Teresa Wed 5/25/11 #64 Most exciting wedding I've ever been to...

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I slept way late today... I am putting this up so you can start to discuss while I put together this recap asap!

My absolute favorite scene last night was when Teresa and Fernando shared a dance at the wedding.

---------------------

Let's begin. Aida directs Mariano to Teresa who is thankfully outside. He brings up their love making the night before the wedding and she begs him not to tell Arturo. She sings her usual song, el amor no es sufficiente. He agrees not to tell, and basically yells at her, (which she deserves) and says, "Despues de lo que hiciste no quiero que te a cercas de mi nunca mas. Me das asco, Teresa." (After what you did, I don’t want you near me anymore. You disgust me, Teresa.) He leaves and she tries not to cry. She made her decision and she will succeed.

Esperanza and Hernan the Galan walk into the wedding. He doesn’t want her to run into Rubigote so he tells her to wait in the women’s restroom. At first she says no, but he insists so she does.

Aida tries to make Mariano feel better. He wants to be alone. She won’t leave him alone. Hernan walks up and calls to Mariano.

Teresa is swallowing her tears, (or dominating her emotions,) and walks back into the party. She finds her parents and displays more classless behavior, hoping they won’t embarrass her anymore. Aurora and Martin sit down and her dad says, don’t worry; they won’t make her ashamed anymore. He lets is slip that Martin was involved in giving them etiquette lessons. Teresa is not happy. Her mother asks if it is bad etiquette to mention things like that and Aurora says no, toasts to the parents of the bride, and she and Martin hurry away. Teresa is crying now. She is pissed that they took lessons from the employee of her worst enemy, the ex novia of Arturo. Thanks to their stupidity, they have given the ex gf of Arturo more reasons to mock her.

Ruben with Mayra and Genoveva. Mayra runs off and that leaves the two sleaze balls to slime all over one another. Until Esperanza shows up. Ruben flips and manhandles her into the women’s bathroom. He thinks she is there to bother him, she assures him she is not. She reproaches him for having an affair with his wife’s best friend. He is angry and shaking her rather violently.

Juana is talking to Hector at the table, Aurora and Martin are there. Mariano’s crashing the wedding is the topic of discussion. Juana calls Mariano muy atrabancado (really rash, reckless.) Hector looks pointedly at Aurora and continues the discussion.

Hernan is talking to Mariano, asking what he is doing there. Mariano tells him to stay out of it. Hernan says no, he is there to get Mar to leave. Mariano says not to worry, he’s already done what he came there to do. Aida pulls him along, trying to get him to leave. Arturo shows up, “Otra vez tu?!” Arturo threatens legal action if he doesn’t stay away from her. Arturo is ready to throw down but Aida breaks it up and she and Hernan walk Mariano away.

Meanwhile, Espreanza is getting throttled in the bathroom by the angry mustache. Ruben is ready to hit Espe and thankfully Gen holds back his hand. Gen? Well, okay. I thought she might enjoy seeing that. Good for her, stopping him. Espe says she was not her for him; she wants nothing to do with Ruben. She came to talk to Teresa. He is still physically shaking her. Then she goes off on Gen pretending to be Mayra’s friend. Que descaro! (What nerve! I like that expression.) Espe pushes them both out of the way and flees the room. Oooh, she’s quick like a bunny.

Arturo tells Tere the news that Mariano was there. He is explaining what happened and she keeps asking what he said. Then Arturo mentions that Aida was there to take him away and this catches her attention. Aida? Then she says, she doesn’t care what Mariano does. She only loves Arturo. A ti. And she is married to him, and for that she is very happy. Mi amor, she kisses him, but he is still so angry. He hugs her, looks and sees Espe. “Esperanza esta aqui,” he says. We see her running into the room, Gen then Rubes following behind. Dude, be more obvious guys. Oh I am sure Gen is loving this. She stops her right in the room, screaming things so that obviously everyone will now know she was his amante. And up walks Mayra. Meanwhile, everyone watches on, including Tere, who says it is the best wedding present ever. Mayra recognizes her from the hospital. She asks how long, Espe asks forgiveness. Mayra yells at her, showing her insecurity by choosing the word joven: you think because you are so young you can destroy a marriage? “Como te atreves a venire aqui. Eres una descarada?” (How dare you come here? Are you shameless?) Mayra wants to know how long. She begs her to answer and when she doesn’t she slaps her. AH! Stop hurting Esperanza!!!! Also, more people in the background with professional cameras snapping photos, lol. Mayra and Gen leave. Arturo calmly asks Esperanza to leave. She apologizes and says she only wanted to talk to Teresa for a moment. It’s not the moment or the place, says Tere. Leave please, and she will look for her later. Espe tries to apologize but Tere tells her to leave. Hernan appears to take her away. (Where were you when she was being assaulted in the bathroom!) Tere takes a moment to say, poor me my wedding is a disaster, after all the planning I put into it!

