El Mundo de Telemundo: Week of February 7, 2011

ALGUIEN TE MIRA – últimas semanas

We’ve had horrible moments of graphic violence before but nothing like the sustained hideous sadism of Julián’s triple murder: Daniel’s lawyer, the lawyer’s secretary, and finally, Daniel himself.

Up to now, Julián has eluded justice with a combination of meticulous planning, skill and dumb luck. But this time -- this time! -- we were sure the forensic evidence would be irrefutable. The detectives would analyze the murder scene checking for things like gunshot residue, bullet trajectory, skill needed to resect a heart and suture the wound closed. And they would conclude that the scene was only staged to make Daniel Vidal appear guilty. They would know that Vidal was just a victim here. And this would lead them back to the police investigators’ prime suspect: Julián García.

Well. Obviously it didn’t happen that way. This Chicago Police Department is hobbled by forensic science more suitable to a 1940’s film noir than a modern-day thriller. Luisa Carvajal’s objections are drowned out by her superiors. They buy Julián’s staged crime. He goes free.

We move ahead several months. Despite Julián’s best efforts to incriminate him as the accomplice of Daniel Vidal, Rodrigo is finally exonerated and set free.

The bellies on Lola and Piedad are ready to pop. Even Lucía looks pregnant now -- whether it’s with a pillow or a baby, we can only guess.

Pedro Pablo is still in exile from the family home although amazingly, he has managed to keep clear of Lucía. Now that Rodrigo is free, Pedro Pablo will have to find somewhere else to live.

Benja is on the straight and narrow, living with Lola and the girls and seeing his kids regularly. He’d like to get back with Tati but she’s decided it’s her turn to be the wild girl. Uh oh. Alguien te mira, Tatiana!

Camila is a college girl. Let’s hope nobody tells her about Spring Break or the College Girls Gone Wild franchise.

Matilde is home with her parents and Emilio. Her emotional reactions to names and events are eloquent. Unfortunately, we, the viewers, are the only ones who can read them. Her doctor tells her parents about a surgical procedure that may help her. Julián does his best to scare them away from it.

In her campaign to win Rodrigo’s love, Valeria has finally taken the gloves off. Literally. Hat’s off, too. Not that it helps – he’s still obsessed with pea-brain Piedad.

Piedad promises to call him for the baby’s birth. She insists her engagement with Julián is still on but she is living apart from him until after the baby is born.

Julián’s Dr. Jekyll is determined to keep his Mr. Hyde at bay. You can almost hear him muttering under his breath: Must. not. kill. While the ever-more seductive Fantasma de Eva whispers in his ear: You know you want to.

Okay. Your turn.

Good one NovelaMaven.

I have to ask did Loca Lucia get pregnant before Piedad? I know she was claiming she was pregnant before Lola? I think that's a pillow because she was barely showing. If Piedad is ready to give birth she shouldn't be so far behind her.

Boy did i love the look on pea-brain face when Valeria only wearing Rodrigo's shirt after they had their afternoon delight. I was cheering during both scenes.

How in the heck is Matilde being let go from the hospital where's her personal nurse?

Lola does have a nerve trying to tell Tatiana she should take back Benja glad Tatiana asked her why she doesn't take back Pedro Pablo then. That certainly shut her up real quick.

When did they decide to call the baby Sofia?

This was more of a filler episode but it was enjoyable to see Rodrigo being with someone else and Piedad seeing he was with someone else too. You know by her expression she wasn't liking it one bit. Sorry Piedad but it's not all about you.

I'm also sick of this little game you're playing between two grown men who don't get along because of you. You want to keep punishing Rodrigo who has a sickness but at the same time you want him to stay faithful and worship only you and not be with another woman yeah that sounds like it's sane.

HEREDEROS Friday

This novela seems to be about paternity- First, we will doubtless learn the true paternity of all the adopted brothers. This has already started with the revelation that Amador's lost elder brother is Lucas.

All the married women in town apparently had affairs with Don Emilio so the paternity of the children of inés, Rosa and maybe Modesto's dead wife (Efraín's mother) are in question.

Sofía has had other relationships so Paula might not be Don Emilio's child.

Meanwhile, Jose has continued in the family tradition by fathering a child on a married woman.

And, of course, Sofía is having an affair with Miguel. It was funny in last night's episode when Sofía thought Rosa was confronting her about her relationship with Miguel when she was actually talking about Paula's relationship with Juan.

Suspending Consuelo from school for meeting her boyfriend was hardly a punishment. She was ecstatic about not having to go to class.

Wussy Julieta takes Juan back but apparently she demands that he throw Sofía and Paula out of the house at least until the probate process awards her ownership of it. That's a much better idea that living in a small house with Rosa and Miguel!!

ALGUIEN

Lol Blu! I also enjoyed the initial Rodrigo Valeria moments and seeing Piedad suffering!!! although I felt hey jumped to bed too fast. Buy I am sad that he can't get over Piedad. We already know he loves her deeply but can't he give Valeria (and himself) a real chance to try to move on? At least try? Hs body was with Valeria but his spirit wasn't there. Although kudos to my girls for taking full advantage of the situation :D But seriously, this will only end up hurting her more. No happy ending in the horizon for any of our characters here. I think Valeria is doomed because she said she had an abortion (You know what will happen if Julian finds out, and he always finds out about everything) So I wish Rodrigo could try to be a little happy and make Valeria happy while Piedad is still in DARN SELFISH AND STUPID mode.

ALGUIEN - FRIDAY

That was an excellent, succinct description of where we are right now, Novela Maven!

Some things I noticed: Valeria kisses Rodrigo in front of the cameras? Say what? Guess that was in there so we could see how upset it made Piedad.

I also wondered when Piedad decided on Sofía. For a minute there I thought Paula's mother from Herederos had wondered onto the set.

It was very sweet of Valeria to give Rodrigo that framed sonogram photo, especially because she knows the baby ties him to Piedad.

That was a very sad story Valeria told about her forced abortion.

I was screaming at my TV when Julián was playing the expert doctor and trying to talk her parents out of Mathilde having surgery. I thought Piedad gave him a suspicious look also. What I was screaming was: Bastard!!!

Piedad also gave him a bit of the stinkeye when he tried to tell her not to let Rodrigo in if he showed up at her door. Really? After he's been proven innocent? She knows this can only be obsessive jealousy.

I was surprised at Valeria and Rod making love. Although, it was logical. And you know this is not a Univision novela, where the main galán never makes love to anyone but the heroine unless he's been drugged or drunk and only thinks he did it! This was very realistic. Rodrigo is a normal man, Piedad's completely rejected him, Valeria has been in his corner all along, and she's very sexy.

What was also realistic was Rodrigo not feeling good about it afterwards. He knew he'd probably given Valeria false expectations. After the lust was gone, he was just left feeling sad.

I suppose they are setting up Tatiana as a possible victim with her little wild spell. Actually, I don't blame her a bit. I haven't liked her much in the past, but now I understand her better. She's letting Benja be a father, and she's trying to prove to herself that she's desirable. All perfectly understandable, and I'm pretty sure this phase would be over in a while and that the kids will be fine.

I was annoyed at self-righteous Lola coming over to preach at her. It's really none of her business.

I don't care for Valeria. She knows Rodrigo is deeply in love with Piedad but she refuses to give up and keeps pushing herself on him.

I can't stand those gloves and that hat either. I see nothing modelish about her.

Can someone tell me why no one has tried to find some way of communication with Mathilde...what about the eye blinking method. She seems to have normal eye movement???

ALGUIEN - FRIDAY

Sorry for all the omissions!!!

HEREDEROS - FRIDAY

I guess there was some plot movement. I don't hate this novela, but compared with Alguien te Mira it seems weak.

I enjoyed seeing Juan firmly rejecting both Paula and Pedro for the despicable taping. But I think we all know he's not going to stick to his guns for long.

I loved seeing Inez get into Rosa's face. I guess we're to assume it was Rosa who ratted Inez out to Eleuterio. Does this mean he's right that she's only back to take revenge and doesn't really care about Guadalupe? I hope not.

The scenes with Berta in them just drive me nuts. I want to shake the writers like a dog with a rat. Come on! Scene after scene of intimate family discords and decisions about the children and she's right there, standing rigid as a board interjecting her opinions about what should be done. It's nuts.

I loved seeing Juan throwing Sofía and Paula out. I hope it wasn't a red herring and next week we'll still see the two of them smirking around the corners. I know they're not going away, but I'd like to see them somewhere else for a while.

ALGUIEN TE MIRA

Those of us over on Telenovela world were VERY disappointed to find out that they are stretching out Alguien Te Mira till probably Feb 28th. Arrrgh! It may be because they want to debut La Reina del Sur in Spain and Puerto Rico at the same time as in the US. Or - otherwise it has to do with delaying the premier of La Reina del Sur.

And Friday was mostly filler - real drawn out filler. And I have a feeling we're in for that kind of meaningly filler for the next two weeks before they can get back to wrapping up the story. Major downer.

Yep - Lucy is suspiciously small compared to Lola and Piedad who both look ready to pop! I think she bribed the doctor to show a fake sonogram of a boy.

And the one of the most depressing post-coital "bonding" scenes I have ever seen between Rodrigo and Valeria. They both looked lost and disappointed.

But, YAY!, Valeria finally took off her glittens! I think she was wearing the ugly green ones for 4 months straight!

LOS HEREDEROS

[Just so everyone knows: Pedro and Paula made a video of Paula seducing Juan 2 nights before the wedding - the night of his "despedida de soltera". Then Pedro showed it to Julieta the morning of the wedding. Their goal was to stop the wedding - to show Julieta that Juan was "in love with someone else" or at least fooling around with Paula. It didn't work. Julieta decided to marry him anyway. She's pregnant with his child for one thing, and apparently thought things could be different. Juan doesn't seem to care that he melts like a candle whenever Paula slinks up to him. He is not willing to change his life plan. Anyways, both Juan and Julieta looked like they were attending a funeral during their wedding ceremony, and the honeymoon was pretty awkward as well.]

Friday - finally things really started to happen in this Novela! Friday's episode was very, very amusing.

The $h!t really hit the fan for Juan. Julieta finally corners him on his fooling around with Paula which he angrily and vehemently denies right to her face until she drops the bombshell of the video tape. Telling him what a bald-faced liar he is! Then he berates Julieta for marrying him after having seen it! LOL! Then he demands that they both forget it and go forward just like they always planned, but Julieta says she can't forget and for Juan to get away from her.

Then Juan goes off in a huff to berate Pedro and Paula at the hacienda. It was great! Now, one didn't get the impression that Juan thought he personally was at fault for any of this - he was too busy reading the riot act to everyone else.

Juan stomps back out of the hacienda. And his parting shot to Paula is - "You are the most twisted woman I have ever met!". That had me rolling on the floor laughing! Hilarious!

And later in the episode, Juan returns to the hacienda with Julietta and they tell Paula and Sofia to leave.

