La Verdad Oculta EP101 02/08/2011 – The Grinch stole the wedding, Elsa’s freedom and Carlos’s girlfriend

* Shocked Adolfo smiles at Édgar and admits the Psycho Boy did a good job. Now please tell him, what does he want for the informations he knows? Édgar wants fake documents and money to leave the country for good and all. Okay, but first he has to obey Adolfo’s orders.

* At dinner the enthusiastic members of the Victoria household are talking about the upcoming wedding. At first humble Lucha doesn’t want to attend it since she doesn’t have elegant dresses and they all know what Chicles is like, but Juan José manages to persuade her.

* Julieta, Leonardo and Fausto spend the evening together, and daddy is very happy that his little girl and the super cop reconciled at last. In the middle of the conversation they get a phone call from Gaby who’d like to know if they are going to attend JJ’s and Ale’s wedding. As usual, Fausto doesn’t want to leave his precious flat, he says he needs to relax. Julieta accepts his decision but she makes him promise that he will attend her wedding.

*After a long day’s shopping, Alejandra and Abelardo have a nice conversation about the wedding, Juli and Leo, and Abelardo, who knows everything about the people who ever set foot in the Casa Genovés. Then she calls Bertha who’s very happy to hear her voice again. Has Ale forgiven her yet? Not yet. But Bertha misses her! So does Alejandra, that’s why she called her. She’s going to get married next day, and would like her to attend the wedding. Bertha is glad for them but she doesn’t dare meet Mario, David, Gaby and Juan José again… No, it’s better not to attend it.

* At Sagitario Carlos gets a phone call from Juanita who asks him about Yolanda. No, unfortunately he doesn’t know anything about her either. Anyway, thank you. Bye. One and a half second later he gets another phone call – from Yolanda! She’s in her flat and she wanted him to know that she’s well. Carlos tells her Juanita called him and Yolanda gets excited. Juanita has a few things that belong to her, she needs to meet her!

* Next morning everybody is preparing for the wedding in the lovely garden of the casa Genovés. Juan José introduces everyone to everyone, Chicles is making trouble (as usual), Lucha is trying to discipline him (as usual), David is calming JJ’s nerves down in the garden, and Gabriela is calming Alejandra’s nerves down in her bedroom. David meets the famous Caramelo, and immediately falls in love with the little girl, who promotes him to tío and tells him that he’s very handsome. *Viewerville: David, it’s high time to become a daddy*

Everyone is ready, let the wedding begin! The utterly anxious and happy couple manage to get married without too many accidents (dropping the pen a few times doesn’t count). The music is beautiful, the newlyweds and their friends are celebrating and almost everything is perfect… Until an uninvited guest shows up. Adolfo came to talk with David, who, que sorpresa, can walk again! It’s a miracle! And the dead man is alive and he has just got married! These are truly wonderful news. The spiteful and victorious Grinch humiliates and insults everybody, makes Juan José and David rage and destroys the decoration, and then he finally leaves.

* In his car the Grinch purrs like a content cat after eating the canary, and calls his good old friend Déborah to ask her for a favor. In the Genovés study the outraged men try to find out how to defend themselves from Adolfo and how to defeat him. Leo mentions the precious cuff-links/ rings and tells the boys that Carlos gave David a real one. That’s impossible, says Fausto, Adolfo swore he had two real ones! Then it means there are three trefoil rings: two real and one fake and most likely Dolphie has no idea that Carlos had a real one. The question is who changed them? No, it couldn’t be Carlos, it must’ve been someone else who’s very close to Adolfo. Ramón calls Leo to report about an anonymous call from the United States which informed them of the whereabouts of a few smuggled diamonds. They are hidden in a fishbowl… in Elsa Rivera’s flat. That girl again?! Leo tells the guys Elsa’s in trouble again then he leaves.

*The fishbowl’s lonely inhabitant reproachfully looks at Viewerville, he doesn’t like the shiny new things in his home. But unfortunately it isn’t Elsa who finds the diamonds first, but the bunch of confident cops who immediately arrest her again. The devastated girl swears she’s innocent and begs Ulises to call Mauricio as soon as possible.

