Llena de Amor #126 (Mex. 131) Wed 2/9/11 Besame Mucho...And Then Shut Up Please

Lord, we had some dreary love scenes tonight. Vicky continues her adventures into bi-polarism, alternating whining and lusting, kvetching and kissing, barring the door with furniture and then leaping into Emanuel's arms. No wonder he thinks he's going crazy. He's messing with an absolute loca and craziness is catching. Trust me. The romance between Brandon and Ilitia is equally screwy. She makes sweet love and then denies it ever happened, adding in a few naco gorilla baser instinct insults to emphasize her point. Even Delicia and Axel are playing both sides of the field, though in their case, it was great fun pulling the wool over every one's eyes. But enough complaining on my part...let's get to the play by play.

We open the evening with a replay of Tuesday's last scene where Emanuel triumphantly puts a bowl of raw pasta and over seasoned sauce in front of Vicky and awaits praises. And gets none. Once he tastes it, he has to agree and proposes a wine toast instead.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo is proposing he come in as an investor in Fedra's latest venture. She's appalled he'd even try, after what he's been up to with her daughter. Protesting his innocence and waggling his check in front of her eyes with winks and nudges, he reasons that if they stick together , he'll protect her and they'll both make off with all the money, including Garduño's and Mauricio's. Now there's a plan that appeals. Fedra finally takes his check but reminds him that she'll never forgive him. Lorenzo doesn't look worried.

Enter Garduño and Mau. Exit Lorenzo, trailed by Bernardo who wants to make some threats.

But not before we're treated to a scene of Vicky literally barring the door with a piece of heavy furniture. And Emanuel looking like he's ready to chew right through the woodwork.
Poor guy has a very heavy case of Lust going one. Terminal, I'd say. Begging and pleading he wears her down after...oh say, a nanosecond. Furniture gets pushed aside. Clinches and sloppy besos begin.

Next, we see a full moon. Well, it's always a full moon in these telenovelas. But we also see jeep headlights. This is something new. Evidently Brandon likes to make love with some nacomobile illumination. No complaints from Ilitia who's being fully cooperative. Well, guess you can't spend all your time bickering, although she gave it her best shot.

Back to Bernardo. He thinks Lorenzo has a lot of nerve (agallas) trying to do business with Fedra after macking on her daughter. And he's going to be in a lot of trouble (una camisa de onze varas) if he doesn't watch out. Lorenzo disses him for being Fedra's lifelong slave and whipping boy and waltzes off. Leaving Bernardo to grind his teeth and mutter that Low's days are numbered. We can but hope.

The writers take mercy on us and give us a sweet scene of Axel and Delicia teasing and kissing, giggling like the two charming adolescents they seem to be.
Nasty Nereida appears and Axel immediately segues into bash mode, pretending to bawl Dee out. Nereida's not fooled but Delicia reminds her she has her own lapses (mucha cola que te pisa) so just watch it.

Kristel and Mau are hovering outside the office to see if Garduño and Monster Ma will reach an agreement. Kristel knows her wedding depends on it. OUR wedding, Mau reminds her. Sure 'nough Ma and Gar swan out, business buddies at last, with the news that the wedding will be in a week. Fedra smiles through gritted teeth but nobody notices 'cause just then Lorena enters. More complications!

And at the boardinghouse too. Netty's rehearsing. Very dramatic. And Gladiola has a clutch of brochures for the services of a new occult fortune-teller. In the midst of this Consuelo arrives to lament that Brandon left town with one babe (Ilitia) to chase after another babe (Vicky) while she, Consuelo, seduced and abandoned, is the only one who truly loves him......Well, let's stop right there. Even if she doesn't. Her poor kid comes in and faints on the couch. Seems he hasn't been eating. Seeing his mom miserable has thrown him off his feed. Netty and Glad beg her to take him to a doctor but she refuses. Her bags are packed. She's going home (a mi tierra) and the taxi's waiting. Maybe Gladiola would like to see her out to make sure she's really leaving. After all, it's her fault that things didn't work out with her son.

