La Verdad Oculta 99: Sleeping Beauty and the Beast

Mini Summary: The gang at JJ’s celebrate the return of the kiddies; no one calls Elsa; Yolanda spends the night at JJ’s but sneaks out early in the morning; JJ asks Ale to marry him tomorrow and she accepts; David tells Gabi just enough truth, and gives her plenty of loving, to keep her satisfied (for now); battered, bruised and broken Edgar becomes roommate to an awakened and recovered Susana at the hospital; the hospital calls Edgar’s only phone contact- Adolfo, who finds an unconscious Edgar; Elsa takes a hard look at herself, her attachment to and jealousy over JJ, and her treatment of Mauricio—she decides she wants Mauricio in her life; the kiddies share their tale of kidnapping, Yolanda and Edgar with the gang and Leo; Caramelo gives Yolanda a promotion to Tia, and demotes Elsa to Tia; the writers give us an easy way out of this custody nightmare by having Caramelo choose to live with the newly solidified family at JJ’s (new mommy and all); Elsa accepts this, but does not accept being bullied by Dante and his goons; Edgar convinces Susana to team up with him to hide from Adolfo’s wrath—they leave the hospital before Adolfo shows; Leo throws Adolfo off his game by taunting him with his latest failed attempt at assassination (it was a guard that was killed by Hernandez, not JJ); Susana fruitlessly searches her apartment for the money and the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter diamonds; at their hotel hideout, Susana tells Edgar all about the money acquired from selling THE LETTER, and shows him THE PICTURE, THE SHOES, and THE DIAMONDS.

Full Recap: Limon has lost consciousness and his wig, and JJ has lost the power of speech, at the sight of the two beaming kiddies, safely delivered to the front door. They are both soon joined by joyous Lucha and Ale, and the kids and adults join together in happy hugs and kisses. Limon reminds Ale of the power of faith. From now on, she’s a believer! This giddy scene is interrupted by the entrance of Yolanda, who lets them know that she came with the kids. Caramelo elaborates further by telling them Yolanda was kidnapped (fue secuestrada) with them. Ale introduces Yolanda to everyone as a friend of her Tio Mario. She is immediately invited to sit down and to eat, and asked if she needs a doctor for her head wound. She takes a seat, turns down the offer for a doctor, and since Chicles already took the two lady-folk to dinner, she is only in need of a bath. They gladly offer her the bath facilities and convince her to also spend the night, with much urging. Lucha is so happy to have her little scamp back that she promises to never scold (regañar) Chicles again (we’ll see how long that lasts). Caramelo moves Yolanda to tears by declaring her to be Tia Yolanda for how well she took care of them during the ordeal. Chicles also thinks Edgar deserves props, leading Ale to wonder what Edgar they are speaking of. They all shoo away the bad thoughts to once again celebrate the return of the kids.

It would be nice if they actually thought of spreading some of that joy on to Elsa, because she is spending a sleepless night of regret and worry. Luckily, she has Kindhearted Ulises to share her woes. Woe #1: Her heated argument with Ale, when what happened to the kids could have happened to anyone. She realizes that her rage (coraje) had to do with feeling that Ale stole JJ from her. Woe #2: JJ was never hers to begin with. He never loved her. Woe #3: Mauricio The Wonderful came into her life, helped build her confidence in herself. And what does she do? She kicked him to the curb. (mandar al diablo/send to the devil) She’s so stupid! She’s done everything wrong. Woe #4: Her little girl is missing, and what if they don’t find her?! She can’t even think about it or what might be happening to her. Ulises thinks she’s having one of those moments, when she’s at a crossroads of confusion and regret thinking about her life. He thinks it’s best if she goes to bed to get some sleep, and pray to San Jose for a miracle. The next thing she needs to do is to stop being stupid about Mauricio. In addition to being an absolute babe (bonbon), he’s also a good man and he loves her like crazy.

Ramon, who is really burning the candle at both ends, calls Leo from the office. They’ve identified the two corpses found at the kidnap site- Pablo Cantu and Luis Delgado (aka Ears). They used to do business with Felix. And their fingerprints appeared on Ale’s car, so they for sure were involved in the kidnapping. All most likely under the orders of Adolfo.

At the hospital Pretty Eddy, who isn’t looking so pretty at the moment, has just been wheeled in to Susana’s room at the hospital. She obviously doesn’t recognize him with his face swollen to twice its normal size and black and blue. Two doctors are attending to the pretty patient who was comatose until recently. They are pleased with her recovery. She gets released tomorrow, but has no friends or relatives to pick her up.

At Adolfo’s, he and his partner (socio) Dante have just come to an agreement. Dante will go see the girl tomorrow. Just as Dante leaves, Adolfo receives a call from the hospital. They found his number in the phone of an unconscious man- around 35 years old, black hair, strong, formerly handsome… Adolfo knows who it is, but says it’s the relative of one of his servants.

Back at Elsa’s, she has not taken Ulises advice to go to sleep, but she has taken his advice to stop being stupid about Mauricio. She calls Mauricio and asks him to accompany her to JJ’s the next day to find out if they’ve learned anything new about the kids. She’s dying of anxiety over the kids and can’t sleep. Mauricio tries to calm her down and asks if she wants him to come over. She turns down the offer since it would be too much to ask of him, but she still wants him to come with her tomorrow. Mau wonders if she just wants him to come with her because she doesn’t want to go alone. She brings a big smile the big guy’s face by telling him the reason why she wants him to come is because she wants to see him.

At the hospital, Adolfo is trying to figure out what happened to Edgar and making sure the police haven’t been brought into the matter. As he talks to the nurse and a comatose Edgar, Susana trembles in fear on the other side of the curtain, recognizing the familiar evil voice. He tells the nurse that he’ll be back tomorrow to transfer him to a private hospital. (Either Eddie will get the same private medical care as Felix, or he’ll be joining Garnica on that “aquatics team.”) A while later, the nurses gossip about the poor man and his injuries- multiple fractures in his arm, and bruises all over his body. And how’s Sleeping Beauty? ( La Bella Durmiente) She’s awake, has all her faculties and no permanent damage.

At Casa Genoves, David and Gabi are showing us that just because you’re married, doesn’t mean you can’t still bring the sexy. They bask naked in afterglow under the sheets. Gabi is promising she can keep a secret, if David tells her all. She wants him to have confidence in her. David decides to tell her a bit more about the plan to foil Adolfo’s plans to kill JJ with a fake hit (asasinato falso), and that’s what he, JJ, and Leo were celebrating when she called (he leaves out Fausto/Mario). Never one to be satisfied with sketchy details, Gabi starts to ask more pointed questions about the whos/whats/whens/wheres/and whys. David puts a halt to her questions, asking her to just trust him. And he has no idea who the mystery woman who has been calling is either. He doesn’t have “amigas”; she’s the only woman in his life. Gabi wonders if it could be a former girlfriend. David doesn’t know and doesn’t care. He’ll speak to whoever it is next time. What he does know is he loves her with his whole soul and he doesn’t want to be with anyone else, he simply can’t. He only wants to be with her. They get back to married couple loving.

At JJ’s it seems that the phone actually works, because Ale is speaking to Leo and telling him about the return of the kids and Yolanda’s involvement. Your recapper is too angry at our two otherwise lovable protagonists to share in their joy about the return of the children, or to really care about JJ’s proposal to Ale get married the next day. She says yes. I’m done with this scene. (Ok, Ale also said some stuff about the guilt killing her, loving Cara and wanting to be her mom.)

Early the next morning, Tia Yolanda sneaks out of the house. And at the hospital, Edgar has woken up from his drug induced sleep and getting news of his injuries from the doctor. He’s obviously in a LOT of pain. On the other side of the curtain, Susana is being discharged and given back all the items she came with, including THE PICTURE and THE SHOES. She clutches the precious shoes to her as the nurse advises her to wear flip flops instead. The doctor joins in. High heels like those are a no no for someone in her condition. She could lose her balance. In addition, she will likely have occasional lapses in memory, but it’s normal. She needs to take it easy and do her rehab exercises, until her body and mind fully heal. Back on the other side of the curtain, Edgar’s doctor tells him about Adolfo’s visit and that he’s coming back today to “transfer him to a private hospital.” Edgar doesn’t like the sound of this and decides he needs to leave, NOW, broken bones and bruises be damned. He tells the doc that he’s got a cousin who’s a doctor who can care for him at home. The doctor wants him to at least make a statement to the police about the guys who beat him up, but Edgar refuses. All he needs are his anti-inflammatory and pain meds prescriptions.

Yolanda returns to her condo and heads straight to Juanita’s room to search the mattress for THE LETTER. She is shocked to find not only the mattress missing, but all of Juanita’s things.

Back at the hospital, Susana get’s discharged just as Edgar is being dressed and put in a sling by the nurse. He finally sees her face, recognizes her, runs after her, and catches her just before she catches a taxi. He hobbles up behind her, scaring her, but convinces her to get into a taxi with him right away before Adolfo arrives. If Adolfo finds them, he’ll KILL them! They pull out just as Adolfo pulls up. He is shocked to find out from the nurse that Edgar already left.

At JJ’s, the whole gang is up, dressed and has visitors—FaustiMario and Leo. I’m guessing there was plenty of time to call Elsa. They explain about Yolanda disappearing before daybreak. FaustiMario is sure Adolfo must be threatening and controlling her, and Ale marvels at how some women will still stick to a man who harms her. Caramelo thinks Yolanda is good peeps (buena gente). The two kids tell Leo the whole story of the kidnapping from the beginning, horrifying the adults with all the scary details. Chicles gets to the part about Edgar letting them escape. Ale thinks it’s a miracle that Edgar, although one of Adolfo’s men, let them escape. They all argue the point about whether someone like that could have good in them.