It was awesome!

Ooooh - and it was SO SWEET seeing Rosa brought down a peg or to - Yeah! What a hypocrite!

I think I'll just sit back and have fun watching all these prissy people's lives fall apart! BWAHAHAHA!

Audrey

P.S. I'm really not a vindictive person.......

HEREDEROS -

Jean, good point about all the paternity plot points.

I didn't like Lucas's reaction to Amador's telling him he was his brother. I know it's just the initial shock, and he'll probably change, but it seemed as if Lucas was into the "we are superior" mode, almost as much as Rosa is. Probably most of the characters have some connection to being rich, and some connection to being poor. But until they find out, they act as if those tracks are built in, not determined by life experiences.

At this point, just about every character is mad at someone, either a family member or a rival. One thing this novela does not have is your friendly local preacher, who is usually a stabilizing influence. Did you notice that when Juan and Julieta got married, we only heard his voice?

ALGUIEN -

I loved your summary, NovelaMaven. And the comments have been really good, too, hard hitting, but with a lot of truth.

I keep have this nagging feeling that Piedad is just too crazy to have a happy ending with Rod - that someone, she'll go just as nuts as Julian. It's unlikely, and would be shocking, but what if?

We didn't see Luisa at all in this episode. I wonder if she will have changed anything, such as her hairstyle, when we see her next. Eva changed her hairstyle right before she got too close.

As for Matilde blinking, since everyone knows that's what you try to get a paralyzed person to do (not in real life, I mean in novelas), it must be that although she closes her eyes at times, she has no control over it. Or maybe everybody's really stupid, and some child (Emilio, for example, or Isadora) will think of it, amaze the parents and save the day. Nah, we'll just have to wait for "the operation" to be done despite Julian's helpful opinions.

I meant to say "somehow", not someone, in discussing Piedad's possible turn to the dark side.

HEREDEROS - FRIDAY

Yes, Hombre, I agree with you about Lucas' reaction to Amador's saying they were brothers. I had expected better of him. From the way Amador brought it up it didn't seem as if he was at all wanting to cash in on the relationship. He said he was just doing what his mother wanted. And a mother wanting to re-connect with a child that she, for some reason, gave up for adoption is the most natural thing in the world. Lucas was shooting the messenger in a most unpleasant way.

HEREDEROS

Lucas is very immature; is he possibly still a virgin?

Don Emilio was not thinking clearly when he made out his will.

ALGUIEN
You guys are fabulous, what a great recap from NovelaMaven with outstanding responses, I've been reading and rereading everyone's posts, I disagree on comments about Piedad, then I agree, what a wonderful site. I wonder if Telemundo appreciates this website. I was in a mindset that this novela was ending this week, I can't believe they've extended it until at least the 28th, uuuggghhh. It's funny but I said the same thing about loca lucy, I thought she looked too small. It's hard for me to witness Tatiana, as a friend of mine went throught the same thing and Tatiana seems to be mirroring her. I hope she gets her act together, but it's true as stated this is Alguien.

ALGUIEN

Fantastic comments and a great summary NovelaMaven. I saw an ad for Alguien and it said final capitulos, so I don't think it's being extended to the 28th (at least I hope not).

HEREDEROS

I just love reading y'all's comments. Since I don't watch Alguien, Herederos is the one I'm enjoying the most (over Aurora and Triunfo del Amor).

HEREDEROS- Besides the fact that we have to have some plot development here, I don't think Lucas' reaction to Amador's revelation is all that surprising. He's young (he seems too young to be Amador's elder brother but maybe Amador has had a harder life.) It's not that surprising that he apparently never wondered about his biological parents since he was happy with his adopted family. His first reaction to Amador would be denial.

Novelera- I'm not watching it but Alguien seems to be an extraordinary novela. Herederos so far, is a conventionial novela so it's not surprising that it pales in comparison.

Alguien

It seems that whatever is going on that the commercial breaks are a lot longer than they normally are.

Piedad walks through the park remembering her confrontation with Valeria and her state of dress.

Rodrigo is asked by Valeria if what they did was a mistake, he's in a daze and unreponsive at first until Valeria tells him she leave.Rodrigo comes to his senses and ask Valeria to stay and to try a relationship. Looks like he is tired of Piedad letting him down and decides to move on finally. Not saying it's going to work with Valeria but it's about time he stops dancing to Piedad's tune.

Piedad discovers her water broke and gets to a park bench and calls Julian.

Benja wants to see Angel angry and upset over him seeing Tatiana.

Camila sees a paper with the front news that Rodrigo is free and is happy.

Tatiana is entertaining one of her customers who seems to have more than a business relationship with her.

Benja barges into Angel office while he's on the phone warning him to stay away from his wife. Angel replies back why should he? He's the one who messed up as Benja ask him if they have been together Angel tells him the truth.

Benja is enraged but Angel stops him in his tracks that Tatiana is not just seeing him but other men also. Benja doesn't believe this but Angel finally says the smartest thing ever to come out of his mouth. It was Benja who caused her the most pain and to act in this way now he has no one else to blame but himself.

Piedad is in the delivery room and she ask Julian to call Rodrigo as Julian leaves the room he throws a fit of barely controlled rage over her asking for him to call his nemesis.Julian does calm down when other nurses come into the hallway and he makes a second call yeah it was for about a second or two whoever he called.

Rodrigo is with Valeria talking about their living arrangements over which place they should stay at he wants to keep his apartment. The doorbell rings and it's Camila.

Julian gets out his camera and goes back into the room to film the birth of the baby.Piead ask again if he called Rodrigo he tells her he called as Piedad struggles to deliver.

Benja goes to see Camila asking her what going on and if she is seeing a lot of men. Tatiana doesn't deny it and seems proud of her actions as Benja almost hits her and stops himself. He begs her to stop as Tariana ask him why he did it why can't she?

They argue some more as Tatiana threatens to call the police, Benja then tells her this is not her. He had a sex addiction he openly admits this now but he knows she is not like him and that when she had sex before it was out of love. Benja pleads with her to stop this behavior he knows he has hurt her and he's sorry. I don't like the dark hint of this revealing of Tatiana's behavior knowing full well if Julian ever hears about what might happen.

He wants another chance with her but as we see a little crack in Tatiana guarded heart she maintains her stance and tells him no.

Loca Lola is Pedro Pablo at the toy store she talks him into buying gifts for the baby as Pedro seems to get into the shopping mode. I will say in this episode she does look a little bigger stomach wise but still she should be looking as big as Piedad and Lola.

Alguien

Luisa learns from Amador about Benja going to see Angel because he's involved with Tatiana. As Luisa still wonders out loud about the case not really being wrapped up.Amador ask her why she can't let it go, it won't do her any good to keep dwelling on it.I'm cutting Rodrigo some slack here because it's his first day out but he still should go see Luisa with his thoughts.

Julian continues to film Piedad who gives birth to baby Sofia. Eva pops in taunting Julian by asking now that Piedad has a child if she ever abandons her will he kill her too? Julian moves away from his annoying ghost conscience without responding. Ha you gotta love Eva the sexy mocking and taunting ghost.

The doctor ask Piedad for the name of the baby and she tells her Sofia Quintana you can tell by looking at Julian he's not happy with that.

Camila ask Rodrigo how's everything as she tells him she's going to college now.Camila makes a pointed dig about how Rodrigo feels for Piedad.

Lucia and Pedro are at the checkout as he gets a call from Lola asking him if he's with Lucia?

Benja comes to get Rodrigo as he sees Camila he ask how she is doing? He tells Rodrigo that his baby was just born as Rodrigo gets his stuff to leave.

Benja ask Camila if she can forgive him for messing up her life?

Alguien

Piedad feeds her baby as Rodrigo and Benja show up.

Camila talks about Rodrigo with Valeria asking why she didn't go to the hospital with them? Valeria says she didn't want to interfere or worry about the reaction if she showed up with him. Camila ask if she is jealous of Piedad but Valeria seems to be realistic about Rodrigo's relationship with Piedad no is she worried about it since they decided to be together.

Rodrigo comes in to hold his baby as he ask Piedad once again not to marry Julian.Piedad of course says no.

Valeria and Camila continue to talk as she ask Camila what about her since she is a friend of Rodrigo's what's going with her? Camila admits to her that she was involved with a married man and that man was Benja her sister's husband. Valeria has a are you kidding me look on her face.

Rodrigo keeps insisting to Piedad not to marry Julian as she continues to stubbornly resist. Julian comes in and overhears Rodrigo telling Piedad you know it's going to be fireworks.

After this episode to me at least Piedad deserves Julian both are very selfish and egotistical in wanting things their way. The only difference between the two is one of them is a serial killer. The more i see Piedad she's not wrapped to tight either with her way of thinking.

ALGUIEN - MONDAY

It was sort of sad seeing Valeria all ready to play house, with Rodrigo's head in the clouds. But when she tried to leave, Rodrigo surprised me by asking her to live with him. Big mistake. He seems to want to lean on her, rather than to give her the love she needs.

Learned a new phrase: romper fuente, meaning when a woman's water breaks before giving birth.

Guess he was bound to hear it, but too bad it had to be Fiscal Jackass who told Benja about Tati's multiple lovers. I must say that young one: Enrique, I think. Yowzah!!

I loved it when Carvajal said that of all the ones hostigamos meaning pursued or harassed, Rodrigo deserved it the least.

The miserable jerk Julián lies to Piedad telling her he's called Rodrigo. For some reason, it bothers me more seeing Julián around Piedad than seeing him kill people. He's just so creepy around her. That videotaping was awful.

Camila and Valeria seem to hit it off well. Speaking of Camila, when she was coming out of the college in her miniskirt, wow, what fabulous legs she has.

Pretty ironic Benja getting on Tati for her many lovers. But he did certainly get to her when he told her that she would be hurting herself most.

PP just can't keep away from Lucy, can he? And buying about $400 dollars worth of boy-centric toys the kid won't be able to use until he's 6! Lola, if and when she finds this out, will absolutely have a stroke.

Rodrigo shouldn't have started in on Piedad just then when they were both with the baby. It doesn't do any good, and it spoiled the very sweet moment they had together as parents.

ALGUIEN-

Novelera- I was also a bit sad that Rod ruined their moment by pushing the Julian thing, but then I thought about it. It's not that Ros doesn't want Piedad to marry Julian because Julian is a jerk. It's because he's a cold blooded killer. Would you want your baby and the person you love living with an unhinged killer? Nope. You would do everything you can to prevent it- beg, plead, fight, cry, argue, stomp your feet, etc. I just want him to start thinking of some intelligent ways to catch Julian or trip him up. Obiviously just telling everyone he's the killer isn't working. He's been doing that for months now to no avail.

Yes, it looks like Tati's behavior will put her in Julian's sites. Don't do this to us writers. Tati needs to survive. Her young lover was hot. :) I hope she comes out of this promiscuous phase soon. I think Benja's talk did get through to her. I think it was rediculous that he was so upset when he thought she was just having sex with Angel. What makes him think that he should forever be the only man she's ever had sex with?

