La Fea Más Bella #283-284 4/5/11 One Kiss Changes Everything
Capitulo 283.

1. Aurora and Fern both refuse to kiss. Fern assures Lety’s picture that it’s only acting, and he has to do it to pay the debt. Lety doesn’t want to betray Aldo, but the company needs it.
2. Fern moves toward Aurora and whispers, “Forgive me, Lety.” The kiss has six distinct stages:
A. He starts with a granny-kiss because he doesn’t want to betray his love for Lety.
B. He smells/tastes/feels that it’s Lety, so he kisses her intensely.
C. She responds to his intense kiss; she gets involved.
D. This drives him into ecstasy (remember he can feel her love with every kiss), he ratchets up.
E. This pushes all Lety’s buttons, she kisses more intensely. She grabs his shoulders and pulls him in tighter. I think this is the first time Lety has actively steered any kiss, rather than being just a receiver.
F. Then they stop and gaze a moment, stunned, before springing apart.
3. Fernando can’t shake the impression that he kissed Lety. He can’t contain himself and babbles to Omar. Aurora was in front of him, but when they kissed, he felt she was Lety. Lety says, in wonder, “He kissed me. Don Fernando kissed me,” just like their first kiss at the antro. She admits that it moved her, but she worries that Aldo saw HOW Fern kissed her. Aldo thinks Fern put the kiss in the script on purpose. Luigi corrects him: Fern didn’t write the kiss part.
4. Omar sees Caro and gets tongue-tied. After she leaves he thinks of all the things he should’ve said, “I want to be with you again. I want to be with you forever.” Caro tells herself she was a fool for believing that Omar would declare his love.

6. Luigi tells Fern he deserves a bonus for giving Fern a chance to kiss Aurora. He finds Aurora’s note, “I can’t kiss you anymore because I would be betraying the man I love.” Fern says, “I remember when Lety loved me like that.”
7. Fern tells Lety that he had to kiss Aurora in the shoot, but he felt like he was kissing Lety, like they were the same person. Probably because he misses Lety so much. Maybe he’s falling in love with Aurora. Lety says that would be a very bad idea. He stoops in his flirting spot and says it was hard to flirt with Aurora because she doesn’t like him much. He leaves and she tries hard to convince herself that the kiss didn’t mean anything to her, but she can’t stop herself from saying, “Don Fernando, tan divino.”
8. There is annoying Ali / Tomy stuff all through the next several caps. I’m not going to summarize it and you can’t make me!
9. Omar doesn’t understand why Caro is indifferent after they shared a marvelous night. Fern says he should ask her, but Omar’s not willing to open himself after Aurora’s rejection. Caro mopes. Omar wonders what he can give Caro to show how he feels.

1. Lety talks to Aldo in her grown-up voice and gives him a passionate kiss, but that’s only because she’s thinking of Fernando’s kiss.
2. The cuartel says Fernando has won Aurora. Aldo thinks it’s great if they get together (6 times), and it’s wonderful that Fern is trying to fall in love again. The cuartel gushes about the kiss.
3. Lety tells Tom she’s going to kill Aurora. Fern is falling in love with Aurora, and she doesn’t want him to suffer any more (it never bothered her before!). She’s scared that if Aldo finds out, he’ll dump her.
4. The cuartel takes Marta to a compulsive eaters meeting.
5. Lety tells Aldo she can’t have dinner with him because of the press conference. Aldo whines but agrees to go, and he invites the Padillas. Lety tells Caro that Aurora will never appear again (7 times).
6. Jax (Jacques) tells PhG the press conference is a dud. They need something exciting. PhG says to create a scandal with Aurora’s absence. He broadcasts that Aurora disappeared and they fear for her life. Lety is relieved because now Aurora can die.
7. Omar buys Caro a necklace. In the studio, he stammers that he wants to go to her house tonight. She concludes he only wants a bedwarmer. He says he wants to be with her, and Caro pulls away. Omar says she must think he’s the same old Don Juan, and he leaves. She says to herself, “You can’t tell me you love me because you don’t feel it.”
8. Omar asks Marcia for advice about Caro. She says the same as Fern: he needs to tell Caro how he feels. Fernando sees the front page story – Aurora has disappeared and is presumed dead.
9. Carmina tells Aldo that her dad has a yacht in Puerto Vallarta and Aldo can use it.

Well, what did you think of The Kiss, friends???
In other news... Lety gives Aldo what is only her second passionate kiss of their entire relationship. The first was on the beach. Both times, it was because she was thinking of Fernando. Buy a clue, Tutz! She shifts her attention back to Aldo, and she goes back to baby talk and baby kisses. The next words we hear are Paula telling the cuartel, “It’s obvious that Aurora muera por (is dying for) Don Fernando.” Even the clueless cuartel can see it!

