sister.

Regina and Juan are entering into the marriage on a level playing field -they know the other loves another. Looks like they will have marriage, courtship and love - all important steps just in a non-traditional order.

Diana

Sue: "Orca probably has some clones." That would explain a lot...

I've always thought Orca looks like a troll, something from Grimm's Fairy Tales. He even walks like a troll, all hunched over. I'll bet if he had a birth certificate it would say he was born under a bridge.

I was thinking yesterday he looked like an orc but they were way too skinny. A troll is exactly what he looks like! He seems to be a fairly big guy.

Just a random thought, I personally would like to see Fed get his ass kicked by just about anyone.

I think it would be great if Juan and Reggie and Colibri made a nice little family. He really cares for her and she for him. Plus he's a cute little guy who's had a bad time in life.

Do you guys want me to post a discussion place for Friday night? We'll be preempted by the World Cup thing but we could still discuss.

Yes, I thought Orca looked like and Orc, too, but troll is right on. (And clones was LOL!) He definitely looks like something out of a fairy tale. Maybe the fact that he is almost cartoonish (and conflicted) makes me not able to completely condemn him, even though he has done some terrible things.

LOL to Celia's accidental slip of the candlestick!

I can't understand Branco, either, and he has the "th" too.

Aren't Regina, Aimee, Renato and Juan all cousins? They all are Montes de Orcas. It seems strange that they are all marrying each other. Did I miss something? I also think Juan looked very handsome and I think he already has some feelings for Regina.

His cadence is different and you have to really listen. Is he from Spain?

Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

Rodrigo-guardian to Leonarda and Maria del Rosario after their parents die when they are young. He could be related to either parent, I'm guessing, but I am not sure.

Rodrigo married Constanza (from Spain) and had the twins, Aimee and Regina. Leonarda poisoned Constanza and took care of the girls until they were school age.

Leonarda married Noel, to spite Rodrigo. Leonarda and Noel are the parents of Renato.

Juan is the child of Maria del Rosario and Juan de Dios.

Depending on if Rodrigo is a blood relative, they are all cousins - or not.

Juan and Renato are definitely first cousins on their mother's side.

Connie: Thank you for volunteering to post for Friday night.

I can't read and comment on Friday episode recaps until I get back to work on Monday. The recappers and commenters here always have such fun and informative comments, it's always something to look forward to.

Diana

I realize there won't be a Friday episode but people may want to keep commenting, particularly if the wedding tonight does materialize.

Diana

Yes. That's what I was thinking. I hate to miss a day. Sometimes I'll post questions for us to ponder.

Connie:
That's a lovely idea, I like it. Especially the "Sometimes I'll post questions for us to ponder." part. :-)

Teresita:
You summed the situation up perfectly. Juan and Renato are first cousins.
Imho Rod and the sisters were first or second cousins (that's not canon, only my assumption), therefore Juan/Ren and Aimee/Reg are second or third cousins.

Connie, though there will be no episode on Friday, I would be very happy if you would post a link so we can chat (things are getting so good). And yes Juan looked very nice last night!

My DVR betrayed me and I missed last night. I'm not sure I saw everything. Can someone fill me in on Regina's diary? I didn't see anything about it on youtube. Thanks in advance.

xlntperuvian - great comment about Celia. I wish she would fight back in some way. And thank your explanation for Renato's drunkenness. I wasn't sure why after being so mad he was drinking.

See what happens when children don't go out to play or have any friends? Incest!!!!hmmm Jaun looked good enough to eat. He is a really elegant man.Casually elegant.Hmmmmm. What was the storyline again?

Storyline? 8(;P

I'm finding this far more interesting than STuD. Anybody else?

Regina wrote in her diary that in marrying Juan it was the ultimate sacrifice to make for Renato's happiness and that he was the one she truly loved. When she was packing up to leave to go to the wedding - and I'm guessing, not to return to La Finca- she dropped the diary beside the bed.

Teresita - thanks for filling in this info. I look forward to Renato reading it.

Connie - Yes, this is way more interesting than STuD right now.

I am trying to watch STuD but I haven't been following it closely. I'd rather watch "So You Think You Can Dance" on Wed & Thurs. But when FC shows up the dancers might have to wait...

Connie:
" I'm finding this far more interesting than STuD. Anybody else?"

Ditto. Don't get me wrong, imho and Nicandro Díaz is a 10 times better producer than Mejía. But I had to realize that I get bored to death at Díaz's telenovelas. Even at Destilando (in spite of the music, the scenery, Sendel's blue eyes and Lalo's gorgeous body and boyish charm).
CS is very incoherent, surreal and badly written, but it's filled with delicious melodrama and fun. And it's incalculable. I saw the previous versions, read the book but I wasn't able to tell what was going to happen next week. STUD is a better production beyond doubt, but it's unimaginative, almost the exact clone of the previous version so far.