Hombre- Camila is back to her sexy self. :)

ALGUIEN
Novelera, wow everything you wrote was fantastic. I thought we were going to get another filler episode, was surprised by the conversation between Benji and Tatiana, found that impactful, but then disappointed when the promos showed Julian asking her about her kids. My heart sank. I like Valeria's character a great deal, she knew when to step aside. Camilla can learn a lot from her.

ALGUIEN

Last night's episode demonstrates why serial killers manage to get away with their crimes: they are smarter than the average Joe (or Rodrigo in this case). Although Rodrigo knows that Julian is the killer, his only method of proving this is to grab everyone he can and scream it at them. This just makes him look crazy and doesn't implicate Julian in any way. A nice rational presentation of his evidence to the authorities or a clever plot to get Julian unglued, would seem to work much better.

HEREDEROS

Although Paula and her mom have managed to convince everyone that they are devious scum bags, Juan seems to have remained a hero for these people and it kind of bothers me. He is even more guilty than Paula since he had a fiance and now a pregnant wife and still can't keep his hands off of his sister. He never showed any remorse for his behavior that was caught on tape, and even blamed Julieta for marrying him after she found out. He seems to be getting more disgusting all the time and PS he has the same hairdo as his horse but his horse wears it better.

AURORA

I'm so frustrated! OK, I have been watching Aurora all along and I saw the episode Friday night. Then last night, Monday, it was a whole new novela!!!!!!! It looks like the writers have realized that they made some horrible mistakes and have decided to take the plot in a whole new direction. Granted that a year has passed by, but the entire plot and even some of the characters are new. On Friday we saw Cesar present himself to Blanca, alive, and then Monday we went right back to the old Blanca. There was nothing to connect the two stories and it is the worst manipulation of a plot that I have ever seen in a novela, bar none. Can anyone explain what happened here?

GENERAL

Mathilda1, welcome! I don't remember seeing your comments before. I'm not watching Aurora, but it's usually a bad sign when they announce Nueva Etapa. They did this with Victorinos, made the last part of it completely unrecognizeable.

ALGUIEN -

Novelera, you pretty much said everything I was thinking, including learning the phrase romper fuente for her water broke. And I did notice Camila's looking sexier now (as you and Vivi pointed out!)

I also agree that Julian's taping seemed a little cold and unfeeling. Why wasn't he holding Piedad's hand, while she was in pain? He was just grinning away, zooming in on you know what.

I'm no expert on labor, but both times my kids were born, labor pains came at intervals, in other words, 90 seconds of pain, then 20 minutes of no pain (or at least much less). Gradually this changed to 90 seconds of pain, 10 minutes of rest. Even right before the babies were born, it was 90 seconds of pain, 2 minutes of rest. But the way they showed Piedad, once her water broke, it was just total contractions, no rest. Is this realistic?

I noticed Valeria had her little gloves on, but in a different color. I sort of like them.

HEREDEROS -

Rosa wasn't too smart in confiding in Sofia that she was Don Emilio's amante (as were Inez and Sofia). Given how long Sofia kept the secret about Simon being Jose's baby (about ten minutes, I think), how long will she keep this secret? In fact, secrets really don't seem to last very long in this show, such as Consuelo is seeing Johnny, Juan's sleeping with Paula, Miguel with Sofia (although only some people know this). And we have tons more secrets to come out, such as who are all the parents of the 5 Del Monte boys (we now know about Lucas's mother, although we haven't met her yet).

ALGUIEN

Thanks Blusamurai for your more detailed recap it's appreciated by us non Spanish speakers.

AURORA -- Lunes (or is it loony?)

Matilda1: Cesar's appearance on Friday was in Blanca's dream. I had been wondering whether we'd see him in a cryonics capsule and rejected the idea as a cop-out.

The actor is so attractive I wondered whether they wrote him out to star him in a new novela. However, they need to explain his miraculous recovery tonight. Obviously Martin had something to do with it.

GENERAL

I've said this in previous weeks: Telemundo doesn't yet know what to do with science fiction. I wish they were still producing Decisiones where they could experiment with this form before committing themselves to a six-month novela. Another option would be to do a 5-episode miniseries for the 10PM slot to air in between longer series.

However, as I speculated on one of the Univision threads, it must be cheaper to produce fewer series that are longer than to produce shorter ones and more of them. What both Telemundo and Televisa need is a set design genius to work out ways of changing sets efficiently so they can produce shorter series on backlots and inside studio buildings.

HEREDEROS

The following poem describes Paula and Juan's relationship perfectly:

http://www.bartleby.com/126/55.html

I don't care how many times she says it, there's no way Paula loves Juan. She's poison and she's infected Pedro to judge by his behavior last night.

I can't wait for the inevitable catfight between Sofia and Rosa, although Miguel isn't worth it.

HEREDEROS

Yes, I agree that Rosa's blind faith in Sofía is going to bite her in the hinddquarters sooner or later. It was pretty funny when both of them thought they were the love of Don Emilio's life! I don't think that Tomcat loved anyone very much.

Paula is just freaking outrageous. At least Juan didn't come down in response to her intrusive texts. But the next day he's staring at her in the scummy pond all over again. And she just keeps forcing herself on him over and over. How many times are they going to do this? It's starting to bore me.

I guess I understand Lucas a little better after last night. It seems it was more about the fact that his mother gave him up than that she was of a lower class than he perceives himself to be.

Pedro is a first-class ass. And, as a veteran TN watcher I'm pretty sure he's going to continue to try his luck with Julieta over and over. The obsessed males always do this. Hopefully they'll kill him off soon!

AURORA

matilda1: I don't know where the heck the writers are going with the story! it's really is ridiculous.

UA: I thought Cesar was written off too. thank heavens that's not the case. He's my favorite in this tn, and the only reason I'm still with it.

HEREDEROS -

Thanks for the link to the Keats poem, Urban. Paula certainly seems to have that effect on Juan. And I agree that at least right now, she doesn't really love him. She is a most unusual novela heroine.

I'm sure that Rosa telling Sofia about her relationship with Emilio will turn out to be a big mistake. Sofia will blab to Miguel at a minimum an probably to everyone else.

Did anyone think that Lucas' conversation with his brothers about his birth mother was a little weird? None of the brothers seemed to acknowledge that Lucas's situation might someday apply to them. No one said, 'if my birth mother showed up, I'd meet her.'

It was not too swift of Juan to miss the Julieta's doctor appointment because he was ogling Paula swimming in the pond (I guess it's supposed to be a river.)

I guess Consuelo is going to try and get Johnny to marry her. Then she, Johnny and Amador are going to live in the one room dwelling they have?

HEREDEROS

I noticed something last night. I remember when El Cuerpo del Deseo was on there was a German Shepherd dog that recognized Mario Cimarro as his owner, even though he was in a different, younger body (if you didn't see this, don't even ask!). I read somewhere that the dog was Cimarro's own dog. Well, last night they showed Juan on a sofa with a German Shepherd, and I spotted some white in the muzzle. Wonder if it's the same dog?

HEREDEROS

Paula is no heroine. Her name may be first in the credits but so was Leticia Calderon's in ENDA. She's more like Rubi and we know how she ended up.

I don't know that I want to see Pedro dead. He does need a shrink, however. So does Jose.

Psychologically I think Gaspar is the healthiest one in this family.

AURORA

The addition of Angelica Maria to the cast is a clear ploy to save this series. I haven't checked the ratings, but Telemundo hasn't yet moved anything first-run to daytime to the best of my recollection. Possibly because there is nothing to replace it yet.

I am shocked that Gustavo is still stuck with Elizabeth. It's starting to look like she will continue to get away with murder.

I am wondering what is happening with Joaquin that Gustavo fears will happen to Aurora.

Martin's current mental state makes me very uneasy.

HEREDEROS

don't know if it is the same dog, but he sure is adorable.

General

Actually there was a novela produced by Telemundo during primetime that was moved from 9:00 at night to the afternoon.

It was called Amores de Mercado (2006-2007)starring their two hottest stars at the time Paola Rey and Michel Brown and Mauricio Islas with Vanessa Villela as the two main villains. I remember at some point they changed the named to just Amores.

I looked it up and they said the head writer was replaced and you could tell that the story did changed for the characters.

Regardless of the head writer change it wasn't making the ratings and was pulled from the primetime lineup at that time and put on in the afternoon.

ALGUIEN

Rodrigo is the only one who "thinks" Julian is the killer, but what does he really know, that everyone else doesn't know? I guess he needs to sit, breath a little, think and probably investigate, although at this point, I wouldn't even know which "clue" to follow anymore. The police had access to all of them already and they didn't use them. Hmmmm maybe the photo of Julian's mother? But what does that really prove?

Of course, screaming Julian is the killer to anyone that listens doesn't help either, but if you were Rodrigo what would you do? I hope he starts doing something rational and not do what the others before him did (Eva, Mauricio ,Marilde and Daniela) because look where they ended up!

Blu, I love your summaries. Awwww I think Sofia Quintana is super cute! and I loved that she had her eyes wide open most of the time! I think she also knows Julian is the killer and I hope she cries every time he tries to hold her. She seemed to get along pretty well with her dad ;) Smart girl!

Novelera, I agree that Rodrigo is using Valeria as a crutch. I feel bad for both of them, because they are both brave but also fragile. Hopefully their relationship will help them and make them stronger, even if it is not romantic love, instead of hurting them more. At least Valeria is conscious if how things are, and Rodrigo has not been dishonest with her.

I like Tatiana, with all her flaws. I really don't want her to be the next Julian's victim.

HEREDEROS- There was speculation that Azur, the dog in El Cuerpo del Deseo was played by Mario's dog, Mambo. I doubt it because the dog who played Azur was required to do things that probably involved more training than a pet dog would have. Since the dog in Herederos has done nothing more than lie on the bed with Mario, it could well be his dog, Mambo.

After Rodrigo says to Pea-Brain he doesn't want her to marry Julian in walks the serial killer demanding why is that. Benja and Piedad try to calm down the atmosphere but the two already charged up men. Rodrigo goes on to tell Piedad that Julian is dangerous and he doesn't want him anywhere near his daughter. This angers Julian who tells him he's crazy from the drugs he has used.

Valeria and Camila continue to talk about her past relationship with her brother in law. Valeria says it looks like she is still in love with him but Camila says she is getting over him and moving on with her life. Valeria ask if she is sure, as Camila says that he's suffering now because he can't get back with my sister.

The argument moves to Piedad's room where the two men continue their bickering. Rodrigo going so far as to threaten to kill Julian himself if he's anywhere near his daughter. As Julian taunts him about being a drug addict.

Piedad finally having enough as Benja struggles to keep them separate pretty tells Rodrigo she's had it with him. She doesn't want him in her life or their daughters.Rodrigo is stunned by this and this stops him in his tracks he leaves with Benja from the room as Julian gives him a mocking look.

