Cuando Me Enamoro #18 Monday 5/16/11 Where We Are Hoping Bonnie Belle’s Party Was Way Better Than Matias’

Sorry I missed out on the party but have been laughing my head off reading the comments from Friday. And from today: I see that happy birthday wishes are due to the fabulous Bonnie Bell. Willa sends high five woofs too. Just watching Hugo Chavez sing and Shakira gyrate, I wonder if they knew it was Bonnie Belle’s birthday or is this another suspicious coincidence? And this my friends is the only frivolous and joking moment in a dismal tale of wretched people, listen up.

Renata sticks by her self-defense of innocence and vows to find out who did this. Roberta is proud of her skullduggery but disagrees with Fina Dearest about being with Matias as a good prize. Jero doesn’t listen to anybody much, hard to get behind this so called hero except he is pretty to look at and he is probably making more money than anyone else.

Fina thinks Renata is the guilty rebellious spam girl (of course I mean cheap meat not computer hacker). Gonzo, not his finest hour is concerned about his family reputation but believes Renata, well sort of. Jero is mad at just about everyone and can’t figure out truth from lies or attraction from hatred.

Renata feels so alone as she watches the jet bath fill, between the streaming water, the guitar and singer, I can’t really hear what she is saying except her determination to redeem herself but from who or what.

Roberta and her BFF enjoy a laugh about what has happened to Renata but Auntie Constanza and Uncle Honoroio are not impressed with her laughter at her sister’s disgrace and Conz accuses Roberta of envy, and after Roberta stomps off, Honorio thinks Roberta and Fina owe Renata a big apology for this disgrace. At least some in the family are on to this trick.

Regina sees Adriana in the waiting room, they share kind words, Regina gives Adriana her contact information, on her business card and they hug in continuing empathy.

Renata sags and sighs on the stairs and is comforted by Matias who advises that she should forget what happened. He assures her no matter what he is with her. She has come to a decision that after this public scandal she should remove herself. Roberta says she is a slut (golfa) while listening in at the top of the stairs still hoping Matias will turn against her sister.

Jero arrives back at the Hacienda Bonita He reveals to Carlos that Adriana is the sister of Roberta and is full of lies, it’s not even her name. But how are things here. Carlos shows the ‘R’ necklace and Jero remembers putting the fallen one on Roberta and hearing that there are two identical necklaces, the other belongs to Renata. So Jero jumps to the conclusion that it must have been Renata’s that dropped at the hacienda. Carlos reasons that the guilty person could be Renata then Jero makes a pained face at this possibility he is so sure that Roberta was who was the love interest of Rafa, but the seeds of doubt are planted.

Matias is the verdedero galan and gives his attention and love to Renata who he believes in and the only one he is worried about. Renata is determined to get to he bottom of the photo hoax. She thanks him for his unfailing support in a tender moment.

Carlos insists that Renata not Roberta could have delivered the fatal blow to Rafa. Wow, does partial evidence seized with such fervor lead straight away down a path of dark decisions. Me thinks Renata isn’t coming out of this new mess well either.

Fina is being told that her confidante or licenciado as she so sexily calls him is very worried and concerned about her. She has suffered so and has been threatened by someone in the past and she needs his help. She needs everything investigated about this Regina who plagued her so in the past. He will do anything for her. He will give this investigation his total attention. She needs to know everything about this woman to resist the threat she poses. He doesn’t want her to shed even one tear from those beautiful eyes. She actually looks worthy of the comment for a change.

Regina and her Mom discuss the illness of Ines son and what to do.

Renata barges in to Roberta’s room, she wants the list of invited guests from Roberta and wants to send an apology to everyone who came. Do you think I am capable of this act? Yeah, something else. ?? Roberta stares into her laptop screen, not so happy or cocky with her triumph.

Renata tells Jero on the phone that she is not going to Spain but must stay by Ines while Androcito is so ill.

So how was the party, she asks, expecting a nice story. He says no it was a mess but he doesn’t want to discuss it just yet. He goes off in his head and replays all the troubling conversations with Renata and the accusations by Roberta of Renata’s avaricious and unfaithful nature. Jero doesn’t want the killer to be Renata but is haunted by so many questions.

