La Fea Más Bella #267-268 3/24/11 If you knew Aurora like I know Aurora, oh, oh, oh!

Capitulo 267.
Read Alma's original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Caro shows Jacques (Jax) and Sr. Snowcap the face of their campaign, Aurora! Jax hires Conceptos on the spot. Lety loudly protests, and everyone asks, “Why not?” (Through this episode, “Why not?” will be shorthand for, “Someone asks Lety why she doesn’t want Aurora to be the face of the ad campaign, and she doesn’t have a good answer.”) Jax says if they can’t use Aurora, he’ll go elsewhere.

2. Aldo asks, “Why not?” He suspects she doesn’t want to be free of Conceptos. That’s the only explanation in an Aldo-centered universe.

3. Marcia finds out that Alicia is engaged to Tom. Ali says she has no choice.

4. Caro urges Lety to let herself be beautiful. Lety’s afraid people won’t like her.

5. Fern asks, “Why not?”

6. Simon begs Paula back, and she agrees to let him try.

7. Omar says they need this contract so they need Aurora. Fern says Lety wants a different model and he’ll support her. Omar poses the question as a test of friendship, and asks if Fern is going to sacrifice Conceptos for Lety again.

8. Lety tells Lui that she’s Aurora. He doesn’t believe her, and he says he won’t do the project if they don’t get Aurora.

9. Without authorization, Omar contracts with Jax to do the campaign with Aurora. Omar asks, “Why not?” Marcia asks, “Why not?” Fern reads the contract and discovers that if Aurora is not in the campaign, Conceptos must return the $2M advance plus a $1M penalty. Luigi reports that Aurora left for Europe.

10. Lety visits Jax to suggest they find another model. Jax asks for Aurora call him. If he can’t convince her, he’ll agree to review other options.

11. Ali tells Tom about wedding preparations. The deposit on the hall is $100K.

Capitulo 268.
Read Julie's original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Tom follows Lety to a bar to meet Jax. He tries to pick up Aurora, but then he hears Lety’s voice and recognizes her. Jax arrives. Aurora refuses to do the campaign. He says that he’ll hire someone else because Conceptos is incompetent, and they’ll have to pay the $1M penalty.

2. Alicia arrives at Tom’s house with her suitcases. She watches naco comedies and snorts with Tomasa. In the morning she has her second test, ironing. Tomasa says if she’ll be staying there, they need to get married.

3. Omar thinks Fern was foolish to sell his house to pay the debt, since now they have the RetroMod contract. Fern corrects him. Aurora’s not available, and now they’ll have to pay the penalty.

4. Tom and Lety rehash about Lety’s inner Aurora, and the contract with Jax.

5. Fern and Omar move into the apartment. Fern says he already claimed the bedroom with a bath by spitting on the bed.

6. Omar begs Caro to get Aurora. She says it’s impossible. He says then he has to take desperate measures.

7. The HaHAs (Happy Hour Attorneys) check the contract (why FI’s HaHAs and not Conceptos’ atny?). They can’t find any escape from the contract.

8. The cuartel asks Saimon and Celso to be the beefcake show for the bachelorette party.

9. Omar presents Aurora to Jax, but Jax recognizes that she’s a fake. He leaves and demands the return of the advance plus penalty. Aldo fires Omar.

I know the client is named Jacques, but Jax is much easier to write, and I’m lazy.

Has Aldo given Lety any gifts since the flowers the morning after she chose him? It’s been 7 days.

Remember when Aldo wouldn’t let Lety pay him the $1.7M profit from the food expo? He claimed Conceptos needed capital for their next project. Right here we see why that’s a bogus argument. This campaign, as well as others in the past, gets an up-front payment from the agency for initial costs.

Paula: "why FI’s HaHAs and not Conceptos’ atny?"

Interesting question. If you mean why not the Conceptos attorney from when Lety returned from Acapulco, that guy's moot now because the FI attorneys then became the Conceptos attorneys. But by the same token, you'd think Aldo would have his own guy that he'd want to use now.

As for the bachelorette party... I cannot imagine asking any coworker, ever, no matter how attractive, to provide the beefcake entertainment for a bachelorette party. I am traumatized by the very thought. I'm pretty sure that HR would rake people over hot coals for something like that, anyway. (But since Lopez is HR at Conceptos, I can see how they'd get away with it.)