Benja keeps telling Rodrigo it's his jealousy of them marrying that is making him act like this but Rodrigo tells Benja by grabbing his head and ask him do you believe me or not that Julian is the killer. Benja looks guilty as he can't agree with Rodrigo who gives up wasting his time with him.

Julian meanwhile is manipulating Piedad over Rodrigo's drug use that's why he's acting this way.Benja comes in and she ask what happen with Rodrigo and what did he say.

Benja tells Piedad he said he loves you very much you're the only woman for him he made a mistake with Valeria but it will never happen again. He'll just wait and worship you until you forgive him and just wait and will become a monk just for you Piedad because he loves you that much. Naaaaaaaaah he really didn't say that but you can tell by the look on Piedad's face that's what she was hoping to hear because she is disappointed that Benja tells her Rodrigo doesn't want her to marry Julian.

I had forgotten about Amores and I just realized I haven't seen Mauricio Islas in ages.

Piedad ask to be left alone she is tired.

Rodrigo visits Luisa asking her what is she going to do leaving a killer like Julian on the streets he challenges her if she is satisfied with the justice and does she have a clear conscience? Luisa surprising says yes because there hasn't been any murders in the past several months.

Benja and Julian talk in the hallway with Julian vowing to make sure Rodrigo never gets a chance to be near Piedad and his daughter. Benja looks at him disconcerted by the tone in his voice.

Pea-brain sits up in bed having her own pity party about her relationship with Rodrigo.

Rodrigo ask Luisa does it make any sense for Daniel Vidal to kill all of those people but to leave Julian alive? He does have a very good point there. He ask Luisa if they followed up with Matilde after her accident. What about the picture she had?

Luisa insist there evidence or proof to charge Julian and the case is closed as far as they're concerned Daniel Vidal was the killer. Rodrigo tells her he hopes she can live with herself if anymore murders happens he just wants to get the guy away from Piedad but most especially his daughter.

Valeria worries about what's taking Rodrigo so long, as she gets a phone call it's a frustrated Rodrigo telling her he just came from the cops and no one still doesn't believe him.He says he feels all alone but Valeria assures him he's not she ask where he is at but he hangs up on her saying he has to some other business to take care of.

Julian comes back into Piedad's room bearing flowers he manipulates and consoles her saying for her not to worry he'll be there for her and her daughter. He says you know Rodrigo is with that model anyway. These two are just made for each other.

Rodrigo shows up at Matilde's but her mother tells him she doesn't know him and is reluctant to let him see Matilde even though he is a doctor. She wants to call Julian to confirm that Matilde and him know him Rodrigo stops her.

Emilio comes out and welcomes Rodrigo relieving Matilde's mother of her being cautious.

Luisa thinks back on Rodrigo's words but she tries to shake off her better judgment knowing deep down what he said was true.

Camila visits Tatiana and tries to broker peace and a reconciliation between her sister and Benja. Camlia lets Tatiana know he's suffering for his actions isn't she ready to forgive him? Tatiana mocks her sister asking is this a way for her to get back with Benja but Camila tells her no.

Tatiana wonders about Camila and her schooling and her paying for her college fees. Camila tells her not to worry she is doing fine and has a job and will pay her back for the college fees.Camila ask if she ever can forgive them? As Tatiana says no she is fulfilling her last obligation to her but that's it.

Camila changes the subject because Tatiana is getting more sarcastic and nasty by the second. She lets her know that Rodrigo is free and she visited him and his new girlfriend Valeria. That's when Benja stopped by with the news that Piedad just had the baby.

Tatiana is surprised and asks after the baby but wat she really wants to know if the baby was born a drug addict because of Rodrigo. Tatiana she abrasive like a porcupine isn't she?

Julian watches Piedad sleep in her room.

Rodrigo ask Matilde if she remembers where the picture is,He ask if she saw Julian the night after she visited him at the clinic. As Emilio comes in the room being nosy.

Rodrigo talks about the picture in front of Emilio who tells him that he's describing his grandmother. Fabiola as Matilde closes her eyes and remembers Julian threats to her when she woke up.

Piedad wakes up from her sleep with Julian asking if she feels better and now that she has had the baby they don't need to wait. They should hurry and get married but Piedad doesn't seem to overjoyed with this idea.

Rodrigo ask if Emilio knows where the picture is now but he says no but his father got very angry when he found it.Matilde looks like she is getting antsy from hearing this.

Rodrigo sends Emilio out of the room so he can talk privately to Matilde. he assures her he doesn't want to get hurt her or her son and will not try to involve them. Rodrigo says to her he's going to do what he can to help get her better and give her hope.

Tatiana visits bringing a potted plant for Piedad who is asleep. She and Julian go out in the hallway.

He asked how she is doing and she tells him busy and then he asked if she is making time for her kids? Tatiana tells him she has her life to live too she's not just a mother.

Julian gives her a stare and Tatiana looks at him asking him why is he looking at her like that she is not a bad mother. Can we say famous last words here. Now she just put a bullseye on he back not knowing she is talk to a serial kiler.

Rodrigo is talking to Matilde's doctor about her recovery and learns that the doctor did recommend a surgery to help Matilde maybe recover some of her faculties if not all. But Julian decided against it saying he's was worried it was too much for her and she might not survive excuse.

Rodrigo looks like he knows the real reason why Julian is putting a stop to the extra surgery.

Pedro Pablo is having kids day at his office as all the kids are screaming and running around and driving him bonkers. Veronica and the other nurse come in to see what the commotion is about as Pedro ask them to take over watching the kids.

The other nurse recommends something sweet for the kids as Pedro shouts no more sugar for them please. This was funny.

Valeria calls Pedro Pablo telling him about Rodrigo.

Luisa and Amador discuss Rodrigo as he ask what does she think, it seems she is giving some serious thought to what Rodrigo said to her because she can't seem to shake what he said to her and deep down she knows he's right.

ALGUIEN - TUESDAY

That scene with Piedad, Rodrigo and Julián in her hospital room made my blood boil. Jerk Julián tells Piedad that maybe he'll love Sofía more than Rodrigo and win her heart. Piedad just blames the whole mess on Rodrigo.

Looks like Carvajal got a promotion for "solving" the case. I don't remember seeing that before. Julian definitely got to her with his big questions: Where's the photo, where's El Cazador's hideout, and why did Vidal kill women instead of Julián if he hated him so much? This was a very well acted scene by both actors.

Julián tells Benja he'll sue Rodrigo if he keeps it up.

Whew! For a minute there I thought Rodrigo was going to try to take the baby when he said he knew what the only thing was that he could do. But his brain is working. He goes to see Mathilde instead. He finds out the photo is Julián's mother from Emilio

And, best of all, he finds out from Mathilde's doctor that she stands a good chance of recovery, but Julián won't permit the operation. I think if that doctor AND Rodrigo said this to Mathilde's parents, this might have a good effect.

Tatiana is flirting with Julián! Yikes! And she demonstrates her impeccable taste in men by again putting down Rodrigo and saying what a wonderful man Julián is. And bird-brain Lola does the same.

Doesn't look like Piedad's too thrilled talking about the wedding.

I think Valeria just went to see if the baby was still there, but Piedad doesn't look happy to see her there.

HEREDEROS - TUESDAY

Wow, Jean, you remembered the name of the dog in El Cuerpo del Deseo! I am impressed! I had forgotten it was such a talented dog, just remembering how much it hated Walter.

I keep meaning to say that I very much like the song for this novela: "Me cuesta tan caro quererte".

I'm liking Julieta more and more. She's trying to comfort Pedro, even though he's cost her a lot. She also seems to me to be the stable influence in her family. Her parents are a mess, Consuelo is a brat, and Rosario seems to be fixated on astrology.

Beatriz fits the definition of insanity perfectly: Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. José did a nice thing buying the house, but she won't let it just be kind, clinging to the idea that it means more.

The only time Paula is bearable is when she's with Lucas. She doesn't seem like she's trying to manipulate him any more.

Alguien

Tatiana is telling Julian she's a good mother and not to judge her as Julian tries to reign in his murderous thoughts. He tries teasing her by saying he knows deep down she still is in love with Benja why is staying seperated from him?He ask her to get back with him because it's best for the both of them and their children.

Tatiana tells him that's not happening Benja was a big mistake who caused her a lot of pain. She flirts big time saying if she had to do it over again and choose a doctor it would be him. Julian is surprised by this admission as his eyebrows shoot up to his hairline.

Tatiana ask if he's surprised as Julian says yes he is because of Piedad but Tatiana tells him that she and Piedad aren't really friends. Her best friend is Matilde not Piedad and she knows what type of miracles he creates with his own two hands.

My dear that is a understatement you don't know what those two hands of his are capable of.

Valeria goes to see Pedro at the clinic he warns her about coming here now that Rodrigo is free. Valeria is not happy about this as Pedro tells her that Piedad works her and is a partner here that's why he said what he did to her. Valeria tells him about Rodrigo missing and how upset he is right now.

The kids are running amok in Pedro Pablo's office.

Benja is in serious thought as Lola tries to grill over Rodrigo being set free and him being jealous that Piedad is marrying Julian. She ask Benja what has him deep thoughts and so serious as he remembers Rodrigo telling him that Julian is the killer. They get a phone call from Veronica that Pedro Pablo has left the office and the kids are all alone. They leave in a hurry to pick them up.

The kids find all of the toys Pedro bought for his new son and have a good time.

Rodrigo comes home calling for Valeria he goes and gets two books from the shelf. Let's hope those are two medical books to help Matilde recover from her accident.

Valeria visits the maternity ward so goes to the window looking at the babies as Piedad pauses surprised and calls out her name.

Thanks Blusamurai you're the best i love more detailed recaps because i can't CC on my TV no matter what i try.

I enjoy your sense of humor also it's refreshing please continue for the sake of us non Spanish speakers thank you.

ALGUIEN

Haha love it Blusamurai thank you for your work on this i don't understand why others are complaining when it helps some of us understand better what is going on.

ALGUIEN

I'm still laughing from what you wrote Piedad was expecting Benja to say to her about Rodrigo. Piedad is pea brained indeed. Too funny great recap Blusamurai thank you so much.

ALGUIEN

Blusamurai you're the best and a lifesaver i was having difficulty keeping up but thanks for your recap i'll watch it again tomorrow with your excellent recap.

Let me join in saying i LMAO at your take on what Piedad wanted Benja to tell her after he left with Rodrigo. You just know that's what she wanted to hear, very funny.

Alguien

More long recaps please thank you Blu you're the best this is the only novela i follow and i would be lost without your recaps. I really appreciate you doing this when you can.

Can i just add moronic pea brain to Piedad's nickname she is beyond stupid. At least Luisa is considering and giving it some serious thought over again.

Poor Rodrigo he's like the little boy who cried wolf isn't he?Everyone believes the real killer because he does manipulate everyone like a chess piece on a chess board.

