Cuando Me Enamoro #26 Thursday 5/26/11 There’s no shortage of water in the DF

We left our two machos, Carlos and Lazaro, packing heat and pointing their pistols at Augustin. Boom! A gun goes off and it turns out a vibora is at the receiving end. (Note to Carlos, snakes in the vineyard are actually a good thing, helps keep the rodent population down, it’s called Sustainable Practices, just sayin’. Let’s assume it’s a rattlesnake or some such poisonous type and move on...) Caras impactadas all around and Augie’s not happy because he got his handsome self all scared at the big noise.

Carlos, waving the gun around just so Augie knows, says he’d just as soon shoot Augie for invading the vineyard as he did the snake. Lots of chest puffing, especially Alfonsina even though she’s not trying. Augie keeps calling the place HIS vineyard and finally tells Carlos that for his stupidity he’d better watch out because Augie plans to repay the debt. This has got to be weird for Alfonsina and Ezequiel who are married and on opposing teams. They shoot each other The Look before Alfonsina tosses her head. You go girl.

Jero brings Renata breakfast on a tray, or maybe it’s her re-warmed dinner that she never ate, but it looks like the little bird has flown the coop. There is a note. He calls but gets her voice mail and leaves a message that he thought they were going to confront her family together and explain. Call him OK? Actually, I think it’s pretty cool that he made her dinner and breakfast. I’m liking him a little more. For now.

Over at Monterrubio Manor Renata tries to sneak upstairs but she’s met by the inquisition led by Gonzo who attacks first saying he never thought he could be so disillusioned by her. He’s backed up by a glaring Matias and Fina and a smug Roberta.

Renata’s first mistake, she meekly apologizes instead of saying “hey I’m a grownup and didn’t do anything wrong, when y’all cool off I’ll explain it.” But no, and she adds that this thing with Jero was a complete surprise to her too. Fina interrupts her apology saying “oh, you lie so easily when you knew all along that Jero was one of Matias’s best buds and your sister’s beau!”

Renata’s second mistake, she explains she really didn’t know because she actually met Jero at the airport the day he arrived. What?!? The inquisition jumps all over this one. Why did she pretend she just met him at the party? Why didn’t she say anything to Matias instead of acting like he was a big stupid? Lots of accusing and defending with Gonzo’s face frozen in a look of...shock I guess. Renata keeps begging forgiveness but this doesn’t quite work out for her. Basically it’s a disaster.

Matias says he stands by what he said last night, he’ll never forgive her, and he rues the day he came back to Mexico and fell in love with her. Renata glares at Roberta who is grinning happily, not even trying to hide her smile.

Now Fina jumps in hissing that this is a great way to repay the man that has given her such love and devotion, by wounding his son. She says the best thing for Renata to do right now is to leave the family and this house. Gonzo just stares stupidly. Let’s move on.

Jero is sitting on the bed twiddling his thumbs when Carlos calls and can tell something’s wrong. Jero says it’s not one of his best days because the Monterrubios discovered his relationship with Renata. “So it’s a relationship?” asks Carlos, “what about Matias?” Jero confirms he’s in love with Renata but why did Carlos call? Carlos tells Jero he “had a very strong discussion” with Augustin that morning and Augie thinks the vineyard is his. Carlos suggests Jero come to La Bonita right away. Jero says La Bonita is the least of his concerns, Carlos should handle it how he wants and do what he can to rush the sale. I’m thinking Carlos looks pretty hot in his cute leather hat and apricot polo shirt. I’ll bet Matilde thinks so too, because when he tells her that Jero’s not returning and he’s in charge, she laughs that Don Augie will certainly think twice before trying to set foot on La Bonita again. They stare adoringly at one another. I am so on board with this relationship.

Ugh, back at Hate House Renata cries that they don’t need to ask, she was going to leave on her own. Here’s a shocker, Gonzo says he does NOT agree with mom and that leaving is not a solution. Dude, finally, yay. But Fina’s on a tear, calling Renata reprehensible and shameful. Renata tells dad that with such intense reactions leaving is the best thing to do. Rob pipes up that Renata and Matias shouldn’t live in the same house but everyone pretty much ignores her. (Is it just me or does it look like she’s flipping Renata off?)