Today's kiss was dreamy! I loved the cap especially Fern post-kiss. Did you see his look when he was talking to Aurora and thinking about what he'd said to Omar about her? Ahhh Fern WAS tan divino today. He knows his Lety and I was so happy to finally see some movement in this Aurora storyline...
LOL at your - we can't make you recap the Alicia/Tomas moments. Thanks for not doing it! I barely pay attn to those moments anymore so tiresome.
When you compare Auroralety & Fern's kiss to Lety's kiss with Aldo's later - it's in these moments that you know she just can't marry Aldo.
I'll be back later for more comments... but I'm glad that I have the dvd's so I can always re-watch today's caps...because this is hands down probably one of my faves...

Oh one other thing...
Loving the way they make Lety and Fern coordinate with their clothes colors. They pop together on set, in essence highlighting the two characters.
In contrast, Aldo never "matches" with Lety.

Interesting comment about the matching and mismatching wardrobes for Lety & her lovers. I'll have to watch for that.
The kiss and its aftermath are the best thing to happen in weeks. It's very funny that Fernando has the evidence of the picture and the evidence of the kiss but he hasn't made the leap yet to believing that Aurora IS Lety.
What do you all think Jacques has up his sleeve? What "escandalo" does he have in mind?

Good observation about the clothes, Diann! I hadn't noticed, but you are right. Lety and Fern are a matched set!
However, Aldo doesn't ever seem to "match" with anyone... at least I hope no one else at Conceptos has an "Academy of Jeans" jacket!

Thanks for the recaps Paula. Just got home from work and am watching them now. I loved how Fern was doing the eye tick test on "Aurora". Julie the only one Aldo matches in wardrobe is Thomas. What does that tell you.
Speaking of I am not a big Thomas/ Alicia fan either.
Really enjoy it when Fern goes over to Lety at her desk and gets so very close!! It gives me goose bumbs!!!!

Wow, what a kiss!! Even thinking about kissing Fernando while kissing Aldo doesn't generate that much heat in Lety. She's more confused than ever. But I think Fernando is catching on. Aldo, of course, doesn't have a clue and will be furious when the truth is revealed. And that is what I think Jax is talking about with the scandal. He knows Aurora is Lety and he's going to reveal it. Fernando will take the news with good grace but Aldo will blow his stack. Look how he got ticked that his plans for the night with Lety weren't going to come about. He makes plans but never consults her; just expects her to fall in line with what he has decided. A woefully inadequate judger of character is that man and I use that term loosely.
From the previews, it looks like Julieta confronts Aldo with Lety's feelings for Fernando. Boy do I hope so.
As far as I'm concerned, if we never had anymore of Tomas and Alicia, it would be okay. That storyline is so obviously filler and it's a good thing I have a DVD and can fast forward through it.
Looking forward to the romance between Omar and Caro blossoming. He has met his match in her. He doesn't know how to share his feelings, but Omar will have to learn if he hopes to catch Caro permanently.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

Fave line from the first old recap: (Oh Fern, you dumbass. I love you, but you're a dumbass.) Julie - you have such a way with words! hahahaha
I thought Fern might be catching on and at first I thought he was going to just mess with Aurora and try to win her over to his side without alerting her that he knew who she was...there was a lot of subtext to the questions he was asking her in his dressing room. In fact that was actually quite a lovely scene with them, especially after she receives that phone call from Aldo.
Now I'll have to watch for the clothes, but I do recall Lety had on that lavender colored suit today. Also very funny the observation that Tomas and Aldo always match.That definitely is not a good sign.
I think that Jax character is super smart if he's the one that actually blows the lid on this whole Aurora storyline...maybe the crack reporter has been spying a lot more stealthily and noticed that Lety and Aurora are never in the same place at the same time (or better yet caught her making one her quick changes).

Wow WOw WOW! What a kiss! As noted, way too short, thank goodness for rewind. I like how Fernando actually entertained the thought that Aurora is Lety. Usually in telenovelas that sort of awareness is completely absent. Not for our Don Fernie.
Somehow in the midst of fast forwarding through Ali and Tom I caught that Alicia complimented Lety on looking good in Orange. Lety was wearing a lavender jacket but Aurora was wearing orange earlier. Could airhead Alicia have somehow picked up on...? Nah! No way. I don't think she even saw Aurora.
I smiled a big one when Julieta commented to herself that she excited to see her ex son-in-law, Fernando. She's definitely on Team Fernando big time.

I missed making a point earlier when I commented. Did you catch Fernando saying, Perdonme Lety, right before he kissed Aurora? Lety had this taken back look on her face and then entered into the kiss with abandon. Maybe it's all not clicking in her head right now, but Fernando saying Perdonme before kissing Aurora has got to get Lety thinking. And then the passionate kiss that she helped perpetuate, even for a short time, at some point has to clue her in that her feelings for Fernando are still powerful. When she kissed Aldo and thought of her kiss with Fernando, she pulled back abruptly with a What the Heck look on her face. I think Julieta will be the one to help Lety put all the pieces together and I think she starts by confronting Aldo on Monday. It is obvious that Caro is truly on team Fernando. She took great pleasure in watching Lety and Fernando in the deep clench.