Tatiana is very hard to take but i do agree with Blu her confiding to Julian about her new lifestyle doesn't bode well for her.

General

Urban i remember that novela doing that on Telemundo because i was watching it on and off then one day i couldn't find it at all.I kept wondering what had happened to it then one day i was home early from work and i saw it on in the afternoon.

As for Mauricio Islas i think i read he went over to Aztec TV and i don't get that channel on my cable package in my neck of the woods.

Thank you to those who have liked what i wrote.

GENERAL-

Lord, novelera, I didn't remember Azur's name. I can't remember what I did yesterday much less the characters in a novela that was on a couple of years ago! I looked it up on TW where I knew there had been a lot of discussion about Mario's dog. Thank God for the internet!

I think that quite a few prime time novelas on Telemundo have been banished to an afternoon time slot. I recall that El Juramento met that fate.

HEREDEROS - Another exciting episode - not. Consuelo got married. Pedro got drunk and Jose bought Beatriz's house, not for her but so his son has a place to live.

HEREDEROS -- Martes

Jose needs to better distance himself from Beatriz if he really doesn't want to remain involved with her. Pedro needs to get into rehab and Julieta needs to keep her distance from him so he doesn't continue to hope she will love him.

I can't wait until somebody kicks Sofia in her self-satisfied arse. Her smirks are starting to annoy me as much as Paula's.

AURORA

I'm predicting that Federico will be the first villain to bite the dust in this insane story. He's a pathetic creep and I hope Cesar whips his butt at the next opportunity.

Roque's English lessons were silly and it looks like they're setting him up to get together with Inez. We're really going far afield now.

Nina becoming a hooker is no surprise.

HEREDEROS -

The best part of this episode was Pedro playing the trumpet (don't know if the actor was really playing it), to the tune of the theme from the novela!

ALGUIEN - Tuesday

Although Luisa is vacillating about reopening the investigation, she admitted to Amador she does have doubts. Rodrigo is doing is own investigation, and has already discovered two things which he could tell Luisa. 1) Emilio said that he remembers a picture of his grandmother in the black dress, and that his father was furious when he wanted to use it for a school project, and 2) There IS an operation to restore Matilda's talking, moving, etc., it's NOT that risky (worst result is same as she is now), but for some reason, Julian is vetoing it. If Luisa knew these things, it might sway her to reopen the case.

Alguien

Julian presented the surgery as risky to Matilde's parents and he convinced them since he's a doctor of doing doing the surgery.Too bad her parents have never heard of a second or third doctor's opinion to compared info.

Aeryn you were right about Rodrigo's reaction to trying to expose Julian and he's now starting to think clearer.

He did hurt himself by first going to Luisa with his suspicions but with out having any factual proof. He does come off as a jealous loony which is exactly how Julian keeps telling everyone who will listen to him he is.

Great move visiting Matilde then her doctor also getting the info out of Emilio about that being his grandmother and what she was wearing.Emilio did serve his purpose of being nosy last night but the more i see of him the more you can see him turning into another Julian.

I'm hoping he'll focus back on to the picture of him and Benja and recall how Julian lets slip it was taken the day Eva was kidnapped. Only the killer would know that and then if he remembers that he can go to Benja and ask him what did he say to Julian about the picture taken of them together like that.

Am intending to get back to Telemundo by watching La Reina del Sur. Will it be discussed on this forum or, like El Clone, with it have its very own place? Whatever, I sure hope to see reviews by Novela Maven! Lois

ALGUIEN – General

Thanks guys. I’m glad you enjoyed the introductory summary. For my part, I’ve loved reading your insightful comments complete with gallows humor. Here’s what I’ve been thinking:

Malignant. That’s the word for Julián. In this medical ambience, Julián is like a fatal disease, a virulent organism that sooner or later claims the life of all its victims. A killing machine.

It reminds me of the early days of the AIDS epidemic when people were trying to make sense of ghastly symptom clusters, of young people dying of pneumocystis pneumonia and Kaposi’s sarcoma; when this terrible wasting disease affected some groups and not others. It was only after the virus underlying the illness was identified and targeted that treatment became possible. Still a disease to be reckoned with, yes, but not the automatic death sentence of 20 years ago.

Rodrigo knows that the cause of this deadly epidemic is Julián. So does Carvajal, even if it’s hard for her to admit it. The problem is that up to now they haven’t been able to prove it. They could probably have proven that Daniel Vidal was innocent. But we all know that null studies are almost impossible to publish. No one wants to know what is NOT true.

Now Rodrigo has more evidence. And if he had more clout, he might be able to go to say, the NEJM and publish his findings. But he doesn’t. It will likely take more deaths before the establishment reaches the same conclusion independently. (Assuming they ever do.)

Everyone hopes for a magic bullet that will cure AIDS or cancer or heart disease. Unfortunately, each of these diseases has shown itself resistent to simple solutions. But in the case of Pestis Garciensis, (García’s plague) a bullet would do the trick very nicely. Doesn’t even have to be magical. Muerto el perro, se acabó la rabia.

ALGUIEN

"Muerto el perro se acabo la rabia." LOL! NovelaMaven. So true!

ITA with Hombre. Rodrigo must share the info he got with Carvajal. Unfortunately, I don't think he trusts her or thinks she will care, but I hope I'm wrong.

My favorite scene was Matilde visiting Matilde. Not only because of the info he got from Emilio, but because of the scene and dialogue with Matilde. After unwillingly tormenting her by asking Emilio about the photo, I totally loved how he comforted her. It is such a relief to see the only two characters that know the truth about Julian try to communicate! Unfortunately he didn't figure out the whole blinking thing either but it wasn't really necessary. He already knows what he needs to know and the conversation served more the purpose of reassuring him, having someone who would understand and not look at him like he is crazy and at the same time she can take "some" comfort in knowing that someone out there knows the truth and that there is some hope to take down Julian

We can't discuss previews here right? Cause I want to make a prediction about today's

Ok, I won't sat what it is, but for all of those who have seen it, I predict what we saw, won't happen for real :) I hope that wasn't spoilerish at all

ALGUIEN

I meant to say Rodrigo visiting Matilde :p and also I want to take the opportunity to thank Blu for the summaries again :) I understand spanish perfectly well but for some reason I just love reading well written recaps. I was ROTFL at the dialogue you imagined between Julian and Pea Brain :)

ALGUIEN

Yes, Novela Maven, loved muerto el perro se acabó la rabia.

One thing about last night's episode that bothered me was Mathilde flashing back to Julián reminding her that if he ended up in the slammer and she was still paralyzed, Emilio would be without parents. At the time that happened, it seemed to really have an impact on her. Of course, he has very loving grandparents, but still. I hope she doesn't think she has to protect the swine for that reason.

ALGUIEN

Novelera, I thought the same thing when Matilde had the flashback but at the same time I thought, are we supposed to take this literally or is Julian actually threatening Matilde telling her that he is capable of hurting his own child? To me, Julian's demeanor (not his words) suggested that he was threatening with that. Btw, this is a good example of a scene where I have appreciated Amaya's performance (see? I'm not that bad). Every time an actor can communicate mixed signals (that make sense) or say something with the mouth and something different with the tone of voice or body language, I see it as a good asset in that actor. Not all actors are capable of that. I believe Amaya is a very capable actor. He has just made some choices with his performance that I don't always agree with or that I don't always understand (which could be very well my fault). But you can tell he does put thought into it. At least I can say he seems to take his work seriously.

Piedad ask Valeria what is she doing there Valeria pauses at first but says she's there to see her daughter. Why ask Piedad because Valeria ask her to calm down she just told her she is here to see her daughter not her.

Besides Rodrigo is her father this gets Piedad enraged as she goes off on her saying she want allow her near her daughter. Valeria is rationale and replies but her father is Rodrigo whats the problem i want to see the daughter of the man i love? Haha in your face and now that the shoe is on the other foot Piedad isn't quite taking it well about their relationship now is she?

Lola and Benja come into the office see the kids hyped up on their sugar kick tearing the toys apart. Benja asks where did all these toys come from? Lola figures he bought them for his lover Lucia and their child and boy is she upset.

Luisa gets some folders from Amador who warns her about trying to reopen the case. She thanks him and tells him goodnight she has work to do.

As Benja and Lola see the office and she is upset Pedro comes in with Lola attacking him asking how could he buy all of this for Lucia's child.Pedro tries to defend himself as Lola tries to attack but is held back by Benja. She gives him a ultimatum to make a choice or he's out of their life for good. All kids chime in with their two cents agreeing with Lola.

Rodrigo reads one of the books he got as Valeria comes back she ask if he's ok. Rodrigo tells her what he's discovered so far about Matilde's surgery for her to recapture her voice and movement.Plus what Emilio told him about the picture of the woman in the black dress was Julian's mother.

Valeria tells Rodrigo she is there for him and has no doubts and supports him and everything and is willing to help him with whatever.

Rodrigo visits Tatiana who ask what does he want he says just to ask her a very important question please. Tatiana at first tries to blow him off but sits and listens as he pleads if she really loves Matilde like she says she'll listen to him.

Perfecto warns Luisa to cut it out the case has been closed and over for eight months and she keeps this up she will be suspended.

Rodrigo ask Tatiana about that night of Matilde's accident what did she say to her he says it's important. Tatiana remembers that Matilde only said a name what name ask Rodrigo? Julian as this confirms Rodrigo's suspicions he then ask did she say anything else?

Tatiana remembers she said no Julian no and how did she sound afraid Tatiana tells him.Tatiana wants to know why he is asking these questions from her but Rodrigo tells her not now but later he will tell her.

Benja and Pedro sit and talk and drink as Benja raises Rodrigo's concerns about Julian being the killer. Pedro convinces Benja there's no way that's true.

Rodrigo goes to see Luisa with his new info but she tells him to meet her at the cafe across the street.

Julian goes to visits Matilde and his son and learns from his former mother in law that Rodrigo visited here. Julian goes into his warning druggie spiel about Rodrigo and how he lies and manipulates people and he doesn't want him near Matilde anymore.

Emilio hears this coming out of the back and ask his dad why aren't they friends? Julian is getting a little upset that Emilio isn't listening to him and tells him not to question him he doesn't want Rodrigo to be let in here anymore from now on.Julian is a bit frighten but very upset that Rodrigo did come there.

Rodrigo tells Luisa about what Emilio said about seeing the picture and the woman in the black dress is Julian's mother. He then tells her about how he's preventing Matilde from having a surgery that maybe can reverse her accident. We all want this to happen and sooner than we hope.He then tells her the final piece and ask her to go ask Tatiana about what Matilde or should he say who's name did she call out in fear that night it was Julian's.

Rodrigo pleads with Luisa look at what he has discovered in this time please if she has any mind of what happened to her friend can she help him?

It a heart pendant as one has a single heart and the other has two entwined.

Julian brings Emilio down into his killing lair pumping him for info on what he said to Rodrigo he tells him about betraying him as Emilio stands transfixed by the jars on the shelves.