CS = painfully stupid but entertaining
STUD = better written (yes, because it uses LD95's script) but boring

But if one loves Lucero and/or Fernando very much, then will love STUD, too. I would be the most enthusiastic viewer if the show had other protagonists: Lucero and anybody else but Colunga, or Colunga and anybody else but Lucero. I don't like them together, unfortunately I can't feel the chemistry. I was rooting for Adela's participation, but either she's still overweighted, or she wanted too much dinero.
Btw, Lucero looks awesome in STUD. That body and that smile: wow.

Connie~~Thanks for posting a place for us to comment. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for always stepping up in this way. I really appreciate your faithfulness in always trying to keep the discussion going. I would enjoy another of your posts tomorrow. I am enjoying CS very much, but StTuD is kind of a snoozer. However, I remain hopeful that things will pick up [as will my interest in STuD] when the real stud and his abs show up. I haven't seen this episode of CS yet. Having to record the show and then trying to find time to watch is a challenge. Last night, I sped through 3 episodes at record speed. I fastforwarded...a lot. Even Hub who never watches looked at Ren and said , ''He knows she's lying.'' [Hub doesn't even know their names. ] Ren has certainly slid down a steep and slippery slope rapidly. I think that the drinking and violence is all about his sudden epiphany that his hot , sexy, young wife is not what he thought she was. Be careful what you wish for because you may get it, verdad ? Love is blind....and so is lust. Maybe poor old Ren was a virgin and Aimee's redhot , smoldering sexiness was just too much for him to resist. Well, he's made his bed and had some good times in it , but now he has had his eyes opened and realizes that he is stuck in a marriage with a vapid, spoiled, lying, egotistical , amoral mujer. Bummer, Ren. I expect Juan and Reg's journey into matrimony to start out a little nasty and rocky but end up sweet and solid. Ren and Aimee, you pushed these two together, so you'll just have to watch their love bloom and deal with their eventual bliss. HA.

Thanks, Connie, for setting up the discussion and for all the commenters for their insights.

Since my Spanish is basic, I seem to have missed the info on the jewels that Orca found in the little gold chest in the low wall/step/seat. He surmised they were MdR's. So Leo hid them there, I think. So, she didn't share them with Rod when he needed them to save him from bankruptcy. Ha, ha, maybe she's not a complete doormat for Rod.

Also Rod did his impersonation of Hugh Hefner again last night with his robe open to show his thin chest and patch of curly chest hair. He was so high thinking he was getting Regina's inheritance, he didn't mind toasting from Ren's wine glass. Leo not so much.

GinCA

Orca. Born under a bridge. Hee.
Celia. Cleaning slip with a candlestick--good idea.
Now, bring on the ceremony and tie the knot. Very tightly. So Aimee's inevitable hissy fit will be in vain.
La Paloma

Boy, that Salma sure is quick on throwing out those curse bombs. I see one doing a boomerang and coming right back at her.

Yes Connie, CS is much more entertaining than STuD and plastic Ivana. She's frightening. I'm waiting for Colunga to see if I can continue with it. Right now I just FF when Ivana starts talking...
jb

Connie, no contest. CS hands down. I'm sure STuD will get better once Fernando appears but as others have already noted, Ivana's craziness is off the charts. I don't know if it's the part or that the actress is overacting or both.

I like Lucero but I feel she is a little robotic in her acting. Her words and expressions seem forced at times. Maybe I'm wrong and simply carrying over her personna from MEPS.

It will be interesting to see if she does have chemistry with FC. Aribeth, you made a very interesting comment - FC was on fire with Adela. I also liked him with Suzanna Gonzales in Pasion.

Susanlynn, I loved your comment: 'Well, he's made his bed and had some good times in it , but now he has had his eyes opened and realizes that he is stuck in a marriage with a vapid, spoiled, lying, egotistical , amoral mujer." Excellent!

Diana

Thanks Connie for opening the discussion theme.

Let's see what I can remember from last night:

We catch a repeat of the Renato - Juan pre-wedding argument with Clem. standing in the middle of the fireworks. Ren has a temper tantrum and doesn't want Juan to drink his alcohol or be anywhere in his house at all. Juan screams back that as a Montes de Oca he is truly entitled to half the finca and he demanded that he be made part- owner of everything! EVERYTHING! Renato is impactado and speechless.

