Cuando Me Enamoro #4 Monday 4/25/11 The Villa de Tijeras or The Blade Runner Cometh

Ahoy all, Cheryl had trouble posting so I am posting her recap for her. Take it away Cheryl...

Reviewing after the weekend:
Sisterly jealousy from Roberta to Renata, secret marriage plans between Rafa and Roberta, threatening mom that this will never be , omen to Renata of the man coming to change her life. more mom threats...

Is it a mistake to go back to Mexico, people don’t change thinks Matias but no one will deny him the the right to a reunion with his father. Memories of scissor Mom assuring him that his house is actually HER house, he will go back for his papa not scissoring monster mom. They discuss the vice presidency spot for sonny boy. Gonzalo is chided by his brother-in-law for his jealousy of Renata’s seeming interest in Rafa. He thinks that Gonzo stayed with Fina because of his love for Renata.

Plans are being made for the sale of Rafa’s vineyard’s first harvest (cosecha) and Rafa assures everyone he will bring his bride. Matilde wants a picture so she will recognize said bride. Rafa asks her to prepare to treat his bride as a queen which she is to him. hmmm, what is Matilde really looking for?

Gonzalo doesn’t want conflicts he only wants peace in his life. Fina is remembered with PASSION (I just knew she had a not-so-secret weapon to snare and keep this warm, loving man) and his desire to protect her and her two daughters. He wants Renata, Roberta and Matias to bring his dream of a united family and all be happy together. Once again we already see glimpses of how utterly deluded this man is. Not to mention that he is making no provision for a suitable role for Renata who actually contributes and works in the family business. Whereas, we don’t know if Matias will have even the remotest interest in working there but will be given the VP spot so Papa can demonstrate his undying love to the prodigal Matias.

Renata wants Mariachis in the garden as fitting tribute to the returning and her assistant discuss her not so secret love for Matias, everyone only a platonic love but for many years, how can you live so many years with an impossible love. Soon the love of your life will arrive. Renata thinks Matias won’t be fige in her, she will face the reality.

Proposal 25% more for the harvest than anyone else offers to Rafa from slick Augustin. They all grin, but Augustin seems to realize

Hop to Barcelona, Norea of the IUD fiasco arrives in a lobby and discusses his trip with Geronimo, begging for forgiveness of her mistakes about having his babies. She really wants him. He thinks Norea was not the girl meant for him (indicado), he adds, I think we are totally through. She hopes he will reconsider and come back to give her another chance.

Meanwhile back at Baja Napa, Augustin says he knows business better than Rafa, better than anyone. He can sell their wine harvest and provide the best introduction into the market so people will take then seriously. His idea is to promote the harvest for an artesanal, exclusive wine with lots of promise. Rafa’s partner (name?) indicates that Rafa has the final decision but no one else is going to offer them more for the first harvest. Augie says they won’t regret going along with him. His smirky face tells us he has found some easy marks that will be easy to dupe.

Regina strokes the old photo of her once idyllic family, Roberto, Regina I and II. She still cries over the loss of her love and her daughter. Egad, you are all right there are way too many ‘R’ names in this story.

Gonzalo returns home with Renata to celebrate the news of Matias’ return with Fina and she tells him to announce his good news Roberta who hugs him and is so pleased that his son is coming home. Gonzalo wants Roberta to help with the fiesta plans since Renata does so much at the office, Roberta at first looks hopeful at the friendly request from Gonzo but then shirks at his praise of Renata. Fina assures him she and Roberta will do all to make Matias the best homecoming ever. Hopefully he isn’t bringing his prize collection of soccer balls (futbols)...

Gonzolo tells of Rafa’s visit and teases that he might be stealing Renata. Roberta is starting to feel robbed of yet another love interest but can’t say anything. Mom kisses her head and whispers in her ear that hopes she has made a smart choice to listen to Mom about dumping Rafa.

Moments later they fight in pj’s about just that decision. Or maybe they are casual wear, hard to tell. FinaMom tells her she demands she terminate her relations with Rafa totally and now. OR ELSE.