Now Gonzo is crying, the waterworks are flowing, and Renata swears she didn’t intend to hurt him, she’s very sorry, but she should leave. Fina says absolutely nothing can excuse what Renata did to her sister and brother, making them find her in that Jero’s arms. (Yikes, overreact much?) Then she gets even nastier, saying Renata always tries to come across as sweet little Miss Perfect well they don’t believe it! Renata finally sticks up for herself, says sure maybe she made a mistake falling for the guy but she’s certainly not the bad person that mom makes her out to be. She tells dad she truly adores him and she’s sorry. Again. She runs upstairs and Fina stops Gonzo from following by getting all fake apologetic. She scowls out the side of her face and Roberta enjoys the show.

Montage of Matias using his grief as an excuse to show off his horsemanship skills. Dude definitely looks good in the saddle. Rewind.

Back at the vineyards Augustin gripes to Ezequiel about being humiliated at La Bonita, he’s not going to stand for it. Then he gets on Ezequiel’s case about Alfonsina not obeying his orders. Ez says she’s just used to getting orders from her own boss but he’ll talk to her about it. Augustin thinks maybe he can bribe the notary to speed up the sale, but in the meantime maybe if Carlos has an accident that’ll get rid of the little macho twerp. Ez perks up and asks does Augie want him to take care of it? Darn, here I was thinking that Ez might be a good guy but now I’m thinking maybe not.

Gonzo finds Matias down at the stables and wants to talk. Matias says he’s hurting and feels like everything he thought was real turned out to be a lie. Gonzo tells him that Fina gave Renata the boot but he doesn’t think that’s the solution. Matias says he agrees, HE should be the one who leaves. No, Gonzo doesn’t like that idea either. Matias can’t stop thinking about Renata in Jero’s arms, why why why did she have to be with his friend? Lots of mutual crying and Gonzo gives him a big, clingy man hug.

Fina calls her licenciado pal and tells him now that Gonzo is back in town she wants him to step up the spying on Regina. Fina wants to know her every move.

Renata’s packing; she listens to a voice mail from Adriana who wants to hear all about Jero and l’amourrrrrr, etc. Oh crap, here comes Roberta who snipes, “Awwwww, the little princess is crying.” This is another ugly scene so I’ll keep it short. Roberta follows Renata around shrieking like a harpy that Renata stole her man, they lied, etc. Renata says Jero told her there was nothing serious between him and Roberta. (Oooh, bet Rob hates that!) Yep, Roberta tries a new tack. She claims Jero tried to take advantage of her but she wouldn’t allow it, so now he’s going after Renata to spite Roberta. Well it serves her right and she hopes it was worth it because she lost everything including dad’s unconditional love. She hopes Renata putrefies in the hell she created, damn her!

Roberta’s abortion doctor calls Fina to ask why she and Roberta missed their appointment. Oops, Fina tells him they had a little setback (contratiempo) and they’ll have to reschedule. The doc reminds her there is a twelve week limit to do the procedure. Fina tells him money’s no object, they’ll think about it and give him a call. Her cogs and sprockets start turning.

Split screen of sad Renata (left) and Adri (right) writing a note to her mom that she’s off to work. Wow, all this happened before work? Do these people sleep? They have dates at 9:00 p.m. and get up at dawn. Anyway, Renata asks if she can stay at Adri’s place for a few days.

Jero calls Renata and wants to come right over to her house to face the family. She growls bad idea and she wants to clear up a few things with him, ahem.

Gonzo and Matias arrive at work. Gonzo is worried that this thing with Renata will affect the vice presidency but Matias assures dad work will be as usual and he won’t let his personal anguish affect his work.

Renata sadly surveys the downstairs while waiting for Fina to come in and insult her anew. Yes, here comes mom and she hopes Renata’s not planning to shack up with That Guy. No, she’ll be at Adriana’s until she finds her own place. Fina gleefully comments that finally Renata has driven the last nail into the coffin that holds her reputation. Renata tells her she knows why Fina doesn’t like her, because she reminds her of dad who betrayed her. More nastiness from Mommy Dearest who concludes her tirade saying that from now on she disowns Renata as her daughter. Renata sadly says that might be so, but for her Fina will always be her mama. This shuts Fina up and for a moment she even looks touched, but no, here comes the evil music and Fins gets a determined look on her face. Bad mommy.

