Triunfo del Amor #111 5/13/11 Ultimatums and Deflate-ums

The patients are continuing to run the asylum in this part of the D.F. as Viewerville prepares to peek in on it’s current crop of crazies. The other shoe is hanging loosely on one toe and still rocking for Max as Maria learns from Guillermo that Max has been married to his bio-daddy’s ex-lover all this time and thinks that his little half-brother, Osguito, is really his baby son; so it goes without saying that Max was duped into marrying Jimena when he could have married her! But, as Gui adds coolly, that’s life in the big city these days. (What? As opposed to back in the hills and the hollers? Hmmm. This is in addition to Max’s having a lovechild by Maria, his step-mother’s other daughter, who is also his half-sister’s half-sister. I mean this ain’t exactly your ordinary family tree here--more like hedges and thickets. Can’t you just picture the mess it would make on ancestors.com! Damn! It almost sounds unhealthy!) Alonso, having sneaked into Maria’s bedroom to put up another surprise on the wall for her and little Juan Pablito, gets an earful of Gui’s guile-filled revelations through the closed door and gets off  a couple of major WTF? eye-rolls.

Meanwhile, in Ste. Bernarda’s sanctum sanctorum, Rudolfo Padilla gripes at her for not helping him get his final revenge on the Sandovals for supposedly causing his son’s death. Burnie takes a supercilious sip of her sherry and asks if he doesn’t trust in God’s use of her as his avenging angel. Rudy knows this old broad’s a couple jokers short of a full deck and ignores Doña Dementa’s metaphysical minefield this time. He reminds her that a rabid dog will bite even the hand of its master. From the expression on her face Burnie has received his message loud and clear.

Downtown at Casa Victoria The Redux, Pepi mentions how gorgeous the models look. Vic breaks into another jarring and totally shameless plug for Sedal hair products. (Spare me!) FF>>

Back at Maria’s, Grandpa Gui gives his version of his affair with Leonela long ago and why he left Max with Oz instead of claiming him as his son: he loved Looni-ella tremendously, but then she got mixed up in that murder and landed in jail. It was much better for Max if Oz and Vic kept him. Of course, Gui wonders aloud, what will poor Max think once he finds out that he’s been sleeping with his bio-daddy’s lover and that Osguito is Ji and Gui’s lovechild rather than his own. (More WTF? eye-rolls from Lonnie here.) Gui admits he wanted to tell Max early on that he was his real father once the baby was born, but says Oz refused to put another burden on poor Maxie since there was enough worrying him as to whether the baby would even live. Gui smoothly incorporates the bit about Oz supposedly deciding to “graciously” give him his part of the theater then.

Maria knows better and so story time is over. She doesn’t appreciate being downwind from this lying bloated bag of bull feces and lets him know it. “--Don’t give me that! You blackmailed him for it!” Gui stands up to leave and says he’ll be back for more q.t. with his grandson. As he walks out the door he snickers to himself that now it’s Oz who really hasn’t any grandchildren; and that using Jimeana to get back at him was a stroke of genius.

Speaking of Jimmie, Gui gets to his sports car and sees a rock’s been thrown through the window and smashed it. He gets in, but before he can drive off she’s there pointing a gun at his head and looking to hitch a ride back to his place. Seems she’s got murder in mind--his!

Back inside Maria’s apartment, Lon walks out of the bedroom door, excuses himself, explains why he was there, and admits that he heard the whole sick story. “--Just goes to show you that you can expect just about anything from Jimena.” Talk turns to the surprise he has for her and they walk into the bedroom. There on the wall is a life size picture of Juan Pablito and Maria sitting together. Maria is thrilled and Lon’s thrilled that Maria’s so thrilled. FF>>

Across town, Oz puts Fernanda to bed and has a father-daughter chat about life not always turning out the way you’d hoped. FF>>

Back to Maria: Lonnie takes Maria’s excitement as proof there’s still hope for the two of them to become a couple. Maria says sorry, but not a snowball’s chance in Hell of it. Lon says he’s a stubborn kind of guy and a sucker for stray animals and lost causes.