On the phone, Roberta tells Rafa that things are complicated and she can’t marry him, her “parents” are totally against it. But your papa knows me and would welcome me. I will come ask him to his face (cara a cara) and tell him that I am worthy of you (digno de ti).

Roberta thinks they should elope and flee from (huir)everybody and everything. Rafa takes it as an affront to his honor and worth. This is not the way he does things and insists he will face her father to plead their right to pursue their love. Little does he guess who is really dangerous and Roberta doesn’t really tell him the truth that Gonzo actually doesn’t know anything about this relationship. Rafa snaps at Matilde that he isn’t hungry and she needs to leave him alone with his call . She hesitates so he has to say it again. More plot lines ********

In Barcelona, Jeronimo sees Norea of the secret IUD. She begs that she accepts that she did wrong. He cites, lying , lack of confidence and perhaps it is better to break off. She clutches him. Norea, we’ll talk when I get back. She begs him not to abandon her.

Roberta says get a clue (saca de onda). they won’t change their opinion since we have hidden ocultado the relationship It doesn‘t matter that dad will be annoyed . My parents feel betrayed (traicionados), my parents are making me break up with you so the only solution is for us to run off. Rafa insists that they have committed no sin (pecado). It would kill me to separate from you. Rafa swears revenge if they don’t want to accept him.

Matias stands at the airport in Madrid, yes he needs hair but how handsome he looks.

Matilda and her (brother?) in the kitchen discuss Rafa’s ill humor while munching on delicious looking food.

Renata is setting up the office for Matias with glass, metal and chic touches of red and is surprised by Gonzolo they laugh. He reports that Roberta and Fina dearest are preparing the prodigal son’s homecoming dinner. She wants to go with dad to the airport so Matias will know for sure how happy they all are (she is really) at his return.

Fina is talking with her confidante who will help her keep track of what Gonzolo is doing. Nothing has changed so far but he promises to keep her apprised of any movement.

A door bell rings and Roberta’s friend (?) comes in and goes up the stairs to see Roberta.

Back at the vineyard, Rafa is carving a heart with Roberta + Rafael in tree. Augustin comes with green folder where he has put his offer in writing insisting Rafa needs only to sign while Rafa remembers how Roberta said her “parents” have threatened that no one will buy his harvest. So he shakes hands with Augie who is more than pleased.

Roberta talks to her girlfriend (?) while packing all her perky party dresses saying her parents will never understand her love so she has no choice but to flee with her party clothes.

But your Mother will have a heart attack (infarto) when she finds out. Besides you don’t really love Rafa anyway. Roberta says Rafa will provide for her and give her an independent life (away from her “snippy” Mom) and this time the attention won’t be taken over by Renata.

Mom listens in the hall saying very well Roberta, we’ll see who will win. She snaps her little iphone/droid and lets the packing continue in the next room. ****

Adriana checks Renata’s makeup, and wonders why she is so nervous to see Matias. She tells her not to worry about the long childhood love for Matias, if this (grownup) love is real, his papa will approve. Everyone seems to already know that Fina won’t like any of it. Renata packs her things to leave the office for the day saying, Thanks for the therapy, Adriana feigns request for payment for her expert services.

Gonzalo comes home and thanks Fina for all her efforts then asks does she want to come to the airport with him. Oh, yes, but she begs off, she must stay and oversee the great preparations. Once alone, she curses Matias for returning and threatening her money, I mean.... family.

Gonzo is in the airport and calling Regina (notice how everyone has constant cell phone contact) who is on her way into the airport. In perfect synchronicity, we see Jeronimo deplaning from Barcelona, also moving through the airport toward the exit.

Fina curses some more and thinks she will figure out how to foil Matias’ plans to return and take all her millions.

Renata talks faster and faster as she nears Gonzalo and suddenly crashes into the arms of handsome Jeronimo as they topple onto the floor and they laugh and look interested in eachother. Renata talks faster and faster mostly saying that she is seeking her Papa. She leaves a bracelet and the white stone from Adriana behind on the floor which he stoops to pick up. Maybe he can see her again even though they don’t exchange names and it is Mexico City, but it’s also a telenovela so guess what I’m thinking ...

