Triunfo del Amor #85 4/5/11 And the Story Drags On...

From last night (See NovelaMaven's fabulous recap from yesterday for full deets):

  • Vic gets strong (gets strong gets strong)
  • Max is dismissed (is dismissed is dismissed)
  • The sound crew has fun with their echo machine (echo machine echo machine)
Part the 1st
  • The Vecindad prepares for baby Israel's bautizo
  • Oscar has the PI's report about Gonzalo and his wife (Vic had to ask him to repeat it...slowly...she must have a recap to do, too.) Oscar doesn't see how they connect to Burnie, but Vic thinks Eva can help. Oscar just needs to cover for her while she goes to talk to her.
  • Eva spills all kinds of frijoles: Gonzalo's engaño, Burnie's illegitimate child...and the fact that Gonzalo is JPs real baby daddy, but JP doesn't know that. Not to mention the fire she started.
  • JuanJo vists Linda's grave (whoever paid for the headstone could only afford "Linda." I guess "Sortini" was too long.)
  • Toni, Pip and Oscar try to warn Vic about Rox and the conversation descends into warm-fuzzies of support and love (We love you Vic! We won't leave) then moves on to whining and self-pity (I have no money and my daughter will need lots of operations.)
  • Os watches Vic ascend the stairs of their once happy home.
  • Alonso shows off pictures he took of María. (His musical theme has fairly strong classy-but-still-porno film vibe.)
  • Xi makes me puke.
  • Oh, I guess you want to know why. She is still scheming. She says she knows deep down that Max still feels a little something for her and she promises she will take care of herself  'cause there is nothing she wants more than the bebé.
  • Alonso gets filled in, too. (We all know the story. I bet he won't have to deal with three weeks of two-hour episodes, though.)
  • María tells JP she thinks she should leave the D.F. Alonso tries to dissuade her. JP looks a little like a jealous dad (or maybe disapproving.)
Part the 2nd
  • Vic crawls into bed and thoughtbubbles: Osvaldo, me haces tanta falta (I need you so much.)
  • Well speak of the devil! In comes Os. He is solicitous and busts some moves (he's not particularly smooth about it, though.)
  • Crap. Who kissed who first? I can't tell! Comment fodder!
  • Stripping and snapshot sound effects (*snort* Really, sound crew?)
  • Vic comes to her senses, kicks him out and utters the worst thing possible to say to a lover in Telenovelaland "Yo ya no te amo" (I don't love you any more.)
  • Later-Os asks Max to keep the news of the divorce from Fer.
  • Add eavesdropping and scheming to the list of reasons why X-factor makes me puke.
  • Max tells Os about Burnie's takeover.
  • Burnie has some major mierda up her sleeve and Max is in her crosshairs.
  • Cruz asks for time off to go to the bautizo. Max asks if Maria will be there. Cruz nicely tells Max to leave María alone (Qué será de ti plays in the background...wasn't that used for Sorteligio?)
  • Holy crap, please, somebody, anybody...SLAP THE STEW out of X-Factor. She complains to Fer that Max is more interested in her, AND she says Vic is having problems and that FER should have a little consideration for others, PLUS she lets the divorciado gato out of the bag...and you *know* it was on purpose! Grrr! And then she's all like "You didn't know? Oh that's right, you're the victim and you don't know anything." OH MY DOG...SHE EVEN SAYS FER IS TO BLAME. La culpa la tienes tú (It's your fault) Can we say the B word here? What's the rule on that?
