Corazón Salvaje WED 2010-06-30: "Love Will Show the Way"

Episode 93

At Dr. Pablo's, he exclaims to Rosenda and Marlene that it must be true it was Rodrigo who sent the gypsy to murder them! Marlene is frantic with anxiety, and Rosenda can't fathom why Rodrigo would want that. Marlene can't bring herself to explain; but when Rosenda pleads for an answer, Pablo mans up and lays it out for her: Rodrigo Montes de Oca is the father of your child -- and he'd rather kill you than own up to it!

Rosenda is flumoxed but is sure of only one thing since her amnesia: she's going to be a mother and doesn't want to lose her child. When Marlene embraces Rosenda and vows through tears that she will take her away and let nothing happen to her, Dr. Pablo volunteers that he has relatives in Querétaro who can put them up gladly.

Marlene agrees and insists they must leave today; she'll arrange with the girlz and Phillip to handle business at this end. When Rosenda faces Marlene and asks quizzically why she would want to do such a thing -- for a stranger, Marlene must finally admit that the moment has come that Rosenda should know: Marlene is her mother, she says. Both women weep piteously as the words echo between them.

At the gypsy camp, Salma braces Griselda with what she overheard, that Jimena is not her niece and that Griselda abducted Jimena from her family. When Griselda tries to shut her up, Salma will only do so if they agree to take advantage of the situation.

And for what she has in mind, Salma needs to know Jimena's real name. Griselda reluctantly divulges Angela's name through gritted teeth, and Salma reveals her cunning plan. She herself will make up to the wealthy family as though she were their long-lost daughter -- and the family will grease their palms with cash.

At Jacinta's beach shack, Jimena kneels at the feet of María del Rosario, continuing to read the fortune in her palm. She sees the woman has suffered a lot; but Jimena brightly informs her all this is going to change. Jimena points out she's waited a long time for her son; and María del Rosario gasps to hear that he is going to arrive very soon in his ship.

María del Rosario stares at her two open hands and declares in a whisper that she always knew he would come for her! He's coming for her, she repeats wonderingly. Jimena agrees excitedly and begins reading again, but encounters a problem. Her son has a powerful enemy who will seek him out. Shocked, Jimena refuses to go on and will only grant that the enemy has ill intentions, which worries María del Rosario.

Meanwhile out on the ocean in his cabin on the coast guard ship, Renato lifts out the contents of a long box and stands stalwart, like the last samurai, wearing nothing but trousers and two swords -- and a pair of suspenders hanging around his slender hips. "Juan will pay very dearly for his lies and his betrayal!" he vows. After a few parries, he lops off the head of an unsuspecting candle.

Back at Dr. Pablo's, a furious and inconsolable Rosenda clings to Pablo as she accuses Marlene of being the cause of all the problems in her life. Marlene admits it and declares Rosenda will never know how sorry she is for having left her. She's tried to get close to Rosenda so she can get to know her and gain her forgiveness.

But Rosenda is far too upset and hurt for that; she doesn't remember much of her life, but Rosenda's sure she was very unhappy! Poor Pablo is stuck witnessing this miserable scene, and when even Marlene begging and screeching for forgiveness on bended knees doesn't move Rosenda, he steps in. Rosenda is just screaming for Marlene to leave when Pablo points out the poor woman is on the floor, suffering horribly!

Rosenda grits out that she's going to leave town, but alone -- Marlene's not going with her! When Rosenda says she never wants to see her again, Pablo has had enough. Now he grits out "Why can't you accept that this woman is your mother? Look at her at your feet, begging your forgiveness!" he shouts.

Maybe sincerity doesn't affect you? Maybe you don't know how to forgive? he bites out. A sober look passes over his face, and he says in a lower tone, "If that's so, maybe you aren't the woman I thought you were. Maybe you've fooled me." Pablo kneels to help Marlene up off the floor.

Rosenda doesn't seem to care; perhaps he was indeed fooled, she says -- she's leaving right away. But alone. She begins screeching again; get out! Get out! Get out! Rosenda buries her face in the bed pillow as Pablo leads weeping Marlene to the bedroom door.