Regina in her therapist jacket is helping young Juan to walk and his mother thanks her with tears of gratitude.
Is this related to the Centro de Esperanza. Inez and her husband kiss over their success with this endeavor. More synchronicity in store for us.

Gonzalo and Matias meet with tears and hugs. How are you Papa, Gonzalo returns, finally, it’s been too much time, more hugs and tears. Here comes Renata. Matias can’t believe who is running toward them, they lock dewy eyes and Iglesias sings us out to the commercials. ****

The taxi driver asks Jeronimo, do you know Mexico? Yes, I was born here but havn’t been back for many years. The taxista says the city has changed and is more poluted but still has the world’s most beautiful women. Jeronimo remembers the beauty that just felled him to the floor minutes before with a smile.

Matias gives a reserved hug and they all talk about how much time. He tells Renata how beautiful she is. Dad gives him car keys and he asks Renata how to address her sister or step-sister (hermanastra) just Renata, is all she says.

Regina talks with Rosa about Jeronimo’s arrival. Rosa wishes she were 20 years younger to pursue such a hunk and encourages Regina to enjoy the opportunity. Regina sadly only hopes someday she will have her daughter at her side, then to make her a grandmother. She has a very rough drawing on the computer of what she might look like now and says for sure she is beautiful, with absolute sureness that she IS.

The airport greeting continues with memories and joking. Renata is nada rencoso, do you remember when your dad married my mom and you had to give us both bracelets? No you don’t remember. She starts to show him where she wears it all the time to this very day, but it isn’t on her wrist. She assures Matias that she still wears it and it was right there. He seems moved by her sentiment.

Jeronimo holds said bracelet, and wonders, he calls Rafa’s house and leaves a message with Matilde that he is in Mexico. Matilde swoons that she is in love with Jeronimo (I think, she is in love with love or maybe Rafa or maybe whoever calls next).

Next Jeronimo calls Regina, (this part is really confusing, how is it he knows her?) but they confirm plans for dinner, he will pick her up. They are both so glad to see each other. I am so glad my first hour is almost over, I am breathless too.

Rafa talks excitedly with the Padre, we are going to marry here in the pueblo, yes on Sunday. But there are things that have to be done, formalities (tramites) to be seen to. I don’t have time for the tramites. I won’t take a chance of losing her.

Jeronimo and Regina stop for a cappuccino and regular coffee at a sidewalk cafe. They talk about the woman that Rafa is planning to marry. Regina assures him that his brother has surely found a wonderful woman to love. She hasn’t had a love since Roberto and Jeronimo is suffering from Maria’s betrayal. Regina does remember Roberto’s betrayal of her although she mostly misses him.

Back at the Villa de Tijeras, Matias is greeting his Auntie, Uncle and all with joy and affection. Matias says hello Señora, cordially to all and stiffly to Mom, who invites him to be more familiar which he rejects as he reminds her of her insisting that he speak formally to her as a child. She nevertheless welcomes him significantly pausing on the word (OUR house). They all go in to the dinning room and she pauses on the stairs to say the real thought that he is indeed not welcome to HER house HERS, all hers, hers, I tell you....

Forward scenes look really bad for Rafa who argues about his rights to be with Roberta is told by Fina that Roberta is not for him and never will be. We see him have a run in with one of her blades, oops, she seems surprised that he falls to the ground and spurts blood.

I’ve run short on time to share photos this week, but here is a link to the show I will be in this weekend:

You are a doll, Cap'n, I am most grateful for the upload assist. Gotta run and frame some more photos for my show on Sat and Sun. but need to get this straightened out asap.

As a fan of Blade Runner your title made me putty in your hands. I'm thoroughly enjoying your recap right now. Good luck with your show and I'll comment again when I finish your recap.

Why is it that things always go haywire when we are in a rush?

Blade Runner is also one of my favorite movies too but I also have been thnking of Fina as Edward Scissorhands, the girl just can't seem to help herself.
I see some goofy errors in my recap, but alas can't get to them, oh well, coming back after about a year away has its price. Nighty night, now...