Part the 3rd
  • Vic and Os have the same argument they've been having for weeks. Eventually though, Vic asks Os to stay for the sake of Fer...and she promises not to humiliate him any more. They will live in the house like two strangers (como dos extraños)
  • Poor Fer believes the baloney that Xi served up and calls for her Dad. No answer. Micaela! No answer. She struggles out of bed. (Livia Brito does a great dead leg) and drags herself to her door.
Part the 4th
  • Fer drags herself.
  • She continues to drag herself.
  • Yup. Still dragging...but now she's calling for papá.
  • The Bautizo! What a beautiful service.
  • Cruz lip-syncs the Ave Maria
  • OMG?!, did Alonso just give María Desamparada a "come hither look?" ...at a bautizo?! Bad form Lon...tsk tsk.
  •  Fer has made it to the hallway...now she's calling to Max
  • She has made it to the top of the stairs when Fab and Micaela rush to her aid.
  • Fab cradles her in his arms and comforts her. Back off, buddy...Fer is for Cruz. (I suspect the competition between these two guys will be a "lighter" story to offset the "heavy" we are going to go through.)
  • The bautizo is over...on to the party!
  • María stays behind and do something...light a candle for her child? Did anyone catch that? Alonso offers to go with her, but Maria declines. Alonso says ok, but wants to take a picture of her first.
  • Max shows up. The huge bunch of flowers hides her baby bump.
  • Theme song plays, María blesses him, he kisses her hand. We get more of the same dialogue we've heard for weeks. He makes more empty promises and moves in for a kiss. María stops him. She asks him to leave. More Thalía and close ups.
  • Fab is tucking in Fer. He wants to know what she was thinking? Blah blah
  • Fer says she was desperate and tells Fab about Xi's vicious words. She feels useless. She doesn't want to spend the rest of her days as an invalid.
  • Fab tells Fer she can lean on him (figuratively) and she doesn't have to go through it alone.
  • Os comes in. Fab leaves.
  • Fer doesn't want any secrets and  point blank asks if Os and Vic are divorced. Close up on Os. Percussion in the background.
  • Toni and Vic talk. Viewerville is supposed to infer that they are talking about the kiss Vic and Os shared. Toni-This means... Vic-No. It doesn't mean anything. It was a moment of weakness. Toni-Look, chica. If you were about to give yourself to him it's because you still love him. Vic doesn't really answer.
  • Luci interrupts. Burnie wants to see Vic...NOW. Toni gets up to go with her. Luci says no, JUST Vic.
  • More bautizo celebration-JuanJo throws candy.
  • María asks Max not to seek her out. It would be best for everyone. If they were meant to be together, then they would be.
  • Alonso comes to help María. He's all "dude, you need to leave" Max is all "dude, I'm talking to my woman. Stay out of it." Lon is all "dude, she doesn't want to see you. Look how much she's hurting." A kid from the barrio is all "Dudes! They are going to fight!" JP is all "Dude, chill! What are you doing here?" Max is like "Dude, I'm here to see the woman I love!" JP is "Dude, you gotta go!" Maria says "Dude, please leave."
  • Vic enters Burnie's office. She gets to meet her new boss.
  • It's Padilla!!!
Consider the Kayak cued.