Out in the hallway, when Marlene cries that she knew it, she knew Rosenda would not forgive her, Pablo reassures her and tries to calm her, saying Rosenda's reaction is normal; give her a little time. And he will talk to Rosenda; he thinks she will change her mind. He advises Marlene to confer with her people and get things set up to leave town, which she agrees to do.

Back in the bedroom, Pablo listens as Rosenda bitterly complains that her mother was supposed to protect her as a child, and he agrees. He doesn't deny Marlene caused her a lot of hurt. But life has given Rosenda a chance to make amends now when Rosenda needs her mother most, Pablo pleads.

He can't stand it that Rosenda's not thinking about her impending motherhood and horrendous mistakes she might have to make with her child, with things beyond her control. Pablo begs that Rosenda please take his advice and become a little more tolerant. She may have things to explain once she has a child, too. That's why it's so important to forgive.

Little by little, his words are sinking in through Rosenda's hurt and pain, and finally she turns to him and asks where all this is coming from. Why should he care if she forgives her mother? Pablo takes a big breath, casts a look around the room and relents, saying this probably isn't the best time. Rosenda is watching him.

He admits that during the time she was under his care, a feeling he thought he'd never feel again began growing. Moving close to face Rosenda, he rubs his hands nervously and simply says, "Rosenda, I love you." Pablo takes her hands gently, smiles and repeats, "I'm in love with you."

Rosenda looks into his eyes wonderingly, saying haltingly, "You...you love me?" Pablo smiles and admits it; the only thing he hopes is that one day she'll love him in return, he says. Separating a pace or two, they turn. He doesn't want to pressure her; he'd just like to know if he should hold out any hope.

A sobering Rosenda gazes at Pablo, shaking her head. Yes. Yes, Pablo, she says. He's pleased. They move together again and rejoin hands. There is hope, she says. Because she's come to love him, too, Rosenda tells him. As they embrace, we see a look of pained pleasure on Pablo's face. He takes her chin and kisses her softly, first on the lips and then on the hands.

In a short scene at Fulgencio's, once again he threatens to kill Servando if he doesn't show up with Griselda in tow. And later in another short scene, Federico and Servando mull over again connecting with Griselda; neither one of them trust her, but it seems unavoidable. They're going to have to be frank with her, Federico says; everyone has their price, he adds.

At the finca, Noel awaits Aimee outside her apartments with a serious topic in mind. When she appears, he begins, saying since she was a little girl, she was always vivacious and happy; and when she arrived home from Europe and Renato chose her for a wife, he was very happy for both of them. Except now...he's discovered -- the truth. The truth he's found out, that all this is her fault. That it was she who started all of it that will likely end in tragedy. How could she? HOW COULD SHE?

At the casino, Marlene has gathered and told the girlz and Phillip about leaving town; Phillip can hardly believe she wants him to handle the business. But they all giggle a little when Marlene gives him the signature cigarette holder and remarks it looks good on him. They are sad Marlene will be leaving; but she promises never to abandon them, as she is like a mother to them.

At Dr. Pablo's, Rosenda packs her bags in a better mood now; and Pablo fusses at her about her prescriptions. They face each other, and he says he'll be waiting for her -- and what's more, for the birth of their child. Rosenda looks up at him wonderingly -- our child? she asks. Pablo answers that he wants to give the baby his name.

He kneels down to cup the unborn child in his hands and press a kiss to Rosenda's abdomen. Our child, he repeats with a smile. He wants to take care of it and give it all of his affection. Rosenda smooths Pablo's hair with her hands; she's amazed he wants to take care of a child that isn't his.

Pablo rises and touches her face. It just shows love can grow when you want it to, he says. Rosenda turns aside, thoughtful; understanding dawning. "You're giving me a good lesson," she says. They face each other as Pablo tells her he hopes his words will touch her heart. He doesn't want her to make a mistake where her mother is concerned.

Whatever she decides, his feelings for Rosenda will never change. Rosenda smiles, and Pablo is just giving her another soft kiss when the door opens, and it's Marlene. She excuses herself for interrupting and will wait outside, she says; but Rosenda catches her up in the hallway. Please don't go, Rosenda asks.

Marlene returns and they enter the bedroom again, where Rosenda with Pablo looking on, tells a tearful Marlene that she needs her. She needs her with all her heart and soul. So, you forgive me? Marlene, asks. Rosenda does, and they make a tearful embrace. Of course she forgives her, Rosenda says.