In the taxi Susana explains how she ended up in the hospital. Edgar tries to talk her out of going back to her apartment since he’s sure Adolfo is on their trail. She insists she has to go to pick up a few things.

The doorbell rings at JJ’s, and the kiddies as usual run to answer the door (haven’t these adults learned anything?). Elsa and Mauricio are shocked to see Chicles answer the door, and even more so when Caramelo leaps into Elsa’s arms a second later. “Como estas chiquita?!” After Caramelo assures her she’s well, a royally ticked Elsa enters the house and wants to know why they didn’t tell her the children were back. JJ looks like he can’t be bothered. Limon tries to act like all it all just happened and they were about to call her. Chicles chooses the wrong moment to start a 100% honesty policy and calls out Limon on his lie. He announces to Elsa that they arrived last night! “Do you think I’m an idiot or what?!” Ale jumps in and says they were all just so excited (emocionados) that they forgot to call her. (Thanks Ale. That makes it all better.) Elsa responds with sarcasm- “Oh, that’s totally understandable. Of course!” Caramelo looks up at her- “Please don’t get mad tia.” This pushes Elsa to her limits. She accuses the Insensitive Gang of influencing Cara to start calling her tia again. JJ doesn’t try to smooth things over, instead he tells Elsa that Caramelo will no longer live with her, but instead will live in HER HOUSE, with HER FAMILY. When Elsa says she’s her mother, JJ yells at her that she’s NO ONE’S mother. He and Ale are getting married and adopting her. Elsa throws his ex convict status and inability to adopt in his face. Mauricio decides to jump in to diffuse the situation. He asks JJ to let Elsa take Cara tonight and then tomorrow they can talk about it calmly. Since everything that comes out of Mauricio’s mouth, including common sense, sounds like a threat to JJ, he goes after Mau and yells at him to butt out. Leo holds JJ back from getting physical with him. “This business is between me and her (Elsa)!” Mauricio says he’s just trying to find a way for them to deal with this in the most just/fair way. (There he goes talking that common sense to JJ again. He should know better by now.) Remember that Elsa has the legal rights over Caramelo, even if you don’t like it. JJ doesn’t like it, so much so that he wants to break Mau’s face. Leo holds JJ back as he yells at Mau, Ale starts yelling as well, and Leo shouts them both down to calm themselves. Caramelo goes over to give her Tio Limon a hug and tells her Tia Elsa that she doesn’t want to leave him. This is music to Limon’s ears. “What did you say my love?” “I want to live here with you. I don’t want to be apart from my Tio Limon. I want to be with him always!” She also wants to be with the whole gang who live in the house. JJ looks at Elsa smugly, as she clings sadly to Mau. Mau tries talking common sense again and tells Cara that she has to live with Elsa because she’s her mom (Social Services would likely agree with this). Elsa stops him and graciously says to leave her. If she doesn’t want to live with me, so be it. When she leaves, JJ and the gang act like they just defeated the Evil Witch of the West. Ding dong the witch is dead. Cara is the only one who has remorse that her Tia Elsa left being so sad. Well she’ll just have to get used to it because you’ll be living here with us! Cara wonders if this means that Ale will be her mama. Limon loves this idea! (Could it be because Ale will be living in the same house? If she wanted to live somewhere else, without Limon around, he’d change his tune.) Happy, happy, joy, joy!

At her police sealed apartment, Susana discovers that the money and the butter diamonds have been taken. “Me robaron todo!” (They stole everything from me!) Her shouts bring the landlord who is none too happy to see her. She accuses him of stealing her money and her butter. He didn’t touch anything; it was the cops and he’s going to call them now to tell them she’s returned. Edgar tries to hustle Susana out of the apartment. When the landlord tries to detain them, he gets a swift whack to his family jewels from Eddie’s cane. He’s left rolling on the floor in agony as Edgar and Susana flee.

Adolfo is scouring the newspapers for news of last night’s hit on JJ when he is interrupted by a call from Leo. “What the hell do you want?! Make an appointment with my secretary!” Leo needs to talk to him right now. In fact, he’s in his house. “Que?!” He opens his office door and is greeted by the stern face of Leo.

Mauricio drops off Elsa at her door. She asks to be alone so she can think about everything that happened. Mau looks a bit put out, fearing he’s getting the cold shoulder again. Elsa asks him to have patience with her one more time. It’s just that what happened with Caramelo really hurt her. He knows. That’s why he wants to be with her to support her. But he doesn’t want to be taken for granted and ignored. She admits she has been self centered (egoista) in the past and taken advantage of him. But she loves him and she wants to be with him. She touches his cheek. Right now she just needs to be alone. He agrees to leave her alone, but he’ll be in his office if she needs anything. He goes in for the kiss on the cheek, but newly bold Elsa changes the trajectory and plants a firm smooch right on his kissable lips. They are in the midst of being transported by this kiss when Ulises interrupts. He’s happy to see the pair reunited.

Adolfo, however, is not happy to see Leo. This is harassment! If he doesn’t have a warrant for arrest or concrete proof, then he’s going to bring Leo up on charges of abuse of power. Leo’s not bothered. Proof is steadily coming to light. Adolfo still thinks they’ve got nothing on him. He’s not going to fall for these pressure tactics that they learn at the police academy. Unless Leo has an order from a judge, he needs to beat it. Leo’s ok with that. He just came for a social visit. He makes his way out, but then turns back to Adolfo. If Adolfo is looking for news of JJ’s murder in the papers, then he’s wasting his time. “Victoria no esta muerto.” The one Hernandez killed was a guard. Now they’ve got him in questioning and he mentioned a guy named Edgar Lopez, who he believes works for Adolfo. He used to work for the Genoves and is the prime suspect in Roberto’s murder. Adolfo plays dumb. He doesn’t know the guy. Leo goes on. This Edgar escaped from the cops after the attempt on JJ. Speaking of JJ, he gave the police the address of the location where two bodies were found. These same two were the ones who kidnapped two children from Ale’s car. “You don’t know anything about this?” Adolfo has had enough. He orders Leo to go. Fine by Leo. Soon he’ll have the pleasure of seeing Adolfo in jail.

Dante is at Elsa’s door with his two goons, outnumbering Elsa and Ulises. Ulises has her back as she tells Dante that she doesn’t want to talk to him and orders him to leave. He convinces her to talk to him, and Ulises to leave. Ulises says he will be in his apartment, but instead he sticks close by listening on the other side of the door. Dante wants to know exactly what Elsa told the cops. She defiantly tells him she told them the truth about what happened. That he had her sell jewels that didn’t have bills of sale, although he told her they did. He calls her stupid, since the problem was easily fixed with him giving the clients back their money. Elsa doesn’t know why he’s coming to look for her. The one who should be upset here is her, for him having involved her in something so disgusting (asqueroso). Dante doesn’t think he’s responsible for dragging Snow White through the mud. He’s done some investigating and found out she has a brother in jail for murder and smuggling. He’s sure she has the same criminal tendencies in the blood. Elsa tells them to get the heck out. Ulises senses the moment is getting tense and springs back into Elsa’s apartment. He threatens to call the cops if Dante doesn’t leave. He and Elsa stare them down as they exit. “Shoo shoo shoo.” Ulises begs Elsa’s forgiveness for having connected her with Zaida for the job. She tells him not to worry about it.

At the hotel Edgar explains that he’s hiding from Adolfo because he didn’t do something he ordered him to do. He has her order his meds though room service, since it’s too dangerous for her to go out. She will be his life line, and he swears he’ll protect her. He’s not going to hurt her. Now he wants her to explain the money and the butter.

At Casa Genoves, Ale interrupts Gabi and David’s meal with the happy news of the return of the kids. She then shocks them with the news of Yolanda and Edgar’s roles in the whole drama. Anyway, she has to head to the beauty salon, because JJ wants them to get married tomorrow! Gabi jumps up and gives her cousin (unbeknownst to her) a congratulatory hug. Ale convinces Gabi to come with her. They run off leaving David.

Back in the hotel, Susana has just given Edgar his shots, using her nursing aid experience from the States. Now it’s time to spill the details. She tells Edgar about the 1.5 million pesos that was in her bag, but hesitates. Edgar once again begs her to trust him. She begins the tale, detailing how she found Dora’s letter, then the photo of Gabi and the connection to the shoes she is wearing this very moment. Edgar’s still not getting the importance of all this. Then Susana takes off her shoe and shows Edgar what’s inside. Huge, sparkling DIAMONDS! Edgar is speechless.

Vivi, thanks for the mini recap and a place to start our comments. The title and photos are wonderfully clever and so telling.

Well, I'm going to have to work hard to forgive Asuncion, JJ and Limon for leaving Elsa in the dark on something as important as the recovery of the children. And, in a Solomonic choice, Elsa walked away. What a spotlight into the personalities of the four people, Elsa on the high road and the rest in a black ditch.

Good Morning, Vivi,

Fabulous title ! Beautifully crafted synopsis. I'm rushing out but wanted to post a few words.
This episode was one of the best with each segment informative and/ or thrilling. Like Elsa, I have finally come to LOVE Mauricio and
just about despise insensitive, immature, irrationale, and overly aggressive, agonizingly cruel JJ aka PH.) He continues to abuse the two people in the room who ssisted him when he most needed help. There is no excuse whatsoever that not one of those happy campers thought to call anguished Elsa. It was totally predictable that Caramelo would choose to stay with Limón and her extended family. Elsa accepted her decision instantly and graciously. I also like the way she maturely chose to sort out her feelings alone instead of helplessly leaning on Mauricio at that time. She's my girl!