Avances

  • Vic slaps Padilla!
  • Os confesses!
  • Ximena and MamaRox Scheme!
  • María comes back to the Casa de Modas!

Sara excellent recap i'm still LOL from the B question.

Yeah when you're dealing with a heifer like XXX-factor throwing a couple of b!tches here and there to describe this skank is necessary and ok. Wow is she just odious and Fabian let me down he should have told Os what got Fer so upset.

What Maria wanted to do is dip her hand in the baptismal water i guess to bless her pregnancy and then Max came up to her from the back and ask her to bless him also.

Please tell us they are not trying to hide Maria E.'s pregnancy? C'mon already and get this part of the story exposed please.

So let me get this correct Victoria is still upset and angry over Maria E.'s supposed betrayal of not telling her that her husband was cheating on her with her roommate? But it's ok for Roxana to backstab her in the back with Bernie and she doesn't see that as a being a traitor which she has called Maria E. numerous times? Id did say she needs her own special padded room right next to Bernie and XXX-factor.

Fantastic recap Sara! Gosh you ladies are awesome.

Xi is the WORST. Who would ever say that stuff to someone that just went through what Fer did? Horrible.

Sara - well done and thank you! Snark factor was very high and entertaining in this recap. Draggin on indeed. It was another Very Boring Meh-jía Episode. Ximena bores me the most. Gah!

Cruz sang Ave Maria, eh? I hope it wasn't that same off-key recording from FELS, that makes babies cry and dogs howl. There's another Ninth Circle of Hell. Glad I slept through it.

I didn't notice that Linda's headstone had no last name. Maybe they kept it easy for JuanJo to read? Golfa that Linda was, it's probably a pauper's grave and the county budget doesn't have enough $$$ to fund apellidos on that big-honkin' headstone.

And Alonso was macking on MD/E at the baptism? Que tacky!

Oh, Blu! That is one thing that drives me nuts in all TNs. No one calls the villain on their BS. All Fab (and Fer) had to do was tell Os what Ximena said and that would be it. But noooooo. They keep quiet.

I've given up trying to understand Vic. It's a lost cause.

Alicia Sophia-I was ENRAGED with X-factor last night. Such.a.bitch.

Doris-Having not seen FELS, I don't know if it was the same Ave Maria. I would guess yes because I'm pretty sure I've heard STuD incidental music and I think Que Sera de Ti was used in Sorti. So I'm pretty sure they are recycling music.

Also, I *think* Lon was macking. I tend to misinterpret facial expressions...but it was a pretty distinct "How you doin'?" (a la Joey in Friends) kind of look.

I want to take a moment to give credit to 5ft for my "Dude" literary style. It is just so appropriate when those two start their posturing that I had to use it.

....but it was a pretty distinct "How you doin'?" (a la Joey in Friends) kind of look.
That is a word picture you painted very well. roflol

Thank you Doris! It's hard to explain how my mind works and that was the best way I could describe it.

Sara~~~Thanks so much for that fun recap. Dude, it was most excellent. Gee, Os's skilz are getting rusty...I thought that he would n..e..v..e..r get that sweater unbuttoned. Not smooth. It took so long to get the sweater off that Vicky had a chance to change her mind. By the way, was anyone else helping Fer drag herself on that carpet ? No ?... just me then. I think she'll end up with Cruz, but I would choose Fab Fabian. Actually, Padre Hottie is at the top of my list. Where has this guy been all my life ? I haven't seen him before, and I've been watching novelas for a couple years. I must add him to my list of telenovios : Fernando Colunga, Big Ed Yanez, Marcelo Cordoba, Padre Hottie

My list is Diego Olivera then Fernando Colunga. I haven't watched TNs long enough to have anyone else. ;-)

Ximeana definitely gets off on other people's misery because there is no other explanation possible for her treatment of Fer.

Does anyone else think that Ximeana is primarily calculating before crazy? I personally think she started out faking the crazy and is being paid back by actually becoming so.

I'm on board with the confusion about why nobody calls her on her crap. Fer would if she weren't so vulnerable at the moment, but Fabian's lapse was pure stupidity. He knows enough about her from Max that he should have been outraged enough to tell Osvaldo (whom I don't think has witnessed enough of this BSC's behavior to realize how grave this situation is).

Livia Brito was great in the crawling scene.

Yes, that was the same recording used in FELS. You'd think they'd want him to re-record it. I can't remember perfectly, but I think Franco Reyes was supposed to be crying the first time he sang "Ave Maria". Based on Pablo's CD's he should have a better recording of this.

BTW, he can sing through real tears. The first time I saw him in concert he cried while singing "Cruz de Olvido." He has the best version of this song ever.

I didn't see in the avances whether Max was present in that meeting, but if he is then this is when he will find out that Maria is pregnant. This, of course, is a violation of Maria's wishes in this matter and will more than vex Victoria (who has enough on her plate as it is).

Wow, Sara, mucho early, tks.