Julian puts on his killing record and grabs a knife as Emilio had his back to him. Julian goes to plunge the knife as Emilio looks up at him scared.

Matilde wakes up from her nightmare they just had to go there teasing us that way right. But her nightmare continues as she remembers Julian threat if she ever recovers or talks.

Valeria is dress as some out of space go-go girl or what ever the heck she is wearing. Rodrigo comes to the modelling party to see but doesn't like the crowd and starts to leave but Valeria calls out to him.

Tatiana ask Piedad if she is really in love with Julian or is she just leaning on him because he's loves her and has always been there for her. Piedad feels uncomfortable by this questioning as Tatiana makes a couple of sly catty remarks to her. She does seem to have a look of envy on her face.

Rodrigo gives Valeria a set of keys to his apartment but not one of the necklaces with a heart on them. I see major heartbreak for Valeria.

It's too bad Rodrigo is leaning on her for her support and can't fully accept the love she is trying to give him.

Julian looks up at her not all there and then he sees his mother standing there in her black dress. But she has a knife in her hand the same kind he used to kill his victims.

Julian gets up yelling and he backs away to the corner telling her to go away get out. The patient at this time is yelling for help because she is frighten now by how he's acting.

Julian's mother tells him now it's his time to pay for all of the murders he has done.

Wow is Julian really losing his mind and here i was beginning to think he was going to kill again. The question was this all just in his head or did he really sees her like that in his office.

Now we're in Capitulos Finales.

HEREDEROS

Paula was truly awful last night, taunting Julieta. That smug face is unbearable.

Consuelo is not doing too well as ama de casa, is she? The actress is displaying some subtle changes. She's happy with Johnny, thus a little less bratty.

I wonder if Lucas really feels something for Rosario, or if he's still hung up on Paula.

These people just keep doing the same dumb things over and over. After he tells Paula off about her behavior with Julieta, he displays obvious jealousy about José paying Paula some attention. Wonder what that's all about?

And Julieta shows off her lack of good sense by going into Pedro's room, setting him off again.

ALGUIEN- WEDNESDAY

Lots of annoying behavior in this one. Piedad was awfully cold and nasty to Valeria. She didn't try to touch the baby, just look through the glass.

The prefect goes ballistic on Carvajal for looking at closed files. I wonder if that "rule" he cited has any basis in reality.

Lola behaves like a crazy woman in front of her children and Benjas. I get that it drives her nuts thinking someone else is having a boy, but she seems unhinged.

Pedro Pablo and Benja manage to talk each other out of believing Rodrigo.

After some of her trademark nastiness, Tati tells Rod exactly what Mathilde said, and I think it sounded sinister to her as well.

Carvajal is 90% on Rodrigo's side. We get an appearance by Fiscal Jackass, who can't get over his stinging defeat in court and goes after Rodrigo.

Of course Emilio had to tell his papi all about Rod's visit and the interest in the photo.

Big fake-out with Mathilde's dream or hallucination of Emilio and Julián in the Murder Cellar.

I learned a new expression uno mismo meaning onesself. I had heard myself, yourself hisself, etc., but never that usage.

Tatiana nailed it: "I've never seen a more unenthusiastic bride."

I hope the staff at the clinic recognize that Julián behaved outrageously with that patient in the room. First he seemed to be looking for the best place to put the knife in, and then he started yelling at the phantom of his mother.

ALGUIEN -- miércoles

You’re right, Novelera – there was lots of annoying behavior last night. Still, a couple of scenes stood out for me. Not the big attention grabbers, but the well-crafted character pieces:

--Tatiana’s visit to Piedad: Piedad seems genuinely pleased at Tati’s gesture of friendship. (She knows Tati came to see her at the hospital too and left her flowers.) But Tati is all business. She’s there to plan a wedding y ya! And she gets huffy when Piedad is reluctant to commit to the circus that Julián seems to have commissioned. The tell: when Piedad mentions Sofía and a Who the hell is Sofía? look crosses Tati’s face. She recovers quickly, but not quite quickly enough.

--Valeria and Piedad in the hospital: As someone mentioned earlier, Valeria may very well be checking on the baby’s whereabouts, making sure that Rodrigo hasn’t committed the locura of ‘rescuing’ her before Julián can do her any harm. But the reason she gives Piedad, that she’s there to see the child of the man she loves, makes sense. When Piedad reacts so aggressively to her presence, she is showing how jealous she is and how much she resents the idea that Rodrigo may be getting over her.

As for Julián’s melt-down in the clinic –
Like you, I hope that patient is articulate enough to make someone understand how inappropriate (to put it mildly) Julián’s behavior was. But somehow I doubt it. We all know that Julián could sell seats to Sunday’s SuperBowl the Monday after the game. And the patient – like almost all the patients really – looked like a not very credible twinkie. Ah well. últimos capítulos.

GENERAL

Lois! Wow, it's nice to see you back here again. I've been thinking about you!

I'm not sure what lies ahead for this blog, but I doubt that there'll be daily recaps of La Reina del Sur, not unless blog mom Melinama is secretly vetting volunteer recappers for the job (not very likely!) Lo siento.

HEREDEROS - Wednesday

I do think Lucas/Rosario can work. I was happy for them.

Juan is far from perfect. Besides being unable to resist Paula, he's now jealous when Jose starts being nice to Paula. Of course, I don't like Jose one bit, but that's another matter.

Lupe sure is a little dreamer, thinking it would be nice to get her parents, Inez and Eleuterio back together again, and all live in the same house (with Gaspar, too, I guess).

From the music, Efrain is supposed to be a good guy, but I don't like the fact that he was going to punish Beatriz by selling the house. I was okay with Jose tricking him, buying it secretly for Simon (but I didn't like Jose's meanness to Beatriz about that).

Of course, the big question for this show is who's going to win Juan in the end, Julieta or Paula? I'm not convinced that Paula will win, just because she's "the lead". Lots of things could happen to change the final result.

ALGUIEN - Wednesday

I was glad that Rodrigo didn't tell Tatiana his suspicions that Matilde's cry for help in that telephone call, meant maybe Julian was pursuing her. Why am I glad? Because Tatiana would just blab that to Julian, giving him more heads up on the situation. The down side is that Tatiana isn't really aware of Julian's danger, and could pay for that lack of awareness.

I sort of thought Matilde's parents gave a look that showed they think Julian is a little weird. Not that it'll make any difference, though.

I was happy that Julian started to lose it in front of that patient. Of course, she yelled help ten times, and still no one had come. By the time they do, he'll be back to normal. I remember Daniela yelling for help over and over in her apartment. No one came.

Rodrigo called Valeria an angel. Since it doesn't look as if she'll ever win his full love, and since she said she'd do ANYTHING for her, this looks like a setup for her somehow sacrificing herself to save him, which would be tragic.

ALGUIEN

Hombre- I agree that it looks like Valeria will be the sacrificial lamb on the altar of Rod and Piedad's love.

I also thought the reason Val went to the hospital was to make sure Rod hadn't committed the locura of baby-napping. It was the first thing we thought, and obviously it's the logical thing she thought of. But luckily, Rod has started to use his head. But her reason for being there was perfectly sound. Piedad can't have it both ways. Julian can have complete rights to Piedad's and Rod's baby, while at the same time Valeria has no right to see the baby or spend any time with her. I gave her the same "say what?" look Val gave her after that crap came out of her mouth.

HEREDEROS - WEDNESDAY

Hombre, that would be a nice twist if Paula didn't end up with Juan. So far it's been interesting the way Julieta is portrayed. Usually, in novelas, the "other woman" besides the main lead female is a nasty schemer who gets the guy to marry her, often with a fake pregnancy. Julieta is exactly the opposite. She's sensible, knows for sure there's something fishy going on with Paula and Juan, and is kind to her parents and siblings.

I also thought Efraín crossed a line when he tried to sell the house out from under Beatriz and Simón. And I also liked José thwarting him by buying the house.

I almost have a tiny thought that José and Beatriz could end up together. He'd have to have a big character change, but still. I know he's been pretty unlikeable for the most part, but he's the one guy out of the brothers that gives my heart a pitty pat. He's really gorgeous.

HEREDEROS

That Paula - ugh!!!

Looove Rosario/Lucas. though I'm sure it'll be a bumpy road ahead.

And yes, Julieta should stay far away from Pedro.

HEREDEROS

novelera: ITA w/ you... José is gorgeous.

HEREDEROS - The rich girl marries/shacks up with poor guy and can't cook, iron or keep house is a novela classic. It can resolve in various ways but there are definitely bumps ahead for the relationship.

Jose was pretty sleazy putting the moves on Paula. Beatriz is such a wet blanket, it would serve her right to end up with Jose but he would have to have a major character change.

OK, let's rank the Hermanos del Monte by gorgeousness. My ranking would be:

Juan
Lucas
Gaspar
Jose
Pedro

ALGUIEN

I agree with Vivi and with Hombre. Personally I've been mourning Valeria ever since she confessed she had an abortion. I just keep wishing Rodrigo makes her really happy before that happens. OTOH poor Rodrigo! The more he falls for her, the worse for him. Piedad was horrible, and that was la gota que derramo el vaso for me! No way, could I ever see this woman as capable of being happy or making anyone happy. She is as self centered and self righteous and selfish and mean as Tatiana. But at least Tatiana does not pretend to be a saint. Her pain is the only pain that matters (Hey, isn't that also very much like Julian too?). She is jealous and that is all that matters. Oh, but she expects Rodrigo to not only accept the serial killer as a substitute father for his daughter but to feel grateful to him. THE NERVE OF THIS WOMAN REALLY!

HEREDEROS men:

LOL, Jean. Mine would be

Juan
Lucas
Jose
Gaspar
Pedro

Gaspar and Jose are interchangeable on certain episodes.

HEREDEROS

Ok, I'll play!

José
Gaspar
Lucas
Juan
Pedro

If Pedro weren't so unattractive with that almost beard, I'd even put him ahead of Juan! Cimarro doesn't do a thing for me in this role.

Alguien

Aeryn i agree i was like is she for real with what the heck she is saying to Valeria. Can she not recognize how much of a hypocrite she is? No even if Rodrigo ends up with her and the end of there's no way he can ever make this woman happy. Her behavior is just not sound at all if anything she should go into therapy for herself. The way she kept telling everyone that Rodrigo was crazy and needed therapy because he was so jealous of Julian.

What about her herself she had the same reaction to Blanca Gordon the woman drug dealer. Then she did it again with Daniela and now it's Valeria and the way she keeps running over to see Rodrigo doesn't help the situation either.

ALGUIEN

Yes Blu, that is a good point too. She projects a lot! because she is the one who is sick of jealousy. Rodrigo is no angel in that regard but he has taken her crapola with much more grace! and if he is now worried is mostly because her dear "boyfriend" is a KILLER :D Anyway, Piedad is a lost cause. I really really don't want her to end up with Rodrigo. Even if Valeria and Rodrigo don't eve happen, please let him be alone with his child!