* At home Adolfo calls nervous wreck Zaida for Juan José’s phone number and promises to give her shelter at the seaside villa. In the meantime worried Ulises calls Mau to tell him what happened to poor Elsa. He’s sure she was framed and… He notices that the keys for her flat are missing, and puts two and two together. It was Édgar!

* Adolfo’s evil master plan enters stage two: he calls Juan José and politely tells him he wants to negotiate. There’s a letter in JJ’s house hidden behind a mirror. If he gives Adolfo the letter he’ll set imprisoned Elsa free. Oh yes, she’s accused with smuggling again and she’ll spend 15 years in jail if JJ doesn’t obey Adolfo.

* At the special department of the police Ulises, Mau and his lawyer try to convince a very serious and strict cop that Elsa is innocent, she was framed by Édgar, who stole the keys last night and put the diamonds into the fishbowl. However, the cop isn’t impressed with Ulises’s story and he thinks maybe he made up everything to help Elsa. Maybe he’s her accomplice!

*At AFI Ramón tells Leo he investigated after the van Roberto drove the night he murdered Mario Genovés, and it was Marcos Rivera’s. Duracell Bunny is so content with Ramón’s work that he wholeheartedly congratulates him. That was the best investigation at AFI and Leo will recommend Ramón’s promotion! *Try to remember these sweet moments, Ramón, when you’re woken up in the middle of the night or when your lunch is interrupted by Duracell Leo.* By the way, boss, Juan José Victoria wants to talk with you. The big guy tells Leo about Adolfo’s call and proposition. The Grinch obviously doesn’t know about the mattress, he thinks the letter is still in JJ’s house. This proves that Elsa has been framed, says Leo, and Adolfo took advantage of her situation. Qué? Her brother is a smuggler and she hide him once. Yes, says JJ, she helped him because he’s her brother and he saved her from being raped, but she hasn’t done anything else. That’s interesting, says Leo, but this information can’t help Elsa, she’s the suspect of a very serious crime. The pumpkin on JJ’s neck starts to fume.

* In their bedroom Gaby tells David what Mario told her about his relationship with Marta and she keeps worrying about Adolfo and the business meetings she’ll have to attend in the future. But don’t worry, David will return to his office where they could work together. Gaby loves the idea. A horny married couple together behind the closed doors of an office… That sounds great. Sexy sax time again. In the neighbouring house Alejandra’s head is about to explode: she hates Adolfo Ávila! JJ cheers her up and tells her they are going to have a special wedding night in their hotel.

* Adolfo calls Bertha to apologize for his ugly behaviour and to invite her for dinner. He misses her much, he wants to give her the bills of her car and they keys for her apartment, he’d like to make her the happiest woman on Earth, blahblahblah. For five seconds Bertha’s brain works and she says she’s afraid of him but Adolfo swears he would never her hurt again. All right, all right, let’s meet. An hour later in a restaurant Adolfo tries to convince skeptical and cautious Bertha that he’s the nicest man on Earth. He didn’t kill anyone, actually, it was Mario who killed Marta, he isn’t a smuggler, and of course he didn’t kidnap those children. Then he drops the bomb of bombs: he’s old and lonely, and he wants to spend his last years with a lively and cheerful girl. Bertha thinks he should reconcile with Carlos, who’s a good boy, and who’s his only son. But no, Adolfo plans to disinherit that ungrateful bastard. That’s unfair! No, it isn’t. His wife is going to be his only heir. Bertha. Will you marry me?

Thanks, Aribeth! :-)

It's -4 F (-20 C) tonight; this is really beginning to BUG me.

Aribeth,

AWESOME title and photos !
Adolfo dominates the day...and Faidella does not even put his $#X@ in jail for even a few hours
for disturbing the peace. I know they are waiting for the big kill, and this is small time, but it would at least inconvenience him for a little while ...slap him in a large cell with some low life. He makes a total mockery of the law. Dante's scheme invigorated the depressed mastermind to seize center stage once gain....although I must admit I laughed when he dramatically knocked over the punch bowl.