Now that we have met Tomas' mom, I can see why he would go for Alicia.
The two of them have the same personality! Tomas likes the bossy type. He equates that with love. AND in his eyes Alicia is a mamasota, grandota, woohoo woman. Everything bundled into one package.
I also like how Tomasa and Alicia seem to get along. Im thinking maybe Alicia's past is closer to Tomas' than we think. Plus, Im thinking Alicia "lost" her mom early and she sees a substitute in Tomasa.
The actress who plays Tomasa is really funny. Perfect casting.
Contrast that with the ridiculous casting of Juan Soler as Aldo. I still say if they would have gotten William Levy as Aldo, this whole board would understand Lety's indecisiveness.

Paula, thanks for the post. Funny scene at the retaurant with Lety and Thomas.

William Levy would be a better match for Lety, age-wise. But he wasn't a superstar 4 years ago. I think part of the reason they brought in Soler was to create real suspense as to whether Lety would end up with not-Fernando, because Soler was in a higher "weight class" than Camil in terms of stardom.

Bringing Soler on also meant a new batch of viewers who were staunch Soler fans that had no interest in Camil or Fernando or any of Lety's backstory, and they were quite vocal in asserting that Aldo HAD to win Lety.

I decided I'd be okay with that as long as Aldo somehow convinced me that he was the better match for Lety!

I wonder if Fern and Omar end up like the HaHAs. That could be some foreshadowing if Fern does lose Lety to Aldo and Omar never experiences real love. Moving in together may not be the smartest move these boys came up with. I have to say I like Tomasa and wish they brought her on board earlier instead of the other fillers.
And Julie do you not think Celso possibly moonlights as a stripper? He sure knows what he needs to do. I am sure they do not pay him enough at Conceptos, he sleeps on the job, and he is the buffest. though on the last one he may be tied with Luigi..
But then we already know the work ethic at Conceptos is very lax!

Question of the Day.
Who is your favorite non-romantic couple in Fea? For example, many people have said they enjoy seeing Fernando and Omar together. What couple is your favorite?

Luigi and Fernando. hands down.

they repeated the blooper Jaime slip up scene at the beginning of 267.

Ahh that's a tough question - if my fave non-romantic couple wasn't Fern and Omar I'd say Aldo and Fern. They are fun together and I love it when they tell each other to suffocate and die. It's charming. :) second fave is Tomasa and Alicia...I think they are a match made in heaven - why haven't we had more Tomasa before now - we could have totally cut the cuartel out...

I'm super tired today so I'll be brief...Aldo definitely wasn't so supportive today, but Lety you're really not going to do what you need to do to save the company and be Aurora? Just because you'd be caught in a lie...Omar really was able to sign a bad contract without having the company attorneys to review the paperwork? I swear this company should be sold immediately for stupidity. UGH.

I haven't had time to read the detailed recaps...the next few days will be insanely busy - my little sis has una boda on Saturday. :) Oh and speaking of boda's Alicia and Tomy are getting married soon...ha. I loved that Tomasa pushed her to do it because she was living in their house...I really sort of loved all of her scenes today. They made me laugh.

Oh and yes Aldo was sort of an arsehole today, but I was glad he fired Omar. Omar deserved it for making such a bad deal...I've never understood exactly what his role was at the company anyway...

Favorite Non-Romantic Couples?
1. Fern/Luigi
2. Alicia/Tomasa

Favourite 'non-romantic' couple...
I especially like Fern and Omar, of course.
I like Lety & Tomás--their special bond. Also Doña Julieta and Lety.
And, although they are few and far-between, I like Don Erasmo and Moty! jajaja

My number 1 choice is Fernando and Julieta. They're so marvelously sweet together.

But a close second, and I didn't recognize it until this time around, is Fernando and Alicia. Comic genius, sparks fly, they play off each other with abandon because each knows the other won't drop him/her.

Jenn - Celso as stripper - yes, quite plausible!

Paula - favorite non-romantic couple - Fern and Omar. Also Alicia and Fern, in their rare scenes together. She's one of the few people who can keep up with Camil when he goes off-script.

I have several favorite couples.
I love Fern and Omar together and also Fern and Alicia. But I think
Alicia and Luigi are also a hoot together.
Jenn

I also liked Fern and Julieta and Fern and Alicia... besides my fav Fern and Luigi.

loved how Fern felt so 'close' to Lety, trying to get her to explain her negativity to hire Aurora...
'Porr?...' it almost sounded like a cat purring lol sweet.

When Lety is with her mom, it seemed so realistic--then I found out it is her mom in real life--no wonder they seemed so connected.