This is fun to get back to

Awesome recap Amiga. You know you had me with The Blade Runner Cometh. Macabre and funny at the same time. That Fina does have a nasty way with sharp objects. (By the way, I also love Edward Scissorhands too.)

Oh my, I think I have a huge gigantic crush on the slick and smirky Augustin. What a looker.

I got hungry when Matilda and her brother were munching. Made me want to dip a tortilla into a big pot of refried beans.

I love Jackie Garcia who plays Roberta's friend. I hope she has a somewhat substantial role in this show.

I wonder if Rafa's tree carving might become important sometime in the future? The camera seemed to make a big deal out of it.

Quite possibly my favorite line: "Maybe he can see her again even though they don’t exchange names and it is Mexico City, but it’s also a telenovela so guess what I’m thinking ..." That pretty much sums up our favorite shows. The completely implausible becomes de rigueur on a daily basis.

OMG your pictures are amazing! Thanks for the link.

"Hopefully he isn’t bringing his prize collection of soccer balls (futbols)...". ANd the morning coffee almost went all over the laptop. Too funny.

I agree with your keen abservation that we must park the beanie on the typical TN coincidences that brings our characters together. Reminds me of the movie Serendipity...

So if Nata is so in lurrvvv with Matias, wonder what makes her turn to Jero (except for the fact he's a cutie). I know he dupes her at first, but does Matias reject her or turn to someone else? Personally think he might be cute with Adriana in the long run.

Tree-yep, that has to play into things in future. If Jero hooks him with Nata to revenge his brother, and he takes over the vineyard, he finds the tree with other sis' name....That will probably be episode 100 before that happens.

Why does everyone always know the mother-*itch is evil except the poor dupe that marries her. Matias needs to just fess up to Gonzo what a drek he married and what she had done to drive him away. But NOOOOOOOOO...TN would end too soon.

Mathilde sort of bugs me, and I can't put my finger on why. And rather encouraging for her possible redemption that Gina also hates her mother, even if she cowers to her. What will drive her more, resentment of Nata or hatred of mumsy.

Welcome back CherylNewMex. Great detailed recap - I meant to look up sacar la honda, but you did it for me. Thanks.

I'm having a problem seeing Jeronimo as the main galan in this novela. He just doesn't seem to have the right stuff.

As for Pepa/Fina - some people just don't know when they are well off. And, how can Gonzalo be so dumb? As the story unfolds and unfolds, Gonzalo will get it just before the last capitulo - if he doesn't have an accident before then.

Gonzalo = Noel Vidal. Is this new typecasting for Rene Casados? Here's hoping Gonzalo has a light-bulb moment before his lights are snuffed out.

Augustin was Federico in CS2009, so he's running true to form. He looks much better with this haircut.

Fina just oozes evil all over. I've never seen this actress before but it looks like this is her forte.

Predicting her end: Vive para tijeras, muere para tijeras.

Thanks for the recap Cheryl. I missed a bit of it so your recap was very helpful.

Muchas gracias, Cheryl. Great recap, complete with snark and Spanish.

You referred to some errors you'd made in the recap, so I guess you already know that in the early part of the recap (but not later on) you refer to Jeronimo as Carlos and Norea as Maria. Geez, their names don't even start with R!

Speaking of Rs, like you and many others, I can't get my brain to sort out all the R names. I can understand why the plot requires the two girls (Roberta and Renata) to have R names and R bracelets, but why Regina I and Rafael?

Cheryl, I too wonder how Jeronimo knows Regina I. Also, I keep failing to recognize Regina I; she seems too young-looking for the role.

Daisynjay, I agree with your prediction about how the tree carving will play out in the plot.

Good Morning All, Thanks for the support and chiming in, it keeps the recapper's world twirling you know.

I am wondering if the obviously significant tree carving will lead Jeronimo to discover who killed his brother Rafa. Notice that no one seems to know of the romance between Roberta and Rafa, except Scissor Mom, and RAfa and Roberta themselves. Regina and Gonzolo don't know because Rafa was going to come back and announce a surprise. Matilde and people at the hacienda don't know the novia's name and I don't think he even told bro' Jero the name Roberta.