In the meantime, Ji and Gui arrive back at his place. He notices how zoned out on doctors’ downers she seems to be. (I can’t help but notice her new found fashion sense: white socks, black rubber sandals and all.....) Gui considers his next move while wisely agreeing with everything she says.

Back in the barrio, Lonnie talks Maria into letting him cook dinner for her. He’s certain his killing her with kindness will eventually cause her to fall in love with him.

Nathy is walking back home alone from the campus, obviously too late at night for something that boneheaded. She’s flipping through a copy of her thesis and not really paying attention to anything around her. Scorpion Face starts stalking her. Nat thinks she’s being followed, but when she turns around there’s no one there. She keeps on walking. El Alacrán throws a stocking mask over his face and jumps her. She manages to get loose with a well aimed kick to the groin, but he recovers and races after her.

Juanjo and Napo, meanwhile, are returning home from work. In between their discussion of whatever brainless macho topic de jour, they begin to hear screams for help and realize it Nathy. They race towards the commotion where a stocking faced attacker has managed to drag and drop Nat. They scare masked El Alacrán away before the pervert gets what he came for. JJ races after him but eventually loses him. Afterwards, JJ promises he’ll be there to walk her back from campus when she needs it because it’s just too dangerous to walk alone along Mexico City streets so late at night. (DUH!)

Ji finds out that Leonela is living with Gui now and so she demands to talk to her. She’s out picking up guys at some bar apparently, so she may be a while. (Hey, she’s got twenty years to make up for so we will cut her some slack.) Ji refuses to leave until she’s spoken to her.

The cops come looking for Jimena at Burnie’s and speak with Roxy. She claims she has no idea where her little daughter could be. Before leaving, the detectives warn her that if Ji commits a crime while she’s loose, both Roxy and her daughter will go to jail. Shudder the thought, thinks Roxy!

Back at the vecindad, after Lon has done the dishes, talk turns to Maria getting offered another cosmetics contract. Maria thinks her underlying sadness will show through and detract from the message. Lon seems to think the opposite and says besides, nobody is completely cheery totally all the time and who better to demonstrate how radiant a depressed female can look? (I have no idea what the purpose of that conversation was, so don’t ask.) There’s also some conversation about what he sees when he photographs her. (Again, more meaningless bunkum and filler.) She mentions she’s gone back to work for Vicki so the cosmetics contract is a no-go proposition anyway. Lon can’t understand why she’d go back to working for that wigged out bruja. “--For Max.” He grimaces. “--Always for Max!”

Back at Gui’s, Ji keeps popping pills and guzzling glasses of Gui’s best Bacchic offerings till she finally blacks out on his couch. Gui grabs her pistol and starts to take aim, but luckily for Ji, Looni walks through the front door. Gui backs off and hides the weapon in his pocket. “--Who’s she?” “--Max’s ex-wife.”

Back at Milagros and JJ’s we find out that Cruz has signed up for a singing contest with a prize of 100,000 pesos (roughly $8500 American). Mili has also signed up (I think?).  JJ tells her to fagedabowdit and gets a swat on his butt with a broom handle because of his cheeky attitude.

Lon and Maria are in the bedroom about to toast to his future possibilities with Maria and J Pito at his side when she notices he’s got a nosebleed. Lonnie starts staggering towards the bed, and then passes out and falls on it.

A few minutes later, Lon is babbling loudly in a feverish delirium about loving Maria and begging her not to leave him. She’s putting damp compresses on his forehead. Max walks in on the two of them just as she has taken off his shirt and shoes. Max explodes and demands to know what Lon is doing there in her bed half-naked. Poor Maria looks like a kid caught with her hands in the cookie jar as she tries to explain. Max assumes the worst, and well, Max, we all know how assume breaks down. (Max better crank back his macho a bit or Maria may very well tell him to stuff it where the sun don’t shine.)

Back at Casa de los Scandal-val, Oz surprises Vicki in the bedroom with a bouquet of flowers. This seems to do the trick for Vick and the two start gettin’ busy.