Yes that was a really sweet moment when Fernando asked Lety's pardon for kissing Aurora -- even though he has every right to kiss anyone he wants. It was also cute that he asked Aurora to close her eyes so he could use the doctored "Lety-fied" picture to inspire him to go through with the kiss just as he used to need a picture of some beauty to inspire him to kiss Lety.

Just read the detailed recaps and realized I missed a lot of the conversation with Jax, Paparazzi Guy and Luigi in that last scene. I remember thinking that Jax has been playing hard this entire time with Conceptos and they've bent over backwards to accommodate him and his insane requests. I think that if Conceptos were a real business they would have called him on his BS earlier on - now they are stuck in business with this super shady guy!
I now have no idea about what Jax actually plans to do, but I'm not sure my earlier theory of revealing Lety as Aurora still holds up now. I think Jax has become the villain of this piece...
I also missed the press conference earlier today when I was watching. I thought they just jumped to Lety with her parents in the bedroom after the meeting in the boardroom, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention - that happens when I get bored with the filler stuff (Alicia, Tomy, the cuartel).
I now have no idea about what Jax actually plans to do, but I'm not sure my earlier theory of revealing Lety as Aurora still holds up now. I think Jax has become the villain of this piece...

Jax is a super slick businessman and as usual the slightly dimwitted folks at Conceptos are in over their heads. It will be interesting to see how the Fox manipulates the press and Conceptos and I really wouldn't want to be around if he ever discovers the truth about Aurora. He isn't the kind of man who likes being fooled as witness the time Omar tried it.
You just knew that Omar would muck things up with Caro. He is in over his head and instead of being the smooth operator he always was he is tripping over his tongue. Interesting that he can't tell Caro how he feels but isn't having trouble telling other people which is the exact opposite of how Fern was.
GP Caro and Omar have been friends for a long time and she knows him very well. It is surprising that she would look for a declaration from him but it may be wishful thinking on her part. She knows full well that the Aurora thing was just a silly crush but she also knows Omar is just beginning to recognize his feelings. Just as he is messing things up she is too by giving him the wrong signals. In any event it is much more fun to watch them then Lety with her baby talk and trying to convince herself she loves Aldo. Ali and Tomy have now replaced the cuartel as the most annoying people on earth but the gossip girls are still a close second.

How can Lety resist Fernando and stay with Aldo? Well, remember how long it took Fern to fall for Lety? Even before the romance, he gave those warm looks but never thought of her as a woman. Then in the false romance, they were happy together, but still love was out of the question. Hippy Ed tried to enlighten him; no dice. Even after he fell in love at the hotel, he had no idea he it was love until she rejected him. Now it has come full circle. She is in love with him and she won’t let herself face it. But little by little, Fern is melting the ice, drop by drop. Today’s “tan divino” was one big crack in her wall. Thinking about Fern as she was kissing Aldo was another. It took Fern 144 caps to comprehend that he loves Lety. I’m sure Lety will come out of the fog much faster than that.
Notice Lety’s worries about Aurora. She worries that Fern will be hurt, and she worries that Aldo will be angry and dump her. Either:
A. she thinks Aldo won’t be hurt, or
B. she cares more about Fernando’s hurt, or
C. Her fear over Aldo dumping her overshadows any compassion she might have.
Notice how much her behavior with Aldo is motivated by fear.

Good point, Paula. To back up your statement about Lety's relationship with Aldo is based on fear, look back at when he got so very mad about the writing on the sidewalk. Lety had fear written all over her face and she went into her baby talk and needy mode. That quieted Aldo as well as the car erasing the saying. Imagine living with someone that you had to walk on eggshells around all the time. No wonder Aldo's first wife left him. Diann, those damned pencils drove me crazy! The green ones were showing up in other telenovelas around that time too, but I'm mystified by their abrupt disappearance from Conceptos. Maybe the cast/crew took them all as mementos as they approached the final weeks of shooting?

Julie, Laughing over the pencil obsession which I've ben commenting on. I love those green pencils and have noticed them in other novelas since them. It is like those wooden watermelon slices that used to show up all the time. My own feeling is that because we have to focus so intensely on what is going on, to understand what is being said that all the minutiae we would normally ignore gets caught. It is also why we notice breaks from character.

Deciegirl, there was a lamp in the old Buck Rogers TV series that I'm pretty sure showed up in every single episode (different place every week). When something is distinctive-looking - like a bright-green pencil - you can't miss it. And after you've noticed it once, it jumps out at you every time afterwards.
I am actually more likely to notice these things when a character is rehashing something or beating a dead horse. Then my attention wanders. When I'm being more attentive, my eyes are focused on the action or the person's face or the captions (or darting frenetically between all these things) and I miss EVERYTHING else. There could be a tribble on Lety's shoulder and I would never notice.