Ugh. Glad that scene's over, aren't you?

Hmmm. Guess Brandon and Ilitia's lovemaking is over too. And it never happened. Nope, Brandon just took advantage of Ilitia's momentary weakness, sacrificing her to his baser instincts. Wow, way to build up a man's ego, Ilitia. I'll admit Brandon seems to be teflon-coated in the ego department but even so. Anyway, she nags him to drive slowly since she doesn't want to mess up her hair. He guns the motor and off they go at top speed. Hey Brandon, I'm totally on your side. Totally.

Emiliano, as Carlos noted, is always reading yesterday's script. Tonight he's totally flummoxed because Lorena has re-appeared. Axel explains his and Delicia's subterfuge and Dad enthusiastically whispers that he'll help in the tomfoolery. They seal their pact with a manly fist bump.

Another dreadful dinner ensues. Fedra, still looking glum, announces that Mau and Kristel will be married within a week. Lorena pops up and says she and Axel plan to be married also. Axel, horrified. Delicia, madly rubbing her nose to signal he should play along. Emiliano shouting that there's a rat loose to discombobulate everybody. It finally gets sorted out, not without a few allusions to Emi being in his dotage and seeing things. Paula tries to console Delicia while Kristel firmly quashes any prospect of a double wedding. No no no no. I'm getting married first. You and Axel later. Much later. Well, this calls for more wine. A lot more. For Fedra anyway.

So what's happening back at the hacienda? Well, Vicky and Emanuel are making sandwiches.
With their bodies. Besos besos and good heavens! in walks Ilitia and Brandon, looking shocked. Vicky looks guilty. Emanuel...slightly woozy and annoyed at being interrupted. Ilitia goes into her woman wronged routine while Emanuel calmly asks her why her hair is all mussed up.
Hey', it's the nacomobile's fault. Brandon quietly reminds her she doesn't have much to say given what just.....er.....It did not happen Brandon, remember. Ilitia gets right up in Emanuel's face and swears he will pay big-time for this humiliation. Then she lunges at Vicky.

Gotta say during all this Emanuel has a cocky, so what? look on his face. Whatever he's feeling, it's certainly not guilt or shame. And this probably infuriates Ilitia as much as anything else. Given her recent romp in the meadow though, we won't feel too sorry for her, right?

While Ilitia and Emanuel are squabbling, Brandon's in the kitchen remonstrating with Vicky. She's making the same mistakes as Marianela and she'll end up destroyed just like Marianela did. You gotta stay away from this Ruiz y de Teresa guy! Never mind that. What did you mean by that remark to Ilitia about having no grounds to complain? Brandon, ever the gentleman, hedges that after all, Ilitia played dirty (jugó chueco) when Emanuel was planning to marry Marianela so.....

Meanwhile, more mentiras in the salon. I've never cheated on you Emanuel. You've been the only man in my life. Emanuel tries the "it's not you, it's me routine". And it bombs.

Ilitia: Emanuel, I'm your wife. Whatever you do, it affects me.
Emanuel: Our marriage was a mistake. I tried. You know how hard I tried.
Ilitia: Are you saying I pushed you into her arms!? You never touched me in two years. I can't remember the last time we made love. (Heck, Ilitia, you can't even remember making love a half an hour ago!)
Emanuel: I never loved you the way you deserved Ilitia. And now...now, we're only friends.

Alright. We're back at the dinner table now. Lorena is crowing that she hates long engagements and thinks she and Axel should be married right away. And that's when Delicia dumps the soup in Lor's lap.
General uproar. Axel makes a good show of yelling at Delicia, while De, on the pretense of wiping off Lorena, is whacking her methodically with a napkin. More roaring and chest-beating as he chases her into the kitchen. Fedra is thrilled. Her little boy is becoming a Man. She's gotta go help him chew out that maid. NO, rumbles Emiliano. I've had enough! I''ll do it! And off he goes, cannons firing. Fedra is giddy with the testosterone rush. What an evening! Axel and De sneak in some sweet kitchen kisses while Papa thunders and smiles. And Nereida spies. Oh dear.

