Corazon Salvaje - Monday, May 31 - Gabe tries to win Jimena back; Juan joins family for lunch; Arco kills the baby doll
* Maria holds her doll baby and shows Mirta the letter from Constanza, and tells her that Constanza accuses Leona of killing her. They need to hide and guard the letter - it is very important.
* Noel, Rod, Leona and Renato discuss the arranged marriage of Regina and Federico. Noel knows Regina doesn’t love Federico and wonders if she was somehow convinced to agree to this in order for Rod to get his hands on her inheritance.
* Maria hugs and sings to her baby dolly. Arcadio spooks her as he enters the cell. She panics and runs for the bed. Arcadio is drinking heavily from his little bottle of rum. He eyeballs her and really wants to have sex with her. She squeals and tells him to stay away from her. They fight as he continues his advances. He starts to touch her and she fights back. He smacks her on the head with his rum bottle and she falls unconscious on the bed.
* The family gathers around the dining room table for lunch. Noel asks Regina directly if she really loves Federico and really wants to marry him. Feddy tells him not to doubt his sincerity in the marriage proposal. Regina assures Noel that she really wants to marry with Feddy. Leona and Rod think it is time to do a family toast. Renato says they can when all the family is in the room. Everyone is stunned when Renato brings Juan in the room and introduces him as his brother-cousin. Aimee and Regina are stunned and can’t believe it. Renato explains his parents are Juan San Roman and Maria del Rosario Montes de Oca. Rod is outraged and furious. Juan defends his mother.
* Maria is awake again and fights to keep Arcadio away from her and not to touch her. She is shaking and scared. Arcadio starts to attack and says he will prove he is as much a man as Juan de Dios was. She struggles as he moves in close to her.
* Juan argues with Rod about his place in the family. Rod huffs, puffs and stomps towards the door. Leona stops him and whispers for him to calm down and stay - at least for Regina and Feddy’s sake (and reminds him about Regina’s inheritance). Rod takes a really deep breath, composes himself and returns to the table. Leona thinks they should celebrate the happy engagement now. Noel and Renato invite Juan to join them. Juan accepts. He walks over to the table, picks up a glass and toasts to Regina’s happiness.
* Arcadio steals the baby doll away from Maria. Maria goes crazy and wants her baby son back. Arcadio laughs and says the doll was from Constanza’s trunk. Maria continues to rant about wanting her baby back. Mirta appears and tries to help Maria get the baby doll away from Arcadio. Arcadio snags the letter away from Mirta - the ladies go to opposite walls of the cell. He looks at the letter and knows it is the missing letter from Constanza. He leaves with the letter. Maria cries over her baby son. Mirta sits with her.
* Mariela and her parents are happy because she has finally come to the realization that her little daughter isn’t coming home and she needs to move on with her life.
* Gabe and Jimena are on the street. They talk about what happened at the gazebo. Gabe tells her he was there and saw her and Branko kiss. Jimena is still upset that he was late and Branko showed up first. Gabe tries to apologize and seduce a kiss from her. She is still upset and tells him it is too late, she is now engaged to Branko and can’t break her promise to him now. Salma(?) the rival gypsy girl is spying on them from behind the garden wall/gate.
* Noel, Feddy and Juan are in the front room with Renato and Aimee. Leona enters and apologizes for Rod, he didn’t feel well so he went to his bedroom. Noel apologizes for Regina, apparently she didn’t feel well either and went to her room.
* Maria cries and mourns over the death of her baby son; she thinks Juan de Dios won’t return for her. Maria and Mirta cry.
* Regina visits Auntie Maria’s grave. She tells the tombstone that her son is alive after all. She also apologizes for all the evil deeds that her dad did to her and her son; she prays that Aimee and Juan will finally put an end to their secret love affair and Aimee will stop obsessing over Juan.
* Gabe sits and reflects on his love for Jimena and how he lost her. Dr. Pablo sits with him and talks to him about his own heartbreak frustrations with Regina now being engaged to Federico.
* Leona asks Juan if he will become part owner of the ranch now. Juan explains to her, Renato and Aimee that he has no interest in taking control of the ranch - that the only owner of the ranch will always be Renato. Noel then blurts out that Juan really is wealthy with his inheritance from his adopted father, Sr. Aldama. Aimee is intrigued. Juan is a little embarrassed.
* Dr. Pablo continues to tell Gabe that he has always loved Regina but she has always given her heart to another. Gabe then reveals his love for a gypsy girl, who is now engaged to another gypsy. Dr. advises him to wait for her.
* Griselda and Jimena discuss Jimena’s work offer. G thinks it is a good idea and advises Jimena to pilfer some jewels and other items from the lady. Jimena thinks that is stealing and won’t do it - she isn’t a thief. G. tells her "suit yourself" and walks away. Just then, Salma(?) appears and starts to scold Jimena for lying.