Cheryl, how nifty that you're back and what a wonderful recap heralding your return. It appears that this show suits you just fine.

I really like the actor playing Rafael so it was inevitable that they would knock him off early on as it appears in the previews.

I already don't care for Jerry so I suspect that he'll be around to the end.

Got a glimpse of Meester James (Distilando Amor), who looks just like my grandson... hope he's around for awhile.

I think that Regina is strikingly beautiful. I don't recall having seen this actress before.

Old Augie seems very sinister but what is the problem with him buying the crop at a good price? I must be missing something.

I don't recall meeting Gonzo's wife. Did we ever get to meet her?

And as for Jerónimo... he ditches his girlfriend because she had an IUD... they are not married... he feels betrayed because she didn't want to get pregnant... and I'm expected to see him as a sympathetic character? ¿Qué?

Carlos

When his friend said He thinks that Gonzo stayed with Fina because of his love for Renata. Gonzo said 'hay algo cierto de eso' or stte, meaning he acknowledges that his friend is at least partly right...
Urban... TOtally agree on your prediction of Fina... 'he who lives by the scissor, dies by the scissor (or blade at the least)...

ITA that the tree carving, if it indeed spells out the name Roberta, will be the culprit... I am wondering what was that paper that Fina was faxing... is that taking the place of the 'letter' for Rafa that she sends in the name of Roberta?

And about the relationship between Jeronimo and Regina I... Regina and her friend were discussing that Jeronimo's dad was one of the main contributors to their charity organization, and that once the man died, they did not expect Jeronimo to follow along but he did and then some! so I bet Regina I and Jeronimo know each other enough to be able to go out casually for a dinner or coffee... I would expect Jeronimo to be at least 10 yrs older than Rafa (given the picture he was holding at some point with them and their mother...) so Jeronimo might be a few yrs younger than Regina I but not much so it is feasible...

I also wonder of the changes they have already placed from the original La mentira... making Fina the main brain behind the crimes and making Roberta not so evil (again, so far... we will see from here on out)...
I totally agree on Sebastian Zurita (Humberto Zurita and Christian Bach's son) doing a great job here...
and David de la Mota, well, we saw him talking to Jero in Spain, so i wonder if he will be come a 'James' type character who comes to 'help out' Jero at the hacienda for a while and ends up staying. I definitely would love to see him regularly from here on out.

Hola otra vez. I just came upon a site that offers Spanish transcripts of several days' worth of Cuando Me Enamoro, including the current episode (I'm not sure whether they're full transcripts, but they're pretty extensive). MOREOVER, if you click on "View more from this channel," you can also get transcripts for Triumfo, Teresa, and some others on Univision! The URL for the current transcript of Cuando is http://www.livedash.com/transcript/cuando_me_enamoro/1428/KDTV/Monday_April_25_2011/586977/

About Matias' mother, I only remember Gonzalo being with his sister in early scenes, I think Matias mother was supposed to be in Spain already. At least Fina didn't cause the break up. I guess the experiment of Gonz keeping Matias with him didn't work well at all for Matias given Fina's ill will and determination to get the money and all of Gonzo's attention for her and her daughter. His penchant for Renata seems to mildly irritate her but it was probably too risky to challenge his natural and intense adoration of Regina so she pouts a bit but seems to tolerate it. Roberta doesn't seem to have the same work ethic that our little Cinderella-Renata. I love de la Mota too. I hlpe he has a bigger part but I fear it will take the demise of our wonderful Rafa before he is called on to support his friend in Mexico.

Juanita, Thanks for the transcript link. I can't explore it much today but I think it will be helpful in checking up on some of the dialog.

Thanks Cheryl for the recap & thanks Cap'n for helping with the posting.

"Villa de tieras" very amusing.