Well, deal with the suspense because now we're at Muñeca's house. Glad is on a visit, playing with Christian and Manzanita, recalling the happy days when she wheeled little Chris around in a stroller. The little guy is not about to jump in her lap as scripted, but he plays gamely with the toys and then pedals away on a trike. Pretty realistic boy behavior actually. Who wants a lap when you've got wheels? Whoops, Glad's innards are giving an organ concert so Muñeca suggests they go out to dinner while Flora puts the kiddies to bed. On their way downstairs, they overhear Lorenzo trying to make a date with Kristel. Kris, with her usual mishmash of Spanish and English, chides Lo for "mal timing". Right now the whole family is bawling out the chirusita (little wretch of a maid) and her" puchunjguito" (lover-poo) is here and they're planning their wedding so "move on". Lorenzo hangs up and sighs...out loud...that he won't rest until he has that woman in his arms.

Well, cue the kayak. It's time for Muñeca to move on, clearly. She thought Lorenzo would change his ways now that his little son was part of the family but Glad assures her that men like that never change. All the more reason to whip out her brochures and recommend that Muñeca consult la bruja Angela. (Okay. Full moon. Love scene in water. Consult with a voodoo/tea leaf/ crystal ball reader. Have we missed anything yet? Sure have! I predict another troublesome pregnancy in the near future. Kristel's lamentable embarazo is too far in the past to really count. )

Much as I hate to, let's return to the hacienda. The girls have packed off Brandon and Emanuel are are getting down to business. Insults mostly. Which Vicky won't put up with. After all, Ilitia did the same with Marianela. Doing everything, together with Kristel, to wind up in Eman's bed and break up the marriage plans. Ah yes, and that's why she and Jorge conspired to send me to Paris snaps Ilitia. So you could seduce my husband!

Vicky, self-righteousness well in hand, muses that the difference is....she, Miss Vicky, did it for LOVE.

Whatever. I'm finding them both rather annoying right now.

Things are hot back in Mexico City. Nereida has just ratted out Emiliano. He was actually covering up for Delicia and Axel who weren't really fighting at all. Delicia whips out a spoon and starts to mention Nereida's light fingers. And how about finding Nereida nude in the General's quarters. Mau figures with the body that babe has (el cuerpocito que traiga esta mujer...)the old General would have had a heart attack for sure. Fedra's more interested in the disappearing silverware. Nereida backtracks.

Nereida: I lied. I don't like Dee so I was just trying to do her in (amarrar navajas lit. stick in knives)

Kristel's getting acne from all this uproar. It's "muy heavy" she complains. De, still holding up a silver spoon like a cross before a vampire, does indeed ward off Fedra. For now.

Hmmm. Another sweetness break. Gotta have 'em once in a while. GretelMan and Oliver are canoodling on the twin bed.
But alas, he has to short-circuit romance and head out to work. And off he goes with lots of te amo's. Giving Gretel time to remember Fedra's cryptic words about not being her mama. Forgive me Oliver, she mutters, but I must find out, esa misma noche (this very night) what's going on.

Oh dear. Sweetness was very short. Back to the bitter. Eman and Vicky.
Our neurotic heroine is on another rant. Mind-reading. And she doesn't like what she sees. Emanuel doesn't really care for her. He's only bothered that he offended his wife. Miss Vicky doesn't matter. She's just a pastime.

Vicky: You used me. I'm just another on your list. If I were really important to you, you wouldn't be sorry.
Emanuel: Look. I'm confused. But this is some kind of crazy love. I desire you. I want to be loving you and kissing you 24 hours a day.

And more grappling and sloppy besos ensue.

Enter Jorge. What in hell are you doing? Well, should be obvious. But still. A reasonable question.

Final scenes are with Brandon and Ilitia. They've left the hacienda and are now in a bar where our Top Model is determined to drown her sorrows in tequila. And bash Brandon some more. She resents his protectiveness. What is he!? Her papa? Her big brother? Her boyfriend?
Brandon points out that they did just make love ("chocamos nuestros carritos "lit. bump our little cars).
Ilitia: Hey we didn't make love, lalalala...we just blew off steam as buddies (desahogó como cuates).