* Noel continues to tell Renato, Aimee, Feddy and Leona all about Juan’s wealth and business deals. Renato tells Juan that he is welcome to stay and work from the ranch. Juan hesitates. Aimee insists. Feddy comments. Juan accepts.
* Jimena and Salma(?) continue to discuss Jimena’s secret meeting with Gabe earlier that day. She loves Branko and won’t let Jimena break his heart. Jimena defends herself and is confused what Salma wants her to do. Salma says next time, there may be a payment involved.
* As Juan walks to the side of the room, Aimee touches her hair and then walks over to Juan. She whispers that she needs to talk with him in private. Juan gulps, turns and asks Noel about the weather forecast (maybe a rainstorm is coming?). Noel comments, then Leona and Aimee respond as well.
* At the beach, Branko is skinny-dipping in the waves of the ocean. Salma slinks over to the beach and starts to undress.
* At the house, Jimena and Gabe are waiting for Mariela. Mariela stays hidden in the hallway and spies on them. Gabe needs to talk - he whispers to her that he loves her.
* In the water, Salma tells Branko that she loves him. Branko tells her that he loves Jimena; that they are engaged to be married. Salma tells him repeatedly that Jimena is tricking him, that she is with Gabe. He doesn’t believe her; drops her in the water and walks back to shore alone.
* Jimena tells Gabe that their love can’t go any further. He is christian and she is a gypsy. It is best for them to separate and forget about each other.
* Rosie and Arcadio meet in his room. She intrigues him with her duties as servant in the household and how she learned a huge secret - that Juan del Diablo is really Leona’s nephew. Arcadio can’t believe it and starts to mumble that Juan del Diablo is dead. Rosie is impactado.
* Juan and Noel smile at each other and Juan excuses himself. He bumps into Aimee and excuses himself again. He talks with Renato and Leona. Then he and Leona leave.
* Rosie and Arcadio get into a heated discussion about Arcadio’s mumbling about Juan del Diablo. He thinks the secrets should remain secrets to the grave. Rosie is upset and grumbles they need to bring someone down to their level. Arcadio ushers her out of the room. Alone, Arcadio grumbles his frustration about Maria loca’s son, and looks down at Constanza’s letter in his hand.
* Aimee and Clemencia are alone in the bedroom. Aimee warns Clem. to stay away from her and not interfere with her life. Clem and Aimee have a battle of wits, words and exchange threats. Clem gets the last word - she warns Aimee that she will never let anyone interfere with her keeping her promise to Constanza. Clem leaves. Aimee puffs.
* In private, Juan and Leona have a discussion. He tells her that he knows she gave the order for his arrest and that he was put in the same cell that his father was held in before he was born. Juan then scolds her for all the harm she caused his parents and him. He vows to make her pay for everything. He leaves. Leona mutters to herself that he can try but she will make her sister pay first.
ADVANCE: A main turning point in the drama.

Breaking TN news: José Alberto Castro (Pueblo chico, infierno grande, Ángela, Rubí, Código postal, Palabra de mujer, Los exitosos Pérez) wants to remake Teresa (1989), the big hit of Salma Hayek. Finding a protagonist was a very hard task, but today Castro made an announcement: Angelique Boyer, aka our Jimena-Estrella-Angela got the role. Her first protagonist role. Good luck to the girl! :-)
(I'm not really interested in a Rubí 2., but I'm happy for Angelique.)

A personal rumour: Angelique and Sebastián had been dating for a few months (while they'd been shooting CS) but they already broke up.
I do wish someone would save MdR. It is getting to the point I cannot watch her abuse.
Leo needs to die, she is just plain evil. I think she is even worse than Woody.
Rosemary
MariaN
Thanks for the caps.
ITA Rosemary regarding Leo and MdR's abuse; last night I had to FF through MdR's scenes. Leo's awful and we need to see her start to get some of her comeuppance soon. What further torment can she give her sister aside from death?
Aribeth, thanks for the upcoming novela info.
And Aimee! Ha! Too bad, heifer. I just hope she doesn't rope him back in. It is starting to dawn on Renato, poor man, that something is afoot there.
As unappealing as Arcadio is, I do think he is doing a good job as a conflicted character. We're not really sure what he is going to do. He seems slowly less resistant to Rosenda's persistence.
I thought Feddy's reactions were funny to the whole scene with Juan, he was eating it up. Like, wow, this is fascinating gossip.
I'm getting a little tire of the Gabe/Jimena thing, I'd like to see them resolve that pretty soon.
I am mistaken? I thought Arcadio said Juan del Diablo was dead, but Rosenda questioned him about saying Juan's mother wasn't dead? Did he slip up and tell her?
The exchange between Clem and Aimee was interesting, glad that Clem is not being so nice anymore.