Teresa also takes the moment to say, see! I didn’t send the divorce papers. Arturo and Ruben apologize to her. She points the blame at Aida.

Gen and Mayra are at the Bigote house, yelling about the scandal.

Esperanza and Hernan are at an outdoor table of a restaurant talking about what just happened. Esperanza feels so bad about it. She isn’t eating. He assures her that it is a good thing they went because Mariano was there. She talks about how she used to imagine that happening, telling his wife, but that was before she knew she was being as deceived as she was.

Back to the fiesta! Ref and Arm are dancing and, woah! Smiling! Hector and Juana talk at the table. Aurora and Martin show up. Martin asks if they will dance. At the same time, he says no way! And she says, she’d love to (or something like that.) Martin asks Juana to dance. This leaves Hector to talk to his hija. He is glad she is with Martin. He says that Martin has been real good to her, whereas Mariano has only made her sad.

Mariano and Aida show up at the clinic. They send Magda on her way. Aida is basically trying to egg him on.
There is a scene that cuts up my favorite scene of Espe and Hernan. She says she will always be alone with her baby. He says no she won’t. She’s young, good, can’t she see he looooooves her?

Now to my favorite scene of the night! Arturo and Luisa are dancing. (Watching people dance in scenes like this ALWAYS makes me laugh.) Teresa and Fernando are also dancing with each other. The song ends and, of course, we segue into a slow song. (Fernando looks so different without his facial hair!) Slow song starts and people are coupling up. Including Arturo and Luisa. (Is it weird to dance with your brother? Never had a brother… but if I did with my cousin, it would be weird.) Fernando holds out his hand for Teresa and she takes it demurely. They get up close and the camera zooms in on his hand, first touching her waist, then up to the bare skin shown off by the halter top. They are intensely looking at one another.
T: Pasa algo Fernando? (Is something wrong, Fernando?)
F: No.
T: Entonces, porque me miras asi? (Then why are you looking at me that way?)
F: De que hablas? Como... como te estoy mirando? (what are you talking about? How… how am I looking at you?)
T: No se. Me siento rara. Siento... tu miradas eso a mi. En que piensas Fernando? (I don’t know. I feel strange. When you look at me that way. [I think I missed some words here!])
F: Ya te lo dicho. Mi amigo es muy afortunado tener como esposa.... checks her out... un mujer como tu. De verdad, eres extraordinaria. (I already told you, my friend is very lucky to have for a wife…a woman like you. Really, you are extraordinary.)

Luisa and Arturo. Luisa is happy that he is starting his life with Teresa. He is going to be very happy with her. Luisa feels the same way with Fernando.

T: Porque me siento que te quieres decir algo mas, Fernando? (Why do I feel like you want to say something else, Fernando?)
F: Despiertas muchas passiones, Teresa. [Smiles.] Me quedo claro a ver el tipo ese que se aparecio en la iglesia. (You awake a lot of passion, Teresa. It was clear to me when that guy appeared in the church.)
T: Mariano era un vecino que es siempre esta enamorado de mi. Pero no entiendo porque hice todo esto. Porque se puse hacer? (Mariano is a neighbor who was always in love with me. But I don’t understand why he did all this. Why did he do it? [Again I think I misheard some words..])
F: Porque es un mujer tan bella que puedes volver loco a cualquiera…. Si no me creas, mira nada mas como tienes Arturo. (Because you are a woman so beautiful you could drive anyone crazy…. If you don’t believe me, look at how you’ve got Arturo.) [She looks at Arturo and everyone smiles, then more intense looks between Fernando and Teresa. Fast song comes on and they lighten up briefly, dancing apart, then she puts her arms on his shoulders and they dance happily together.]