Vick’s posse, meanwhile, is at Oscar’s having a toast to the re-launch of Casa Victoria.

Back in Maria’s bedroom, Max says he thinks Lon is pretending and he tries to get him to own up to it. No luck. Lonnie’s out like a light. While Max is arguing with Maria he hears him start to babble something about Ji and her killing their baby. Maria explains that Ji and Alonso had a relationship a while back and that she aborted their baby without Alonso knowing a thing about it. Max says he could care less about anything to do with Jimena. Maria tells him it’s obvious the guy is ill and needs to be taken to the doctor. Max says no way he’ll take him! They aren’t nursemaids! Throw him in a taxi and let the driver take him in! Maria can’t believe the callous tone. She gives up trying to placate Max. Instead of being so suspicious, she says, he should be helping her to get him to the hospital. What is his problem, anyway, she asks??

They go into the other room to argue. Max says he’s totally fed up with Lon always sticking his nose in where it’s not wanted and that all their problems have been because of him. (Is that before or after Vicki decided to make her life miserable, I wonder? Or, before or after Jimeana tricked him into marrying her and dumping Maria?)

At Oscar’s again, the gang is ready to go home. After getting a clarification of Lucy and Fabian’s living arrangement, Pepi teases Oscar and Toni. He leaves Toni there in hopes of forcing the two of them to have a little heart to heart and hopefully, then, lots of cheek to cheek after. Oscar certainly looks up for it.....

Meanwhile, at los Scandal-val, Vic and Oz are making progress in a similar direction till Vic suddenly pulls away because she still can’t get past his affair. She races out of the room. Poor Oz is once again left with his family jewels turning various shades of sapphire....

We return to the vecindad as Maria insists she only loves Max and he should realize that by now. He says naw, if things were reversed she wouldn’t put up with it either. In fact, he remembers how jealous she was when he married Ji. He is sure, he says, this is her way of getting back at him for it! Maria reminds Max that she’s not a vindictive person and what she feels for Alonso is simply gratitude and friendship. Max says fine, then prove it! Maria wonders how. “--Don’t see him again. You’ll have to decide between him and me-- and do it right now!”

Will somebody please put this into the feeds? Thanks!

Jardinera, excellent.

Leonela, hey crazy lady, may I buy you a drink?

Sorry. I'm totally smitten by this beautiful lunatic. Honestly, I almost think that I could rehabilitate her.

I know... she's soulless, but that's the beauty of TNs... reality is out there, we're in here...

In TNs, generally nosebleeds mean leukemia (see the CmE site). In children it's 100%... in adults... could be less. In this case... leukemia. In children the cure rate in TNs is 90%... in this case... 0%. Sorry Alonzo, adiós.

As for the talent competition, Cruz, get a new song.

Carlos

Good work, Jardinera.

Only Aurora has a more convoluted set of relationships than this one. At least so far, and both take place in seriously overpopulated cities!

Does nobody have locks on their doors in D.F.?

Osvaldo must be the son of Superman and Lois Lane to be able to carry Victoria to bed so soon after his exit from the hospital.

I am guessing that Ximeana will be the one to do in Leonela.

Whatever Alonso has it's really making him delusional now.

Cruz, get a really great traje de charro and a good razor.

Really Jardinera - what a awesome snark fest! Just what this episode deserved. Great recap! Loved the twisted family tree intro.

...turning various shades of sapphire - snort! Poor Osvaldo!

The nosebleed is also often used as a brain cancer symptom on TNs. And in combination with obsessive behavior and feverish rants - that's probably a clincher.

Audrey

Jardinera - Thank you for the recap. I missed the first half of it, so you filled in the missing info. You had me LOL, especially with Can’t you just picture the mess it would make on ancestors.com!

Sheesh! There were so many drunks in this episode -- Xi, Leo, Scorpion guy - they could form their own AA chapter. Gah….

I posted this on the Thursday night recap, but since blogspot.com was still wacky, I'm posting it here again:

Dear Beloved TdA Recappers,
When this tontería goes back to two-hour episodes, you have my vote to not watch and try to recap/recrap it all. Just start a topic here where we can all complain about the episode. And the characters. And Meh-jía. Seriously.