Well, if that's the case Brandon's leaving.

Brandon: Er...I'm leaving. I really am.

Ilitia: Bayeeee. Go. I don't need you. Hey, fellas, who wants to dance with me?

Brandon reclaims his princess, sits her down at a table and lends his shoulder to cry on.

Ilitia: What's she got that I don't have? Am I not woman enough? What's wrong with me?

Brandon warns her that she's playing with fire.

Ilitia: Playing with fire am I? Wanna burn me? Let's make love again.

And she seals it with a kiss. Oh my.

Previews:
Gretel returns to la Mala Noche as Sirena to find out the truth from Fedra.
Jorge tells Eman that he came to get Vicky back. And if Emanuel doesn't know how to respect her, he'll teach him. Take that! POW!!!!!!

Dicho of the Day
Quedar de la cachetada = To turn out very badly.

Not one love scene ended well tonight. Gretel and Oliver had to go on hiatus. Axel and Delicia had a real scare. Emanuel and Vicky were caught every time they started to kiss. And wrangling instead of love-making ensued. Ilitia and Brandon got to bump little cars but then she negated and dissed the whole thing.

Todo quedó de la cachetada queridos. Lo siento!

Hooray! I was able to tag it this time. Buenas Noches everybody. Hasta mañana.

Judy thanks for the recap. Glad you were able to tag this one. I too felt a bit cranky about this episode. One of the only bright spots was Dee calling out Nereida as a thief. The rest of the our time together was sometime unpleasant - what was with Consuelo? does this mean that her stalking of Brandon is over? (One can hope) MV and Ilitia gripping and MV just being annoying. Here's hoping things are more pleasant for you next week.

Brilliant title!! It's one of those "why didn't I think of that?" things. Definitely in the title hall of fame.

Amiga you really got stuck with a grueling episode. As you warned there was not much satisfaction tonight and the love scenes were dreary. Still, I had several LOL moments. My favite was "Heck, Ilitia, you can't even remember making love a half an hour ago!" No kidding. What's up with our Top Model? I'm very confused by her behavior which leads me to beleive she is, um, confused too.

Is Emiliano finally showing some spirit? He's a bit of a bumbler but he seems to have a goal regarding Axel and Dee.

Fedra is a complete lush. She was three sheets to the wind before the first course. Funny how nobody mentions it.

Judy, you captured some insanely good screen shots tonight. Way to go!! We had an anemic episode but your recap was firing on all cylinders. Gracias!

Judy, you had a lot of fun with a bumpy episode! This was a great read. I too was out of patience with Vicky and her “you don’t really love me” whine, and with Eman for not looking the slightest bit chagrined or sorry that he’d hurt Ilitia. Vicky seemed to be just inconvenienced by Ilitia’s arrival, and mainly concerned that she was now cast in the role of lover. It’s all about her.

You got off some great lines, among them “off he goes, cannons firing” and the one about Vicky and Eman making sandwiches. Great stuff.

Another small annoyance was how Gladiola and Muneca were making over Christian while pretty much ignoring Manzanita, who smiled cheerily anyway. Oh, and Lorena just up and announcing that she and Axel are engaged without even consulting him. She deserves whatever she gets, and we know it’s gonna be bad.

Upside, I really enjoyed Ilitia’s drunk scene in the bar – well done. And the big moment for me was when Lorenzo told Bernardo that he knew Bernardo was in love with Fedra and in fact it was so obvious that everyone knew. Yowch! I have an idea that that’s going to have a major impact on how Bernardo behaves in the future towards Fedra. He’s not a man who will suffer shaming lightly.

BTW, the medium lady is not new in town – she was the one who stayed at the pension very early in the show and creeped everybody out with her predictions and strange behavior.

I also want to thank Julia for the really wonderful recap of Tuesday’s. I read it too late to comment.