I wonder if Regina is going to reconsider sacrificing herself for her father now that she is starting to find out what a nasty person he really is?
I love Juan's confidence in the den of snakes for lunch. Aimee was sidling up to Juan as mentioned and not too subtly as Noel, Fed and even Ren seemed to notice. And too many knowing glances between Juan and Aimee. Poor Ren has started his own downfall by inviting Juan into the family. A good deed never goes unpunished as they say.
And Juan looked mighty fine last night.
Gabe and Jimena and Mariela...get on with it please. I am drowning in tears.
So now Rosenda has the notion that perhaps MDR is not dead. More ammunition for her in her little blackmail business.
GinCA
And Clem was on fire last night. I don't think I've ever seen her so angry. I thought she might have even slapped Aimee.
Yes hopefully now that Regina is starting to see how awful her father is she will rethink this marriage to the fop.
And thanks for reminding the Dinero folks about STuD. Of course we have been anxiously awaiting STuD simply because we were all exhausted from having to write double recaps. Can't complain to you stalwart CS recappers though, since you have to stay up till midnight, watch and THEN start writing. Univision has been pretty hard on us recappers this season.
So bring on Colunga!!! and let's sit back and enjoy.
Jody, this was wonderful. I enjoy your writing style, succinct and informative.
Rosemary and Pirate Babe, my heart went out to MdR as well. I'm with you in that it's just too heartbreaking to watch. It would be just terrible if she dies before she and Juan can reconcile.
Karen, your question "What further torment can she give her sister aside from death?" was an excellent one. She has really suffered a fate worse than death but if anyone can devise a more hellish "life" for her, unfortunately, it is Leo...
I thought the look Aimee had on her face when she learned of Juan's wealth was truly lustful and truly repulsive. Blech.
I think Mariela and Noel would make a great couple.
Diana
I hate that Arcadio is such a brute! However, I do enjoy him as an actor. When he opened the tomb and Rod was wanting him to search around in the bones to locate the jewels and Leonarda nodded for him to just do it - his body language and expression was such a hoot!
It's time for Maria del Rosario to be saved by her son.
Hopefully news will come soon about what a phoney Federico is - in time to save Regina!
Noel and Doctorcito are precious! I, too, think that Noel and Mariela should hook up!
Clemencia should be showing some fire, after all, she is the one that told Regina that she was responsible for Aimee and now finds that Aimee is such a slut! To quote Noel: Carumba!
How many more episodes do we have now?
Thank you Aribeth for the Angelique Boyer news and link. Best of luck to "Jimena" as she tackles her new project and her first leading role.
Thank you Ivy for clarifying the Arco mutter slip up about MdR to Rosie and Rosie's reaction.
I think I said this once. Like father like daughter. Dangle dollar signs in front of Rod and Aimee and you can get them to do anything. :)
Jody :)
The suggestion of Noel and Mariella as a couple makes sense to me.
Aimee keeps on giving us selfish and greedy, doesn't she? Laughed at Rod being persuaded to make nice, and at Juan laying down the law to Leo. It is time for some anvils to start falling.
La Paloma
Hanna,Md
Okay, so that probably would have ended the novela sixty-some episodes early! But a girl can dream, can't she? ^^
Noel and Mariela! Now there's an idea - and a good one, too!
Boy, it was nice to see Clem finally laying down some law with Aimee. I don't think I could have managed to go as long as she has without snatching myself a handful of unnaturally-red hair right out of that head. Poor, poor Aimee. So Juan's filthy rich, huh? Well, you made Renato's bed; now you have to keep lying in it (and lying, and lying, and lying).
xlntperuvian and Ivy, thanks for mentioning Arcadio's slip-up regarding MdR - I couldn't have caught that myself. I was wondering why the notion of Juan being dead was such a big deal to Hosie, since obviously he was standing right there at lunch (unless she suspected him of being a fraud).
Super recap. I didn't get to watch this until a short while ago, then I read your recap and the comments.I must admit that my hopes were really up when Renato invited Juan to dinner. I have fond memories of the family meals in MEPS and was hoping for something similar. No such luck. Drat! Also I noticed some blurring of the picture of the cavorting in the surf of Branco and Real Gypsy Girl. Drat! I did notice a familiar glow in Aimee's eyes as she heard the truth revealed about Juan. I admire a girl who knows what she wants and then goes after it. She may be bad, but she's focused.
Carlos
I'm not a big Aimee fan, but she is just about the most forward-looking, goal-oriented woman (with perhaps the exception of Leonarda) in this epic. While Regina's eyes oscillate between desperation and panic, Aimee's always emit sparks... be it hate, love, avarice, greed, lust, even disgust. That being said... she is... high maintenance.
"Door number Juan, I want that JUAN!" Good Juans.