I wholehertedly agree with Caramelo
that David looked muy guapo ... in ALL of his scenes. Abelardo did
an outstanding job of keeping the
wedding simple and elegant. All the guests looked wonderful. Los niños looked amazing - especially the colonel. Lucha has her hands full.Fausto missed another wedding.

Ulises showed his mettle. Bravo!
Bertha has a chance to muster up hers.

Thanks for the links Jeri. -4 - ack! You have my total sympathy. Are you still laden with snow there?

Aribeth: Great, great title :) I am chomping at the bit to read your recap - I couldn't figure out what Adolfo was saying to Bertha but by the title, I am completely dismayed if he's managed to lure her away from Carlos. If so, no redemption for her!

Adolfo went from the depths of despair to high, loathsome heights. I'm amazed he managed to leave the reception without being thoroughly pummeled by David and JJ.

Best dressed at the wedding? Chicles followed by Caramelo. Best Costume? Gabi, (did she raid Marta's closet?). I agree Floridia David looked divine and far outshone the groom.

I'm hoping JJ and Mauricio may finally band together to help Elsa. I can't believe their antagonistic relationship will be how the story ends.

Only a few weeks left! I'm very sad.

Diana

This is the first time that I've watched a novela in which every episode is exciting and interesting. I'll give JJ credit for taking his new info down to Leo and trying to help Elsa. Is it just a novela or is a real life scenario that the police ignore the big criminals and in turn harass people who are essentially victims?

As usual, Mau and Ulisis are the heroes of the novela. I love both of those guys.

Diana, Gabi, raiding Marta's closet, too funny! I thought the bodice of her dress looked like a Sport's Illustrated bathing suit top!!!

Jeri- Sending very warm thoughts your way. :)

Aribeth- Looking forward to the recap.

Adolfo was certainly having a good day and feeling his mojo again. I need Dante to give me a pep talk if that's the result. It's time for them to start bringing him down. I know it's too soon, and things probably won't start crumbling for Adolfo until the last week, but I don't think I can take him causing any more trouble for good people. My heart was in my throat as the police came into the house of unsuspecting Elsa and knew just where to look. I was once again so glad that Ulises was there and that he figured out so quickly that Edgar must have been involved.

I hope that the cop in charge of Elsa's case speaks to Leo soon, then the name Edgar will ring more bells.

Adolfo is laying the world at Bertha's feet. What will she do? What will she choose? It was sad that because of how she had betrayed her family in the past, she knew she couldn't show her face at her only sister's wedding.

Everyone did look lovely at the wedding, and it was fun seeing Gabi in something sexy and clingy, even if it looked more like Marta-wear. :) Cara flirting with David was cute and funny.

Already enjoying all the lively comments coming through; won't get back til late in the day now, but
it occurred to me that as Adolfo is tying up loose ends, he is asking Bertha to be his wife because of that old rule, "a wife cannot testify against her husband." She knows a few things.

Diana, yes; David was radiant, and I too will greatly miss this
"thrill-a-minute show."

It looks as if Ramon will be getting a promotion when Leo retires. Good sleuthing, Ramon.
Another connection comes to light.

Floridia: Adolfo proposed??

Oh my. He is a wily old devil, isn't he? I mean, Bertha would never accept...ummm...would she???

Consistently marvelous writing. Another plot twist to keep us hanging until tonight.

Diana

Aribeth can't wait for your recap, and Jeri, thanks for the links.

Was it my imagination but was JJ hesitating when he had to sign the marriage license...or was it just excitement?? He really acts as like he cares for her.

Poor Elsa...everything is happening to her. I'm glad she's got Mauricio.

icauthi

That comment was mine. Sorry.

Ann-NYC

Thanks for your recap yesterday Jeri. I'm in class most of the day and can't read recap until after 9 pm.

Aribeth, your title summed up the episode and I can't wait for the recap.

Floridia and Diana - yes, David did look very guapo.

Why do they keep picking on Elsa? I mean Chickles, though a child, is far more suspicious than poor Elsa. I hope Mau and JJ actually bury hard feelings b/c of this.

I got confused as to why Uni censored David in his briefs. Does anyone have any answers?

Maybe they thought that seeing the outline of his man package in his tighty whiteys was too much for our delicate lady eyes. :)

Ok, recap is up; thank you, Aribeth!