Honorio comes into Gonzo’s office with something important to say. (Hurry up and say it!!) But wait, what’s up with Gonzo? Did the convention go badly? Gonzo says no, it has to do with Renata. Honorio asks, “Oh, you already know? Who told you?” Gonzo tells him Fina. Gonzo does a quick data dump on Renata and Jero vs Roberta and Matias. Honoria says that’s not what he came to tell Gonzo about but this Renata thing sounds absolutely ridiculous to him. Honorio, tell him now!!!

Renata meets with Jero in the middle of the street and demands to know if what he’s doing with her he already did with her sister? Why didn’t he tell her that Roberta was also in his apartment? Well, he says, she was in my apartment, we were on the verge of something, but nothing happened. She tells him she lost everything for their love and he’d better not plan on betraying her. “What do you mean by ‘lost everything’?” he asks. She fills him in on how she shamed the family (oh brother) and mom kicked her out. He wants to go right now and explain to the family, no doubt assuming they are normal. Boy is he ever wrong. He suggests Renata move in with him. She smiles and thanks him but she’s moving in with a friend and wants to do things her way. He sweetly tells her maybe they lost everything but as long as they don’t lose each other they’ll be OK. Awwwww. They kiss and make up, but I’m thinking they need to have a long one-to-one pronto because there is a lot of very important concealed information in this relationship.

Another montage of Matias wallowing in grief. He tells an unfortunate pencil if he ever sees Jero he’s going to break his face, crack! Poor pencil.

Renata is at Adri’s giving her the 411. Adri asks was Jero worth it? Renata responds it’s never worth hurting the ones you love but what she feels is what she feels. At least she loves Jero and he loves her.

Jero is also filling in his confidant Regina. He loves Renata in spite of himself. Regina agrees that love is a great diversion (also contratiempo). Jero’s worried about Matias and his vow to Rafa. Regina advises him that a lot of men suffer betrayal without taking their own lives. It was Rafa’s decision, not hers (meaning La Bonita). He says he has a deep love for Renata but when he thinks of his brother then his hatred for her comes surging back. Yikes.

Roberta finds Fina cleaning out Renata’s room. Rob asks and what if dad and bro forgive her and she comes back? Ain’t gonna happen, says mom, trust me. Roberta starts griping about her surgery, she sure wants to get this brat out of her. That ain’t gonna happen either because mom says she cancelled the appointment forever, this baby is going to be grandpa Gonzo’s happy gift. But Gonzo’s not the grandfather, insists Roberta. Oh yes he will be, promises Fina, “because the father of this baby is going to be Matias Monterrubio!”

We’re now at the Regina Center where Regina wonders about Constanza’s long face. Coni says it’s her brother, he’s married to a cold, egotistical witch who delights in making her daughters hate each other. Roberta absolutely hates Renata and did something terrible to her. Suddenly we hear laughter in the courtyard, it’s Antonio arriving with goodies for the kids. Coni says Regina won the lottery with that guy. His smile and good attitude are incredible considering the family tragedy he’s suffered. Que? What tragedy? This is news to Regina.

Fina has decided that this child will cement their relationship within the Monterrubio family. Rob’s incredulous, how are they going to pull this one off assuming she’d agree to it, no gracias. Fina tells her it’s time Rob pulled her weight just a little in achieving all they’ve dreamed of.

Now that Renata has lost the throne of the Monterrubio men’s love who better to take that place than Roberta? Roberta’s her mom’s daughter, she figures this kills two birds with one stone, they’ll be firmly in the family and Gonzo will lose interest in Regina. Yep, mom agrees, Grandpa Gonzo will have eyes only for Roberta, the baby and Fina. (Not sure how that last part fits in but OK.) Roberta says Mat’s not stupid, she’s 2 months pregnant. Fina laughs, he’s a man and there’s such a thing as a premature baby. Roberta should console Matias and seduce him to get back at Renata and become the boss lady of the Monterrubio fortune. Think about it, he’s handsome, a millionaire, and opportunities like this don’t come along very often.

Renata and Adri arrive at work and Renata is stressing about causing weird trips between her and Matias. Just then Matias walks out telling Daniel that the meeting that Renata confirmed just last night is now cancelled. Oooh, he’s already overriding her decisions.