Pablo looks very happy. And mother and daughter do also. Rosenda tells Marlene she understands she has suffered a lot, too. She doesn't want Marlene to ever leave her again, and Marlene won't, she says. And thus, for those of us who could not imagine how these two would get together again, it turned out the catalyst was Pablo's love that showed the way.

Later when the two women are about to leave, Pablo tells Marlene she's going to have to stop calling him "doctor." Marlene is delighted when Rosenda coyly explains their impending marriage. In a sweet ending to the scene, Pablo asks for Rosenda's hand on bended knee, Marlene gives them both together her blessing. Things couldn't have ended happier for Marlene, and she moves to the little devotional shelf to give a prayer of thanks.

At the casino, the doorbell rings, and it's a message from Rosenda explaining their plans and bidding goodbye. They are happy Rosenda accepted her mother, and Phillip declares there's nothing worse than denying your true self. It turns out, he reveals in a surprise to the girlz, that he is actually not who he seems.

Pulling his wig off to reveal a balding pate, he explains his real name is Filiberto Sánchez, actually a Mexican who went to France to become a dancer and faked a French accent. He wound up living on the streets in a sad state; but Marlene took him in, trusted him, gave him a job -- and most important of all -- befriended him.

Mateo the bartender accosts Griselda at the camp, wanting his money back for Jimena, but tough luck. Griselda tells him a deal is a deal; and if he couldn't keep her, it's his fault. They threaten each other, and the bartender exits in a huff.

Back at the finca, Noel is digging into Aimee in earnest: how could she fool Renato all this time and sacrifice her sister for her own sake? HOW COULD SHE?! he demands. Aimee denies everything ad nauseum, but Noel is not buying it. I don't believe you, Aimee, he says. DON'T...INSULT...MY...INTELLIGENCE, Noel threatens.

Aimee backs off slowly, speechless. "I...don't...believe...you!" Noel insists. He's getting to know her, he says; and he's feeling very deceived by her -- she who's supposed to be his son's wife. When Aimee objects at how he could speak to her so, Noel simply declares, because he has his rights.

He's sure she's deceived all of them; he'd never have guessed she had so much evil in her soul to fool everybody so thoroughly. When Aimee starts to swear by the memory of her mother, Noel stops her cold, saying not to dare sully her good mother's name. Don't fall even further, trying to save yourself. Aimee rubs her tummy.

Noel continues, saying for the time being don't utter another word so as to not hurt Renato any more. Noel turns away, miserable -- "...nor my grandchild," he adds. Turning back, he says in his menacing whisper that the great affection he had for her is dead -- and not because she loved some other man, but for lies and betrayal. Noel exits with Aimee feigning tears and downcast visage; but out of sight, she snaps her fan and grits her teeth.

At Noel's office, he rushes in to discuss Juan's desperate situation with Gabriel. He couldn't stop Renato, and he hopes Gabriel attempted to warn Juan, which Gabriel did. He trusts the cable he sent will reach Juan in time to prevent him coming ashore anywhere.

But out in the Caribbean, the boyz apparently do not know. Remigio greets Regina, coming on deck after staying below resting all day. Then Juan spies her with a big smile and greets her and asks why she hasn't gone ashore with Remigio. Regina teases him, saying, what -- she doesn't have a husband for that? He promised he would take her, she reminds him.

Juan chuckles and warms to the topic, explaining they're having a big festival on the island at the moment. He asks guardedly if she's ever done any Caribbean dancing; and when Regina hedges, saying she likes to listen to the music, Juan's clearly relieved. He claims he's a rotten dancer, laughing. He invites her to go together, and Regina notes why don't they all go -- so Juan gives the boyz the night off, courtesy of Miss Regina.

At the festival, Regina and Juan toast each other with something strong from pineapple cups and talk, Regina remarking on the nice breeze. He wonders why he had the impression that the sea or sailing would bore her; and she claims the only thing that bores her is phony people. Lies and games annoy her. And people who take advantage.

Juan says what bothers him is excess baggage: he likes to live simple with things that don't cost anything -- like this festival, he gestures. The sky; the earth; the sea. Juan and Regina turn to each other, faces close -- "...and this breeze you mentioned."