I just finished recapping tonight's ep, and let me advise you not to miss it! :D

Diana, we've had snow cover since about Thanksgiving, IIRC. Thanks everybody for the sympathy, LOL.

Ho boy, Adolfo with the punch bowl ruining the wedding; what a brat!

Now they need to have a church wedding to make up for it.

Good afternoon, ladies! Thank you, Jeri!

I've just arrived home from the cinema, we watched The King Speech. It's a very typical "we want Oscars" movie, but the British humor and the wonderful British/Australian actors make it outstanding.

Jeri, -20 C? Awful! My sympathies. As the great Marc Anthony (James Purefoy) said in HBO's Rome: snows always melt. I can feel the breeze of spring.

Comment of the day: Best Costume? Gabi, (did she raid Marta's closet?).
Hilarious, Diana. :)

Best scene: David and Caramelo. How adorable is that little girl! And Gabe Soto is muy guapo indeed.

Wonderful recap Aribeth. So it appears in spite of knowing it was a set up, Elsa will still spend 15 years in prison. I wonder if Edgar has already disappeared and maybe perhaps took Susana with him.

Adolfo was bold crashing the wedding and insulting everyone. He's so smug. I'm shocked that he proposed to Bertha. It seems she won't turn down the money so she will end up being Carlos mother-in-law me thinks.

Uni blurred out David's sexy briefs. I'm thinking David was ina baby making mood after falling for Caremelo.

As for Adolfo, the invincible and untouchable: it seems Leo is waiting for mistakes which Adolfo surely will commit. I think it's inevitable since he gets more pretentious and unguarded every time he manages to hurt someone.

But of course it's real life, too. It's hard to catch big fishes, while it's so easy to frighten the small, unprotected ones.

Elsa's imprisonment: I really don't know what's the point of that storyline. Maybe this is how the triangle/tension will be solved. It'd be high time for JJ to act like an adult and forget his anger. He wants to help her, but we saw what happened last time when Mau showed up with his own lawyer.

I really don't understand what's the big deal about jewels smuggling. For God's sake, those are just stones! Yes, they are very valuable and stolen, but they aren't that dangerous as drugs! Or human trafficking. Or weapon smuggling! JJ was convicted for 19 years because a girl died (and the police thought she was raped, too), but Elsa could get 15 years for having hot jewels in her fishbowl? And the same could've happened to Gaby. This and the presumption of guilt bug me much.

Bertha... *sigh* We all know her. I loved how she defended Carlos and his interests but she loves money way too much...

I'm surprised that Gaby hasn't got pregnant yet. They had so many baby making sessions and most likely she isn't on pills. :)

Ann:
was JJ hesitating when he had to sign the marriage license...or was it just excitement

That was pure excitement. :) He's really mad about that woman, that's why he acted like a dork, as usual: he dropped the pen, and didn't find his own name on the license. I'm impressed that it was Adolfo who pushed the punch bowl and not him.

Jeri:
Ho boy, Adolfo with the punch bowl ruining the wedding; what a brat!

Karma. You forgot to call Elsa? All right, then your wedding will be ruined! :) There must be at least three weddings at the ending: Leo/Juli, Gaby/Dave, Ale/JJ.

Yes, both couples need a nice, peaceful wedding after their less than perfecr first attempts. And Juli and Leo will do it right the first time they walk down the isle. And Santiago will finally be present as himself!

Gabi and David sharing an office-- will they ever be able to get any work done? ;-)

Smug and brat are the perfect ways to describe Adolfo this episode.

Aribeth: This was fabulous! Your pictures were absolutely amazing.

I particularly enjoyed this summary: "Chicles is making trouble (as usual), Lucha is trying to discipline him (as usual), David is calming JJ’s nerves down in the garden, and Gabriela is calming Alejandra’s nerves down". Excellent!

Yes, our nerves were frayed along with everyone else's with Adolfo's ill timed and most unwelcome intrusion. Brazen and egotistical. My, my, my...