Audrey - I was thinking nosebleed = cancer, too. Most likely a brain tumor?

This was such a ridiculous episode Jardinera, and you provided the perfect snarky recap. I posted it on Delicious for you.

I like the theory that Loni has a brain tumor. That would be the only explanation for the crazy behavior.

I don't know what would explain the kooky behavior of Vicky and Max (who are supposedly sane and healthy). Speaking of Max, I wanted to slap him silly. Actually Max, Maria did NOT throw a tantrum all those times you got her hopes up and then ran back to Xi because she was having a fit or some kind of health issue. And she NEVER gave you an ultimatum, although she probably should have. Get a grip and stop being a baby. Maria already has two of those to take care of, plus crazy/sick Loni.

Thanks for the excellent recap. I like the commentary. The remark about how this would jam up ancestors.com reminded me of the comment someone made about Mili on Guapos: "She's making her family tree into a wreath!"

Maria should seriously reconsider whether she wants to marry a guy who goes on a jealous rant instead of helping her get a sick guy to the hospital. Especially when he tries to forbid her to see said guy, or choose between them, or whatever, when she's REPEATEDLY told Max that she's chosen him and is noway, nohow getting together with Alonso. Lack of trust, control issues, short temper, general idiocy. Red flags everywhere. Maybe Maria can negotiate a group rate on brain surgeries and get the whole family in there after Alonso has his (likely) tumor addressed.

Vivi, your last paragraph describes my sentiments exactly.

Audrey, brain tumor works for me though it really pretty much negates Alonzo. If it accounts for the spooky stalker behavior then... sorry... everything he brought, including the good, is suspect.

Jardinera, your fabulous, funny recap made a wonderful end to a very blah Saturday. Thanks to you and to the other recappers this week. Didn't thank them because I only caught up reading late last night.

Nail on the Head Award goes to "this ain’t exactly your ordinary family tree here--more like hedges and thickets."

Vicki & Os rehabilitating their love was beginning to approach the "ick" factor of Gui and Leonela, so it's not all bad they stopped. I feel a little sympathetic toward Os, not at all toward Vicki. Is it because she's so obnoxious, or so stupid? Hard to decide.

Vicki's not Max's blood mother, so she can't have passed down the stupidity to him. Don't know how he developed that full range of stupid he had on display last night.

Nati breathed in some stupid as well, to walk home alone late at night. I usually root for her, but she had a really annoying mode of crying after the attack.

"more meaningless bunkum" is an absolutely accurate summation of our current situation here. I tend to side with Doris' suggestion that a full recap isn't necessary for the 2-hour episodes. I would be thrilled with a quick list of highlights, plus whatever snarky digs occur in passing. A detailed literary labor is asking too much for a two-hour block of someone's life.

Yes, I know I'm the only one making myself suffer through this. I'm sick that way, but I want to cheer for Cruz and Fausto.
La Paloma

This damn system just ate all my comments, guys! Sorry!

Max really annoyed and disappointed me with his treatment of Alonso when Alonso was stricken and laying on Maria's bed. (and I don't even like Alonslow!) Max treated him like he was a piece of rubbish or a mangy dog, with all that 'come on now, get up, on your way, get outta here' stuff. Good grief, this is not the way to be a sympathetic protagonisto.

Too bad Leo interrupted Gui's opportunity to shoot Xi. Perhaps Xi will simply OD herself to death.

Jardinera - I have learned (the hard way, many times) to "copy" my comment before I hit the 'preview' button.

ViviDC - Thanks for posting.
Carlos: I credit your Walter Mitty and can only hope that the poor shlub Looni hooked up with was still alive when she left him!

Julia/Audrey/Carlos: I can't remember the last time they ever mentioned Leukemia by name, and knowing their penchant for tumors, they'll probably credit that despite what a bloody nose is symptomatic of.... either way, we knew he was doomed I guess.