Corrections:

(aka PH).

assisted

RIGHT ON, Sandy! Elsa indeed took the high road.

Thanks so much Vivi! Haven't seen the episode yet, so I will be back. Meanwhile, here are the You Tube links for Episode 99:

What a great juxtaposition of photos Vivi. Way to illustrate the title, clever girl! Thanks.

Just watched the episode, and I have to say I just love Ulises. He was introduced late, but he's a great addition.

As far as Caramelo's reconciliation goes, it leaves me apathetic. It's still true that disgusting, #$%$ idiot Juan José is an ex-con and Asunción is still an unrepentant, ignorant bum and not illegible to parent.

Caramelo is eight years old and has no concept of what Asunción had planned for her, living on the street: growing up without an education -- or without state medical care -- or any of the other privileges due a Mexican citizen.

All because Asuncíon is a selfish #$%$ who would rather keep her in the underworld with him than become a decent parent candidate or risk losing her.

Even if it appeared Elsa took the high road, she cannot legally leave Caramelo with the two men. Even if Alejandra marries Juan José, it shouldn't change his status, though they gloss over it with dramatic license.

I'm really happy Elsa wised up and reconnected with Mauricio. Their scenes were very sweet.

Poor Yolanda; now that Adolfo has betrayed her, I wonder what she will do. I hope she turns to Carlos and turns on Adolfo.

The most interesting dynamic now is Édgar teaming up with Susana, IMO. Both are rather fascinating, and I'm looking forward to see where they go.

All in all, a terrific episode with loads of important stuff. A true, typical LVO experience.

Thank you for the very informative summary, Vivi, I'm looking forward the recap!

Team Ulises! :)

Wow, Édgar and Susana met again. That's rich. Literally.

Okay, complaint time. I don't understand the writers. Yes, it's a fantastic and intelligent show, but the way they treat specific characters is ridiculous.

Why, why on Earth do they portray joykiller, insignificant, completely side character Elsa as the angel, the victim, the wise mother all the time and make characters who are ten times more interesting and hundred times more important than her look like devil' spawns? I appreciate the fact that the writers tried to create complex characters, but JJ became too impulsive, narrow-minded, and his hatred against Mauricio is ridiculous. My favourite Alejandra didn't get enough scenes where she could've shown her positive, caring side. For God's sake, they are the protagonists!

What did Elsa add to the story so far? At the beginning she helped JJ and Caramelo. Okay. But since then her only purpose is to quarrel with JJ and to be the angelic opposite of the protagonists. Pointless character. If she's so great then why isn't she more interesting and why didn't she get a storyline that has nothing to do with JJ/Cara/Asunción?

Caramelo was never meant to be her daughter, and now it's obvious that the writers had known that well. Her relationship with Caramelo didn't lead anywhere. Then why didn't they give more screentime to Alejandra and Cara, JJ and Cara, anyone else and Cara instead of the 10000000000 Elsa and Cara scenes? Yes, another remnant of Al final del arco iris.

If I was one of the writers I would've evolved her storyline into something else. She and JJ would've been friends/amicable allies, after the 35-40th episode she would've stopped pining after him, her relationship with Mauricio/other galán would've been much interesting and big fat NO to the unbearable adoption storyline. JJ would've been smarter, Alejandra would've fallen in love with Caramelo slowly after episode 60-70.

Why didn't A/A/JJ call Elsa in the evening? They did inform Leonardo, they should've called her, too. Anyway, I'm happy that the stupid custody situation ended at last.

Vivi, I laughed out loud when I saw your title and the photos of sleeping beauty and the beast. This was a dialogue packed episode that went from one set of conversations to another....very little action to take up time. I am so appreciative of these recaps that help me keep everything straight. The minirecap is great.

So, no one bothered to call Elsa, No one, not even Ale after she called Leo, was kind or considerate enough to relieve Elsa's anguish which had to be similar to what they had been feeling. And Ale was incapacitated by guilt and fear for days but couldn't relate that Elsa might need to know the kids are okay. What a bunch of selfish bozos. And our hero Leo didn't call Elsa either.

Loved how Adolfo drove up a second after Susana and Eddie escaped in the taxi. Another little surprising defeat for Adolfo to find that Edgar had checked out. So he still doesn't know where the kiddies are.. Okay, Edgar is totally a wreck but he still had it in him to use his cane to whap the apartment manager where it hurts when the manager said he had to call the authorities. And mangled Eddie easily manages to wheedle all the vital info from Susana. Can't wait to see what Edgar is up to. Is he going to help or harm Susana with his newfound bonanza info. Is there really a new improved Edgar? Looking forward to the recap, Vivi. Have a great day!

Elsa surely deserved better. Aribeth, agree it's strange that the seemingly "minor" character makes selfless decisions while the good protagonists do the opposite. I can only think the protagonists will redeem themselves somehow with Elsa's entanglement with Dante. Thank goodness Elsa has Ulises now. He's the kind of sounding board she's needed all her life.

I'm wondering about Yolanda's and Zaida's next moves. I don't know how Yolanda will be able to even look at Adolfo after this. And surely after rape by Adolfo's scum, Zaida will rethink her line of work.

I give EY credit for taking a role where he's not so honorable all the time. In the interview Aribeth shared, he said they offered him the role of David, a more traditional galan, but he preferred to play the "callejon(?)" Also, if Mexican viewers are similar to U.S. viewers, I can imagine actress Alejandra received angry letters when Ale said she didn't want Caramelo or when she left the kids in the car.

JJ was a very honorable and good character at the beginning. The hell broke loose at episode 31, when he had the first quarrel with Elsa. That was the day when both characters went wrong.

I think EY chose JJ (el callejero) because he grew up as a poor nobody, too, and he had played enough rich, educated guys before.

Vivi, loved your photos and title!!!!

JJ/Ale and Limon were mean and selfish not informing Elsa of the Kiddies return.

Elsa was indeed gracious the way she accepted Cara's decision. Of course, she is a child and can't make this decision on her own.

I'm so glad Elsa made up her mind that she has a great guy in Mauricio. I'm wondering how this will all end. Do you all feel that it is a done deal JJ and Ale will take Cara as their own???

Was Yolanda looking for the letter??? Did Chiclas tell her where he put it??? I hope Yolanda will be safe and go to stay with Carlos.

Loved your synopsis Vivi...looking forward to your recap. Thanks Jeri for the links.

Thanks so much Vivi, I can't wait for the full recap!

I loved this episode though some parts left me fuming. Floridia, I agree with you about JJ, Jeri I agree with you about Limon, and I will add that Alejandra has dropped below Bertha in my opinion. Bertha doesn't hide the fact that she's a snake, Alejandra sugar coats it. I don't think the three of them "forgot" to call Elsa, they very deliberately chose not to. That was just heartless.

"Do you all feel that it is a done deal JJ and Ale will take Cara as their own???

No, I don't think the custody thing is over. If it is true to life and Elsa tells the child services worker she isn't adopting Caramelo, she will be taken away. JJ won't get her because of his criminal record. Limon won't get her because he is not a relative and has no record of being a productive citizen and no, Alejandra will not get her either because when the kids went missing, it was reported to the police and it was while they were in her care. She left two kids alone in a car. But... that said it is a TN and were are getting close to the end, so they may let it be a wash.

I want to know where Zaida is and when she's going to pop up next. Last time we saw her she was at the warehouse with Adolfo. Now she's alone.

Oh, and I should add to my above post that if Ale and JJ do rush out and get married, Ale will be constrained from getting Caramelo because of her marriage to a criminal.

Aribeth, I have to strongly disagree with you about Elsa. I think her character has been far more interesting than Ale. She has shown more maturity, more concern and more growth than almost anyone else in this TN besides David. Ale on the other hand remains nearly the same as she was at the beginning. Shallow, self-centered and snotty. I still haven't warmed to her at all.

What if Yolanda is looking for the letter and finds it, or if the letter comes up again at the JJ household and Chiclas tells him where he hid the letter and they find it, won't that clear up JJ's record and he and Ale will get Cara???

I just hope I will be happy with the ending. I loved Elsa as a mother.

Looking forward to the recap Vivi. I have to go on a rant about how despicable JJ, Limon, and Alex treated Elsa. First of all, they didn't bother to call her to let her know that the kids turned up safe and unharmed while she anguished over their whereabouts. Secondly, when she shows up at the house to find out the information to only be greeted with hostility because she was rightly outraged that they kept her in the dark. On top of that, dumbass JJ tries to attack Mau in front of Leo when he truthfully told him that he has a record which could thwart the adoption. How convenient that now Caramelo wants Alex to be her mommy and Elsa her tia. Not once did they take into consideration that just because JJ and Alex are going to marry the next day to hurry the adoption proceedings, that doesn't change anything. JJ still has a conviction on his record and Limon still can't read or write. What a bunch of idiots. Ugh. Having said all that, I was glad that Elsa took the high road and acted like the only adult in the room and she gave Mau another chance. I think she sees now who her real Prince Charming is. Rant over.

So Susana and Edgar have teamed up. I wonder will she tell him what she suspects about Mario an impersonator since her memory is intact. She already told him about the shoes, diamonds, photo, and The Letter.

xlnt, I like both Elsa and Alejandra; but agree they've hardly developed Alejandra at all. I have no idea why she does what she does.