So sorry you had a rather frustrating episode this week Judy. I have a habit of taking the galans' sides in these things, but last night I wanted to yell at both Brandon and Eman - Run! Run Far AWAY! We use to think Ilitia spoiled and selfish, well, Vicky with her incessant whining is right up there with aggravating. really hard to cheer for either one.

I did enjoy the whole dinner scene - needed that laugh last night. Fedra's glee at seeing Axel reeming Dee was too funny and Emi playing along was a hoot. Lorena must have been taking posing lessons at a model's academy - gees, girl, just stand there. really want her to go away again.

I had a very hard time watching the Consuelo exit. The take I was getting, and maybe I over analyzed, was that she was using her son to make a point on being distraight over Brandon and that is entirely unacceptable. She is so nuts, she would starve or neglect her son to prove a point or get sympathy? I would have grabbed that kid and called the authorities...just me. I hope she's gone for good.

So now Jorge wants "Vicki" back - my head hurts. (Well, Eman's will too with that left hook he gets.)

Judy, this was my all time favorite recap of yours. Your amazing word choices and phrases put this over the top. Masterful. You are the quintessential storyteller. The pictures painted the perfect story. The embedded vocabulary and dicho - greatly appreciated. Gracias amiga.

A pared down list of my favorites were: "whining and lusting", "kvetching and kissin", "naco gorilla baser instinct insults", "Evidently Brandon likes to make love with some nacomobile illumination", "Vicky and Emanuel are making sandwiches. With their bodies" and my favorite: "Ilitia and Brandon got to bump little cars but then she negated and dissed the whole thing". Excellent!

Karen, I'll add to your bright spot about Dee outing Nereida as a thief and add another happy moment, Dee dumping the soup on Lorena's lap!

Sylvia, it was nice to see that Emil had a clue (at least last night) - he's always a day late and a dollar short.

Maggie, Ilitia is one of my favorite characters (and actresses). I agree the bar scene was great. Any time she bats those luminescent eyes, she's very moving.

How much more will Muneca tolerate? If Low's obsession with Kristel doesn't end things for good, nothing well.

Consuelo's abrupt departure makes no sense. But then again, her storyline has been veering to the left of crazy for a while.

Diana

By the previews, I'm distressed (and in disbelief) Gretel is putting herself in harms way by confronting Fedra - alone, once again! She has so many allies - why doesn't she call on anyone to be close by when disaster strikes! Gretel is no match for Fedra as we've seen way too many times. Blech.

Diana

Great job Judy. You really were on a roll last night. You had some really good lines, many already acknowledged. I'll mention another that I appreciated:

"Well, guess you can't spend all your time bickering, although she gave it her best shot."

And so she did.

I'm happy that Angela (the loopy soothsayer) is going to return. She's a gift for us recappers.

I probably read more into little Javi's conking out than there was, but to me that pallor and dark circles under his eyes plus the passing out shouted out... LUCEMIA of the TN variety.

Just like Beto, Brandon says:

"chocamos nuestros carritos"

For some reason to me that sounds so sweet and innocent. He and Ilitia together remind me so much of Beto and Coni anyway.

Far and away my favorite scenes last night were those with Axel, Delicia, and the rest of the family. So funny.

Carlos

Great recap JudyB! And thanks as always for your vocabulary. Several of the phrases I need to look up to understand their literal meaning as well as the figurative meaning. So much Mexican slang! Sometimes it's pretty obvious when a word is not of Spanish origin but rather comes from one of the indigenous Mexican languages.

How does Vicki ever get the impression that she's just a notch on Eman's belt? Oh - right - she still has the old "fat girl" inferiority complex. I don't think I've ever seen an actor play such raging out-of-control loco lust as VL is able to pull off in this TN. VM - however - is just blind to it.

Ooooo! Looks like the next episode is going to be very exciting. Did I see Fedra behind bars? Yay!

What a scene Consuelo pulled. Making her kid do all this stuff to gain sympathy - please! I am happy to see her go, but I don't think she'll remain gone long!

Better watch it Nereida - too many folks know where your skeletons are buried!