Renata hides out in her office and begins writing some sort of memo or letter. Meanwhile Adri is ripping Matias a new one for the way he’s treating Renata. She reminds him that he approached her (Adri) to help win Renata’s love because he already knew she (Renata) didn’t love him. He whines about Renata being with his friend. Adri jumps up and says “excuuuse me, but Renata fell in love with Jero before she knew he was your friend and Roberta’s galan.” She says sure, Renata made a mistake in not telling Matias how she felt about Jero but Mat’s reaction is way too harsh. Finally, a voice of reason!

Renata contritely approaches Gonzo, he knows she loves him correct? Oh sure him too, but then he gets another dig in about how disappointed he is in her, puhleeze. Well guess what, she’s got a solution for that and she hands him her resignation. Now he’s taken aback, yes the situation is serious and delicate but her abilities at work are not in question, she’s key here. She explains since Gonzo has lost confidence in her, and considering how hard it will be for Matias, it’s better if she leaves. He does not accept her resignation. Sorry papito, she says, it’s her decision and she’s made it. She’ll find something somewhere else and he’s not to worry. She tells him she adores him and he’ll always be her father. We are left with Gonzo’s oddly unemotional supposed-to-be-stricken stare as his daughter departs.

Tomorrow: Oh goodie, it looks like Honorio tattles because everyone is gathered and Honorio drags Diego in. Then Diego claims Roberta hates Renata and always has! Renata and Matias come face to face over Renata’s love.

Ahoy all, I hope everyone has a lovely Memorial Day weekend. After Friday morning I will be offline for a couple of days but will check back in Saturday night or Sunday sometime.

WOW, poor Renata that was brutal. I have a bad feeling that Roberta will somehow dodge the bullet heading for her she seems invincible right now, I hope she gets what she deserves, but not likely!

If Jero has truly let go of the revenge game and truly loves Renata, how then doe she get back on the revenge track??? That will be interesting to see. No doubt it will be Roberta or Fina that takes care of that.

I hope that Matias comes around and realizes that he needs to chill, Renata is going to need as many people on her side when Fina and Roberta get up to full steam, they are only warming up!!

Great job Sylvia. Lots of good stuff but my favorite line was early on:

"Lots of chest puffing, especially Alfonsina even though she’s not trying."

Nice... the line... and the chest puffing...

I was going to nominate Gonzo for Mr. I. for telling Renata (without hearing a word of explanation) that he didn't know if he could ever forgive her, but after reading your recap, I nominate Carlos... for killing an innocent and beneficial reptile. Thanks for pointing that out.

So, tomorrow, will Matias be having drinks with Roberta and perhaps a bit of little car bumping afterward?

Matilde and Carlos...

"I am so on board with this relationship."

Me too.

Have a great weekend.

Carlos

Jules, I have the same feeling that somehow Roberta the snake will slither out of trouble.

Carlos, I was thinking of you when I wrote that line.

Interesting nominating Carlos for Mr. I for killing the snake. I totally agree. If he's such an expert he should have known that.

Otherwise I was going to nominate the father/son team of Gonzo and Matias for overreacting.

Yep, sounds like car bumping is definitely in Matias and Roberta's future.

That was SOOOOO depressing last night. Let's just take Nata's heart and stomp on it - what a "family". I was disappointed in Gonzo who should know his Nata better, but I kinda understand the conflict since Matias is his son. ( Man that hug was a killer wasn't it?)

As for Fina, I would like to actually nominate our "mama" who apparently really wears the pants in that family as Mr. I. Seems no matter what positive steps we take in people realizing she's a b****, they fall right into believing every bit of slock and now she's pulled Rob into her stupid plan too.

Poor Matias, he needs to stop wallowing in self-pity (THANK YOU ADRI!!!!) and realize he's about to get offered up as the sacrificial lamb on the Church of Fina altar. That seduction scene will be painful (would be interesting though if Rob avtually falls for him).

Tonight should be good - Diego squealing and lots of testerone flying. Always makes for a good time.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend all. Take some time to remember all those who've served!

Well of course...Carlos and I picked the same line..."Lots of chest puffing, especially Alfonsina, even though she's not really trying". Just delicious.