Sorry to say that sure sounds like Ave María from FELS. Pablo must think off key is the way to go. I cringe, it's like nails on a blackboard. He has such a nice voice & can't figure out why they can't tape the song ON key.

Pobre Fernanda, there she is, helpless & not a soul around. They know how delicate her situation is & nobody tells her whats happening.

Pretty tacky, no apellido on Linda's tombstone. Dedicated to all Lindas everywhere? How does Juanjo know he's even at the right grave?

Variopinta: this leaves me wondering if they bothered to change the name on JuanJo's fancy bombero headstone which is marking the grave of the unknown assailant.

And before I forget my manners, Sara. Thank you; those were pretty fabulous bullet points. Lots of animated detail & dichos. A great read with my coffee this morning.

Sara, gracias! Me muero de la risa -- de la risa -- de la risa!!!

Anyone else have a 'déjà vu all over again moment' when María dipped her hand in the holy water and suddenly, there was Max? [CCEA, Blind Marichuy, Sweet Wm as World's Dumbest Loquero soon to be World's Most Brilliant Eye Surgeon?)

I suppose that after a while, no matter how many pieces you have in the Lego box, some of them end up being used over and over again! But hey, it's still fun playing with them:)

Love the snark! It definitely helps after watching these episodes sometimes.
Only problem now, I can't see Max and Al anywhere near each other that my mind doesn't immediately start adding the "Dude" factor to their conversation. "Amigo" doesn't have the same affect. ( We should show them Kristel's spanglish habit from Llena. The "dude" would be so perfect to add in.)

I agree on Xi. worthless, stupid and needs to see the front end of a bug bus soon!

Wish there was more plot and less Vic agonizing. Sometimes you would think these companies are the only ones out there for people to work at. Go work for someone else and get healthcare dollars there is what I say...but then we wouldn't have a story.

Too funny on the headstone. I hadn't caught that. I try to ignore the JJ scenes as much as possible. Always a good time to pet the cat.

Sara: "Caution" signs need to be up before we are allowed to read this thing! ROTFLOL read this A.M.

•JuanJo vists Linda's grave (whoever paid for the headstone could only afford "Linda." I
guess "Sortini" was too long.) I wondered about that, too. Give me a break!

The whole Dude vs. Dude was hilarious. You've got 5ft.'s vibe goin' on. Loved it.

Thanks for a great belly laugh to start my morning with.

Daisyjay, my boy cat is on my lap for petting as often as he can! Thanks to novelas I can talk to my gatos in Spanish and they know all the important words!

I don't think it will be much longer before Ximeana's karma starts kicking in. Her latest cruelty to Fer was completely uncalled for and hell will have no fury greater than Max when he finds out.

Roxana is a real idiot because I don't think Dona Dementa is dumb enough to fall for her brown-nosing. Not to mention she will be royally peeved when her little princessita isn't appointed the official model of the new maternity line. That confrontation will be interesting.

Hello dudes......too funny but so appropriate.....thanks for the recap.....i sure felt for max last nite....he loves maria so much... i sure could not understand why they did not let him notice the pregancy...he looked down at marias stomach enough as he was talking to her i thought for sure he would....i like the alonso character....he sure was done wrong by XX....i don't like that he just came into the story and they have him commin up on Maria all flirty and lovey....I felt for Max....and with everyone telling him to leave like they were...someone needs to get some balls and tell him Maria is preggers from him.....no everyone keeps the secret and tells him to leave......lets see if the light bulb goes on tonight....once he sees maria back in the salon de modas....i bet he thinks its someone elses....

BNinCA

Fernanda, pre-accident, would have called Ximeana out on her crap.

But Fer, post-accident, is very vulnerable, and Ximeana knows that. Fernanda was having a fit BEFORE the accident in regards to Vicky and Oz having marital problems and she just wanted them to be together.