Back to Espe and Hernan. She says she will never love anyone. He says she is so young. Plus, she’ll have a baby. She can’t just date people. Her child will be the love of her life. Don’t worry, Ledesma. You’ll get her in the end. I HOPE!
Back to Genoveva and Mayra. Crying. Complaining. Gen is pretending to be a friend. Mayra says some things about the person you most trust betraying you. She can count on Gen, though. She knows she would never betray her. HAH.

Aida has Mariano’s clothes on so she doesn’t ruin her dress. They are planning to paint.

Back to the wedding. Refugio tells Teresa that they are leaving. She has nothing to celebrate. Hah apparently she hasn’t even checked with Armando on this. Typical. Arm gets her to actually continue dancing. Juana shows up and asks about the scandal with some woman, she was in the bagno. (Maybe her and Cutb are good together. Both gossip. But I love Hector!) Tere tells Juana what went down.
Throwing the bouquet. Juana catches it.

Cutberto and Pati’s maid. She asks him to sing a song for her, the one about the green eyes. Of courseeeeee. He doesn’t want to sing it.

Juana sits down with the bouquet and Martin says something about another wedding soon. Hector gulps. Aurora takes him to escape to the dance floor again.

Refugio and Armando are dancing and talking.

Juana and Teresa talk about the bouquet. Tere says this she will marry Hector soon! I think I like the flowers in Tere’s hair; I like the way her hair is done. Juana tries to bring up Cutb but they are interrupted by Arturo who waves Tere over to him. In come the Mariachis. We all know where this is going. It’s Cutb. Singing about green eyes.

Gen and Mayra. Ruben shows up. Gen leaves. Mayra and Ruben fight. The important part of this conversation is that Ruben blames Teresa. Mayra makes a good point, saying, oh clearly, Teresa must have forced him to have an affair. But then he tells her that Esperanza and Teresa are neighbors. Naturally this means that it WAS all Teresa’s fault. (Except this wasn’t. It was the Rubigote!) Mayra actually buys this.

Aida and Mariano preparing to paint. She tries to kiss him. He doesn’t. She prods about Teresa and then tries to say they’ll forget her. He listens, then asks for forgiveness.

Aurora and Teresa. Aurora has to leave for work. But first Aurora presses Tere about her feelings for Mariano. Teresa evades and says that’s what Aurora is doing with Martin. Aur says, no, Martin knows everything. That Aurora loves Mariano.

Juana and Cutberto talk. The usual. He insults Hector. She threatens him with a spoon and says he touches her and she kills him!

Mayra is distraught. She tells Aida the news that she met the amante. And that Teresa and Esperanza are best friends. For a second I thought that Aida might think it was Aurora! Tere has a lot of ‘best friends.’ Aurora, Esperanza, Luisa, and possibly you could count Juana, too.

Ref and Arm at home in PJs. Usual there, too. Arm is happy, Ref is not, tells Arm he is wrong, and Teresa is NOT happy. She can buy all the luxuries she has always wanted but she doesn’t love him. She feels bad for El Lic. He loves her as much as Mariano but she doesn’t love him. She prays Tere will love Arturo.

Espe is telling Johnny what happened. He leaves and in blows Aida. She is pissed and she hits Espe, too. Stop hitting her, people!!! She calls her a slut. Espe begs forgiveness and Aida keeps hitting her. She gets that from papa! Espe runs into the Chavez home and Aida follows. She calls her a whore and yells at all of them in the house. She tells Esperanza that she was just a cat that her dad liked to play with. Aida insults Tere (who is not even there) and her parents object. She calls them all igualitas and says they are all going to pay! She leaves.

Ay, Paloma. And she is crying. Sorry, but I can’t care about her either. Stop crying! You’re pathetic! Okay, that was a little harsh. But I don’t care! Martin tells her that Mariano tried to break up the wedding. Paloma remembers seeing them kiss in the park way back when (she believed that Tere was Arturo’s wife with child.)