Vivi/Julia: ITSA your rants re: Max's obnoxious and self-centered macho crap.

Doris: "There were so many drunks in this episode -- Xi, Leo, Scorpion guy - they could form their own AA chapter. " LOL!! You got that right!

UrbanA: You've got a point, but I gotta admit that the only thing I was marveling at was the size of those triceps! Tee Jee!

La Paloma: I want to root for Cruz too, but first he'll have to add to his repertoire. As for Fausto, somebody needs to send this guy to a good plastic surgeon before this show is over.

Doris: Yep. (Smacks forehead.) Tks!

Agreeing with Max. I think that alonso with his obsession, has driven Max to the brink. How can one not be suspicious, to walk in on what he saw? knowing alonzo loves her, knowing he is always over at her place. Maria has led alonzo on for so long. Sure she tells him they will never be an item, but she then allows him in, have dinner with her, make the dinner, do all kinds of things, instead of just keeping it business (cosmetics). she needs to take some of the blame.

Jardinena, Thanks for the great recap. You did a great job.

Jimena should just have shot Guillermo quickly instead of keep talking and drinking liquor. This along with being heavy on pills just did her in. I remember a movie where Kate Beckinsale's character says to one of Dracula's wife when Dracula's wife is trying to kill her. Kate's character says to Dracula's wife, “If you are going to kill someone just killed them instead of talking about it.” I thought of that statement here. Jimena should have just shot him or wound him.
I felt sorry for Nathalia when she is attacked by that ugly man. I thought she gets away from him, but she didn’t. At least, Juanjo and his friend came to the rescue.

Max - stop give ultimatiums in less you afford to lose Maria. Maria could have move on when you married Jimena and continue to be married to her. She didn't and give in to her pleas to forgive you. Besides one Alonso save you from being shot by Padilla - at least owe him. Be a man and trust Maria or lose her forever.

Genevieve

Jar--I can only hope you don't have to do too many 2-hr. sessions. I like the idea of bulleted highlights starting Monday. It's just too much to ask of our revered recappers to give us details we don't really need.

Did anyone notice in this episode that only Alonslow could make Maria laugh? Maybe Mejia didn't notice either--shame on him. It's Max that's supposed to be making her happy and bubbly and full of love and laughter.

I'm beginning not to care anymore about any of the adult relationships, if you can call them that. I do care where the babies end up.

So Alonslow has a fatal disease. That saves Mejia the trouble of deciding who Maria ends up without having to think too much.

Aacchhh, I agree--this is all getting too muddled and muddied by all the drunks, crazies and mixed up bloodlines. Pepino is the only exception.
Newbie-OK

Thank you so much for both your recaps, Jardinera.

Since Friday (when I found out about 2 hr episodes) I have gone back and forth between rage and near tears. Absolutely the worst.timing.ever. The week before exams.

I will definitely will be doing highlights. That is, if I even get it recorded. DVR only allows 2 shows at a time and every night TDA conflicts with 2 shows hubby already has recording...and we only have 1 TV.

Univison I hate you with a white hot passion.

Jardinera - thanks again. I find it hard to sit through an entire episode of this claptrap (especially after watching the fun of Teresa), but I gave it a try. When Max started on his ridiculous tirade on Alonso, and the started on Maria, yeah I went to the baseball game. I may not be able to understand everything, but even that snotty look on his face made me want to slap him. Talk about someone with erratic behavior - maybe we should watch for him to start having nosebleeds.

It makes it REALLY hard to think the likes of Vic or Max are worth routing for to have happy endings. it's like Llena all over again...let the hero, or heroine, in this case, walk off into the sunset alone versus living with these nutjobs.

Maybe the ending should be that Maria had fallen and hit her head at the orphange and this was all a bad dream.

I agree that for 2 hour shows, I am happy for the recappers to post highlights. Then we can all add our snark & funny comments on the events of the episode. I like that TDA will be on an hour earlier as most of the time I fall asleep when it's on the hour later. Really, I'd like some consistency. I only chose this TN b/c of the time it was supposed to be on every night.