Now she's an invalid, her parents are broken up, her friend is dead and she's probably blaming herself for all of that. So then here comes X-factor preying on all of that* and telling the girl it's her fault her parents broke up (which she probably felt deep down anyway.)

*X-factor is very perceptive, that's how she figured out Gui killed Ofelia.

Why isn't Jimena "showing"?

Double thanks are due to Sara and NovelaMaven for the last two recaps. Both were great and hilarious! "Highlight fairy" and "Dude", etc...rofl.

Fer was impressive in her crawling scene. Nice that both Cruz and Fab were set up to give aid and comfort to Fer. Helps their friendly rivalry plot thread move along.

Dona Dementa as a boss is giving me bad flashbacks to a former boss of mine. I want her to cut off Rox at the knees.
La Paloma

Xi probably isn't showing because popping pills and downing booze = one super low birth weigh little baby

*low birth weighT, sorry

I think it will happen soon; Rox deserves her share of bad karma. I would have preferred to see Victoria give her what-for, but that could still happen.

Eva and Fausto need to find more dirt. Unless Dona Dementa Disturbide boasts about it again, nobody will know that she killed her husband.

In the advances it looks like tonight Maria turns up at Casa de Modas as a maternity model? I can't imagine she would be so insensitive to Max to let him learn she's expecting his baby in this way?! I know it makes for better tn drama but Wow! That is cold!!!

And why isn't Os working? It seems he just hangs out at Casa Sandoval, dressed to the nines in a business suit. Isn't he a famous actor? If the family is so hard pressed for cash that Vic is working for Burnie, couldn't Os at least do a commercial or something for some quick cash?!!

Sara and all recappers, I so admire and appreciate what you do. I started watching tns to improve my Spanish but my real learning comes through this blog!

Sara, thank you once again for another great recap. The comments have been terrific!

I agree, why isn't Os working?
What has he done with all his money from Televisa? Why did he have to sell shares of Vic's business? None of this makes any sense and I am out of foil for a new lining for my beanie.

This is the first Catholic baptism I have seen that was not in a church. Is this usual in Mexico?

BSCX is really evil. The good side of what she told Fer is that now Fer is no longer feelig sorry for herself and will start with the therapy and whatever else is needed to get her on her feet again.

Rosemary

Oz' movie bombed and he's gotten fired/replaced from a couple of telenovela roles. He was supposed to do a series in Spain but I think that got cancelled too.

Oz can't even go to Japan and make a few commercials anymore. He better try and get a Spanish language Walmart, Nissan or Tide commercial on Univision.

UA-Im totally stealing dona dementa disturbide!

Ditto Os needing to work

Guillermo screwed Osvaldo over with Pedro on the TN role, I just can't remember how. Guillermo got the role.

Scheduling kerfuffle --

According to zap2it, next week our show is being aired at its usual time on Monday 4/11 and Thursday 4/14. It is pre-empted on Tues, Weds and Friday.

The schedule only goes up to Monday 4/18 and it appears at the usual time on that day.

Anybody know what's going on?

Is that the old usual time of 9PM EST or the new usual time 10PM EST?

It might have sth to do with Eva & Llena ending & the new one starting.

Oh sorry. The NEW usual: 9CST, 10EST.

I don't even think Univision knows what's going on.

Can we recappers make a pact to try and keep up with what chapter we are on? It makes it easier for me to find episodes on line (I hereby confess to watching ahead to do my recaps...may I be spared from Doña Dementa Disturbide's wrath.)

PS
kerfuffle=best word ever!

Sara,

Thanks so much for the fun recap. We say it all the time but it's true: recaps more fun than the episodes!

Teresa is on as I write. Not really watching closely, but seems to have a lot more energy and life than our TDA.

I hate, hate, hate this business of having Burnie/Dona D in charge of the business. It's so like Mejia. All the plots intersect; all the nutty, evil people are related. And Maria modeling a pregnancy line. Valgame dios!