She looks him in the eyes, asking him to explain why he's so different than he was this morning, not that she wants to remember, she says. He asks her pardon; he didn't mean to offend her, he says. If she'd like to know, it bothered him a lot to think she sent a letter to Renato. It made him jealous. Regina is amazed -- jealous? she asks incredulously.

Of course, jealous! Juan replies quickly. You're my wife, he answers earnestly. I don't mean to share you with anybody! Juan takes Regina gently by the chin to get her attention. "I want to be very clear: absolutely nobody!" Regina nods in agreement, and they toast each other. Salud!

Meanwhile on the coast guard ship, the last samurai continues practicing to skewer Juan.

Jeri: I knew you would pick the perfect picture and you did. I'm melting...I had to comment before I read your recap. In all honesty, I knew Juan and Regina were speaking in their brief scene together but all I could process was how handsome Juan looked in that red shirt. I thought blue was his color, but the red was mesmerizing - huge, deep sigh.

Now onto the recap...

Diana

Diana, oh, good! I'm so glad you like it; that's a relief. All the best pictures seem to be at nighttime (wink, wink), which is a challenge technically. There's not a lot of information in dark pictures.

But apparently enough, eh? I loved the way he touched her chin and got her attention. His hands are SO LOVELY!!! Did I mention that, LOL. His wedding band looks dreamy on him.

I agree with Diana on the picture. Big sigh.... Great recap Jeri. I haven't been able to watch this episode yet. It souns like a good one. More later.

Thanks for a great recap Jeri. Loved Juan and Regina together at the fiesta. Come on Regina tell Juan the letter was for Clemencia.

I am glad that Rosenda and Marlene made up but I don't think I could have forgiven her that easily. That was pretty horrible that she went off and left her daughter behind knowing what her daughters life would be like. I was very glad that the doctor and Rosenda got together.

Boy, Renato has just lost it. Can't imagine what can happen here. I would really like to see him and Juan reunited, but don't know what could make that happen. I just hope he doesn't get himself killed. I still think there is a kind and decent man in there somewhere.

Really enjoyed Aimee's beat down by Noel. She is such a piece of work, the things he said didn't even bother her.

Jeri, another spectacular recap, just lovely to read.

You conveyed the gamut of emotions last night flawlessly: "Both women weep piteously as the words echo between them"; as well as: "And thus, for those of us who could not imagine how these two would get together again, it turned out the catalyst was Pablo's love that showed the way." Beautiful...

So many heartfelt and touching moments including Rosenda and Marlene's reconciliation and Philippe's revealing his true identity and his journey from an unhappy past to acceptance and happiness through Marlene.

I cheered when Noel told Aimee not to take him for a fool. Her world is unraveling at lightening speed.

Renato's free fall continues as "the last samurai continues practicing to skewer Juan". Ack...

I think I may have to take a journey through Aribeth's photos to continue researching my answer to what is Juan's best color. :)

Diana

Jeri, you are so right about the hands! So masculine and strong and...well, I could go on and on.

Your picture captured everything about the essence of the man that simply makes me swoon.

Diana

Lynda, I know what you mean about Renato and Juan; I'm not even exactly positive what sent Renato off his nut in the first place. But he is definitely off his nut. It will be interesting to see how he comes back, though.

Diana, I LOVED when Noel said "DON'T...INSULT...MY...INTELLIGENCE!" Woo! That's a line that could get a lot of employment in telenovelas but isn't heard often enough, LOL.

Thank you very much, Jeri!

Summary:
link

Don't. Insult. My. Intelligence! Oh, I love Noel so much. He and Pablo outshone everyone in this episode.

Meanwhile on the coast guard ship, the last samurai continues practicing to skewer Juan.

LOL, I call Renato samurai, too. :))

I actually chose a picture with Pablo in it, too; but went with the Juan. I loved Pablo.