I also wonder if Meija is subscribing to the fantasy that a person's first love is the only love. Because, from a non-beanie point of view, I'd like to see Maria run screaming from Max. Too many red flags all over the place! Not really happy with her ending up with Alonso either - he seems nice, but too needy. Maria needs a secure partner!

Ditto my choice of TDA matching my schedule. I got into STuD because it was on at a perfect time. Didn't conflict with hubby's shows, not on too late. When TDA started, I went with it. I've been seriously annoyed by Univision during the run of this show.

Frankly at two hours a shot I'm afraid that I'll start losing brain cells and end up like the complete idiots on this show.

I'm trying to decide who is the biggest idiot and fish lips Max and hair brained Maria are currently on the top of the list. Every time she lets Lon barge into her house and then sits around letting him cook for her and swill a few glasses of the grape she only encourages his delusion that someday she will love him. She keeps pushing him away but giving him signals that he can come closer.

Max has all the brain cells of a head of lettuce flipping out at every chance. Now he does the typical stupid ultimatum thing thing chose him or me. Me I'd boot both of them out of my life once and for all, pack my cross and kid and head for the hills.

Natty is a twit. No one in their right mind would wander the streets of the DF or many other places in Mexico in the dark of night without a care. The girl needs a can of mace at the very least but no. I couldn't believe that she ran into that garden with her bright colored blouse clearing showing and just stood there. Ever hear of hiding deep in the bushes. Oops I forgot like everyone else she doesn't have too many functioning brain cells.

Gui and his harem - the question is who will kill who. My choice is for them all to get in his speedy red car and drive off a cliff or better yet have Bernie blow it up and herself while she is at it.

Another vote for leukemia the tried and true disease of the moment in Novelaland. Al is either a goner or there will be a pretty but dumb nurse that will make him forget MD.I came in late to this so was there ever any hint of a relationship between him and Xi? Like Vic's rape, the abortion line seemed to come out of left field for me.

If and this is a big if there are only about 30 hours to go that means we will only need to endure 3 more weeks of this dreck. Totally agree that the poor recappers just bullet point the high lights oops low lights and we can snark to our hearts content.

Dani

Genevieve: yeah, Max should remember he owes one to Lon!

Dani: Welcome!

DaisynJay/ Newbie: Half of the script is becoming claptrap, so I love it when I am able to FF through 30-50% of the gab. ITA, Maria has only ever laughed when she's with Lonnie. Too bad the poor dude is doomed. I'd run off with him and hope for the best. But then, I've never really been turned off by him or thought of him as anything but a dude trying the best he can to get the girl --just like in the olden days pre-PC and sexist labels.

Sara: If you need me to sub this week just e-mail me. I still owe you a couple of nights!

Fabulous Jardinera, tk you.

Leonela's hair intrigues me. When she 1st appeared, it looked brown with an orange pony tail. Now it looks brown & blond stripped. She is very pretty though, she & Papa Padre make a very handsome couple.

Dani- As soon as Lon came on the scene and found out Maria was pregnant, he was so over the moon about it that he explained right away to Maria about the bad woman who broke his heart and aborted his baby. Then soon after that he ran into Xi and they had a big talk in which he confirms that she is a heartless beyatch, and she tells him to get over it. He confided all to Maria ages ago, but I guess Maria never got around to telling Max. Actually, for as much stuff that each of them has going on in their lives, when they get together they seem incapable of sharing anything other than I love yous. So many mysteries could have been solved if the two of them just stopped to compare notes every now and then. I wonder when she'll get around to telling Max what Xi said about baby Os, which has now been confirmed by Gui?

"Max has all the brain cells of a head of lettuce flipping out at every chance."

One of the nest comments EVER!! Should go on the sidebar.

Thanks for the laugh.

Jardienra thanks for giving us a great recap for this crap.

I the first time this novela went to two hours because it was dragging and there really wasn't anything going on for about the first 40-45 episdoes the first part seem like it was all filler episodes.Once it went to two hours it quickly got to the good part of the storyline but when that part came and went it went down hill again.