Cancun! Ooh, sexy wedding night music. He carries her over the threshold. She admires the room, filled with candles and roses. He says, “Ya eres mi esposa, y por fin, vas a ser mi mujer.” Her face falls but she tries not to show it. Come on, Tere, you knew this was coming! I swear by sleeping with Mariano the other night she made it way worse for herself. Anyhoooo, that is where we end for today!

Tomorrow, Clinking glasses, neck kissing, crying (naked?) in the dark, missing Mariano, Hottie Prof without a shirt!! Mariano apologizes to Aida, Mariano shirtless, too!! Aida and Gen scheming. A new plan starts tomorrow.

Please correct me on any mistakes! Gracias!

Lucky you Samantha! Don't feel guilty, I'd would have given my eye teeth to sleep late today.

Will wait for your recap, but oh boy, that dance. Even the shark music played...shape of things to come I'm sure. And they way she turned and smiled at Art, then turned back and gave the same look to Fer. Man, she doesn't waste time.

Mini cap:

Mariano confronts Teresa and tells her she makes him sick and what would she do if he told Arturo they slept together the prior night.

Aida & Dr. Hernan el Galan convince Mariano to go away. Then Arturo comes out, sees Mariano & starts yelling at him. But Aida & Hernan convince Arturo they're taking Mariano away.

Meanwhile Hector the Director is telling Aurora that he's glad she's with Martin instead of Mariano and Mariano needs to control himself or risk losing the support of The Important People.

Meanwhile, Espe comes busting in the reception hall but gets locked in the ladies bathroom with Ruben & Gen, and Ruben roughs her up. Espe escapes and runs into the reception hall to find Teresa, with Ruben yelling at her. Mayra finds out Espe is/was Ruben's amante and screams at her on the dance floor. The wedding photographer is furiously snapping pictures!

Espe cries, Teresa throws her out of the reception and after Espe leaves, throws her under the bus to Arturo.

Mayra is comforted by Gen who tells her Espe is Teresa's best friend.
Espe is comforted by Hernan.

Mariano is comforted by Aida, who changes into bummy clothes to paint the dispensario.

Refusio is refusing to dance and generally being Debbie Downer.

Cutberto flirts with Griselda then takes off for his gig. The gig is singing at Arturo/Teresa's wedding. Juana is like "of all the mariachis to get, you had to get this one." Teresa is pissed.

Aida comes home and Mayra is curled up in a ball. Aida tells her mom that she hates Teresa, and Mayra tells her she hates Teresa more.

Hotel Room in Cancus: Arturo tells Teresa finally she will be his woman. Teresa looks like OH $#!t

Avances: Teresa is curled up in a ball in the sheets. I guess she had to go through with becoming Arturo's woman. Maybe Paloma should have shown up in Teresa's bedroom and flashed Arturo, then Teresa would have become his woman with gusto.

Oh yeah, I forget about the Teresa/Fernando dancing scene. Totally inappropriate for Fernando to be googly-eying Teresa on the dance floor.

Looking forward to your recap, Samantha.
In view of what happened in Capitulo 64, I think it is evident that Aida is not particularly interested in Mariano except as a sort of weapon to point at Tere. She is not a good enough person for Mariano.
What a wild wedding. A lot of the hornet's nest was Tere's doings.
I loved the scene with Martin and Aurora giving a quick toast to the bride's parents and then high tailing it out of there.
Yikes, then Tere has the nerve to promise all kinds of things with her eyes to Fer!! They were crawling all over each other and he was a willing participant. Poor Luisa. I hope she discovers it before it is too late.
Yeah, Anon207, there was all kinds of comfort needed after. Everyone had to comfort everyone else, like after a national disaster.

I think Aida IS interested in Mariano despite herself. Yes, she's with him for revenge, but I do believe she does like him. Now will she be able to overcome her prejudices? Probably not.

The problem is, she is such an empty person she doesn't have much to offer yet. Perhaps she will change.

Looking forward to the recap Samantha. The dance between Teresa and Fernando was chockfull of sexual tension. Definitely foreshadowing of bad days ahead for Arturo and Luisa. Poor Esp she couldn't catch a break. She gets manhandled by Ruben, slapped by Mayra, and slapped and chased up the stairs by Aida.