Audrey

Oh yeah - I loved the bar scene too!

Audrey

Sounds like I'm not the only one baffled by Consuelo's hasty departure. First she was a very minor character and Javier had more lines than she did. Then all of a sudden she's working with Brandon, chasing him all over the place, and we hear very little from Javi. Then she goes all stalker and obsessive but suddenly decides to leave? A pale and fainting Javi does not bode well as Doctor Carlos suggests. I have no idea where this might be going. Most of the side plots in the TN are fun but this one is a bit of a dud. Diana, I love your description that the plot has been "left of crazy". Sounds like a great dicho to me!

Audrey, was Fedra behind bars? Oh goodie!!!

I'm also distressed about Gretel confronting Fedra. What's the girl thinking? Ay Dios mio as Gretel would say.

Thank you JudyB. I always enjoy your recaps.

The actress playing Consuelo has looked pregnant to me for some time. She was always wearing those big flowing tops. Maybe it is just my imagination.

Anon, I've been expecting Consuelo to turn up pregnant so it wouldn't surprise me. If you recall, Gladiola has already promised that he will do the right thing if she does.

Carlos

Hi everybody! And thanks for all those kind comments and interesting observations. We're really beginning to have fun with this, even the stinky episodes.

@Karen...you, like me and a lot of others, remain baffled by the Consuelo side plot. I notice Anonymous thinks the actress herself might be pregnant. So maybe the writers put in the whole craziness so she'd have a reason to stalk off. Anything other than Dr. Carlos' fear that Javier might have leukemia. Please puhleeze no!

@Sylvia...I love it when Emiliano shows some spirit and zip as he did last night. But overall that character is very disappointing. Always using liquor to deal with problems, never following through on promises (leave Fedra, adequately protect Gretel, make an 'honest woman' out of Netty.) However, he has stuck to his commitment to support Axel. And the actor's voice is still such an aphrodisiac we're willing to forget all the rest.

@Maggie...thanks for the heads up about the "vidente". I wasn't watching regularly then although I'm sure I must have seen her face in some of the previews.

We seem to be in a very narcissistic phase of the Vicky/Emanuel romance and that's never pretty. Hope things change soon.

Nice catch on the making over of little Christian while Manzanita was cheerfully ignored. Natural for Gladiola since she cared for him as a baby, but Muñeca (if this were real life) would have needed to shift the focus to Manzanita as well.

About Bernardo..will be interesting to see if he pulls back with Fedra at all. She seems to have such a force field where he's concerned, I'll be surprised if he pulls it off. On the other hand, Lorenzo's days are numbered indeed after his dismissive treatment.

@Daisynjay...I had the exact same thought about Consuelo. Regardless of the child's lack of appetite, promoting the idea that he's sad because she's sad is just icky. Anytime we make someone else responsible for our problems and feelings, we're on shaky ground but doing it to a child is the worst. Frankly, I just hope they'll both disappear now. They weren't adding anything to the storyline IMO.

@Diana...I have to agree with Sylvia. Your "left of crazy" line is great. Gosh, I think one of us could work that into a title sometime. Fabulous "frase" amiga.

And I'm on board with both you and Maggie, that Ilitia can light up the screen anytime. While the Vicky actress is very pretty and has a great figure, I do not find her nearly as compelling as Ilitia. And the latter actress has comedienne skills that the former does not.

@Carlos, amigo mio...sure hope you're wrong about the leukemia diagnosis. Lord, I hate these childhood dreadful illness plot lines.

But love the phrase "bumping our little cars". Lends an adolescent playful note to what was...technically..infidelity and adultery. But heck...it never happened. And if it did, it was just bumping little cars after all. Nothing serious.

@Audrey...sometimes when you look up the literal meanings, it SILL seems like an odd turn of phrase. Takes a while to just sit back and accept that this is just how they express something in the language. I know "me cae bien, me cae gordo, hacer la vista gorda" etc. etc. just seemed so darned ODD to me, I didn't know how I'd ever use them. But after awhile, it begins to seem 'right' and make sense.