Also enjoyed the brief sermon on "sustainable practices". Great term.

Whew, what a miserable episode after those few moments of tender loving yesterday! We and poor Renata paid a high price for a few snuggles, kisses and "te adoros". Ugh.

Must say though that Silvia Navarro does the best crying ever. Yep, it's ugly, but it looks absolutely real and anguished...not like the pathetic hiccuping that Lucero does. (and don't get me wrong, I love Lucero but her crying just isn't in the same league with Silvia's.)

And actually, I didn't find Gonzo's response to Renata's leaving "unemotional". I thought he looked very anguished. And just frozen. My husband is somewhat that way. Something happens where he needs to react strongly and he just goes into a state of complete lockdown. The emotion is there...it just can't get expressed.

I felt a lot of sympathy for Gonzo in that moment because he doesn't have the emotional skills to negotiate a crisis like that with Renata. But it's a common failing I fear!

Pretty bummed overall. One little dose of sugar Wednesday night and now it looks like more poisonous brew coming up. But your recap was great. As we say...Better than the episode...way better!

Oh Carlos is too cute in his apricot shirt to be Mr. I. It must have been a rattler about to strike that he shot.

Loved the title! Also the chest puffing line. Gonzo does have a very wooden face . I liked your portrayal of him as having a "face frozen in a look of...shock I guess" & with an "oddly unemotional supposed-to-be-strisken stare" But at least he does a good man hug. He does get my vote for Mr. I for jumping to conclusions.

I did sense an anvil lurking when Jero tells Renaata that even though they have lost everything they will be OK because they will never lose each other -- yeah right!

Sylvia: Reading your marvelous recap was a wonderful way to make Friday (with a 3 day weekend looming) even better!

In addition to what Carlos mentioned "Augie’s not happy because he got his handsome self all scared at the big noise", "Hate House" and "big, clingy man hug" (my favorite) were simply great. I smiled all the way through this. Excellent, as always!

Judy, I totally agree with you on Silvia Navarro. She never seems to be acting. It all seems so real. Amazing. And I could watch Luis Gatica all day. Sigh...

I wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend as well.

Diana

Sylvia! Totally enjoyed your recap -- you managed to make a difficult episode fun! Thank You!! Man! I felt sooo bad for Renata and now find myself growling everytime bitch and bitch jr. come on the screen! grrrrrrr! Luuuved Carlos taking Augie down a notch! Can't wait for tonight. I cannot believe they are actually going to reveal roberta's dastardly deed so early -- they usually wait til the last week to let the shit hit the fan! I hope it doesn't get twisted and end up back-firing and reflecting badly on poor Renata!

Khalilah

Ok, who is "Mr. I.?" Thanks!

Khalilah

Augie’s not happy because he got his handsome self all scared at the big noise.

LOL!! Sylvia, that was right on the money! loved his expression and the 'bah! do this daily around here...' face on Lazaro.

Wow - that Matías is such a BABY!!!!!

OK - now back to reading the recap.

Audrey

Good morning all, just checking in before I blast off.

Khalilah, Mr. I is short for Mister Inappropriate. We decided that the men in this telenovela act very inappropriately and there is at least one per episode who wins the title. I think Carlos started it (our Carlos, not Carlos2 who is in the show).

ITA that Silvia Navarro is a world class crier. I don't think she's an ugly crier, well not compared to most others and I am specifically thinking of ROBERTA here. Man, when she cried I almost turned to stone.

Have a great weekend all, and thanks to Daisy for reminded us to remember.

Ugly or non-criers don't usually get to be protagonists. If I had been able to speak Spanish at the appropriate age I could have ended up as a villana.

What a snake pit of twisted hatred.

As to the "premature birth", I wonder how anyone cam ever believe that one. Years ago a Masterpiece Theatre series that took place in the late 18th century had characters who could recognize the difference between a six-weeks premature infant and a full-term one. I'm sure there are more scientific ways to determine that today.

Thanks so much for the recap Cap'n Sylvia! And have a great weekend - looks like you get to escape.

I KNEW IT! I knew Fina was going to use Roberta's baby to trap somebody and I had the sneaking suspicion it would be Matías. I am SO disgusted with Matías right now that I am not that unhappy about this plot development. Of course no one deserves such a thing, but if Matías thinks life is bad now - just wait!