Augie is throwing a fit about the label on the wine (It’s a wine whine, and I didn’t get it all, just his being an imperious jerk with the help.) His manager arrives to say he was told to tell him when someone arrived and he has arrived. Augie is in a snit.

In a mass at the church no less, Dr. Nesme takes the hand of the sexy Alfonsina (¿Is it?) across the aisle while Lazaro looks on. Lots of feeling and feelings swirl about for a community grasp in the middle of church.

Matias comes to take the typing Renata to the hospital as she construct her apologies. At the office, Honorio is screaming into the phone that he insists on knowing who rented the helicopter. Gonzo says all this is an infamy perpetrated by cowards. Honaoio and Gonzalo decide to accompany Constanza to the hospital.

Regina excuses herself to a sad faced Antonio that she cannot come to Spain and leave Ines while they are waiting for the diagnostic test on the boy. Antonio says they need this time together alone to further their relationship. She says things have gotten wild. Antonio says, nothing I have said will convince you to come, has it? She says no. Then we will talk when I return to Mexico. Mom overhears and tells Regina that she is keeping Antonio at bay and has always kept everyone at bay including her. Regina is sorry but can’t help it.

Matias and Renata arrive seeing Adriana who breaks down sobbing that her mom is dying from cancer. Adriana says the doctors think she only has a few days and her quality of life won't be good. Matias wants to meet her mother, but this is so not a good time. Not now.

Jero, Augie and Carlos, meet briefly. Jero later tells Carlos that he intends to sell the hacienda to Augie since it seem he wants it and it is a good place to sell. Jero can’t get past what he feels for this woman and his bad feelings in this house he wants to get rid of it all. Carlos wants Jero to preserve the land in the name of his brother who knew it was such a precious place. Carlos begs him to at least look at all his brother achieved before it all goes away.

The meeting we have waited for with mother and daughter meet with much singing and is that the fluttering of angels' wings I hear? And looks of love...

In stark contrast, Roberta and Fina grouse that Matias and Renata left together all cozy, so all their tricks were for nothing and now she can’t even get Jero on her cell phone. It's so hard to be the less pretty sister. Fina has nothing against Jeronimo but he can't get in the way of her plans for Roberta. Fina but tells her that Gonzo is very irritated with her and village voices has been telling her that Gonzo only married her because he loved Renata.

Regina tells Renata that she knows her uncle and aunt and that she was to come to party with Jero but could not come and she would love to know her they beam at each other. Renata shows surprise that she knows Jero too. She tells Adriana she will keep in touch and for some telenovela plot reason gives a special and very long hug to this strange girl and wonders this could be my daughter she feels so right. Afterward, Adriana and Renata say it is a bit strange but how lovely a woman Regina is.

Fina builds her case to Roberta that Regina is trying to steel Gonzo and for this reason she didn’t want to invite her to the party. Roberta will help her mom get rid of said Regina and continue to foil the hated Renata but she still refuses to involve herself with Matias. Fina looks sad at her less than total power over her conniving daughter who in this one thing is not Mom’s clone.

Matias greets Gonzo, Constanza and Honorio, they are there to see the child of Ines but Matias is in to support Adriana with Renata as Adriana’s mother is dying and Honorio hesitates. He also wants to assure Adriana of their support.

Matias tells Gonzo how Renata is breaking with him to distance him from the shame of the scandal but Gonzo knows that Renata is totally innocent and they will face this. (It’s about time Pops).

Renata and Adriana chat with the sick but cheerful Mom. Matias and Renata assure of their support for Adriana and Mom bravely promises they will go to the beach for her birthday. Both girls look sad.

Jero reads the text message from Renata who wants to meet with him to explain everything. Carlos says don’t answer her until you make sure of what you are going to do.

Gonzo comes into the boy's room and gets to apologize to Regina for the invitation being lost. The boy comes back into the room while Ines is in the cafeteria with her husband. They all decide to go down to the cafeteria except Constanza who goes in to see the sleeping boy.