It looks as though I was wrong and the marriage is consumated in the previews. Our little shark doesn't look too happy. I'd gladly trade places with her and be with the professor hottie.

That moment when Fer puts his hand on the small of Tere's back..yowza! You could cut the sexual tension with a knife. All I kept thinking is poor Art and Luisa.

Speaking of those with misfortune, poor Espe! She is having one awful day. While she was getting roughed up and slapped around by the whole Bigote family, I kept worrying that she would lose her baby.

Can't wait for the recap Samantha! Thanks for giving us a preview Anon207.

So both the wedding and the reception are scandal laden events. If we didn't already know that this marriage probably won't last that long, all those bad things happening was confirmation. And then her dance with Fernando, Oh. My. Goodness. She's not even married a day and already priming Plan B. And what will become of Luisa and Art.

Poor Espe had a really horrible day just because she was trying to stop Mariano. I too was afraid with all those people slapping her around, she'd loose the baby.

Though watching Aida attack Espe was awful, I wonder what the writers have in store for us when she finds out about Gen and her Dad?

Thanks for the mini recap Anon207 and looking forward to your work Samantha.

Hey everyone! The post is up. Thanks for the mini recap Anon207!!
Oooh I am excited to see where this is going. This telenovela has definitely got me hooooked! That dancing scene, I watched it four times. Sexual tension is right. Wow. Great acting by both of them!
And I was worried about Espe's baby, too. When she ran away from Aida I actually yelled out, 'Don't go UP STAIRS!!'
My bad with the lateness.. Crazy few weeks! Also, next week I WILL BE ABLE TO RECAP but the week after, the 8th, I WILL NOT. I'll be in a truck crossin the country. I will try and get computer access but either way, if anyone wants to sub for me, leave a comment and we can talk!

Great recap Samantha! I also loved the scene with Dr. Ledesma and Espe at the restaurant. He was looking at her with sooo much love in his eyes. But it seems that he is waiting patiently until she is ready to move on.

The only thing I would add is that when Mayra saw Espe and Geno outed her as Ruben's lover, all the pieces clicked. She realized in that moment that this was the woman who showed up on her doorstep 3 years ago, meaning the affair must have been going on for a LONG time and wasn't just some "adventure" as Ruben has said. She also realized that this was the same woman who was Aida's nurse in the hospital. All of these things, along with finding out she is one of Teresa's best childhood friends, convinced her that this was all some pre-planned plot by Teresa to get at Aida's family. That's why she was so quick to jump on that idea now.

Yes, yes, that is true Vivi! That is a good point that I left out. Thanks for adding it in!!
Poor Mayra. And can I say, I think that is really good casting with her as Aida's mother. They look like they could be related!

Samantha, thanks for the wonderful recap and especially the word by word description of one the smaltziest novela scenes ever, Teresa verbally getting. it. on. with Fernando at her own wedding reception. Everyone here at our fun little Caray blog KNEW that this was just a matter of time and it was sooner rather than later! The great irony in all of this is that Teresa was so worried that her parents were going to embarrass her then she proceeds to make herself into a conspicuous ramera wanna be at her own wedding.

Anon207, you should be a substitute here, your mini-recap was great. I noticed the same sentence that you quoted from Juana, “of all the mariachis to get, you had to get this one." It so reminded me of the great line in Casablanca, “of all the gin joints in the world”.......

I think the reason that we are enjoying this wedding so much is that most novela church bodas are at the end when all the conflicts are settled and everyone is basking in glorious happiness, but in our Teresa, nothing is settled and it is a big, fat collision of every poor miss-adjusted character in our fictitious village. As luck would have it, my husband watched the episode with me, and even speaking no Spanish, he got a big bang out of all the action!! You didn’t need to understand a word of the language to see what was happening with Teresa and Fernando.

Espe thought that someone who DIDN’T love her DID and now can’t see Hernan the Galan DOES love her! Poor girl!

What about Luisa and Martin? He is a great guy and she is a cute girl.

Yeah, poor, poor Teresa has to have sex with Arturo. I hope she can manage it.