The wedding: quick, short, only music was the canned wedding march from the production editing room. All we saw of it was Noel walking Regi down the aisle to Juan (looking very dapper in his formal black and white tuxedo). Then we see him put a ring on her finger quickly. We see her slip a ring on his finger quickly. They look at each other with sadness. At the end of the ceremony, Juan drops coins into Regi's hands. Pastor blesses the union. When the pastor says, "you may kiss the bride," Juan looks back to the family - Rod is stiff and silent. Aimee is upset and nervous standing next to her father. That's when Juan was very cute - he took Regi's hand and kissed it quickly.

Noel and Rod meet secretly in the finca office. Noel drew up the papers to give Rod all Regi's inheritance without needing her knowledge or consent. Noel isn't happy at all about this. He was hoping Rod would reconsider. Rod is grumbling still about Regi not being his daughter since she disobeyed his wishes and married the bastard (Juan del Diablo) instead of his choice Federico.

Speaking of Feddy, he and Servando found a dumb poor person and gagged him and dragged him all the way to their cave office and in front of the waiting Fulgencio at his desk (swanky desk and chair set up for a cave, don't ya' think?). They claim that he stole their guns and money. Ful asked about the guns - they didn't find the guns near him but they did find two bags of coins.

Regi didn't feel well at all - she looked like she had a fever and was about ready to faint as she took her veil and wedding dress off and changed clothes. She muttered that she had to be strong and brave - and even though she married Juan, she won't ever let me make her his wife!

As Ren sits in deep thought, Juan watches from the side of the staircase as Rod looks back towards Ren and then Juan and then strolls upstairs. Juan and Ren both check their pocket watches. Juan is impatient and thinks Regi is too slow coming back down. He is going up for her - Ren tells him to stay and wait. He tells Ren she is his wife. He has that right. Just then, Regi appears on the stairs with her handbag suitcase and all dressed in her nun's clothes. Ren questions the wardrobe. She says that this is the only clothes she owns that truly belongs to her. She tells Juan she is ready to leave. Ren offers to help her but Juan steps in and says he will help her - they are married now. Juan smiles at Ren as he takes her suitcase and walks Regi out the door. Ren returns to his seat between the staircases and continues to look sad and depressed.

Aimee is still stuck in the bedroom, crying and grumbling about Regi and Juan. Ren comes in with champagne for them to toast the newlyweds. He orders her to drink even though she protests. They argue. They yell and scream. He tries to force her to tell him the truth and she continues to stop herself and continue her lies and cover stories. Eventually Noel enters and interrupts. Aimee runs to Noel 'for safety' and makes Ren look like the 'salvaje ape-man'.

my very brief recap (continued):

About Auntie G -- she finds Jimena with Mariela and her family. She yells at Jimena and slaps her for not sleeping at the gypsy camp last night. G. argues with Mariela and her father about taking Jimena back to the camp vs. Jimena remaining with family permanently. G. thought bubbles that she recognizes one of them from when she and Servando kidnapped Jimena and that she needs to get the girl out of there before they catch on and send her to jail.

Connie --

If there isn't an episode, instead of opening up a new theme for discussion, why can't we just use this theme to continue our discussions over the weekend?

Jody :)

One more thing I remember from last night's episode:

Pedro, Santos, Koli, Esteban, Remi and Gabe ambush the weak, pathetic police guards and remove them from the Luzbel.

Juan carries Regi in his arms on the beach. He is shirtless again. Is he just blind and dumb or what? Can he not see that she has a fever and is about to faint?

The guys are on deck as Juan carries Regi on board. She tries to protest and beg Juan to take her back to shore but Juan tells her the Luzbel is his only home and will be their home from now on so she needs to get used to it. He glares at Koli and everyone so they won't dare interfere with his marriage and help his wife. He even argues and tells Remi to butt out of his personal business. Regi starts to have a tantrum and faints. Remi catches her. Juan runs over to her and carries her away.

He carries her down to his quarters and puts her on the bed. She's kicking and screaming for him not to touch her! As Juan gets a bowl and towels, she passes out again and starts shaking - Koli enters and tells him she's very sick and may die. Juan is impactado.

Diana:
STD will get a little bit better when Lucero transforms into a bitter woman, and the hacienda scenes will be more entertaining. As I said I'm not mad about the Lucero/FC pareja, but in STD they function better than in Alborada. The contemptuous, heartbroken bitch and the cute, sassy guy pattern always works well. :-)
I'm not watching STD anymore but many people like it.

I'm not a big fan of Pasión, but I agree, he and Susana were lovely together. Btw, have you seen Entre el amor y el odio? The chemistry between Susana and César Évora burned up the screen.
(Side note: I know it's hard to believe but 12 years ago Fer and Gaby "Ivana" Spanic had fantastic chemistry in La usurpadora.)