Augie assures Dr. D that he can't wait to get his hands on the Bonita lands. Then Augie says bring your wife to the business dinner but Dr. D says this is just for men and business. He’s totally disgusting even when sober, but I digress.

Gonzo finally tells Regina that it is better that she didn’t’ come with him, it was such a mess at the party. She assures him of her confidence and they smile embarrassed at how good it feels. Regina talks to Ines and her husband and tells them that Constanza is with the boy. Honorio arrives with the Renata, Matias and Adriana asking how the boy is. We won’t have the results until tomorrow. Telenovela induced childhood leukemia usually requires lots of tests to diagnose precisely.

Honorio wants to meet Adriana's mom but Adriana wants him to wait until tomorrow when her mother may feel a bit better. Tension mounts…

Not easily foiled, Fina is on the phone wanting to protect her “heartsick” daughter from this Mexicano empresario Jeronimo, and she wants to know everything about him so she can protect her. We can assume her smitten detective is on the other end of the phone.

Next: Regina is remembering that her hug with Renata could be just like hugging my daughter. Jero finally calls Renata back and agrees to meet her still going back and forth on whether she is a delicious temptation or a ruthless brother killer for him to uncover. Either way it looks like Renata is going to be stripped down…

Cheryl, lovely and hilarious recap starting with the fab title. Gracias amiga, I really like your style.

"Wine whine," hee, brilliant! May I copy?

"She actually looks worthy of the comment for a change," OMG she did! How did Fina do that? She's such a witch.

Speaking of witches, after the way Roberta treated Renata when Nata came to ask for the invite list I don't think there is any doubt that Roberta is Muy Mala to the bone!

Well, I think that the first meeting between Renata and Regina was extremely satisfying. They both truly felt something BIG. Now it will only take them about 150 more episodes or so until they figure it out.

Speaking of figuring out, I wonder, will Honoria get to meet Agatha before her death or will he be thwarted? Poor Adriana, she's such a sweet kid.

Thanks Cheryl! Terrific recap and being a dog lover I appreciate the references to our real stars, Willa and Bonnie Belle.

Love your title. Happy day to Bonnie Belle! You're so right, Cheryl, that this is a wretched group right now. Few smiles to see anywhere in this group, though Gonzo's not doing too well hiding his admiration for Regina. GOOD! Hope this keeps progressing, I know reaaaaalllllly slowly, but that poor man needs to see the light out of the Fina tunnel.

I missed bits and pieces over the last week...have we seen this adoring detective Fina keeps calling? Who is this loser?

Matias could not be sweeter and smart. Almost hating the fact this poor guy won't get the girl, but Ari is a good consolation prize.

So Jero meets up with Nata in our favorite neightborhood hang-out. Gees, even the same table?? Anyhoo...methinks we'll be seeing a pretty conflicted hero as he wants to bring her down and is falling in lurrvvvv with our dear heroine anyway. (And I like Carlos, but jump to conclusions a little too enthusiastically much? What happened to the voice of reason?)

Cheryl, hillarious recap!
I loved 'It's so hard to be the less pretty sister.'
and yes, the wine whine... have to remember that one..
speaking of the wine whine... what Augie was so mad about was that he is about to package/bottle a lot of wine and wanted this guy to find him a unique and attractive bottle for it.. not just the label... (I remember a wine that was called Pata rota and the bottle was bent, simulating a broken horse leg or stte lol)...
yes, Augie seems to be a whiner... and I want Jero to say no to the sale of La Bonita just because...

Regina was the one who called Jero to say she was not going to Spain.

And the conversation Roberta/Sele where Honorio and Connie came over... Roberta told Sele how she had Diego do the prank on Renata and Sele was saying stte of 'I am so glad I am your friend because I would HATE to be your enemy! sigh!' and at that moment Honorio and Connie came to reprimend Roberta for speaking ill of her own sister and told her that they would help Renata discover who did this to her, and at that time she (Rob) and Fina would have to appologize to Renata.