This was one rocking episode! I knew of course that Renata was going to go through the gauntlet, and it is typically misguided of her to handle it alone. So not surprised that this precipitates her moving out of the house and leaving work - but wow, what a major plot advance!!!!! That was so painful!!!!

Just wait, Gonzo! Your life is going to be hell in that house without Renata there. Especially when your son gets trapped by cold spoiled bi^ch Roberta.

Loved the vineyard stuff. So hilarious about the gun pull and shocked to hear the shot - and it was a viper - LOL!!! That was great!

I do NOT get the Ezequiel-Alfonsina relationship, but I'm sure time will reveal. Too bad Ezequiel is rotten like his guapo boss - that man is very good looking too!!! Why do the best looking men have to be the baddies????

The previews looked very promising! Looking forward to the confrontation with Roberta and Diego and I hope we don't get cheated (too much).

Audrey

I agree too that Agustín's hand reaching at the base of the vine was way too close to that rattler and that's why it got shot. Although around here some dumb ranchers walk around with a gun so they can shoot a rattler if they see one.

You definitely want snakes around and I really enjoy seeing them in the wild. Although it's kind of hard not to freak when a rattlesnake takes up residence in your back yard. If you are lucky, you know someone who can help remove and relocate it.

Audrey

Someone please clarify the anvil reference - it's used so often in the comments. Is it like the anvil in the coyote and roadrunner cartoons - the one perched precariously on the cliff edge that then drops to flatten the coyote?

That must be it.

Audrey

Top notch recap!

Whoa, they should rename the family Montecrybabies. Too much male hysteria for me.

This is the first novella, for me, where one of the abused daughter's actually leaves. I am happy Renata is out of that weeping assembly.

Please, tell me that Roberta isn't going to get Mathis drunk and slip into bed and claim she's all with bebe.

Got a bad feeling that Augie will try to track down Renata once he finds out she is no longer working there. A probable kidnapping later down the capitulo road?

A in Baraboo.

Personally, I think that is EXACTLY what is going to happen (this is only my guess). Fina or Roberta will get Matías drunk - not hard to do when he wants to drown his sorrows. And, surprise! - Matías will wake up with Roberta next to him and get the - "But don't you remember? You wanted me to comfort you." or some such speech. And it will only be the once, because so far Matías has found Roberta rather repulsive. And Matías will not remember anything (because nothing happened), but Fina will use the pregnancy as proof. This is a very common TN plot device. CME may surprise us - they have before.

These days with pregnancies, Roberta will have to keep Matías away from her doctor at all times because doctors know within the week the age of a fetus.

Audrey

Have a wonderful weekend too Sylvia and thank you for another wonderful recap!

Silvia N. is a great crier. Very believable. In fact, I think she IS crying in her scenes with no need for glycerin tears. Her face gets really red and a vein pops out on her forhead. Not pretty, but very real. I remember one scene in MEPS when she's destroyed thinking that Eduardo has died and talking to the priest. It looked like her crying and anguish was so real that she made the actor playing the priest also cry for real.

I'm glad Renata's getting out of Hate House. It's not a healthy environment and never has been for her. I was surprised by the little chink in Fina's armor when Renata said she will always be her mother. I guess all these years of playing her mother may have actually rubbed off on Fina and she has a glimmer of motherly feelings for Renata. I wonder if we'll ever see that again? It would be interesting if later down the road, when Renata's real mother is revealed, Fina tries to play the mother card with Renata since she raised her.

Big Baby Matias deserves what he gets if he lets his blubbering over Renata land him in a baby trap by Roberta.

Gonzo disappointed me (same thing he said to Renata) since he actually knows that Renata was honest with Matias about how she feels and ended things with him. Isn't he going through the exact same thing with Fina and Regina? And he's a married man! I wanted Honorio to throw that in Gonzo's face, just like Adri was speaking sense to Matias. Levelheaded father-daughter Hon and Adri, speaking sense to muddled father-son Gonzo and Matias. I was disappointed that Hon didn't spill the beans about the helicopter plot, but looks like it happens tonight. Yay!

Dude definitely looks good in the saddle. Rewind.
well... I still prefer Guy Ecker in the saddle ... but I can understand you, Jose Ron does look good.