Teresa started up and they wanted that show to attract it's audience and it went to two hours i have to believe that it's doing well in the ratings over here. I really don't think what they have showing on Telemundo right now is that much competition.

I think they kept Teresa at two hours for TDA's sake to have a strong lead in but you don't want Teresa to end quickly because it is so good. I think they made the choice to end TDA as quickly as possible because the further along you go with this horrible story the worst it gets.

They should be in Ultimas Semanas in Mexico with this novela already. I don't know what will be TDA's replacement but since it's not a Mejia production that maybe it's saving grace.

All i can say about Max's attitude is really Maria should have left you a long time ago and you should be so lucky that she has been a walking doormat for you and your crazy family. A real sane young woman would have told you where to get off a long time ago when you chose Looney Tunes over her. Please Alonso is the blame for all of your problems? As Jardinera asked what about your conniving bi-polar step mother and your ex-crazy manipulative wife?

Jardinera thanks for your dedication to this unfortunate media event. However in true recapper form, the worse these things get the better the recaps and comments!! But seriously shouldn't this show be ending soon?

I just read that this mess will end on June 26 in Mexico and since we are a month behind that means the end of July. My only question is how much more crap can they add to the story. Let's see my wild guess would be Al's mystery illness, Fer finally walking, someone knocking off Loonyela and the resultant trial, or God forbid someone kidnapping one or both of the poor little babies and oh yeah Vic learning Maria is her missing daughter and an endless reconciliation period before the grand finale of Bernie going up in smoke after touching the cross. I have no idea how any of this plays out but based on 15 years of watching novela I'm taking my shot. God help us all.

Dani

Oh my stars - that much more? Well, I guess depending on your preference, I say we lay in the wine or bi-carbs and get ready for the next couple months. As Karen said, this board should be a must-read during that time. I look forward to all the wonderful snark. Let's have it.

Urban Anth: I don't want to edit your whole comment post, so I only edited out the part that's a no-no! I know at times it's difficult because one gets excited and doesn't always stop to think they could have written a spoiler without meaning to because they know the rest of the story from an earlier version. Thanks for your understanding. : > )

I suspect either or both of the babies will be kidnapped before the end of this tale. Wondering whether Alonso has any relatives (in EPDA he had a mother).

EPDA had 155 episodes, this will have a few more. And unless IMDB has an error, Cristal -- the original -- was 246 episodes.

Wow.

Jardinera, thank you once again for my weekend entertainment.

I was so angry with Max last week when he wanted to find a decent place for his asesina mother to live I was ready to wack him myself. I do not remember him ever telling Maria that she and the baby should not live in that hovel. At least Alsono is proactive and hanging pictures and making her smile.

I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks. We know that Cesar Evora is going to appear as a doctor. I don't know who he is going to save and I frankly don't care. He will be my reward for watching this TN.

Rosemary

Wow! Maybe the original was in 1/2 hour installments?

I am not sure what to say about this TN beyond thanking the recappers. Thank you, Jardinera, for another winning summary.

What has Max contributed to the upkeep of Maria or the baby, BTW? Has he even offered money or furniture or food. Alonso is not my favorite but at least he seems to have some human decency with regard to the essential needs of a single mother and her child.

But I digress with rationality. Two hours -- please recappers, do what works for you but don't burn up too much energy or brain cells on this.

If that were 246 1/2 hour episodes that would mean 123 hours (including ads). That's about right for the 80's.

Novelas have been getting longer and longer since then.

I don't know how much more than can possibly try to stretch this other than Victoria finding out Maria D. is her long lost missing daughter and Max finding out little Osguito isn't his what else is there for them to try to prolong this basura. They kind of missed the boat of Maria trying to move on from max in this version by having her re accepting being his other woman.

As has been mentioned Alonso possible illness in this version he doesn't have a mother so unless when the good Dr. shows up he's the one he's going to be saving how in the world are they going to stretch this for that long?