I don't know why she was involved with goofball Roberto, and I don't know why she fell in love with Juan José either. I still don't.

Ann, I think Carlos is going to come forward and absolve Juan José of his ex-con status; then they will be clear to adopt Caramelo.

So there would still be some jockeying in the meantime in that scenario, since Carlos probably won't come forward immediately.

Pirate Babe, regarding Alejandra, I was noting last night that Caramelo latches on to just about anybody who's good to her.

She started calling Yolanda her auntie in the car on the way home and continued to do so, to Yolanda's complete delight.

I think that the reason that Elsa has a number of supporters at the LVO blog is that we can relate to her:

1.Helped a no-count relative/friend/boyfriend with no appreciation...Check

2.Had a going-no-where fast job making no money.....Check

3.Been in a relationship where you gave all and got nothing....Check

4.Helped a relative/friend/child giving much of yourself for little in return....Check

5.Let a great guy (almost) get away.....Check

6. Made a fool of yourself over someone....Check

7. Had a hard time letting go of someone or something at some point......Check

Xlnt:
Elsa is mature, nice, good-hearted, but I don't see that much growth either.
- She was a nice, humble dress vendor at the beginning without real friends and a real family. She is a nice, humble jewel vendor without real friends, with a caring "niece" and with a questionable relationship. Though it seems at last she's ready to love Mauricio.
- She was obviously a good mother material, she's still a good mother material.
- She took care of Piedad, she took care of Caramelo.
- She's got a better wardrobe and she became a more confident. However, she still can't believe she's worthy of having a complex job. I still feel loser wibe.

Carlos and David had huge character developments. Elsa is a 1,5 dimensional good girl with a great potential.

As for Caramelo - since I never believed her enthusiasm for her new life was much more than a whim I can buy she wants to go back to the JJ household. No, they can't adopt her yet. What will happen next?

Jeri:
they've hardly developed Alejandra at all

Yes, that's a big problem. I never understood why she dated with Roberto, either. I can see why she likes Juan José - when he isn't act like a caveman.

And of course I'm very biased. I prefer Alejandra Barros's acting over Silvia Ramírez's. Actually developed a girlcrush on that woman and I focus on the character's best moments. Her love for Mario and her friendship with Fausto, the moments when she uses her brain, the moments when she calms her man down, the many moments when Barros's grace shines up. I don't think she's with JJ for his money. Or she could've killed her own baby. Or she and the others didn't want to call Elsa. Or she's unable to love an adopted child. Though a better character development would've been great and I don't like that she lost the kids.

Sandy: :)))

Check, check, check, check. :)

8. Trying to get along with seemingly very nice, mature, shy girls and getting fed out with their holier-than-thou, passive-agressive behaviours - check.

Though IRL I'm more like Elsa than Alejandra (I mean introverted but of course I'll never be as noble and angelic like Santa Elsa), but this girl irritates me since October. I was very amicable towards her for a long time, but when they started to quarrel, and I heard her passive-agressive way of arguing for the first time, no matter how mad I was at JJ for his rudeness, I wanted to slap her, too. Since then my affection towards her slowly disappeared. Every time I see her happy and kind and polite and whatsoever I think about the moments when she gets bitchy and those moments are ugly.

Looooook, what YOU did, now she calls me TÍA!
Oh, shut the f*** up.

Anyway, good luck to her. Her scene with Ulises impressed me.

Aribeth, "holier-than-thou"...Ha, too funny. I'm in the Bible Belt and holier-than-thou is a way of life.

But, but, but.....Alejandra is "bitchy' too!

I actually agree with you on the passive-aggressive thing. Elsa is p/a, Ale is like everyone in my family....aggresive/aggressive! No hidden meanings around my house!

*sigh*
Sorry for the typos and grammar errors.
I feel loser wibe -> loser aura
fed out -> fed up

And many others. It's late in the evening here. :)

Sandy:
But, but, but.....Alejandra is "bitchy' too!

Oh, so true, so true! :) But it's easy to handle that kind of bitchiness. Actually, I have a friend like Alejandra. One portion of arrogance, two portions of bitchiness, two of a sharp mind, two of great humor and five of a really good heart. The smooth, often unintentional arrogance of the sweet, kind Elsas make others feel like lesser creatures who cannot be right. And they are never (never!) as intelligent as they and others think they are.

And of course I'm a big hypocrite. I'm way to forgiving towards JJ and Carlos because they are hot, towards Alejandra because she's, well Alejandra, and towards Bertha because she's fun. :) And because they're are all played by interesting actors.

On Alejandra....." five of a really good heart." I completely agree....she has a HUGE heart.

On Elsa, "The smooth, often unintentional arrogance of the sweet, kind Elsas make others feel like lesser creatures who cannot be right" Honestly, Elsa's motives are selfless, and I think others, like Ulises (the best novela character ever!) and Mau are attracted to her for that reason!!!! True innocence is arrogant, you don't know that you might be totally WRONG!

Sandy, this is getting very interesting.

Completely theoretically, aside from Elsa and other characters of LVO. I appreciate innocence very much, but the fact that somebody is innocent, selfless and wants to do the best won't prevent him/her from commiting grave errors, errors that may ruin not just his/hers but others' lives, too. Won't prevent them from acting like self-righteous, pretentious jerks, either. And they are too glorified by others which may lead to problems later.
So... yeah. I dunno. I find the notion of innocence absolutely romantic and alluring, but in my opinion for a grown-up human the healthy mix of wisdom, cynism, intelligence and a little bit of honest, well-guarded innocence works better and worths more than 100% naivety.

Uhh. End of philosophy essay, let's return to LVO. :)

Ulises (the best novela character ever!)

Agreed. And I was wrong and forgot to mention Ulises in a previous post. Elsa does have one friend. Ulises wants to love everyone, including the new girl in the house, who's turned out to be nicer and better than Zaida and Eddie.

Aribeth, I am babysitting tonight with two innocents, (ha) and you need to get some sleep.

Of course, I have more to say.

Mañana

Wow! Great discussion today. Sorry the recap isn't up yet, but I've been out most of today. I like both Ale and Elsa, who are both good people at heart. I like that they are very different types of women. My girlfriends are a diverse mix of personalities too. But I found the absolute disregard for Elsa's feelings last night to be repugnant. It was such bs that they were so happy and caught up in the moment that they forgot to call her. They called Leo! And they had a whole night and the next morning! And if Ale had been so concerned about the anguish that was caused by her losing the kids as she claims, then Elsa, and putting her out of her anguish, should have been on her mind when the kids reurned. It shows me that it was nothing but guilt speaking before. And here Elsa is at home, not only thinking about Caramelo, but also about how awfully she treated Ale- even conceding that it could have happened to anybody. Regardless of how the custody situation ends up, even if they feel that Caramelo should rightfully be with them and soon will be with the upcoming wedding, they should have still thought about how Elsa would be feeling thinking Caramelo was still missing. It was inexcusable and selfish, and their reaction to her rightful anger was heartless.

Aribeth,

Thank you for giving so much coverage to the minor character, Elsa allowing so many of us to sing her praises. I do not see her as Passive Aggressive at all.
I see her as a strong focused individual who prefers a calm peaceful existence, but when push comes to shove, she'll take up the gauntlet. She will let her feelings be known. ...one example early on to JJ, "I AM NOT YOUR SISTER!" With regard to the "Tia Elsa" comment, that was a natural
reaction after terrified sleepless nights to being left out of the
loop (in the words of Ginca and Pirate Babe) by the "despicable"
BOZOS. That was the last straw.
Nevertheless, in spite of it all,
she recovered and acquiesced to the
wishes of her beloved Caramelo.

As long as there has been a philosophic discussion, one could easily apply Rousseau's concept of
the noble savage as applies to
Elsa. She is a diamond in the rough; she instinctively does the
right thing without benefit of a
formal education. One would expect
more of Ale, however, with her
more advanced socio economic situation and her advanced degree.
In the beginning of the novela,
I really liked Ale. I thought she was the best looking of all the gals. I liked her character best when she was with Don Mario.
She was an intelligent, kind, and compassionate, loving niece.
Since then, she took a huge downhill slide in my book and now
I see her as the shallow ice queen as someone once referred to her.
I like the character of Elsa, and I am enjoying the acting very much of Silvia Ramirez. I have not seen her before.

Xlntperuvian - Bravo! You took it even further. It never occurred to me that the BOZOS deliberately
failed to call Elsa. That's a whole different perspective.

And talk about confronting the issue, Elsa allowed Dante and his 2 goons into her place while she was completely alone. I was very glad that Ulises stayed nearby. You just want to reach out and hug that guy.

Floridia, I, too, was thinking not a good idea for any female, including Elsa, to be in a room with the door closed with 3 threatening men let alone gangsters. Thank goodness Ulises stayed and listened outside of the door. Ulises may be superficial, like Luigi from LFMB, but he does make a good friend to those he likes. I had my behind grabbed by my neighbor when I went into his house not knowing his wife was out of town. Now, i'm nervous to be a room by myself with a man I don't know too well.

GinCA

I'm kinda worried about Dante; that they had him show up at Elsa's seemed unnecessary unless something else was going to develop.

He could have just wanted to know what she told the cops, as he indicated.

I don't have any antipathy toward Elsa. I feel kind of sorry for her because she's half dim and half smart. Sometimes she's incisive but others not.

Usually I have plenty of patience with Elsa; but occasionally, she's the one you know you would be yelling at in a horror flick to not go down into the basement -- but of course, she does.