Thanks again for a great recap.

and I agree, daisyjay, Carlos was not that 'reasonable' when he immediately changed targets from Roberta to Renata when Jero said he had seen Roberta with a necklace like that one and she said Renata had an identical one.
But I still will cheer for Carlos if he backs up on it once he gets to know Renata (I hope).

Cheryl, I love the recap and of course the title was a pleasant surprise this morning. I can guarantee that Bonnie Belle's party, while not as lavish, was much less stressful than Matias'. Of course nude photos of BB already abound so even such a photo-drop would have spoiled the proceedings much.

I wonder who buys Dr. Nesmi's clothes for him? He needs a coordinated parasol to complement his swishy pastel suit. Surely Alfonsina isn't interested in this bobblehead.

I was also a bit disappointed in Carlos. He seemed so level-headed and focused earlier. Jerry's vengeful nature really doesn't need encouragement.

Poor Agatha. Could it be anymore cruel than to tell her that her surgery was a success? Now how are they going to tell her the truth of the matter?

Carlos

Carlos,
bobblehead... perfect nickname for DrDeath...

Morning all. Carlos, your comment about nude photos of Bonnie Belle completely cracked me up. Too funny.

I really had to laugh at the scene in church where they were all supposed to be holding hands and Alfonsina and the Doc felt some sort of electricity. Really? I get that he'd be gaga for her but likewise? Just doesn't make sense. He is a complete putz. So much so that a matching parasol would actually improve his image. And minor gripe, her nails were way too manicured for someone who hangs out in the vineyard. Just sayin'.

Did they really tell Agatha her operation was a success? I thought so but I just couldn't believe it. Maybe they are hoping she will quickly die before they have to break the unpleasant news to her.

Carlos2 was a bit of a disappointment jumping to conclusions and all, but it does make sense that if one sister has her R necklace then the other one must have dropped hers at La Bonita. Sigh.

At least we are seeing a not-so-nice side to Augie. So far it's been a bit of a stretch to believe this suave, wine-loving, polite chap is the villain.

Good morning all, thanks for the kind comments. We seem to have unanimous disappointment in Carlos' unwelcome rush to judgement. It did seem like he would be the cool headed advisor but maybe he can still be an influence in keeping the Hacienda Bonita to honor Rafa's passionate work. Besides, someone has to stand up to Augie so he can't steal the store.

Love the comments about Dr. Nesme's wardrobe and apparent goofy style. Alfonsina surely outclasses him on all counts, but who knows how desperate her life is locked in relative poverty. She may not see him for the naco he is.

And the gloves are off of Roberta too. She has absolutely no redeeming characteristics. I had faint hopes in the beginning that the girls would somehow be allies. I guess Fina has poisoned her beyond redemption. She so deserves what ever is to come her way from the pie cart.

Hi everybody...checking in here because I miss you all too much to stay away any longer.

But Cheryl, you nailed it when you called this "a dismal tale of wretched people".

Lordy, where is the comic relief in this one? Baby abduction is the worst. Especially when it lasts decades instead of a few months.

And now this nasty conniving by not only family members but mentally unbalanced suitors (and I'm including Juan Soler in that group).

I was finding Augie rather hawt until he start lambasting that poor employee. That's how we know he's bad to the bone, not nice to the underlings.

As for Dr. Bobblehead...oh my Carlos...you really have his number. What I hate is how he just lets his mouth hang open...for minutes!...to indicate he's amazed or surprised. Back to acting school for you bub.

Jeez, have I vented enough spleen yet?

Great recap, great title, loved the little asides Cheryl.... and Silvia Navarro can still knock my socks off with her acting. She deserves a better script but I know she'll squeeze and wring the very best out of this one.

Finally....Leukemia and terminal breast cancer...wow, can't wait for the rest of the episodes. Fun ride.

Happy Birthday nude seductive vixen Bonnie Belle!

Cheryl, what a hoot! The clever comments had me in stitches.

I too was surprised at Carlos' vehemence. Finding the necklace does look suspicious -- but why the degree of emotion? Jero had his mind made up that Roberta was the maldita and he doesn't want to believe that it could be Renata. So maybe that is Carlos' function -- to keep nudging Jero's suspicions in Renata's way.