Emarie-right?! Something tells me if it was Fernando she had to sleep with she'd push through.
Sandy-I am glad it is sooner rather than later! This novela moves pretty fast, or it seems to be anyway, so I am excited to see what happens with Fern & Tere... though poor Art and Luisa. When they were so happily dancing, I really felt bad for them because we know what's coming.

Hey, for all the old fogeys like me, that song "Aquellos Ojos Verdes" is a very old favorite. I loved hearing it.

Thank you for the recap Samantha!

I think the wedding was fun.By the way, it was filmed near my place in DF. I've passed by that church a couple of times.

Dr. Ledesma is the best galán in this telenovela, so sweet with Esperanza. But I do feel bad for Mayra.

Teresa is playing with fire by flirting with Fernando.

Jarocha

Thanks Samantha you captured everything.

Teresa so enjoyed the scene of Espe being outed in front of all of her wedding guests.

The dance with Fernando wow poor Luisa and Arturo don't even have a clue.

I was worried about Espe and her baby too and Aida had no right to slapped her maybe her mother did but she didn't.

Finally this is the ugliness of Aida and her obsession with Teresa no this time it wasn't Teresa's fault that your mother discovered who your father's lover it was you and your revenge. I can't wait for you to discover that Mariano the man who is part of your plot to get back at Teresa knew this also.

By the way whatever she plans to cook up with Geno to get back at Teresa is sure to blow up in her face once more.let's hope it's the discovery that Geno is also her father's other lover.

Let's hope this time finally Mariano walks away from Teresa for good.

I like the idea of Martin ending up with Luisa.

Everyone is acting like Arturo is old and greasy like Padilla on TdA. He's not. He's hot. He's hotter than lizard-like Fernando. No wonder Paloma can't forget about him. So Teresa if you don't want him, there are plenty of people who will.

Oh, this novela is sooo gooood. Thanks Samantha and Paquita for these fabulous recaps. They are so entertaining and helpful (translations and vocab.)

Poor Espe was being abused, verbally and physically, by everyone. At least, she didn't topple down those perilous stairs as many pregnant women do in the novelas.

Teresa must face the music tonight with Arturo. Is this woman blind...take a look at Arturo. I guess she'll be thinking of cars or jewels or furs to make it bearable.

GinCA

Scarlett O'Hara's true soulmate love was Rhett Butler. She just didn't realize it until too late. She always thought Ashley was her true love. Scarlett O'Hara married Rhett because she needed money "I will never be hungry again" she declared out in the field, after upchucking raw carrots. Scarlett never liked sleeping with Rhett because she was constantly thinking of Ashley. But Scarlett loved the life Rhett provided for her. Scarlett was forever saying, "All that's missing in my life is Ashley".

Now, that being said:
Arturo is Rhett
Mariano is Ashley.

Arturo is Teresa's true soulmate, she just doesn't know it yet. She would never be happy with Mariano (Just like Scarlett realized she would never be happy with Ashley)

Arturo will do everything to make Teresa happy and Teresa will enjoy it.

Scarlett was forever a flirt. Even when married. It was in her DNA. Scarlett was Scarlett, God love her.
Same goes with Teresa. She knows she can cast spells on any man, and she uses that fact to her advantage. Same as Scarlett did. It doesn't mean Teresa is planning on dumping Art and going for Fern, it means she will get what she can out of Fern also.

Plus, in TV land church weddings are forever. So I see plenty of Rhett-like behavior developing in the future. And remember, Rhett got pretty mean and stern with Scarlett at times.

This TN mirrors Margaret Mitchell's characters very clearly.

Love it!!!

Diann

Samantha, thanks for the fantastic recap! You must be so excited about moving.

Jarocha, I'm jealous that you get to pass by telenovela locations. I wish I got to do that.

Last night was the best wedding ever, heh, just like Samantha's title says. And those darn photographers just love the drama. I thought it was hilarious how when the mariachis showed up Hector told Juana "that guy has a nice voice". First of all Cutberto was rather off key, second of all did Hector recognize him as Juana's ex? Does he know about Cutberto? I couldn't remember.

Poor Teresa, such a horrible wedding, constantly shamed by her parents, and now forced to have sex with that wretched Arturo. Sucks to be you Tere...NOT.