Boy, I sure hoped that Caramelo would stick with her new life at Elsa's and not go back to the two dopes. But time served with Asunción is on his side.

The more I think about it the better it looks dramatically to have Carlos free Juan José from the murder charge, rather than Dora or Dora's letter.

Especially if it turns out Carlos and David are brothers. Though David is adopted, he grew up being Alejandra's cousin, so it would be a nice family gesture, too.

Something like that could prejudice Leonardo or a judge in Carlos's favor, and it would make other characters happier with Carlos.

GinCA, I know it! I would have gone out into the hallway with them rather than invite them in. I'm sorry you had to deal with that jerk of a neighbor.

Thanks, Jeri. My neighbor was selling his home so I figured he thought... why not. I never told his wife as I didn't know her that well and I just waited for them to move. Thank goodness they're gone. But that was years ago.

GinCA

Alejandra, Limon and JJ didn't call Elsa because they don't like Elsa and want her out of the picture.

Caramelo just wants a family. She'd call Bertha "mommy" if Bertha were nice to her.

I think Elsa finally realized last night that JJ and everything that comes with JJ is just not worth it. It's just going to be constant strife & pain dealing wiht JJ & his crew. Better to go off with Mauricio where she can have peace, happiness and eventually a child of her own.

Thanks for the summary and pictures Vivi!

Wow! What a great discussion today. I agree with Floridia on the fact that Elsa is very relatable. I think I'm also more of an Elsa than an Ale and all my closest girl friends are also Elsa types. But I also have some friends like Ale that I like very much.

I have a friend that was simmilar to Ale in highschool, then got really crazy in University (we went to the same classes there too) and then got married and has become very calm and Elsa like. We always got along pretty well but only lately we became closer even though we aren't seeing each other every day anymore.

Jarocha

I'm hopelessly behind on recaps, but I do want to thank you Aribeth, Jeri, and Vivi for all your work.

Like Aribeth, I am a big fan of Ale since I am a big fan of the actress. I also blame the writers for not doing a better job with the Caramelo story. They should have had more time between Ale and Cara, and they should never have done the temporary Elsa living situation if they didn't intend it to be permanent. However, I always thought Limon should be able to be with Cara. I know many of you think he didn't do right by her, but at least he saved her life and raised her with love.

Also, I know the JJ bunch can be immature idiots, but to think they deliberately didn't call Elsa? I think that is a little too low. I think that was more bad writing so that the writers could have another stupid JJ and Elsa confrontation, and they thought that having everyone forget in their excitement would be a good enough excuse.

Just my 2 cents,

Pascal

Vivi, thank you for the recap! We are so grateful for having you.

By the way, I'm glad that your friend is safe now! What about her job now?

Philosophy class

Thanks for the answers!

Floridia, I like many of Rousseau's ideas, but when it comes to the natural state of men I'm afraid depressed Thomas Hobbes is right and Rousseau is the idealistic hippy. The hypothetical savage is rather ruthless with occasional compassion, like Marcos, Eddie, and Carlos at the beginning, because the stronger survives, the weaker dies. The tiny seeds of civilization (equitable rules, education for everyone, economical stability and enough food in the stomach) gives humanity the opportunity to be noble on a daily basis. In very stressful times, when stability, food and comfort are gone, compassion and social responsibility get suspended. Not by anyone, but the society itself stops being nice.

As for innocence: what does it mean? Wikipedia version

There are many answers, religious, non-religious, linguistic, legal, phylosophical, and so on. And I think everyone has an own version. In my book innocent is someone who doesn't want to do harm to others, doesn't believe others would harm him/her either, thinks the world and people are good. The pure version of innocence is for children and teenagers who aren't developed enough neither socially, nor biologically to handle the controversial, complex facts of world and humanity. The more older we are and the more knowledge we have, the more innocence we lose, that's inevitable. One doesn't have to be 100% doe-eyed innocent to be a harmless, nice philantrophist.

Most of these overly innocent adult doves will lose it one day and that's more painful than losing it slowly. They become the biggest cynics. Renato Vidal, anyone? :) I also think they can be a pain in the neck because their naivety cause too much trouble and that isn't cute.

Living without innocence isn't good either, it's rather saddening. It means complete depression and nihilism. Just because I know the world can be mean I don't have to deny the existence of good, selflessness and purity. It's good to be with innocents, especially with youngsters because they remind us of these values, they calm us down and make the world look much nicer. But it's also good to be with cynics because they remind us of the importance of being street-smart and rational. For example, it'd be great to be friends with Julieta AND Yolanda.

My favourite innocent character is Melanie Wilkes from Gone With the Wind. In LVO I prefer Gaby's over Julieta's or Elsa's. Fortunately these girls are able to learn and adapt, but at least Gaby was more suspicious at others since the first episode while Juli and especially Elsa were preys of disgusting people for a long time.

It'd be also interesting to analyse the innocence of the Televisa protagonists. Usually the women are very doe-eyed innocent at the beginning. (Except women like Rafaela.)

Many of them lose it thanks to the jerk male protagonist and become ruthless and cynical. Since they are the protagonists they don't become tragic characters, that's the side character's job. Total devastation, attempt of suicide, becoming a villano/villana, a pathetic low life or a whore. The leading leadies eventually manage to forgive the world and maintain their nice personalities. But if I know well, Vero Castro, the protagonist of Pueblo chicho, infierno grande had a more depressing storyline.

Woo, Super Bowl Sunday -- and our team is in it. It's gonna be tense; I don't know if I can stand to watch.

It'll be like when I was a kid and Dad was watching his favorite, "The Twilight Zone," and I had to stand around the corner watching through my fingers with my hands over my eyes.

Pascal, in fact, doesn't matter what happens to Caramelo. If someone thinks the Elsa character is essentially unimportant -- well, the Caramelo character is even less so.

It would be fine if they left her with Elsa and Mauricio. All the writers had to do was let her be happy there; not a stretch. Asuncion could have saved Caramelo's life without dooming her to live out of a garbage can.

And in the story they are eventually going to give the child to a couple of good standing -- who happen to let him hang around. It's Juan José -- not human services -- who would be letting Caramelo and Asunción live together.

Many lovely photos of Gabe Soto from El fuerza del destino:

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I'm not a football fan, but I do enjoy Super Bowl Parties. :)

Jeri- There are so many ways that the writers could have resolved this situation happily, that it seems to me that they didn't want to. They could have found many lazy ways to end it happily-- Limon takes his studies seriously and earns the right to adopt Caramelo himself; Cara chooses to stay with Elsa and Mau; Elsa asks Limon to live with her, etc. The easiest of all would have been: The gang call Elsa the night the kids return. Elsa happily rushes over. She and Ale appologize to each other (not a stretch since Elsa was just expressing her regret at how she treated Ale). Everyone is happy, hugging, loving, forgiving. Cara then truthfully tells Elsa that she really does not want to be separated from Limon again (understandably feeling after the kidnapping), and that she wants to live with him. All the adults look at each other with sadness and understanding. Elsa, Ale and JJ have a real adult moment when Elsa (just like she did in the actual scene) gives Cara her blessing to stay and JJ and Ale (who reveal they are getting married) her blessing to adopt Cara. She leaves sadly, but without bitterness. After she leaves, JJ, Ale and gang acknowledge what a good person Elsa is, how lucky they all are, and then everyone continues the celebration of the kids being back. Basically the same result, but with less pain and bitternes, and everyone looking like a good/caring human being. It would not have been hard. The writers chose to have JJ, Ale and gang look like insensitive jerks.

Vivi, I know; such a surprise. Suddenly after all this time enjoying the show, I despise practically everybody. ;-) Just kidding.

Well, not such a surprise, maybe; I always reach a point in a novela where I am burnt out on it, even when I'm not recapping.

I get fed up being a slave to a show every freaking night for months. I just want to do something else, for pete's sake. So I lose patience.

I lasted longer than most with this one, for sure. And it's not got that long to go. Still good, despite all the baloney.

I have read the comments on Asuncion and have to put my two cents in. I have famliy in Central America and I can tell you a large percentage of the population in third world countries live the way he and Caramelo lived. They live in slums or the city dump in homes made from what they find. No running water or electricity. The children are out on the streets begging or selling what ever they can almost as soon as they can talk. Their meals depend on how much money they are able to make that day.
You have generation after generation who are uneducated because schools are not free. You have to pay registration, monthly tuition, uniforms, school supplies and textbooks. Nothing is supplied to you. Medical isn't free either. I have family who are middle class but can't always afford to see a doctor much less buy the medications.
Someone once posted that Asuncion should have taken Caramelo to the police when he first found her. The police can't be trusted either. You are just as likely to be robbed by one of them as you are by the local thugs. They could have accussed him of kidnapping and thrown him in jail and he'd still be sitting there.
Asuncion did what he thought was best. He has never harmed the child in any way and has always put her first. She went where he went. She helped him out when they worked but again that is the way it is for a majority of poor families in these countries. If she is the loving, caring person that she is it's because of him.
About Ale and Elsa. After the way Elas treated her Ale was not going to spare her a second thought, right or wrong. Also, Elsa was the one who was hostile when she entered the house and was greeted that way in return. She was told from the begining that the adoption was temporary, until JJ could clear his name, but she decided she wanted it to be permanent and has acted accordingly. I find it hard to feel sorry for her. Also, she knows she doesn't love Mauricio so why lead him on, she uses him when she needs him and I don't find that so honorable. Just needed to get that off my chest.