As for the bar scene, Brandon better get Ilitia out of there before the local boys go hog wild. I loved it when he grabbed her back from the lads and said "codigo, codigo". Didn't know if that meant "code of honor" or if it meant "zip code" like hey...this is MY territory! Hands off. Either way, I liked it.

@Anonymous...you are the first to mention that the actress playing Consuelo might be pregnant. But sure 'nough, she has been wearing a lot of loose tops lately. You may have called it right amigo..or amiga...whichever the case may be.

Oh Lord..I missed Carlos' comment that the CHARACTER Consuelo might be pregnant. Gosh, did they actually reach criterion behavior...or just soap each other up in the shower? Well, maybe I missed something. Might have been on a basketball night.

Whatever, for sure a tragic pregnancy is in our collective future. Just don't know which character it will be.

By the way, forgot to mention...Audrey..nice analysis on why Vicky is being such a churl. It's the sad little fat girl inside. You nailed it.

Judy- I missed this episode, but it seems that your recap was 10x better than the actual episode. Thanks amiga.

I love your descriptions of all of our couples. Mari (Ariadne) is quite beautiful when she smiles. I think the heroine role is almost always humorless and thankless. You're forced to be churlish, pouty or sad most of the time. No room for comedy. The galans get comedy as part of their bag of tricks because it's used to charm the heroine. I think I'd choose to be the vilana or the funny sidekick any time over the heroine if I was an actress. Way more fun that way. :)

Interesting thoughts about the perils of playing the heroine, Vivi. Thinking back, they do all seemed to have had prolonged periods of being bitchy and volatile. Certainly our STuD heroine was unbearable for most of the telenovela.

The bad guy (or girl) is always the most fun. I can remember as a child (a bossy know-it-all child) that when assigning roles for our make believe games, I'd always give myself the "beautiful princess" role. And then would become so annoyed with the lackluster way the witch was being played, I HAD to switch and take over that spot myself.

Hmmmm...was I just talking about narcissism awhile back? Seems like that condition starts pretty early.

Good to hear from you Vivi. Sorry you missed the last scene with Brandon and Ilitia in the bar...but no doubt it will be re-shown at the beginning of tonight's episode.

I was so looking forward to your recap Judy. I knew it would have much need snark for this episode. I know we are supposed to be rooting for the main couple but right now I'm not liking Eman or Mari at this moment. I'm still bothered by the fact that Eman has no remorse for cheating on Ilitia. I know he only married her out of obligation but still that just rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me started on Mari and her self righteousness. Just ugh.

The only bright spot was Axel and Delicia and of course Oliver and Gretel.

Hi Pirate Babe. Hope the sun is shining up your way in spite of the frigid cold.

Most of us gals have weighed in as being disgusted by Emanuel's nonchalant acceptance of his infidelity and blasé reaction to Ilitia's chagrin.

Do the guys feel the same way? (Carlos, Scott, any Anonymouses?)

I'm trying to figure out if the male viewpoint would be....Well, it happened. It had to happen. We're hot for each other. Beside, don't love my wife. So. Punto. Move on.

Meanwhile, we women are thinking...That is soooooo wrong. Even if the marriage is finito, you have to end it before taking up with anyone else. Absolutely.

Of course in real life, people break these rules all the time. And I know we can feel chillingly indifferent to "exes" when we're madly in love with Mr. or Miss New. But still. Major ick factor for me. Especially since he's supposed to be the Golden Boy hero.

Wonderful recap, could not see it last night so glad I can read the recaps, perhaps if I had to miss any this was the one.

Hi Lolita. So glad you've joined us. The best part of the episode was the last few minutes (well, the scenes with Delicia and Axel were cute too) so at least you can catch Ilitia being naughty in the bar as the prologue to tonight.

Thanks JudyB. I've been watching since the end of STuD and did see last nights. Had to read the cap because I wasn't sure if our couples had gone all the way or what. Also, wasn't clear what that little drama at dinner was about. One story line that is totally disgusting for me is Lorenzo trying to seduce the daughter of the woman he's skewering. . .for them even to have kissed. . .now THAT is what is soooooo wrong. I hope he and Bernardo do each other in (now that's a scary looking guy. He looks like Frankenstein's monster before the death and "operation.") Fun and witty cap. Thanks JudyB!