Jeri, whar a great recap and I loved the picture. Juan is so hot in the red shirt and necklaces. It looked like another great tender moment between him and Regina. I love that Dr. and Rosenda finally declared their love for each other, hopefully they will be able to stay alive and get married. I love that the dr. has finally found someone to love since he couldn't have Regina. Too bad Renato can't be more like him instead of a whiny stupid fool who should be glad that even Aimee still wants him. I do think him and Aimee really deserve each other. I'm glad Noel finally confronted Aimee about her behavior. He's finally speaking his mind and hopefully will also find someone worthy of his affections, instead of his lying cheating wife Leo. Can't wait for friday to come, hopefully Juan will be on most of the show. Terrylee from Ashtabula

Jeri, great recap and terrific picture.

I have been surprised to see Juan with his ring. I thought the gave it Clem.

OMG, I cannot believe that Salma is going to pawn herself off as Mariela's daughter. Please get the anvils out before this happens.

I think that Regina is a goner - heads over heels in love with Juan. It is about time. Now if only Juan would wake up.

Noel was terrific as usual. I loved the dressing down of Aimee.

Rosemary

Rosemary: Thank you for mentioning Salma's insidious plan to pawn herself off as Jimena. I meant to comment on it myself before I got, ummmm, distracted...

Though despicable, it is rather an ingenious plan. Salma is quite the cunning little schemer. It's a good thing she and Leo don't run in the same social circles, they'd be formidable allies.

That was an unwelcome (but clever) plot device. If only the writing was this good in the beginning of the story, more people would have stayed so banishing this to the midnight hour wouldn't have occurred.

Diana

About the ring. If you remember well Huan took the ring in his pocket and I have seen the ring in his finger even in prevoius scenes in the boat.
It was only one moment when talking to clem but after that he always had the ring. at least this is my impression.
MariaN
Ps Thanks for the caps... very interesting.

Thank you Jeri for the great recap, and you, Kat, for yesterdays as well! I don't always have much time to comment as I'm usually doing so at work. I am a busy single mom, but comment when I can. Recaps, comments, are always totally appreciated!

For me this episode was a little too much Marlene and Rosenda crying, even though of course the situation called for it. Pablo is such a wonderful man, so understanding and wise, my goodness! Rosie is lucky to have him.

Renato as the last samurai, LOL!! He has gone off the deep end, his denial of the letter made that obvious.

That part about Salma was disturbing, those poor people don't need any more pain.

Lovely photo of Juan. I do think Regi looks like she is wearing a tablecloth, though, as someone (Kat?) said yesterday.

Diana:
If only the writing was this good in the beginning of the story

I completely agree. Mejía has great ideas and has talent, but he isn't talented and intelligent enough to make really good, balanced telenovelas. I wish the script had been better, especially at the beginning.
The hatred against this telenovela never ends: crap, mierda, fracaso, awful, disaster, the Devil's device... While we know that the second half of the story is entertaining and enchanting and isn't worse than many other huge Telerisa successes.

Ivy: I was the one who mentioned the tablecloth. :) The first three dresses of Regina (red scarf + red corset; white veil + black corset; white scarf + red corset;) were lovely, but this yellow thing is too much for me.

For William Levy fans: the shooting of Por derecho de sangre (the remake of Cuna de lobos) began yesterday. It'll be an American-type series, like Mujeres asesinas: 13 episodes in one season. The crew is working on the pilot episode.

The cast so far:
William Levy, Danna García (Un gancho al corazón), Rafael Amaya (Las dos caras de Ana), Dominika Paleta (MEPS), Manuel Ojeda (our Fulgencio), María Rojo (Clemencia) and Rebecca Jones, who'll be the new Catherine Creel.

In the meantime he's working on his new telenovela which will switch STD in Mexico in September. The story seems to be a mess, he wants to mix the scripts of Mi rival (by Inés Rodena) and one or two Fiallo classics (Cristal, aka El privilegio de amar) and horrors (Leonela).
He'd like to work with Maite Perroni, Bill Levy, Victoria Ruffo, Lety Calderón or Daniela Romo and Lupita Ferrer. We'll see.

For the Levy fans, here's the awesome tattoo he'll wear in the series: link
And the first video:
link
As I said before, Levy is not exactly my cup of tea, but gawd, that fake tattoo is hot. :)

Another beautiful recap that reads like a novel. Thank you Jeri. And like everyone else I LOVE the photo. What I like best about the picture is it so BIG, the better for this lady who's at the "large print" age to appreciate the fine work Dios poderoso did on this manchild. Sooooo fine. And so are you, Jeri. Super writer. If they'd had your help on the script, things would have gone better.