Anon- Elsa acknowldged and appologized to Mau for using him in the past. She genuinely seems to be into him now. She's the first to admit she's not perfect. Her anger at not being told the children had been found was perfectly justified. I would have been hella mad too. Can you imagine?

Anon 12:14 I want to thank you for your post and for the very personal experiences that you bring to the table. As you might know, child services in the US, while much better than that of third world countries, can at times leave much to be desired, so I can understand anyone’s hesitation to give a child into government care. It is the law, so there is little choice here. I think that you make very good points about Asuncion, the proof is in the pudding, Cara is a honest, healthy and GOOD little girl with values. I do differ a bit in the Elsa/Ale thing. There are certain times when all previous, and in this case really silly and minor, harbored hurts should be abandoned, and that is when a kidnapped child is found. If JJ and crew felt awkward in calling Elsa themselves, Leo could have done it for them. I’m giving Elsa a free pass on her angry reaction to the snub, I might have done the same. In fact, like an elephant, I’d never forget that that they let me go an entire night and into the morning worrying as Elsa did!

I hope you come back and post with us, we’d love to have your viewpoint on other things!

Jeri, the good thing about LVO is that just when we could be getting tired of the entire scenario, they give us Edgar and Suzanna, they’ll be interesting! I still find Yolanda interesting as well. I think you’re right though, the fact that the program is on every night makes it tedious.

Jeri:
Yeah... As you know, I still love the show, except the letter, Elsa and the Jerk José scenes. It has so many wonderful storylines and it makes the brain work. However, it'll be a relief when it's over. I'm not playing the martyr, or looking for applause, I'm well rewarded with great conversations and quickly developing language skills. We (commenters and recappers) can be very proud of ourselves for keeping together for five months despite the timeslot and circumstances. But my lazy ass really wants more free time! :)

I get fed up being a slave to a show every freaking night for months

That's why I watch telenovelas in fastforward mode. Even LVO. I read the recaps and watch the most interesting scenes. When I make screencaps I see everything anyways.

Welcome, Anon, and thanks for the interesting input!
I think JJ & co. should've called Elsa, she was the legal guard and she suffered, too. It is true that Elsita always treated Ale like a homewrecking whore, but again, they should've called her.

Vivi thanks for the recap. I liked the contrast b/t Susana and Edgar. I also really liked your scenario of what could have happened b/t the main characters instead of what went down. Unfortunately I do think the writers wanted another JJ/Elsa blow out and that's why things were written that way.

It will be very interesting to see Edgar and Yolanda's next moves. I believe Edgar said he killed in the past but was he more professional? Sometimes he seems calculating in a way that is more assassin than complete psycho.

And Yolanda...now that she knows Adolfo tried to kill her I hope she turns on him.

Aribeth, thanks for your recap and your thoughts on the characters.

Thank you Vivi for the fantastic recap.

Thank you Jeri for the links.

Okay people, now I am going to rant. I absolutely hate it when something gets rammed down my throat even though it doesn't make any sense. IMO, the writers did a big boo boo with this whole custody issue. If they wanted Caramelo to end up with JJ and Ale then they should have done a better job developing JJ and Ale's characters, and therefore, viewerville would have been happy to see Caramelo end up with JJ. Better yet, they should never have introduced this side plot.

Why does JJ think he and Ale are the better people. What more of a connection does have with Caramelo that Elsa doesn't have. The only thing going for him is that Limon is living with him and Caramelo wants to be with Limon. Of course one other reason is that JJ and Ale are one of the main protag couples and their pictures are in the opening credits so they had to get Caramelo, she comes with the territory.

JJ and Ale present as selfish and heartless. Neither, JJ or Ale or Limon thought to ring Elsa to give her the good news. That was despicable. I really want someone to kick JJ in his private parts. Can't stand him. I was expecting him to stick out his tongue at Elsa to show her that he won the battle over Caramelo, and what is this thing that he has about Mauricio, I still don't get it. He was a better person before he found the loot and become rich. I really liked him then. JJ is just a big dumb galoot. All brawn but no brains and totally selfish to boot. He just doesn't make sense to me.

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest, lol. Feel much better now, lol.

Margaret

I forgot to mention that I really loved reading everyone's comments.

Great commeents.

Very interesting discussion.

Anon- Forgive my manners. I did mean to welcome you to the group of commenters. Please comment often! Don't take my disagreeement as a put off. I think we all love it when others have different points of view because it makes us think and sometimes it sways us to change our mind. I am still in angry mode over the whole not calling Elsa thing though. :) The entire time I was watching from the first scene, I was saying out loud, "call Elsa". And every scene that they didn't I got more angry. I was yelling at them right along with Elsa. LOL!

Aribeth and Jeri- You two have really taken on a lot. I do not envy two nights a week of recapping. I remember how difficult it was when I was recapping for both and LVO at the beginning. Thank you both for making such a huge commitment each week and for doing it so well!

Vivi, I thank you for your recaps and help. You joined us when we were about to create "only discussion Wednesdays" or "one sentence/scene" summaries.

Dear Anonymous at 12:14:00 PM, thanks for your input. I think probably we all know how things are in the real world.

However, they are not playing it that way in the telenovela, are they. It's their world, and we're living in it.

Asunción is the only person in the show portrayed as a bum. The moment someone discovers a child living like that, they bathe her and clothe her, feed her properly and send her to school.

They have a social worker come to the house and tell Asunción he's not a fit parent.

So, going by the logic of the universe of the show, they want us to think that Asunción has done something wrong. That's where I'm at.

P.S. As far as I know, Mexico does indeed have a certain level of national free public medical care -- unlike the U.S.

Just decided to look it up to make sure I was correct:

"...Public health care delivery is accomplished via an elaborate provisioning and delivery system instituted by the Mexican Federal Government. Public health care is provided to all Mexican citizens as guaranteed via Article 4 of the Constitution. Public care is either fully or partially subsidized by the federal government, depending on the person's (Spanish: derechohabiente's) employment status. All Mexican citizens are eligible for subsidized health care regardless of their work status via a system of health care facilities operating under the federal Secretariat of Health (formerly the Secretaria de Salubridad y Asistencia, or SSA) agency..."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Mexico#Public_health_care_delivery

Vivi, I was shouting the same thing the entire time they all celebrated the children's return, "Call Elsa."

Even if they had their own personal disagreements with her, that was still insensitive to disregard her feelings when we all saw how she cried over the missing children and her regret over the non existent romance with JJ and her jealousy over Alex.

When Caramelo told Elsa she wanted to stay with her tio, I thought JJ was going to stick out his tongue and go, "na na nanna na."

The writer's messed up with this whole custody sub plot because I'm really not liking JJ, Alex, or Limon at this point.

Vivi, enjoyed your detailed recap - even though your pitchperfect account of the Elsa-JJ household argument had me Grrrh! all over again.

Ale and JJ have been my favorite couple. The marriage proposal in the restaurant is one of my favorite scenes. But JJ's treatment of Elsa really burns. Elsa has always supported him and he didn't seem to think about her feelings at all. Ale can be cool but warms up (as she has with Gabi and Fausto). Ale looked very uncomfortable and seemed to have empathy for Elsa when Mina told Elsa in her tirade that JJ and Ale were going to be married. That JJ, Limon, and Ale (that's my order of culpability) didn't call Elsa is just unbelievable. This bugs me so much it's taken the edge off my excitement about my favorite couple getting married. Bummer.

Wonderful recap Vivi.

Loved reading all the comments.

Everyone believes JJ/Ale will marry and adopt Cara. This will be the only TV novela that has left me very disappointed. The writers sure spoiled things.

Ann-NYC

Thanks so much for the detailed recap Vivi! We all really appreciate the hard work that you, Jeri and Aribeth put into your recaps. You guys are the best!

Anonymous at 12:14: Welcome and thanks for the input! Please come back and comment again, I love reading everyone's input. That said, I appreciate the Limon did save Caramelo's life and take care of her as long as he did. I think that's very commendable - however, now that he is a very rich man he needs to make something of himself. He has the time and the money to do anything, it just seems he hasn't the ambition and I think that's very sad. While he has been a caregiver to Caramelo, I think he needs to go beyond that now and become a real role model. And he can't do that sitting on his butt.

Vivi, thanks for the wonderful recap, I loved every minute of it. I actually thought that Ulises was calling Elsa a bonbon, calling Mau one was even funnier! A few more of my favorites, “Pretty Eddy, who isn’t looking so pretty at the moment,” “Either Eddie will get the same private medical care as Felix, or he’ll be joining Garnica on that “aquatics team.” “At JJ’s it seems that the phone actually works,” “Chicles chooses the wrong moment to start a 100% honesty policy.” Thanks Vivi, you know that we really appreciate your work and the work of our other two recappers, Aribeth and Jeri! We can’t thank you enough......

Aribeth, I so enjoyed our conversation of yesterday and we have a point of complete agreement.....like you, Melanie Wilkes from GWTW is my favorite “innocent” character, I wish I were more like her. Your points on the advisability of innocence in the real world were well reasoned and so true.

We aren’t at the end of the novela yet, and a lot can change, but if a preponderance of the reasonable people here at the LVO blog are completely annoyed with one of the two starring galans, it must be bad writing!!!!!

Jeri, does your hubby have his cheesehead hat on?

Sandy, no, LOL, but I'm taking refuge in here, because the game is making me a nervous wreck already -- and it just started!

Thank you so much, Vivi, for your very detailed recap which clarified many of the conversations for me, especially... the Elsa/Mau vs all the idiots conversation over Caramelo and the Leo forcefully intimidating and harassing Adolfo conversation.