I wanted to comment about Julian too. I still go with my theory that is addicted to killing. And that he is now losing control because he is going through withdrawal. Hah! Isn't that deliciously ironic?

I think this novela is divided in two teams. The flawed and the righteous. The flawed are the good guys, Rodrigo, Valeria, now even Camila maybe? Benjamin (who has lately recognized his problem with sex addiction) They are more equipped for survival and prone to evolve and learn precisely because they know their flaws now. At different points in the novela they all became aware of them and confronted them.

The righteous, Tatiana, Piedad, Julian, will never change and will never evolve.

HEREDEROS -- Jueves

My ranking on the brothers' hunk-factor:

Juan
Gaspar
Jose
Lucas
Pedro

Now to business: I believe Paula is coming on to Jose to make Juan jealous and Jose may be trying to prove that Paula is just looking to set the guys against each other.

Which is well under way.

I'm glad Juan didn't cave to Rosa's interference in Consuelo and Johnny's marriage. What nerve.

alguien

Good point Aeryn i think we should put Matilde in with the flawed characters she kept believing in Julian and wouldn't listen to Mauricio now she's paying the ultimate price.

I also agree about Rodrigo and Piedad she does not deserve him and i hope if he does survive he just has access to his daughter and move on.

Valeria even if she doesn't end up with Rodrigo at the end i don't want her to be sacrificed. Imagine what her death would do to Rodrigo he already went through that with Daniela's death.

As for Julian just when we thought he got those urges of his under control he loses it. If i was that patient i wouldn't have just yelled for help i would picked a chair and told his craziness to stay from me and got the heck out of there real fast.

I just want Rodrigo to remember the picture and his conversation with Julian at that time. That's a big clue also of him revealing to him that Eva was kidnapped when that was taken.

Let's hope that Luisa doesn't get caught by Perfecto looking into the case again. But if they find any discrepancies of Daniel Vidal being somewhere else when the majority of the killings did happen. You know she's going to go after Julian she wants to get him for Eva's sake at least.

I can't wait to see what else his mother says to Julian tonight.

Alguien

Julian continues his meltdown frightening his patient as Benja and Veronica come in to see what's going on.Benja gets a weird look on his face looking at Julian's reaction as he takes him out of the room.

Veronica makes excuses that his ex wife was just in a accident and his fiance just had a sick baby and he's tired.

Benja ask Julian what's really going on as Julian tells him nothing he just needs to rest by himself but Benja tries to talk to him some more but Julian insists he just needs time by himself.

Rodrigo goes back to Matilde's place with her doctor at first her parents tell him that don't want him here because of what Julian told them. Rodrigo convinces them to listen to the doctor it's for Matilde he says.

Veronica checks on Julian asking if he's alright as Julian lays on the recliner recalling his mother's abuse of him as a child.

Fabiola ask young Julian what does he want she tells him she wants him she'll always want him because she his mother and she loves him. Julian looks down in shame as his mother ask him to look at her.

Benaj walks out a patient and sees Camila at the receptionist desk talking to one of the secretaries selling a cell phone. He ask her out to eat or coffee they agree.

With opposition from both of Matilde's parents Rodrigo and the doctor convince them both that if the surgery doesn't work Matilde will stay the same. They argue how Julian told them it's dangerous for her.

They assure them both that Matilde may recover her ability to talk and walk again if she has this operation.Matilde's parents seem to believe them now and are happy.

Alguien

As they continue to discuss the operation with Matilde parents Lola and Piedad with her baby show up. She ask what Rodrigo is doing here?

Julian is being thanked profusely by a grandmother as he rushes her out of his office. He sits down and sees his mother again and ask what is she looking at?

Piedad and Rodrigo get into over the new operation for Piedad as Matilde listen to them argue about her in the other room.Piedad defends Julian advice as Rodrigo ask her why it's not just me who's saying that she can recover but her own doctor is saying this too. Piedad stubbornnly refuses to bend on this issue.

Until Rodrigo ask her why won't you consider there's a chance she can recover do want to take responsibility of making her stay like that for the rest of her life? You're a doctor too and you should know better. At this point i can't believe she has a doctor's license acting like this.

Benja comes back with Camila and tells her they can see one another but not here at the clinic where people will talk.Julian walks out and greets Camila as Benja ask where's he going to Matilde's he says.

Rodrigo ask Piedad it won't hurt Matilde this is a chance she may have to live her life like before for herself and her son. He seemed to finally convince brain dead.

Alguien

Rodrigo ask Piedad if he can hold Sofia and then gives her his present for Sofia and another one for her. Piedad is touched by the gesture as they make goo-goo eyes with each other.

Valeria calls Camila and ask her to come over as she leaves Benja.

Tatiana goes to pick up the kids as Pedro Pablo tries to lecture her about neglecting the kids for her social life. Tatiana tells him to save the sermons and she do whatever the heck she wants. She will not listen to those who try to criticize her for having a life please go and get my kids now she ask him.

Rodrigo holding baby Sofia and Piedad sitting across from hm on Matilde's other side with Lola talk about the baby and her getting better. Piedad cautions him about saying things like that in front of her but Lola agrees with him.As Rodrigo brings Matilde's hand to touch baby Sofia and then he feels it move he tells everyone.

Piedad doesn't believe him saying it's not possible as Lola gets excited. The other doctor and Matilde's parents come into the room. Rodrigo tells them what just happened the doctor ask Matilde to move her hand again but she doesn't.

Rodrigo insist he felt it as they all see Matilde moving her fingers a little on her hand. They all get excited even Piedad sees for herself the little movement.

ALGUIEN- Thursday

I have to get this off my chest and then head to bed. My least favorite people in tonight's show were... Matilde's parents. They have just heard the opinion of their daughter's doctor, who has given their daughter hope of not being trapped in her body. They have heard the opinion of another doctor, Rod, who is a GP. And yet they still want the approval of their daughter's ex, let me repeat, her EX husband, who is a plastic surgeon, before they can give their approval for surgery! WTF!!!!!! Now these people are truly the ones who are brain dead. Arrrgggg!

I find myself looking at other women, any other woman, as a possible love interest for Rod by the end of this show-- Matilde, Luisa... But not Piedad. I know it will happen anyway. He was looking particularly hunky this episode. Must be that confident bounce in his step.

Alguien

Before Julian left his office when mommy dearest popped up again she ask him what does he see? He called her something as Fabiola says i'm your mother the only mother you will ever have whether you like it or not.

Fabiola calls him a monster thirsting after blood and very soon it will be his time. Julian tells her to shut up as Fabiola taunts him with his main weakness the woman of your dreams. She's in love with another man and she will never love you the way you want her too. She even has a child with the man that she really loves do you think she will ever love you like that?Julian goes off on Fabiola telling her to shut up as he faces off with her but we see a empty room with only Julian inside.

Rodrigo gets a call from Luisa asking him to meet at their cafe.

Camila goes over to Valeria who tells her she's moving in with Rodrigo and it looks like she'll let Camila stay at her place.

Julian is driving Emilio home when Emilio said something about Matilde moving that made Julian slam on the breaks real hard.

Alguien

Haha Vivi i was thinking the same thing what are they thinking this is the doctor who operated on Matilde who is more qualified than him to give an objective and fair analysis better than him?

Great minds think a like i saw the little chemistry between Luisa and Rodrigo and i was definitely thinking the same thing as you if not Valeria why not Luisa.I would love to see Piedad try and pull her jealous act on Luisa and see how far she would get with it.

Rodrigo meets up with Luisa who shows him a file on Daniel Vidal's activities during the murders. She warns him she has to be very careful because her bosses all believe that this case is close.

Julian comes in and is greeted with the news that Matilde moved and she can recover.

Rodrigo ask Luisa can she really stop working on this case now that he gathering some evidence to prove that Julian is the killer?

Julian struck scared and numb is told by a happy Piedad that Matilde can recover. As Julian goes into manipulation mode Matilde parents come out and see his reaction and Matilde's dad doesn't look to happy with Julian right now as the mother looks confused at why is he acting like this.

Rodrigo gives Luisa his cell phone and they make plans to meet and exchange any new information they get right away. I think Rodrigo will be seeing her real quick with some new info tomorrow as Luisa warns him to only call her on her cell phone not the police line. Definitely a good little chemistry between these two.

Alguien

Julian goes to see for himself if Matilde is moving he lays beside her and touches her with one of his killing hands and urges her to move silently intimidating her as we see Matilde eyes bulged out and a look of fear on her face. Piedad tells Julian to stop pressuring her.

Julian says see she can't move as Emilio gets excited at the news his mother move Julian insists that they imagined it. He tries to quickly cover up and manipulate but Matilde's mother speaks up and says her own doctor recommended it and your friend but she stops herself when she realizes what she just said.

Julian's interest perks up asking what friend Rodrigo as Piedad says yes. They go into the other room alone.

Julian tells Piedad he can't believe she taking Rodrigo side on this but Piedad it's not about taking a side but it's about what is best to help Matilde get better.

Julian i don't like that you don't trust me or believe me as Piedad says it's not that why are you acting like this why are you so against Matilde getting this operation?

Julian i don't want to get Emilio's hope up and my opinion she doesn't need the operation because she won't get better from it. Piedad tells him well we all saw her hand move and i think she should have it.

Alguien

Julian angry and unhappy walks away from Piedad questioning him and not being loyal to him as Piedad tries to calm him down he walks out.

At this point it's safe to say that Rodrigo has a big bullseye on his back and Julian very well might succumb to his killing urge. You could see the anger and rage as he feels he's losing control of Matilde not having her operation and Rodrigo being out and about near Piedad and Sofia but looking into what he has been up to.

Julian uses some lockpick tools to break inside of Rodrigo's apartment at this point i'm just hoping and praying that Valeria is not ready yet to move in there.

Julian

AURORA -- Jueves

I wonder what Elizabeth did to Joaquin that he aged from the inside out. Poor Mercedes, to lose him a second time so quickly.

Considering how this story is so badly constructed they could at least find a better way to show that somebody is having a dream sequence. Not to mention that Blanca's nightmare about Martin was an excuse to show us Eugenio Siller's perfect body (not that there's anything wrong with that).

It is not realistic that Roque would not be able to speak English after so many years in New York.

The Cesar/Blanca/Vanessa triangle is only going to lead to tragedy.

I don't see anybody in this story having a felices para siempre.

HEREDEROS

Sofia gets more despicable every day. While Emilio del Monte is turning out to not have been the most honorable man, it seems unlikely that the adoptions of the five brothers would be irregular. They all have positive memories of him.

All the more reason we should ultimately discover that Paula isn't his daughter and Sofia deceived him.

Blood parentage of the five guys is now surfacing and it looks like at least two adoptions were legitimate. Does anyone else suspect that a couple of them are actually sons of Don Emilio and they were all told they were adopted so there would be less sibling rivalry? This would be the flip of the situation in FELS where Juan and Sofia took the three baby girls without wanting to know which was actually theirs.