Aribeth, you always give us the latest and greatest scoop - thank you!

The Por derecho de sangre cast looks great. While I prefer tall, dark and handsome, Levy is very good looking and has a beutiful smile. The tatoo was great.

Although Mejía's casting choices for his new story are stellar, his storyline - not so much. It's like taking a wonderful, simple recipe and then ruining it by adding other ingredients that detract from rather than add to the flavor.

I guess he didn't learn anything from this - too bad.

Diana

Thank you so much Jeri! A wonderful recap as always!

I thought the reunion of Rosenda and Marlene was the most touching moment of this whole novela (so far). Marlene is one of my favorite characters. She is so universally human; the details would be different, but her life story could be anyone's. The scene where Pablo proposes and Marlene gives her blessing had me in tears. Who'd have thought that Arcadio's bashing Rosenda in the head would actually turn her life around?

Love, love, love Noel! He's certainly got Aimee's number. Has Rene Casadas ever played a villain? That husky whisper of his could raise the hair on your neck...

Renato may be off the deep end, but he sure looks good. Since Aimless and Regina don't want him, I'll volunteer to take him off their hands ;-)

I have my doubts that Salma and Grizzy's plan will pass the "smell test" with Mariela. I would think she'd have parents in the gypsy camp. Griz needs Servando to back her story, Servando needs Griz to back his... who's going to backstab first?

Loved the recap Jeri. I was worried for a minute there that we would have no Juan and Regina scenes tonight. They were well worth it. Juan and Regina are growing closer while Renato in his vengeance hazed mind is on his way to destroy Juan. I'm glad that Rosenda forgave her mother and they are embarking on renewing their relationship as she prepares to give birth to her baby and she also has Pablo's love and a wedding awaiting her. Great wrapup to that story. Loved Noel's blistering verbal smackdown to Aimee. She's just about turned everyone away from her and has no one in her corner. She can't blame anyone for herself because all she cares about is herself. I wonder how long will she play her baby card before that folds on her.

Regarding Madame and her daughter, Rosenda - In previous episodes much earlier in this show - I somehow got the impression that the father of Madame's child was Roderigo - if that is correct, does that mean Roderigo impregnanted his own daughter, Rosenda also? Could someone clear this up for me? My Spanish is very limited therefore I am most appreciative of the recaps because they clarify so many issues. Thanks again for all of your translations.

Diana, you're welcome, and again I agree.
On the other hand, I like that Mejía doesn't want to make clone telenovelas. He's always bashed because he produces remakes but people forget to mention that most of the time he alters the original stories... unlike other big producers. It's easy to make a good telenovela when one simply follows the original script closely, and I always preferred those remakes that captured the essence of the previous version and made a different story instead of copying the scenes. Carlos Moreno, the producer of ENDA and his writers reformed the story of Cadenas de amargura and hopefully his La mentira remake will be a "free adaptation" too. Well, we know that unfortunately Mejía has a great talent for screwing up his hybrid telenovelas (poor CS...), because he's a mediocre producer but at least he TRIES to make something different. :) He needs a new writer (Blanco and Pena, por favor :)) because Liliana Abud isn't the same awesome woman anymore who wrote Yo compro esa mujer, La otra, Amarte es mi pecado and Barrera de amor. In my opinion she needs to rest for a while.

I forgot to mention, though I think it's obvious that in the sentence "In the meantime he's working on his new telenovela" he = Mejía. :) The other 9:00 timeslot producers (Estrada, Larrosa) are either tired, or already busy with their projects (Díaz), so it'll be Mejía's turn to make a new hit or failure.

***
Jeri, thanks again the great recap, and as usual I enjoyed the comments very much. :)
You'll like the next episode.

Back to CS:
They face each other, and he says he'll be waiting for her -- and what's more, for the birth of their child.

This was one of the cutest moments of the telenovela. Pablo, you're perfect.