I, too, am ticked off that after 99 episodes they give us a particularly stupid culminating scene all based on something that makes no sense...J J's hateful attitude toward Elsa and Mau. They both helped him for goodness sake and Mau saved his a** from prison. And he doesn't love Elsa so he shouldn't be jealous of Mau. This unfounded animosity continues until these last episodes where everyone is drawn into this madness. And in the end, as stated, what does this accomplish because J J is still an ex-con with or without Ale as his wife and Asuncion doesn't qualify as a fit guardian for Caramelo. (Unless, Social Services thinks wife Ale makes a difference.) As stated, J J and Ale are supposed to be the other lead pair and I don't think I should be disliking them so much. So to the writers...a SUPER BIG RASPBERRY for disappointing me with this part of the plot.

However, maybe J J will have moment of lucidity and realize what a dope he's been and apologize. Can they leave the story with J J and Elsa as enemies and the audience (me) disliking J J so much?

Anyway, reawakened Susana, mangled Eddie and nervous Adolfo, hopefully, will allow us a diversion from J J and Elsa. What is to become of Yolanda?

GinCA Welcome Anon!

Art Imitating Life? or vice versa?

Re: the Super Bowl, I am a disgruntled Patriots fan leaning toward Green Bay. I was just channel surfing to watch a little of the game and caught the end of The Great Awakening which had a segment on FALSELY accused prisoners who had recently been released. One of the male prisoners had read 831 books while he was incarcerated. His FAVORITE book? You, guessed it, THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO ! I thought it to be an unbelievably amusing tie in to our beloved novela.

Vivi, I just read the recap.
I love it in every detail; it was fabulous! Below are my favorite
lines:

(Either Eddie will get the same private medical care as Felix, or he’ll be joining Garnica on that “aquatics team.”)

At JJ’s it seems that the phone actually works,

Your recapper is too angry at our two otherwise lovable protagonists to share in their joy ...
___________________________________

One of my favorite lines in the story was when Leo advised Adolfo
not to worry if he didn't have enough time to read all of the newspapers; he would soon be having plenty of time in prison to read all the papers he wanted. Perhaps he'll choose to read "The Count of Monte Cristo" as well.

Translation/spelling? needed.

I am trying to figure out what
Caramelo asked Limón right after Elsa left. It sounded like
¿La regué? All I can figure out
is if she asked Limón if she made Elsa cry? Please assist.

I liked it when caring (albeit adventure loving)Don Fausto looked very much aghast when unbelievably cruel JJ told Elsa that she was the mother of no one.

I do enjoy getting to read everyone's point of view (when I can keep up with the comments!) I do want to make it clear that I agree that they should have called Elsa, and that JJ was being a jerk when she and Mau came. I would have much preferred Vivi's version of events.

What I disagree with is that the writers intended for the characters to deliberately not call Elsa. Even if they wanted JJ and company to snub Elsa, why would they not have smart cop Leo call Elsa, Cara's legal guardian? I think because they didn't want Elsa to find out until the next day so they could have the stupid fight. I'm mad at the writers, not the characters.

He, he -- we won! :D It was a nail biter.

Lookit this headline, LOL. It's big enough you can probably read it from wherever you are without going to the website, but here's the URL anyway:

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/

Another thing ...I think the makeup artists do a great job -
especially with the brutally beaten
Edgar. I could almost feel his pain.

For Caramelo, I think her choice
is easily explained. She wants to be wherever the ACTION is.

Again, Aribeth, Jeri, and Vivi, I appreciate the work of all
the RECAPPERS. It is a big commitment, and you've all been fabulous in keeping us informed and in leading and moderating our
dynamic discussions. Do you monitor other forums? How do our discussions compare? How many other novelas have you recapped?
Will you do another one soon?

Many thanks.

Wow, from the Caray, Caray running recap section commentormeter, there have been 66 comments so far for LVO. So I guess this episodes ignited some passion. Thanks to our recappers who make all this possible.

GinCA

Floridia- Yes, Caramelo asked if Elsa was crying. The verb regar means to sprinkle, irrigate, water, but can also have the meaning of weeping. So our little one was sensitive to Elsa's feelings, but of course the adults in the room just brushed it away.

Congrats on your Super Bowl win Jeri! :)

Great conversation on this line this weekend! Glad I wasn't the only one riled up by this episode. Comments are so heated, in fact, that I can't believe the writers at the time didn't realize how people would react. They must have. Which leads me to believe they did it on purpose. I just don't know why.

And Floridia- This is only my second recapping experience; Dinero was my first. I guest recapped on Sorti once. I'm not on any other forums. I'm not sure how folks like Aribeth keep up with the multiple forums they're on. One is enough for me! :)

Fantastc recap Vivi, I loved your list of woes for Elsa.

About regarla. This is Mexican slang for "messing up".

Anon. First of all welcome to the line. About the slums, the percentage of people living in slums in Mexico is at 14%. Considering we have around 112 million habitants that's alot but it is actually one of the smaller percentages in Latin America, the third one to be exact after Chile and Costa Rica.

Unfortunately the situation in Central America (except Costa Rica) is still extremely precarious, along with Bolivia and Paraguay they are the poorest and least developed Spanish speaking countries in the Americas. Mexico is between the most developed and the distance in terms of human development between those nations and mine is about the same as the distance between México and the US.

Fortunately we do have free medical care and we also have public schools where tuition is around 1000 pesos a year (think around 84 dollars) for elementary and middle school. High Schools and Universities have around the same prices or a little higher (though not by much) per semester. Books are also free and provided by the government from elementary school to high school. And public universities are pretty well regarded, as an example the UNAM, funded in 1551, is the highest ranked University in Latin America and it is public and pretty cheap. The only downside for public universities is the fact that you litterally have to compete with thounsends to get in sometimes.

Another things we have are called INFONAVIT or FOVISTE which are government programs designed to secure housing for the population, especially those with lower incomes. Even if you work as a janitor, being active worker for four years you will probably be able to acquire a mortgage credit and you'll receive a house, maybe a very small one but yours none the less. Then the government will take 5% of your paycheck for the next 30 years, even if you change jobs (unless you finish paying before for some reason). More on INFONAVIT.

The issue with poverty is not as much a lack of social programs (the one we don't have is the state support for the unemployed though) but making these programs available to the poor. Especially when it comes to rural areas in certain parts of "provincia" and, above all, in the rural areas of States with a large indigenous population.

What I meant to say with all this is that there are ways for Limón to have gotten help to get out of his situation. He was living in México City, not in a rural community in Chiapas. He just didn't realize he could do it, he didn't know how and he saw no other way to live. I don't begrudge that but I think Caramelo would have standed a better chance had she been given to the authorities when she was a baby, when she had better chaces to be adopted. Sure, if she hadn't been adopted then she probably wouldn't be able to aspire to a better life than being a maid, a street vendor or a store clerk (and I'm not blind to the fact that some kids do escape and go back to the streets). But I also don't believe that a life on the streets without any kind of education and no other choice was a better option. He got lucky he met Juan José because Caramelo's life would have turned out quite different, especially once she'd hit her teens.

Jarocha

Gah, sorry for all the mistakes. It's late and I'm kind of sleepy.

Jarocha

Sandy, I enjoyed our conversation, too. Yes, Melly Wilkes is an angel. :)

Floridia, this is the first show I ever recapped. I don't think I'll do it again soon, the evening shows have enough recappers and the only telenovela I'm really interested in is Para volver a amar - which most likely will never arrive at Uni.

Aribeth, I posted a comment for your marvelous recap of Thursday's episode.

Vivi, your picture were wonderful! And, your title was simply inspired.

This was marvelous. I had to narrow down my favorite lines so I kept what was in your mini summary: "battered, bruised and broken", "Edgar and Caramelo gives Yolanda a promotion to Tia, and demotes Elsa to Tia" and "newly solidified family".

72 comments! This shows how this terrific telenova has captured and captivated us.

So many wonderful comments, I can only add that teaming up Edgar and Susana was genius. Who else but these writers could turn what should have been a joyous reunion into a bittersweet, sad moment.

I like Elsa. But, no matter how one feels, her not being told of the children's return was cruel beyond belief. I think it's even worse that it wasn't deliberately done - it was that she wasn't even a thought. To me, this was one of the saddest moments of this story. Yes, she held onto her crush on JJ too long, she certainly made errors. But, JJ has been reprehensible to Elsa. She did nothing but support him during his incarceration and as noted, he appears he won't even give her the time of day.

Right or wrong, I understand Caramelo's love for Limon - he is all she has ever known and her heart is reserved for him.

Well done Vivi. Very well done.

Diana

Thanks ladies.

Many thanks Jarocha for the background info on Mexico's social services, and for the slang word regarla. I only found the irrigate/weep meaning. That's why we need you to drop in here from time to time! Gracias amiga.

Jarocha- I shudder to think what an illiterate/homeless/teenaged Caramelo would have been forced to do to survive on the streets. It was divine intervention that JJ (and company) came into their lives when they did. It really comes down to what Cara and Limon want. Cara wants to be with Limon/Limon wants to be with Cara. So Cara will happily accept whoever comes in the package with Limon; and Limon will happily embrace whoever will let him stay with Cara (JJ and Ale).

I'm anxious to see how our guapo Edgar handles the situation with Susana. Will he be honorable when those 20 karat diamonds are part of the equation?