Khalilah

Great recap, Judy. I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said, except this:

WHAT is with Manolo's footwear? Those white ankle socks with loafers are hideous and they're hurting my eyes. Surely Gretel could find some more normal-looking socks and shoes to go with those outfits.

Agree with the comment that Emanuel is putting on about the biggest display of all-consuming lust ever. He's a cross between Casanova and Pepe le Pew.

Khalilah, "...the woman he's skewering"...that's a funny way of putting it, ha. I think Lowrenzo'd like to combine most of the women he knows into a shish-kebab.

Oh Lord!..Khalilah and Julia together on a riff...this is too much. Love the word and the word picture. You two make a great tag team. Glad you've joined us Khalilah. Chime in more often lady. You're always so funny.

Yes to everything you both said. Bernardo is truly scary looking. Would not be inconsolable if both bit the dust. Pronto.

Emanuel portraying LLLLLLLLLust. Yeah, he even has the glazed eye of a male in rutting season with no frontal lobe activity whatever.

Manolo's footwear. I thought it looked very European actually. Kind of España summer wear look goin' on. Although what do I know? All I remember from my days in Europe was the ugly footwear the Germans always showed up in. But I bet their tootsies were a lot happier than mine wedged into pointy-toed high heels.

Is that an España summer-wear look? I guess I have no idea. I've only ever been in Spain for a few days in the winter, and the only footwear I remember was on this muy guapo young man I was chatting with on the train...he was wearing pointy-toed white boots of some exotic textured leather.

I'm sure he thought my Naot mary janes were as hideous as I think Manolo's duds are. And I'm actually wearing those same mary janes right now, more than four years later, so you can tell how fashion-conscious I am.

I'm looking forward to Jorge losing his cool tonight. Although he's a fool if he thinks he stands a chance against super-athlete Emanuel. I predict Eman will just smirk at him.

Hi Judy, I didn't get to see lat nights episode yet, so appriciateyour informative recap. I will have to watch it for sure now.

Judy, I didn't mention how good your photos are. That last picture of Gretel (la Sirena de la Noche) is striking.

Carlos

Hey, we forgot to mark a milestone. If Ilitia and Brando bumped cars, that means for the first time since the rape, she was able to follow through! Yes, it was infidelity. But therapeutic infidelity!

GO-O-O-O-O-L!!!!!

Vivi, you're right! And Ilitia wasn't even drunk this time. A telenovela cure if there ever was one.

Good call Amiga.

Hey Julia...I have no idea if that's España summer wear or not. I'm talking through my hat lots of the time as I'm sure you're well aware. But that was my intuition when I saw her little footsies on the desk.

As for you, keep on wearing those Mary Janes. Today's footwear (other than what they wore on Sex and the City) is so much better for feet than in my day.

Carlos, thanks for the kudos on the pictures. As I drag through the many steps of locating, uploading, copying and pasting and then deleting I'm wondering why the heck I'm doing this! Really don't have the patience but I'm trying.

Vivi...you astute lady you! Yes, therapeutic bumping of cars. And she's apparently ready for Round Two, although this time, she's drunk. Okay. Problem diagnosed and solved. Next!
(Will we have to start calling him Dr. Brandon now?)

Well I really appreciate the photos JudyB!

I especially liked the photo of the Eman and VM "sandwich". Very nice with the panoramic crop - LOL!

Audrey

I'm a dude but I still agree that Eman is insufferable. VL is generally a good actor, but the way he is handling cheating on Ilitia is just a piss off. I look forward to Jorje knocking him out tonight. Maybe I won’t be so angry at him after that.

@Audrey...that crop just worked out. It did make a nice picture, didn't it?

@Anonymous...well, good. Glad we're on the same page. I thought his attitude was incredibly cavalier but wondered how it would seem to a guy. Thanks for the input.