Yes -- at last we can be sure that Augustin is a baddy -- he lollers at the help!!!!!

And yes it is hard to believe that Alfosina could possibly be interested in Dr. Doofus.

Hola all. I just started watching this show over the weekend and have about ten more episodes to go before I catch up with the parade and can comment on the current action, but just wanted to tell you all how much I appreciate the recaps I am now reading. They are so helpful! It's hard to keep all those characters straight in the beginning, especially with the time shifts. I'm so disappointed Jorge da Silva (mi amor!) didn't stay on to the present day! Are lots of flashbacks too much to hope for?

So far, I'm not really liking our hero Jero. Matias seems so much better.

Nice to "see" you here, Judy! I've missed you!

Wow, JudyB and Julia all on the same day!

Julia, were your ears burning when Jorge da Silva made his appearance? We were wondering if you'd seen it. I didn't even recognize him in his suit; I'm used to seeing him partially-clad and doing something much more athletic. And sweaty. And masculine. And chest-bearing.

JudyB, isn't it awful that we already have a child with leukemia so early in the show? This might be one of those shows that is so depressing it becomes funny (unintentionally). We'll see. Great to have you check in, please feel free to visit and vent spleen whenever you like!

My feelings exactly about the leukemia story. I don't even see how it advances the plot. At least the dying mother is going to unite Adriana & Honorio. Couldn't they have found another way to get Renata & Regina in the same room so that they could feel the mother and child connection????

Thanks so much, Cheryl, for a great recap. I wish I had enjoyed the episode half as much as I did your recap.

Carlos1, I agree, it's cruel to tell someone that her operation was a success when it wasn't. (And thanks, Silvia, for your suggestion that the TN Carlos is Carlos2.)

I've got one question: at the disastrous party, Renata had what I thought was a rather unattractive hairdo: straight and severe. She was then up late, and in the morning she comes down the stairs with her usual very attractive curly hair. Huh? How did that happen? Is a live-in hairdresser part of the Monterrubio staff?

Hmm...I guess I have a second question. We again saw Renata catch a glimpse of Mattias looking at the incriminating flier that had been dropped from the helicopter. Both times I saw that, it looked to me as if there was writing on the paper, not a photo. Did anyone else have that impression?

I think the flyer had both, Renata's face photo-edited on a porno photo and some advertising-esque writing on the bottom below the photo.

Wow, Judy and Julia, so nice to see you here. You make me wish I knew Jorge. What was he in most recently? Watching the news today is seeing real life be more seedy than a telenovela could ever hope to be.

I am not liking the leukemia/breast cancer themes either but what telenovela can you name that has no hospital scenes whatsoever. The angelic boy is likely to recover, after all our own medical expert here, Dr. Lomas has assured us that telenovela leukemia has over a 90% recovery rate. Besides, Constanza gets more chances to show how compassionate and motherly she can be to lead the way to take Adriana into her heart.

Cheryl, your recap was wonderful. Thank you for incorporating "skullduggery", one of the best words - ever! This was delightful and so much fun -"guilty rebellious spam girl" was one of my many favorite lines.

Unfortunately, after the first several episodes, I haven't been able to watch this so am still quite lost. So, I will again simply comment on the spectacular recap and excellent comments.

Carlos, glad Bonnie Belle's celebration was grand!

Diana

One child did die of leukemia...in Querida Enemiga. But maybe she's the ten percent. Yep, I"m hoping our cute little guy will make it, and his hospitalization is just a plot device.

@Juanita...as the mother of a gal with very curly hair I can assure you that scene change made perfect sense. She gets hers ironed out on a regular basis, but once she washes it, it's riotously curly again. I'm guessing our poor Renata tried to wash out every memory of that wretched party.

Diana, I have watched every episode and I'm still a little lost. The plot setup and the relationships between the characters are rather convoluted.

Hi Judy and Julia, it's so good to hear from you guys again.