I'm just throwing this out, I'm wondering if part of the situation of this novels is that EY is over acting or over interpreting his role. Irritation directed at Elsa or even maybe Mau is understandable, but his taking it to such a high school level looks ridiculous. It is like someone said yesterday, he is all but saying na na na na na! "Gabi" said in the interview that Arabeth posted said that EY was all over the place, in front of the camera and behind the camera during the shooting. He has literally mugged through many of the scenes. I do think Aribeth's thoughts about combining two novels is part of the problem.  Even with all this, LVO has been outstanding, I'm really glad I took the trouble to watch.

Vivi and Jarocha (if you are still
looking at this segment)..

I, like Vivi, had checked in the dictionary with regard to regar, and I saw that the last definition
had to do with tears, but the
grammatical construction did not
seem right. So, is it written
like this,"¿La regué? and would the translation be, "Did I mess her up?" I'm trying to figure out
if the "la" is used as it normally
is as a direct object. Thanks;
I'm trying to learn.

Jarocha, thanks for the info on
Mexico; I will read it in detail
later.

Jeri, thanks for the info on health care too.

Diana, yes the complete disregard
for Elsa was very sad and intensely disappointing.

Floridia- I believe "la" in this case is "it", not her. So Cara was asking if she "messed it up".

I was thinking, JJ and Ale will be getting married 'tomorrow'. Will Elsa be invited since she is supposed to be a friend of JJ, or will they 'forget' to invite her to that as well.

I am also wanting to see what happens with Susana and Edgar now that she has revealed the diamonds. What will happen to Zaida. Is she still at the hideout.

Margaret

Sandy:
The big guy loves to overact, and his size and voice adds something sinister to the big picture, but the director tells the actors what to do.

Margaret:
Will Elsa be invited since she is supposed to be a friend of JJ, or will they 'forget' to invite her to that as well.

She wasn't just a friend, she was infatuated with JJ and she hated Alejandra. If they invited her to the wedding everyone would say they were hypocrites who wanted to mock her and show her how happy they were together... and with Caramelo.

Good morning; sorry I'm late. :-) I was writing our thingy for tonight. This show is still awesome! I think you will like the episode.

Jarocha, thanks a million for your informative posts; I always like to hear how it is.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of "Man on Fire," if you've seen it. It seemed depressing to me; I wondered if it was a skewed view.

Somebody was asking about recapping. I've done a few hundred, I think. I started back in 1998 with "Luz Maria" and have done them intermittently.

I recapped 100 or so episodes of Destilando Amor and some others at Telenovela World. The first time I recapped here was on CS.

I view recapping as a good class I give myself. So, it's really for me, although I am glad someone else can use them. :-) Someone wrote them for me back years ago for my first novelas, which I appreciated.

Lastly to go off xlnt's post in regarding to Asunción now being wealthy, I would just like to say about Asunción that if he had just taken the time and effort to be functionally literate, he could have avoided all this storyline that hurt so many people.

It's hard for me to forgive him, as you can see. How can he truly care so much about Caramelo and sit on his #$%$ instead of making sure he can keep her. I just can't stand that.

Even if he tries it now, the damage is done. The old gas bag is dead to me. ;-)

Aribeth, the infatuation was on Elsa's part only, and I don't think she hates Ale. Elsa was just envious and a bit resentful that Ale finally won JJ.

Elsa was their for JJ when he was in jail, visiting him and also trying in her own way to help him get out of jail. She also looked after his mother while he was in jail. I would think that would include her as part of his 'family', not as an ex-girlfriend.

Margaret

Jeri:
This show is still awesome! I think you will like the episode.

I want to recap the next episode (101) in time for a change, so I watched it at the weekend - ITA, the show will get awesome again! :) I just had to survive the custody-kidnapping storylines.

Margaret:
This is a lose/lose situation. If they don't invite her - some will think they are insensitive. If they invite her - some (including me) will think they are insensitive.
Juan José definitely has to atone for his behaviour and be nice with Elsa again, but imho he shouldn't invite her to his wedding. I'm sure Elsa would think they just want to hurt her. After those horrible quarrels that happened only a few days ago I would think that, too. The wounds (Caramelo and Elsa's hopefully dying love for JJ) are too fresh.

Asuncion just expects others to take care of 'matters' for him while he just sits back and cries about the injustice of it all. He is incapable of getting up of his a@# and doing something constructive himself.

Margaret

Aribeth, maybe Elsa should be the one to make the choice about whether she could bear to watch JJ get married or not, but it would be her choice whether to attend or not.

By not telling her about Caramelo's safe return and then not to invite her to the wedding, would just send the message to Elsa that she is an outsider, not important in this new family, like she never existed and didn't contribute anything. She has been erased.

Margaret

Vivi: You are right about "la". I want to explain things better but sometimes the little things like articles and why certain genre is used is so common to me that I forget it might be confusing for someone who's not a native speaker.

Jeri: I think Asunción was just unaware that he needed to educate himself a little to keep Caramelo. He probably thought all their problems were gone after they became rich.

One good way for JJ to come off good inviting Elsa would be if he used a nice tone, apologized for the way things have gone through with them and said he wanted that to stop. Then he could say he is getting married to Alejandra and that she is welcomed to go but he would understand if she decided not to. Then the ball would be on Elsa and she'd be the one to decide if she wants to be a part of their new family or not.

Of course it's too soon for JJ to calm down and maybe he just doesn't want Elsa to be part of the family anymore. She was a great friend but they have fallen farther and farther apart as the show goes on. I'm not sure Elsa would want to be close to them either, the only thing that keeps her there is her relationship with Caramelo (wich I have enjoyed and consider important, even if she doesn't keep her).

Jarocha

Asunción became homeless when he was a child. He grew up on the streets, and rarely had the chance to have a job, to stand up for himself and do something constructive. It's natural that after so many horrible decades he was very happy to have a calm and really lazy life for a change. He should've started to learn how to read - not for Caramelo but for himself, but he was a millionaire only for a few months.
Probably he would've never thought that one day a social worker would show up at their house. They bought false papers for Caramelo and since both Asunción, both JJ have been out of the social loop they thought the situation was solved.
Alejandra and Elsa are intelligent girls and they supposed to know how the social services work. But they didn't think about that option, and didn't warn neither JJ, nor Asunción. Everyone thought that everything will be fine.

***

Wedding: as I said, it's a lose/lose. Elsa and JJ are like a divorced couple who cared for each other very much. If I knew my "ex" still had feelings for me (and she did have a few weeks ago), I knew he didn't like my fiancé, and we just had a very ugly quarrel, I wouldn't call him next day to invite him to my wedding. Where he should act like as if everything was fine. I would be a big fat hypocrite.

"Hi, it's Aribeth. Look, I know I treated you very badly and I'm a huge idiot. I want to apologize for my behaviour and guess what, I'd like to invite you to my wedding with Alejandro. You know, the guy you can't stand. We're getting married because we love each other and because we want to adopt Caramelo as soon as possible. Yeah, you wanted to adopt her, too, and this wedding means we do everything to take her away from you, but hey, we are a big, happy family and you should be part of it. Bye!"

If I wanted to apologize and reconcile with him, first I would ask him to meet and have a long conversation. :)

Jarocha:
Of course it's too soon for JJ to calm down and maybe he just doesn't want Elsa to be part of the family anymore. She was a great friend but they have fallen farther and farther apart as the show goes on. I'm not sure Elsa would want to be close to them either

By the way, why should JJ want Elsa to be part of his close family again? Elsa never wanted to be just a family member, she wanted to be his wife. He didn't want a wife before, he wanted an obedient siser. When she realized he would never be her boyfriend, she decided to distance herself from that unhealthy situation. "I'm not your sister and now I let you go." And they barely met for a long time.

Yes, I know he treated her badly and he owes her much. And? That doesn't mean they have to play a happy family again. He should somehow repay the debt and they could be friends. Distant friends. One doesn't have to invite distant friends to a small wedding.

Jarocha, don't know if you missed this, but Asunción has known for a while that he was deemed unfit due to lack of education.

He told Elsa he wanted to learn how to read and get Caramelo back.

And he has done absolutely zip since then, exactly like he did before.

He doesn't seem to care how much hardship his behavior is causing his friends and Caramelo.

Jeri:
And he has done absolutely zip since then, exactly like he did before.

That's true, since Elsa's adoptation he hasn't done anything.

Loved everybody's comments

However, if I were Elsa I would want to have nothing to do with JJ and his crew and would not even consider going to their wedding. But I would be sure to let Carmelo know my door would always be open to her and would welcome her with open arms.

But,then, that's me....

Ann-NYC

Jarocha and Vivi,
Okay; I get it now. Thank you both. Yesterday I was visiting a friend who had another friend there
who is a native of Cuba who has lived in the US for many years.
We had a great conversation in Spanish. I was thrilled and also surprised that I did that well.
Listening to Univision has helped
me tremendously, and LVO deserves
a great deal of credit. Me gusta mucho español. Looking forward to
this evening's episode.

I am wondering about a waiting period in Mexico after obtaining a marriage license. In Florida, it is 3 days. For example, if you obtain a license by Friday at
5PM, the close of the business day,
the earliest you may marry would be at 12:01 Sunday evening/Monday morning.

Saw an ad on Uni for Corazon Salavje (The Midnight Version.) I guess it just came out this month and am interested to see how they condensed this novela. Renato certainly can't take a half an hour to slowly die in this version.

GinCA

There is a wonderful song by Garth Brooks, "Unanswered Prayers" that is appropriate for Elsa.  Basically is says that sometimes the thing that we "pray" for the most is basically what we really didn't want. Not sure why the URL is so long!