I would have been annoyed with the lack of Juan and Reggie times, if it weren't for the fact that I was so drawn into the lovely wrap up of Rosenda's story. I was very mooved by it. Madame cried just a bit too much for me, but I felt that Rosie's emotions were right on. I even felt like she had every right to be ticked off at Madame, although Pablo scolded her for it. And as proud of her as Dr. Pablo that she was able to forgive. Loved how the story of their love played out, and his declaring the baby "theirs." The actress also looks quite beutiful being pregnant in real life.

Anon- Rod is not Rosie's dad. It was the drunkard servant who abandoned Juan in the forest. Rod and Marlene "congressed" once, and that was when Rosie was a little girl, and just before Marlene stole from Rod and ran off.

Rosenda is not Rodrigo's child. She was a little girl of about 6 when he came back to the finca. Her mother's husband (a drunken lout as I recall) was her father.

Interesting connection that Rosenda and Pablo have. On the same night his uncle delivered Juan (and was killed on Rod's orders to keep the birth quiet); and her dad abandoned newborn Juan in the forest (on Leo's orders).

Jeri, thanks for the pic and recap. ITA w/you and Diana that Noel's line to Aimee was the best (and should be used in more novelas).

I'm happy Rosenda and Marlene are reconciled. However, Rod's hit is on both Rosenda and the good Dr. I hope he can stay safe until the end of the novela so he and Rosie can marry.

Aribeth - thanks for pics.

I'm just wondering when it will hit Noel that Aimee just might be lying about the baby, too.

Gracias, Jeri! You make this sound way more compelling than it actually is when watching :)

Jeri, thanks for that enthralling recap. Lol at "lops off the head of an unsuspecting candle."

A very nice mother and child reunion with Rosenda and Marlene. Dr. Pablo rocks! He's wise, compassionate, and nice looking. Sweet scene with the blessing of the couple. Let's hope they stay safe until the boda & baby.

I'm anxious about the Jimena/Mariela mother/child reunion. Lots of rocks in the road ahead for this one, but it has to happen. After all, the bromance team swore a blood oath.

Another guy who rocks is Noel. He did a masterful job of telling off Aimee and is the center of integrity for this bunch of M de O crazies. He has really impressed me in this role.

Juan, Regi, and the pineapple drinks were fun at the beach bash. I did want to see them dance, but at least they're making progress.

Despite Ren's sword practice, I wouldn't count on him being able to best Juan at swordplay. Juan won't stand still like the candle did.
La Paloma

Loved the picture, Jeri. I was teaching a class the last 2 days that contained all women. I have had a debate with some of the blog ladies as to who is better looking (sexier) Yanez or Colunga. I'm partial to Yanez. Showed my class pictures of them both. All seven ladies agree that Eduardo Yanez is better looking and sexier than Fernando Colunga. I did not sway the vote in any way.
Can't wait for further developments in the Juan and Regina area. He's basically stated his whole plan and that is to keep Regina as his wife and by his side only. He's so in love with her!!!!!

Thank you Jeri for the wonderful recap, and the screen cap of our sweethearts Juan and Regi. :)

I'm happy that Pablo and Rosenda have finally found true love and Rosie and Marlene have made up.

I'm over the top celebrating that finally Noel scolded and disciplined Aimee for the evil lies and acting like a spoiled rotten selfish brat. Now we need Noel or someone to do the same with Rod and Renato.

Jeri love your description of Renato as the last samurai.

Jody :)

Jeri, I'm behind as usual(drat Univision's time change) but also as usual, I have a clear picture, thanks to your recap. Excellent detail and hilarious asides and observations. Thanks.

Kat's recap yesterday is also another work of art. Belated thanks to you Kat. Both of your recaps are golden.

Jeri, you made a comment about Juan possibly ending up in the slammer. I had the same thought watching Juan and Regina on the boat with Juan teaching her the finer points of sailing. I can envision him in the pokey and her taking command of the crew and the ship. They adore her and she'd make a beautiful pirate queen.

Xintperuvian, did you see la Madrastra? René Casadas played Bruno, a character of ambiguous morals and sexuality (he looked great with makeup including eyeliner) who was in the running as the psycho killer right up to the last few episodes. He was absolutely over the top (actually, the entire show was).