He wants to go right now and explain to the family, no doubt assuming they are normal. Boy is he ever wrong.

very similar to the '98 version...

here is something I am beginning to not like... all the 'waterworks' of recently is reminding me of the Adela Noriega novelas... I hope once Regina moves she will cut down on the waterworks...

I guess Renata's tears don't bother me so much as watching an Adela N.. character cry because the crying isn't pathetic/victim-like. Renata is decisive and takes action. She's hurt, she's regretful of what she did, but she's not being the victim. She always, respectfully, tells her mother she is wrong about her. But you can still tell it hurts her. Crying is not annoying. It's natural. Crying over and over, and doing nothing to change your situation, is annoying.

sorry on last comment i meant i hope when Renata moves...

Totally on board with everyone on the Carlos/Matilde relationship... that would be a fun household to grow up in...

Whoa, they should rename the family Montecrybabies. Too much male hysteria for me.
I could not agree more...

Regarding the baby being passed as premature, if Roberta keeps on drinking, having tantrums and hating the baby, that is what a full term baby developed under those conditions would look like, a premature one.

And I too wish a good holiday weekend for everyone... and lets remember the veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. (and those who we are lucky to still have around)

Thanks Sylvia for a great fun recap of a nasty sad episode.

Ok, I regress on the crying of Renata... I do give it to Sylvia Navarro that she has mastered the crying realism... unlike Adela who tends to exaggerate her martyrdom.

Too much water flowing though..

Totally agree on interesting parallel of Honorio and Adriana telling it like it is to Gonzo (hopefully Honorio will actually rub it in to Gonzo after the revelation of who was behind the 'picture drop') and Matias...

As to the shooting of that innocent snake... his job was to keep down the rodent population in the vineyard... he apparently was about to get rid of a very large rat... and then... BOOM!

Our useful serpent... dead

the rat... walks away

the natural order of things... interrupted...

Carlos

Thanks for the masterful recap, Sylvia and happy holiday to all. The summer is coming. Well, we all knew that Fina would use that pregnancy to some evil end. Let's just see how stupid Mat and Gonz really are to swallow this big fish whole. Mat is making a big mess out of Renata when he knows inside that she already dumped him long ago. Let's hope he doesnt do pity sex Rob and get stuck in a real nightmare. Augie and Ezek are really off the track now so I hope Carlos2 sleeps in a locked room for a while. His momentary eco-terrorism get a one night nod for Mr. I but Gonzo being so unsupportive from the accusations of a wife he doesn't love against the one daughter he does love gets him a tie vote from me.

Great recap Sylvia, thank you.

You are correct as always Carlos, Carlos II should have not interrupted the natural order of things.

What happened to the DIVORCE? Has Gonzo already forgotten?

Roberta always looks so frumpy and that shrew attitude she has makes all of the single males run for the hills. I doubt Raf judgment in declaring his love for her.

Matias is a real brat. What did he expect from Renata? He had been living in Spain for years, returns to Mexico and expects Renata to drop everything and devote the rest of her life to him? He is living on different planet.

I am sure that Jero is appalled at the phyical violence which is why he just stands there while it is going on. He must has been raised a gentleman. He doesn't even deal the problem of Agustin, he turns over the problems to Carlos II.

Rosemary

Sylvia, las gracias, como siempre. Well, well, I had to re-read the recap a couple of times to see if I could ferret out another Mr. I; but I think most all the men were behaving fairly appropriately.

So, it's either Gonzo or Carlos. I want to give Carlos the benefit of the doubt and was offing a rattler and to our satisfaction making Augustin fall a couple of rungs from his high and mighty attitude.

My vote goes to Gonzo for Mr. I. But again, giving him the benefit of doubt, he's a bit henpecked and in this situation was ganged up on by Team Fina of Hate House and didn't have time to process what he knows about Renata or get her side of the story. It might make him a bit more understanding, if he's willing to recognize his own growing fascination with Regina. But still he is the father of a very hurt son.

On the other hand, I like daisynj's recommendation that Fina is a credible candidate for Mr. I and her reasons why.

There was too much screentime with a wallowing Matias (we know he's hurt) and not enough Jero time for me (he and Ren could have spent more time making up).

My word verification is tummi--what Roberta has a bun in--