Aribeth, "bomb of bombs" indeed! Because she didn't slap Adolfo into the next room, she's seriously considering it. My take? Go ahead Bertha - do it. You know your unquenchable desire for luxury outweighs any feelings you have for Carlos. Leave the path clear for Carlos to find someone who deserves him (and vice versa). Someone, like say, Mina! What do you think everyone? Maybe we can squeeze in yet another wedding.

Thanks Aribeth - this was great!

Jeri, thanks for the heads up about tonight. I'll be watching!

Diana

Jeri, so sorry about the cold, stay warm inside!  Vivi, have you spoken with your friend from Egypt, will she be able to return in the near future?

Aribeth's, thanks in advance for your recap. It will be my bedtime treat after a long day.

Interesting.....on David in his undies, nothing was obscured in Jeri's links!

I loved the way Mauricio, Ulises and their lawyer handled themselves at the police station.   Ulises was so frustrated because Officer MUY DURO wouldn't believe him then Mau essentially interrupted him saying that he had said enough, let the lawyer speak and then gratefully, the lawyer quietly made great points in defense of Elsa. Elsa will soon look back at her crush on JJ and view that time as a wacky nightmare, she has the real deal in Mau and her friend Ulises.

Sandy- My friend is now working with her Egypt team remotely from here in the States. So she's working strange hours. She's not sure when or if she'll eb able to go back. What she said is that she wouldn't mind being there during the craziness, but her presence is too much of a distraction for her Egyptian colleagues who were more concerned about her safety than theirs. No one knows what will happen from one day to the next, so she has no idea when it will be considered safe to go back.

Thank goodness for Jeri's YouTube links, otherwise we would miss good stuff like steamy love scenes. U.S. television has some really prudish ideas about what it needs to edit or blur.

Thanks for the entertaining recap, Aribeth, and the photos are great as well. Thanks for the details because I had missed where Serious and Strict Cop at the AFI threatened Ulises with being an accomplice. Harsh. Who to believe, an anonymous caller from another country calling out of the blue or a live person at the scene with a plausible account of what may have occurred. Hopefully, Serious Cop will speak to Leo.

Adolfo is so brazen and full of himself that he is not even deterred by Leo's presence anymore. Even though Bertha has been a big pain, this may be her chance to redeem herself if she somehow confessed and cooperated with Leo to catch Adolfo. She can't choose Adolfo and lose her chance at love with Carlos, can she?

LOL, Vivi. I checked out David on the link and I want to let Uni know that I did not have vapors upon seeing David's tighty whities unpixalated. Gabi's looks last night: Las Vegas showgirl at the wedding and Grandma's drab olive nightgown at bedtime.

Looking forward to tonight to see if what Bertha's answer to Adolfo will be. Will she sell her soul?

GinCA

Prediction: I'll take a stab at it. Bertha will not accept the offer. She'll go with the passion of youth and a chance to lead a decent life.

Aribeth,  wonderful recap with outstanding photos. I loved your descriptive sentence giving us the perspective of the fish in Elsa's fishbowl, you have such a creative mind.  Thanks so much! I saw "The King's Speech" too, unexpectedly, it was delightful. Colin Firth is one of the best galans ever! I know Jennifer Ehlr has been in other things, but this was the first time I'd seen her in a while.

Vivi, so happy your friend is back, glad you hadn't bought your ticket yet. It sounds like she  has wonderful co-workers!

Floridia, I thought that myself, possibly Bertha will refuse Adofo. She had such a better understanding of him now.

Sandy, I love Pride and Prejudice, too. I have the dvd set. Mr. Darcy emerging from the lake with his wet white shirt....what a sight for the eyes. And Colin Firth seems to have aged well. Loved him the first Bridget Jones movie as well.

GinCA

Thanks for the comments!

Sandy:
Jennifer és Colin had one tiny scene in the movie together, obviously made for us, the P&P fans - I and my friend almost started to scream at that moment. :)))

Aribeth, love love love the title and photos, especially David’s look with Caramelo. My favorite lol moments: “As usual, Fausto doesn’t want to leave his precious flat.” “For five seconds Bertha’s brain works…” “The fishbowl’s lonely inhabitant reproachfully looks at Viewerville…” “Try to remember these sweet moments, Ramón, when you’re woken up in the middle of the night…” Thanks a bunch.