Jody:
Thank you very much for the quick recap, you're a sweetheart! :-)

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this Sarah's day? I mean there will be a new recap thread today, won't there?

Aribeth --

yes, thursday is Sarah's recap day. When she has time, I'm sure she'll post something. if she's as busy this week as she was last week, she may be posting late.

okay, i'll add my comments to STuD - I don't think Adela was even considered for a role in STuD - didn't Mejia have to rewrite FELS so she wouldn't have to have any scenes with horses because she had a definite fear of them? From what I remember about the bits and pieces I saw of "La Due~a" there are lots of horse scenes at the hacienda.

Jody :)

"I don't think Adela was even considered for a role in STuD"

I don't know if she was considered for the role really seriously, but she definitely was in negotiations with Nicandro for a few weeks. I remember finding a lead actress for STD was a very difficult and long task, and after a month it became a tragicomedy. When Spanic, Zepeda and Colunga started to shoot their scenes in January, the show didn't have the Duena yet.

Wow, is Bambi afraid of horses? I didn't know about this. She had one or two horse scenes in Guadalupe, El manantial and FELS, but this doesn't mean anything, she didn't have to ride them on her own.

Jody, thank you for the all-encompassing recap. Excellent as always. You captured everything so well, particulary the gamut of emotions in the various scenes.

I thought Juan looked divine in his suit. The wedding was certainly not what I envisioned. While glad it happened, was sad that neither Juan nor Regina were in the least bit happy. I did like the quick smile Juan gave her halfway through the ceremony. Eduardo can convey such emotion with only a glance.

How nice of Leo to wear such a festive black dress. Her attire along with the somber mood were more suited to a funeral, not a wedding.

Shame on Noel for drawing up those papers. He could have refused, couldn't he?

Jimena's family protecting her against Gris was very touching.

The cave killing was gruesome. I hope Servando, Fed and Fully get the justice they deserve. I would just like Fully to hang around a bit more as he's an interesting character.

I could not believe Regina wore the habit as her going away outfit. But, I do understand why now thanks to your explanation Jody.

I like Juan and Reggie being at sea. The crew likes her and several are devoted. They and Juan will see her through her illness.

Aribeth and Jody, thanks for the casting info. I'm still watching STuD Aribeth and am glad it will improve.

Diana

I haven't read all the comments for today but if you all want to keep posting here over the weekend I'm all for it.

Thanks Jody for the recap. I didn't understand Regina's going away outfit either. I said what the hay when she came down the stairs. This show is really starting to get good. For some reason in my area Univision didn't have this on last night. They had a repeat of Dinero on. I found this on another channel. Also tonight the listings say a game will be on at midnight, but CS will still be on the other station.

I enjoyed the wedding. There were so many nuances to see. Everyone was looking at Regina - will she or won't she? - She was looking around to see the expressions on everyone's face...

Juan was funny.
He had to be made to stand up by Pedro at the beginning of the ceremony.
When he saw how unhappy and resolute Regina was, he took her hand.
When everyone was waiting for him to plant a big kiss on Regina (proof that they had "relations" I suppose) he kissed her hand.

Clemencia is getting on my last nerve. Shut up already. I blame her for the mess Regina is in - she told her to protect her sister, Aimee. However, I agree that in the long run, Renato and Aimee will see what true love and respect actually is, and know what it isn't.

Juan is so good at playing the big bad dude, but he's a softy at heart, as evidenced when Regina took ill.

What a man!

Teresita:
"There were so many nuances to see."

Oh yes, I loved it, too. :-) It's filled with many interesting and funny moments.

"He had to be made to stand up by Pedro at the beginning of the ceremony."
I loved that moment. (And I love, love, love Juan's fishermen pals! :-)) One can see that the production has a new director, the scenes are much better built up.

"When he saw how unhappy and resolute Regina was, he took her hand."
No, he took her hand because the priest told him so.

My favorite line and it was pretty quick when Regina came down the stairs and Renato ran over to help her Juan said "She's my wife now. You've lost the right to touch her."

Connie:
Yes, that was my "favourite" line, too! :-) I thought: "Excuse me? And what about those hot nights with Aimee in the Cave of Lust? I love you, Juan, but sometimes you're a huge asshole."
But in spite of his machismo I liked that line much. You're late, Renatonto, you chose Aimee, you forced Juan and Reggie to marry, now don't try to act like a loving cousin.

Aribeth:

Thanks for the correction about taking her hand. My Spanish leaves a lot to be desired!