Yeah the whole thing about Max and support for the baby drives me up the wall. You have Victoria marching in demanding that Maria sell her the baby because Maria can't "give the baby the life it deserves". Well what about your deadbeat stepson. Shouldn't you be getting on your stepson's case about giving the baby the "life it deserves". Oops - right - that would mean life would improve for Maria too.

Of course we just know it was all just an excuse to have the baby for herself.

But honestly, it has seemed like it never occurs to Max to do something material for his kid. He is dumb, dumb, dumb and useless. And then he gets all bent out of shape when some other guy is providing real material and emotional support.

Yes, that is really odd that Maria only chatters and laughs with Alonso. Do the writers realize what they are doing?

Of course the traditional heroine only falls in love once and stays loyal and steadfast no matter what hell she goes through for her beloved, how much her child suffers, or what a useless dumbass her beloved is. Typical!

"Frankly at two hours a shot I'm afraid that I'll start losing brain cells and end up like the complete idiots on this show."
* ROFLOL! This definitely needs to be on the sidebar.

"Jardinera thanks for your dedication to this unfortunate media event."
** Even funnier!!!

Surely "Cristal" was half-hour episodes for that number of capítulos…..

"Yes, that is really odd that Maria only chatters and laughs with Alonso. Do the writers realize what they are doing?"
Probably not, and if they do, they don't care. It's Liliana Abud screenwriting this version & Meh-jía producing. 'Nuff said.

Thanks, Jardinera, for another splendid job!

My favorite moment in this episode:

When baby Juan Pablo spits up at the sight of Guillermo at the door.

My second favorite moment:

When Bernie and Eva -- who now looks deliciously like Mini-B -- smirk happily as Rox tries to convince the cops she's not responsible for Ximena's locuras.

Doris, I thought of you when I was doing the Sunday Times puzzle today. 38 Down Clue: Interjection of disinterest. Answer: meh.
:)

@Rosemary: I definitely 101% agree with you,... why the hell is Max worrying about his "newly-discovered" mom??!!..and he doesn't make any effort to look for a "decent" house for HIS TRUE BEBE!!!..he really is really stupid.!.!

It's my first time to watch Meja TNs and i'm not impressed at all... I'm only watching this novela coz of William LEvy and Maite Perroni..!..

THIS BLOG IS A SPOILER-FREE ZONE!

To Anon 1:44 May 15 from Anon 11:35 May 15. I had made that comment about maria and alonso as well. She feeds into his delusions with the appearance of "just being a nice person and not wanting to hurt peoples feelings. If anything, Max should leave her, since she finds alonsos company more important. Max stayed with the crazy because of his concern over his own flesh and blood. who wouldn'. There was no time where we saw them two kiss, like we did maria and alonso, even tho she pulled away. We didn't see max sitting talking and laughing with the crazy. during this who soap, he avoided her unless thee was a confrontation going, never never laughing and talking.

PS Sorry I was wound up. wanted to mention that the recappers do such an awesome job and I too am happy that highlights will be done during the two hour shows instead of recappers having to be up during the wee hours of the madrugada. I like the nitty gritty, but not at the expense of the recappers having to spend their entire night writing. Thank you all recapapers. You all are very much appreciated.

Rosemary - I too am anxiously awaiting Cesar's appearance. Let's just hope the writer's don't turn him into another babbling character. I just may turn off the sound and just "enjoy the view".

Hallelujah if Cesar shows up. Love, love him and that incredible voice. One of the best parts of La Madrasta were his scenes with Vicky. Talk about hot chemistry!!

NovelaMaven I too caught the baby spitting up when Gui showed up and he seemed to drool more than usual as the scene went on. I thought it was a completely apt reaction and one that the view audience shares. LOL

Cesar Evora's voice would have been the envy of every radio performer and every screen actor who didn't make it to talking pictures.

Of course we can't forget that he looks like a cross between Marcello Mastroianni and Sean Connery at the same age. When EPDA was on in prime, a friend of mine stopped cold while channel-surfing and asked "Why is this man a priest?"

Did anyone notice that TDA played A Partir de Hoy at the beginning Monday's episode? I think this is the first time they've played it in a month!