Thanks, Jeri. That picture is muy h.o.t. Your recaps always read like very well-written romance novels. They are a joy to read. Since yesterday was my last day of class, I managed to stay up to watch this show. I was beginning to lose hope that Reggie and Juan would be on at all. Then, WOW...Gidget and The Big Kahuna go to a clambake on the beach complete with exotic pineapple drinks and people doing the Bristol stomp. Diana~~Like you, I would be hard pressed to decide between Juan in the red or blue shirt...but I am leaning toward the red..partly because that color looks so good against Juan's dark skin and black hair. Muy guaypo hombre. I only understand bits and pieces of the dialogue , but even I got Noel's message to Aimee loud and clear.'' Don't. insult. my. intelligence'' I'm enjoying seeing the actor playing Pablo as a good guy. He sometimes plays the villain. He played Susana Gonzales cheating, teen-seducing husband in Mujers Asessenos and a bad guy who tried to rape the heroine in Duelo de Pasiones [unsuccessfully due to a failure to launch]. In this novela, he is sweet, kind, protective, and forgiving, but the bowtie has to go. This show just keeps getting better and better.

Barbara~~~Re: Big Ed vs, FC. Jardinera and I had this debate awhile ago. We decided that one's choice has to do with whether one prefers the quarterback type or the linebacker type. I dated quarterbacks , but ended up marrying a linebacker...thus, I tend to lean toward Ed...but FC is a very close second. To really get the full effect of FC's many charms, you have to see him in Alborada and Amor Real. I like his look in Alborada the best...long hair, mustache and beard, waistcoats and poet shirts and leggings
[?] and boots. Yeah, Baby. They are both goodlooking guys with great smiles and charm to spare. They are both good actors and excellent kissers. It's a very hard choice. Don't fight it. In fantasy, you can have the quarterback AND the linebacker.

Mad Bess,

"... you can have the quarterback AND the linebacker."

Aimee had the same thought and it's one of the very things that has her into such a bind.

Vivi in DC - Thank you so much for clarifying who is Rosenda's father. I never got that quite clear because of the the April 15 Flashback episode - that has been bothering me for weeks and I thank you so much. Love this telenovela and apreciate your reply.

Mad Bess and Carlos - LOL!!

Thank you very much, ladies and gentleman. :-) JudyB, to paraphrase Denyce Graves on Sesame Street about opera, "in telenovelas we like things BIG!"

xlnt, I was crying like a baby during the Pablo/Rosenda/Marlene scenes! Wow, they did a fabulous job on this storyline -- and the actors made it work properly. They were terrific. All props to them. What pros! I had chosen a back up photo with Pablo and Rosenda, if anyone wants to see or copy it.

I have my doubts about Salma's story passing the smell test, too. But Mariela is pretty desperate at this point, so it may take a while for them to come to their senses.

Vivi great observation about Pablo and Rosenda's connection from long ago. I love stuff like that.

Carlos, Pirate queen! What a great idea! You're right; the crew does like her.

Mad Bess, Gidget and the Big Kahuna! I did LOL. Also, we mentioned before here that Dr. Pablo was also an arch villain in La Otra -- he committed INCEST even. Knowingly and with malice. Whew. I'm just loving the character here, though I even liked him in La Otra. He's good.

Carlos, thanks for the tip. I will have to find La Madrastra on YouTube. Sounds really good!

Oho! Well, that episode certainly made up for Tuesday's snoozefest! They should have just called it, "Doctorcito Knows Best." Or "Everybody Loves Pablo!"

The entire night was just full of delicious alpha-male-ing, though. Pablo pulling it all together, Juan taking pointed possession of his wife, Noel laying down the law.... We seriously need to get Doctorcito and Noel teaming up. I can't imagine any two people on this novela that could cut through the crap and get to the bottom of things faster.

If anybody needs me, I'll be off with my fan, swooning in delight and crossing my fingers for a very heavy anvil to fall for Salma very soon. But first!

Renato, in a wrap (but without a shirt): "I am manly man! I kill tables!"

(Juan: "I-really-Juan-a better enemy.")

"Doctor Knows Best" -- that is good! I should have thought of it; I think I was overcome by the sentimentality of this episode, though.

Mad Marley, if you have any advice about my taking a trail-riding lesson, please write me at wilmawilcat at yahoo dot commercial. :-)

Jeri: Thanks. Juan del Dios del Diablo sure can turn up the heat. His chemistry set just about melted my TV.