Poor Esperanza probably felt like whack-a-mole last night. No matter where she popped up she got smacked. But yes, as GinCa says, at least she didn't topple down those ubiquitous stairs. They always make me nervous.

Thanks Samantha!

"This TN mirrors Margaret Mitchell's characters very clearly." Doesn't it Diann. If I see a ""This is one night you're not turning ME out!"" staircase scene with Arturo and Teresa like Rhett and Scarlet, I will scream.

Jarocha- Have you ever gone by the Teresa vecinidad. Apparently it's become quite popular:
Van Dick 73, also known as La vecindad de Teresa, is the street address of the famous low-income apartment complex used in the telenovela. The vecindad was used as the home setting for Teresa, Mariano, Esperanza, Juana, and Cutberto and their families. It is located in the Benito Juárez delegación in Mexico City. The building boasts a simple architecture in the traditional Nonoalco colonia. The vecindad is painted a light lavender on the top, with a crimson on the lower bottom. The vecindad is said to be 70 years old, making its construction date somewhere near 1940. Sunken windows and cracked paint, as well as exposed areas of the brick are evidence of the building's aging and apparent need for reconstruction. The vecindad has attracted many people who watch Teresa, and the street names "Van Dick" and "Leonardo Da Vinci" of the location's intersection appear in the telenovela. The vecindad is in a apparent state of deterioration, it has been claimed that it will be demolished in a few months.

Samantha, thanks for the great recap! Especially all the detail and tension of the dancing scenes; those were excellent.

Vivi, that's really interesting about the vecindad. I'm always interested in the scenery, and I've been looking at that setting since the beginning of the show and thinking it must be real and not a soundstage set. It would be really hard to make something new look that accurately grimy and deteriorated. I must say, as a structural engineer I've been a bit concerned about those cantilevered upstairs walkways.

Vivi: I haven't visited the place. It is interesting to know it's in the Benito Juárez delegation because that's the wealthiest of all the delegations in DF, but the PAN party runs it since almost twenty years ago so of course they wouldn't be interested in it. The church is in the delegation of Coyoacán and I live in a delegation next to it, almost at the border with it.

The other day I found out that they are taping a novela from Azteca called "Emperatriz" with Gaby Spanic at about four streets from my place, I went to have an ice-cream with my friends and the vans were all there with the cammeras and sound equipment but I didn't see any of the actors. I started checking out the novela to see if I recognized the locations and I could recognize the houses and the streets, it was fun.

Jarocha

Pirate Babe,
Are you a GWTW expert like myself? It will be fun commenting with you as this TN plays on. I call myself an "expert" because it is my favorite book and movie of all time. I can't tell you how many times I have read the book or seen the movie. When you can quote lines, you know you're hooked.
Fernando is probably another Frank Kennedy......minus the marrying part. Jajajaja

Diann

Maybe that's why I love Teresa, I love Scarlett......
Jajajaja
Diann

Oh my that is so cool that it is near your place Jarocha! Hah, I would love to see the vecindad, too. Too bad it is being demolished like Vivi said. It is pretty cool that they used a real vecindad. There should be a telenovela tour of the DF--it should end with a tour and lunch at Televisa! I would love to see a bunch of the places they use. The house in LLena, the house in TdA/Tontas, Arturo's house, etc. I would love to see all of those places... I am sure there are more places but I can only think of houses right now!
Ok, so you all have me hooked. I think one of the books I will bring on the cross country trip will be GWTW. Have never read it, but it definitely sounds like something I would enjoy. Especially if there are so many parallels to Teresa!

Pobre Tiburoncita; I'll take your place if you don't like sleeping with Arturo. ;D

Our little shark's Karmageddon will come down like the wrath of all the gods after all these shenanigans. I wonder whether Fernando followed them on their luna de miel.

@Diann. I've read the book and watched the movie hundreds of times. I think I may watch it tonight because like you I see so many parallels between the characters in GWTW and the characters in Teresa.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that the word "gata" which literally means "cat" in Spanish is used in Mexico as a derrogatory way to refer to someone as a "maid" or "servant"... hence, it was one of the litany of insults that Aida was heaping on poor Esperanza...