Rosa and Miguel are going into heavy denial about Consuelo and Johnny while Rosario made a very naive mistake regarding the reunion of Lucas and his birth mother. This family is a total train wreck.

HEREDEROS - THURSDAY

Urban A, I also have wondered if maybe Emilio might have slipped a "mistake" or two into his household under his wife's nose under the guise of adoption.

I keep going back and forth with Consuelo. She stole her sister’s money, but then she agreed to work as a waitress to help support she and Johnny.

Which brother is supposed to be the elder, Amador or Lucas? I can’t figure out yet if she gave away the first child or the second.

Paula keeps up her plan to make Juan jealous and it’s infuriating how well it’s working.

It was very sad how Carmen pleaded with Lucas to at least hear her out, but he coldly refused. And then he was very nasty to Rosario.

The spoiled brat Consuelo lets me down again. She goes home for the comodidades, and humiliates her new husband in the process. What a dumb plot point this is: They’re married, but they have to sleep separately! Say what?

ALGUIEN – THURSDAY

It was great to see Rodrigo and Dr. Gibson arrive like the Marines to speak to Mathilde’s parents and dispel Julián’s misinformation campaign.

It looks like Eva took a vacation, maybe a cruise, and left the haunting spot available for Fabiola.

She was very effective in her scenes with her monstrous hijo. She said she knew he was ready to kill again. And she taunted him that Piedad really loves Rodrigo and even carries the fruit of that love in her arms. She also tells him he really hates Piedad for this. That sort of surprised me.

Rodrigo played Piedad like a violin when she was blindly willing to trust Julián’s opinion about Mathilde’s care. This has been driving me nuts all along: Since when is a divorced spouse able to decide on your medical care and dictate who can visit you on your sickbed! Anyway, Rodrigo rightly asked Piedad what she’d want people to do for her if she were condemned to lie there in a bed forever unable to embrace her child.

There’s a big breakthrough when Mathilde squeezes Rod’s hand. No one seems to notice Mathilde’s terrified eyes when Julián jumps on the bed with her pretending concern. Piedad gets a bit salty with Julián about opposing the surgery. As usual, he comes up with something: that Emilio will be hurt if it doesn’t work out. But, for once she doesn’t buy it.

ALGUIEN – THURSDAY

Vivi, I agree. Rodrigo looks better every day. We get to see some sunny smiles and he's adorable with his daughter. He looks more like the Christian in Zorro than the haunted person he's mostly been.

ALGUIEN
Happy people noticed Rodrigo, now I know why Julian is so jealous of him, and what the attraction was for Piedad. He does seem to have come out of his shell. Tonight's episode appears fascinating, I hope it's not another dream sequence.

HEREDEROS
I just don't get this novela. What is the possible attraction between Paula and Juan, what would attract Juan to Paula, I just don't get it. The dead father having all those kids, all those mistresses, come on give me a break, in a small town like that where everyone knows everyone's business, noone noticed? Like I said before take away the novela, and just let Mario read something or stare into the camera, and I would be happy. I've wanted to ask, I noticed a few times that Mario has problems lifting from a chair, did he ever have a back injury?

HEREDEROS -

As a man, I'll give my opinion as to why Juan is attracted to Paula. 1) She's drop dead gorgeous. 2) She's sexy as all get out 3) She highly intelligent 4) she's fearless 5) she does have moments of vulnerability, she's not an iceberg. 6) she's "forbidden fruit". I don't know if they'll end up together, but I totally understand why he has a difficult time resisting her.

ALGUIEN - Thursday

I'm worried for Rodrigo. I'm worried for Matilde. I'm worried for Tatiana. What's going to happen? How can Julian be stopped? This show has me not wanting each episode to end. I can't wait to see what happens next. It's like a book that's a "page-turner". Not too many novelas can do that.

I'm not sure Valeria said Camila can live at her apartment. The main reason she invited her there is that Valeria can't take all her clothes over to Rod's place, which is too small. So she told Camila that Camila can take her pick of all the outfits, since Camila doesn't have too much in her clothing budget these days.

Rodrigo and Luisa are both going to Dallas to interview the former cellmate of Daniel Vidal. Of course, that's if nothing happens to Rodrigo first.

HEREDEROS-
I find the overpowering sexual attraction between Paula and Juan to be much more understandable than the 'true love at first sight' that happens so often in novelas.

It's interesting. I had never heard the word 'astro' being used for 'star' before Rosario starting talking about 'los astros.' The Reverso online dictionary makes no distinction between the meaning of 'astro' and 'estrella' but the Spanish language version of Wikipedia says that, 'astro se refiere a cualquier cuerpo celeste con forma definida. Existen infinidad de astros en el Universo, de los cuales los astrónomos han categorizado varios tipos.' ('Astro' refers to any type of celestial body that has a definite form. There are an infinite number of 'astros' in the universe, which astronomers have classified into various types,' i.e., planets, stars, comets, etc.)

So Spanish is more precise than English. In English, one generally speaks of the effect of the 'stars' when referring to astrology but of course, the planets are involved also. 'Astro' refers to both.

ALGUIEN - jueves

In the Department of Yes, I Really am That Superficial:

It was a sweet gesture on Valeria's part to offer her designer hand-me-downs to Camila. Too bad the only things likely to fit both skeletal Valeria and healthy-looking Camila would be gloves and hats. And because even in the warmth of Chicago-Miami, poor Valeria is probably always freezing, these are precisely the items she's apt to hold on to. (And the ones Camila has enough natural insulation not to need).

It was distracting to see little Sofía's head sort of loose on Piedad's arm. She's not a bunch of salad greens. Piedad! Check out Rodrigo's technique -- he knows how to support a newborn's head!
-------
About tonight's episode: I feel both hope and dread. I guess that's just where they want us.

HEREDEROS

Jean, Even though I'm not watching this show, I did catch your estrella/astro comment. Thank you! I love learning stuff like that!

HEREDEROS

Novelera: That's very possible and if I had to guess it would be Juan and Gaspar, who look very alike (That casting decision was for a reason). Maybe even Jose, as they all have the cleft chin to one degree or another. If Don Emilio himself didn't have a cleft chin, that could mean that they all would also have the same birth mother.

Wasn't there another novela in which such a thing happened?

HEREDEROS

One more comment on that: I'd hardly call those "mistakes", because those three guy are genetic home runs!

Urban A, if there was another novela with biological children disguised as adoptive ones, I don't think I saw it. But, who knows, after many years of watching novelas, they start to run together in my mind!

By "mistakes" I didn't mean how they turned out. Obviously pretty darned well. Just that Emilio might have had to scramble when one or more of his mistresses turned up pregnant.

Speaking of heredity, there was another reveal I just thought about: that Pedro knows both his parents were alcoholics. Apparently this is a strong factor in the children becoming alcoholics themselves.

GENERAL

Novelera: "if there was another novela with biological children disguised as adoptive ones, I don't think I saw it"

Right now in Eva Luna, one of the villains is actually the bio child of her "adoptive" father. He thinks she was adopted, but his evil wife really stole her from his one true love many years ago just after she was born. Surprisingly, she didn't pull the old fake pregnancy thing.

Vivi: I'm not watching EL, but thanks for letting me know about this plot development. That is kind of a Univision/Televisa standby though, angry female steals heroine's baby. Actually, stolen babies abound. I wonder if mothers in Mexico are starting to implant tracking devices in their offspring!

Whoops, that last Anon reply to Vivi was me.

The mothers in Mexico should microchip their babies like I did with my cat! :-)

ALGUIEN

NovelaMaven you also noticed Piedad holding poor Sofia all wrong! If Julian sees her, she will take that heart out on the spot for being such a bad mother :D CM really knows how to hold a baby, you can tell he is a father of three. He usually has good chemistry with them too.

How nasty was that Piedad? He is comforting Matilde telling her that miracles exist and she has to go and put him down, as usual.Even Lola who usually acts like she is constipated was nicer and reasonable.

And yes, I'm loving my Rodri and Im either seeing chemistry between him and all the women or Im imagining it only so he doesn't have to end up with Piedad. Luisa, Matilde, anyone will do! Hey, even Veronica (actually no, I think Veronica is the most annoying woman after Piedad. I also want to see her face when she finds out Julian is the killer. It would be nice if he scared her a little :D)

Blu, I wanted to add a couple of things to your wonderful recaps.

Emilio told Julian that he wanted to show his mom, a drawing of a magician, who will come to her with a magic wand and cure her. This is when Julian stepped on the brakes.

Then, the dialogue between Rodrigo and Matilde went something like this:

Carvajal: I owe this to Eva. Everything I know as a detective she taught me. That bastard not only killed her, he also ruined her reputation.

Rodrigo: I didn't know you cops were so solidary

Carvajal: Cut it out Quintana! Don't get all sentimental. I like you better when you insult me

Rodrigo: Ok, then prepare for my insults because we are going to Dallas

Carvajal: I don't think it's such a good idea

Rodrigo: I'm not asking, I am informing you. We are going together. You will do this for Eva and I'll do for Piedad and my daugther.

Then they exchanged cell numbers :)

GENERAL, Off-Topic

Novelera, one of my oldest friends is descended from alcoholics on both sides of her family. Her mother was the most notorious drinker for that generation of her family.

Friend was getting wasted on a regular basis from the age of 14 on. She quit cold turkey in '89, but still has major self-esteem issues.

There is evidence that a child of alcoholics can beat heredity by refraining from drinking at all until adulthood. With adults in her family being proud of the ability to hold their liquor and giving Dixie cups of wine to 3-year-old kids she didn't stand a chance.

I think it would be a big mistake for Julian to do what we're were shown but then again he's losing his grip on reality real fast and Rodrigo now with the help of Luisa or getting closer to the truth all they need is evidence.

If Julian gets desperate to kill again he does have a lot of candidates handy for him. Rodrigo,Tatiana,Valeria and the pole dancer with her son and of course Matilde.

He just can't make a move now because Rodrigo is out and now that he's joined with Luisa to expose Julian. One little mistake will be his downfall.

So if this ending on the 28th of Feb we have about 12 more episodes left?

That was a magician that Emilio drew i couldn't tell what the heck it was i thought it was guy with a black cape or overcoat holding a knife!

I didn't pick up the Dallas also missed Luisa saying she was doing it for Eva not surprising since they keep showing her looking at Eva's picture. As for Rodrigo saying he was doing it for Piedad and Sofia i heard a little of that part but wasn't sure exactly about what. Thanks i just wish he would get over brain dead already.

What a absolute kill joy she was saying that to Rodrigo when he was trying to cheer up Matilde. Really each episode of her acting like this shows she really does deserve Julian.

There's going to be a lot of people at the end of this who are going to be like those people we see on the news or Dateline type of shows. Saying i had no idea that Julian of all people was capable of doing this. He seemed so normal and well adjusted.