I was afraid I couldn't move quickly from Aldo on Fea to Jeronimo but so far no problem. I liked Aldo and Im a sucker for Jero's smile. I agree with Carlos that the abrupt dumping of Norea was a bit harsh but it sounds as if there were other problems besides her letting him believe that they were trying to have a child when she was in fact on birth control. But that's a pretty big thing to lie about if you know the partner is really hoping for a child.

I'm also hoping we see more of David de la Mota and Roberta's girlfriend.

Güera from Syra-cuse

Cheryl, I corrected those errors that Juanita pointed out. Let me know if you want anything else changed.

Urban Anthro, thanks for reminding me where I had seen Augustin. I didn't finish watching Corazon Salvaje but I do remember seeing him in it. I think he also had a bit part in Juan Querendon.

Carlos, I think we will likely get to see a fair bit of Meester James since he's in the introduction. I hope anyway, I like him.

I imagine Fina will be like Fedra in Llena (sans pizazz), where everyone knows she's horrible but nobody does anything about it until the last episodes. Especially Gonzo as it seems the husbands hang onto their cuckold status for dear life.

"Baja Napa", good one Cheryl!

Thanks, Cheryl! Your return to recapping makes us just as excited as Gonzo was for Matias's return!

I'm so proud of Rafael for sticking to his guns. He keeps fighting for a future with Roberta rather than roll over when things get tough. He's my favorite galan at the moment too but if Blade Runner Fina has anything to say about it, he's toast. Qué lastima!

My fingers are crossed for Gonzo too. Hopefully he'll have an epiphany about Fina before she turns her scissors onto him. She needs him now for the money and status but sometimes the scissors want what the scissors want...

I like Jero a little bit more after his talk with Regina. Maybe the longer he's around the more I'll warm up to him.

-Amy

Are those your bird paintings? Dang!

Audrey

P.S. Thanks for the recap!

Cheryl, Audrey's admiration for your bird paintings made me take another look. I had assumed they were fantastic photos rather than fantastic paintings. I've looked again, and I really am not sure. I AM sure that they're terrific!!

Thanks for liking my birds, amigos mios. Yes they are real photos and other than dust removal and color adjustmants, everyone was really doing what they seem to be doing, even the three green crowned brilliants were really in a row like that. I am printing photos today for the show and getting all nostalgic about Costa Rica all over again. I am hoping to make my third trip there next winter somehow combined with my fourth trip to Oaxaca.

So was Aldo the gay designer guy on LFMB? I can't remember even though I like the actor and yes, he is adorable, but I think Jeronimo is about to get difficult after he charms the lights out of everyone.

Juanita and Sylvia, Thanks again for the recap rescue. It is frustrating to not be able to edit. I seem incapbable of seeing certain errors until after they are published! It was like that eons ago when I was writing term papers too which came well aftr quill pens but before computers which I love for their forgiving nature of preserving the good and erasing the bad.

Thank you Cheryl and welcome back to telenovelaland! I like this show so far but admit I'm somewhat confused. It's still very new, though. Forgive me if this was corrected, but what does this mean? "Roberta is told by Fina that Roberta is not for him and never will be." Him who? Rafa? So it looks like since the romance between Roberta and Rafa was secret but Renata knew Rafa and he was going to be associated with the family business Geronimo is going to think Renata was the promised novia behind Rafa's death and hate her through most of the show? Perhaps Fina--and Roberta will feed this misunderstanding? Maybe I'll take a look at that transcript!

Khalilah

Hi Khalila, if we are to believe the original intro that Marta translated for us then yes, the whole point of this show is that Geronimo will believe that Renata was Rafa's girlfriend and was responsible for his death. Knowing Fina and Roberta as we do through just the three episodes I would agree with you that these two will feed that misunderstanding.

Cheryl: Terrific title! Great recap and I love the little nicknames!

Thanks, Sylvia, I guess I stopped reading Marta's intro because it was so excellent with her translation of the little preview video vignettes I felt Univision was giving away the whole show! Well, that being said, I guess this show is not going to be long on huggin' and kissin' and lovin' hunh? Oh well, I hope Gero isn't too hateful with Renata, by watching this show, I've finally forgiven "Aldo"! ;-)