Diana, like Silvia, I've watched every episode and still I'm confused about some things. For example, Roberto (deceased) gave identical R pendants to Regina and Regina (now Renata) when Regina (now Renata) was born. Regina (now Renata) was wearing hers when she was stolen by Pepa (now Fina). Later, Renata and Roberta each had an R pendant. Roberta lost hers in an encounter with Rafael, then borrowed Renata's to wear at the party. I guess that Fina had an extra made but I don't recall that having ever being mentioned.

Boy, am I glad that others are recapping this.

Carlos

Hello all. Like Julia, I'm am trying to catch up on this TN and am very thankful for the recaps. I have seen some recent episodes and am going back to fill in the details. Sylvia, you make me feel much better if the characters are confusing you and you started with this.

Belated wishes to Bonnie Bell.

It's great see you here Judy!

Hey Judy B! Nothing to really on the TN, but couldn't help but shout to my fellow Ohioan. So glad to see you here!

Thanks for the welcome back everybody. Guess this is just another addiction I can't quite kick. One day, no doubt, there'll be a CarayCaray Anonymous group...but just not yet, Lord, just not yet...

Daisynjay..are folks in Cleveland rejoicing that Chicago is ahead of Miami?

Wow! What a great group of commenters today! I didn't watch the episode, so I really appreciate the great recap Cheryl.

From all the recaps and the few episodes I've seen, I'm keeping the plot straight well enough. The only thing I don't understand is how Roberta ended up with an 'R' necklace like Renata/Regina Jr.

This one has been pretty depressing so far, but is filled with some good actors. However, I'm glad that they are not trying to throw in some stupid comic relief (like FF chimpmunk scenes). :)

JudyB,

I don't remember -- who was the child that died on QE?

Cheryl, great recap, thank you.

Carlos, I agree with you about the necklace. I even went back and re-read the early recaps to make sure. I guess at some point Regina will see one of the two remaining necklaces, either on Roberta (since she has decided to keep it) and the other that Jero has. Maybe Regina will wear hers and Jero will see it. I hope the extra "R" has some sort of extra marking.

The church scene with Dr. Bobblehead and Alfonsia was a little creepy. Surely that relationship is going nowhere fast.

I hope we don't have many more episodes in the hospital. Lets get to the wine country.

Rosemary

Cheryl, You certainly made a silk purse out of a sow's ear! Hilarious! Thank you, thank you.

Judy!! Julia!! Hooray! I miss you both. Judy, I can't remember the child who died in QE. (Or what I had for breakfast!)

I was also wondering what happened to Carlos2. If you can't say something nice about Renata, zip it, bub...

What a fun group has dropped in today. It makes me really glad I came back to recapping to enjoy the company of so many fine friends.

I can't remember Fina getting a second "R" but she must have done it to be prepared for the identity theft pusihing Roberta forward in the race to inherit all of Roberto's fortune. What we also have not seen is if Regina still has the "R" necklace she originally wore. Maybe there is a way for Regina to discover that one of the girls has a fake one. I don't see how Roberta could be wise to the nasty game that Fina intends but she will probably aid and abet her evil mother.

Okay, I clearly have a LOT of catching up to do. I am utterly baffled as to how Fina is going to secure Renata's inheritance for Roberta without getting herself thrown in prison for kidnapping.

I can't remember the child dying in QE, either. All I remember of that show is Chef Hawt and Fafy Cuenca.

Actually, as best I recall, the child that died in QE was a teenaged girl for whom Dr. Alonzo developed a strong affection and he became very depressed when he wasn't able to save her. I'm pretty sure that she was an orphan as well.

Carlos

Judy, people in Cleveland would cheer anyone beating Miami...personally, being born and raised in Chicago, I'm THRILLED! Now they need to take the series and tell Leborn Bye bye bye.

Dr. Carlos...you are right. She was a waifish orphan,(there may have been a granny somewhere around) a thin blonde, pre-teen or teenager, not sure which and our hunky doctor was devastated by her death. She of course adored him and thought he hung the moon, and that made his inability to save her even more painful.

THAT'S right! I'm so glad Judy and Carlos still have brain cells!! Now I remember the little waif who died. So sad....
